check here, it may be a little outdated, but it gives you are rough idea
Ok
ISPs are VERY segmented in the US, the less competition they see the better in their eyes and they'll do anything to make that possible
There's a lot of competition in India. Like every block has a small vendor distributing Internet. lol.
Yah, you'll see some competition in larger towns/cities but if you're out away from that, good luck
and by some I mean like 1 DSL, 1 cable, and maybe a fiber provider if you're lucky
getting high-speed 1:1 broadband is pretty much easy nowadays here. but the problem is nobody can provide the quality.
yeah I only have two here, Atlice (Optimum) and Verizon
atlice now is rolling out fiber here, but the big issue is the ONT
it's those ONT all in one, with apparently really bad passthough
Having less vendors with good quality slower speed internet is better than having plethora of them giving shitty internet.
what brand ONT are they using
we import from Chinese manufacturer called V-Sol. The ONU is pretty decent but when it comes to the WiFi, it sucks.
Not exactly, ISPs here (I kid you not) take grants from the government and do nothing in return and the government turns around and says "thank you, would you like more?"
They've funneled hundreds of billions into ISPs to have them roll out upgrades, they've taken the money and squandered it and done nothing to improve their infrastructure like they should have

The Altice equipment cannot be bridged/bypassed but you could configure your wireless access points to be just dumb access points instead of a full fledged router+AP system and that would eliminate the double NAT. Not sure what equipment you're using but most of the stuff I've touched has this ability.
stupid
Oooof, that is stupid
IDK about that. I was in UAE for 2 years and they have asically just two ISPs there and the quality of service and internet is just top notch.
"and the internet is just top notch", me having native issues with Discord and have to use a WG VPN to Germany for discord to even work
Blocking doesn't mean the quality is bad. It's just their policy.
The only thing top notch here for most ISPs is their profit margins
True dat!
This isn't blocking, discord doesn't even load, takes 2 miniutes for login page to even load and login, and then opening a server takes more ages. this isn't a problem with my system, some other friend had it too
Sounds like a Challenge
lol, I wish someone would figure it out
for now, sticking with fios
unless optimum does ipv6 first, which I doubt, then we'll see
optimum used to be descent until atlice bought it out
No no. It is because of blocking only. You can try reaching their support and they'll tell you it is blocked.
How is it related to blocking, this issue wasn't there 1 month ago
btw Etisalat or Du? @low pond
Grab yer J-Link's n yer Bus Pirates + yer Logic Shrimps,
time to rip the firmware right off the ONU
Eticrap, on the 250mbit plan
hmm
Usually these ONT's n shit are either doing Radius Authentication and/or Serial Number Reporting over SNMP.
I've seen lots of optimum vans recently, people moving over with some new gigabit deals or something
Don't have one so idk, one of my friends might, but don't want to mess up his ONT lol
thats the only thing that keeps me from doing it to everything I can get my hands on... I cant get my hands on it
oh
I ripped apart AT&T's and on the SNMP Metrics, I report back "Yall suck!" on a few of the string metrics.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OPTIMUM/comments/nlnqrw/altice_fiber_bridge_mode_is_here/
Apparently bridging wasn't a feature at first
Aren't ONT's like this as he described?
@plain siren apparently they use this stuff https://www.alticelabs.com/site/gpon-solutions/
NG-PON
Single technology platform for all services
NG-PON selected TWDM-PON as the primary technology solution with point-to-point WDM overlay channels, with full coexistence with legacy ITU-T PONs (G-PON, XG-PON) and RF video. Several wavelenghts can be used to provide up to 80G downstream and upstream. FIND OUT MORE
wdym?
but I have never seen an ONT/ONU which needs a external SFP.
oh no, in the post, they want to use a sfp instead of an ONT
trying to reverse engineer it
Fuck my internet i have right now is the best for my area
my fios ONT although it takes a lot of space is pretty easy to use, just plug router into ethernet port, it gets IP via DHCP and you're good
no bs
A ton of these ONT's are how Downage reports and Speed metrics are handled too
The TR-069/G.988 (SNMP) Command sends a request to do a speed test/report up, they get metrics.
Usually if you can figure out which reported string is their form of "Authentication" or "IP Assignment Binding", you can replicate it and bypass it
Most of the time its the Serial Number
A ton of newer ONT/ONU's are starting to be ARM Based, some are still MIPS
Oh. But what would changing SFP do any good?
simplicity, fiber goes directly to router
and more control with the vlans and such
Some (or most) ONTs are vendor specific in the sense that they enable support teams to access the ONTs directly from the OLT for them to configure it.
Basically the OLT is a switch aggregating the throughput. So I think we can use ONt of any make.
?
I am talking about GUI access.
what gui access, I don't have any
OMCI > ONU Management and Control Interface
G.988 and TR-069 is the protocols used by the OMCI
wait. let me RDP to my desk.
That's GUI for the OLT showing all the connected ONTs.
If we click 'config' we can access the ONU for configuration stuff.
you don't need to login to the ONT.
But I can do that only if I use a specific ONT make.
Usually, this Configuration Screen is either non-existent or turned off per Providers settings
instead most of the time these configurations are set through the OMCI
Its the Provisioning System used by the OLT to push these configurations typically

does anyone know if there is a way to auth into ubiquiti wifi network using active directory
Enterprise wifi security
It uses a unique key for each person, could prob set it up
RADIUS
So Ive recently done some testing and to my surprise it works for once. I have an laptop running ubuntu 20.04 with a VPN running on it. I opened up a port on the VPN and for this example lets say the port is 55555. On the laptop I did sudo ufw allow 55555 and then a command to turn it into a sock...
if anyone can help me with this
which one can i get?
1st option : TP Link Archer c6 ac1200 v3.2 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
Specs list : https://www.tp-link.com/in/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-c6/v3.20/#specifications
2nd option : Tenda ac10 ac1200 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
Specs list : https://www.tendacn.com/en/product/specification/AC10.html
Tenda AC10 Specification
Archer C6, with 4 external antennas and gigabit port, delivers WiFi to every corner of your home, so you enjoy smooth video streaming and gaming.
