bet i could beat that guy in a fight
hi guys
should i buy xm4 second hand or wait until xm5 second hand comes down in price
i have until september- december
the tone is boomy and synthetic
definitelyhas treble though
these are very resolving for $50 and show a broad but obvious sense of direction minus vertical
also block out a lot of noise
what iem would my nerds recommend for general use/gaming at my pc. i can use 3.5 jack. it'll go into goxlr
what budget? the 7hz zero:2 are pretty good for the budget range
100-300 id say
hopefully somebody else has a better idea of the higher end but i use the $55 truthear zero red and theyre also pretty good
ill take a look at those as well ive only found the ie 200
mind sending me a link to one you said
SPECIFICATIONS Driver: 10mm+7.8mm Dynamic Driver Diaphragm: Polyurethane Suspension LCP Liquid Crystal Composite Diaphragm Impedance: 17.5Ω15% @1KHz Sensitivity: 117.5dB/Vrms @1KHz THD: <1%@1khz Frequency Response Range: 20-40.5kHz (IEC61094, Free Field) Effective Frequency Response Range: 20-20k...
looks like the price went up to $60
thats the one you meant right
ones i found where 20 and was like yeah seems wrong
wha
was it the 7hz zero:2 because that would be that range
its pretty short
idk the exact length, id guess 1m or so
hmmm def would need longer
yeah i would need 3m atleast if i did go with it
i wonder if youll end up needing to buy a longer cable anyways for most iems
its a somewhat standard port i believe
bro
I'm buying moondrop chu II with type c with mic
i have a
usb 3.1 type c
on my case
will it support ?
any decent "budget" microphones for like $100, I've looked at the pd200x and pd400x ($128), not sure if they're worth getting or at the price range of the pd400x would an AT2020 usb be better
I mean you can grab an mtrack solo, xm8500, cheap boom arm and an xlr cable for like 90 bucks
what would be the weight of that
im getting it shipped from usa to bosnia and im paying $7 / kg
thomann doesnt ship there?
its a european site
shipping from US is almost always not wise in europe
already have a $51 giftcard on amazon through affiliates that's why I'm interested in buying from usa
hmm does gift card balance transfer to those sites
yeah I understand that but I'd also have to pay for shipping there which would be way more than just buying from usa and getting it shipped here
from the US you would get high shipping price AND import fees
also it doesn't transfer
I know that but I'm getting it shipped to a usa address
then to me with a 3rd party company
import only applies if you go over $150 here at least
I have used a gift card so many times on amazon and ordered from a different amazon address
like I usually use amazon.de but then I see that a product is cheaper if shipped from amazon.co.uk and I can still use it
thats just weird
well that is dumb
true
someone told me pd400x would be better than pd200x cause if something for the usb connectivity breaks you can always use xlr, no idea how true that is though
even tho they're both usb/xlr
is lct 240 pro a good mic
looked at the edifier MR4s this morning, would still be great to have...
likely dont need pd400x cause im just using the mic for discord anyways
debating between fifine k688 and maono pd200x
they are really good
you have a pair?
any mic budget mic recommendation something under 25usd
i bought it for my friend
i currently have tangzu wan'er SG
oh okay, what do you think of the tangzu?
they are really great
they are not that well with bass but when it comes to vocals
its really good
oo
but ocassionally alt rock
are the BASN triple drivers any good? theyre like 90 bucks
what is wubz
is it like sub?
i am also hearing it first time
ah i see
i love wubz
not my type
but i feel its good to keep ur head empty
nostalgic
I wish my 599s had better sub bass
helps me keep engaged
any lavalier mic you can find
some people focus on the beat and some people focus on the lyrics
i focus more on the beat
i want something that i dont have to attach to me
i want a mic i an just keep beside me while playing games with my friend
iems mic just dont cut out
ok let me listen to it real quick
coil it around your headphones' wire and attach it to the headphones
i use iems
i'm using headphones + headset around my neck rn for mic
get the iem mic thingy
damn
my iem have mic but not that great tbh
i just like when i sound better while playing
i see

i might look into it
Ive been considering saving up for a 3 way shelf speaker setup
why 3 way wtf
thanks
which sound am i listening for
is it the main instrument or the bass thing?
