jq 4u pro or something like the crin red? both for the same price
asking because one is a more expensive, older iem, but "good quality doesn't degrade"
at the same time iems advance so quickly
definitely not a 6xx
is that koss
Turtle beach
not that bad for turtle beach
7y old headset
But i'm using an eq, so it's better
based
mad cuz bad
Cheapest.
XM8500 or C1
Vocaster One as interface
I got moon drop ultrasonics today. Overall pretty nice but definitely heard better headphones.
Yeah most people will never need anything better than what they offer
imo throw the UM2 away
and get a Vocaster One instead
may be 16⬠more but the Mic performance is FAR better
Does smartphones still assume there is a microphone on the wired in-ear headphones if you connect them; & hence would the phone still try to use the non-existing microphone on them for voip calls like snapchat
or does it understand the difference & just put the audio into the wired headphones & keep using the built in microphone in your Android phone?
by wired I mean 3,5mm
not "usb-c"
The phone should be able to work it out, they will have different connectors
The phone should be able to figure it out, but if you're trying to use a TRRS cable without a mic (not sure how, but ykno), it could assume there's a microphone input.
I know i have some TRRS interconnects for Hart audio, and those would do something like that.
is the Rig 700 pro good
Speaking of tesla sound system
I have a tesla model 3 sr and there are lots of speakers not plugged in that are plugged in on the LR one
I need to see how to plug them, if tesla could do it for me etc
Wait I think that's the same song my friend had me try on my iems
it made them crackle from the subbass
I'm looking for 2 speakers to get for my desk. The budget (total) would be about 150ā¬. Any recommendations?
yes you can, and dunno if it ashows up as is device ain asio4all or in the steinberg asio driver theni think you can do asio with it..
that razr is a usb webcam
aand if you think about it ,... a mic plugged into a external audio dac , that plugs into usb , can do asio , baut a mic that plugs into usb can't? what kind of logic would that be
good luck with live recording without direct monitoring
if you use linux with pipewire and an RT kernel you can ... so its not a hardware limitation
on windows you should be able to aswell now that i think about it , its not live but anything under 1ms is not noticable so
or guitar rig wouldnt be a product ...
im pretty sure this is a hardware limitation when you have to send signal to the pc and back
direct monitoring is supposed to be directly receiving the input to outout
well yeah but if that happens under 1ms its not noticable , and guitar rig even does the proccessing in that time.
depends on the samplerate and the buffersize and what your cpu can handle
if you are in recording at upper samplesizes i doubt you will be getting a good real time listening experience
thats where those high samplerates come in handy, as for the same buffersize ,double the smaplerate means half the latency
(and double the load on the cpu)
and you would have to have the entire chain in asioland, using tools like voicemeeter and vbcable's asiobridge eg might come in handy if going that route
or JACK2+ASIO, but i dont know if thats still popular these days
i used it allot but as it worked really easy to link stuff toghether
and that is why?
because i recon its a better real time experience if you cpu can handle it
ig if you have a good gpu and its not a large project you can probably but im doubtful that will remain the same way without increasing the buffer as your projects start getting larger
linux has rt kernels for that, windows hasnt unfortunatly , the closest it has is this option , and set it to optimize for background services
and secondly , your not doing vocals with a full project running , so either they are stems already or your doing them in advance depending on the genre
maybe a better point to make is this , if your setting up a professional studdio this prolly isnt the way to set things up , but if your looking to make the most out of the stuff you already have and what you can afford /are willing to put into it, there is no reason why it cannot work
his usb mic costed more than an audio interface and 2 other mics combined
Hello! I'm looking to buy some earbuds with good ANC and im thinking between these two:
- Soundcore Liberty 4 NC
- CMF Buds 2 Plus
Both are around the same price and i've watched a tons of reviews but i'm really confused since users on reddit say this, reviews on youtube say that and some websties say something else
Starting a discussion and putting forward a challenge
I personally donāt believe frequency response encapsulates everything that determines how headphones or speakers sound, but I know some people do, so hereās a challenge: consider measurable factors like interaural time differences, interaural level differences, cross channel interaction, step response, bandwidth, nonlinearity, intermodulation distortion, channel matching, crosstalk, load interactions, and any other objective behaviors you can identify.
Try to fit all of these into a model where FR alone explains the listening experience. If you canāt, please play with and consider the idea that maybe these other measurable factors play a significant or even larger role in what we actually hear.
To be clear, this is meant to encourage deeper thought and to force people to challenge their beliefs. This is not meant to say anyone's beliefs are wrong, or to attack any beliefs.
If anyone would like any help understanding any of the ideas I proposed or is unaware of their definition, feel free to ask, and do not feel as if it is wrong to not already know some of these phrases off the top of your head.
I wonāt say whatās right or wrong, but hereās another thought experiment. Suppose you only know a systemās frequency response, FR(f), and the system is nonlinear in amplitude. Can you compute the total output for an arbitrary input by summing or integrating FR(f) across all infinitesimal voltage steps for all input voltages, without knowing the amplitude-dependent transfer function? Think about what this implies for relying on FR alone to predict real-world behavior.
(This one is more complex and if you don't understand integral calculus I recommend ignoring it and focusing only on the first thought experiment)
I have worked this out, so if anyone wants to discuss it with me, feel free to @me and find a time to discuss.
i got one of these
they are NOT it
if my weaker amp has 20wpc i cant fathom what this thing has
it showed me the true meaning of clipping
and the vu meters suck and the volume goes to 30
it sounds noticeably nicer out of my phone
my headphones*
Yeah reviews and reddit are usually only good for getting more confused.
Take a look at options from moondrop. Theyre cheaper and tuned pretty well.
