I have 2 but I want 3 so I can have one to travel, and one at both houses
I like to try different things
Like my Kiwi Cadenzas look really nice and are cheap enough I'd be okay if I lost them outside
so I bring them around
but like aful explorer would be staying home
but they have a completely different sound signature
I would never buy two iems with the same tuning I'll say that much.
That's fair
like my last three
they sound completely different I'll just tell you that much
also I broke my zero reds
which triggered the purchase of the explorer
lmao
tragic
fr
but it is what it is
I enjoy new things too
plus my friends and family benefit
so it's a win win
I gave away a pair of gates just to realize I lowkey liked the gate
bought another as a backup pair
grr i hate seating position uh my bass is strongest when im farthest away from my speakers
gr i wish seating position wasnt real
wtf howd they break
got sat on, resin cracked
got lazy didn't try to fix
crack expanded
and rip
Rip
hh i got the positioning better and i also got it a nice eq and i think these are my new favorite speakers
theyre uh new large advents and id compare them against my kef 103.2s but i do think theyre better
at least they have deeper bass but i might be mistaken i gotta rerun my kefs some day
guys are the xiaomi redmi buds 6 good?
What audio interface and mic should I get for my upgrade?
I have an SSL 2 and a podmic but I think it’s time for an upgrade :3
I’ve used focusrite before and it was ok
Why are you upgrading an SSL2
podmic maybe - I personally don't like that mic
very well built, looks nice, sounds really harsh
I’ll probably buy a Beta 58A and a Universal Audio Volt 276
The reason being that I don’t wanna carry my heavy ass podmic anytime I travel so I’m gonna keep the podmic where I am with my ssl2 and I’ll just get new stuff for home in the United States
I’m thinking the 58A since the frequency response is nice and bright for vocal ranges and the universal audio should add warmth that’s nice for talking and chatting
Any reason for 276?
two channel for just a mic is a bit odd
but not a bad thing - the compressor on those things sound really good
I'd say SE V7 is a better option than the Beta 58a
I think it looks sexy as fuck
Eh it’s fine one day I’ll connect an instrument to them but that time is not now xD
Why Se V7? I’ve recorded with the shure before and I loved it, even with people who scream into the mic it still does really good in filtering out noise and out of an unruly voice was able to make some amazing recordings
oh if you've tried the 58A and liked it then by all means go for it
SE V7 in my opinion is a bit safer in turns of frequency response
but that's only if it's a semi-blind buy
otherwise 58A is a perfectly capable microphone
i know this is more of a software topic, but eh, best place i think
i do own spotify premium. but spotify does not have every song. is there a program that can mix spotify playlists with other playlists like youtube music or soundcloud? since those allow user uploads.
i prefer to benefit from spotify's audio quality if possible. but if push comes to shove i just legaly buy the audio files (not pirate ofc).
apple music has like the most songs out of any streaming service
tho dealing with making an apple account if you don't have an iphone is 💀
i hope my irony with plausible deniability came through
or to clarify, i do not intend to either buy single songs, albums, or additional subscriptions
Roon might be able to do something like that.
yt music library should be large enough to avoid needing multiple sources
i finally got speakers stands and they came with a pair of Infinitys but the stands are fire im happy :3
ok i might actually like the 7hz zero:2 more than the truthear reds
the 7hz is too closed but the bass is better, if it had less punch it would be perfect i think
maybe only for albums that have little bass
i raged yesterday and broke my headphones. anyone know good wireless headphones with ANC for gaming? budget = under 600$
seems similar to my experiences with them
the zero reds have more soundstage, which is unusual for iems in the first place
but the midrange is less realistic
the bass is authoritative and weighty while the zero 2 bass has more punch
wdym by less realistic
zero red has slightly recessed lowermids and midbass
so the mids can sound a bit thin
ah interesting
I need to play around with an eq program to see what the different frequency bands affect
eclipse HG10 is this good
no not that
more detailed, more dynamic, more timbrally correct
I just paid 10 dollars for 4 D batteries for a radio ill probably only use for 30 minutes, and i already have a wall adapter ordered from Amazon...
#TimbreWolf
direwolf20
i love minecraft
ive got a cloud alpha wireless but its so hard in games to listen to footseps, any way i can fix this?
like i hear footsteps from front but the enemy is behind me
Game problem most likely
which game
valorant
are you using surround
Does this happen in all games? (test more than one game to rule out a single game.)
Also... ensure you haven't put the headphones on backwards, as this would reverse audio that software attempts to make it sound like are coming from the left/right and front/back.
Cloud Alpha wireless has angled drivers
might not be tuned that well for it
that's acc why I would recc Cloud 2 and Alpha over the Alpha S bc the S have angled drivers
throws imaging off a little
i used dts but it doesnt really make it better
just better sounds without getting what i want
yeah i play mostly fps games
it also happens in cs
turn of dts first and see if it improves anything
could be that dts surround is funky
yes i tried
its still not good
i want to build a subwoofer that plays down to around 19hz, does anyone know how i calculate box and port size
Yeah a program called WinISd
Does the size of the subwoofer make much of an impact to how low it can play
Yes.
I was thinking about 12 inch but I might be able to fit slightly bigger
Just as low as possible really 19hz is a goal but I don't mind
You can get 19hz with something smaller but it won't be as loud or it will need a ton of power.
