4:3 is only good if it's a big ol monitor like 3 inches from your face
where do you live
in ur walls
i dont have any
damn mb
Isn‘t this audio tech?
hello peeps
which one is better to use as audio software, elgato wavelink or steelseries's sonar?
like in term beginner friendly, overall mastery?
I don't use either, but I've heard better things about Elgato
okay, what's your suggestions?
guys can someone help me pls
My audio keeps cutting out while playing (not in every game) I updated drivers and everything, reset the device, re-paired the headphones but nothing helped
Use in wired mode as a workaround?
Need new mic setup what would y'all recommend for gaming with some buddies and light streaming/YouTube for around $200
I like the Razer Seiren Pro, but there are probably better options if you have $200 to spend
The v3 chroma is somewhat better, and it costs 120 bucks
It’s alright, though some are likely better for the price. It does have plenty of quality for your use case, so I would just get it or something with similar audio quality and save your money
Why do you think the V3 Chroma is better than the V2 Pro?
I know I didn't specify the V2 pro
V3 has condenser capsule while the v2 has dynamic capsule
Ah I was not aware of that
Do you think it would be worth upgrading from a V2 Pro to the V3 Chroma?
Probably not, but it feels like Razer is overdue for a new Seiren
I wouldn’t
fifine t669
waste of money
also waste of money to spend 120$ on a usb mic
you can get an xlr setup for that much
I'm not a professional mic user, idek what XLR is
So if the Chroma isn't worth it I'll keep what I have
do you have a reason to upgrade
Not really, I just like my friends to be able to hear me well in discord calls
can they not do that with the v2 pro?
It sounds okay, but nothing compared to what I hear streamers have
streamers don't sound good because they own exceptional mics
they just know how to configure them and use them well
sm7b which is the most popular streaming microphone is something that you can compete with using 20$ xlr mics
this isn't an issue or a situation you can change by throwing money at it, you will have to improve your mic technique, adjust noise gate, eq and improve dictation
Yeah I tend to mumble a lot
imo it sounds overtly warm but nothing aside from that
I guess a mic can't fix that
Use a compressor
Do you have any recommendations? Can I even use one with a USB mic lol
its software
Mmm... I don't think audio is my forte
Obs has it.
How can i fix this?
Try super glue.

Aight coolermaster what y'all doing? XD
Oooof
Anybody got recc on IEMs that are a step up from the truthear Hexas
Limit of $200
wait for the Crinears Reference
(hoping its under 200)
(its definitely under 300)
or if u want an iem rn, magicone
The wh
Project meta? At $250
its definitely under 300
dont know the final price yet
it could be under 200
Oo
also meta sold out
so 🤷♂️
Reference will also be limited
Oh
otherwise if u dont want to wait, Aful magicone
though its bass is more focused on the midbass
compared to hexa
How do they compare in sound quality though? That’s what I like a lot being able to hear even the small details of moving between strings on instruments
Reference is just overall better than hexa as well as magicone
magicone is better than hexa too
both also have better bass response than hexa
Rip
sometime this year
meta released yesterday
and sold out in 40 minutes(500 units)
today it sold out in 25 minutes(499 units)
DAMN
they might make reference, meta and daybreak a permanent release but it prob wont be this year and prices will be higher
:(
Idk I’ll prolly just pick up those magic ones
I don’t like constantly checking for a release date
ye and then they get sold out 😭 when u click on the site
try the magicones with the stock tips first
hey all, me again
Picked up the pair of rokit 7s and they're pretty great so far!
One issue; while I have them connected to my interface, with the interface connected to my laptop, there's very little hiss, honestly barely noticable.
When I connect the interface to any of the usb ports on my desktop, there's a very noticable inconsistant humming noise. I also noticed the noise changes when, for exmaple, alt tabbing on my keyboard.
Any clue? Was going to order some better xlr cables, since my current 6.3mm jacks aren't balanced cables. It's odd to me as they sound perfect on my laptop, but not on my desktop.
USB noise is hard to fix.
Something like the jds labs synapse but it might not be able to deliver enough power to your interface
If your interface can be powered by an external power supply then it won't be an issue
It can't, it has a singular usb-c for both power and signal
are u talking about tennis rackets or beyerdynamics?
if ur talking about beyerdynamics, I would recommend hd560s over them
or hd6xx(if ur in the US)
are the hd6xx's typically available at brick and mortar stores or is it a drop exclusive
drop exclusive, if u want to know what a hd6xx sounds like, demo a hd650
6xx is a repainted hd650
I will say the 880/990 and even the hd560s are difficult for me to try and mix on
I'd still take 990 250r over modern hd560s though. that extra instrument separation is important
hd6xx has dynamics appropriate for headphone mixing
so does the mackie mc450, which is similar to an upgraded dt990 with less bass volume
I produce/mix edm and trance-esque stuff
occasionally
Can anyone recommend some affordable, but decent quality desktop speakers?