just beat i guess
two on desk and a sub
i mean which part of it is the wubz
i didnt know the exact term mb
you better be sorry
lel
yeah okay says the guy with the edgy 14 y/o username
sorry i meant 14 y/o
want to throw fists
tbh i like his username
its cool
that would be a waste of fists to just throw them away
pls do
imma bring popcorn
whats your xbox online id
how about a lunch date and a knuckle sandwich
is wubz a specific instrument or just something youre describing the entire song as
nah its just a general term for a sound in Dnb
oh
its just him articulating the sound that comes from the song with letters
that sound comes from the bass to me
wubz is wubz
it is bass largerly yes
yeah usually wubz are pretty bassy
wubwubwub
listen to skrillex or something he has a lot of wubs
i think i know what you mean
yeah skrillex is the king of wubz
does he still make music
doubt its something ill like
wait nvmd
me neither but i might listen just to see if i know what you mean
i was thinking of another dnb artist
skrillex hasnt done anything since 23
i was thinking of flux pavillion he still makes new releases
just write skrillex in google
play whatever song comes up
i just installed an actual media player with gapless playback and it makes pink floyd 1000x better
bangarang
ok just a sec
what does that mean
i just have peace APO w/peters equalizer
like, in the album they have it so the sound sorta continues between the tracks, so you need a player that will play the next track without any split second of silence
u guys really into audio
ohhh
cool
i just connect my iems to my monitor using a y-splitter and enjoy hehe
for like listening to whole albums
pink floyd tracks are done on vinyl
yeah i dont have the attention span for that
thats probably the better experience
isnt that just the same as having no crossfade
i think so
yes
but, for example with jellyfin web, it buffers for like 0.2 seconds between playing other tracks and theres no crossfade or anything
sometime seamless transition to next song is the key
yes
when u dont even realise and the next song has already started
true
you definitely lose on sounds when you make vinyl into digital
then play it back through your own system
for sure
i dont have a record player unfortunately
theres filters for that though that can help add some of it back in
good
cd rips are good enough
its expensive to get into
do u guys download songs and hear them?
i use deezer
or use things like spotify and stuff
no benefit aside from listening to pink floyd and messing with like 50 styluses that each cost 500$ to get ideal experience™️
hmm
idk if spotify has hifi or not but i use deezer for its lossless
spotify doesnt offer lossless quality right
they might now
no
no, but spotify is good enough ™️
it doesnt
but i know deezer has lossless
i have spotify premium
lossless is unnecessary
aac is pretty good
i use spotify premium
i wouldnt pay for it
it can be noticeable in certain situations
but its very very minor
i just like spotify cause i have used it for so long
i cant make myself to switch
can abx any song and it would take me 15 minutes to tell them apart and cost way more space on my phone
and only in tracks that were made with lossless compatibility in mind
thats every song
klaus
idk if i can tell aac but i can tell mp3 160 vs lossless pretty reliably
but aac is a huge jump
do u use any equalzer with spotify
yes
so far i havent been able to notice on aac
yes
oh
same
spotify's equalizer kind of sucks
I use the one reccomended by crin and the auto profiles made my him are great
i have a laptop setup
and i dont have speaker so idk if i need to
i use headphones mostly its not very relevant
can make anything sound better provided it needs eq
speaking of laptop speakers
oh
i need to start learning DSP stuff just for fun
the zephyrus G14 has some of the best speakers on a small laptop ive ever heard
like real bass not fake bass
i have a framework laptop and those speakers are actually horrible
womp womp
like 90s laptop kind of horrible
oh no
i have a hp pavillion
but i use monitor speaker
they are pretty good
i can actually enjoy music on my G14 like its tolerable for my ears
thats better than most laptops
Especially on simpler tracks like some background lofi or whatever its 100% enjoyable
i have this old monitor,u cant even find it on market anymore
i wish it had vesa support
laptop speakers must be an afterthought for most manufacturers XD
might be a bit difficult if you are new
but google equalizer apo tutorial
if you have a short attention span google peace eq tutorial
does it look good at least
I have a dell 32'' that they stopped making too
i mean for me yeah
idk about your standard
so if i wanted a dual monitor setup id have to buy two new monitors
lemme send a pic
oh i just realized i misread that as saying oled
float your wrists
why?
