so better than the 560 or 600's for gaming?
Yes, thoguh I find the 6X0 series more comfortable for long sessions I will note
yep, lighter + less clamp than beyer. and even if clamp is not nice, can bend sennheiser... (A BIT)
what exactly makes is so good for gaming?
the frequency response, the measured sound that reaches your eardrum is very close to the optimal range for gaming
how is the imaging and comfort for long sessions?
Imaging is stellar, thats pretty much a result of the FR. I find the top band a big lacking after a few hours but its at least better than things like... well... pretty much all gaming headsets on the market
I wonder if capra makes a head strap for the 38X
@agile moon ?
i dont need a mic though, but i guess its still the best option?
if gaming sound specifically alone is the main goal I would say yes, but the 6X0 will be very close and is a better built headphone over all.
smth like half the Geneva conventions was everything the Canadians did
might be a stupid question but what exactly is gaming sound?
wide, impactful, fast.
relatively neutral over-all sound that adheres closely to the sound-curve of the population average ear, with a slight increase in the 100-300hz range
100-300 is that where the "footsteps" and those kinda effects fall?
roughly yeah, through only slight elevations benefit this range. Too much and its counterproductive
its more that the fundimental base harmonic of footsteps land in that range
but they have upper-harmonics all through the frequency range
having the fundimental base harmonic range elevated will prob result in a little more THD, but localization of upper harmonics go brrrrr
well, as much as we can localize with headphones anyway.
gaming on e-stats is the way to go
if the fr is so good, wouldnt they be great for movies, and a lot of other stuff too? isnt that what you want
the new SJY estat will probably be a gaming monster when it comes out
realistically to some degree yes. The optimal FR range for gaming is quite close to the optimal FR range for listening
SJY ?
its an indie audio company in texas, he just showed off an estat proto in NYC at an event and its one of the best headphones ive ever tested
. . . why dont we get CanJam in Canada >: ( im sad
if enough people asked Jude he would probably set one up
đ„ș
oh, it thought it was one optimal fr for everything lol
they're both within the same "range"
how do you know or measure that the sound or whatever is optimal for gaming? like how do you know the sound you hear is accurate for what the developers intended it to be?
i think my hd5xx strap will work
what the developers intended in a big rabbit hole, but we know how people experience sound as an average, how that sound changes based on direction, etc
which can be measure via either test fixtures, or via microphones in real human ears
loaded question because for all we know it was mixed on a messed up set of headphones and wasnt cross-referenced with multiple outputs
"as the artist intended" matters way less than "sounds good to me"
Rare brain de capra cameo
Why don't you build one instead đ
were it so simple
You also got your HRTF measured correct?
yup! About 3 years ago
Did you experience what Golden and the other experienced too?
Also with the Töne Gen story?
100% its shocking
It really is all FR and HRTF is the key
well, in ear mics + HRTF is the key
but I think in the coming years HRTF will be a much easier factor to control for
Because people told me because of Fletcher-Munson-Curves
And that the "making the frequencies sound equally loud" is false
And now I'm bit confused
very different subject
FM curves when applied in things like APP3 or galaxy buds are trying to compensate for listener preference based on loudness changes
but wouldnt have a notable effect on HRTF
I started making my headphones sound "equally loud on the whole FR range* years ago and yeah. People told me it's not natural or how our ears wants it
depends
when i'm doing in-ear mic sweeps I can def hear the peaks/dips, then see them on screen
I do try to lower those audible peaks
so that somewhat follows equal loudness
I mean realistically thats how they tuned HD6X0 series
people with foot pedals in a diffuse field room and speakers
one pedal turns on speakers, another turns on headphones
they would use EQ dials on to adjust the headphones to sound like the speakers in a diffuse field
Example. This is my current EQ for my HD800s
For me every frequency sound about equally loud
oh interesting, thats quite low on ear gain
It sound really good. Vocals are clean and come through perfectly etc and Soundstage and imaging is insanely huge and precise
Yeah idk I'm sensitive to Eargain region
With IEMs I have a huge like 15dB or more peak at 3-5khz
I would be curious how that measures on-head, you measured this on a 5128?
Oh no it's just the EQ uploaded to 5128 xD. That are listeners neasurements
ahhhh! so something to note
On my head it would look different
EQ changes rarely measure the same way they apply
I could pull someting down 6db in software but only see a 2db change when measured
Oh lol
sometimes the other way too
Wouldn't someone's preferred listening volume factor into that?
Like if I prefer to listen at 80db and you have someone who listens at 90db wouldn't fletcher munsen impact our tuning preferences
Well idc how it measures. Just how it sounds xD
But would you say my method of Ewing has big flaws?
that would be a reasonable assumption I think yes
yes and no. It depends on a lot of factors honestly. EQ is quite hard and in-ear mics are just a tool that makes it easy. You will prob get wider-swept results EQ-ing this way, but its not far off from methodology ive seen work.
@white gate may have good input here as well
^ Golden this is waht im referring to
@thin void I asked him about that. Thats his response
But other people said it's "wrong" because of the Eargain part
And now I'm just confused or I misunderstood something
I would say golden's answer here reflects mine and I think its reasonable to follow your current methodology, though with the note that uploading that EQ curve to a graph tool will likely have odd results.
New Sound Blaster Sound Card
https://nordic.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-audigy-fx-pro
yeah ik that Rigs are technically totally nonsense the further you go up in frequency
maybe the only real useful things you can consider is upper bass and mids up to idk maybe 3K to get
like here
i would never go onboard
so much stuff in there that can cause interference.
just get a apple dongle for less.
There are also plenty DAC/AMPs (external) in that price range that are great
So far in our testing (and I think @thin void as well) it kinda is.
If you hear peaks/dips, it's worth correcting them.
The bit that is less certain (and harder to nail anyway) is overall balance. It's a lot easier to identify a peak where it's 6dB louder from 12khz to 12.8khz than it is to compare 12khz to 400hz.
Use tone gen to EQ out the narrow stuff until you're not getting obvious peaks/dips, then use broader EQ and tilt adjustments to dial in your preference. (This bit just takes practice tbh).
I'd also say, it's generally fine to use Auto-EQ either for low frequencies or as a starting point. The issue with Auto-EQ isn't that 'it's bad and you shouldn't use it', just that it's really worth being aware it's not ACTUALLY making things 'correct' or flat for you personally.
Anyone got experience with the Sony ULT Wear or XM4s? Budget is around that range and I'm open to other suggestions too. I'm big on bass, like subwoofer-in-every-car level, but I also need decent vocal clarity for lectures and tutorials. Leaning towards the ULT Wear but the hinge cracking issue has me second guessing it, build quality matters to me. Any input appreciated.
it's also hard to fix hard dips and peaks in the treble.
Like at 8khz its normal but suddenly at 8.2khz you hear nearly nothing lol
and then at 8.3khz it's normal
Ontop all that channel imbalance of the headphone or your own hearing,
Earwax variation (i'll just call it like that now lmao) and yeah
but imo for tone gen, it's worth doing the EQ over a period of some days.
