hot take
AliExpress copper is same as 90% of other places that make copper audio cables
xD
Real
Waiting for the day when we have CCA iem cables
im waiting for headphone cables to use Toslink optical
screw copper, give me light
Gotta send a copper pair to provide power for the DAC on the other end though
No escape
FELLOW TOSLINKER!?
ofcourse !
Or what you will?
what you mean format? i just plug it in from my PC to DAC
toslink is 5.1!!
caps out at 24-48?
for my its 44
ah ok
oh optical can cap out at 24-192
but i guess windows doesnt go that high? idk
whats AAC?
aint same on my ps3
they're not the same?
on ps3 u manually choose the toslink output
Why get rid of my ps3 if it can run youtube at 1080p
unfortunately im limited to the rate YT is offering, so 1080p
unless i pay for youtube+
its just a working piece of finnish machinery
TV, 4k is best imo
My laptop cant 1440p
but i guess it depends on tv size..
blue?
The video mute
The static turns into blue screen as it dont find a tv channel
very hi-tec
is the skullcandy eco buds good for 15 bucks
or is the oneplus nord buds 3r better
i wont buy the cmf buds 2a since my friend had it but one side of it died under a year
I hear decent things about the dimes but take a look at the moondrop space travels
my peak new headphone amp
Even comes with its own distortion dial
yeah'
so you can boost the deathmetal
everything becomes deathmetal
this is a song btw
good luck figuring out what
might need to turn ur volume up bc its quiet
I just know this is about to be the loudest thing ever.
Just because you mentioned loud.
its fairly quiet bc the pedal nukes the noise level
its meant to be going into an amp lol
not being after the amp
i had windows, my interface, and the pedal all on max gain/volume
and for that recording my mic was on max gain
💀
does anyone have a 2TB NGFF wifi/mSATA USB 3.2 FLAC audio quality mixer modules
a wat?
@thin void have you ever tried the loop switch 2 noise plugs?
Loop earplugs have gained a lot of attention in the last few years. But with so many versions of the Loop earplugs available, which pair are right for you? Which should you buy, and are they even any good? Find out as Harley shows you all our testing data to show you which Loop earplugs you should buy. Not only that, you'll also be able to hear ...
have you ever done any earplug / hearing protection vids on earplugs/noise reduction :o
especially since its gonna be summer soon, and ppl gonna hit up events/concerts ;D could be a cool vid idea
noise cancellation anti gravity air wave modulator
I’ve tried them before
I will say they are nice but don’t cancel out nearly as much as I hoped
I found my anc earbuds do better for most things
well yeah, they're noise reduction, not cancellation
well yeah
xD
thats the point dude
Yeah it just felt like it canclled out very little
i mean, iems in general or even earplugs. its all about seal
if thats rubbish, then, doesnt matter how good they are
it will be rubbish
i remember i couldnt get a good seal on the Campfire audio crimson. and it sounded caca
then i tried it again few days later and it sounded better
knew it was seal, because i didnt change the source
or volume
or song
which layout would yall rather use?
for context:
6 mono jacks for 6 channels, 1 stereo pair, 1 usb c port, 1 midi in port
hey guys, i had some hurdur sixhungeos(sennheiser hd600's) that i just found snapped on the floor, is it worth the time trying to glue/solder them back together or are there better headphones/iems i can get for the same price or less?
You might be able to get a replacement headband. Once it's snapped there's almost no hope of it being fixing it
You can glue it and tape it and try and do some plastic welding
But it's just gonna snap again
oh they do replacements? nice
even over just wearing em?
Yes.
hm
It might last a few weeks
thats a shame😭
You might have to email Sennheiser support
ill miss em
yeah i aint putting in that much effort 😐 ill just see if i can find anything worth getting to replace em
got any suggestions or am i sol till i can scrape together 500 bucks for another pair
ykw imma email em
good choice
whats wrong with your death metal box
get some jbweld steel-reinforced and some coarse sandpaper
as long as you scratch up the surfaces, mix epoxy well, and apply it in a proper H-shape, it won't break
quick question. Can i connect my panasonic bi amp speakers to my lg ht 503 home cinema?
In theory yes.
what do you prefer? 7.1 on tv and stereo on pc or other way around? ( zone a zone b, near each other)
stereo on PC and Stereo on TV
I love my (faked, soundbar) 7.1.4 for movies and stuff, and stereo for pc
cough cough (faintly) dts virtual:x cough cough
yes thats exactly what i do with my soundbar
exactly\
?
5.1 ❤️
is using a AV receiver from 2007 that bad i got given a free one and want to hook it up to my PC
Also do i need to use HDMI out for it to work or if i just did HDMI into it and kept my monitors with their DP.
ive never messed with Audio ive always been a headphone person
You can use a 3.5mm headphone jack to rca
As its a AV reciever
That model?
and what brand
i don't think HDMI arc existed
HDMI is there for pass through i assume (HDMI in, HDMI out)
without pictures to clarify I legit have no idea
then why the hell do you need an av receiver? are you setting up surround sound?
Should i turn bass down a bit since its muffling the music
I think its my phones shit mic too.
To my ear its way too clear.
anyone have a good eq setting for sony xm6’s?
Did Apple remove the ability to listen to airpods pro 2 with the transparency or noise cancelling off? So just as normal wired headphones? When I re-paired my airpods pro 2 after they randomly stopped auto-engaging the option disappeared.
Though, because my iphone is running out of space the phone has been buggier than ever, apps crashing constantly so maybe something to do with that.
Just looked yamaha RXV861. It has hdmi, i got it for free it.
It was free, and I just thought why not seeing as my pc is hooked up to my TV anyway and I'm just using the rear firing speakers in it
Are you going to do PC -> AV receiver -> TV?
https://www.bestbuy.com/product/elgato-wave-xlr-mk-2-black/J39TSCH4WT/sku/6673088 is this good?
Going to use it to power iems and my mic
Good for the mic. Just okay for the iems
hmm so yeah might be worse than my fosi sk02 but I guess it's worth trying out
yep its pass through. check the specs of the hdmi port to see if it could handle your TV's resolution and refresh rate (if >60hz)
Looks old af, wouldn't expect that HDMI to be any good
Yeah it's from 2007
There are legal adults younger than it
watch it be 1080i
Oh... thats.. a few... ports....