Smaller bookshelf speakers would be nice
Preferably USB or 3.5mm Jack. I don’t have a DAC or AMP or anything like that
whats not to hate?
this isn't how burden of proof works bro 😭
substantiate your opinion
my first kz dq6 was such a sweetheart until the glue freaking melted 6 months in
been a fiio/kinera guy since then
*disclaimer: did get dq6s just to hear the difference, the qc on this one is better ish, been 4 months now so lets see
at least truthear can tune iems
edifier maybe?
but their desktop speakers (at least a good one) isnt that cheap either
*mostly because they added a 35w gan charger on it and rgb lights
I don’t necessarily need em to be cheap, just a good value
jbl 305p
Adam audio t5v/t7v
You would need an xlr to 3.5
@warm silo d3v is the latest hotness
how affortable
its rubbish
how come
interesting
Id rather u get the 3.8 usd dollar wan'er(with welcome deal)
though the build isnt the best
I'm assuming ur in the US
nope
where are u
romania
yknow how aliexpress has that coin system
yeah apparently that reduced the price by 66%
so i might just order the KZ for the fun of it, get introduced into the world of IEMs, and if its not half bad ill maybe decide to shell out more
but why
its absolute shit
wan'er is decent
and 5x the price
and then i gotta make another account?
yes
Loud incorrect buzzer noise 👎
gotta abuse the welcome deals
?
which store is that
if shipping is free ill buy them
wait a sec im making an acc
says 37
is that from moonHifi
yes
very strange
yknow what
@tawdry gale if theyre that good, ill invest
it says $3.80 in the payment page
weird
its def better than anything kz made
ill hold you accountable if theyre bad
the moment i switch to romania its back to $8
strange
they racist
yeah
free shipping but increase the cost
bit scummy but whatever, im sure they will be better than any earbud at this price
fair
oh the horror
in fragileness
yeah theyre dead
just dont drop any iems
yknow i know its not the same thing at all but what i loved about my cloud 2s is that i dropped them 50 times and theyre barely scratched

as to what to do to not to kill ur iems
Get Truthear Gate imo
I prefer it over Wan'er, plus has a really good stock cable for an iem under 100 bucks
someone convinced me of smth else already
Wan'er 2 is also releasing soon
Comes with seemingly decent cable and tang sancai eartips
ok yeah thats way more expensive nuh uh
these are tonally the second worst earbuds I have ever used
I've used stuff from dollar store that's more resolving as-is because there isnt an impact crater in the treble
which ones
tangzu wa'ner s.g
provably any arbitrary kz product is going to sound like an estat vs k361 or something unless I do 12db of surgical eq
terrible
its actually not worth lisyening to sound if it has to come through them
Jackson is an interesting type
I tend to ignore him
I probably get less treble on these than most people
why is it that you push tonality all the time, then the one time I actually complain about tonality you're against it
You somehow justify a DT990 citing its instrument separation meanwhile it being one of the most sibilant headphones I've ever listened to
it's not even especially resolving
in the context of modern hd560s, yes its slightly more resolving
and it is sibilant
you then go on and say ZS10 Pros are resolving or smth
go on with something something microdetail
you're listening to treble peaks from shit tuning and calling it detail
the thing has a bass shelf that doesn't just bleed into the mids it just swallows it
and you're out here justifying tonal performance of a ZS10 Pro
I dont judge most techs based on tone. I verify that eq doesnt create changes
Wait are my HD560S’s suddenly bad now lmao
because EQ can't fix treble the same way it can with mids and bass
bad in total is a subjective thing so no. but which version do you have (modern vs pre winter 2023) and did you buy replacement earpads
so u cant hear treble
ic
I dont actually dislike the various properties of the wa'ner
I do agree that it has grainy mids
but its 8 dollars
they just cant be observed by me without serious eq
consequences (of eq) will never be the same
the zero 2's are pretty cool
they're darker than most with the light blue eartips, but the mids are spot on
have u tried hola
@lean grove I got a Mojo 2 lol
its more detailed than my zen dac signature v2
also fixes the dry sound the sus had
but its a touch too warm/distorted
👽
warm gud
i totally havent dropped my iems on my wood desk a dozen or so times
lmao might as well just pickup kz pr2 and hope for the best
$3???
yeah
i bought a goodwill amp today and it ended up having 110w and uh it feels noticeably more powerful than my 20w technics im happy
I am NOT taking the front panel off again
I am not looking forward to replacing 200 caps
What do we think of dpl2
what kind of microphone jack is this?
i can plug it to pc and receive sound, but since it's mono i can't plug all the way in (otherwise it'd short circuit and essentially unable to receive signal until i pull out partially)
What's on the other end of that cable? Take a photo of it if you need to. Try to capture any markings / brandings / logos that might be on the item.