I will be buying a decent 12 inch subwoofer without a box
Okay I suggest you consider what to buy after you know what to build
Because buying the driver is gonna lock you into a build that you might not like.
I'm not sure if I want it in my car or room
If you put it in your car I will hunt you down
Why
People with intentionally noisy cars are the worst people in the world
Its not like I'm playing it full volume in a residential area
Every car audio guy says the same thing and yet they still build subs powerful enough that anyone within half a mile is going to hear it
Get a bass shaker
Can easily hit infrasonic frequencies at a fraction of the cost without annoying anyone
I don't want more than 500
Because you'll need the full force of a 110db bass cannon to enjoy your music and annoy everyone around you.
There is no compromise
Me me me
dude I hate sub so much
idk how people can possibly want that
even the stock sound system in my car is way too sub-bassy
i think it depends on what you buy
theres so much evil difference between home audio and car audio
car audio fellas will be like grr heres my setup im running 4000 watts and 12 subwoofers in my backseat and trunk but look it has bass
i have a bias
but still grr
i am gonna have to touch car audio one day once i have money to throw at my car
mine has knobs to control it and i can just throw everything i have at the factory subs but everything always comes out sharp and unclear no matter what so i think that ill partially overhaul stuff some say ill see
An armful of boys.
the bass works and the mids uh you wanna keep them all the way up since its the best chance its got at behind coherent
wb not boy headphones
I meant on my car I mean
mmhm mine has that though its evil
mines also probably older though so i feel like something in it went a little bad
also what car is gonna be the victim of the theoretical 12 inch sub
My DAC died. need advice on a new one. Got a Sennheiser HD600 and used to pair it with an iFi Audio ZEN DAC V2. Would like one that doesn't require external power if possible
not using external power kind of defeats the point no?
Is the Audient Evo 4 any good? Was thinking on getting it, the TMA-2 Wireless+, the Unit 4 Wireless+, and some dynamic mic.
the zen dac 2 was able to use only USB power
yeah and it has a very weak amplifier
also suspectable to electrical interference
so ifi can sell you their 150$ usb power purifier
alright, then let's drop the no external power requirement. any good recs for around 200?
a dac only?
surprisingly my HD600 worked fine on the zen DAC on just the USB power
so something that can at least drive the HD600 without also needing a separate amp
DAC/AMP combo or set
hd600 is very sensitive so most things can drive it
at that price honestly
zendac is pretty good
cant you rma it
how about the zendac 3? upgrade whilst i'm at it?
ive no idea how zendac 3 is
are Soundcore earbuds good quality? I'm thinking about Sport X20 and also Skullcandy Push Active
for running and daily use
all terrible
hmm are models from Jabra or Sony better?
whats ur budget
about 100 euros/dollars
TWS Recommendation List last updated on: March 13th, 2025 PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE LOOKING AT THE LIST (you ...
thanks i'll read through
i'll also throw in the Nothing Ear A in as well as a recommendation, both my parents have a pair and they love them, they both said they are the best quality they had so far (which is easy to beat, they only had trash spec 30 eur pairs before)
nothing ear A is not very good, bit wonky tuning, nothing ear (2024) is quite good though
What's everyone's fav sound card?
portable -> apple dongle
desktop -> schiit stack
I am currently running an AE-5 from 2018. Kinda wondering when a new chipset will come
this is the part that shows the author has no idea what he's doing
either that or he gave up trying to review these earbuds
there are lots of things about sound, a small one being sound signature, which is the easiest one to quantify
buying something based on the sound signature is still a 50/50 roll of the dice whether it sounds good or horrible to you
maybe 60/40 if it means you get to avoid something with zero bass
what does TWS in that context mean
true wireless stereo (normal bluetooth earbuds)
but yes, nobody should use this guide to make a purchasing decision
it's only useful for finding hyped products
if you further research such a product, you will have to dig through half a mile of bs like dufrane in shawshank redemption
to find any kind of truthful review not run by measurement fanatics or a clickbait youtuber
which is essentially every single one discussed online
taking words out of context is crazy
If you don't care about sound then get what looks good to you
that's not rocket science
the customer is always right in the matter of taste
Evo 4 is cheap for two XLR, but it's also built kinda meh and headphone amp is bad
Basically it's fine if you want that style over say, minifuse 2 or volt 276
just keep it away from any power cables
or cables in general to avoid interference
sound signature isn't "sound"
and not caring about sound signature doesn't mean you don't care about sound
that's precisely why what he wrote is idiotic at best
You can't separate sound signature from sound if you want to use sound as a criteria for ranking/recommendations
without a sound signature, sound is well... sound which means anything fulfills that criteria
as soon as you say "x sounds bad to me" or "I prefer x over y" then you've already established you have a preference in sound signature
nope
I don't really care about sound signature
eq and fr don't change most things about sound
oh really, that would explain some stuff
the harman study was never meant to determine what was preferable about a sound source
it was meant to determine what tonality is safest on average
there are several logical reasons why certain aspects of sound (like clarity or resolution) could be caused by frequency response in theory
but generally it isn't why things sound the way they sound
a really good example is the non-audiophile space getting 3rd party replacement earpads for their headphones or headsets
it can be demonstrated that a certain change of earpads for a certain headphone causes serious changes in tone
but most of the reviews will still have people saying the headphones sound the same
they've become familiar with the core behavior of the headphones, which usually remains the same with an earpad swap
hes not a reviewer
some people actually care more about aesthetics and also have no clue what they want
met a lot of people like that
and we tell them to eq to taste
Hey guys, which wireless earbuds should i get for around 50$. I'm currently looking at the cmf buds pro 2 but i see that many people are complaining so idk. I never tried ANC so that would be a priority. Also i have kinda small ears (Chu 2s fit me perfectly if that helps). I also use an android.