Just checked it is 1080i.
But hell, i still watch stuff on vhs and at 4:3
LOL
yeah if possible don't use those hdmi ports
instead utilize those rca's
im not sure if that can connect the speakers via rca
the pics are blurry
Are you sure thats enough ports?
Hi techies not sure if this is the right channel but im looking for a good headset that has bluetooth and a wireless dongle so i can use it for my phone and pc nothing from razer cuz they kinda 👎
YOU AINT ALONE BRO
576i is magical..
still standing strong
Hey guys, I know I am gonna get eaten alive, but I would like to get new headphones to listen to music in. RN I have the galaxy buds 2 pro, but obviously they are not good enough for music if I actually want to enjoy it.
Could anyone recommend me over-ear headphones for around 100$ (I am currently living in poland so I know the prices are a bit different) that are bluetooth and at least better than my current earbuds. Thanks in advance for all the help!
you could try toe Moondrop Edge
iirc they had Parametic EQ
oooh they look cool
I am really new to the audio stuff
I have the logitech pro x wireless (whichever combination of those words they actually use for the headset eludes me to this day) and I heard people set the EQ in a specific way to make them sound better
I will look into the moondrop edge heaphones cause they look very reasonably priced compared to the sony headphones I was recommended by my friend
scam
Too bad it's French 🙁
C'est dommage
worst part is that i don’t even speak french
Also I should mention that if there isn't really anything better than my buds at 100$ I'm willing to save up longer for the Sony xm5 headphones which I heard are great
currently use airpods 4, because cheap, with my iphone, switching to android when my pixel 9 pro xl arrives this week, is it worth saving up a bit for pixel buds/another airbud brand that works better on android? ive heard apple airpods are bad with android.
been looking a little into nothing, google and sony.
I personally like using the cmf buds
They are cheap but hit well above their weight imo
I am sure i angered at least one audiophile somewhere on this planet by saying that
just realised one feature i really like from apple is the find my stuff so i can track the case and buds, as well as ping sounds
do any android buds have this
JBL if u want to be like everyone
tbh apple airpods seem so ass to have in your ear for long time
Loved my airpods 2. I just don't have an iPhone and don't want to spend $100+ on tws anymore. And they clogged pretty quick
However for your case, since you have the buds already they are Bluetooth. https://f-droid.org/packages/eu.darken.capod/
https://f-droid.org/packages/com.dosse.airpods/ (this one does not support airpods 4 currently but just another potential option in the future)
whats the app add?
is there an app which does location for buds + case? seems if i want that i need the pixel buds pro 2
trying to get my old ipod nano up and running again and i'm losing my mind trying to figure out itunes...
how do i get it to not sort albums by artist and actually flippin' sort them into the albums where they belong? i have a couple albums with multiple artist listed and it's just clogging up my entire list.
also how do i get FLAC and OGG music files in there? i swear i heard something from dankpods mentioning how he could play FLAC files from his ipod touch just fine, but itunes just pretends they don't exist.
Please tell me there's a program that can automatically fix this? cause i really don't want to fix hundreds of tracks so they actually show up in the correct albums (it's so bad it gave daft punk album art to the persona 5 soundtrack)
need a reccomendation for audio stuff i have a scarlett 2i2 and want to get new speakers and a sub but idk what sub would work for the speakers i was looking at hs5's
Hey guys, does anyone have any idea how i can make my shure sm7b sound the best it can? i have a goXLR paired to it.
what's your budget
also avoid the hs5
none of the HS series sound good for music enjoyment, except for maybe the hs8
first, pray that you have the right kind of voice for the sm7b
keep the front directed to the front of your mouth, but have the entire mic at a slight angle
eq as needed
and if it doesn't sound good, return because most people who buy the 7b buy it for streamer clout, not that it's an amazing mic for everyone
Adam d3v is the latest hotness as long as you don't need to listen super loud
it seems like the focusrite scarlett solo 3rd gen and audio-technica AT2020 would be a good combo?
what do you guys think the best wired headphones/iems are for ~$200
mabye like around 600 usd for both speakers and sub? mabye 650 like 200 each speaker and 250 sub
I'd recommend Adam Audio D3V as well
What are you gonna use this for?
voice chat, webcam convos
I want something that can pick up my shitty attempts at voice acting and voice effects for DND
$250 subs aren't all that good tbh. At that price, they're really only there to make loud bass in a home theater that doesn't have much extension. They usually extend down to the low 40s or high 30s. Which is fine. But I would skip the sub altogether for now and just spend the money on some better speakers.
You might have luck finding something used on the local markets.
The d3v are pretty good but it's kinda hard to integrate a subwoofer into them.
Vanatoos are real nice and handle the subwoofer pretty easily. Kali also has some nice speakers.
Its kinda excessive for that. You can skip the interface and just go for the USB version, or get something like a Samson q2u or an atr2100x
The latter two options allow you to upgrade to an interface later if you really need to.
i mean i can do more what would you suggest
i have a scarlett 2i2
I'd like to have a nice interface for my BeyerDynamic DT 770 Pro's though
You can't fix 770s with source gear unfortunately
fix? what needs to be fixed?
the way they sound
I like the way they sound ¯_(ツ)_/¯
You can get used to it
Subwoofer integration can be tricky. There's no universal way to do it so you really gotta work around the hardware.
With your scarlet in mind, ideally you'd want something with a TRS or XLR passthrough to the monitors. And that's a bit pricier. So right now I'm thinking something like a Kali lp-6 v2 and the matching ws-6.2 subwoofer. Which is gonna be something like $1100.
Alternatively you could bypass the scarlet altogether and get something like vanatoos and an rsl speed woofer. Whatever fits your budget from either of those companies. And that can range from $800-$2000
Scarlet is okay. I wouldn't call it nice.
Motu m2 is much better.
And you can still save some money on the mic
what would you reccomend for like 800 for all?