EAC isn't finding the track info for the Album I bought that came out this week...this program sucks(this is a joke)
I hope at least one person is happy...I got out my old BD-ROM drive to remedy the ripping errors
I just tag everything with musicbrainz picard manually afterwards instead of trying to get the ripper program to do it
Ended up ordering the soundcore liberty 4 nc, hope they're good haha
yeah its possible
XLR - Bones
I'm too poor to afford to pay for that kind of stuff.
huh? its free and open source
*Says the guy with two Bluray drives
it costs you a bit of time though, trying to match up exactly the right release
Then who is trying to charge me money to use Musicbraiz?
where is someone trying to charge you
There is exactly one release of the CD that came out this week
it's a publicly accessible database for free
oh. ok. thanks for telling me
so, should I submit to them?
is there a specific program I should use?
"Download Picard ā the official MusicBrainz tagger ā and use it to identify and clean up your digital music collection."
"clean up"?
I dont want it deleting part of my collection
you can configure it all
also, i think some ripper programs have musicbrainz integration
the main function is to correct the tags without writing everything manually
Considering nobody else has apearently submitted the album...
i guess you found something rare
i think musicbrainz and discogs are the largest databases
Why TF did I use the submit button in the program If I still just have to type all this info manually...
This MF trying to give me English advice and then saying "typically", like it means it's correct...
Does that say something?
that is irish
I think it's just a dot code
I'm uploading a 150MB Jpeg to MusicBrainz...lol
"Two people decided to write on the cover before I opened it. Sorry."
150mb and lossy is a crime
how did this happen
whats the next step up from xm4s
broke a second pair the inisde of the can that holds the hinge always breaks
holy shit this is the best crashout ive seen in this channel
and its over a 3 year old message of some dude arguing with a person who's account doesn't even exist anymore
dont be this is amazing

what in audio science motivates you to call someone a fascist over calling monoblocks a waste
i mean yeah you commented on anything but that
even brought up elon musk š
wait elon is a fascist?
what?
i dont know you are the one who told me this?
oh
i didnt realize you described that
okay thats good
ba dum ts?
i think there is a language barrier?
who is hank green
What are you on about, lol. This is an audio channel.
why is he fascist?
do you understand that people are sometimes from countries not america
Have you forgotten to take your meds?
Currently the only wasting space happening is this conversation.
I like music. Do you?
but you brought up the subject?
how does this reflect to me for asking I dont understand
no
Ah, true audiophile here
do you know what music elon musk listens to
I didn't know he was talented in music too
I'll listen to it sometime.
what the hell did I just read up above
I think I'm reading the description of an aliexpress listing
Not too far off tbh
However, as a Buddhist, mad economist there was aware that trash can be a place where beauty like the lotus thrives
and then you look at the photo and it's a corrugated steel panel
this would go so hard as a description on an aliexpress tactile keyboard switch
oh who let the psych ward patient in
clearly
you know people can walk between neighborhoods right
or drive
the thieves aren't your neighbors
the locks aren't for your neighbors
presenting as such
nilsā comment was wasteful, intriguing
I think you don't know how social interactions typically work and you periodically get chased out of communities because you're incoherent and disruptive.
My brother in christ, this is the audio tech channel, not a place for your schizophrenic postings
Tbh just block or ignore, idk that its gonna stop on its own
putting a tenner on this
donāt let me down Nils š¤
If the above paragraphs weren't a hint, he doesn't need anyone to engage with him to find it rewarding to talk.
was the point made before or after āYouāre being watchedā ?
i lost track about there
At least you won't see it, I found it hilarious to see 39 blocked messages lmao
Bro doesn't talk in this server for 5 years and then suddenly goes on forever by themselves
mfw I forget to take my meds
REAL
I've got stupid monkey brain. If I see a rock I gotta know if there's a bug underneath it.
so true
no bugs under this rock
I do wish discord just omitted it entirely
whole lotta nothing
was this the point?
all that yap for a statement a 6 year old could intuitively answer?

okay bro
Two sides of the same coin

One would not percieve if it wasnt presented
At least I thought it was an AI someone let loose in a channel but I'm thinking more it's just actually someone schizo posting
how to make an I forgot to take my meds type beat

Not the Oxford Debate Counsel
Keep glazing š„
LMAO klaus
No he's got a history of doing this in other servers.
I'm guessing mad_economist killed toffee's parents or wrecked his personal life (what else would warrant such a response?) and now toffee found a mutual server to gripe about this.
by these actions brother I entered chat on your third hour of yapping
your schizophrenic ass could not pay me money to read it all
of course Iām going in without the full context, I donāt care about that in the slightest
š³ woah...
youāre doing a schizo version of a PhD graduate asking a random person on the street questions about their Dissertation
That is dangerously close to a compliment
but you see, if you just like look at the greater picture
Thereās a but
But you have 0 of the skill or discipline of a PhD student and are instead abusing your innate ability to type characters in a chat room
Someone convince me not to buy crinear
groundbreaking stuff really
Toffee's like the Michael Jordan of ruining the vibe
donāt buy crinear
so true
Ok

Also bro thinks all jobs are soul killing fluff that is unproductive to the betterment of society
aye cooked
About 30-40% of them are.
I am engineer. I think i do cool stuff.
I wonder what inability to make peace with a suboptimal situation says about a person
Truthear pure tuned by Listener of headphones dot com
not wrong
listener tuned an iem?
"Tuned"

Gave advice is the more accurate term
I have ALL of Jakeās emotes
lol
Told them please make a dark iem
There are a lot of jobs that are productive and rewarding, but there's also a lot that plainly aren't.
The cool thing to think about is that there are a fair amount of jobs that are negatively productive meaning that an employee costs the overall economy a certain amount for every dollar they earn, meaning that employing these types actually harm the overall economy.
Lawyers for example
My job is productive and helpful to society š
You code jiggle physics into gacha games
Real shit
Hardware engineer, I make digital systems.
We expensive but how else do you get your AI chips.
Hardware level jiggle physics. Impressive.