Moondrop has the space travels. they're like $20-$30
if you like the CHU's, the space travels would be a good fit
space travels are more comparable to the zero 2's probably
except bass
it has chu 2 bass
the purpose of a guide is to help people who haven't decided or don't know what they're doing
"eq to taste" is essentially "screw off, we won't help you" in a variety of ways
such as newcomers not knowing how to eq to taste
or getting a cs2 player stuck with a k361 because they imagine this eq they can't use will do something to make this unusable headphone work
or someone not looking to buy a headphone based on their favorite color being told to do exactly that
and,
yes, you found a written statement saying he doesn't know what he's doing
experience is not deferrable in place of orderless opinions within a discord server
and he felt like he had to do it anyway
it has pretty limp bass
I don't think I could confidently compare space travel to any sub 20$ decent iem in terms of performance
its really good for a tws but its really not that good compared to any wired iem
I have a bunch of music that I want to play from my phone (Pixel), and the default music player on-device doesn't seem to have any of the features that I'd expect/need (functional shuffle within a category/album, playing while device is sleeping, etc.). Is there a particular app you all would recommend or would any of the ones on the Play Store do? Also maybe relevant is that said music is mostly video game OSTs, in FLAC, but I also have them in mp3 if that's needed.
its paid but poweramp player
if you have like spotify or some other streaming service you could also load your music onto your phone with it
I don't, otherwise I'd probably just use that.
honestly this isn't really what you want but
id consider a youtube music subscription since they have a lot of OSTs in it
using flac for mobile listening is just kind of silly
unless you have issues with mobile data its the more convenient solution though I can understand not wanting a subscription service
The inconvenience in setting it up isn't a problem, and I can wire my phones to my headphones if I want better quality than what I can get wirelessly.
I think auxio might do that
you really wouldn't be able to hear anything flac provides over 320kbps mp3 in any environment that isn't your home
even at home unless you have trained ears you'd probably not hear a difference unless you do an abx test for 20 mins
Using mp3 isn't a problem, I was just pointing out that I also have the flac files.
well you mentioned quality thats why I brought up the subject
idk id say poweramp player is the best android local music player
but to anyone looking for convenience id recommend yt music or spotify
mostly the prior if you like listening to stuff not found easily
It's the same 10 or so game soundtracks for the most part.

probably as in you're making reccs without testing...?
I've used both, just not side by side
things in common are definitely the amount of stage (~8 inches), dynamic and relatively detailed midrange, instrument separation hit around the $50 mark, microdetail / quiet sound pickup was medium
zero 2 bass was definitely tighter and more defined
I'm looking to upcycle some stereo speakers from an LG FB163 system. I want to hook them up to a TV for movies and gaming and for music. I found the Arylic B50 and the SMSL A50 Pro and those are the only options that have HDMI ARC. Does anyone have a similar setup and do you have any other recommendations or issues?
Hello guys I have a problem that i cant seem to fix, i have tried to reinstall shazam chrome extension, change sound outputs, reinstall audio drivers and update them in the dev tools of shazam it shows whats in the screenshot. Idk how to fix it but its really usefull for me
nvm nova is just straight up better
i think ill just order a second pair of novas and try to be more gentle with them
found a pair for $85
sheesh nice
Hope they don't die in 3 months
Ye and zero blue 2 only sounds ok with foam
Foam tips are terrible
yeah me too lol
my last novas fell apart
it pisses me off because they sound incredible
and are very accepting of eq
So, which should i get? I value anc
since I want to pretend covid didn't happen could anyone point me to a decent webcam and microphone combo for zoom calls? A distant family member wants to be able to set up their pc at the home office so his whole family can "Skype" the rest of his side of their family. So likely a mic that's suitable for 3-4 ppl to be able to talk Infront of the computer, but not pick up the audio from their speakers causing a feedback loop
How much do you want to spend.
Great question. Not too sure myself what they want. If my understanding is correct. I'm helping my cousin, so him and his wife is the grandpa and grandma, likely they are going to sit down in front of the computer together to talk with their daughter and her husband and their kids.
Since they're pretty tech illiterate, it has to be pretty user friendly
So not more then a couple of hundred bucks each. Preferably closer to 100-150 on the webcam and something similar for the microphone. As I suspect they already have their computer speakers set up and wanting to continue using them as is
If my writing is a mess, I apologize, I'm severely tired atm
you're fine.
ultimately a $200-$300 budget for everything gives them a lot of leeway. but tbh they dont need to spend that much. most of the "not make a feedback loop" is done via software so zoom spends a lot of effort mitigating that and making sure that people sound their best despite the shittiest hardware imaginable.
I've got an amcrest AWC2198 that works fine and looks pretty good for only $20. it needs a decent amount of light to look good, so no dimly lit rooms.
and if they really want to avoid feedback loops and get best clarity, having something like a samson q2u or a audio technica atr2100x and then just having one person speak into it kind of like an interview would be best.
that should be like, $60-$80 for one audio setup
samson go is also a really good small option. real cheap.
really you just want the mic to be close to your mouth and away from the speakers. the speakers right next to the microphone that you'll see on laptops, or when people have a mic sitting on their desk next to their keyboard is where there will be issues
alternatively if you want something less jank, elgato has their Neo lineup which are more or less meant for casual streaming and professional stuff.