How are these gonna be used
Desktop? Living room?
Small desk? Small room?
Casual use? Studio monitor?
for game audio
my desk is kinda big but its in my bedroom
its a 7ft wide desk
have 2 32in displays rn
going to get the new 39 5k2k once its not preorder and also gooing to get a 34 in
Hmmm... Yeah with the dual monitors that's gonna be kinda annoying because you don't wanna put your speakers too far apart
my plan was probably put them sideways unter the monitors cus i have them on arms
Bad
Don't put speakers sideways
i currently use some razer soundbar and sub
but its slowly diing
I have dt990pro headphones but i like to use those for call audio and then game audio from speakers
anyone know of headphones that are wired and at least close to the quality of the sennheiser hd 280 pros without costing almost 100 dollars? my cat just obliterated mine and i would rather chop my head off than use these awful iems for more than a day
I would steer you towards the vanatoo t0. They're really fun gaming speakers and are pretty easy to position since they're small and angled up at you.
They're gonna work via USB but you can find a way to convert the output of your scarlet to 3.5mm Aux with a cable
do those have a sub?
No. Eventually get an RSL speed woofer
the scarlett has 1/4in out for left and right
I know
is there anythiing you could reccomend that uses trhat?
.
Kali system
could you send me links?
are the 4.5 good vs the 6?
What's the 4.5
Oh uhh... I mean. Those are for like. If you're really tight on space
Oh wait
Nevermind yeah those are good. They're small and budget
Thought those were a different model
i just need to check how tall they are so i can not have them sideways
with the 39 in tho i should be able to have them on the sides of the moniotros
i will check the price
these are the other ones u said right?
i would use the 1/4in out from the scarlett into the sub then xlr out from the sub into the speakers?
Yeah. That way the subwoofer filters out the stuff it's doing and sends everything else to the speakers.
It makes sure that things aren't getting doubled up on and the speakers aren't doing unnecessary work.
Overall improvement
I would be using it for gaming
What do you think about the Yamaha hs8s sub with hs5?
what are the reasons for that
theres also the mackie set which looks cheap
Don't say mackie you'll summon jackson
presonus suck too
hs5's and a hs8s would be about $900 the kali stuff would be about $1100
you could get kali or adam tops and krk sub
which tops would you reccomend the kirk sub does not seem super expensive
I don't know which is best tbh
its really just going to be used for game audio
hear good stuff about the new little adams and kali in general
i just really dont know a whole lot about audio stuff
i have my at2020 into a scarlett 2i2 and then dt990 pros but i want some good speakers instead of my razer ones
as my razer soundbar and sub is dieing
the 10.4in kirk sub is cheaper then the yamaha hs8s
there 5 inch monitors are the same price as the hs5's
I really have not been keeping up with low end studio monitors
I'm sure they have a cheaper line or something though
they do i was looking and the more expensive line
they have a $200 5 inch and a 170
and a 150
tthey have a lot of different ones
what brands should i look at to look at used stuff?
kali probably
Weird fucky wucky nonsense happening in the upper mids.
Overpriced compared to other options which don't have that problem.
Yamaha need to stick to pianos and motercycles
Yamaha is a tech conglomerate that has had a finger in every technological pie
What we see is what's survived
it is just speakers they really suck at though
from PA to nearfield I've never liked any
I bet you I could find some Yamaha tws that suck too
yeah I don't even know they made those
but like guitars are ok
What do you think of the Kirk stuff?
Including or not including gang violence
Not including
I think the krk monitors are a more budget brand
Yeah I wouldn't get their monitors
And I also think that I told you what I think you should get
I’m trying to find something a bit cheaper would want to stay under 1k
Good luck 🫡
I could do the monitors you said and then the Kirk 8.4in sub for about 870
Interesting
Cus each of the 5in you said is 250
Do you think that would be a good setup?
Is there a good place to look for used ones if the kali monitors you suggested
No I have not seen those
They're gonna be the new asr diy speaker hotness but the guys designing them are taking their sweet time
I've been waiting for 2 years
oh right
They're taking 5ever
I wondered why nobody was selling them
The sound demo sounds good on my tv speakers
Because the design isn't done
Yeah I was keeping the neumans around in case my amp died or something
amp died so I next dayd some caps from RS and the neumans never even got hooked up before I fixed the amp
so that was silly
Could have had that new amp I was eyeing up
instead of a dusty pair of speakers
What amp
se-A50
You're not in us right
no
I wanna sell my se-a7
lol I knew it
Yeah shouldn't come out to much gimmie your address
would still be cheaper than the se-a50
last time i got something from the land of the free it got import duty and vat slapped on it
you could write "free gif" on it like the chinese do
Do you think the Kirk sub would be good to go with the kali monitors? If so do you think the 8.4 or 10.4 inch one
I am confused
its a good haircut
Ngl I liked it better before
to get a sub within 600? Any inexpensive sub isn't gonna give you any subbass, just act as a midbass booster
No idea. Ought to check the play store, there may be some thing that hooks into findmy but no idea usually that requires an apple ID though
hey everyone i just bought this lavalier mic for very cheap but it only seems to work on smartphones is there a way i could get it working on my pc?
which one? do u have a link?
3.5mm connection?
thank you guys i actually found out that there are different types of connectors trs trrs etc and the microphone is trrs and my pc only has trs connector (unlike the phone which has trrs connector) so thats why its working there and not here @haughty girder @thin void
the solution is for me to use a trs convertor i had 1 around already and it works
here it is if u guys wanna know more
it says that in the description
how does a quadraphonic setup sound better when the soundbar is in dpl ii surround mode\
need shortcircuit on the new hammerhead hyperspeed v3
I'm looking for wireless earbuds with Qi charging below 150$, any suggestions?
hey guys what are your thoughts on akg k240 mk2
i have them and they seem great but honestly they are abit quiet..
do youthink i need to invest in a dac ? when i bought them they said they would be fine on my machine's soundcard
im a pretty low budget customer (most of the time though occasionally im willing to fork out a arm and leg)
are there any (cheap but decent) dac/amps?
that would run well with my k240 mk2s
pls @ me if you have thoughts
Just save up for better headphones
Nothing off the top of my head that wouldn’t also cost at least half as much as your headphones or more.