flat high profile with no rest
with keyboard u mean
yea
tbh i am usually studying so i have books under my hand
fair enough
and if i am gaming i dont really have a problem cause i am used to it
i guess its a nice way to have a bit of extra space
i am switching to a aula f75 now
so might get a coushin thingy that people use with keyboard
I get rsi cuz my thumbs are weird so i need my pad
i legit have unusually short tendons in my thumbs
fair enough
i wish i could type everything
i got used to just floating my wrists when typing
but finals are offline
same'
apparently thats ergonomically good too
adapting at max
i had to do a final handwritten and my hand was swollen and red for like 4 hours after
i want to know a detail about my monitor but i cant find it weird
i wanna know what speaker this monitor have(like watt)
omg i cant i hate carpeted rooms i just deepcleaned my pc a week ago and it already has dustbunnies on the outside
i have it on top of a plastic thingy so its not on the floor
damn
do you have pets?
oh
its just no matter how much i clean i cant get rid of all the dust
it comes out of nowhere
same
nice
can u help me with something bbaovanc
i saw airforce 1 land from my room for the daytona 500
pretty neat living basically on an airport
https://www.samsung.com/in/support/model/LC27F591FDWXXL/#downloads
i want to find about this monitor speaker
must be cool
fr
i have a race circuit
near my dorm
i wake up with engine revs
its a old f1 circuit that is now used for normal racing event or private events
opinions on this 2.1
no knowledge so gotta wait for someone better lol
crickets chirping
cricket chirping inensifies
1280 are decent but id buy the mr4 instead
no idea about the sub but polk has been very controversial whenever I see it mentioned
interesting
alr i'll look at some other subs
what kind of amp/interface do i need to run the speakers through for 2.1
i know i cant just plug em straight into a pc
I recently got an android head unit and I'm curious if there's any app for eq settings
Or if there's multiple, which is preferred?
you are looking at actives so none
you do that exactly
poweramp equalizer is the best but its paid
wavelet is a free alternative
wanting to get iems but ive seen people have problems with wnoise from goxlrs anyway to avoid the noise and use the mixer still
hmm https://www.amazon.com/Soundcore-Open-Ear-Headphones-Adjustable-Bluetooth/dp/B0DCZ2QFV8 my open ear earbuds no longer charge
They have the AeroFit Pros as well apparently for $150
Standard earbuds do NOT work for me and I require a hook otherwise they will fall out of my mishaped ears
Also my left ear canal is actually larger then my right and requires a "large" tip while my right requires a medium tip
I have had my current earbuds for less then 3 years closer to 2 and they no longer charge which sucks
what if i only have one aux out
will i have the right IO for it?
Free but some features paid
Which is fine with me
Hey
I need to get some headphones for University. I am unsure whether to get the Xm4 or the Xm5 during Amazon prike day to save money
not worth it
If I wanted to upgrade from Sennheiser HD 560S, which options do I have? (I mostly use them for gaming, but also of course listening to music)
any sound engineers that can rate my airpods pro 2 eq? (in steelseries Sonar / GG)
:3c
What don't you like about the 560s
hows that audio
Wrong channel?
Yeah lol
ment to post those in the general tech chat channel
hello, i was looking for a dynamic usb microphone for meetings and discord under 90 euros. Is the atr2100x the best option?
Yes alongside the Samson q2u
Make sure to get a boom arm
i heard the samson q2u sounds a bit off with the usb connected
Feel free to find one of the dozens of sound demos and make that call for yourself
so you would go with either the q2u or the atr?
Yes.
alright, thats all I needed. thanks
i was cleaning my earbuds (huawei se3 wireless) and i accidentally pushed the small mesh on the side in. There are 2 meshes (one big one for the main outlet and one small one on the side). Is there any way I can fix this? It's made my right earbud sound quieter and lower quality and I'd like to avoid getting a new one so does anyone have any solutions?
depends on your priorities but i recommend edition xs to everyone
sighs if moving my head around while wearing in ear earbuds is causing audio quality to change then there is something up wither either my ears/head or earbuds which is another reason I want to use open ear buds over these
and the fact that I require hooked in ear earbuds otherwise they fallout is another reason I can't use your typical pair of "earbuds/earpods"
So can you blame me for sticking to things that actually work for me over things that don't becuase of things I can not control?