TP Link Archer c6 ac1200 v3.2 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
Tenda ac10 ac1200 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router
@dusk oasis There is no much difference
which one can i get exactly?
and which is better
Go for TP link, have long experience with them and never had issue. For Tenda I can't tell because never used it
Hello, Idk if its right channel but how do I check if my router is compromised? I mean if someone else have controll over it? I use Razer Sila (Bought it after BIG discount please dont judge me :P)
Huh? Just change admin password, wifi password and disconnect all devices π€£
so there is no posibility for some nasty backdoor situation if I dont see alien devices in my router?
If someone else has gained access to your router it is a high possibility that you won't be able to login to your router.
Ah it's all right all the time, but Im weirded out a bit because when I log in to my router the page refresh itself when im typing password and I though some hadkerman did pishing site to steal my password for router xD
or is it just stupid and I'm paranoid xD?
is it refreshing everytime you are typing your password?
Only when I open new tab with it, then I start typing and mid typing it refreshes
Maybe its just shitty razer software... xD
do one thing, open any website and just hit the keys of your password and check if that website is refreshing or not.
no idea then. But if it would be a phishing website, the url would be different from your original url.
Oh right
it's not tho, so maybe it's just lazy coding from razer... But just wanted to ask you know to get additional verification from other human π
Just reconfigure the router and check. Might help.
np. have a nice day yourself. π
Use folder redirection
I've had a lot of problems with this
Microsoft never made it so it wouldn't hang the logon process
if the server hosting it was ever down, I had instances where everything would freeze or hang until it timed out
Lol
did you know I never found out what setting controls this timeout?
I wish I did. it's probably an smb related setting
I have a TP-Link AD7200 Wireless Wi-Fi Tri-Band Gigabit Router (Talon AD7200), It's 5 years old now and I'm wondering is t time to replace or update. I've been looking around to find out but there's no clear answer on this that I can find at least. Some say yes and buy this router now while other say no but buy this one if you do want a new one anyways. There's no clear reason why given by either so I'm hoping I can find help here. I've noticed I need to reset the router once a month now to fix the WiFi now and again but other then that it works fine. Also no new software or firmware updates since 2017 for this device.
I just switched to a UniFi system and I've been really happy with it so far. I also looked at Grandstream products instead.
whats the easiest way to have full home network access away from home? 1 windows machine, 1 ubuntu machine thats behind Mullvad. Im assuming id use some kind of wireguard or rdp on a raspi or something but im unsure of the best way to go about it. Ideally itd be as if im at my home pc to do general management when my wife has issues while im away, along with access to qbittorrent and whatnot.
mullvad allows local network access so unsure if that part was relevant.
VPN, so Wireguard/OpenVPN/etc
how does a diy vpn interact with an actual vpn? can i have mullvad running alongside the diy one since they serve different purposes?
Anybody know the wan to lan throughput on an Asus RT-AX89X?
you can run as many as you want side by side
ofc they need to be exposed to diff ports assuming they end up sharing
and all this is happening on the raspi so as long as other machines are allowed to be accessed locally, itll work? that way the only hole i open is the one to the vpn host?
or are there other settings i need on the machines i want to access
seems like pivpn may be my best bet for now untill i learn how it works more and what i need. people seem to advertise it as damn near one click
How does something like PfSense deal with the OpenVPN 2 free users thing? As far as I am aware, PfSense can have many users at once however self hosted OpenVPN can only have 2 for free
@clear igloo @waxen scroll PAIN
is this patch panel not screwed in
oml is it really not

I'm looking at "eXtreme 6+" instead
and not the extreme switch below it, also not secure?
That thing at least has one screw on each side
This patch panel just has β¨noneβ¨
Yeah we're a Leviton shop
my job that had 1000s of racks kept a big inventory of every size cable up to 15' and tons of screws. they put the screws in a box near the doors so people who arent staff can just go get them
lol
we'd get our hands slapped if racks didnt look perfect
cause no excuse to have excess cable or anything
Whatβs a good router for a house that is 3 floors?
if its wood, all you need is a decent device on floor 2, near the middle
i had success in two homes that way
I was fortunate that my dad's house worked like this and it's great coverage with just one. now for my mom's home, there's literally no access in the basement. those thick walls man
it doesn't need screws since your a Leviton shop. it's Levi-tating in the air
the only thing that is limited to two users is the free trial of the openvpn enterprise version. if you install it normally from the system repos it's the full featured open source version
lmao
hi guys, I've heard one way of bypassing a CG-NAT is by having a VPS setup where all connections to it are forwarded to your home network, assuming I have found a VPS provider and have setup a linux instance, what would be the best way to then make the magic happen?
I think wireguard.
I saw here that alot of them use it, I'm not familiar with it so I can't help much.
ok thanks
a wireguard tunnel
Hi guys. This is going through a VPN. when i try to connect to my share network folder via ethernet it does not see any of the folders, but when i connect through wifi i can see all my folders. does any one have any clue what might be causing this.
well ofc with a vpn you won't see local shares
you're tunneling to a different network
i am tunning into my vpn that i setup @peak cloak
i though so as well, but all the settings look rather normal to me
@edgy creek Are the shared network folders local or behind the VPN?
here's the scenario: I have a cisco managed switch from my ISP that handles my static IP pool. I have one assigned to my netgear router for wireless. I have another machine connected to an unmanaged netgear switch which is connected to the cisco router. My ISP recently changed my IP assignment on me. Before they did that I had the second machine able to be reached via public IP assigned to it in the nic properties. Now however, it is not accessible. My router is still accessible, and anything on the Router's network is accessible via the router's ip and port forwarding. My last option is to unplug the power from the switch for a few minutes and plug it back in to see if this resolves the issue. Any thoughts from those of you that deal with this type of stuff on a daily?
Ok need some help. I have a pihole on vlan 1, need vlan 2 to be able to use that as its primary DNS server
Do not want anything other than DNS traffic to that pihole to traverse from vlan2 to vlan 1
I am using PF sense, and have an allow rule for TCP 53 from vlan 2 to go to the pihole on VLAN 1
that does not seem to be working, and im not sure what im missing
usually DNS defaults to UDP
iirc most implementations will use tcp if they can't connect with udp but it may help to enable udp too
fixed it
never put the any any any rule in, so traffic was never leaving the subnet
π€¦ββοΈ
yo is openvpn good?
wireguard is better
Hi there. I am using the UDM Pro router and i have 4 different VLANs. I'd like to allow 2 of these VLANs to communicate each other. Lets say A, B, C, and D is my 4 VLANs. I'd like to allow A and B to communicate each other and leave C and D isolated. I tried to set some lan firewall rules but it doesn't seems to work. Anybody know what should i do?
firewall
no clue how to use the new unifi GUI, all I know is EdgeOS
So this must be a firewall rule. I will play with firewall more and hopefully i can allow the communication. Thank you!