You might find luck with dongles?
@livid agate What motherboard do you have so I can find documentation on it to see if a cheapish dongle would have more power?
After checking spec sheet of your headphones the Fiio KA11 should be fine.
Hm my mobo is gigabyte b550 rev 1 (am4 socket idk if they have a intel socket)
Gigabyte b550 ud ac y1( rev 1)
To be specific
I think the sound quality itself is fine but the volume leaves something to be lacking. Even at 100 some videos are a bit on the quiet side
(Volume that is)
I do have a usb-c apple dongle lol… I am loathe to use that but it might be worth a shot?? :S
It probably won't be any louder than your motherboard, if it is the EU version then likely even quieter. Can't hurt to try though.
Tbf it is v loud on my phone using that dongle
But idk if that’s Apple shenanigans or?
Things within their ecosystem just “work” together yk?
It’s their one major plus imo
But now that I discovered Linux I am not even dreaming of Mac anymore
Lil
Lol*
apple dongle is good
clean 1v
drives 99% of headphones well
k240ii is pretty mediocre though
for the price I'd recommend the fiio jt7 + FT1B velvet pads
where the FT1B pads fix the treble and fill in the upper mid dip
why would a jt7 be comparable to a k240II
Fiio KA11, more power than you'll ever need for almost any headphone.
Question: Does anyone know a good cable brand in Canada that makes cables for headphones specifically ?
would LTT ever make audio cables for headphones and audio gear? :D
Highly unlikely.
Truespec cables were only because they did a video analyzing cables
And realized many of them were cutting corners
There's no corners to cut with audio cables
How do you know headphone manufacturers aren't cutting corners by not cryo treating their cables and not making sure that the signal is going in the right direction
Shoot you're right
Forgot the backcurrent can affect the staging of the headphones by affecting phase response
i want my headphone cables made in space, that way they wont get contaminated or have the copper crystals pulled down by earths pesky gravity weighting down my music signals. xD
ah ok, nvm then lol yeah most likely unlikely
i mean they could make a video series on it
basically debunking all the BS in the audio industry for cables
but if they did that, like 90% of cable "hifi" vendors would go bankrupt
or only funded exclusively by rich old guys who have more money to burn than time left on earth xD
It's been done 100s of times but for as long as people trust their emotions and "feelings" more than data, it's never gonna happen
🥲
Which is why they always turn back to arguments as if audio was an intangible, immeasurable thing like love
wonder how you would measure love 🤔
i guess changes in chemical levels in the body and brain synaps activity
@lean grove @buoyant vale imma get the kali monitors should I get the Kirk sub or a different one?
hifiman and focal exist
ive had personally 0 issues with focal, im just lucky i guess?
but hifiman....
i'd never EVER buy hifiman
from what ive been told from hifiman owners
just not worth
nice to borrow, nice to try, fun to use
own.... na im good m8, not wanting to gamble with that
id rather get Audeze or Meze if i want a planar xD tbh
Just big thick vacuum cords. Don’t like them.
thats fair
and i agree with you
i got my Focal Lensys Pros 2 days ago
and was like "wtf is with these cables..."
These days I see very little reason to buy a planar
Right? It’s worse on clear
yo dms, this weekend im gonna get to try (demo for longer periods) the HEDD TWO :D
Oh nice! They’re heavy but solid.
yeah i have a Clear MG Pro, the cables are "ehhh...ya...."
so i heard ppl say it creaks (not talking about the AMT crinkle, the frame itself) wondering if you and GS ever encountered that creaking ?
ship to Canada? :o (im in Montreal, Quebec)
I haven’t with my pair, but I can see that potentially on the hinge.
Likely, they’re based in Canada
yeah ppl said hinge, yolk area that pivots/rotates
Honestly the hedd has a weird headband. Don’t love it
But it would be easy to swap
That said, hedd is VERY right to repair
Which is dope
yeah, plus 5 year warranty on driver is peace of mind
Yeah that is nice
Studio Economik (based in my city) said they're official AD's for HEDD for all of Canadda :D
so they said, "any problem at all, bring it here, we'll get them fixed or completely replaced"
ace guys o7
Yeah hedd is super pro-consumer. Expensive but they’re great people.
The lead engineer is great too
More the latter. Testing lots of things but not many I can talk about
I did just film my part of a short circuit yesterday! That was fun
totally okay xD i get NDA/secrecy stuff. i work in the video game industry/tech industry.... so ya.. NDA o7
:O
Nothing headphone as far as i can tell was pretty good value for what it is as a wireless one.
Yeah, they’re definitely better than many things
one of the very few companies that actually look at feedback and take it seriously
not like Beyerdynamic, Hifiman or most other companies
APPLE!!!
beyer has actually been talking to me a little bit about feedback. Which is encouraging.
Airpods have an stupidly amount of potential
But they keep doing their stuff
real and true
Apple...
Pls add PEQ
even my 30 bucks Space Travel 2 have an working PEQ
Airpods with PEQ would be idk...
there wouldn't be any other reason to get another earbud if it's not the money
yeah, not having PEQ baked into a wireless headphone should be a crime
they "techincally" have it already there
they tune with DSP
so it wont be even much of work to give us the control of it
well yeah, realistically every wireless headphone uses some level of dsp
and i think the M2 or whatever chip is inside is more than able to run a simple PEQ lol
they probably can handle 50 bands or more
Apple chips are idk how super efficent yet powerful af
even Sennheiser gave us PEQ 🥀
somehow lately, it's been the pricing
somehow someway because of how planars are, it's easier... and cheaper? to get decent bass extension
like the JT7 + FT1B pads is like a 100 dollar combo
where uh, the HD599, K361, etc. exist
JT7 is usually over $100
alone
aliexpress on any of the choice day or "events" coupons puts it closer to about 90-100
the pads themselves are 10 bucks
so 154-18 = 136
So I wanna but a tv where my surround system is. Is it a bad idea to mount the towers to the wall so they are out of the way and on either side of the room
Unfortunately for that argument, I'm actually at a disadvantage in Canada.