yes
because earbuds falling out is a skill issue
with enough different eartips and sizes no such things as in ears that fall out
i personally tried like 10 eartip types before finding one that fits well
never an issue since
I went straight for spinfit w1 on just about everything
They kill subbass imo
but they're otherwise really solid
oh maybe i would like those then
the included tips on the 7hz zero:2 are awful and i kinda think theyre too punchy
$9 for one pair though? is that expensive, ive never bought tips
use ali for those big ass packs imo
like the 20 packs of weird tips
they will mostly be ass but there may be 1-2 pairs that fit you well
im dumb as shit lmao
is bose quietcomofrt ultra or xm5 better, if so, how much better
Maybe twenty five
so quite a bit increase
No.
Common problem
Anyone recommending Bose or Sony as a good sounding headphone probably don't know what they're talking about.
Like upwards of 90% chance.
For starters, what do you want, what do you need, and how much do you want to spend
hn
i need anc for university and walking and i will spend maximum 250 pound
*2nd hand too
Okay. See if you can find a Ugreen max5c
They're like $25-$40
And they're tuned well
me fr
I know it seems absurdly cheap, but mainstream tech companies charge way too fucking much for their anc headphones
i envy nils though
he is the only person in the server dumber than me
hate being the silver medal in a gold medal race
it aint in the uk apparently
Other retailers than amazon are available
Shoulda done more whippets and rotted your brain from the inside out
Your prefrontal cortex is cemented and unchanged
Mine remains plastic. Malleable. Like a baby.
:(
Hey guys, my logitech g pro headset broke, just looking for a cheap replacement for now, i've been looking at the Samson SR850 and the Sennheiser HD206, does anyone have any experience with either headphones?
i usually use my headset for competitive shooters like valorant and music
Another issue is that NOT all earbud tips are created equal and those packs of tips will likely NOT fit whatever earbuds I down own/get as those little nubss can be widly different sizes I have noticed
The tip packs are one thing I wouldn't mind getting from aliexspress honestly as they aren't critical and have no actual eletronics within them that would blow up spectatularly if used
they do kind of fit whatever
its made out of rubber
it stretches a lot
and its kind of your fault if they dont fit since you didnt buy the correct nozzle size
like just buy the correct thing its not that hard
literally 90% of the amazon marketplace is products from china being sold at a price markup
I tend to stick to well known brands honestly on amazon
those brands just buy items from ali and assemble them instead
or have the chinese assemble it for them and sell them instead
very little of what you buy is made on the land you live
some say he still has this question to this day
yea, the price isn't for everyone
Your first problems is your mousepad, second is what is your theme? Black monitor and headphones with white speakers and mouse, blue keyboard and red mousepad. Third is using farfield monitors nearfield
do you know if there's any way I can compare the size to know which one to buy
nope! There's sizing charts that tell you the depth and width, but what works for you has to be tested
that must be why there's a big warning about it being frequently returned
where's the sizing charts
I bought both ms and s based on my old eartips and found that s works for me the best, for example
Oh wait I found chart
I didn't realize there were more pictures
Did you return the MS
Man I really need to buy a pair of dial calipers
No i kept the ms since they weren't exactly uncomfortable
I don't really abuse amazon returns for things that need to be sanitary
I just found s to be slightly more comfortable, both get a fine seal
Best budget earbuds? Like 60 $ and under
I am a fan of the truthear zero red, but also do you have any preferences to go off of?
Recommendations for a USB mic and boom arm looking to spend $100 or less if possible
it's a white theme the mousepad is getting changed soon, keyboard is white with some keycaps blue
It looks pretty bad, but 91 samples at 384KHz probably is effectively "instant", right?
I like em, I just like to upgrade if possible
Possible yes but it's hard to tell you what would be a good upgrade without knowing what makes you want to upgrade.
There's definitely a lot of more expensive headphones but they'll have tradeoffs and changes that you might not prefer.
@lean grove which amp do you drive your susvara with?
percussion sounds soft on my amplifier with the susvara
schiit magni
I don't have a susvara.
But I have an Smsl vmv a1
Oh
I'm currently looking for a new pair of headphones since the ear cups of my current ones (Jabra Evolve 65) are falling apart.