*rules, how does the gui look like?
hmm
example for some of my rules
this is the key part
this helps explain IN/OUT/LOCAL
Wireguard is to be preferred
hi guys. trying to transfer files between two PCs. got them connected via ethernet. typed this in explorer, \IP OF OTHER COMPUTER\c$, put in the IP
credentials went in, and then it says "access denied"
it used to say invalid credentials but i fixed them
can someone recommend me a good wifi extender under 30 bucks?
is this fine?
wifi extenders in general arent good
in certain situations they can help but the majority of the time they just make your RSSI measurement look better without actually improving speeds
Is this ($24.99 including next day shipping) a good price for a ethernet network switch? I'm planning to connect most of my devices through ethernet and also wanting to play around with some old laptops to eventually set up some home servers and some other homelab projects, and i figured at this price it seems like a good deal for my needs;
https://www.amazon.ca/D-Link-Unmanaged-Diagnostics-Energy-Efficient-DGS-108GL/dp/B08W3RYNSR
Also my router is 10/100mbs lan connections. should i upgrade to a 1gbs router too so that my home network speed improves? can i connect my devices through my modem which has gigabit lan?;
Network gore
My school has 22+ aps on 2.4ghz
And at least as much on 5ghz what the fuck
Forget about 5g melting your brain this is what will really melt your brain
i can ping an external ip with icmp right?
can i ping a external ip AND a specif private ip/device in that external ip, dont know if i made sense there
anyone give me ethernet cable pls :)
Nope. that's for the router in the other end to decide, usually in an "normal residental internet" situation connection if you are pinging the public IP you are just pinging the router, you cannot go further than that
Hello I want to run a vps from my home but I have non routable public IP and no Nat is there something I can do to get a routable public IP even if it involves some 3rd party service
Wut
Non routable public IP
yeah its bad
That makes no sense
Unless it's just an IP that's been assigned, but with no one advertising it
Or they mean a private (RFC1918) address on the WAN?
first one is wan address from the router second one is whatismyip
Yeah what you could do is get a vps to act as your Public endpoint
There's also services like ngrox but I never used them
yeah maybe use some cheap vps and code something to do the heavy stuff localy
im now trying ngrox i see if it works for me
thanks alot it works fine
yeah it looks like you have CG NAT so you're probably out of luck, just get a cheap VPS
this is a typical price for a cheap unmanaged 8 port gigE switch, i think I've seen them for $20 but that's within margin of error for sales and regular price fluctuations and dlink is a solid brand
I do that all the time
for this, it depends entirely what your ISP is offering you - if your plan offers more than 100mbps then definitely upgrade asap or else you're not getting the speeds you're paying the ISP for. otherwise its not crucial but probably still a good upgrade eventually (if nothing else because ... if your router is old enough to not have gigabit LAN ports it's probably also old enough that you're not getting great wifi speeds)
More networking gore incoming
Cheap cat5
No shielding and the pairs aren't even twisted
Also the conductors are solid not stranded although idk how it should be in real ethernet
Cabling runs: always solid
Patch cables: always stranded
Solid is easier to work with and less issues with termination but brittle when moved a lot so is really made for runs/patch panels. Stranded is more robust to flexing which is why its typically used with patch cables.
@peak cloak Latest v7 update includes native ZeroTier support. Its an odd integration to say the least. https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=178063
Yeah turns out the shaw modem can connect to the 8 port switch directly, and I have been using 1 of the 1 sockets for my main gaming rig so I get 600mbps, with the other socket being to an old router that I was incorrectly using as a switch. I think you're right though that I should get a new router. My roommate will have to connect via wifi since the router will be in my bedroom, so I'll see if I can split the cost to upgrade and if not they can use the built in wifi from the shaw modem (which luckily is really good on both 2.4ghz and especially 5ghz);
Its the first gen fiber+ modem so not as good as the top of the line one but better than the routers I have atm;
So it's a modem/router combo unit
Yes I had to check with shaw to confirm but luckily I can connect a switch out of it directly and get the speed I paid for through all my devices connected to it. 8 ports will probably be fine and I can always up to 24 ports later if I start going deeper into networking and make a proper rack mounted server to store the old laptops I'm using in;
i thought LTT got rid of our mikrotik shills
This was a patch cable before I cut its ends
how does the internet run?
meh at best
and thats on 5ghz
idk how to force my phone to do 2.4ghz only so i can test the 2.4ghz nightmare part of the network (no seperated ssids)
tomorrow imma do an actual speed test
99% of the time i use mobile data because the wifi is not anonymous in the slightest you sign in with your riga centralized school system id
Is it passable to connect my linux laptop to the tor network by defult?
I want to be able to pass any packet of any connection to and from the tor network
i live 12 miles away from cabel and its 72k to geht it out to our house does anyone know some good internet options that isnt a phone hotspot (thats what were using now)
sat internet?
it sucks
i was think about starkunj but heard its incondsistant and i stream i live in ky
well it's in beta
you need to find a clear area too
they are soon launching starlink v2 sats
but the speed is good
i allready paif
per month
no
never knew of any signup fee
oh deposit
yah
yeah, they will notify you when it's ready to ship
well there's no coverage in your area
ik
also that price seems pretty high, might as well run fiber
@hollow marlin do you know how fair that price is?
labor I suspect is one of the biggest costs
maybe permits too?
yah
true
should i go buy an ethernet cabe and dig a 1in hole all the way to my house???
lol
the land is cheaper than the 72k?
idk how much direct burial would cost
also, you would want a trencher
so i should jsut sick it in the trench

Watch the process of how the Internet Co installed about a mile of fiber optic cable nearly a mile down our remote driveway that winds through the woods. This project took them over a week, but should have been a day and a half... S...