Just because you hear different of other factors anyways like mood or if you're tired.
And the results get better and better.
Small changes daily to get closer until to the point where it mostly will sound good on average on most/every days
i used Auto EQ first and then used that EQ as baseline to make it work with my ears yeah
i should have limitid it p to idk 4kHz or so, because i used the whole 20kHz and now i have like 30 filters xD
But i think if you start doing EQ by ear, it looks like that for most people anyways
(Also could use that EQ as "Target" and Autop EQ on it to reduce the filter amount, but idk)
so 250$ ?
Somehow as bad as the xm4
100hr battery life though :O
"claimed 130hr with ANC"
And reasonably comfortable
idk... headband doesnt look comfy tbh <_<;; lol
You can enjoy poor audio quality for quite a long time!
It could be better
But in the scope of âBT headphonesâ
The bar is low
im wondering if it would be better to just buy a small cheap/affordable BT dongle. to make a normal headphone "BT" with your phone
FiiO BTR5 is like 120$
BTR3 is even cheaper around 80$
Hey maybe this isnt the right place but i got an issue with my tv and dac. it does not get arc.
i use a lg c5 and a feintech ax130. the arc led just keeps blinking.
tv is set to simplink, arc and pmc mode. tried restarting and reconnecting everything and it doesnt work..
eARC port correct?
yes. port 2 on the lg c5
this is gonna sound weird, but, is your TV firmware up to date? ^^;
i mean it should be. auto updates are on and im sure he updated 2 days ago. but ill check
yeah they up to date
full chain:
LG C5 -> HDMI 2.1 cable with earc and hdmi cec -> FeinTech AX130 set to 2.0 -> Chinch to XLR -> Yamaha HS8S -> TRS to XLR -> Yamaha HS8
Simplink is turned on.
earc support turned off.
dtv audio settings - auto
digital sound output - PCM
im not sure, but does LG require the eARC port requires to be enabled via the settings ?
are you trying to output Dolby Atmos ?
i mean my sound output is set to HDMI (ARC) Device
ik this wont work with my setup. i think its set to auto. the specific dolby atmos setting is greyed out
can you force it to a format that is supported instead of auto
only ones are he aac and mpeg. both doesnt lemme change volume
usually when audio gear lights blink like your AX130 its cause its detecting it, but can't handshake
i was reading about the handshake. but i already tried pulling the power cables. pressing the tvs power button while no power. reconnecting the hdmi cable..
idk what else there is i can do
sadly not
its just so confusing cuz the feintech exactly states it can do my setup. like on the image on the box lol
im wondering if you can play with the settings on the LG first, maybe change different formats. maybe turn off eARC but use the port anyways into the box
earc is turned off cuz yamahas wont support that right. and mpeg or he aac also dont change anything
do you have another TV maybe to test, if the AX130 arc port works at all to begin with ?
also sadly no...

ok, what if you disconnect your yams. just plug the TV to the ARC box. does the ARC light illuminate solid ?
might be a problem with the box then
i wouldnt rule it out just yet, if you're able to test it with another TV that has eARC support.
but im leaning towards the box could have an issue
progress !!!!!!!!
yeyyy
ok so then it is the TV
might be a setting in the options we're overlooking
mmm im not sure factory reset would fix anything, its prob an option that either needs to be selected or turned off from the defaullt to allow a handshake with your AX130
what settings on the other TV does it have for eARC output ?
try to duplicate (as best you can) the audio settings on the other tv to the LG tv for the eARC
i did. its also weird that in the sound out window the visuals are different. like on the other tv (cheaper tv but also lg) there is a green circle, on mine its all just grey
thats kinda normal, with newer TV's they change layouts in the OS
hm okay. well idk what to do.. only thing i can do is factory reset
the settings are the same
it could be with the C5 theres a setting that could allow for your AX130 to work. but without me being there to see, i can't really help
or my arc out is just broken
that might be it also, thats why i asked if you had another eARC device to test that port ^^;
alltho. yesterday i tested a cheaper feintech dac. but it didnt had hdmi cec
and sound came trough
soo
my opinion: when all else fails.... TOSLINK works 100% of the time
im not sure, i have my sony -> toslink -> fostex headphone amp.
and im gucci for gaming / film with 0 latency
well trying toslink it doesnt lemme change volume
just did a factory reset ... lets just hope lol
that fixxed it
led stays on

works perfectly fine now :) thanks for ur help tho!
love free fixes
Help! My HyperX Cloud II headphones are about to die out. I have the cable version and cable is bad to one of the speakers, the rubber is falling apart and plastic is chipping. I need new ones, at a low price, but equally or better than the Cloud II. I really loved those headphones. Theres no "hollow/echo" sound when over ear, the bass is good and the microphone has pretty good quality. They have been sitting well on my head too. Recently getting a bit of headache cause of pressure around the ears. Any tips around 100 USD ish?
Requirements:
- No echo/hollow plastic sound/feel
- Not airtight. I hate that the ears are "pressurized"
- Good microphone
- Needs good bass
- Pref around 100 USD.
I live in Norway and things are usually more expensive than in the US. Cloud III wireless is 166 USD, Cloud Alpha wireless 156 USD, Cloud Alpha wired 72 USD
Edit: black cloud 3 wireless are 138
If the Cloud 3's are good i might invest in them..
beyerdynamic MMX 150 ?
Audio Technica ATH-GL3
Sennheiser HD 500 BAM
Sony INZONE H3
Beyerdynamics never heard of, and audio technica is not sold here.. And sennheiser at that priuce range?
Idk. I know Sennheiser is good af... Justdunno at that porice range
there is also "Sennheiser G4ME ZERO" but i never heard it
so i can't speak for sound quality
its 150$ CAD (not sure USD)
the Sennheiser HD 560S are on sale now for alot
its normally 280, its now 150
if you grab that, and maybe get a BAM cable to add a mic. you could be golden for a long time.
or maybe HD 569, its 100$
(all my prices are in Canadian $, so USD$ would be smaller)
I would have to try the sennheisers. I believe ive seen the 560's displayed somewhere
if you have the budget/choice option, always go for detachable cable. will give you alot of ability to maintain stuff longer
But i believe it had that echo feel
Oh no. like 1500 tops
hmm
Ideally at like 1000. The cloud 2 cost me 950 or something
Many many years ago. Before wireless version was available
are you familiar with Razer or Steelseries ?
https://www.komplett.no/category/21640/gaming/gaming-utstyr/gamingheadset?list_view=grid&sort=PriceAsc
Kinda only had the HyperX for as long as i can remember rn.
i will say steelseries build quality isnt great, sound is "okay" at best and the mic is fine.
Do you have experience with HyperX? and especially the Cloud II?