So far, I've figured out that the main important things for me are active noise cancellation and being able to easily switch between multiple wireless devices (also being able to use wired input via USB C would be great, but that's not strictly necessary). When I tried headphones at my local best buy, I found the Skull Candy ones too bass heavy (the most bass-focused song in my playlist iirc is Wir Fliegen), but other than that didn't have any other major preference.
Take a look at the Ugreen max5c
Huh. I wasn't expecting ANC to be available at all below like $100 (most of what I saw was in the $200-$350 range)
ANC can be cheaply added to just about anything.
The hard part is making good ANC.
yeah, even at 44.1k it would be pretty hard to hear
Also that's probably what the square wave is supposed to look like

Okay, looks like I'll need to do some more research into this. Do you have any recommendations as to where I can look to better understand what my requirements/preferences would be?
Rtings has good resources for ANC quality. Just ignore their numerical ratings for sound quality.
Their ratings system is dog-ass
If you look at the individual measurements, read up on how and why they do them, they can be a useful resource.
This is a review, detailed measurements, listening tests and EQ of the Ugreen HiTune Max5c noise cancelling wireless headphone. It is on kind loan from a member and is on sale for $25.47 (retail $57).
The Max5c feels every bit as high quality as much, much more expensive wireless headphones...
the fucking what
Latest cheap audio meme
Goes as low as $25 on ali express
****, completely forgot about that. Basically the two categories of music I listen to are videogame OSTs and Alt Rock, I was only thinking of the former when describing what I was looking for.
The presets are a bit of a mess.
The jazz looks to be one of the better options
it was a meme man
tbh like
provided it comes with dsp
i dont think this is amazing
but then can you really ask anyone to go out of their way to eq things
Got it, you had me worried for a second.
Find me a better $25-$50 Bluetooth headphone
no?
Then it's the best option.
coping because ur bad
Is the sound blaster SB1500 a decent sound card?
Been messing abt with an old pc I have and took it out
its a sound card
Yeh I ain’t planning on using it, just wondering if others would outside of here
You have it in front of you. You tell us.
I wouldn’t know, it ain’t in the pc
N that pc is not useable rn
Would make a good paperweight then
I thought it was supposed to look like a square
Only if you're using a proper square wave generator
I'd rather not spend over 100 dollars on something I can't even hear. I'm fine with the under 16 I spent
Susvara was a mistake
xD
fortunately I got it super cheap, second hand, somehow brand new
can sell it off
It will if you happen to have the samples in the exact right phase angle. You can't hear the difference though, so it doesn't matter
its demonstrated in the video, let me see if I can find the timestamp
Its in the Gibbs effect section
I gtg so I can't go find the exact time right now
I already watched the whole video.
well then you should see why its not necessary to be a square wave right?
making it more squarey wouldn't make a difference because that would mean adding more harmonics that we can't hear anyways
Not before i watched the video
Ohhhhh I misread that
Doesn't help that i messed with the pot that handles someone to do with something. Oh well
I'm looking for a mixer ala GoXLR that shows up as multiple audio devices in Windows but has optical out so I can use my own DAC. Anyone know of such a thing?
why not just use your computers optical out?
Doing a virtual audio cable is definitely an option but it's not the most ideal
I would like to do it in hardware if it's an option
you shouldn't need a vac?
do you want to use the goxlr's 3.5 out and optical at the same time?
I want the mixed audio signal to be sent to the optical input on my DAC
The GoXLR has optical but it's an input only
its a software mixer
the sliders just change the volume on the windows mixer
the "mixed" signal is being produced by your computer, not the goxlr
so the goxlr literally just changes these
there is no real mixing happening
also its an overpriced piece of shit i dont think you should buy it
That's not exactly correct, the GoXLR shows up as a bunch of different audio devices
yes for its 3.5 out
and the xlr input
these are irrelevent to its mixing abilities
because it doesn't mix anything
it just changes the values I posted above
How do I get the output from one of the GoXLR's outputs to the optical out on my mobo then?
it should already?