Nah. Idk if i can handle more than one audio channel now
you can ping him here with your complaints

There's more blocked message things than people talking in my discord now
@prime locust good puppies don't bark š¤«
@prime locust ok, putting aside any hilarity and tounge-in-cheek, I am genuinely tired of your rambling.
So I ask you, can you please cease this?
Speaks volumes how quickly you are to think other's lives are worthless
I think you are just a plainly unpleasant person and you have to find random servers to get the attention you want.
Pathetic, really
Oh well. I'm sure you'll get banned from this one too. And then you'll move on.
he did?
aw man all the messages deleted
and nothing of value was lost
dude
this was amazing
this experience is staying with me for life
I cannot believe someone would nuke these messages these are worthy of being put in louvre
anything that someone can do in the audio chat from onwards is just a massive bar lower than what we just had its never going to peak like this
heās still in my dms
methinks heās a little silly
can I have screenshots
i would just block and move on lol
If someone is harassing you in DMs after being banned, just right click a message and click 'report' to report for harassment, it'll also give you the option to block them
You got rid of the little guy on your shoulder in your avatar
L
What on earth did I miss lmao
Nothing relevant
Sounds like someone had a huge crash out lol
it was honestly incredible
Lol
sure lmao
he replied to a message that was like 3 years old
Lmfao
and had a crash out over it mentioning fascism and elon musk and cryptobros
Wait is goldensound the yt channel that had a big problem with dCS amps?
yeah
I think i just realized who that was
He had 3 years to plan a response and that was it lol
Idk, I was getting genuinely annoyed
I miss him
I just find that whole scenario crazy to the degree it's funny
I miss him so much
is he like gone gone
or just silent
the trail
its not too cold yet
Let's go
@sleek lily you missed so much, it was like probably hundreds of thousands of words over a few hours
Wot
they sent so many messages
@zenith pawn tbf, some people in the audio space make anyone want to crash out
But you just don't
It's as simple as that
You go on with your life
They were mad about amplifier attenuators or something, it barely even seemed related to the original message
Lmao
Tbf to him, madecon makes me want to crash out at times too
But that's wild
its insane
To go on a rant about him being a fascist?
over a 3 year old message at that
His biggest crime is being a little too condescending and semantic about engineering concepts he doesn't have the best grasp on.
But I don't think he's a literal fascist
ive no idea who he is
And even that, he's not terrible. He's got a better grasp on things than most.
He's an econ dude who is really into measurements in short. doesn't deserve that level of crash out by any means lol
Especially not 3 years later lol
My HD6XXs arrived today, and by some miracle, I wasn't asked to pay VAT or customs. So yeah, I got the equivalent to a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s, brand new for just under £160.
W
@gloomy cave taxes still need to be paid though, so I'll collect your vat and customs

i just got these two things for 80 dhdhdhdhdhdh
Those look amazing
i caught it 12 hours after it was listed but that was at like 10am
Amazing
and the power button was caved in but i temporarily fixed it
I love vintage gear
im happy i cant wait to see how they sound compared to my previous purchase(this)
me too its fun and cheap sometimes and it sounds really good imo :3
I went on a spree of restoring vintage headphones
this is 90s though so it loses a couple points but its sony es and wood panels so im happy
vintage headphones havent ever been comfy for me so i can only care for them so much
i just restore and resell laptops but i do enjoy my audio and good deals and stuff
and its an excuse to look at cool things
mmhm they could probably afford realer materials
its nice
also grr theres a background hum on the preamp
does it have a ground prong
you might be able to ground it yourself and replace the cord
might be double amping humm yeah
but it is not officially grounded probably
it has to be grounded somewhere and thats probably the chasis
meh i dont know my super old technics and also new uh (that) are both fine
if you find it and just replace the cord you can ground it yourself
its crazy people charge money for this lol
like yamaha
ill see ill look into it uh
look up a tutorial on it because you need to discharge the amplifier
or else you might shock yourself with 300v
so it hums on all inputs except the digital ones
im researching it a bit but uh i will be careful but ive worked on a ton of crts before so im also used to working around scary things
maybe its the caps or something i saw one of them bulging a little and its also evening out a little with time
and like 90s uh build quality is evil grr curse of things having issues
if i pause my music ill hear it but otherwise its quiet enough and man this thing does sound quite good,,
cuz it's ungrounded
doesnt it not need grounding though
ive had so many pieces of audio equipment that i dont think ive grounded that have worked fine
mmmmmm i've seen most have the third prong on the plug for grounding, and if it's USB it has ground. maybe older gear wouldn't, but they design for that.
....should design for that.
hmm interesting ive only ever really seen the opposite
even my newer like 2011s yamaha receiver only takes a 2 prong
and uh so has i think every receiver ive used at least that i can remember
i think its a hardware issue though but ill just watch some restoration videos or something and then maybe take a shot at the caps and see if that fixes it
it's cheaper to only use two.
the caps do look suspicious upon visual inspection so id like to get a better look at them eventually
how much do you have to pay to get three then
that yamaha cost somebody 1500$ new
"have to pay," doesn't change how much they want to spend in engineering sometimes.
someone somewhere wanted to cut out the third conductor for ground, so they designed around it.
i dont know if its cost cutting uh what companies have 3 prongs then
it might have saved them $0.30 per unit, but the bean counter got a bonus.
if any i guess
cost is the wrong tree to bark at, i should have rephrased that.
If you want a technical answer, then here we go. technically, avoiding grounding the unit would prevent ground loops. you can also absolutely design for lack of ground, adding extra separation between circuits. This just makes it so that earth isn't required in the design.
sometimes, if the receiver connects to other stuff, like. a cable box, it might indirectly ground via signal cables, so they don't need a direct earth connection.
but again, all three of those things enable you to eliminate the third conductor in the cable, which is cheaper; raw copper wire is more expensive than implementing most of those features.
one trick i've used in the past to do that is tying the ground to chassis along with the signal ground.
honestly i think ill probably just take things for what they are and just bring it back to normal standard working condition
also keep in mind that Japan uses two-prong ungrounded outlets, similar to the US's NEMA-1 plugs.