I think the build quality is good, sound is good, comfort is good and price is good. So yeah.. Equal or better đ It has steel frame but with lots of flex. The step size things are easy to adjust and doesnt fall out of their position
could always buy a new one ^^; of the same headphone
The worst i know is probvably that hollow sound or when its too tight like hearing protection headsets
I hate that lol.
ah ok, a more "cupped" sound, like putting a seashell next to your ear
have you ever tried open-back headphones before ?
open back headphones dont cause that "sea-shell" effect in the earcups.
you could try these, if you have the ability to try in store. you cuold try
Exactly thats the one im thinking of
Open back? You mean "on ear" headsets?
no no, open back has usually a mesh/screen on the earcup
it allows sound to exit the earcup, but also allows sound to enter inside
there wont be as much sound pressure on your ears with an open back
Ahh yeah used some. For some reason, the hyperx i have now has neither pressure nor seashell effect even though the earcups are leather. I get anxiety by most of Logitech's headsets though. They're so plasticy. tap one of the earphones and its fortified x100
Unfortunately, physical stores are a bit minus in Norway. You usually get a handful of headsets to try, tops 2, and most stores its the same stuff. Some Sennheiser priced at 400+ usd, some cheap 50-100 usd plastic crap and then a few in between. Usually lots of Logitech, JBL, Steelseries and own brands or smaller brands ive never heard of.
Or Sony
i think maybe it might be better to try repairing your headset, then maybe modding it a bit to make it more comfortable ?
if you're handy / comfortable with modding
I mean i can probably repair it. I do repair tech.. Just so worn out i figured maybe i should buy new đ€Ł
thats fair, and im assuming you'd want something different also. freshen up your experience.
this hasn't been true for me. based on common references like the hd600 or calibrated speakers, there are regions that sound louder than others and regions that feel like they hit a crossover and tones are experienced differently
I've drawn it in the past but I don't have it saved
here's an illustration from memory, including what I'm calling "crossover effects" and how I might call them louder or quieter
it would be wrong to call this a correction curve (or in this perspective a curve to be corrected)
I know there is a jump around 5.5k in volume
and 1khz definitely swells up
it's been years since I didn't instinctively correct for them
nearly every time I finish a single eq sweep, it's overall tonally matched to every neutral reference I can throw at it
for more fine-grained correction, a second sweep sometimes helps
đ
maybe just try to well yeah
make every frequency sound equally loud
can look like that (my example)
and i recommend a headphone where the midrange is already good
because it is mostly similar on most rigs and peoples head
and do it with an open back headphone
that was my first instinct originally, but it was quickly obvious that it was tonally inaccurate, in the same way, every time
I think the equal loudness strategy is a little silly
frequencies still enter our ears at varying intensities. that intensity doesn't go away just because we're used to it
our perception of what we'd qualify as tones changes as we go into the really high or really low end
and there is the haptics aspect especially with low frequencies
if eqing to neutral worked for some of the people in the headphone show, that's cool. don't know why that is the case, nor their headphone=headphone observations. but I accept that it happened perceptibly to those people. no science is to be had by excluding viewpoints of unknown value
it wouldn't be fair to say everyone should do it that way
or that this will definitely be their experience too
then again, most of the threat eq poses to consumers is expecting it to do things it may not, and convoluting how to listen to headphones
how long until enough people's listening skills evolve and the whole fr hypetrain ages like milk?
other way around. As HRTF becomes more easy to access for the masses, the snake oil in this industry will hopefully start to die out.
in this scenario, we have people who experience fr as techs*, and people who experience fr and techs
if it's a simple numbers game, then whichever group has more people will likely have their voice overrule the other
of course the threshold isn't that clear. superior advertising and explanations can have people believe in something they don't experience
but based on my experience conversing and troubleshooting with various kinds of listeners, I don't think the odds are in fr's favor
if it comes to that, you have my word that I'll push the fr perspective as a real thing some people experience and that it should be tested for, even if it complicates the way I give advice
I'd hope that works both ways
How much better is it to use a dac/amp?
compared to what? What are you trying to drive?
Compared to pluggin it straight into the pc with a 3.5
With stuff thats generally easy to drive and doesnât really need one at all
Would you see any improvements?
Some cases yes, some cases no.
It depends on your listening ability and what headphones you're using
490pro
They're not that hard to power but they also have a modest impedance. So a really bad motherboard could impact them.
It might be some hissing and some extra mid-bass.
You should be fine without any dedicated hardware, but if you want a decent DAC/amp you can get that for $50-$150 USD.
Or something basic for like $10-$40
like what? anything i can an xlr mic with too?
would that mean that more peoples opinions on what sounds good to them, will be more justified and less scrutinised by herd mentality brand gooners? :D
Uhhh idk any decent cheap ones with an XLR input. Motu m2 has a decent headphone output.
But fiio k11 is the gold standard for price to performance right now.
And then below that, fosi ds1, moondrop dawn, Crinear protocol max, any dongle with a cx31993 chip, or apple headphone dongle.
doesnt have to be cheap if i can power both xlr and the headphones
Just a lack of knowledge tbh
If you can't archieve the effects they did or me when we all did "the same thing".
Sound hard. But I think you Dont know how to EQ
How is it that they experience the exact same thing. And me who does a other (more easy to do) way that randomly turned out to be "true" works for me as well
Still recommend using a headphone with low Z and that is generally consistent on your head.
Like HD800s
Well. It works with others too. But idk how consistent they are bcs of positional variance and more. Golden and DMS can tell more about that
Maybe it is less relevant
more and more companies apply scientific knowledge into their designs. they put features in that helps us customizing the sound to how we want to (PEQ in more and more devices)
and apple with their "head scan" feature
and more and more headphones / headset have better tuning
like most headset some years ago. there was nearly only garbage
But in the past few years there are WAY more good sounding cheap headphones / headsets
oh im talking non-smart/wireless headphones. im talking more normal headphones.
Fiio FT1,
Hyper X Cloud III Wireless S
wrong scenario
our ears just capture sound.
Frequencies,
Amplitude
Phase
and we can hear the time difference if a sound hts one ear earlier or not
Motu m2 then
I didn't ask for your perception of the truth, and I didn't ask for mine
and i think just from How I experienced it.
If you hear "more" than just FR.
You lack knowledge imo
And i don't wanna say that i know much.
It just makes totally sense to me because of what i noticed. and i'm not the only one that noticed it practically
both exist, and one is going to be more popular than the other. and that will become a problem either way
the techs you define always.
it's all in FR for me
i can control Soundstage, Imaging, Detail and so on with a simple Parametic EQ...
ik.
that's why i think you do some mistakes in the process
if you can experience larger soundstage and better imaging on some headphones and some are worse in that.