Well, I see you actually know what you're talking about. I actually had a pretty good idea on the topic, but I'm not entirely sure if the solution as you've mentioned is going to be suitable. Most likely the tech and software available nowadays does a ton of the heavy lifting, as people don't know audio well enough to tweak or has a irrational fear of trying to tweak stuff.
I were thinking Along the line of a samson q2u and a Logitech webcam, but I'm dreading even that would be.. unappreciated by them, if for acoustics or phobia for tech.
I will say im semi-knowledgable about recording equipment and not very knowledgable about webcams. so dont take whatever I say as law.
insta360 has some decent webcams though
Well, it's atleast a little more knowledge then the typical person, so yes. It means something
I'll see if our local retailers happens to carry those. Imo, webcams are crap, always has been and continues to be pretty lackluster for what they are. So I know that a 120-ish Logitech webcam is not great for the price, but nor are the competition much better in most regards
yeah. and thats why i say just save your money.
because the difference between a $20 webcam and a $120 webcam is not that big
My point of view too. But it shouldn't be the same experience as a webcam from 08' and ruin the family voice call. But I suspect they might get frustrated if the model I pick looks too cheap, even if they don't know what's decent or rubbish themselves
Same with the microphone. If it looks cheap or tacky, and that many things got gamery-fied after the demand from people wanting "streaming accessories" just makes the products more annoying to sort through.
Again, I apologize for being somewhat negative. I'm just very done for today and my patience has run dry for today
Fair point, though it was where my mental image of a crappy generic-ish webcam came from
yeah i get it. i think i've given you all the info i can reasonably give. theres not really a magic bullet here. if there were a perfect product for audio and webcam with minimal setup. even if there were an infinite budget there would still be something to bungle up and get not great audio and video
well, at least for the technologically illeterate
as you spend more money you just get things that can be fine tuned more and more for a better outcome
A good clarification, certainly
yeah. a million dollars wouldnt get you any closer to what you want. $300 should cover it, but i just cant think of exactly what would be best for grandpa and grandma to work good out of the box and not need any special treatment
Well, they could pay me a pretty penny to set it up exactly as they would've wanted it to. Doubt they would pay me a million dollars, but I certainly would be able to dial in a audio setup and a decent webcam retailing $300 that would sound pretty damn good in their computer room.
Anyways, I'll do some looking around for something decent. And as you mentioned, I don't think both parts combined doesn't need to cost as much. But picky people gets on my nerves when I've put some time and research in to it and still being displeased with the end result.
Either way, I appreciate your ideas and time. Didn't mean to be such a grumpy jackass. I'll take my leave and get some well deserved rest. But I wish you a good rest of your day!
Sennheiser has somewhat succeeded
my desk speakers are too good they are rather tiring to listen to. how can i make them easier to listen to?
what's tiring about them?
sometimes that means too much treble, does it feel like your ears are being pierced too much after a while?
I haven't been able to pinpoint that yet
they're the Klipsch RP-500M2
I think too much treble might be it but im not really too sure
perhaps they are turned up too loud
perhaps
they're rather close to me
I dont know about ideal placement
they're very analytical
can toe them out, so pointing them more away from you
yo which one do i get
Turtle Beach Atlas Air Wireless
Hyperx Cloud Alpha
DT990 Pro
steelseries nova pro
other
they are kinda pointed right at me...
point them kinda away from you then
dis the stuff i got recommended if its all straight ass no making fun of me
yes but how well can it hold soup
😰
but like how does it sound
was there even a word of it
you may think I say that while deliberately ignoring frequency response, but
minus individual earshape and mild blips from the headphones, there is no frequency response
if it's such a neutral device then we're only left with techs
no need to compensate for mental adjustment or FR masking
hm
timbre was mentioned but only in a form strictly tied to FR
I'm with crinacle pre-release on this one. timbre is part FR, part tech
I mean back in 2014 let's say, the 2006 imac was just fine for that (actually using Skype lol)
Yo chat I have a ponder
I have this str-dg510 or something and was wondering if I should buy a dongle run it from my pc
My current audio chip’s is alc897 and yes I’m using aux
Read his subjective impressions
I think i'm gonna go demo hd550
Its in the article
if I add an eq module to an instrument in music production and do absolutely nothing to it,
did I actually eq?
5128 is a measuring rig
but if we subtract tilted df from the measurement, we're more or less left with no modifications
Yes but it can be a good purchase for people who find 650 and 600 too shouty and dont want to eq
in relation to the treble (5k+), the mc450 is not shouty at all

keep in mind that the frequency response you see here is likely something you will never have again after replacing the earpads
hd560s's official earpads haven't been sold for a while now. they were replaced with the much boomier, mid-dipped, and muffled hd559 earpads
anyone know why the ANC is basically gone after a firmware updateon my sennheiser momentum 4?
that's like dead average
But damn....that's a lot of tracks
I've never seen Gb audio CDs. I'll have to look up if Dreamcast had any
wdym Gb audio cds?