US gets greater discounts, and because Aliexpress' payment system is actually based on USD, the price that I'm shown includes a conversion fee
If I use my credit card with 0 fee USD allowance, I actually pay approx. 5% less just because I could pay in the currency the system is based around
Or in other words, my CAD pricing reflects the current conversion rate of CAD vs USD +5% conversion fee
The only time you have a point otherwise is if your government decided to tariff the balls out of cheap items
Since we don't here
But otherwise, paying in USD is actually even cheaper than what my conversion rate suggests.
trump tax
Is it still in place right now?
Any suggestions for some good earbuds for work? Price range 150. I dont care for noice cancelation, looking for good quality
How about that big beautiful-
@lean grove I ended up ordering the kali 6 in monitor and then the kali sub
sighs Pretty sure the right earbud on my Shokz OPenfit air's is blown out as its at a much lower volume then the left one is
I don't listen to extreme volumes either so I don't know why it would be blown out
Looks like I will be using my Audio Technica ATH-m50x's since that is all I have left that work perfectly
I have another set of earbuds but apparently they aren't holding a charge
I take them out and they say low battery even tho the case is saying they are fully charged
So yeah I am out wireless now
does anyone have any suggestions for any decently cheap vinyl players?
If you're just getting started with your search, I recommend reading The Wirecutter reviews to get a feel for what you should look for in your search. https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-turntable/
The sound quality may not be there but the build quality is. Was using this today.
So many notes, lmao.
I bet there's multiple stories to tell on why.
is crin reds still best you can get at 50$ish
or did the chifi vacuum claim its life
I got a Sony PS-FL770 and its absolutely beautiful with the cd like loading tray and automatic stuff but its as reliable as a new peugeot
good vinyl player with pretty nice sound quality
if anyone else got one
Id like to know a few belt replacement options since my sister has started asking me about her hairband 😬
mr oiler over here
kekw
Wtf does that even mean? 😭
Bros calculating exponential growth and decay
restoration is progresses
its a beautiful turntable
The hardest part is fully operational now
Bros wtf
Best speaker brands? (I'm an audiophile just curious about what everyone thinks)
hard to tell
I got the Xtreme 4 and 7.2 def tech home theater with Denon AVR X1800H
.that's hilarious
Focal for me
I did hear some HEDD speakers last weekend. Pretty good also but i still prefer Focal
There was a pair of Kefs i heard at a show, pretty good also but the vendors played it too loud since most the ppl there were 60yrs+ and hard of hearing so almost ever speaker room was too unbearably loud or on the brink of clipping and sounded super shrill
Still fake
Hmmm... Tough to say. Depends on the scenario.
Need a good Bluetooth speaker that's loud and durable? JBL is my pick. Best in terms of sound quality? Focal. Heard a pair of Shape 65 recently and my wallet is sobbing at me thinking on getting some
Personally I'd never spend that much. There are brands that make pretty solid stuff for cheaper.
@lean grove jvc post
Any IEM recommendations for gaming? Price 100-200€
Any good headphone recomendations with anc (just gonna use it for gym) looking to spend less than 60 €
If you need a good cheapo pair, the Max5c is decent.
Buy off of AliExpress if you want to save even more.
The Anker Soundcore stuff has also been talked about to me but I haven't tried.
Are there by chance any wired earbuds with anc?
not really. ANC requires fancy tech, and it doesn't take that much more effort to make that fancy tech have a battery and bluetooth as well.
passive noise cancellation is a thing though
something like etymotics are on-par and better than a lot of ANC if you can find them comfortable
I honestly agree Focal makes amazing speakers (I can't afford)
Well it can get noisy in the mess deck at times and also not allow any wireless devices.
This player has an "aux in" but I can't figure out how to use it on a computer
Would y'all know anything?
i found a very jank way to use the speakers by just connecting the speaker wires to the male rca
I forgot that it's literally just wires so it's only sorta jank because it's a spliced aux cable
Any real recommendations for open ear earbuds in the $100 range or so?
these are currently on my list but I want to jump up a price bracket or so https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRCH8GLP
Anything worth mentioning in the $100-$150 range?
I have the OpenFit Air by Shokz but the right earbud has gone quiet over time
and windows 11 is NOT allowing me to fuddle with the balance levels
I move one and they both move together
So unless theres a setting I am missing somewhere I am out of ideas
Also I have issues since day one with charging these things
I literally have to take them in and out of the case several times to get them to even think about charging and even then it doesn't walways work particulaly if they have drained completely
So yeah proper replacements would be nice
i play alot of siege and i was thinking about treating myself to a good headphones but i don’t know much. does anyone have any good suggestions? budget is £200. thank you!
Managed to "fix" the right being quieter by scrubbing it with a brush and 99.9% iso Alchohol
The grill itself looks the sa,me before as it does after the scrubbbing so meh
Doesn't fix the charging issues tho
imagin having to dust all of that since you prob dont use 80% of it
xD
hope you have alot of swiffer dusters
what's the meta for cheap HD800 cables that don't cost $250
Xinhs on aliexpress
or openheart
or build your own
but I'd go xinhs since you can customize cables by contacting the dude through aliexpress, often at 0 cost to you past the base cable price
based, thanks
ya
I got an aliexpress cable after the stock one shit the bed some years back but it's a hair too short for my liking
Short in which part?
you could definitely let xinhs know you want a custom length
or actually, contact him before buying and he'll give you a quote of how much extra you might need to pay
Openheart doesn't offer as much customization as far as I know, but they have plenty of offerings and lengths
it's not long enough, it would be fine if I was running it straight to a DAC/AMP directly in front of me but I have most of my cables routed behind by desk before they plug in
Ohhh then yeah either order a longer cable or ask for a longer cable
Xbox 360 S spotted. 💜
Holy moly, that console setup is crazy.
