#networking
1 messages · Page 103 of 1
So I'm trying to look up what networking certs I should get for intro level jobs and maybe for running the it part of astartup(a theoretical one but realistic enough that i should learn more about networking), and from what I've read comptia A+ and network+ seem to be the way to go. Would anyone have suggestions as to other certs to look at or a suggestion of an entirely different path?
Yo guys I got a problem. I got a shit wifi router and I can’t just move it closer to my PC . Do u think I could still get decent speeds wth like a 250ft Ethernet cable? Can I even use a 250ft Ethernet cable?
1000 ft limit
Ok
@small prism specific company certs for CISCO / Juniper / HP and so on, look up your local networking companies, they might even offer training + entry level job
Thank you! I’m still mainly learning for self interest, but I’ll keep that in mind and check them out!
I know it's the incremental versioning for it, but I find it funny that this fairly absurd jump in ethernet speeds is called "802.3bs" 802.3 bullshit.
Wait, that's not Ethernet though, that's fibre.
I have a question, how come usually upload speeds are lower than download speeds?
I mean, it couldn't cost isps that much more
I'm gessing its cause the average person downloads more, so they'd make more money off of people wanting a higher upload
@ashen lily I would pay to get faster upload speeds 😃
and? i never asked who would
I know, I hate my 5Mbps up...
my bad upload speeds http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6947065362.png
Holy shit, can I have your isp
why?
I get 11 down and less than 1 up
oh
anyone can get a business connection normally
its just if you can afford it :p
thats one of our business lines in one of our Datacenters, although its only guarenteed 100mbit and its being used
how is what faster than fios?
faster "starting" speeds
basically, they dont offer anything less than 100mbps :p
fios do
ive been tempted to up my speeds to 1gb
at home
but i cant justify it :p
yeah, all charter in our area starts at 100Mbps
yeah multigigabit from Xfinity
not bad price to be honest
we dont have fiber or xfinity in our area
interesting, i think they got rid of the plan im on
well the plan im on
im paying 90$ a month
and i get around 250
however
thats hilarious
it does go up after 12 months
but its less than im paying now
yup
ill have to speak to the GF as im moving in with her shortly, so ill need to take control of the internet :p
lol
hmmm, just upgraded one of my Unifi aps and its not reconnecting to the controller
thats the thing
its up
pingable
accessible
just not connecting tot he controller
lets see if i labeled it on the switch so ic an power it off lol
lol
yay i did 😃
labeling
rip.. at least its easy though
ill go for lunch first and see if it settles down, otherwise ill go dig it out of the ceiling and fix it
ok
Doesn't look to bad 😃
What for connection do you have?
?
are you asking if pod has fiber or cable? @torn stump
I have dial-up
lol
No, is it a buisness connection?
lol
lol
that would be more expensive
I might actually use my Pis now https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/piserver/
cri
To do a render farm with Pis, you would just need to have a network render server that can be run on a Pi and then maybe use PiServer to control a huge Pi farm (or at least some kind of app to config and control multiple Pis rapidly (like a VM provisionner))
hmm
Maybe not that much because of the speed but maybe more than I think because of the multicore stuff
Yeah, i dunno
Having a lot of 4 core machines rendering a single image could be faster than a similar cost render server
I would definetly do some maths to know the cost of a render machine and how many Pis you can buy for the same amount
4 I think
no HT 😃 and a ~1 GHz ?
Quad Core 1.2GHz Broadcom BCM2837 64bit CPU
And 1Gb of ram
This could be anoying to render some stuff...
And cost effectively, we would need some fast SD card, and they arent cheap...
the 100mbit ethernet sucks on the Pi
Yes, its really enoying that the rpi's only have 100mbit ethernet
There are other singleboard computers that have Gbit ethernet and even usb 3.0
my banana pi m3 has gigabit and I love it
Pi doesn't even have USB 3 for Gigabit Ethernet Adapters ?