Designing the power supply to utilize the chassis and signals for ground means that it works in both Japan and the USA, because both countries utilize a similar voltage at the plug.
i may mod things one day but for now im fine just having it as it is(once i fix the hum)
that is interesting
Japan's outlets aren't always grounded, so you can't count on having a ground available like you can with US's NEMA-1 (and in some cases, older US homes don't have ground either.)
where if you buy audio gear from some place where a ground connection is required, it will always have the third conductor.
generally speaking, from a safety perspective, you should always ground metal chassis to earth.
yeah, i've been in engineering for a long time and learned many years ago that most stuff is driven by half legit, practical reasons, and another half by cost savings.
is it really
im pretty sure its just to have an excuse to sell 3 prong ones for 100$ more
yes, you eliminate an entire 6 feet of copper conductor, the three prong plug which costs more, and replace those with a single wire from signal ground to chassis.
replace 6 feet of wire and a plug with 3 inches of wire.
its so negligible
3 cents per unit is still 3 cents per unit
they can go to their boss and say how heckin awesome they are
if the humm changes volume when you increas the volume on the amp vs your phone that may tell something where its comming from. may also be how the speakers/headset are/is wired to the amp, (common ground eg) and since wires act like antennas if you have long unshielded (and untwisted) wires to the speakers it may even be those that pick up the humm
if you have things like central heating radiators , they serve as a ground pretty well to š
can't make a product that tells someone to strap a wire to the radiator lmao
true , missed that it was about making a product , the neutral of the mains is basicly a ground to , it just is grounded every so often at the streetlevel
(but japan does the US thing with their mains like both have potential if im not mistaken unlike in europe , so that wont work either)
no, neutral is current-carrying, so you cannot use it in place for a ground.
yes, they do tie it to earth at the service panel but it isn't suitable for class 1 safety
yeah thinking about it it woiuld defeat the differential fuse
depends on the question i guess š
The question is, "is this audio tech?".
i would go with yes...
Would you guys recommend I get a 1 farat capacitor for my amplifier in my truck subs? I'm running a Rockford Fosqate prime r2-750x1 with dual 12" JL subs wired in parallel. I had a .5 farat capacitor for my amplifier in my escape, that was a Kenwood Excelon XR1001-1 with dual 12" subs as well and that worked good to keep the power stable
@broken grotto do you know what this symbol means?
I recommend you don't put any subwoofers in your truck because everyone hates that.
I understand that, which is why I turn them down when I get into residential areas, as I did with my ford escape
Get yourself a tactile transducer, butt kicker, or bass shaker and use that instead. They cost way less, only need a couple hundred watts, and will do all the heavy lifting of a sub setup without pissing off anyone within a half mile radius.
And frankly, even if you're outside of residential places, people still hate it. Anyplace where there are people nearby, they hate you.
0.0 surround
What
Each dot is a speaker
Guys, please, I'm just a casual gamer and I love movies and series... What would be a good speaker for my setup? I found the edifier mr4 great, but it looks too professional for my needs I think... I still would love some great audio
Please put the crack pipe down
Pardon?
Oh the picture was hidden
I mean the cats already out of the bag anyways so I'm just gunna finish it and be as respectful as I've always tried to be lol. Not to say my dads truck is any better being that its a diesel but ya lol
Are you asking me to be facetious or are you actually asking me, @wheat moss?
Is that a tweeter and 2 subs lol
Because if you mean to be passively aggressive telling me what I think you are, trust that I'm well aware.
I'm asking because everything you've said seems to indicate that you don't know
I.. think you missed much of it.. but ok.
That's IEC-60417. Class 2 insulation. Does not require ground wire.
It exists to ensure safety when not using a safety ground.
Does not mean you can just willy nilly use it with any device omitting ground, you still need to design for it.
You can see this, if you'd like.
https://www.iso.org/obp/ui#iec:grs:60417:5172
That symbol is to be displayed if your equipment satisfies those requirements.
Anything else?
too professional?
double isolated appliance i think
its for safety not for signal integrity
*btw finally remembered the brand that had horn loaded speakers for everything š "Funktion One"
Budget?
maybe https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=0316-AAH theyre cheaper so maybe less professional ?
aaaaaaaaaaah
does this mean you bought them, used them, then decided they didn't suit your needs? what did you not like about the mr4
it is very important to know if you physically tried these or not
and what you want to change
you cannot expect useful answers without this
wtf does too professional mean
so it doesnt fit ur setup?
wrong colour?
just paint it
any budget in ear headphones?
perhaps the 7hz x crinacle zero:2
What range do you consider to be budget though
40 euros
Additionally, depending on the product you may be forced to utilize class II, such as a laptop power supply or plastic, insulating case.
The product drives the requirements, and the design is fitted around those requirements. Nothing I said is wrong. If they want to utilize a 2 prong plug, then you must design for IEC class II. There are practical reasons in a headphone amplifier to use a two conductor cable, but then your case and power supply has to satisfy Class II requirements, to be certified Class II. This may be driven to save cost, it may be driven geographically, maybe some of both.
No, I was looking for new speakers and I loved the mr4, but I'm not a professional in the audio field, so it's features look too good to be used for gaming and movies only...