Ah, righto. Likely meant to go with a semi-proprietary AV solution. Motorola used to use the same connector for their radios / walkie-talkies.
so it's either walkie talkie mic or recorder mic, right?
Or a mic meant for a proprietary / custom conference room phone system.
so if there's no adapter option, with a bit of soldering skill i can make a functional adapter with working switch, right?
cuz i do know that the 2.5mm jack is meant to be used to operate the switch rather than transmit audio
Sure, I mean, each pin is likely just Ground and Signal.
a weird fucking one wtf am i looking at
why would they combine 2.5 and 3.5 😭
fiio ft1 milling test ft. mel gibson
milling?
uh
what do you hope to achieve
You would need a very big pepper mill to fit them in, might I suggest a blender instead? They tend to come in more headphone friendly sizes.
which agency pays you
Anyone know some good headphone reviewers? I’m trying to find information on the audio technica r50x’s but can’t find much
Yo, so i currently have 6~ year old beteron HD1000s and i think its finally time for a upgrade, i dont want to overspend but i also dont want bad quality, honestly the hd1000 sound pretty good so anything will probably be better, ive been looking at sennheiser, especially the HD 400s but ive noticed afew bad reviews about quality but since they are on sale for 50€ from there normal 70 i think they will be perfect, but if anyone knows anything about the hd400s and stuff or good simmilary priced sennheiser preferably then feel free to tell me
yeah if it says senhizer on it I wouldn't buy it tbh
sennheisers* my bad Lmao i butchered that real bad
using the truthear reds without a cable as earplugs while vacuuming
Is this a good cheap mic? I have a Scarlett Solo 4th Gen so was looking for a USB/XLR mic:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/fifine-xlr-usb-dynamic-microphone-rgb-lighting-broadcast-quality-sound-for-streaming-gaming/6601911.p?skuId=6601911
What low profile mic arm would y'all recommend that's not overly expensive
Hifiguides is a good source for audio gear such as headphones and speakers
you're on the right track if you see a review that isn't pounding on frequency response the whole time
but I do have an r50x and lots of headphones to compare it to. anything you wanted to know?
wich mic
how can i equalize my iems on my laptop and are there some website or place i can find pre existing templates
do u have eq software
also we would recommend eqing by ear, or just matching parts of ur iem graph to a certain target u like on squiglink
an audio interface
a cheap one would do
Ultra-affordable, surprisingly powerful, and small enough to fit in your pocket, AudioBox GO™ gives you all the connections you need to record on the move or in your home studio. Whether you’re recording a guitar riff at rehearsal or a full-length solo album in your bedroom, you’ll have all the tools you need to create
not to say this is a recommendation, only an example*
Audio interface
How is the stereo imaging and are they really bright?
This interface performs like complete ass lmao
thank goodness you clarified example not recc
I got a beringer umc404hd for some years now, it's not that expensive and it's performces good
4 ins and 4 outs is more than what the average Joe needs but it works well for what I'm doing
Hey does someone have some recommendations for not so expensive balanced audio cables that fit the FIIO JT1 bc my cabel is too short for my preference and and I'm generally too confused xD
pretty decent
solder one yourself
its easy to do, saves money, saves time and lifelong skill
gotta save my butt before getting attacked
i see ur point but i would need to invest time and energy into it and research etc. and idk even know where to begin. So easier to just buy but i also dont want to spend a lot on it yk
the thing is you wouldn't you are completely overestimating it
you google: 4.4mm jack/connector, headphone wire, 4.4mm balanced soldering diagram, solder, soldering iron, soldering paste
and watch a 10 minute yt tutorial
get a wire sleeve if you want it to look pretty, that's pretty much it
I've extended the life of mu headphones that way
Had it since 2016, now has a ¼inch jack and wire to match.
I need help. Im looking at getting an eGPU for my laptop. Do i need thunderbolt for that?