I would assume
Thats about right. Average cost is about $10k per mile
Almost all of it is labor alone
ok so I need some help with routing traffic through a vps I have. So I have a wireguard tunnel setup between it and the router. My router is 10.1.1.1 and the vps 10.1.1.2. I can ping just fine between both networks, including my PC. (I have setup the static routes). Now the problem is forwarding traffic from the vps to the server. So I setup some iptables rules:
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -d vps_public_ip --dport 25565 -j DNAT --to-destination 10.10.30.60 10.10.30.60 being the IP of the server, I can ping it just fine from the server. And then I also have a masquarade rule for all packets coming out of the vps to the internet: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE Anything I am missing? Firewall should be fine as I can join from my local network and on the vps I have opened the ports with ufw: ```Status: active
To Action From
60861 ALLOW Anywhere
22 ALLOW Anywhere
25565 ALLOW Anywhere
51820 ALLOW Anywhere
60861 (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)
22 (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)
25565 (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)
51820 (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)
I feel an issue could be that the server doesn't know where to send the packets back and just tries to send them back to default gateway, but shouldn't it just send it back to where they came from? idk
but even then, the router would know where to send packets
ok so after a few tcpdumps the traffic does not reach the server at all, so it must be a iptables issue, it does reach the vps though
Starlink is worth it, we weee on fixed wireless getting 20 down and 0.8 up, now reaching peaks of 250 down and 48 up
And it consistently sits around 200d 40u, those arenβt like top1% speeds
User Crystal no longer available? We were talking MikroTik cant find him anymore. Banned?
I think @hollow marlin was discussing also and @rocky badge
Ah, missbehaved or something? I wanted to talk with him. Maybe can be found on another server. Is there some kind of user and server search function?
watch that message get deleted
could try adding him as friend Crystal#3166
Did not work sadly
wdym
you add as friend, then you need to wait for accept in order to dm
When i tried there was a popup message saying that it failed
Friend request failed... blabla.. be sure you spelled correct....
hmm, I doubt he deleted his account
yeah, i guess so. π life moves on
What kind of authentication even is this?
Hi, is there a simple guide on how to access my phone's files from my computer and viceversa through my network at home? (Windows 10/Android) I did it a few years ago but I forgot exactly how
Hi, is there a simple guide on how to access my phone's files from my computer and viceversa through my network at home? (Windows 10/Android) I did it a few years ago but I forgot exactly how
It's EAP.
RADIUS/802.1X
using MS Active Directory probably
Looks like I have FINALLY found some MOCA 2.5 that is as cheap as Powerline adapters https://www.amazon.com/MoCA-2-5-Gigabit-Ethernet-Ports/dp/B0931V5847
$60-$70 for a set of 2 instead of that price for one a single adapter
meaning a set of 2 is normally $120+ aka double what powerline is going for
Also 0 need for a MOCA FIlter since its a completely different set of wiring that doesn't come in from the road since its a Satilite network and we no longer have Direct TV so I can use that wiring for MOCA since the splitters are already have the right frequences on board
yeah MSCHAP is microsofts weirdo extension to EAP which has a bunch of major cryptography flaws but every Enterprise setup uses it anyway
but yeah it's AD based iirc
Crystals id is 814812041759948831
Help. Any port forwarding experts out there? looking to set up a modded rust server from a dedicated server but i am having trouble opening the required ports. Thanks in advance
What are your thoughts on Powerline Adapters?
Better jump off a cliff
I get like 30 Mbps at best over powerline to my basement but too lazy to run an ethernet cable because barely any use down there
It's a """""""gigabit"""""""
Adapter
Tbh probably in the fine print it says that gigabit means 10/100/1000 ethernet output not powerline link speed or something lmao
Powerline won't ever give you the full gigabit down there I think
they are a waste of money for all the problems that plauge the technology
it says for ethernet send 2.6mbps but recieved 48mbps what would i have to change
for me if anyone know what i would have to do
I used to have Powerline before i ran Cat6 in my house.
Worked okay as a temp solution, at most i recived 280Mbps down, 170Mbps up with 84ms ping to the ISP. What i had then from ISP was 300/300 Fiber, and via the home router (cable) i had 310Mbps/317Mbps at peak with 0ms ping to the ISP.
The main issue i had with Powerline is the stability of the speed and latency. If you are using a lot of things at the same time like a dryer, washer, stove etc it will impact your speed and latency.
hi can i USE SC connector(blue) with device that has E2000(Green) port in it?
With one of these?
https://www.amazon.com/Female-Hybrid-Adapter-Housing-Zirconia/dp/B00FW87FOY
not just plug and hope it works?
my device is https://carrier.huawei.com/en/products/fixed-network/access/cpe/h-series-products/hg8245h
They are different angles of light, hence the different colors on the fiber ends
https://www.belden.com/blogs/upc-or-apc
One thing that should be noted is that APC and UPC connectors cannot and should not be mated. Not only does mating cause poor performance because the fiber cores will not touch, but it can also destroy both connectors.
will i get no service or worse service?
no service and you'll probably damage something as well
ah
well i needed to get up and running for 3 days and i was in hurry and got blue connector for green device
now ill fix it after 3-4 days when i return back home
This is the biggest problem in the SP space. I ran into a number of times the use of UPC patches in APC ONTs and the fibers being chipped
Ah, and I assume converters do work my just angling the light correctly for each direction? or are they basically junk?
By converter, do you mean like a UPC/APC bulk head?
Hmmm... To be honest I have never seen them in the wild. My guess is there is a very short fiber inside with the correct polish on each side
I would assume it adds more loss than desired, as does every connector
Yah, that makes sense
Not something I've ever delved into but I did see them when I was looking for some APC fiber a while back and happened to remember them but didn't know if they were used or would actually work
Some ONTs like Calix, the connector has spring to it so while its APC, you can plug in UPC and the risk is lower of cracking the tip. Not including the butt load of loss in the process
Hi where can i find Admin login for HG8245H5
on back of router only User login is given not admin
Hey guys, have just purchased a basic key for unraid, and am having issues. I try to paste it into the "Key file URL:" but all I get is this: Downloading https://keys/******* ERROR (4). I have tried to fix it with replacing the Basic.key file in the config folder but it has made no difference. On the Tools section under registration it now has "Missing Key File" in red. Please can someone help?
Thank you
Wrong input type though
Hey guys I wanted to ask what it would take to set up my own server that I could access from anywhere?

Server just means you manage it yourself
Like rack it
Pay for that
Pay for transit
or just a old box hooked up at home
don't need a static
Ok I am just going to bow out
This is by far this oddest networking forum I have been in.
?