I would once again wager that the blackshark v2x is not an hd600 to my ears with any amount of precision eq
Screw that, OG PS3 (not to say I don't love my slim 360 though)
Closed back vs open back a bit unfair
To much variance in position and acoustic inpedance
Do it with SHP9500 and HD600
Also if it measures differently, it sounds differently
Made an eq for my wf xm6 and theyve been sounding pretty good
Whats the consensus on Sonos for tv sound bars/ home audio? Im not an audiophile and I live in an apartment so it doesn't need to be crazy loud just like the idea of an ecosystem
Aside from the whole "smarthome devices still suck for a variety of reasons" problem, we've been happy with the sound quality and auto-calibration of our Beam 2 paired with 2x Sonos One surrounds. The Sonos app went through a bit of turmoil in the last ~2 years, but has stabilized as of recent. I ended up acquiring a Roam 2 for the back deck that we also take on vacation since it functions as a Bluetooth speaker in addition to running off WiFi.
Granted, the Sonos ecosystem is not cheap; you can certainly attain better quality buying a dedicated amp and speakers, but then you don't have the ecosystem / ease of AirPlay + Spotify Connect. It's all a tradeoff.
what DAC would y'all recommend if i wanted to drive a pair of 250Ω headphones with an ipad on the go
You don't need anything fancy. If you look up cx31993 you'll get a bunch of options that should be sufficient.
All of them being dongles for like $20
this was still successfully eliminated
this is hd600 711 minus hd600 inear, overlayed with razer 711 minus razer inear
before listening I did 4 initial measurements on my head: hd600 inear L and R, and razer inear L and R
prior to that I did some hd600 listening with the inears being worn
after rew calibration and having the razers on, I listened to the razers while generating the eq's
then I turned the eq's on and did the test
If I can snag a Samsung Q990D/ F soundbar setup for under $1k, would that be a good deal or is my money better spent elsewhere for home theater audio?
rig is useless in this situation
the rig is a demonstration that matching fr at the eardrum via inear mics would work
I took the place of the rig in actual testing. no extra data was required nor used outside of in-situ measurements with the inear mics
watch this
this is the blackshark v2x and hd600 as measured by the 711 coupler's mic. it represents information we don't know and will not be used in the math
but this information can be treated as what my in-situ FR is for both headphones. again, something we don't know
this is the information we do know. this is from the inear microphones reading both an hd600 and a v2x from inside the rig's pinna
since we're doing this through rew calibration files, I applied the inear's hd600 measurement as a cal file to the inear's v2x measurement
this is solely a product of the inear mics and is information we actually know
this gets exported and used as a cal file on the rig's unknown perception of the blackshark v2x
the result is effectively a perfect match between our two unknowns / our two real world experiences of sound at the eardrum
using rew cal files of just the inear mics in my own ears and wearing the hd600 and v2x, I was able to get a curve similar to the one here, invert it, and apply it as an eq in eqapo
this is how I was able to actually achieve an fr match
and boy did it sound like it
be advised that I'm only saying I got an fr match because it's something the measurement-fi population would accept. I don't think it's scientifically provable yet that measured sound at the eardrum is actually what the fr at the eardrum really is
Well I think the point of contention would be whether sound at your eardrum is all that you perceive? Which seems like a reasonable take to me.
Otherwise, as far as I understand FR is just another domain to represent the system; it'd be like asking whether it's scientifically provable that a position vs time plot of driving a car is actually where your car really traveled
atleast our eardrum is still "objectivly" a thing
everything past that is hard to tell
idk how my stuff behind the eardums works
is it damaged? not developed enough?
what da brain doin?
but if it sounded really close
thats good
i recommend doing it with 2 open backs
it sounded tonally identical except for the bass maybe
they were still very different headphones
dynamics, resolution, staging
I will do two open backs at some point yes, this was just my first run
normal
Seal issues
no, no seal issues
that would've been accounted for by the inear mics
my guess is dynamics
If anyone here has used the fiio jt3 before I want to ask how good are thay as a first open back headphones?
And how do thay compare to the shp9600 and the fiio jt1 ?
This would be cool under a car seat
it not seal issues, frequency response just isn’t the whole picture
distortion, frequency persistance also play a big role
frequency response a 2d graph just doesn’t show if there’s a resonance that lasts for long a 3d graph.
then you have many more factors
2 headphones that sound exactly the same on a machine can sound differently on your differently shaped ears
like due to the driver being slightly in a different location, and your pinna reflects the sound diff than the machine
there’s a reason yters tell you that you can’t EQ a $50 headphone to sound indentically like he-1 or other high end headphones
you can make them sound excellently but usually not indentically
distortion only matters WHEN it matters
and most of the time, it just does not
but you can
like how people already did
not exactly a $50 one
but a HD600 to an HD800s
AFAIK the driver placement doesn't do anything on a headphone as it creates a sealed environment where sound reaches steady state effectively instantly
for practical purposes the resonance just becomes frequency response in headphone
That's assuming everyone has the same ears
Which people don't
Different shapes and materials interact with sound differently, so headphone A and B can sound the same in terms of FR to a machine or person but they can also sound differently to another person or a different machine
That's a critique against not comparing against target curves on machines or other people, not against the concept of frequency response in general
So it's not really what I was saying
You can measure frequency response in your own ear
forgive me lads but I'm bidding on a pair of RS 195's because it's the most feasible way for me to get surround soundy things for my TV without actually mounting speakers which is logistically impossible with the footprint of my apartment
I have my max bid set at 100 bucks which is 1/3 of new price so we'll see if it all pans out
Here is a pic of my decade-old and crusty HD800's to make up for it
(these seriously need new pads and a new headband)
Looking for a set of openback headphones, thoughts on these? $80 USD on Amazon
Pads be like
hey I am looking to get headphones for gaming
with mic and big ears
nothing crazy like 50 euro price range
hyper x cloud 3's, it's a little more than 50 eur but anything less than that is kinda garbage
someone suggested max5c
but I wonder if they arent too small
I do remember owning hyper x once
they broke in a month
Probably too small if you mentioned big ears, I had pretty good fit in the Cloud 3S.
They mentioned max5c before you talked about mic and ears.
I remembered your question in the Headphone server, so I took a look at everything you said there.
so which is better
The wireless version of this, the Cloud 3S would be the better choice if you need a headset and more ear room.