Yeah, so adapter isn't even thinkable...
i have the worst internet
negative ping isnt poossible @elder spear
@rocky badge sure it is, it just means the servers give me my searches before i hit enter
The lowest is <1 locally. Light can olny travel so fast
clearly you havent seen my internet
I've got a cheapo talk talk router at home, connected to loads of others. Would it be worth replacing it with a modem & PF Sense one? Or is that too overkill for a home setup?
Pfsense is never too overkill
If its network nothing is overkill
Also, on a slightly different note. Have you guys got those free Meraki APs & switches?
And are they any good?
Free?
This is an introduction to my custom-designed computer cluster based on the Raspberry Pi. More information can be found at http://likemagicappears.com/projec...

@warped aurora Free Meraki Ap's and switched? Explain
You just attend a webinar and they send out a switch/ AP for free. Give me a sec and I'll grab the link.
You want the "Cloud managed ethernet switching" for the switch or the "Cloud managed wifi" for a free AP.
nice but not living in any of these counties 😦
yup
lol
Anyone have a business email i can use?
no
@agile basin Send me a fiver and I'll set you up with a custom email.
What do you want your name to be?
i got it
?
I just registered an email with my domain
Ok, cool.
Hmm... guess I’ll use my company email to do this.
Even though we use Ruckus and Ubiquiti for wireless
do what ?
ahh meraki, i actually only see the cloud managed wifi one unfortunately
nvm found it 😃 who doesnt love a good switch
just a shame the equipment doesnt function without valid licenses, kinda annoying if i want to take it home :p
@elder spear do a dslreports.com speed test
not only does the bandwidth matter, but the grades
i know you're using a timing hack
or other hacks 😛
or just photoshop 😛
dslreports uses different colours, so you cant photoshop what you dont know
It's inspect element nub. Also known as a joke
I thought this channel would be like /r/homelab, but it seems just to be internet speeds 😞
Yup sadly @vagrant heath some are actually questions others are speeds
Is this how you crimp
Nani?
The class required to take the other CCNA classes
what is ccna?
i was wondering why i couldnt join an online rocket league match smh
Cisco Certified Network Associate
Hey @dull iron
Do I win?
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/28163397.png
Nein
Lies.
Ah yess, just finished upgrading a customers home with 7 x Ruckus R610 and a ZoneDirector.
Love that system
@vagrant heath seems like your ISP is filtering you. Good result but your speed test is higher and you only had 24 out of 32 streams
that shows filtering
@agile basin what was your bufferbloat? If it was cached your bufferbloat must suck
definitely not right as you should be seeing a large range of pings
I was confused... so i re-ran it, and it was normal
did you select the fiber test?
Yes
you must have 32 servers around you
I wish
but why is there no bufferbloat?
His ping is -0 ms
why isn't it 10G then?
Only the MDF gets 10g
kk
ahh ok
Motherfucker changing your porfile picture again
Lol
what would hapen if i plugged a crossover cable in to two ports on my router, would it explode?
Yes 😄
Nah, it would give you INFINITE INTERNET
@agile basin if that is true i want monye form anyone that does that becase i figured out how to get free inter net
lol
😃
Actually, i already know how to get infinite internet
@agile basin how?
I used a thiojoe video it worked!
@agile basin you forgot the spiter so you could use it
@agile basin if its wifi your neighbors will steal it
My neighbors would be too dumb to do that
is it password
im conected
haha free inter net
you just blocked yoursealf and the internet is now mine
no
I blocked you
because my mac addresses are on an un-blockable list
so i cant block them
whats a good rj45 crimper
umm
There are no GOOD ones per-say
just get a metal one that fits your connectors, and you're good
because ive been using pliers and a screw
i didnt want to wait for a crimper
oml
and wanted to make keychains
hmm ok
ye
Is SoftEther VPN Server good? It SEEMS to be working
Yeah it is
I wanna get some toughts on this internet setup i'm doing when I move. I wanna have ethernet ports in the wall so I can plug in anywhere in the house (There will be Cat7 in the walls) So, I'm thinking of doing my setup like this, Cable coming in, going to Modem (provided by isp, can't skip that) then, into the wall, upstairs, into my TP Archer C5400. From there I would like to split it up with a swich and connect every cable in the walls to that. I also wanna put some wireless ap's or routers so I have full coverage in and around my house. I think this is a good setup, but I would like to get your input. Should I change something? Do you recommend a specific switch? (I would like to future proof my house, so maybe 10Gigabit everywhere in the house?) At least I want 1Gigabit lan. I'm planning on adding a NAS and some security cams too. I'm worried that I won't have enough ports on the switch to connect everything. Do you have a similar setup? Please tell me how you set it up. Thanks 😄
But how about distrubuting it troughout my house? Do you think this is a god way?