I'm really confused
you could use online serveries like google drive, google classroom, but if you really want something selfhosted there are probobly some applications already written, keep in mind if you starting from scratch with no knowledge it probobly won't be easy for you to setup
Like I found this
Your school doesn't provide something like this?
yeah, google classroom is really commonly used
or moddle, which my college uses
not that I would reccomend it, it kinda sucks
SharePoint, Google Drive
Some LMSes Google Classroom, Canvas, D2L, Blackboard integrate with SharePoint, Google Drive or provide their own storage within the service
Networking to me is things like. Bgp, mpls, layer2 & 3
oh yeah no, I know some of that stuff, most majority of questions here are just, What router is good
learning bgp, haven't touched mpls yet
It kinda also doubles as a general IT chat too Β―_(γ)_/Β―
But when you say router is good do you mean like as router which ca. Take a full bgp table or home router?
what do you think... this is LTT
Point taken
^ KEK
This isn't some super-entreprise datacenter people hanging around here
well there ARE people here, but not all
@clear igloo @waxen scroll u don't exist
No I didn't mean that at all
mynameisjuan exists too π€£
I just meant more of the people in LTT, very less know and work with the stuff
I don't exists
May I interest you in some cogent transit @pale ridge
I was routed to Null0 because I didn't posses the right BGP AS Community π
So now you don't exist
RTBH all the traffic
was gonna say... bruh... we got like 3 people here who work on networks for 15,000+ users
i'm sorry π I didnt mean it
@waxen scroll Ubiquiti failover routers
its coming soon β’οΈ
like a product or you put two in?
Plug WAN into PDU Pro....then it has two ports on the front to plug into each UDMP....
We at UBiqutti made the best technology, its called Failover routers, we were the number one networking brand who implemnted it
@hollow marlin im too lazy to water so I bought this device that has a USB wifi to bluetooth dongle that zaps BT to my yard to a valve
its a good thing I only deploy UDMPs where failover isn't required
mmmm
i just installed my 6 LR yesterday
We only have a spare UAP-AC-LR onsite
I got too excited and wiped the old one before I noted what channels I locked it too
so i have to survey again
rip
The UPS says 84 min for everything
But if their power goes out, the fire panel shits itself
blob you like harolds
No you may not
We have HE at Austriala sir
what about, COS (cogent over starLink(TM) )
Sir this is cogent, we dont do peering, we look at your pocket, if it has money we are interested
Lol
xD
Anyone have a good idea for a Dual Port Gigabit card with IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation for use with TrueNAS Build
would the HP NC380T PCI-e Dual Port Multi-function card support IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation
its a bit of a challenge my teacher set me cos weve tried online services and they havent been amazing
it has a good chance of improving my grade too
I have like 6TB of spare drives and a spare working pc to use
^
My wifi via ethernet keeps lagging or stuttering everytime i restart my PC, does anyone know what could possibly be causing this?
i have 500mbps download when i disable and enable my ethernet adapter again
idk, google classroom is pretty good
but you could try with the thing I posted
i have even tried manually setting the IPV4, defaultgateway, dns etc
it did not help at all
my drivers are up to date
Anyone have a good idea for a Dual Port Gigabit card with IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation for use with TrueNAS Build?
would the HP NC380T PCI-e Dual Port Multi-function card support IEEE 802.3ad link aggregation?
Whats the max throughput of moca 1.1
Wikipedia says 175 MBit/s
autho the source it sites doesnt actually specify
sounds correct
Mbit/s is the same as Mbps
ah kk
@clear igloo old Cisco switch
lol, rip
Itβs fine tbh, itβs gigabit PoE so thatβs enough
Ah, I thought you were getting rid of it
Itβs just for lighting (artnet), mixer control, and eventually NDI
Ah
art monitoring?
Artnet is to send DMX over IP
Ah!
So this program just shows all of the values
i never did timecode
always ran it live, either manually or through steps
manually would be a more basic room with a few zones
@clear igloo ugh this recruiter will not go away. "Sr Network Operations Engineer " what a downgrade
Needs more buzzwords, sounds so boring as is
NetDevops AI Neural Network Implementation Specialist sounds more enticing

the whois for my domain on namecheap
not the full one
you can sue if it isn't when u paid for it ... π
Not that easy sueing a US company from europe haha
i did it once, but this was a joke, a really bad one, but it was one .
everything was okay with namecheap but now i feel now like such an idot, i bought a domain and turns out zoho mail doesn't have a way to pay as a personal user
why everything has to be centered on business
Hey everyone, I am trying to install the Community Apps section on my unraid server, and I keep getting a network failure message, I don't know what to do, please can someone help?
wondering if anyone has experience with google dynamic dns
use proton mail
it's private, if you pay you get to use your domain
the irony is you dont own the domain
its not even registered under your name, so it should not matter that you provide your details - yet because of legacy, somehow it does
im rearlly hoping someone could help me with my google dynamic dns problem. i am trying to use microsoft remote desktop (remotely) but i cant seem to get my laptop to point at my desktop
I mean, what is the record saying
it should the ip of what you want to point to
yea i got google to point to my ip
i can even ping my ip via the domain
but for the life of me i cant seem to get my desktop to pick up anything
so ddns is working
yea there must be something wrong with the ports? idk i need help im not well versed in any of this and mostly a hack and slash my way through this many years ago
- You do not want to do that
- you would need to port forward as well and/or open the corresponding ports
do not expose RDP to the internet
please
use Rd gateway instead with firewalls in and out
or some sort of tunnel
tunnel being the easiest
Hey everyone, I am trying to install the Community Apps section on my unraid server, and I keep getting a network failure message
can you english that for me i dont understand
repeating the same thing doesn't help, if no one knows the answer, they won't respond. Most people here don't use unraid and I think it's really bad
the port forwarding is done on the router no? i've set that up correctly imo idk
I only expose it to my school's public range π€£
yeah, but don't port forward rdp
ok so can you guide me through an alternative
would really appreciate any advice here
a wireguard tunnel would work. PiVpn is a tool that makes installing wireguard pretty easy. You would basically port forward to the wireguard server and then from anywhere you would connect to the tunnel and then access your home network
I only repeated because no one was responding and I'm really stuck and no where has an answer. And LTT use unraid a lot on most of there servers and include them in their videos when they do a server video so thought people on here would know
The only thing bad about unraid imo is the storage system
thing is, most people here that know stuff here actually do not like unraid
yeah it's real bad
The VMs/container part of it is actually pretty decent
isn't it freebsd or no?
no
erm ok thanks
unraid is slackware
isn't that worse...?