If 800 is the average, id assume the high end might be about 1/4 to 1/8 larger
average was probably wrong, it really depends on the average length of an album of music
i think 84 minutes is probably the limit of how much you can expect to reliably fit on an audio cd
I wonder if Redbook has mono in its spec. Like, can i fit 150 minutes of mono on a CD?
i dont think it does but don't quote me on that
I'm gonna assume all discs were technically 800MB, but usage varies.
Also, in my mind, a music album(cd) averages 60 minutes. But I'm probably wrong
no
What if... We release an album in stereo, but instruct the user to pan the balance to "change sides"?
that would be really funny
Also, iirc, you can fit more "data" as a redbook audio pressing than trying to put wav files on a "data" cd
yep
because the cd-r format has less efficient error correction, in my understanding
I'll listen to it at work
Now i gotta relearn what hdcd is and how to decode it
Weirdly...all my hdcd cds are country(namely Reba)
ive only got a couple hdcds and haven't bothered with decoding them yet
At this point I'm my life, i think I've had an easier time ripping SACDs
Thanks Sony, for making your SACD capable BDRs, just a bit too smart...
EAC is peak audio technology...
That's like being in the Gaming channel and asking who Sega is...
anyone know where i can get something like a USB-C breakout board but for audio?
like if i solder it to a small speaker and hook it up to a phone it would work
like a 2 in 1 breakout board and audio driver
uh
these are just straight data and +-
yeah not possible
speakers need analog input
that is digital output
your solution is to just get a usb c to 3.5 adapter
like the apple one
cheapest one
im trying to make small speakers that attach directly to the bottom of your phone
and design and 3d print the enclosure
well then just use the apple usb c to 3.5 one
it costs 10$ and trying to build something of your own would be pretty stupid
you'd need to design a digital to analog converter unit
then cut the jack and strip the wires or use the jack?
good luck doing that for cheaper than 10$
there is a chip inside of it
as long as the chip is intact and receives a usb signal then it will work
why not just design the enclosure in a way the apple usb c adapter is placed onto it and route its 3.5 end on the other side
yeah im probably gonna to that
is the chip in the type c port ot the 3.5mm
I would presume on the usb c side because the other one is round
and the cable part is just 2 wires right?
alright, what small audio drivers do you recommend?
yeah mb
no I mean your terminology is correct I just wanted to make sure
uh
honestly I wouldn't
the effort needed to make a speaker enclosure that sounds good on your own is so great
that I would not deviate from existing DIY projects with measured outputs
saves like 500 hours of tampering
sounds terrible, im doing it
well good luck
I would read a ton of stuff on how to design a speaker though
id perhaps get a dsp unit to do correction eq to it
is it really that complicated
its not for audio enthusiasts
if you want to get anything enjoyable to listen to
yes
potentially thousands of hours of research
im trying to make something good for people with hearing loss
I see
A headphone?
well I couldn't say without trying
DT990
its a speaker lol
honestly it shouldn't be hard to create something that has audio coming out of it
use some circuitry you see online to boost the treble
or to lower everything not the treble
and that should be as good as you can do for people with hearing damage
without doing correctional dsp
which is expensive
maybe i shoud look into speakers with a 3.5mm jack and just use it
perhaps
janky but it works
go get some shit ass logitechs and put them in there
surround them with some foam so there isn't resonance in there
i can emulate foam with infill patterns
may or may not be a better result than randomly throwing in drivers into a wooden box and expecting decent sound
tbh cheap drivers are 10$ so your choice
i doubt it would be good but it would sate your curiosity
alright, thanks for the help
np
what have you done
FLAC level 8?
I wouldnt be suprised if I ripped a album as WAV and it was 400MB. I've seen some pretty lazy albums
where do you live
are you coming to my house to kill me?
no im going to file a complaint for piracy to the local authorities
you cant disrespect digital goods like this
I'm used to 40-50 min albums so not that out of line
cd ripping isn't piracy :wholesome:
thats for the police to decide
I think they have decided
death row for xnamkcor
If I knew it was a christmas album...i probably wouldn't have gotten it...
i recently got a mic and anything that i should do or keep in mind
also how far should the mic be from me
Can someone recommend me some software to check if I have any missing tracks in my library by checking tags?
I have all my tags right and the folder structure all set. Just need to check if some tracks are missing cus im sus
@lean grove after a few weeks of having owned a Susvara, and having resoldered my dac/amp interconnect to fix polarity, and modding my glasses to get a better seal for sub bass
they are pretty good
I like them now
he1000 stealth that I was using before has an insane amount of treble at 8kHz and above which I had programmed my brain to, but like, I literally cannot switch back, its too much now.
I perceived it as pleasant before switching to susvara
1 to 2 inches from what I have heard but it all depends on how much gain you put on it
Maybe the woke mind virus has programmed your brain into liking susvara
what does class ab amplifier mean and should i get one over a class d
the one i have says "Class AB complementary linear output" not really sure what that means
Likely
But like, it's way better than it was with inverse phase
Was one channel out of phase or were both channels out of phase
Class D amps are cheaper to make, more efficient, and can usually put out more power than an equivalent priced class AB.
i dont need more power thats for sure
But other than that you can't really make any generalized statements.
Both
it has a fan thats quite loud
Definitely the woke mind virus. I'm afraid it's terminal.