There is no Cat7 Ethernet defined by the TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association)
I'm sure there is "Cat7" Ethernet, but its not an offical standard.
yep
"Category 7 is not recognized by the TIA/EIA"
"Category 7A is not recognized in TIA/EIA-568"
"Category 8 was ratified by the TR43 working group under ANSI/TIA 568-C.2-1"
"Category 8 is designed only for data centers where distances between switches and servers is short. It is not intended for general office cabling."
So there is Cat8 Ethernet.
Cat7 Ethernet is snake oil
Who gives a crap if it ain't defined by some group of people
Is it a modem/router or a modem?
modem/router (the one my isp provides) but I won't use that one for wifi
Rip
Unplug everything and plug it back in (including modem) and restart every device (router, desktop, smartphone etc.) Then try again
Works every time for me lol
@thick minnow what AP?
@desert moss that CAT 7 cable sounds like snake oil to me
Lmao
Cat7 cable isn't snake oil per se
It's capable of 100Gb/s at <15m distances, and 10Gb/s at >=15m distances.
I'd just go with cat6 or cat6a
cat6 will do 10Gb/s up to 55m, then 1Gb/s past that, and cat6a will do 10Gb/s up to 100m
Yeah, I'm gonna go with cat6a. I tought Cat7 was official, I heard it somewhere and assumed it was
And what about the switch? Which one should I get?
Also, is this a good setup? am i not gonna run into trouble with subnets? I'm planning on having ap's (or some routers) connected to a router, I'm not sure if that'll be an issue?
Not sure about a switch
How many people and devices do you plan to have on there?
Need/want it to be managed or unmanaged?
I want to have My workstation, My desktop, home media pc and a NAS connected via cable, then a few phones laptops, etc on wifi (I know this doesn't matter for a switch) About 5-8 devices I guess would be connected via cable. I want to be able to connect my desktop (or any device via cable) to the wall and have a 1/10GBit link to every device on the network, especially to the nas. I would like a managed switch, but don't really know if I would get any benifit from it. Are there any outstanding things a managed switch can that an unmanaged can't?
having 10gbit to every device, will be costly so i guess it also depends how much you want to spend
an all 10gbit switch will cost you >500$ i think
Yeah, well, don't wanna spend too much, I would have Cat6a cables so they would be 10Gbit ready but for now have a 1Gbit link
depending on the number of ports
Yeah, don't wanna spend that kind of money for only a switch
i was planning on using an old pc to run a minecraft servers for my friends, do i have to have the computer plugged directly into my router for it to work or can i plug it into a switch?
Also. Don't run a Minecraft Server on Windows.
Minecraft servers run like garbage on Windows
Run it on Mac
I see people talking about running mc server either on windows or ubuntu, go for ubuntu.. pls.. Tried running a server on a dedicated with 2012 r2, wasnt very good compared to ubuntu ❤
Im trying to get remote HyperV to work, then run a VM of Ubuntu Server...
@hallow vortex https://i.imgur.com/CkdkapO.png
I wouldnt be that much of a help, last time i touched dedis at all was 3 years ago.
But im curios, how much ram did you allocate for ubuntu? (or for the mc-server to.)