Okay then let me order some some stuff for my soldering iron
oh wait sorry im new didnt realize i was in audio tech lmao
remember to cover its tip in solder after you are done to prevent corrosion and to replace the tip if its already corroded
or like use one of the yt tutorials to clean the tip of the iron
Okay 👍🏽
I am lookign to get a new set of audiophile headphones (wired) for some mastering im doing. What do yall recommend?
lmao
the imaging is very precise and spherical, amongst stuff like dt990, mc450, hd560s, pc38x etc.
good vertical and rearwards imaging too, for my ears at least
I dont hear these as bright at all, just slightly mid forwards. but that could vary between people
How big of budget
Closed or open
closed. My sister hates when she can hear my music
Audio technica m40x and M50X are pretty decent
I have the audio technica ws770is for years now, but the ws1100i is really good as well
Sennheiser HD280pro are also a good choice
that's sounds nice tbh, are they as bright as the 990s or brighter? i find the 990s a little straining if i dont use them for awhile
way darker than dt990
like not even comparable
I would be inclined to eq the treble upwards slightly if I were to make settings for gaming
they measure with way less mids than I hear on my rig though
fiio ft1
I dont think you can buy a mastering headphone for that kind of money
what roles in mastering would you like it to fill?
the ft1 (60mm dynamic driver yes everyone stfu) may be an okay reference for planars, which few people are using
but its not a normal headphone nor a resolving one
Started looking into impulse category on rew and now I feel like I've been using rew wrong this whole time
It's such a useful tool
Does anyone know what this oily looking liquid coming out of my tweeter could be?
if i had to guess it would be glue, someone spilled something on it, or maybe ferrofluid might be leaking if the tweeter uses ferrofluid
but otherwise idk
That looks like it's been painted over. Likely was part of the manufacturing process.
Ah, okay
I'm looking for decent open ear buds, the 2 choices I have are the honor choice open ear buds or the sound core c30i
Which should I get? And will the honor one interfer with my glasses
I have tv speakers, mediocre old ones. I have 2 laptop speakers also probably mediocre. Can i cut wires before the pins on laptop speakers and connect these wires to the wire of the tv speakers? Note they are both 4 pins and same color wires, so that just made sense to me
Im doing a diy all in one laptop thats why im asking
You can, would it sound good, probably not, would it damage the laptop speakers, probably.
Give it a shot
I can always rewire laptop speakers cant i?
Why would they get damaged
Hmmm tv speakers are 10w each
Laptop's dont say, but they old ones from a lenovo laptop,
Give it a try and see how it goes
I'm currently in the process of designing a 3 way active studio monitor
Well 4 way if you include the weird things I'm gonna do with the subs
Audio gear is very confusing to me, i should gain more knowledge
Whats the difference between a speaker and subwoofer
I have a presonus studio speakers so its pretty straight forward
They're all speakers, it all comes down to what frequency range they work at best, subwoofers handle sub frequencies known as bass
They actually make tiny little buzzings, they were worse. Its most likely an audio jack port or wire input
Buzzing can be a faulty cable connection, well that's the most common problem
Yes that makes sense, these are the bigger driver on a single speaker i presume?
Indeed
Although it's recommended to have each driver in its own enclosed, not good to have the subwoofer and mid range woofer in the same enclosure.
And the smaller superior one's are what exactly?
Well maybe on higher end setups i guess, mine are presonus studio e3.5 i think
They sound really good
So from the top, the small ones are most likely tweeter, they cover the high frequencies known as treble
Most speakers you'll see are 2 way, meaning they have 2 drivers, a tweeter and a woofer
So, in my design, and also in pro audio speakers like PDP Mum, barefoot audio, and other 3 way speakers, there would be a tweeter, a mid range woofer, and a bass mid woofer
I took that concept and slapped 2 8" subwoofers at the back
Lol, that adds up to how many speakers now...?
You'll have to make the same thing to both channels
Yup
4 + 4?
5 +5
Wow
2 subs,
1 bass mid
1 mid
1 tweeter
2 subs yes
Do you buy these specifically or do you partake in fine tuning or something
Should be illegal sir
The first one is always for me
Wheres that

While we're at it, i have this board im trying to power but don't have a 4 mm dc barrel, how do i power with wires
Sketchy is fine, i just want someplace reachable
I know polarity of the middle pin and what not of a port, but its impossible to maneuver
Would not recommend 😕
Need someplace out in the open on the board
what mic should i get for recoring youtube videos ?
Whats your budget?
u got back to me yet
One sec
take your time
Razer Seiren X Podcast Microphone
60 bucks mac
Awesome
It it was XLR and you had an interface, it'll be easier to recommend something
its 50 bucks and comes with boom arm and mc
Pain

they probably have different resistances which may create unwanted issues but I don't recommend it either way
adding extra speakers arbitrarily generally harms the audio quality
it will work and yes you can wire them in serial or parallel but you wont accomplush much aside from phasing issues
t669
THATS the one i chose
Wym? Like just putting your laptop speakers in parallel with your TV speaker?