You also shoul be possible to notice that change when you apply EQ on headphones
I don't notice a change in techs with headphones in response to eq changes. no matter how targeted, aligned, misalighed etc. the eq is
a big part of my job for 11 years is to recognize and ignore frequency response
we're getting off track
as I mentioned, two major perspectives exist for how sound works / is to be listened to
it would be scientifically flawed to ignore either of these
i think many overcomplicate "simple" stuff
yes
I doubt there will ever be a day that I understand the small amount of people's perspectives saying that fr does all this and all that
maybe get your HRTF + Headphones on your head measured.
best way to find out
I have to think "what an overcomplication they've made of simple fr". at least if I wasn't open to the idea that I can't eliminate another person's perspective
in many "complicated" topics. the answer can't be simple as others.
ofc in some it's WAY more complicated lol
your mistake is thinking there is one answer
that's a flawed conclusion in the absence of reasonable evidence
it takes a hell of a lot to make someone's observations scientifically worthless. not sure it's even possible at all
weird, unrefined data and perspectives today hold key evidence for and against modern theories 50 years from now
With stuff like that, do you need to download a 3rd party app for mic settings, vocal chain etc?
there is probably more.
But also a threshold about if it other stuff really matter
its like if THD matters.
and yes it does. but only to a specific point
m2 driver does not manage signal processing
yeah
most interfaces are just for output and input.
But the M2 performs well for that đ
for signal processing you need Software or Hardware
software is cheaper and mostly have better controls
whatever daw or video editor you use will have the plugins necessary to alter your voice and such. the motu driver is just for high speed I/O when paired with that daw or video editor
the driver also adds some useful things like loopback devices
an audio interface cannot just be used for output and input on windows
it needs functioning, stable drivers
this is a great reason to pay $300 for an audio interface with worse technical specs than a $100 one
because the $100 one very easily can bsod your computer, crash your daw, glitch plugins, add artifacts to recordings, and otherwise destroy productivity in a way that you're better off unplugging the interface and using your webcam mic
drivers are everything
Shouldn't.
If you want fancy stuff you can download OBS
Okey, Iâm currently using a goxlr, but itâs so old, outdated and probably ass
But Iâm used to tweaking gate, eq, compression etc there
Thereâs only the former. What youâre describing is âpeople who accept that techs is FRâ or people who choose to ignore reality. People also claim magic rocks change the sound.
yakucho already said something like that
and I already gave an answer
but I also think any scientist would find statements like that profoundly unscientific or at least presumptious
only when convenient I imagine
Do you hear colours? genuine question
I think there's smth to be said about people who experience different aspects of audio even if the effective sound getting to the ear is practically down to a frequency response, since that's what reaches your ear.
and assuming we're not talking about terrible headphones or straight up broken drivers, things like phase should be a non-issue, which is part of how we experience directionality
I do, but only when I'm using AudioQuest's Diamond series HDMI cable and speaker wires.
Remember, if you're not spending $10,000 on an HDMI cable, you're viewing it wrong. /s
apparently like 4% of the human population can hear colours and associate certain sound qualities to colours fairly consistently
examples are apparently the note "F" being green
how can you tell ?
Geri Hahn is an artist with synesthesia, a rare neurological condition in which senses are merged or combined together. Geri has been able to see colors with sound and music her whole life and describes to us what itâs like having synesthesia.
For more facts and information about synesthesia, you can visit the following resources put together...
very cool
nope, i def dont have that xDDD
i mean if i close my eyes and listen to music. i do picture things in my mind that co-incide with the music
but its not colour at all
its more like... random imaginitive art
or scenes or sculptures
Hello guys I am currently looking into upgrading my audio setup I am currently wanting to put it in my bedroom and need recommendations
For the bedroom i think you should get a wiim amp ultra and a pair of radiant acoustics 6.2
How much does that cost ?
Oh 5k shit
off the top of my head i think $5k-$6k
including taxes
300k? thats pretty steep
300 doll hairs
how involved do you want this
is this for like a TV or a computer
or is this just like, casual and low key
Well I currently have a sound bar and would like better audio for my bed when watching tv
I use iems on the ultra wide and I use open backs on the gaming setup
Check out options from edifier. Whatever fits your budget and tickles your interest. Their stuff is generally pretty good.
Do you think fbmp would be good ?
It's a gamble. Generally if you hear it before you buy it and you like the sound that's a good sign.
Gotcha I see any recommendations to loo for ?
No. It's the wild West. I got no idea what you'll find and even if you find the best speakers in the world, if they're covered in mold and dog poo they're not worth buying.
Used market you're on your own âïž
Okay thank you or do you think it would just be better to add speakers to my sound bar ?
Uhh. Unless you're adding a subwoofer probably not.
Adding more speakers makes things sound wonkier and more diffuse. You don't get a tight center image and can do weird stuff with positioning.
If you're talking surround, only if the surround speakers are cheap and you're definitely gonna be listening to surround sound content.
Gotcha yeah the soundboard that I have is from like 2020 and it has a subwoofer already with it. I was just thinking of upgrading my audio quality since Iâm upgrading to a 75 inch.
no
I have reason to believe most people hear like I do
I've already stated my piece on why fr@eardrum ignores the eardrum existing in the physical realm
idk why you guys appear to insist it does not
Wdym by that?
.
someone explain this nonsense?
that looks handmade tho
there is zero proven advantage from high end cables compared to decent market stuff
oh absolutely snake oil, and it's hilarious
that is probably bought by someone from a guy making those for an INSANE profit margin
They sell 10K USD Power Cords
Pretty good deal
Uncompressed current transfer? We need to enter these people into a making shit up competition
you could drop 6 figures, possibly 7 figures, wiring a single decent audio setup with their shit.
They make up everything whole-cloth to sound expensive
The 5128 was literally made to model the Z of the canal and the resonances of the war past the drum. Thats what the resonators are for.
This is measurable. The amount of sound that penetrates your skull is negligible compared to that of you open ear
âIgnores the eardrum existing in the physical realmâ
The ear drum has notable effects on how we hear, its elasticity changes with volume (which is realistically a reason why 16bit in practice exceeds the dynamic range of human hearing)
so. i guess it is for deleting any "cough" interference
its deleting funds from that man's bank account
yeah
also funny how all those "seperated" cables get bundled into one big one at the connections lol
At least it looks neat
although I really don't get why audiophiles go bonkers over AC cords. It's a fuckin' copper wire going to an outlet. You're not going to improve on it in any meaningful way
ive had people tell me that the direction of the copper in their cables changed the sound
you see anything in this industry I swear
Don't tell people about the power cables in their walls.
oh many some audio companies sell super expensive cables for in your walls too
it gets baaaaad
He let his speaker cable touch the ground, rookie mistake
direction?
like. huh?
is the direction here from "down to up" ot "up to down"
idk if i should be sad that companies sells that shit
or should i be sad that many people are honestly that unsmart to actually believe that shit
i have this meme in my mind again xD
Is this a good sound bar https://www.lg.com/us/soundbars/lg-s95tr-home-theater-soundbar according to reviews and YouTube Videos seems decent high quality but I'm no sound expert or is there a better one I'm currently using a onn cheap Walmart sound bar for me and my wifes bedroom looking to upgrade due to base cracking it's getting annoying so looking for better quality sound bar for our bedroom.