Thought 2 gb was enough, hmm.. Maybe it has changed over the years.
2gb is enough, I just want to have more if needed
kk
for a small server
Ubuntu uses so little resources for the os, so i think 4 gb should far enough x)
yeah
anyone know what this is? https://i.imgur.com/f2Y7l4U.png
lol
I don't have any idea Actually
Windows thinks my home domain is a work domain. smh
If something like Hacking occurs on my Pc or even some weird malware / adware, I don't mind to format
I thought windows was suposed to be smarter
I dont wanna really reset my PCs
oh!
its not data, its my setup
I dont wanna set up all of this agian @versed terrace https://i.imgur.com/4MFJTmp.png
how would i put one of my sdds and hhds so others could access it ?
@thick minnow Are you trying to share it internaly to only computers on your network as a network drive, or externaly where anyone can access it?
This is why I'm not a dog person
Well damn, Comcast upped my speed again
used to be 90/12, now 120/12
All I want is my cat, no doggos
The actual speed usually faster than the speed that they advertised
Spectrum
heh, heh, heh...
My speeds are 100 but are ~110
Rip
@tulip pecan http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6963574031.png
Mine were up to 75Mb/s but I was getting 90
now they're up to 100Mb/s and I get 120Mb/s
Near us we can get Xfinity 150... but not in our area 😦
Look like Jake is playing pubg at work
My friend could get 2 gigabit
Near me I think I can get gigabit from Spectrum, but not where I'm at specifically
I have fiber in my area
umm
umm
we pay ~200$ per mo for our whole bill
tv, phone, internet
I could get 300Mbps from Spectrum Business though...
I could get 2Gb/s from Comcast, but it's like $400/month
300Mbps from Business is ~100$?
How
well, it's Business
It's only 80 buck per month from att 1gb
well. Its charter
Ik it's for business
well... its american internet speeds/pricing
I'm in the us too
"Professional Installation"
erm i call bull
bullcrap
I have a different role than you, you can trust me
😄
blue > green
see it in person then i might belive it
how to be a idiot
say that a color makes someone more trustable cause they pay to see videos a week early
and i have a storage bottlenceck
Lol
SCIENCE
also, it's only $3.
and we get exclusive content
and we don't have to stay in the cancerous general channel;s
I would only pay to get access to pilot chat 😄
Indeed
Lets stick to #networking
oof
i give 0 cares that 3 dollars is 3 dollars more fishing gear :P
XD
we'll try
XD
Not well try
So uhh, how quick do you think consumer 10 gig will get here?
You will
ok
technicly consumer 10gb is here just costs a ton and needs ex server stuff
cloudflare, stop advertising to me... https://i.imgur.com/WR8BuKE.png
I need more than gigabit...
^
also, PROsumer 10G is here
I have 0 things that support it 😄 so it would be expensive
Ye you see the problem is right there XD
but inform me when a laptop under $500 has a 10G nic
Or use 10 1 Gig Dongels XD
YES
now now not everyone uses mac
i've never sigened up for sling.. https://i.imgur.com/TPkK9kH.png
eww Mac
You could....
There is a nice button for that Ryois its called Delete
only good thing about them is the touchbar and the LOOK of the OS
lol
what is.. delete?
USB 3.1 Gen 2 C or A to Ethernet
yeah
😮
that would be funny if I could click delete https://i.imgur.com/Zzlhyh5.png
Lol
Lol
I can see every student, teacher, staff, etc accounts https://i.imgur.com/Ha99Yot.png
It's not AD though
LDAP?
I think so
what OS do you use at school?
Linux
I wish I could change my role... https://i.imgur.com/XozCfyW.png
kek
we barely use it
Never used it
the only time we used it was when our teachers were playing around with it
never used it since
Because the teachers broke it ?
Lol
ummmmm
yeah
we rarely use it
not like that was important or anything... https://i.imgur.com/tVj0cQR.png
try ?web=0
You could work for linus lol
rekt
not in my recycle bin.. https://i.imgur.com/LEnyuTs.png
did you ever have a Document2.docx?
yes
you suuuuure?