He could just add a series resistor to thee laptop speaker to limit current through the speaker, but like it's still gonna sound terrible
Yeah
They're all cut off now dw
Shit still cooked 💔
Should be even smh
headphones with good mic under $60?
Ive recently gotten my hands on a few vinyl records. What are a few good starter record players?
My guess is either an intermittent connection or jitter if its processing digital data rn

Ounded by Dr.Fang bean in 2007, HIFIMAN is widely regarded as one of the leading manufacturers of high performance headphones and portable audio products. HIFIMAN is especially known for its critically-acclaimed planar-magnetic headphones that feature state-of-the-art driver technology. The compa...
I currently have the hifiman sundara, I had tried it with a dac and didn't notice a difference from my motu m2 even a cheap Behringer interface
I stuck with my Motu m2 but now since I am upgrading I thiunk I might need some new audio gear for these headphones.
focal bathys mg
its nice
but arya organics are afaik better
you should also get an amplifier
headphones with good mic under $60?
i need to stop poorcoping and just buy some nice speakers for my desk setup
i use the built in speakers of my lg c4 42 inch 95% of the time that im at my desk
The new Adam d3v's look pretty good.
if their measurements are accurate then those seem like really good value
how are they getting +-2dB from 50-20,000Hz in a pair of tiny $300 monitors
Shit ton of DSP, decent waveguide, and passive radiators I think.
Compression data shows that they are pretty limited in terms of volume
they have some larger monitors that are still pretty affordable
like an 8" for $300/ea
i wonder how these measure
measurements are not what make adams powerful monitors
back into your schizo cave jackson
Michael is definitely the most unqualified person to make his own purchasing decisions
seems like their T#V line isnt as impressive
thats disappointing because theyre pretty well priced
nevermind
Yeah they seem cool but they're double the price
well there is a reason
if you are on budget go for the edition xs instead and get an amplifier alongside it
unless you can't afford one alongside aryas
I already have the hifiman sundara I'm trying to go for a proper upgrade so I'd get the hifiman arya and an amp
ok
I mean edition xs is already a hube leap over sundaras
most things are
but if you can afford aryas and an amplifier id definitely recommend that over the xs
I can spend $600 on headphones but $1000 on headphones like the arya organic just seems excessive. I mainly listen to metal and rock lmao
I'm probably going to only get an amp, I had used a zen dac for my sundara and didn't notice a difference from the motu m2.
Just go vintage tbh
Best strat
What do you mean?
Like vintage audio
Imo audio is a hobby that shifted to marketing and away from engineering after the 70-80s maybe 90s
Kinda like how motherboards are now
Tbh, almost like GPUs now lol
buy chi-fi iems :gigachad:
I love the Bang and Olufsen stuff
I would not endorse the edition xs for rock and metal
at least not with my preferences anyways
it's not resolving, timbre's really weird, and snares/transients will have very little impact

Looking to upgrade my audio setup for streaming and discord/gaming with the buddies what budget interface/mixer would y'all recommend not trying to spend a fortune
um2
um2
What about id I'm looking for more of a mixer
real
Don't want something crazy expensive liked the idea of the goxlr but that's dead/dying i think unless they survived that also it's like $500
Total noob with speakers so can someone explain what these speakers are, whether they're active or passive and if they'll somehow work with my UMC202HD audio interface? I keep seeing speakers with what looks like stripped wires and I don't get it can someone help me out please
motu m2
Thanks for the suggestion think ATM I'm looking for more a mixer for streaming/discord with buddies
um2
Those are passive speakers
You'll need an amp to go between the interface and the speakers
Ik 3 people who would actually buy this
so what i need is an amp? I honestly thought my interface would be an amp since it has a volume knob xd
is there a good REALLY REALLY cheap amp? because those speakers are £15 for the pair and mine are currently 'game brand' gamer speakers
and dont do good sound
this looks like an amp, but like where do these stripped wire things go? there are 2 per speaker
and this is my audio interface at the back o_o
Fosi has some decent cheap amps
Fosi Audio V1.0G mini stereo amplifier includes highly efficient, fully integrated, digital, class D audio amplifier ICs based on NEW amplifier technology, supporting a supply voltage range from 12 V to 24 V, allowing it to be used across home and professional audio applications. V1.0G 2-channel ...
This one's on sale
wait i'm sorry, i'm really confused now. the amps that i'm seeing from fosi have pretty much the exact same IO as what i've got, why do i need an amp if I have this kind of stuff on my audio interface? and i still dont understand what to do with the stripped wires, is there something i get an adapter with??