Nah I did a blind test, it was audible
Class D amps usually don't need a fan.
its too loud
how do i make it quieter
the volume knob is too intense
10% volume is about 93db at 2 meters
its even louder when i play wav files
use an attenuator
build one
takes like 4 resistors
Calculate Headphone Attenuation Resistor Values
use this website
lower resistance you can get away with the better
you should be able to make the thing in the graph even if you have 30iq it takes like 2 connections each side
will the output of the speaker go through the resistor
im guessing it will
will i have to buy some big resistors because of the power im running
probably not
are you running speakers or headphones
speakers
which one now
do it
Wandla?
I just bought a Susvara a month ago as well
little less than a month
time to upgrade my stack for it
I run it off Violectric HPA V222
and for 1400 euros, it honestly runs it really well
how is the BHA-1, 3k euros
that thing is old
while it outputs 2W into 32 ohms
I see
test if you actually notice a difference between that amp and violectric v222
level match them
it was released in 2012
wrong react, but like, compare v590 vs v222 before buying
it made sense as a totl back in the days
I don't have much places to try the V222
The difference between Niimbus US5 and V222 was negligible for Susvara
theres no store around with Violetric
weirdly enough he1000 stealth changed more with going from v222 to niimbus than sus
huh that's quite intresting
now a I got a question
did you buy a different cable for the Sus
I need one
the stock one is trash
can hardly call it a cable
I have the 2.5mm sus
mine's the 3.5mm
but it was basically identical in terms of sound to the 3.5mm one
maybe I should just use the D8000 cable for it
tho actually, I liked mine more, but could just be due to fresher pads
I am keeping it solely to keep the resell value in tact
so I'm really desperate to get a replacement cable for it
just use the d8000 cable
forza audioworks is nice
make sure to select the darker sleeving
I accidentally ordered the wrong coller for my sus
so now I have this color
I prefer pure copper
A sweet spot between Copper Series Mk2 and Noir Mk2 – the Claire HPC Mk2. Beautifully hand braided , 8-wire UPOCC copper cable for both home and portable use.
nah get this one
looks pretty neat
I have the darker sleeved one (3.5mm), it would have looked better with Susvara, I'm still annoyed I selected the wrong color.
I can't use it on my 2.5mm Susvara
Yikes
Hey guys, gals, and all my other in-between pals. I was wondering if this Rode-nt1 clone will be decent enough or not, all the reviews seemed alright and there is one with a comparison graph in it. its the Alabs AC88. only downside I saw during all of the testings I have seen people do are the off axis rejection
why this mic specifically
there are lots of other $50 mics out there that are quite reputable
I’m tempted to run my audio through a tv then to my avr from my oc because the tv has optical out
mainly because of what came with it and the form factor. most of the other 50 dollar mics were podcast like microphones or where alot shorter than I liked. While it is cheap plastic this mic comes with a shock mount and a screw on pop filter
can anyone recommend a good earphones for me?
what do you need them for? music? podcasts? games?
and whats your price range?
using it for music or like general use
no gaming
by price range is around the 100 usd
and do you want in-ears, on-ears, or over-ears?
we don't have amazon hereee
ok i'll send direct from seller
ill check their names and see if we have them in shops here
gotcha. so for that price i'd highly recommend the nothing ear (a)'s
they have a really good frequency response and they look sick as frick lol
ooo its the same price as the galaxy buds3 pro
does it matter which device its paired to
it shouldn't
where can i find memory foam eartips for samsung buds 2
i live in romania, dont have amazon
Maybe try AliExpress
uhh im looking rn and i dont see any specifically for buds 2
and idk what universal ones to use
These look like they might work
silicones itch my ears
wait can u give me the link to the 2nd ones
Sure, one sec
Looks like standard Buds 2 have a deeper stalk than the Buds 2 Pro
ure a life saver
Could anyone suggest a DAC I can use with my IEMs? (they are the Truthear Crinale Zero afaik)
The main reason just is to make switching hosts with a kvm easier
Apple dongle
please don't get garbage foams
Apple dongle, Jcally JM12, Fiio JA11
i dont have many options
your option is to not use foams
cheap foams will literally crumble in your ears within a month
the only foam tips that are really worth it is Azla Foamax and they're expensive
jm6 pro if you dont have apple dongle available, and also extra power
*not that you'll ever need them
if you don’t mind them changing the sound signature a bit
sure
I didn't consider that
Changing the pads on my Beyerdynamic headphones made a slight difference to the sound signature.
paid like $90 for a elgato wave dx and $100 for a scarlett solo3 and im not really impressed with the mic quality, havent really eq'd it
if anyone has like a video or something thats good lmk
did you replace it with the same kind?
I will say that the clone dt990 pads are actually quite similar sounding to the real thing
I replaced them with some Brainwavz ones if I recall correctly
Has anyone tried the Truthear crinacle blue 2? I really like the original blue the nozzle is just too big for me. I really wanted these to be great but all the YouTubers are shitting on them
Anyone know any good earbuds for like $100 or less? I don't have a super high budget but want something that sounds good
I've seen people say good things about the Sony WF-C500
haven't tried them but one thing you should consider is that they're designed to be used with foam tips instead of silicone which is a dealbreaker for me personally
they work great if you pair them with darker eartips like Final type E, though.