Second stage recycle bin???
yup
why?
idk
kk
I have the best profile picture in the county! https://i.imgur.com/ORzFGcQ.png
no
umm
if it was me, i would have shopped a 9 over the 7
it's not threadripper smh
or maybe an even number of some description
o
i thought his/her initals were FU
XD
So, the teacher in my school may or may not have saved their password in chrome and I may or may not have the password now and may or may not be reading/downloading every file that may be usefull for me from the school website... cough cough
...
People, secure your passwords...
its called my dad 😄 I know his school passwords
I could screw with students grades...
haha, I could too, but won't
I can see/edit any info about anyone in the whole school, students, teachers, private numbers, emails, adresses etc....
tfw you get kicked out of school for data protection laws
unless there's nothiong private ofc
I'm gonna notify the principal and let them know...
I may or may not have found a hidden admin account...
if you know what service goes with this port w/o googling it good for you! https://i.imgur.com/5muTpvi.png
I may or may not have access (another username/password account) to the fileserver of the new upcoming website of the school lol
...
no.
http rpc epmap
I used to use 10.0.0.1 for my local lan subnet
set the modem and router both to 192.168.0.1 lol
Yeah, I changed it after that
Welp i was gonna watch a movie on my xbox but my ear plugs are in my jack downstairs ..... and its 2 am Fml
lol
wow
I am in need of a bigger plex server XD
Allready using 1.5Tb of the 2Tb
RIP
I have my earplugs so now i can watch a movie 😄
yay
😮
Damn
rip pc
^
yay, only the admin account is still loggin in
Time to do nothing iligal but open openvpn XD
Oh yay
Not bad
is RDP only business or can i use it at home
if you have pro or server your machine can be a host
home, pro, server, ios, android, web browsers can be clients
Sounds like a hell of a bill for the odd once a year tech support 😛
lol
Use a free one and have it so I can remote it at ANY| point? Think that's what im going for
as long as the pc is on
Want it so they just have to turn it on tbh.
I think teamviewer will start running even on the lock screen after boot
They only have a single account without a password so can't see that being an issue
it'll just sign in IIRC
can't remember if Windows 10 changed that, been a bit iffy with that one
I NEED 4 1080p or higer monitors
usually has a "Sign In" screen with just a button lol
lol
Why do you NEED? 😛
my 4 rdp sessions are 1080p
XD
I could use 720p but I dont feel like it
Or 1 55Inch 4K tv XD
input lag 101
Ah that's fair enough
I want the Intel HD 4600 to suffer
suffer isnt even the word
Go play games XD
technincally its running "4K"
how is that scaled tho
4 1080p
oh woops
and the host monitor... some bad res though 😄
XD
4 1080p via rdp and the host monitor
Oh teh system you're remoted into is running 4
IEWL
lol
I could rdp into my guest account 😄
Use admin account to change the password
hides password incase somebody lives close and gets onto his LAN and logs in
Guest101 doesnt meet my min password requirements
what? Guest is a built in account and cannot be deleted
lol rip
Oh ps ryois i bought a minecraft creeper controller for my xbox XD
Just to piss my friends off XD
Could buy that one too but then i cant use the stock one XD
oh
Not that it would that much of a disaster XD
XD
my mom and dad can rdp from their ipads to access a windows pc
I wish Comcast would start upping my upload speed rather than my download speed
12Mb/s up is pathetic
too bad Server's task manager doesnt show gpu usage
umm
excuse me
I have 5
so shut up
lol
I have 20 up and it sucks .....
shut up
I'd take 100/50 over my 120/12
I just need more than what I have now, dl speed is good tho
I have 200/20 atm
I have ~110/5 id rather have 70/70 or 100/100
Then the 100/100 XD
and 25 ms ping...