π€£ yes
no clue about slackware
if I had to custom build a NAS, which I'd rarely do, it would be TrueNAS
i dont quite get... what im going to do with this pivpn but i'll come back here if i have questions thanks
you just run the installer on a debian based system
i guess my problem is my home computer is a windows pc...
it guides you through it, at least last time I did it
and im quite averse to.... installing another OS
oh yeah, not everyone has a server
yea for me its rerally just a quick and dirty way to access some files on the go as needed
yea so.. how do i do it without debian
is that possible at all?
it seems that wireguard has a windows installer?
yeah for client tho
pretty sure
actually no
yeah you maybe could do it, but it's windows so prob harder
port forwarding
im looking for a good new router and modem that supports my full 1.2 gigabit speed, i was wondering what suggestions you guys have, i have like my stock router modem combo from the internet service provider, but im looking to upgrade it, to something nice, most id be willing to put out is like $500-600
Depends on who your ISP is. Generally they have a list of "supported" modems
Ah okay and what about like router wise?
Are you looking to get a modem/router combo (all in one box) or a separate modem and router as stand-alone units?
Comcast Customer Service is here to provide Help and Support for your Xfinity Internet, TV, Voice, Home and other services.
Check to see what supported modems are in your area.
Technically you can use any DOCSIS modem. But you want to purchase one that's on that supported list; because only they (xfinity) can push firmware updates to them for maintenance. Not you or the Modem manufacture
Ah okay thanks
Arris is a good brand
I've got an SB8200 myself even though I'm only paying for 100 mb down
Can handle gigabit per port
So if I wanted gigabit, I just have to call xfinity to upgrade my subscription. Within moments the modem becomes provisioned for gigabit speeds
As for a routers, that depends on how easy you want it to be
Netgear is pretty easy. But if you want good performance, you can look into an EdgeRouter
I would prefer a router than requires minimal setup, and has enough coverage for 1700 sq ft
That*
WiFi 6?
With the latest 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6 technology, AmpliFi Alien delivers 4x the overall network capacity and 2x the coverage while reaching true gigabit speeds. It features a tri-band radio with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz 802.11ax radios optimized for Wi-Fi 6 performance and backwards compatibility with previous Wi-Fi standards. The
If you can find it. Seem hard at the moment
It looks dope asf
Idk seems really pricy
Looks like it's in their store after all. Used to be on Amazon, guess they only sell direct now
Ik
And not gigabit on wifi
Ik, I use Ethernet rn
Better than some chrome books tbh
Is there any routers with like two 2.5G ports
So Iβd get the full speed? Or are they really expensive ?
Just curious
Alot more expensive
^
Sometimes tbh 10gig can be cheaper than 2.5g
^
Damn
Sfp+ has been out for a while
You would be better off with a gigabit router, but then put a 10 gig switch between it and your devices that need 2.5
for LAN
That one mikrotik 10g switch is like 130 bucks iirc
Not bad, but then you gotta remember transceiver cost, and also you can't do all copper transceivers on that thing
Iβll just stick with gigabit, and with gigabit is it 1000mbs or Iβve heard technically speaking itβs only 930mbs
For that Alienware router specifically
Alien*
When it comes to internet speeds, what matters is latency. Honestly, higher internet speeds is only good for concurrent streaming in HD or 4K or when you want to download lots of data quickly. But for gaming, latency is about the same with 50mb as it is gigabit
So it really depends on what your goals are
Yeah, my family just has a lot of devices and family/ friends over a lot so we pay for a gigabit
Yes, I agree. Gigabit would be the way to go
Alri thanks
np
from what I've seen the plan that has custom domains is relatively expensive
and also they have 2 year billing which is something that I don't think I want
btw I found out for zoho I don't even have to pay to get myself domain support
Yeah, but then you won't be able to use any other mail clients, except for zoho webmail and their mobile app
I was looking to buy a network switch does anyone have a good recommend for 50~ or less. My throughput is 1000mb up and down. Trying to hook up three PCs. My partner and my PC, My minecraft / plex server.
I was thinking direct ethernet would help ping in game, and get more of the up and down stream switching from wifi
Really less latency probably, less than 1-2ms
(using an switch that is)
Hey guys, is the best way to get a wired mobile hotspot (phone) through a usb c to ethernet adapter with passthrough power and then to a switch?
https://ganer.xyz/s/CDxSsi should i be concerned about this?
https://ganer.xyz/s/Hmzrfx wait im a dumbass this is just chrome and minecraft
at least its using the same port that minecraft uses, 25565
Good day guys,
I changed my router to the tp-link ax1500
But I couldnβt get WiFi 6 or speed above 200mbps
Iβve tried to change the channels and other options oso
My internet is capable of 500mbps
Can anyone help me out here? TqπΆπ½
Need help to find a Network card for my trueNAS system I built. Dual Gigabit with Network Aggregation any ideas anyone?
@waxen scroll So this place is going to run out of ports on their 8 port switch in one area....should I upgrade/replace that switch or get another switch?
Some ports are 100Mbps and just basic control
Upgrade!
Because they will probably add 2 cams, an ATEM, and a web pres to the existing switch
But the switch already has an AP, a laptop, a mixer, and the uplink
if a pc doesnt have wireless adapter or ethernet cable can ur computer connect to the internet?
sorry if its a dumb question, never had a pc before so idk much, and ping me if someone replies
I don't know if "connect your mobile phone with USB" count external of those but it's another way to connect to the internet.
Guys I kinda need some help with a router I have
I have a spare router and I wanna use it as a wireless bridge to extend the network of my main router
I don't know a lot bou routers so I'm kinda confused what to do now
Will you transceive or receive WiFi signal?
From my main router??
From your second
It does work like a normal router but I don't receive any signal from any router in the wireless bridge menu
.
Bridge is from WIFI to cable and Access point from cable to WiFi
Oooh
So which one should I use??
It depends
If you want to transmit wireless Internet or receive it
Receive it to the second router and then use it as an extender
If that makes any sense
So you mean it as repeater?
network.