do they have good imaging like the zero:red
Aqua measured it
yes
i might consider it if the treble is fixable without foam
treble is one of those things that if it's close to being good, you can easily fix with things like different eartips
@haughty girder That's reassuring. I'm not the biggest fan of foam tips and I really liked the original blues but the nozzle was really uncomfortable
any guesses as to what the pickup pattern of pixel 8 top and bottom microphone would be
i am getting curious about trying to do stereo recording cheaply
effectively omnidirectional depending on software choice
i figure choosing the "unprocessed" AudioSource would make it just the natural omnidirectional? i guess that could make my phone sort of an a-b system
idk how to test this with my actual phone on the actual app i'm using
should i just scream into it at different directions and compare each channel
seems to have super wide imaging with the unprocessed option selected
PEQdB IE Target
yea pretty much
pretty sure there's apps you can use to record each mic as a separate track
can't find any that do 3 tracks, since i have 3 mics
not quite sure what the back mic is doing in unprocessed mode
i do happen to have a blue snowball so i wonder if combining phone with cardioid mic is meaningful in any way
Chat what earbuds do i get for around 50€, should i get cmf buds pro 2 or is there sum better
probably disabled tbh
bottom mic is primary iirc, top mic is secondary
Random question, what effect does the size of the opening on the eartips for Iems have on the sound?
Assuming you're just changing the tips, the smaller bore will usually reduce treble.
Oh ok excellent
Do note there are some widebores that reduce treble more than narrow bores, it really depends per eartip
but generally yes, smaller bore reduces more treble
hopefully so, I don't want it messing up my otherwise unprocessed left and right recording
My monitor sounds slightly less like a huge pile of shit when you pull the bass out of it
Anyone know a good pair of iems under 20? Happy with going w Ali express or anything else
7hz zero 2
$25 on amazon but if you need the $5 then it should be possible to find below $20 on aliexpress
I couldn't find it in my budget
@zenith pawn do yk if these are good
i honestly would just wait then if at all possible, ive seen the 7hz zero:2 go on sale for $18-20 often, and they easily beat a lot of more expensive iems
ive heard of the castor but don't know if they're any good
from what i've heard they might be decent
Castor is uh...
lets just say
KZ is just bad in general
and Castor is uh, terrible on the spectrum of bad
@empty plume it seems like the 7hz zero:2 are $18 right now? isn't that within your $20 budget
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806682486478.html this is the page for them
God damn it
I didn't see it
sorry do i hear new budget iem for me to try
now you got me curious, how do they compare to the 7hz
it's not even that new lmao
but to the salnotes zero2 it's a bit more tonally balanced I'd say, whereas zero2 was warm tilted and slightly dark
the biggest upside to Gate is the cable though
Zero2 cable sucks
Gate cable is probably one of the best mic cables you can get bar none
Do you know something like
Under 10 hacks
Bucks
on ali
Im gonna save the rest for a new Kb or mic
you can't even spare up to 20...?
My akg k371 ( I think that's what they are called ) are breaking
Need a new mic
how?
I don't have on rn and it sucks for playing comp games
I got up from my chair too quick
And like the arc up ripped up u can see the yellow
it might be fixable
pleather wore out - you can just replace em
wait is the leather cracked at all?
headphone max loudness is not determined by the headphones but rather the source its plugged into
Oh
So I can just buy replacement earcups?
my 361 got replacement cups from Ali
Tysm
Thank you again🙏
yeah I paid like nothing for em
I'm just making new accs
I'm gonna buy a mic too
bros getting that welcome deal
uh don't do that too much you'll get flagged and get banned
yeah ik
this is like my second time doing this
in the span of like 9 months
if you have an inactive account, I believe welcome deal comes back either every 6 or 12 months
Xm4 or momentuum 4 ewhich should i get?
Anyone know which is a better buy , the xm5 earbuds or pixel buds 2 pro
I have a pixel 9 pro xl and im using the galaxy buds 2 right now
Anyone know of any soundbars that can be powered off USB-C PD? I've got a free USB 3.2 gen2 port and I'm wondering if a single cord audio solution exists.
USB doesn't have enough power for speakers so no.
a USB 3.2 Gen2 can deliver up to 100 watts along with data
More than enough for a non-audiophile application
hell, my car only has a 100watt stereo
it wouldn't be a smart business decision to produce speakers specifically for people with 3.2 ports
Yes but not every USB can do that. So imagine you're designing a speaker with this and 50% of your reviews are one star because people don't have a compatible port and it doesn't work.
Alternatively. you could have just done a 120/240v ac input like everything else and that everyone has access to.
I know some logitech speakers that work with usb but
they aren't anything i could recommend
i hope you know how to do room correctional eq
I'm currently using homemade speakers off a little 20w aliexpress amp
shouldn't be too hard to 3d print a single housing to fit everything, right?
I don't need a THX certified sound system
Just equal to or better than $40 logitech speakers
thx certification is a meme but go on
well i hope its that good
time to fall down the parts express rabbit hole I guess
so about my phone
Good luck 👍
my keyboard recordings have insane stereo imaging from my phone in unprocessed mode
I just realized I happened to make basically an ideal a-b stereo recording setup for my keyboard using my phone
since my phone was about 3 inches away from keyboard, and the distance between mics is 5.9 inches
so maybe that's why it sounded so right
but but it’s an indicator of marketing++ brand
the sticker is very important
the brain worms calmed down and made me get chord mojo 2 for 350 instead of chord qutest for 1100
saved 750, basically earned 750 euros, meaning 750 cable budget
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations regarding studio monitors, I can pick up a pair of KRK rokit 7 G4s for €250. Thinking that maybe they're too big for my relatively small living room PC setup.