Thanks In Advance - Ohana Gaming TV
Discover the LGS95TR Home Theater Soundbar, winner of 2025 TechRadar Editor's Choice. Enjoy immersive Dolby Atmos sound, AI Room Calibration and seamless TV pairing.
there's not really a good sound bar unless you want to pay 5X the cost of a whole home theater system
Can i ask DMS a question: in your experience. which housing material is better for acoustic control within a chamber ? PLA or PETG ?
purely from a research perspective
doesn't matter. All that really matters here is the number of perimeters / wall layers
Yeah Iâm not paying 5k on a sound bar any recommendations tho
okay, thats something else i need to research into. thanks man!
a pretty competent home theater can be setup for $600-700
way less if you're willing to buy used equipment
Yeah just need to find one for me and my wifeâs bedroom that doesnât crack with bass like on $60 Walmart onn one does.
@thin void
are you okay with it being a set of 2 speakers in stereo instead?
(instead of a sound bar)
Possibly.
get a set of JBL 306P mk2. That's better than any soundbar on the market at any price
they're active/powered and there's a few approaches you could take to hooking them into a TV
some sort of ARC preamp like an HDMI-ARC-X, then prob RCA to 6.3mm cables would do the trick
then you could connect that to the ARC of your TV and control the speakers vol iwth the TV remote
if you guys could hug any amp, to show how much you love it. which amp would it be ? :D
(for headphones)
More amp than almost anyone will ever need too
agreed
i have an SPL Phonitor XE (stand alone amp, i didnt want the extra dac installed)
and its a fucking monster to powering anything i ever get to borrow or have
I love my JDS Labs Element IV, the huge knob on it is just awesome
it's not quite the same level, but it reminds me of the volume knobs on A/V receivers
did you get the black regular or clear acrylic ?
black regular
I did kind of want the acrylic, but I figured it might be difficult to keep clean
it also sadly sits around a lot of the time, I just use my speakers now
@thin void @white gate
Sorry for the ping. I have a question about the eargain region.
How did you guys handled that? because it kinda looks "odd" that i EQ eargain VERY low compared to like other rigs etc and also MIRE measurements of some of you. i know you can't compare rigs or other ears with yours. but idk why i EQ the eargain SO low on headphones to sound "equally loud on the whole FR".
If i would have my HRTF measurements, i would like to test a "EQ by Ear" and after that measure the headphone and compare it to my HRTF.
Just to clarify HOW close i am to what i actually think is "neutral" for my ears
idk if someone of you tried that "experiment".
idk if that looks like a HRTF, HpTF or Headphone behaviour difference
and i tend to lower every headphone (even IEMs) pretty low in the eargain and treble region
idk if im just super sensitive to that or not
So, I've been avoiding wireless earbuds due to lag for the longest time. But I realized that if you use something other than bluetooth it can be reduced a lot. What I'm wondering is are these other options good enough to, for example, play an instrument like garage band on an ipad without any perceived lag?
Separately, I would like to find a wireless way to monitor my own voice while on discord. I use an audio interface that has perfect (analogue) monitoring wired, but I haven't found a good way to do it wirelessly.
iems are wired but they have mic too
only sometimes and usually in the cable afaik?
They can be either. But I'm not worried about it having a mic, I already have a couple of options for that. I'm just focusing on the monitoring aspect
oh to answer that question though, anything wired should have no lag
so if there's still lag then it might be something in the OS or program
Again, I'm wanting to go wireless with these things.
You can get 2.4ghz wireless earbuds
They plug in with usb a or c
You can get a dongle for iPad for both Lightning or usb c
i think the best thing here is an IEM with a wireless transmitter
but it's a normal IEM wirth cable that you plug into a little box that is on your belt or so
and this box ill transfer the sound wireless without noticable latency
@thin void tried TWO GT at the audio show today
getting a pair
tested some songs on my playlist test, its not amazing for older metal stuff like 70s metal or early 80s
but late 80s, 90s and modern stuff it slaps
they didnt have the TWO to test, so im not sure how "lighter" thoes sound compared to TWO GT, but i really liked the TWO GT
the yolk rotation was suuuuper stiff lol
straps are mad comfy though
pad is decently deep, i tried both pads.... didnt hear too much of a difference or if i did maybe placebo ?
ya, def gonna order it in the next few weeks đ
and its good for Black Metal also, (well for the Black Metal i listen to)
pads should make differences
i think getting the same acoustic effect with different pads made out of different materials is nearly impossible
but idk truly
but ye. TWO GT where not bad đ
i wrote a mini impressions with my time and the TWO GT if anyone is interested i can post it here. if not, no worries (it is fairly big and discord wont display it correctly)
~3khz is an area where we know people generally prefer less than pure HRTF response. The harman filters include a dip in this region.
oh btw @white gate i think you and i are getting more in-sync xDDD tried TWO GT today. i really like it, wanna add it to my collection very soon.
havent tried the TWO
i think theres a studio supply shop in my city that may have the TWO for demo. but i really enjoyed the GT at the audio show today.
Though I had a question about this: what volume is HRTF measured at, and would listening volume not always being equal to measured volume make enough of a difference that people would prefer one way or another?
So my hip DAC3 died, USB port on the beat to shit. Also, do you think the BTR17 is a respectable side-grade? Yay or nay prefer to stick under 250
Basically need dual USB c ports and be used at both mobile and desktop dac/amp combo so looks like the best choice or y'all got any other recommendations
Or qx 13 not sure
if you need dual type C (one power one data) then BTR17 is basically your only option
which is fine, because while BTR17 is expensive, it's a good piece of equipment.
I don't need it but it's more convenient for me for a replacement only concern tho for me is idk if it's enough to power my hd 600 in desktop mode it should be fine but idk when it's not in desktop mode due to lower mv 300 vs 400 using balanced
oh HD600? anything can power that really.
if you're into source memeing, anything with a true balanced output will be plenty loud with enough voltage and current to drive HD600 to unlistenable volumes
if you're not, you can get away with even a simple Fiio KA11
tho the cable can be a concern with the KA11
Alright I'll see what other people recommend if anything I may just end up getting another hipdac just really wore it out since I got it when it just came out lol
And basically started having issues where it will randomly disconnect and battery also almost gone
wait actually, see if you can find any local shops that can do a type C port swap on your hipdac
also, ifi offers battery replacements for the hipdac 3
if you really just want another hipdac 3, it's probably worth pursuing service from ifi to get a new port and battery
I'll look around see if I want to try anyone else but that's a good idea thanks
If I push my budget closer to 300 USD do you have any other recommendations?