Omg that's cancer
Don't fall for "gaming router" marketing
I need a good router
I don't know what to get
Im gonna get a 1000MBPs internet conection soon
Hey I'm in same situation, I'm looking for router - fastest wireless speed will be great (For data sharing in same network, and game streaming by moonlight or steam streaming)
1000 MBps or 1000 Mbps ?
All you need to make sure is that it hits the speeds you want, or supports the protocol you want
This type
Guys, but IDK which brand is ok, which will be supported long time or on which I can install custom software etc.
You said that We should never buy "gaming" routers, so which ones would you recommend?
Routers should route and Access Points handle wifi - consumer (and ISP provided) combination units are generally trash.
If all your subnet traffic is going out one interface it's not like you need a beefy router function lol
capital B is usually for bytes and lowercase B is usually for bits
M being the prefix for Mega as in million for bits it would be 1000 million bits per second
in Bytes the M isn't Mega it's Mebi which is 1024 kibibytes
but base-2 counting is annoying so we just say mega for both
network speed is almost always in bits (1s and 0s) per second
Quick answer for dumb ppl like me - MBps = steam download speed Mbps = speed tests speed
MB = storage
Mb = Data transfer
Data is stored in bytes since the smallest unit of data is 1 byte
Data is transferred in bits (1 or 0) since it's on or off.
Steam, browsers, and some other apps default to bytes for some reason and it doesn't help that ISPs like to put everything in caps so it blurs the lines for most people
Bit and Byte are just data units like Meter and Kilometer are length units. If you travel 1Km you can say you have travelled 1000 Meters. Similarly, if you transfer 1Byte of data you can say you have transferred 8Bits of data.
So speeds in Mbps or MBps are also similar in that fashion.
@rocky badge All the power! I'm curious what the AC setup is like for this house too
https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeDataCenter/comments/pira9v/power_for_the_home_dc/
Take your Mbps data rate, divide by 8, thats how much Megabytes per second it is pulling
Isnt it kinda false? For example PciE bandwitch is using MB not Mb same for drives GB per sec not Gb
PCIE is not using MB, it is just showing MB for user's easiness. In reality all data is transferred in bits.
Oh yes, I just said it's "used" to compare
ment*
But now I get your point
So anyways π Any good router recommendation? Maybe what company should I pick?
What are you looking to achieve? Better wifi? Consistent wired transfers? etc..
Ah, I see now, scrolled up some more
Ok, so basically I want very good wifi transfers + stability (Cant lay cables - im renting flat) + it would be great to have 10gbit maybe(?) to futureproof it a bit.
And whats important for me - it needs to be kinda safe you know community support and/or frequent updates
10Gbps is overkill for a home lol
Well you won't get 10gig with wifi today but a UniFi Wifi 6 AP would do nice and then a mikrotik or unifi router or switch
TP-Link's omada series APs are decent from what I heard
Ah, no worries, I've seen people ask for weird things π
π Im sure you do π
hmm I heard only good stuff about mikrotik
do you think it will be better to do microtik + unify ap than some tplink?
Probably, if you only need 2 or 3 10g ports then this would do nicely and then a 1gig link to the main switch
https://www.servethehome.com/mikrotik-crs305-1g-4sin-review-4-port-must-have-10gbe-switch/
omada wifi is pretty good
If you need compact I would go with TP-Link for a router/switch/AP combo and then toss in a 10gig switch like the Mikrotik linked above
Good to know π
just looking on the specs online, they don't look good
Yah, I guess I shouldn't have assumed if the APs were good the other stuff would be half decent, lol
Always good to double check that stuff
switches may seem okay, but routers def not
although I just checked, and they removed a bunch of routers and there's only 2 new ones
I might be dumb but whats the difference between router and a switch?
π
switches make packets go brrrrrrr within a subnet
routers tell packets where to go between subnets
Obviously the lines blur a bit with more expensive gear but that's the general idea
so like you have a subnet like 192.168.1.0/24. A switch basically will switch packets within the same network (Layer 2). Meanwhile a router will route packets between subnets (Layer 3)
so in order to move packets between networks you need a router
Oh ok, so if I want subnet for my smart devices and guests I can make them separate to my pcs etc.?
yeah, you can either just use different ports on the router and make them a different subnet, or utilize vlans
oh nice
also, vlans just "carry" subnets/networks, lots of people confuse that
i tought vlan = virtual subnet xD
kinda, but all it really does it tag the packet with a tag, telling the other network device what vlan it's on
virtual LAN
Sometimes you can Tag a Switch Port to be on a vLAN Sometimes the Device you can just config it to a vlan, sometimes Both.
aaa make sense now
so like here, it's just 3 LANs, and the switches are tagging the packet from a client, putting it over the trunk, and the other switch untags it
so instead of 3 switchs you can have just one
And being on diff vlans doesnt necessarily mean isolation for some routers default. Sometimes the routers will by default configure routing between vlans openly sometimes you have to configure the router to allow specific communications between the 2 networks
and in that diagram since there is no router, a computer on vlan 10 can't talk to a computer on vlan 20, if those switches are just purely switching
And this is why L3 Switches have their huge benefits too. With normal L2 Switches, to talk to another device on the same switch, the data has to go all the way back up to the router then back down to the same switch
L3 Switches can do the routing to just route traffic from one port to another without tying up the uplink
A good example of use for this would be: Security Cameras + the NVR.
I need to process this all, but I think im starting to get it
Instead of tying up the router for handling recording internally, the L3 Switch can handle that.
or VoIP Phones and/or Intercoms
Also, Servers that talk to each other mainly. You reduce latency and overall strain on the entire LAN by isolating intercommunication on the switch itself instead of having the router handle all the weight
ah thats cool stuff - I guess its like a rabbit hole xD
its a huge rabbit hole
dynamic routing
but once you get the fundamentals down, its easy to keep going
probably π
yeah I mean I never needed to deal with any network stuff tbh so its all very hard to me ;D
Its worth noting, just recently there has been huge developments in "Hybrid Network Appliances" that are Software Defined.
This is basically Switches that can be a Router, a L3 Switch, a Switch, or a Firewall/etc based on how you configure it/which software you load.
yeah i was thinking about this
So instead of buying purpose built network gear, you just buy based on performance needs, rack and stack, then configure for use
why on earth you need all those divices when you could just write the code for that
there's also software based routers and firewalls
performance, like optimized chips are better than a general cpu
Well, for one it used to be the hardware was handling some of the logic + the software
good point
With FPGAs becoming prevalent, they are being used now to handle networking gear
Which means all the logic is now done on the FPGA and can easily be software defined entirely
I wonder if programming fpga is hard π
Not really tbh
btw. need to go on a walk with dogger brb π
there's arduino fpgas to get started
not really compared to lets say java :P?