So I'm looking for some good speakers, but mostly for gaming
how is this an issue
speakers being too good
Some reviewers say the sound is too clean, that some games might sound bad, but I have no idea of how bad this could be
this doesnt make sense
so they recommend the edifier 1700bt
idk man grab shitty logitechs if you think bad speakers make games sound good
I don't think so, but I have zero experience with good speakers, that's why I asked here
It sounded weird to read ppl say it could sound bad in games...
reviews are based on demographics
its one thing to sell a burger to a pedestrian vs a gourmet
5000$ hifimans get shit on in comments and have like 4 star ratings on amazon
vs 200$ jbls often have 4.8 stars
which of these items do you presume is worse?
true
in any case one is a more enthusiast item that someone wouldn't find youtube ads for but in any case stereo speakers are fairly simple, good speaker is good for most applications typically
only thing you can branch onto for movies & games is surround which is expensive
Hmmm I see
but stereo is simple, and good stereo speakers are good for most tasks they are supposed to be for, there isn't some mandatory fundemenral configuration because its an enthusiast or pro item
the most "advanced" configuration you can have is buying an adapter cable to plug them in maybe and position them according to a diagram as an end user
Oh, also, I should always opt for wired against Bluetooth, right?
yeah for games definitely or else you'll have audio delay
for movies you can delay the audio/video so its not a huge deal
Hmmm
Then I'm prolly going for the mr4, I loved the design and it's features look really great
And I can use with both tv and Pc too
idk the features honestly it just sounds good
I got 45 year old idk $ speakers
they are older than me
you should look into how to connect them while ordering
Holy, but they are the golden age of speakers, right?
kinda
back then people had so much less to spend on entertainment that spending like 5000$ for a stereo system in todays money was okay for them
you can still get some really good stuff for that money today though
lol
Hehehe
speakers for gaming uhhh
firstly. Games are optimised for headphones
if you wanna game you would need a surround system at its best
i personally would use headphones for gaming because they are way cheaper and easier to use than a full Speaker srtup

AI tuning
its wild my bf used to run this 80s lower end technics and i finally got around to testing the ES power amp and it makes the speakers sound so much better its insane
Take a look at the vanatoo t0
they are a bit expensive š
i am trying to determine if this ES9218P can power dt990 600ohm without issues
but all i see is the output 2Vrms which is 6.6 mw for 600ohm dt990
and DT990 600ohm from the website (idk if this is the correct part)
are Nominal sound pressure level 96 dB -> 96db per mw
and going by the calculator (no more than 80db loudness cuz why would you want hear loss) power comes out to 0.03 mW (which feels kinda super low?)
where am i making a mistake?
It will be usable, but it will probably be too quiet sometimes.
Sensitivity should be in mV not mW but you probably won't have problems if it does output 2V at 600 Ohms
However output voltage depends on Ohms
really? I plugged them in and they sounded normal
I am fighting a repair service that says none of my stuff can drive them (which it did before) and that bleeding of channel L into R is because the source cannot power it sufficiently
They are such dumbasses
i found these
Just tell them you have some stupid beefy amplifier man that's all
i sent them my headphones for a cable replacement 4 times
after first repair - they made this bleeding of L and R issue and 3 repairs after it still persists xD
first 2 repairs i had SoundBlasterX G6 which clearly supports 600ohm and it had same issue so idk
Yeah that's ridiculous. Amplifiers are generally happier powering high impedance headphones than low impedance ones.
so i put like 0.096?
i am not sure thats correct 𤣠i ain't got that much power
96 dB @ 1V should be around fine, the 250 Ohms is at 96 dB @ 0.7V I believe
it feels kinda super low?
@glad creek @trail whale I'm pretty sure the Beyer dynamics are 96 db/mW
so output is 2Vrms which is 2*2/600*1000=6.6 mW
and calculator says that for it to be at 80db it needs just 0.03 mW?
so i basically have a lot of room?
You have dynamic range to worry about.
You may be listening at 80db, but your music might peak at 90db. Or 100db if you're listening to fancy music albums
But still, you've uncovered the truth that headphones actually don't require all that much power.
i felt it with my ears after setting soundblasterx g6 to high gain and then never setting windows volume above 14
with my audeze maxwell i am sitting at like 40 (wireless)
i was testing them after repair by playing a VOD of a trackmania stream
id be concerned with upper dynamic range
it may clip
Nah. It'll just be quiet.
nils is generally wrong so it will probably clip
You won't clip the voltage unless something is being overloaded
And a high impedance headphone is the opposite of that
If something is clipping with this headphone it's because the input is too hot or it was designed to clip. Nothing to do with the Beyer's.
designed to clip? is it like a safety measure to prevent overheating?
No it's what happens when a lazy engineer wants something to be louder than it was designed for
idk most commercial amps clip at high volumes
they think its better for the customer to get clipping but listen at a desireable volume than vice versa
well yeah. bcs the system is overloaded

thats why
for me... having some headroom is way better than pushin an amp at 100%
no clipping
the only issue is that when i do the windows test
right channel bleeds into left
and right channel cannot produce all the sounds (like engine in the trackmania video etc)
tested on low volumes
but i think its their issue of not knowing how to fix the damn headphones
since g6 is perfectly capable of driving dt990
but had same issue
I wonder if you have surround sound turned on somewhere
nope, tested in stereo with all effect disabled
also would not explain the right ear issue with playing sound
you even specify it here
do you know what clipping sounds like
Bad

ahh... crossfeetd
yeah audible crossfeed sucks
ah you have an ALC1220 or ALC4080 soundchip
mostly these 2 chips have impedance detection
and tbh.. IF you have an ALC4080 or ALC1220.. deiinstall the driver
the impdedance detection is kinda bad and ofently messes up hard
like in ur situation. it detects 1000+ Ohms...
and clipping sounds like "farting" or "buzzing"
The detection is there to limit the amp
if u delete the driver. the AMP will be "full power" permanently
Those sound like classes
idk.
the name of the DAC or so on MB
but iirc that are like "DAC/AMP" sets
If you want to detect clipping just get a $20 oscilloscope
nah, no need to measure that. if its not audible. all good. if its loud enough for him. perfect š
if it is anything like the first result on the tube for the "sound clipping example"
then yeah
nah those are a psyop
I got my HD 620S in today and I'm really enjoying them a lot!
I don't think I need a dac/amp with how good they sound already
Audiophile must spend more money.