I personally subscribe to the idea that a source shouldn't colour sound much if at all
so you would say it's "valid" to equal out the eargain?
so if it was up to me, I'd honestly just say get the hipdac repaired, or get something like a Retro Nano that has an easily replaceable battery, then just use a magnetic adapter for it to avoid wearing out the port
Alright sounds like a plan
HRTF isn't volume dependent
You can do it with theoretically any volume.
no matter how loud the sound is. your body and ears are going to "change" it the same always
but i think most measurements are done at idk. between 70-80dB
just to get rid of potential errors that can happen on quieter volumes because of general background / environment noise
but also those rooms are quiet af anyways
Ahhh oki
Oh ykw I mixed up HRTF with the Fletcher munson curve, would that matter?
Wait sorry for ping
HRTF is just what your body is doing to sound that is on its way to your eardrum
But the equal loudness contour says at different loudness, we perceive bass and treble differently
The Fletcher munson curve is more of a preference thing and not because of any physical or 'real' differences. There is potentially an argument to be made that for instance a more v shaped tuning could be better for people who listen quieter.
But it's messy because:
A) Most people don't know what level they're listening at
B) We don't to my knowledge (though @modern barn Might be better informed here) have much study on how user listening level correlates with tuning preference.
But the important thing is that the Fletcher munson curve isn't because your ears are actually modifying sound differently at different levels. A headphone FR and your ears impact on the FR is the same regardless of level.
So in the context of an HRTF measurement the only important thing is that it's loud enough that you don't have noise impacting the data, but not so loud that the listener is uncomfortable or something.
Theoretically I suppose if it was way too loud the tensing of your tensor tympani/eardrum might slightly impact things but again the answer there is just not to do it at a stupid volume
Yeah afaik the effects of volume on listener preference haven't been tested exhaustively enough to make any conclusions
Mm yeah OK that makes sense
Yea for me 6k triggers the spasming on my left eardrum, so even my aful explorers with some voices can cause weirdness
But there's probably a combination of genetics and years of playing flute
But I gotcha, that makes sense
Iâm looking to buy a new pair of gaming headphones. I mostly play R6 and I play on Xbox. The headphones have to have a mic and I want the price to be below $130. Anybody have recommendations?
PC38x is probably around there - but it's open back.

thanks
Whats the hip new amp/dac combo
Fiio k11
People seem to like the r2r version a bit more.
Jds labs element IV
yeah thats how I was leaning
If you can tank the cost it's a pretty good setup
Only think I have to say is no balanced and limited EQ.
Yeah i was looking at a jds labs element iv resin
I dunno why but all the topping/smsl shit doesn't interest me
I'd say go home because that sounds like it would be really annoying to anyone nearby
And are those $20 computer speakers in the basket
It looks like you hooked up a $200 car subwoofer to cheapo home theater satellite speakers
Like idk how anyone could look at this and think it's the best at anything. It's like. Some garage garbage speakers on a bike.
You asked for opinions and you got them đ€·
If this is good speakers for you then I mean. It's good for you to have low expectations I guess.
How much did those cost? I'm genuinely curious
How much did those speakers cost, little dude?
$5
damn that's a really cheap mortgage
jealous af @lean grove
no matter what you do, how much money you spend, it will forever be a soundsystem on a bike, which no one would actually like
The reaction gif crashout session is stopping you from getting a good night's sleep
the best sound experience on a bike are airpods
I use ksc75.
i suppose that will work too
But yeah. Speakers on a bike is just like. How annoying can I be to everyone in my vicinity.
Best speakers for that for sure
I have seen a buy put a JBL party box on their cargo bike
That was kinda cool since it was for a group ride with a bunch of students
you've got subwoofer covered in a towel and two random speakers sitting in a basket
You have more cortisol
Nobody cares what you think. We know what you think is peak and it doesn't impress us.
shit I've been circumsized
Incorrectly, too
They took too much
This crashout is too funny
If you need to go to bed I understand
this bike is the coolest thing that has happened in their small town for the last 5 years man
why so insistent on defending a bike man
my audio gear is so sad
all I have is some stupid soundbar
yeah but the soundbar is only for my LG G5, I've got studio monitors for my desk setup so it's whatever
See that's what I was thinking too.
Like if this were Balkans or somewhere else in eastern Europe then this would actually be kinda cool. Almost impressive even.
the first engineer in like 100 years
Ok I already have 3 of those though
the bike chain is a little rusty but I can get mobile
and you're right, my klipsch monitors are not great
it's not even crashout it's just pure trolling

Anyways, what's the best audio system on a bike you guys have ever seen?
JBL party box on the front of a cargo bike
that's pretty good
I was thinking you could probably get a decent 18" sub on a cargo bike
fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight fight
Powering it would be an issue.
well you could use some cringe car amp
You can get a little dynamo in the wheel that will put out a few watts while you pedal
or just be real and get an inverter
Yeah that's what the weirdo who just got banned was using.
and battery
Pipe bomb in a backpack
I didn't know they had gps in the 80s
Apparently I missed some bike speakers
It was a car subwoofer strapped to the rack of a bike with some PC speakers in the front basket
The person was saying that they're trying to make the best audio setup on a bike ever and asked for opinions and it went downhill from there
It would have been based without the subwoofer
Well. The PC speakers were just like. In the basket. Like just pointed away from the rider and not strapped down
Not aimed or strapped down or anything
Just loosely jumbling around sideways
i love my mid-fi
these cant hold on a bike
11kg too much
cargo bikes can do 50kg-100kg easy.
I think you could make it happen
What about yamaha ns-1000 on bike
Does anyone have an ipad pro 13 (newest M5 one)
Scrambles my brains good đ€€
and they are.. good..
5-10 meters off in coordinates
bad for today
But 28 years ago?
I swear it couldve been the best in the market

Hello, I want to set up a microphone where its about 70cm away from my mouth, I am currently using my mic where its really close to my mouth so its better for quality and how its meant to be used (about 5-15 centimeters from my mouth). HOWEVER, when I did try putting my mic to that 70cm distance, people complained that it sounded lower quality/a bit echoing or just that it didnt sound right
so im wondering if there is a way to make it sound just as or close to as good as it is now being the normal close distance away from my mouth
I am also open to new microphone recommendations if something would work better in that regard, currently using a hyperx quadcast x with voicemeeter
could always get a shotgun mic
its extremely directional
point it at your mouth and bam, amazing microphone quality
Shotgun Rode VideoMic NTG
(mount sold seperately, but you can put it to a boom arm if you have one already. i do believe it has standard screw mount)
under the suspension mount
Thank you thank you, I was actually planning on buying a new boom arm because my current one is just awful and I've been looking at the rode psa1+ so this will go nicely with it
Thank you
np !
but please watch youtube reviews and do your own research! before making any major purchases on stranger recommendations. o7
best i can do is point you in a direction
Good idea thank you
You need a microphone designed for that, you can't magically make a normal one work like that
Yeah me and tsukuyomi (just above) talked about getting a shotgun mic
So I'll probably be getting that but I will also do a bit of research and look at some reviews
just an FYI
shotgun is very directional, so if you point at your face. whoevers listening to you will hear EVERYTHING your face makes xD including squelches and passive mouth noises and breathing
đ
I don't want them to hear that
Jeez
you might be better getting something like this...