The wires go into the binding posts on speaker amps
..binding posts??
why are they not attatched????
so if i get these speakers, i'd have to buy an amp AND binding posts?
so should i just look for active speakers instead? that sounds like i wouldn't need those things to sort my issue
No the binding posts are part of the amplifier
Wait, pause, what are you looking for exactly
i'm looking for speakers that will plug into my audio interface
i dont need perfect audiophile audio
but i'm currently using a 3.5mm headphone jack + usb for gamer speakers and they are shite
it even has a seperate volume wheel which is really annoying and just in the way
Yeah just get actives then
actives will plug into my wall and i'll have what, 1/4 inch jacks to go directly into the audio interface to make it simple?
or am i missing something that i've not been informed of
Inputs will vary speaker to speaker but pretty much yes
something on amazon i've just found for the price of the fosi amp btw.. why are there so many ports??? whats the bottom ones and why are there 4 input output things
why are speakers so complicated
my parents bought them for me don't ask
https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=0805-AAR audio interface
i've got DT 990 pro 250ohms for headphones but i want speakers along with it
plus i'm running low on usb ports
For your interface, it'll be best to get an active speaker
why are you oh godding me T_T what's wrong
Less hassle tbh
okay so active is what i'm after, good to know good to know. but is there like a REALLY cheap and not super stupid brand? these speakers are so bad that its either OFF or too loud there is no quiet
What's your budget
preferably less than £50
i'm happy to use https://uk.webuy.com/ for 2nd hand stuff
i love getting 2nd hand tech from them
With that budget, it'll be best to get an inexpensive amp and passive speaker like what you posted here
mama mia i can't'a win
am i able to use like a really dodgy fire hazard for an amp?
There's supposed to be some information on the back of these
Can you show me
These
cause the one i found for £15 is Sony SS-CEH15 if thats anything worth it. eBay says £17
ah yeah thats ^
Model number is good, brb
okie dokes
So to confirm, you have the beringer UMC202
hd version 😎
but yeah
google says it's a 4ohm speaker which makes me think wow this can run on a battery why would it need an amp, right??
huh
so you have more inputs? i mean that's pretty cool don't get me wrong but i'd only need 2 mics me thinks
i would just love to use my speaker ports of the audio interface and free up a 3.5mm jack and usb
give me more USB DAMNIT
so what does my a AI and speakers i've found tell you
is there any stupidly cheap workaround for an amp?
🤨
well the one you recommended was like 50 alone
and would this be able to plug into my AI?
Don't hold me to the quality of this would
Yes, with the right cable
@_@ i hate this situation, i just wanted an xlr mic and now i'm here
i get that 100% i would just like to have nice NON usb speakers and be able to control their volume using what i've already got on the AI making it all seamless with 1 thing
Then go for active speakers, but that's a tad bit more expensive
i think i'll have to go with that :,D but thanks for the help
crypto to the moon lookin ass gif

I'm not looking at the edition xs, i'm looking at the arya stealth
What are good speakers for a theater room budget 1000 to 2000 for a tv the best for the prise I don't know the difference between all the numbers
haven't tried that one, but in theory / from what I've heard from others, it will have the same sort of issues
it's a consequence of stereotypical planar behavior. when you have all the sounds pushed to a similar volume playing field (including the volume changes for a single instrument), there is no contrast
So I guess it's just hifiman sound in general. I do notice the sundaras to sound way worse than my airpoid pros when it came o metal even though they aren't comparable. The sundaras are great in other genres however. I'm not going to exclusively be listening to metal on these headphones as I mostly use my airpods for that anyways.
The Arya stealth would be for movies, low bpm music, and gaming.
I'm worried about the gaming part, but if it's like the XS and he400se then it'll work alright most of the time
just don't main apex or something
I ditched competitive games
only one I still play at times is marvel rivals but I don't game at a high rank only at Grandmaster 1 It's as casual a shooter can get
I'll still have my sundaras if the arya is awful in gaming
I think the nature of that game makes direction of sounds a lot less important lol
if they're not good I will just go back to sennheiser and get the hd490
I do like the XS for story games or open world and such
they really throw reverbs and make all sorts of sounds swirl around me
same for movies
also it's not that these planars can't image, they can provide the most vivid placement in binaural audio experiences I've heard
it's just finnicky and can be reversed or portray a different angle depending on the exact sound
The arya can work well with any genre but honestly sucks in genres with heavy compression. Pop and hip hop usually use heavy amounts of compression and most of them are badly produced.
The arya would excel in classical music
Seems like you even noticed with your airpods and your sundaras how bad planars sound with rock and metal. I would honestly get the hd490 pro, cheaper and sennheiser 490 pros can work with anything.
but aren't those supposed to be less resolving than an hd600?