You need an entire schiit balanced stack for grados
you need the shitty 3 band analog eq from schiit that costs the same as a 16 band one
i wish i could get all the money i wasted on schiit stuff back
have you seen this brother @warm scarab? https://shenzhenaudio.com/products/topping-a900-headphone-amplifier-preamplifier?
shenzhenaudio.com: professional headphone, earphone, amplifier, dac, decoder, hifi player, cable supermarket. you will find good price here.
being able to power three headphones simultaneously is kinda neat
i have no use for such a thing tho
why would someone need this š
yeah idk this seems like a thing they just made to flex
interestingly the matching D900 dac that is $1700 has significantly worse SNR
not that 131dB isnt still amazing but i wouldve expected them to be similar
i think their newer products are pretty aside from them slapping screens on everything
i do not need a display on my amp that is likely to die before any other part of it
yeah i hate having extra lights in my room
schiit is also an offender
fuckers put spot lights in their items
i grabbed a car window sunlight filter and stacked like 5 of them on the light until it didnt bother me

that's resourceful i suppose
i havent thought about putting window tint on LEDs
id go to black tape first
it bothered me when i was going to sleep it was super annoying
yeah but then if a cat unplugs it i cant tell
which has happened several times
sometimes you want to listen with friends but dont want to use speakers you know
im not paying 1100$ (without import costs) for that shit
it's a feature that youd expect to see in podcasting gear
realistically 99% of people that buy that amp will never listen simultaneously with friends
yeah because they wont have friends
Idk, I bought just their balanced dac and amp years ago and been pretty happy with it.
Not huge on the eq side of stuff though.
I just listen to music man
stop enjoying things
):
š«
it is expen sive and it is a topping
but it has some nice features
like a buildin PEQ
and maybe you can EQ each channel differently?
and it has even MORE power than A70 xD
parametic EQ
You can import Target Curves and Frequency Responses of YOUR headphone
who the fuck needs this
that is actually kinda nice and unique
people that likes to EQ? without seperate software?
wow eq apo but worse
I need it
why worse?
because its only a parametric eq
eq apo can do a lot more
switch to mono
open headroom
use vsts
it can be used in mics
that all uses recources on your PC
here you have live, no real latency sound processing
probably more like 2%
the Europeans and their electricity cost will hate it
"garbage up your pc"
maybe if you have a TV and you wanna eq it
lmfao
with lots of VSTs etc that mess with Windows etc
dude can pay 1.1k for an amp
but buying a cpu that doesnt suck ass is too much to ask for
i could
but i dont need it
also i dont have space for it
INTEL CORE 7 265K š£ļø
R9 9950X š£ļø
i have an i7 6700k still
ewaste
apo eating resources must be the biggest cope ive seen if i can survive with this
you gotta upgrade to the latest
it is buggy and can mess with Windows
buy the new thing and buy the next new thing after that
no
yeah
this is a cope
it is not
z890 won't last forever
š I already had bugs, 2 people from another DC had bugs too
wow
they had to clean reinstall APO
not if the programm doesn't work properly
just buy a media pc and then the junk doesn't matter
Oh wait you could use this if you're using a vinyl or CD player as the source
i bet they would have preferred paying 1100 instead
you can buy the DX5ii too
it has the same PEQ š
and it is 300USD
can pay nothing dollars and zero cents if you are capable of using a computer
I don't know if that helped your case
using PEQ on a dac/amp probably adds more latency than just using EQAPO on a PC
its just a worse eq apo
exactly
What causes this
I can buy a 32 band eq for 50 fucking dollars
sadly you NEED a PC
Oh is this a complaint about buying an expensive amp with eq
not everyone wants a seperate unit
I thought it was purely about hardware eq in general
that thing is a separate unit
its a headphone amp not a speaker one
Unless if you use vinyls with headphones
which honestly should land you in prison
a DAC/AMP with a DSP
all in one is not a seperate unit
I'm gonna start doing this
topping isnt using hardware eq afaik
Since I don't own speakers what else am I gonna do
make a middleware device that does a digital PEQ
hardware eq isnt obsolete its better than software eq in specific applications
you just don't need the said applications in daily use
although that an just what the raspberry pi thing mentioned earlier
having an amp per band gives you great capacity
ok ok... and what benefits?
they have its just overpriced garbage because audiophiles are dumb
Simply make a perfect device that responds perfectly to digital equalization
DX5ii is fairly priced imo
no headroom issue
and you can fuck with peaks and dips much better if you have parametric eq
uhhhhh..... Technically a Digital EQ has more headroom if you use high bitrate
If you go over 0dB. it starts to clip
same with Analogue EQs. If you push it to loud. the signal overloads and it distorts
ok so if you eq to boost anything you go over 0dB
so otherwise you lower anything thats not the said frequency
that's why you lower the Preamp
which is going below 0dB to not clip
can you like think of what you are saying
im saying hardware eq doesn't need that
simply purchase headphones that sound good instead of spending all day eqing :/
speakers
its just better
not really. you cannot make headphones sound perfect
that's why EQ is a nice tool
but then you need 5.1 to get rear sound imaging
gamers
its only good for movies
Oh movies is better
sound engines in games are optimised for headphones
i mean using speakers for games isnt a good idea with or without surround
but music is stereo
you'd hurt your performance witg surround
is it possible to optimize for speakers without specifically measuring and calibrating against your specific room shape
good performing speakers need a good performing setup and room
if you can build a symmetric room with diffusers ad treatment is appropriate posiotions yeah
its like damping in headphones to make them sound better
you need to do that with speakers too
some people pay more on room acoustics and measuring than the speakers themself lol
good performing room how about try performing good yourself
proper speaker setups can be quite expensive
you need perfect placement, a good room and if you wanna do it correctly, measure them
how about you perform good with some bitches
No, sorry, I'm buying open back headphones instead
you can get a pair of adam audio d3v and cut out desk reflection resonances for free in equalizer apo
it wont be a perfect speaker setup but itll be compact and pretty good for $300
wtf is that mouse

what's a good pair of headphones that i can use to connect to my pc and xbox at the same time so i can be watching/listening to a yt vid and be playing a game at the same time and i can hear both of them.