its Cardi and its USB-C
fits perfectly on that rode boom arm you want
and its used by ALOT of youtubers/twitch streamers and podcast people who want an alternative to the Shure SM7B
Would a Shure sm7b be better tho do you think?
but if you want a much better mic, and have deeper pockets. i could suggest something better for you
the Shure is more used, but its also more expensive
Cause again I need mic that is good for the distance it is away from my mouth
I feel as though the most I'd spend on 1 single microphone is ÂŁ150-200
i think the NT-USB+ is maybe around 250$ CAD, and the Shure is around 500-600$ CAD
200 is if I'm like "this is it, this is what I've been looking for my entire life"
Yeaaah
^^;;
Not sure what that is in cad
But I've seen the Shure sm7b prices before
I'll go to sleep for now but if you want you can do some mics to me, if you'd like to
I will look deeper into it tomorrow
DM me, I can join a call and ask you how mine sounds if you want a cheaper option than a SM7B.
I have a AT2035, I imagine the AT2020 would work just fine at that distance as well.
I've frequently seen the sm58 recommended instead of the sm7b for sounding just as good at a fraction of the price
I have a friend with one, sounds good enough over calls.
Not sure about what distance they talk into it from.
I imagine it is probably closer than 70cm though.
@true orbit Audio clip + photo of how far I was.
About this far, yeah?
definitely similar distance yes
@true orbit if you want to be audible clearly from far away, shotgun mic is your best bet. But they're kinda finicky. You can also try playing with the processing settings on your wave XLR. You want to use the compressor setting if it has one.
Another option is a lapel mic, something that just clips onto your shirt with a long wire. It's kinda dorky but they're one of the most common mics that professionals use when trying to capture vocals outside.
Also do NOT waste your money on an sm7b. It's not worth it.
For basic use, if you want a dynamic mic, the xm8500 is perfectly fine. If you want something fancier, get the SEV7.
Hmmm so I've seen that Behringer released a new Juno 60 clone, the JN-80. I wonder if that's worth getting over looking around for a used Minilogue XD.
imo. if you want a mic, but it has to be far away. Don't get a mic
you can ge a lavilier mic or idk. Modmic
that's just better than any other normal mic
in this situation
Is there a good mic for around 100-150 euro? I bought the pd200x a while ago and like 2 months ago i bought an interface but now my mic is being weird.
There comes like a buzzz sound when i talk and if i look at the sound input i see the bar 24/7 puting out db
Not very high but annoying it is af its like its better when i used with only usbc instead of xlr but i dont want to waste it
@fast stratus @lean grove thank you for all the help
I'll let you guys know what I decided upon
Have a great day man.
Much appreciated.
Thank you, you too
what interface

check if all cables are plugged in correctly
and check if no audio cable is near a power supply or power cable
if you use a fethead, don't use it lol
They are all plugged in correctly and none is near a power supply
I have the topping e2x2
I though upgrading it would help but it didnt or i did something wrong
It was first like damn yo mic is good are you a streamer? And now it is turn yo mic out cuz its mad annoying
firmware up to date?
It is
Waths wronh?
JBL amp in my RCZ only plays the stock tweeters, but any aftermarket tweeter I plug in gives no sound even though they work on other amps.
Stock tweeter has a built-in capacitor and is ~2.5 ohm, while the new ones was 4 ohm but i made them 2.2ohm with a resistor. but even tho i plug it in i get no sound
thats weird
they should work
Many factory JBL systems use active tuning where the stock tweeter assembly includes impendance network dont they
idk, but it has like a 2.2 uF capacitator, which the new focal tweeters does not have
i dont know if thats what makes the jbl amp go into protection mode or not
Stock JBL tweeters work fine
Tried aftermarket tweeters â no sound from tweeters
New tweeters work on another amp, so theyâre not broken
I suspect the JBL amp is picky about load / crossover
even tried to play music, remove the other tweeters while playng music, and then plug the new ones inn
still no sound
Man the aftermarkets would work if jbl didnt love dsp so much
the other problem is that i cant change the amp
that sucks even more
this is the stock amp
and its so much fucking work re routing cables if i were to get a new amp
also need to code a new canbus that accepts a new amp
and measure every signle cable to find out what is what

bro wtf
Whoever created this is possibly fired by now.
prob
only made system in my car
like
my car is the only one in this world who has this shit system
and it does not make it better that i have a shit android headunit that distorts sounds
Just wear headphones ||đȘ€ ||
why needs headphones when peak exists
may your headphones weight 11 grams
and may my speakers weight 11 kilograms
per piece
need yamaha ns1000
just me that hate when people try to flex their stock car system in the new fancy car they bought. And you just sit there and think ( fucking hell this is shit )
High price does not mean high quality đ
my friend needs to learn that
stupid immature ego idiot
Exactly
He spent 1k usd on a subwoofer
I paid 300 usd and made my own box
I have less rms and still better sound
And better bass
i have 100w sub from a jbl bar 2.1 in my room and its good enough
Yeah
slight overpowering made it great for home listening
wired a t.amp e-400 to it since i got that amp for free
I hate it when anyone tries to flex their car system
So yes I agree.
Constantly thinking "fucking hell this is shit" to anyone with a subwoofer too. Every panel rattling with their 6th order bandpass fartbox knocking things off shelves in people's homes as they pass by.
Spending all that money to annoy people when they can just get the same effect of vibrating their car from some $200 tactile transducer under their seat.
Hahhaa true, I got a 400rms sub and it plays amazing
Itâs loud and shakes my car a little
I bet you can hear it for miles
Yeah you can
But it sounds good
My friends just want most bass
More shaking
And more spl
I think it should be legal and encouraged that if you can hear someone's car from more than 20 feet away you should be able to throw a really heavy rock at them.
Imagine if hundreds of people did that
Hahahhahahah
God that would be so great
Uh huh
Should I be worried
that's... odd
it should be merely a trim piece though
since the headband itself is stitched together
wait were u picking at it/fidgeting with the edge?
No, I just kind of noticed it
ah
well it's alright
if it slots back into place u can glue it back
the headband itself won't fall apart because of it, because it's all sewn together
but it's an aesthetic piece that you may or may not care about
These are great.
I have a similar one for my headphones.
10/10 purchase.
@restive sigil Can you send me a link to the sanitizing gel you use btw?
wait wha ? lol
You're the person in the CAG server that went to canjam and is super clean, right?

im not wrong đ

Volume 2 for more amplification stages. đ
We love hiss and being deaf.
Volume 2 before GTA 6.
I'm done now, had to get it out of my system.
This airport is driving me insane.