Well, there is Java Applet Frameworks just for FPGAs now
never used them though
Xilinx has a library for this, which is the FPGA OEM Intel is using in their Software Defined Network Gear thats leading the market rn
and these happen to also usually be Xilinx FPGAs too kek
https://www.xilinx.com/products/boards-and-kits/alveo/sn1000.html this guy is the first/newest "SmartNIC" which is 100% Software Defined Hardware Accelerated, FPGA Based Network Card
And boy is it kewl
This guy is a cool play
never done fpga stuff
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779PC8S4/ This one is wild too
Really its hard to find a DIY Usecase for something like this, so not surprised.
Its really only handy for Dynamic Hardware Usecases.
They are great for Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Multimeters, etc
I know quite a few of my tools use FPGAs for that to maintain high sample rates and automatic signal classification, etc
oh my god Sponaugle lol
hi so I got some VMs on Oracle cloud (for testing) and I'm trying to get ports to work...so you need to to open a port on panel so 0.0.0.0/0 and on the VM sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --zone=public --add-port=80/tcp or similar. That's on their docs and followed, but I don't see it opened nor I can apply for SSL with certbot:
like that's correct what I'm making, speaking of docs breh
whats a small house solution that i can get wifi all around the house i was thinking 2 WAPs and a switch for my second floor office
That works, just run Ethernet to the APs
i have a ubuquiti WAP and i want to add another one for the garden
is it worth getting a POE switch
Is it worth getting a managed switch for a house ?
Do you use vlans, link aggregation
not really what could i use it for ?
i know what it is but im not sure if i would have a use case for it
Segregation
hmmm i dont think so
3 laptops 2 pcs 5 phones and a ps4 will be connected to it plus i want to eventually build a NAS and a pihole with that. Will it come useful then?
i do im studying that right now
I have all my network devices on a separate VLAN, and then have another for all my public facing servers, another for my lan, another for guests
oh yeah i could probably use a managed one
can i make more than one network out of one WAP /
?
Ofc
I installed nginx to see if certonly isn't working but it's the same..
@autumn bay
oh ok i get that
i wanted a ubiquiti build all over my new house but it seems to be very expensive
I need https to even add the server to the server manager thing...
imma check that out
the software tho may take a while to learn
but I have this (just need to install it) https://mikrotik.com/product/hex_s
is it bad or is it just not begineer friendly
rn I have the er-x
beginner friendly for the most part
usually you could try the OS at http://demo.mt.lv/ but it doesn't seem to be up rn
do i use their switch ?
or will the netgear one do the job ?
and if i run ethernet up to the 2nd floor i will need a switch from the router to a switch and then switch to accessories or am i missing something here ?
What you want
but what would be better in you opinion
Ummm, what?
Idk, never used a mtik switch
You can chain switches if you are asking that?
Router, switch, client
the router will be downstairs and im planning to run a cable to the 2nd floor so i can get ethernet up there
Router has a chip in it anyway
Reasonable
then i will use a switch to fan that out to accessories
Yeah
does that make sense ?
Yeah , I do something similar
Router goes to main switch
Only one Ethernet cable
Then from main switch it goes to clients, and 2 other switches upstairs
oh ok i get that
i think im going to build the design for now on packet tracer
unless there is a better application i can use to draw it out
oh :)
The things with 3 boxes inside are switches right?
yeah
And what's rou
router
Oh, I misread wap as wan
Don't see why it wouldn't
You could get rid of the first switch, router has switch in it
also with routers should i upgrade from the stock one
If you want to mess with networking, yeah
i have heard anything else will do
Messing with vlans and firewalls
Trying to set up a second pool for trueNAS so that it will back up the first pool can anyone help me with this?
if i dont figure it out i can always ask my godfather he does networking
also the company in the UK BT uses WLAN
nope some of them are stand alone routers that have the modem for fibre built in
Oh
You mean as in having an all in one
Yeah, Er-X, HEX don't have wifi
My ONT from Verizon is great
The UK sucks
Just connect Ethernet to my router and get DHCP address
Ez
Unlike the other provider, Optimum which has fiber where the ont is the wifi router
oh and not to mention this router has a feature if you unplug it and plug it in within 5 mins the capacitors go pop
And that sucks, where you have to do passthrough and like I heard even that doesn't work well
And neither have ipv6
oh last question i have is should i get a wifi 6 router for future proofing?
i have a 150 mbps connection now but im going to get a 250 or 300mbps upgrade
You mean APs, no need for wifi if you are going to use APs. I mean sure, but if you want to save some money I don't see why. All my devices that actually use alot of bandwidth are on Ethernet and wifi is just for phones and laptops
So like, no need for that insane wifi
oh ok thanks for the help it really helped
i have ran into a pit of doom
a managed switch costs like 30 more than the standard model
i have a budget of like 120 gbp for 2 switches i was thinking 8 ports but i need PoE ports. Can PoE be turned off on a specific port ?
So there's different types of poe. Active and passive
Basically poe switches output active poe
i know what you mean
So if a device doesn't need poe it won't send power
But on my main switch I can disable poe on a port
is there something you can recommenced for that price range ?
the MikroTik company is sold out or overpriced
I don't know much regarding switch hardware, I have this Netgear which I hate, and this unifi usw flex mini which I also dislike because I need to run unifi controller
The Netgear software is just bad... And it doesn't work with ipv6 apparently
Which ipv6 doesn't care about what it's switched through
So it must be doing something weird
Idk, or maybe I was doing something wrong
im going to get a WAP the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LITE WLAN
i already have one and i am really happy with it
Just be advised you need to either use the phone app or setup the controller
Has no webui
i have the app already
thats why i wanted something from them but one switch is a lot more than i have
But for like seamless roaming you need the controller
I don't like ubiquiti much either
no one in my family will be using this stuff
im the only person that knows anything about it
Same, no one else except my brother who knows a little
For his mc server
Gave him a proxmox account and a VM to use, and just do it himself
my parents just see this as useless stuff but i know that the new house wont have wifi upstairs
Although my parents do like having Ethernet
do you think i can run a pihole, NAS and a vpn on a pi ?
My mom had some wifi issues due to drivers, and I used it as an excuse to run Ethernet
looooool