I cannot stand my hd560s in some rock music and definitely not metal. the garbled mess, smeariness, and severe loss of clarity is irritating and I'd rather not listen to music if it sounds that way
on the other hand,
cap
the neumann ndh20, which at the very least we know the ndh30 is based on the hd560s diaphragms, is an impenetrable fortress for resolving through any amount of sounds you throw at it
@hearty vine get aryas you are doing the correct thing
I've sat there listening to very busy classical and traced out 18 different instrument's melodies
get a zen can to drive them as well
you have a month to decide if you want to return them or not
its that easy
metal is mixed like ass
more you scale your gear worse it sounds
yes sometimes
but a lot of this compression stuff imo is more related to a planar trying to make out the details of everything pushed to a similar volume
jackson is wrong
this is cap
that creates a mix listening disadvantage that isn't part of the actual mix
bro still believes in muh planar dynamics in 2025
zero actual tests backing this up
link it to whatever you want but planar dynamic range has been a cope day 1
there are zero tests proving that edition xs has the dynamics of an hd600 either
this has always been a stalemate situation in audio
the only route available is human testing, which we get in a disorganized form known as firsthand experience from audiophiles
there's also firsthand experience from music producers, which are much more like audiophiles than they usually imagine
Because there cant be
binge actually tested them in ief
said there was a max deviation of 2db between the headphones he tested
and 0.2 on average
planars, estats, dynamics were among his samples
its pure cope
link it to something not entirely speculative if you want to say planars dont do metal well
something you can actually back up and is an actual metric of performance measurement
you got filtered
I win
bot is with me
I leave
you are wrong btw
@lean grove will continue to argue with you in my stead
well I'll say this: it's perceptually strange and not quite like compression or eq when it happens
but the hd600 hits harder for me at 80hz than the edition xs does in jack wall - s***ide mission, particularly with the cinematic drums
and the xs brings the other quieter sounds way closer together
so I would estimate that 80hz on the cinematic drums feels 7db extra on the hd600, or about 5 higher relative to the xs
I know what you need
but that's a very dangerous thing to slap numbers on
look on the compression on that thing
meme archeology
its gotta be at least 10 years old
What size Tv are you looking at
I've owned sundaras and arya non stealth they still sound amazing for metal but my hd600s were better. In everything else the aryas were way better
Depends on the subgenre of metal
hey guys im new here, i have a question, i want good wireless earphones and i want them cheap since im from egypt and still in egypt i have a budget of 1030 egp, can someone help me? if you can DM me
A little tougher now that the conversation rate is all wack, I remember when it was 15 egp to 1 usd
Redragon H270 Mentro is 988 EGP on Amazon
Anker Soundcore ear buds are a good pick as well
holy shit
@lean grove
i cant find jvc guy
he may have meft
this is fucking tragic
Pretty sure he changed his name
Holy shit I forgot I was still even in this server lmfao
I used to be back in the day. Like the 50s or something
Wow
aany suggestions on what amp to pair my DT990Pros with for R6S
Topping A30 pro
Or any of the topping dac amps, they're awesome

A topping would increase ur chances of dt770 giving u tinnitus
Smsl is in the similar ballpark as topping
What would you recommend
SMSL and topping have some decent and affordable headphone amps
another pair of headphones
Hence the recommendation
someone who owns a dt990 doesn't need an amplifier
apple dongle, it doesnt scale
maybe a tube amplifier if you really tried to stretch it
only amplifier id see use being paired with a dt990
even then it would be stupid to pay for a 500$ amp to listen to your 120$ headphones
Drop names
bottlehead crack
Well, the DL200 from SMSL is under 200 USD
yeah and it sounds the same as a 9$ dongle on the dt990
tube amps actually change the sound radically
It increases ur chances of tinnitus
With dt770
Compared to apple dong
Well, as a musician, I wouldn't want my amp to change the sound, unless it's intentional
So a transparent amp is best
Smsl and topping makes things brighter
you can get that for 100$
FII0 has some affordable stuff as well
but there is no data that says neutral sound is natural sound
you live in a distorted echo chamber 24/7 of your life
you shouldn't buy an amplifier based on how many zeroes it has on the thd meter but rather if you enjoy the sound or not
Well, I do music production
as a music producer your literal last concern it the audio chain
From my experience, dt770 is good for people with hearing loss or above the age of 50
I am studying sound engineering and most sound engineers of the industry dont even check the chips of the shit they buy
they buy for features and drivers
does the interface have 10 xlr inputs or 15
do they sound notably shit or not
they spend their time being concerned with unnatural sound when it comes to their acoustics, speakers and headphones
I'm not overly concerned with what's what, but I still want a somewhat accurate representation of what I'm making
it is a somewhat accurate representation of what you are making
Since I do everything from production to mixing and mastering
yes thats also what sound engineers typically do
an amplifier can change sound but provided it isn't a tube amplifier or something with 500 wacky filters
I'm aware
Speakers
you could get 50 dudes in a room with untrained ears
and they wouldn't be able to tell 1 amplifier from another
it does change sound but it isn't as drastic as you make it out to be
and again there is zero proof that your transparent sound is what sounds natural to you or your listeners nor is there proof they will have the same chip
you shouldn't be concerned about such marginal differnces in chain while a headphone, speaker or the room treatment can change the outcome hundreds of times more
True
A room has a lot of say on how your speakers sound
But that's just a percentage of the chain
room is more important than your speakers tbh
cant have good sound with good speakers in a bad room
but you can have vice versa
Agreed
I've been in some studios with shit speakers, but a well treated room, but there's also a line, as how bad a speaker can be in a well treated room
yeah of course
I'm in the R&D phase of developing some speakers
godspeed
not the way I use them.