Yeah
I think this was talked about recently but it's gotten lost in all the converstations--
I know you can't with headphones, but for IEMs can you just autoeq yours to the FR of a different one, assuming both properly measured with the same machine? Would there be peaks from the specific machine and if so do they just equal out since they're applied to both?
only one way to find out
if its distorting, you're probably listening at levels causing hearing damage
No i mean, its not loud at all
Its so low i donât hear any audio when i drive
yo DMS audio bro! ima go test HEDD TWO this weekend. đ we gonna see whats what
i liked the TWO GT, hopefully the TWO will be more "AMT like" and act as a long term "fun alternative" to my collection.
(im planning on owning 1 good headphone from each driver type. eg: DD, Planar, AMT, Estat, BA)
I skimmed through this a bit. Issues with car speakers that cannot be turned up without distortion? The speaker amp is messed up if the speakers themselves aren't blown. If you can hook up the speakers to a home theater receiver, then you can rule out the amp or speakers. I've never messed with car speakers, so you might need to find adapters or solder something together for testing. Receivers can be had cheaply if they are very old and discontinued, don't need to splurge on anything modern for any reason.
edit: okay, if new tweeters won't work with the amp you're using but do with a different amp, I'm thinking that the crossover is in the amp and not compatible with the tweeters indeed.
When choosing speakers , you need to know the output impedance, power, and crossover frequencies (if this applies) of your speaker amp. Not sure if there are wiring considerations to keep in mind.
Circuit schematic, not quite a wiring diagram. Only useful to technicians, mainly.
then youve got smth loose in your car
probably not distortion, but just panels vibratinh unevenly

Bro is making me consider spending more money.
Are there good subs for like $50? Most âcheapâ good subs Iâm finding in stores are like $200ish
I have MR4s for my main speakers, but a smallish sub would be nice lol
No
8" SPEAKER DRIVER. Delivers powerful sound with highly accurate, distortion-free bass. well this is the $200 one i was looking at off and on
Anything under about 500 is a just a mid bass enhancer at best
i got a budget gaming laptop with awful speakers
acer nitro 5
i was wondering if there are any already existing laptop speakers i could replace my laptop's speaker with
i heard someone put macbook speakers on their regular laptop once and it worked great
it won't work properly. But you could pick up a pair of creative pebbles.
nah i want it inside my laptop
something i can use while im in my bed too lazy to get my headphones
Work and go buy a better laptop not from acer with better speakers
That's the kind of thing you have to spend time engineering to make it work, its not just an off the shelf thing you can buy
it's doable, but Nitro 5's built in speaker amps are piss weak
i did not just fit a tv soundbar underneath my 27" monitor
you're prob better off trying to EQ the existing speakers
macbook speakers sounding decent has a lot to do with the DSP tuning they do. The speakers are well engineered too, but they're tuned digitally.
DSP
đ
DSP is the dlss 5 of amplifiers
Nay. All audio realistically need some level of DSP tuning.
not my amps
can someone help? I have this wireless bluetooth earphones and the mic dont work for some reason like when i enable microphone for desktop apps and try to talk on cs2 let's say i wouldnt hear a single thing and my mic isnt working but it works normally on my phone
DSP is one of the cheapest and easiest audio improvements you can do.
And it doesn't even impact the amplifier
i want my slayers douboe bass to sound like bbtbtbtbtbtbtb and not bwomp
well, realistically the amp isnât coloring the system, but your speakers or headphones do.
And the only way to actually make speakers match a good in-room response.
Good lord
"Excuse me, sir/ma'am/humanoid, but you can't bring that bomb speaker through airport security."
just say sir dw
Why???
Sounds like clipping
not.
I've seen bombs that look less threatening than this
Literally everything you listen to ran through DSP
If the sound is not 50+ years old lol
But today's media is all DSP
I can vouch for the Fiio K11 btw
Also I want a improvement over my HD 560s, I was considering some Sundaras or Edition XS, but I need to know your thoughts
Edition XV could work
XS is a EQ playground
But both good. Sundara too
(not a personal fan of the Sundara tho)
Can the K11 drive them? @lone flame
like hearing loss volumes
oh then ofc not
I don't think you could translate it to a percentage
Well actually I guess you could calculate it, ignore me
how do you want it to be improved?
đ so much work to do to make the new apartment not sound like an echo chamber
Anyone know if the SS-CS5 bookshelfs are wireless? Best buy says wireless, Sony's site doesn't say one way or the other, and there's no pictures of the rear. AI overview says passive wired đ€
I found pictures it's definitely wired
Guys airpods max or some sony xm4 or xm6 ?
I know the price difference is huge, and I don't think it's worth it even if you have the ecosystem
xm6
HDB 630
hows the ANC on it?
They are about $150 USD more than xm6
apperently the HDB 630 have a better sound profile, once you tune it with the PEQ in the Sennheiser sound app
unfortunately, the ANC tech in it, isnt even as good as Apples or Sonys
so i dont think if you're going for ANC quality, you'd get that from the Sennheiser
but apperently people are enjoying its sound signature once you tune/tweak it in the app
but yeah also, its 150$ more
do you have a store to demo either headphone ?
like a bestbuy or something
uh.. okay
not the best
tho the sound is really good
yeah thats what i heard
i heard mix'd reviews on sound
some ppl say its the best headphone in the world
others say its only good when you tweak the EQ in the sennhesier sound app, because out of the box its generic as heck
battery life is okay, it says on average 50-60hrs with 50% volume and no ANC
thats pretty normal/average
Guys, guys, did u know, 8$ amazon cables just as good as 4 000$ audio cables
https://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/42516-billiga-ljudkablar-lika-bra-som-extremt-dyra
i mean, i think the real statement is "guys, did you know idiots pay 4,000$ for audio cables?"
Review and comparison of Kimber KS1036 RCA Cable vs Amazon Basics.
Review: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/kimber-ks-1036-silver-rca-cable-review.70121/page-17#post-2551660
ok
most expensive headphone cable i have was like 60$
and it was only that much because it was 4.4 pentacon
the rest, i use stock cables that come with my headphones
lol
Its just a cable after all
This is good cable already
Needs gold plating and advanced titanium mesh weave shielding or how else will it carry an electrical pulse /s
unless the cable costs more than your speakers, you're not hearing everything your speakers can deliver.
so I have to buy 1000 ft instead of 6?
Could somebody recommend me an interface for the Rode podmic USB?
just use the usb
Thatâs what Iâve been using, problem is that rode unify is sometimes bugging out and will just die needing to be restarted (so i can actually mute when needed etc)
the issue is
to get an interface with a good mic input AND a mute switch
uh, there aren't many.
shure MVi and focusrite Vocaster immediately come to mind
but neither are really great interfaces
is the app getting killed in the background?
Its more so it randomly just stops responding? Like if im muted while and the app crashes i have to task manager end it and open it up again for my pic to unmute and vice versa
Its not a constant thing but its happened a couple of times, maybe just windows thats gotten dookie idk lol
I will say i like unifyâs settings, just gotta tweak them to suit me best cuz i have zero clue what half do
Mine is $17 including shipping.