100/100 would be nice
the guest account has to have admin perms to open task manager
RIP
running on my laptop rn
Oh rip
Not bad
already beating the pc
Lol
8/20 while the pc is on 7/20 and 4/20
lol
wow
The seasons are 28 gig and the movie 11.7 ......
lol
Fuck logic
Lol
with other crap running in the background, like idk 5 1080p rdp sessions ?
i shouldve done 4k...
Lol
changed the backgrounds https://i.imgur.com/1ewMokH.jpg
Oooo nice
Needs more displays
IEwl even 1080P look awefull on a smaller then 1080P display video youtube channel addon
IEWL
Lol
Or buy the bluray on amazon for like $20
could do that yeah
Use a flash drive and steal off someone elses internet
Or don't watch movies at all 😄
this is a good solution
The only time I watch movies is at a movie theater
Movie theaters are a struggle, I either go alone or not at all.. friends dislike the pricing lol
Lol
and shits so cheap on Google Play, but it comes in so late :/
Yeah
lo
Lmao
Hello guys im looking for some help here im hoping somone can point me in the right direction. I dont have access to my router but i need to plug in my DSL phone, Is there any way to sort of "tether" it from my PC? My PC has wifi and an ethernet port, i was just wondering if anybody knew how i could do this
To my knowledge, that's impossible @steel magnet
@west lantern - After a while someone told me this was called network bridging but i needed to change the ip config. if you are interested i saw how to do it here thanks anyways: https://www.wikihow.com/Bridge-an-Internet-Connection
Oh, thanks @steel magnet I didn't know that. Learned something new 😄
i had to call windows support haha
Haha, glad you found it 😄
bridge 2 10 gigabit switches? https://i.imgur.com/81MgA8l.png
do9 it
10x 10gbit connections 😦 https://i.imgur.com/7rgFUAP.png
Do NGINX reverse proxies count as networking in the context of this server? Because I could use some serious help with 'em.
They only "redirect" HTTP requests so I don't think you can call it "networking"
If I have a modem into a network switch, is there any reason that I can't connect a PC to that switch, but everything works fine if I go modem -> switch -> wireless router -> cable to a PC?
Probably for some IP address attribution, do your switch/modem gives IP by DHCP ?
Yeah, it should set the dynamic IP and DNS automatically, it just goes in a loop of "identfying the network" endlessly lol
Now that's what I like to see
Poi
Im looking to buy new switches for 80 appartments, I would like the switches to support full duplex ethernet at 1Gigabit i have a budget of 2.7k €, and im wondering if this switch would do: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cisco-3750G-Series-48-Port-Gigabit-Switch-WS-C3750G-48TS-E/372165289377?epid=74067524&hash=item56a6c7a5a1:g:AgYAAOSw9KhaMNBr
I intend to use SFP-10Gbit to SFP-10Gbit for the trunk uplink?
(48) - 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet ports. (4) - SFP-based Gigabit Ethernet ports. The Cisco Catalyst 3750 Series Switches are a premier line of enterprise-class, stackable, multilayer switches that provide high availability, security, and quality of service (QoS) to enhance the operation of the network. | eBay!
two of those switches?
yes
and are you limited to ebay or can you order from amazon or other sources?
i can order from whereever i want
Not sure, im running a pfsense comunity Dell server blade as a router doing all the DHCP, Current switches are 4 of Catalyst 2950 Series Device Manager - switch1
from cisco
and a fifth extearnal switch
no the router uses 2 simplex base 1000 cat 5e to communicate to the external switch
ok
to the apartments?
no the router feeds back in to the external switch which has incomming fiber sfp module and an outgoing which goes into an older optic standard in trunk uplink through the 4 switches
University feed from DiE (danish internet exchange) -> External switch (SFP-1gigbit) >Router(ethernet simplex out)>External switch(ethernet simplex in) ->Uplink to 2950 switch (old optic standard-1gigbit) -> Uplink to 2950 switch (old optic standard-1gigbit) ->Uplink to 2950 switch (old optic standard-1gigbit) -> Uplink to 2950 switch (old optic standard-1gigbit)
I can send an image?
sure
is this the 2950? https://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pedge/en/2950_specs.pdf
no, the 2950 is a cisco switch
ok
the router is an old dell server blade
Basically all the switches get their ip from the dell server
the 2950-24 is 10/100 is that ok?
yes on the ethernet
but id like the new switches to run 1000/1000
do you have a diagram?