Also, Present Day Production has made their Pro Studio monitors. Some pretty cool sht tbh
who
🚨LOW QUALITY SPEAKER ALERT🚨
damn they use purifi drivers
the paper ones yeah
but the new ones use aluminum so they might be a bit chewy
as a turkish man in his late thirties you're no stranger to eating sheet metal so you should be fine
They're definitely not low quality my dude
i just lick the boulders in the coast to build up minerals
only low quality speakers use the most advanced woofers on the market
no need for food
its like cheating
Buchardt use them as well
all the work has been done for you.
They have their problems as well
a real master will use paper tweeters, low quality car subwoofers, and a tweeter stolen from a mcdonalds toy
reminds me i should make a shit ass subwoofer with a car subwoofer
might be. but the purify ones are really quite special.

is it because they rot in mild climate
its because they have a really precise surround material so the force the speaker feels as it extends through its stroke remains as constant as possible
It's to reduce distortion
what does this establish
So basically they pre distort the speaker to reduce it
better dynamics. no compression. lower distortion. able to hit stupid amounts of bass without impacting the midrange
I can't afford them though, so I'm going basic Daytok Audio drivers for my first set of "studio monitors "
very smoothened graph
Dayton audio
id take this
soulless
soul
no
poor 🫵
there is a fucking revolution in my country nils
yeah yeah dont brag about it 🙄
The SB acoustic tweeter is my dream tweeter tbh
Love how it looks and perform
As a woodworker as well, they look pretty
which one
These
Simple and pretty
These are the goal
Up until someone makes a decent affordable cardiod speaker.
Of those are passives though
Looks good
I'm still in the design phase of my 3 ways speakers. Well 4 way with the built in subs
It's kinda stupid but worth the challenge
Whatcha got so far
Does anyone know of a subwoofer that can play very low at a good volume?
Hoping for 20Hz at no more than +/- 3dB
OSD 15
That looks good
Yeah, I forgot OSD has some pretty badass subs for a good price
They went up a bit from what I remembered
I wanna try this
Wow
I did find a local company that makes a 12" they claim makes 20Hz as well
It looks decent
My budget is £1,000 ~$1300
How big is your room, and what other speakers do you have
My front & surround speakers are Martin Audio Effect 5. Room is about 32 feet by 20 feet.
I'll probably still stick to my suggestion if the OSD 15 or even the OSD Triple 15
Treated?
Ight, go for the less expensive sub and put the rest into treatment
Okay
First and second reflection point and probably some clouds would do you good
I found some pretty cheap acoustic panels that I could reupholster to be black
They look decent inside
My receiver has room correction as well, but I'm not sure how good it is
If possible, try get them a few inches or a handful of centimeters off the wall
Alternatively, if possible to put on gobos, like free standing panel, so they can be easily moved around
I'd keep them in mind
Since my long-term goal is a cinema room, I could potentially cover the walls and ceilings in dense foam and fabric.
I'd say focus more on treating your space first. Put more of the budget in that
I'll do some research into the best practices
I have a habit of rushing into things and getting a bad outcome as a result, lol.
GIK acoustics has some good articles on treatment
I'm kinda the same
Their panels are pretty reasonably priced
Measure out your room and get a layout of where you wanna place your panels
GIKs website has a room builder thing
Try that out, you can model your room and try layouts
But a cloud does wonders for your listening position
These?
I think because my speakers project quite a lot, room treatment will help a great deal
Not really intended for nearfield use, but I'm doing it anyway
Good luck, I'll be happy for updates
on that we can agree
probably just a douk u3 or a powerful dongle like ka11
990 is not my favorite for r6s, but it's still pretty functional
I find that most earbud tips don't fit me. Are these likely to help?
yes
but they also change sound a bit