Modified attack shark r3
Swapped the encoder to a TTC gold and the switches to huano blue shell pink dots
I don't think there are any
are those speaker feet your using to prop it up?
jittery fader š¤£
nah, they're just magnetic poles meant to clamp on screw holes, but they sort of look like speaker feet lol
What's a good enough mic for 150 euros in the Netherlands
Do you need XLR or USB? whats this for?
Preferably a USB mic, and just for gaming and calling on discord and stuff like that
100-150 euros about that price range
get a samson q2u or a atr2100x, and then any boom arm
you dont need to spend 150 euros on a mic
Ooo a boom arm is a great idea thanks
its borderline necessary if you want decent audio quality at a desk
Anyone know any good 2 pin iem cables? Preferably 8 core š thanks in advance for any tips
(Canāt be recessed if anything need to stick out a bit )
For truthear HEXAs and a few other more serious pairs
you might have better luck asking in the In-ear-fidelity discord or headphones.com discord
idk anyone here that is rich enough to spend the money on fancy cables and into IEMs that frequent this server
lol thanks brother š
openheart is pretty ok
cheap ali brand with nice cables
Iāll check them out thanks!
I didn't even notice that was goldensound
He's treating things too much like a conspiracy
What server was that in now
check your linkedin notification
they will send another one 1 minute later
microphones
did he really try to @ the dude
schizo posting
i realized the volume knob on my new receiver thing is metal so i can flick it and it makes like a "tink" sound effect
its very cool
Good day y'all, I have a question for this channel, I have a very tight budget (50 USD), and I'm looking for some good enough headphones or IEM for gaming, I have 3 choices at FB market place, some Behringer BH770 for 40 USD, an Audio technica ATH-A500X for 30 USD and some KZ ZSN PRO X for like 25 USD, which one should I get for gaming? (I play competitively)
it looks like it
I already have a microphone, so I don't need some IEM or headsets with mic
Besides ebay, where can I get used headphones/refurbished headphones
Where would you recommend? (US only, shipping in other countries would be pretty dumb)
check hifishark
https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/fiio-ft1.93481/
Is this trustworthy?
Are there other sites that you would use?
up to you. on the forum marketplaces you take the added risk of not having a guarantee. but the benefit is that the marketplace doesnt take a 20% cut like ebay does. so you're getting a cheaper transaction with no backup from the platform
so its entirely up to you to figure out of he's trustworthy, big dog.
look at his post history, do some cyber stalking, DM him for pictures
I'm guessing hifishark compiles all of them into one?
into one search engine yeah
yeah but thats what paypal is for
Headphone: ksc75
Iems: Truthear Gate or Tanchjim Bunny DSP
is truthear gate like a newer, cheaper version of the zero:red?
I admit I took a peek at the frequency response
No, Its a brighter hola
Hola is still my fav iem under 100 usd
hmm I don't have any reference for the hola
also known as TULP š
not sure about headphones but for iems:
- Kinera Celest Wyvern Black Remastered (40usd)
- SIMGOT ew200 (49usd)
these are quite decent budget iem's you may consider. perhaps in the future if you want to consider eq'ing your iem then you can consider moondrop freedsp cable as well.
what would i need to get that working in my pc
because i know i need a analog to digital converter but what should i get? i am kinda on a budget
so maybie $5 or less if i can
for $5 your options are gonna be whatever you can find that's that affordable
I have some old but good tower speakers and a denon receiver. I picked up some old bookshekf speakers off the side of the road. Would it be a crime to use one as a center channel? For movies
Yes, in fact, the Sound Police have already been dispatched to your door for merely asking the question... š¤£
insanity
this is worse than me and iām already a mid yapper
Going to buy the Logitech G Pro X, anything else or pairs to check before? šš»
yes?
Cloud III Wireless S
or A50 gen 5 (pro best value in headsets)
I have a g pro x but havent soldered it yet
I just got the Logitech G Pro X.
For some reason the PC recognize the headphones, shows it's playing sound but ai hear nothing.
Even the app works fine and shows it.
Any way to fix it?...
forgot about existence of astros
and I wanted to try fxsound today ...
RIP
output settings on windows?
can anyone recommend an audio interface with hdmi arc for cheap
interface or receiver?
grr curse of audio uh my apple usbc to usbc cable makes my modi unusable for some reason now but when i switched to a regular usba to c it worked fine grr
Receiver mb
USBC cables are extremely weird, it could be that the apple usbc-usbc isn't pinned for data transfer or something silly like that
check marketplace. would be close to free
hey lads, i just got a S.M.S.L SU-1
however im having trouble deciding on which amp i should get
why Thomann? xD
tulp is actually just an analog connection for a single channel, where the pin in the middle is the signal cable and the circle on the outside si the ground for that signal, white plugs often mean left channel and red right channel,,... so you shouldnt need anything extra to have it work on the output of a pc, other than maybe an adapter convert a audio jack to TULP or what have you , that is if you have analog out , if you dont have analog out a verry cheap usb audio card should do the trick so does a fullon external DAC but theyre more expensive
I have no idea what it is, but it was 1 dollar at the library and it's now part of my collection
lol i misread it as SCAD extractor first , wich made sense at somelevel but not for the rest of the image
as far as cdripping goes , i use Foobar2000 for all
Guess how big the files ripped are
It's not really a CD...
it just looks like a CD and fits in a CD player, and some players can play them because they have an extra laser
not a point in guessing , i have audio stored as midi allt the way upto 32bit floatingpoint 192khz PCM so i guess somewhere in between
This isnt converted to some WAV file. This is a rip of the files on the disc
now i wouldnt call PCM <-> WAV much of a conversion
As I said, this isnt a CD. so it doesnt use the same format
2.8MHz Sample Rate
1-bit depth
5 Channels
718808832 total samples
It's not a simple conversion to WAV. But it's completely possible, but you have to make some personal choices
Get a singxer sa-1
never the less foobar has no problem ripping sacd either to whatever format you like to store it as on your PC ...