I can't personally recommend anything below that budget unfortunately.
Everything I would mention would be anecdotal.
If it worked for you in the past, I would get it again.
As long as you didn't have any issue with it.
Would you be willing to send a link btw?
but twice I did try other headphones they broke so fast
siberia 3 and then some hyper sting
Kotion Each G2000
link is so big
If you are more worried about audio quality over mic quality I would reccomend iems with a built in mic
or just get a antlion modmic and attach it onto any headphone you want
they even make iems too with a mic
or, can look into the newest Sony INZONE H6 Air
or Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro (if you wanna spend more)
I have beyerdynamic headset 250 ohm and love them for gaming but i want to buy earbuds too😭 what is the best earbuds to buy for sound?
There's some pretty expensive earbuds out there.
But good news is you don't need to spend too much to get good sound
Truthear has some good options
only thing i wish for is aux and not wireless
No idea. I'm not an iem guy. You're gonna get better advice asking on the headphones.com server
oki thanks :D
Definitely safer than the FD15
Pure are a very safe neutral-warm iem
Very meta tuning
FD15 are a bit more V shaped with a 12khz peak that can absolutely murder ears if you're sensitive to sibilance
and what if they enjoy them anyways?
one big difference between audiophiles and the average joe is their resillience to treble
the difference I've seen time and time again between these groups is crazy
it's like audiophiles train themselves on taking damage from treble
concerts would be capped at 80db if we were all audiophiles
stop with this safe tonality BS
it may have it's moments where it works, but it's ridiculous to treat it as a go-to solution
i’m 8khz deaf and then i go actually deaf from 10-15khz if it’s lil too high
i honestly go deaf when people have bad brakes on cars
like actually it hurts
but ig i gotta go deaf if i want real life-like experience
The usual target for neutrality, in headphone, is the harman kardon curve that was made by taking average Joe and analyzing their preferences so no there isn't really any difference
there is a severe difference between what tonality sounds natural/correct vs what someone will tolerate for much more important gains
the penalty on preference bright treble has is much more limited in practice
and with neutral or recessed treble, there is a lot to lose in the <$50 area
treble volume is a blunt-force weapon for unmasking overlapping sounds when resolution is the bottleneck for a headphone
it is useful
and it's common for most other experiences around it to be secondary
i got a pair of these small bookshelf speakers from goodwill and theyre a little insane they look really really cool but they also sound pretty decent too(very wide compared to my minimus 7s) but theyre very neat and i didnt know that these existed until i saw them and had to buy them
NO BASS but i wasnt expecting it anyways so im not disappointed but the tweeters have to be adequate with how it sounds
also a photo w/o the grille :3
buy a sub
im in college sadly so i cant justify a sub but i do have bigger nicer speakers so i do know what good bass sounds like but ill take these for what they are
if i can though i would love to get more things that have a matching finish since the finish on these is really neat but ill have to see how easy that is when i get around to it
can any1 help me with audio settings etc cuz i still cant really hear where the sounds are coming from in game. i have this after i bought the dac amp coombo e2x2 idk what setting in the software i need to change like buffer size etc
i also previously used equilizer apo
alas, I won the auction so they're on the way I guess
I'll have my thoughts on these in a week-ish
hurray you won !
they're marketed as home theater headphones which I think is both interesting and fits my use case, where I cannot actually get away with a true 5.1 setup
so they're just regular wireless DSP headphones?
importantly they actually feature optical in, so it's actually possible for them to do so unlike the earlier generations which only had 3.5mm in
I don't think they can actually do true 5.1 (they still only have two drivers) but if it's convincing enough then I'll let you know
more or less
Even if they had multiple drivers you can't do "true" surround sound, since headphones don't work like that
FUCK
Dropped my chungus ass LTT cable from 4ft above it directly onto the headphones...
The tip of the USB cable too.
Unlucky af.
At least the cable is still pristine.

It's not THAT bad.
At least not to the point I would consider sanding and repainting.
black sharpie fixes that
Probably could get a copper colored sharpie tbf.
Wizzy, i got my Focal Lensys Pros
been enjoying them, imo, best closed backs for that price point that ive heard so far
the only downside, its memory foam/gel earpads
so its quite cold when you first put it on after taking it out of its case
but eventually warms up, im hoping in the summer that wont be much of an issue
<@&750150305383186585>
Hacked Acc
chifi gud
cassette deck has returned from the repair shop
I could have probably handled a rebelt by myself but it also needed the speed and azimuth adjusted and that's a little out of my scope
also there was a blown cap on the output board
Nice.
That’s a big ouch moment
I wish these inear mics had a threaded or otherwise removable front filter on the little capsules
it's just black paper, probably glued to the capsule grill and further held together with heatshrink
though I can almost certainly slap basically whatever in front of it in the future
the biblical matching ability they're proving to have on my 711 rig isn't the kind of thing you could achieve by depending on acoustic design in front of the capsule
I should be able to make a decent DF approximation in some time
or at least df-tilt of some form
and though I've already done many such tests, I can now incorporate in-ear mic data in proof of my abilities to eq by-ear
Got these speakers from a friend
Heyy i would love some recommendations for wireless headphones, NOT gaming headsets, that have as low a latency as reasonable for gaming. i like running around my room while watching movies and talking to friends etc. I currently use the sennheiser momentum 4 which i was very happy with for about 3 years now but they're dying and i do notice the bluetooth latency
realistically you'd be working with a pair of headphones that support 2.4 which unfortunately mostly limits you to gaming headsets
there's the Sennheiser RS195 I guess
I can't personally vouch for these but I hear they're good
https://aiaiai.audio/headphones/tma-2-studio-wireless
very whatever sound signature though, they're studio headphones so don't expect anything to sound particularly amazing through them, but you can probably EQ whatever it is you're looking for back in
hmm thank you, but those look like on ear, i should probably have specified that i need over ear or i get headaches
I guess your best option would be to find a headset with a removable mic then because that's kinda the only option
as far as non-bluetooth wireless headphones go it's all gaming headsets and DJ headphones
that said, these steelseries headphones have a microphone that retreats back into the chassis
https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-7-gen-2?color=white&primaryPlatform=pc
maybe look for something like that?