Take a look at the Adam d3v
those are rather small at 3,5 inches, I'm looking for 5 or 7 inch monitors
You just said how they're too big for your relatively small living room setup
was considering between de 5s or 7s, but I like the idea of not needing a sub with the 7s
What do you think qualifies a speaker to need or not need a subwoofer
Because I don't think those rokit 7s can do 20hz.
nope, lowest is 40hz
but generally that should be good enough
I think
was also curious if there's anything specific I should know before getting into active monitors
I'm literally coming from this
I read about that, should be mostly fixed if you hook them up on a power socket different from the one my pc is connected to?
Nope.
If your monitors hiss the only way to fix that is to get better monitors.
I'm going to inspect the 7s I've bid on irl before I buy them, so I suppose I can check
is it something they all do, or is it a sign of wear?
I'm sure it gets worse with age but most below $500 will hiss.
Unless they specifically market with low noise amplifiers you can usually assume they will
depends on the cause
some speakers you can't do anything about
some speakers you can fix by preventing ground loops or isolating cables
but there are some like the ones nils mentioned that have hissing caused just due to the engineering
I had cheap adams that were very low self noise
was also looking at adams, are those generally better than krks?
I'm ready rather mixed reviews on krk in general
generalization is a bad idea
most audio companies have like 5 items you could legitimately call good and 50 ones you shouldn't buy
this isn't due to the other 50 ones being necessarily terrible but they are just not competitive enough in their price range
right
good ones to look at are JBL, kali and neumann imo
jbl 305 is really good for its price
i dont propose there isn't better but i dont know of anything that is better
I'm looking to spend around €300
jbl305p are that much
but they may be big for your setup which was your issue initially
my friend who's very into audio recommended me to look at second hand, because unless they're blown speakers can't really be broken in any significant way
dont mind the mess, but was thinking to hang them on the wall on ear level on the elft and right side of the star wars light box
it's not a cramped setup perse, was just afraid that perhaps 7 inch monitors were more meant for much larger setups in general
hanging isn't a good idea
you'd want platforms below them and put the speakers above the platforms
See the new Erin's audio corner video on the d3v
or else you will have resonance issues
yeah those are meant to be good
but this guy is set on bigger ones for whatever reason
I was thinking about that yes, but I figured it wasn't going to be that big of a deal. I'm making some music, but I'm not mixing and mastering on some high level
Also very low is relative. Vanatoos were very low as well but I still noticed and it bothered me. Hence why I only do passive speakers.
If I can hear it, it's too high
you would also be blocking the exhausts of the speakers with the wall
which is also a bad idea
right across it is our couch where we sit down to watch movies also
well they rivaled much more expensive ones
exhaust is on the front of KRKs
Klaus actually points speakers away from him because he thinks they sound better. So in his case they would be blocked by the wall.
But you are correct a normal human with a fully functioning prefrontal cortex would have the speakers facing the right way
I just place the headphones on the wall and turn the volume really high
I suppose I could put poles for them straight to the wall
figured wall mounts would be better
Just don't have a lot of money to spend right now, my current speakers are dying so I need something new.
Found 7' krks for €250 and figured I could make it work in my setup
is that optimal?
who meta
buy my $250 chifi (no i wont tell you the driver config, and no you cant cancel your order or return it)
michael
klaus
buy me a brushless motor driver
i think you can afford that
affording it makes me unable to afford a brushless motor
Michael is also poor Klaus
yes donate pls
He is stuck in iem hell
oh update
the open box novas that i bought the other day
the left has driver rattle
☠️
Did you see my new speakers Michael
i dont think i did
we should torch michael

who was that gentleman
the only thing that you will receive from me in the mail is an explosive device
Klaus will turn it into a gofundme
gofundme or i mail this bomb to an orphanage
do they sound good for the anime OSTs that you listen to?
no
Once I put them on some strands. Right now they are kinda bloated with lower mids/upper bass
Better than the tozzis but not worth $600
why dont you room eq them
neumann kh80 tiny desk speaker king
3 stars 21 reviews
Are these good speakers for the price
I wonder if that's really shaurar whoever the name is in the reviews
its just them trying to dox crinacle
i like a lil curve on a big monitor
i wish my lg c4 42 had a slight curve
it looks like it's curved backwards even though it's flat
Sharur
monitors should have stayed 4:3
yeah i think 16:9 is too wide
Wait holdon
What is that reaction emoji
its sharur shirtless
If I have 2 ultra wides on top of each other, is my aspect ration technically 7:6 lol
cant divide it to 4:3
cringe
also wtf is that use case get a doctor
psycopath in chat
normalize expressing aspect ratios with denominator 1
Math is not strong with this one
english isnt my language
It’s the bottom part of the fraction
Yeah idk what this guy is saying
explaining a math term to a guy who didn't study math in english terms using more english terms
very intelligent havent thought of that one
1.5:1 instead of 3:2
denominator is 1
Hard to compare 3:2 vs 16:9 in your head without computing for example
If you do photography, 3:2 is literally burned into ur brain
4:3 is supposedly roughly what the human vision sees, but I think that 3:2 just looks perfect
But if you encounter an aspect ratio you've never seen before
It is harder to calculate and interpret
i’d like a higher res 1:1 monitor
it depends on the distance or size of the object from eyes
the farther, the lower the aspect ratio
no