2019
sir we use musicbee here
Oh yeah they just released a firmware update for it so it has the virtual surround sound and RGB you want. It'll transform your goon sesh like never before, Klaus
Have you used Foobar to rip a SACD before?
That's not ripping a SACD, that's just for DSD or DSF files
oh hell naw not DSD
the memories of this nerd shii
why 32 bit 192khz
Deal for anyone
I would buy them but I'm looking for the walnut version
the only two valid reasons : latency reduction when buffersize is already set to a value what you would reasonably want to not go below , and benchmarking š
Those are DSD files already on your HDD... That's not ripping
nope thats an sacd iso file
But not a cd
since thats as close i can get using my hardware as i dont have a ps3 or a bluray i can do a firmware mod on
the iso should be identical so there is no point in assuming otherwise since apparently foobar does see it as dsd files and not ripped ones
You don't need a firmware mod. Just a usb stick and a bluray that is vulnerable
And supports sacd, of course
why the usb stick ?
there isnt a difference between smth on a usbstick and smth on the harddrive so its a weird depency
It has a script file on it that runs the program that sends the files to your pc over the network
I think older versions put the music files on the usb stick
so again why doesnt that just run of a harddisk?
Usb is for the bluray player
ah you mean not a blueray 5.25"
You probably can use a usb hdd too
As long as its fat32
The one i currently use is a Sony S590, but i hear progress is being made on the UBP-X80, which I also own
so the program runs on the player and sends it over the network assuming that that is the hard part done , since once it on the network i can even use smth like wireshark to reassemble it theoretically
also i wonder if no pcblueray drive can work with the format , how on earth did they do the mixes of that audio ... and wheter or not it was just mixed on a regular pc/mac , and then converted to be a sacd by whomever made money of the format,...
There's literally a windows program that receives the data. The screenshot
Oh that's easy. Hubris
The bluray player is authorized to handle the files directly.
so as i said, once its on the network , theire is nothing to it to reassemble it... so the lifting is done by the player and the thing on the usbdrive
So, by running the program on the bluray, you have full access to the files and data that were supposed to be secured
Yes
But i think the program also "asks" for the data. It doesn't just start broadcasting
not sure if i get what you mean with this... i mean like audio is mixed for cd or for vinyl wich is completely different , so i assume for sacd there also needs to be a mix but if not able to mix and write a master using pc then how i wonder since its blueray so i assume by that time most mixing is done digitally ...
But if you don't want to run the windows program, I'm pretty sure there's a variant of the script that dumps the files to the usb stick
Not sure what you mean, but converting it to "PCM" is never perfect. Which is why keeping the DSD files and using a real DSD decoder is prefered
what i mean is that to me it seems most likely it was converted from PCM to DSD in the first place ...
Oh, for sure
But once it's DSD, it's fucky
Maybe we can use AI to backwards convert to PCM
Unless it was converted from an analog tape?
converting using a dac that can do 192khz 32bit floats , should be able to get a perfect duplicate of what the dac would ouput when playing the dsd file , so not a 1:1 towards the source but a 1:1 towards the output
Honestly, if you don't have mental issues, with the right settings, using Foobar to convert to WAV should retain, like, 98.6% of the quality
True. The only issue would be filesize. Especially for 5 channel albums
The final boss of SACDs is the mythical dual-layer dual-sided non-hybrid SACD
"many" SACDs have two layers. One SACD, one normal Red Book.
So all the idiots who accidentally buy an SACD but don't have a player can still pop it in their player and nod their head and say, "Wow, the sound quality is so much better than a CD".
On a tangentially related note, why can i just take a picture in 48-bit or 64-bit. Why does "raw" need to be a thing.
another reason is if you want to do audio work on it, the extra resolution can reduce the losses certain filters might add
Hey guys
I have a bit of a niche problem, I just got this Sony āBDV-N9200WL theatre system and I hooked them up to my TV(that has Googleās OS) using HDMI for ARC
Thereās is this feature in the speakers where the backlight RGB matches the TV screen, but this only works when thereās an external source coming into the speaker hub, but I just wanna use the TVās OS
The Hub has a bunch of ports on the back and I canāt help but think thereās a work around for my issue
Plus, thereās a big delay when I change volume.
how many servers did you post this in
Just 2, here and dank
the resolution isn't actually there, it's upsampled in both sample rate and bit depth. the 2 reasons the guy gave are literally are the only 2 reasons it'd be worth having a file of that spec
i respect it
oh, i thought you were asking just in general
i didn't really see any specific context
for playback yeah there's no reason really
moondrop spacetravel as a budget "i travel 2-3 times a month" wireless IEM for 30⬠seems good to me,
any other suggestions?
Space travel 2
didnt even know there was a 2nd version.
i already ordered in the meantime tho and cancellation isnt guaranteed.
would you say its worth the hassle to go through returning the item manually to go from 1 to 2?
i dont really care about the 2⬠price difference
Hey, I'm new to audio stuff, is it allowed to ask questions that are probably kinda obvious for others?
thats where wavpack can come in handy š 5channel mono then wavpack on max compression should reduce it to 1/4 or half the size, and its still playable as wavpack, you could do paq8 or zpaq but they thake ages and arent payable unfortunatly(tired to compress a 1mb file using paq8 at some point on max ssettings, and i quit the process after an hour or so nt expecting it to be that insane
You know what really saves space? Just using the DSD file
probably surprisingly not as hyped as most other hype products
sure it has balanced tone, but the mids were smooth and resolving
and they had a little bit of stage
bass was still kinda soft and loose though
what sub 30 wireless IEM is better?