I can make one, but it will take time i think it is quicker if i run to the hub and send an image
ok
the only preference i have is if it is within the budget and relative low maintenance, as I dont have the biggest voluntary squad, we are all amateurs and students so its hard to find help xD
lol
w/ the es48-500w its a 48 port switch so you'll need 2 of them to get at least 80 ports
they're 775$ each so ~1,500$ for the pair
the es48-500w has 2 sfp+ and 2 sfp with 48 regular gigabit rj45
SFP is 1gibit and sfp+ is 10?
yes
those would be perfect then
i think the cisco sg300-10 is sfp+
are they backwards compatible?
Yes, SFP+ cables are compatible to SFP ports and will work fine. SFP cables are not compatible to SFP+ ports.
or would i need an sfp - sfp+
I think they are.
cool then next year i will convince uni we need an upgrade for 10gigs xD
yeah but the incomming optic is only base 1000
oh
and people say sfp+ and sfp is no go together im trying to figure out what is right
is the isp giving you gigabit or 10 gigabit
gigabit, for now. we have 10gig on the other side of our module
ok
I dont think SFP+ can be plugged into SFP... but the other way around
the es-48-500w's sfp+ ports dont have to be used until you go sfp+ just use the sfp ports until then
this should do the trick right?:6m (20ft) Arista Networks CAB-SFP-SFP-6M Compatible 10G SFP+ Passive Direct Attach Copper Twinax Cable
to go into the es48-500w?
yes between the es48-500w and the SG300-10
but the sg300-10 isnt sfp+
yes
Before i buy optic modules do i need them to be of a certain type or can i rely on SFP alone to do the job?
hmm
I mean do i need to buy both optics and fibers for instance... or can I go cheap and go for coppers?
I think you can go copper?
I mean i found something called DAC direct attach cables which is like enclosures
for less than 10€
I think that would work
that would leave me at bit above 1400€
ok
I think ill go for it and then i still have money left over if something doesnt work, thank you so much for your guidance 😃
ok 😃
Man, I wish I could help, but i find IPv6 extremely strict in terms of what you can do with it, i only just managed to get IPv6 into subnets using routers 3 months ago, and I cant remember how.
ok
I think if the ISP does the DHCP, then you should set yourside to look for it, and if not, then set it to use DHCP.
What are you using for the advertisement?
AD = Active Directory
Fuck using IPv6 for local networks
I assumed it was Advertisement of IPv6
lol
well i kinda agree with @vagrant heath
when joining the domain it looked for dns records from the ipv6 dns instead of the ipv4
hmm i havent done file servers before... and user servers i dont remember, besides back then i used ipv4. What are you working with
oh now i get it. but what is the problem
when my server goes down I cannot resolve domain names 😄
it said it couldnt find srv records for the domain controller
cant you just set a secondary server to be a public one?
thats when ipv6 was enabled
yeah I just did
now w/ ipv6 disabled it finds and joins the domain
for a second i thought you wanted drives or users to be listed as objects
hurry up https://i.imgur.com/F0wqvcG.png
But not sure so that means you will have to disable IPv6 every time?
no not unless I use my server's ipv6 address as the dns
Right makes sense
@rocky badge In theory i should be able to loose the sg300-10 right? I mean it doesnt actually do anything except act as feed for the trunk on the Router, and the uplinks
If i setup a trunk on 1 switch i should be able to get the pfsense to work directly with the switches right?
Project Veritas has released undercover footage of Twitter Engineers and employees admitting that Twitter employees view"everything you post" on their server...
It doesnt support sfp+ and i know I have at least 1 gigabit so i should be good
Yes