i might have to.. thank you
i'm not crazy the 560s do actually have better bass than 6xx
well, at least my unit that's measured here by raynaudio and from couple other reviewers
wish 560s had managed the treble lil better
I do need a better pair of IEMs to use with my Quest 3 but I don't need anything crazy
right now I have a pair of KS1's and they're okay but they're better suited to music than cinema
ideally I'm after something easy to drive for under 200 bucks
Truthear Pure

if you have a budget, you dont need to stretch it out 😄
they are neutral
so dont expect them to be bass bombs
alright well they might not be what I'm after then since I kinda want something more suited for cinema
it's okay if they're voiced
also pretty easy to drive
might as well replace the manky pads on my HD800's while I'm at it
yeah
imagine earpads as expensive as a hardware unit
oh uh
are you sure with THAT earpads?
they will sound different
the HD800 pads don't exactly seal anyways
I'm sure it'll be fine, either way I'll let you know
ye
you can compare them by swapping to the stinky old ones
and also im sorry for you
the stinky old ones are literally falling apart lol
putting on new earpads is
mine were too lol
oh you have no idea
one of the first things I did to these was the superdupont mod
talk about stressful

once it took me 40 mins to apply the new pads
i pressed with a force of 5000lbs or something and HD800s rejected them 🙁
oh I've replaced these pads before, it's just been a long time
though I think I paid substantially less for this current pair
for the HD800s?
yeah
same
like 12 bucks or whatever
wat
I am going on my third set of pads and currently on my third cable since I bought these in 2017
oh so yours some years old
yeah
what S/R?
hmm
HEY
10784 is mine
oh you have the S though right?
yeah
i met a person that had a S/R 322 HD800
the HD800S has a fascinating story if you're unfamiliar to why they exist
he bought in in the first hour or something they got released
i walked in the room.
and we both just stared at each other becasue i had my HD800s with me and he had his HD800
but we both were to shy to talk xD
so i just walked to him and said "your HD800?"
ended up by just demoing each others HD800
some time after the HD800 released, a french user on head-fi figured out that if you inserted a tiny foam donut in the middle of the driver then they would measure WAY better, later on Sennheiser decided that that was easy enough for them to do and so they released the HD800S for significantly more money at the time
he asked me if it would be a upgrade if he god and HD800s
i said no lol
and his unit was flawlessly
lol
what about DMS his 8kHz mod?
dunno
that just deletes the HD800s peak
btw this was what that mod looks like and yes I did it and yes it stressed me out
oh nice
looks good
it's only been in there for close to a decade now lol
Hey guys, this may be a dumb question but will a subwoofer cause any harm if my pc is on the floor with it? (Pc is just under a meter away)
probably not
i put paper towels on my hd681
linus casually having the teenage engineering choir dolls just as set dressing is something else
paper towel mod 1 layer and velour pads
ngl good for $25 expect 5khz
they sound spacious and direct
do you guys think are worth trying to restore they were 10$
i should actually test them im gonna do that soon
ive never heard one of these uh old stupid tweeters before but it does a surprisingly good job compared to what i expected
its a pretty fair sounding speaker though id say but the highs arent offensive and they never will be but it is very pleasing
Hey, I do animation for university and will be animating for my career, I will be planning on voice acting for most of my work, I currently have a dynamic microphone the Røde podmic xlr with a topping e2 x2 interface, but I’ve heard that condenser microphones are the way to go when it comes to voice acting, I’ve been planing on sound proofing my room anyways so thought might as well get a second microphone for the use case, (I’m a trans girl and I do have a feminine more higher voice naturally but I can change my voice to whatever based on what the character is so higher or lower) there are two microphones that have popped up and I can’t decide on which one I should get. The rode nt1 signature series the newer one, then the audio technica at2035, which one would you guys recommend or if you have one for something similarly priced but better for me then go for it. I have my setup shown in this message so you have an understanding on where I’ll be recording.
there's not a ton of people in this chat who do actual professional audio work. you might be better off asking in the podcastage discord.
they are a server specifically for mics and recording and whatnot
Hey guys, I'm a bit new here, but I wanted to ask for advice here rather than on reddit haha. Thing is, I am not necessarily an audiophile, but would love to up my audio game a little bit, though I will admit I am a little bit of a novice when it comes to audio. I plan to stream every now and again and record videos and have had a decent setup for a while with a Blue Yeti USB mic I got from a giveaway a couple of years ago. For headphones I'm using the Haylou S35 (Chinese Sony XM4 ripoffs) plugged into an old HyperX Cloud 2 USB Dongle. As for routing my audio, I've been using Voicemeeter Banana and more recently VM Potato. However, here are my doubts as to how to upgrade it:
I currently use Voicemeeter only because it allows me to route my audio streams for Discord, Music and Desktop/Game audio for free. However, which other ways could I do this without relying on it? I feel like though the program is feature rich, it is clunky to set up and not really intuitive. My question for that is: will an audio interface like a Scarlet 2i2 fix this or help in any way(seeing as VM is a DIGITAL audio interface, I thought that could help) , or would an elGato Stream Deck+ be better for my use case?
Second, I would love to upgrade my headphones, I've had the fated AT ATHM50X headphones on my radar just because they seem like good all rounders, but have no idea how they would fair for gaming, video editing, etc.
Lastly, my mic has been a great starting point, but it does pick up extra noise sometimes due to its versatility. Additionally, since it's a USB Mini B to USB A interface, the cable sometimes gets unplugged. In this case, I'm not sure what's a good upgrade here
I've seen the Shure Mics making the rounds, but they're quite expensive and would love to know other cheaper yet equally good alternatives.
All this is for a future upgrade and would just love to know what solutions would be best for my use case in around a $400-500 US total budget
First off, don't bother with the Mkbhd50x
It's not good
Do you have a mic arm?
Because the blue Yeti while I think is outdated, is perfectly capable of getting good audio
You don't need an SM7B, but you can get something like an E 845 for $100 usually