It definitely does not
The only "outputs" that go back into Windows are the mic and broadcast stream mixes which show up as microphones
i think you can just get an x touch mini
then use midi mixer with it
sell the goxlr
get some 50$ interface
and profit like 200$
ig 50$ if its a goxlr mini
its not good enough of a product to keep especially now that its software support ended
What software would I use that shows up as a bunch of different discreet audio devices as Windows?
and also leads to this exact circumstance you mentioned
none, I am trying to understand why you would need that
at least within the alternative I've provided to you
Let's say I have a game, Discord, and Spotify all going at the same time. I want hardware sliders that adjust the volume of each of them
yes
you don't need discrete outputs for this
the windows mixer already can handle the volume of all of these discretely
and midi mixer controls that
the way goxlr adds like 4 inputs is like a completely stupid and unnecessary solution
there is an introduction video on midi mixers website, its like 3 minutes long, i recommend you watch that
I understand that I can do that per app, that would solve most of my problems but not all of them
you can group apps together too
just watch the video if you have any other questions ill answer them
https://www.midi-mixer.com
https://discord.midi-mixer.com
MIDI Mixer lets you control your app volumes with any MIDI device. It does a load of other cool stuff too, but I can't dance to those.
MIDI Mixer is a Windows app that helps you control the volumes of any application or device on your machine with any MIDI device. Great for streaming...
1:20 minute video
But for that example it looks like I have to manually assign an app to a knob
So for each different game I open I would have to go in and remap it
instead of manually assigning apps to devices you manually assign apps to knobs via software?
there is a focus mode
it changes volume of whatever window is up front
you can also press a knob inwards to assign it to whatever app is focused on
like in the video
I guess I will get one to play around with
It's still not hands off as my current setup but it might be good enough
it does most of what your setup already does
aside from outputting and inputting audio
With my GoXLR I don't have to do anything when I open a new game because it just gets routed to the default Windows audio device and I have nothing else using that device
So I will lose that but it will probably be fine
But thank you though, I had no idea something like this existed
you are welcome
I personally alt tab to manually add any programs to the massive list I have of games but maybe you'll find other methods more comfortable
Pushing the knob seems like an ok compromise
Right, which works if I do it each time
yes
id also not advise paying for this program
because the developer has been neglecting it for a long time
And I'm assuming it will remember levels for each game which would be nice
he has a subscription thingy that allows you to use plugins
well more than 1 plugin
which is completely unnecessary
@warm scarab So I ended up doing research all day and went in a different direction, I grabbed a RME Babyface Pro FS and a midi controller. It's waaaay overkill but I like that it's a hardware DSP instead and doesn't do anything on the host PC
And then from there, go optical out into my DAC
does anyone know of some bluetooth adapter that I can plug into a 3.5mm combo jack so that I can use my Sony XM4 headset for meetings and such? Bluetooth is disabled on that computer due to security (government agency supplied laptop). Or if there is some usb dongle that shows up as a wired usb headset (similar to the supplied USB Platronics headset, that murders your ears if you have glasses) that I can connect my XM4 to?
Ugreen makes one but it looks like it's kinda hard to get https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Bluetooth-5-0-Rec-r-Receiver/dp/B07TZ412J5
u think thisl also work on planes?
So, I just built a new gaming rig and I'm having trouble with audio. I have a nice 5.1 speaker setup with a receiver connected to my PC with SPDIF. It worked fine on the system I replaced but it looks like new Realtek (and/or Windows 11) doesn't support 5.1 on SPDIF anymore. I know SPDIF is so legacy it's not funny so I'm open to replacing the receiver with one that supports HDMI and putting it inline with my monitor as long as that doesn't cause a problem. Is that the solution? Or is there a good external/PCIe solution that would have an HDMI audio output?
normally hdmi is how you handle surround
the receivers typically have a passthrough so you can use their output and connect it to your monitor
if you dont want to do that you can get a usb to hdmi adapter
Would a usb HDMI adapter create a 'ghost display'?
yes
you'd just mark that monitor as "duplicate" screen
and that shouldnt drain system resources
probably
Got a trs to RCA cable was wondering where I connect it to my yama receiver. I'm connecting passive speakers to receiver and then to audio interface
i plugged it to line in
just wanted to know where to plug in the cabler
anything not a phono in
i got it working just wanted to make sure i had the best connection
I’d technically classify this post under here. Recently got a cheap RTL SDR and have really been enjoying it

i don't think you're supposed to do that
They’ve done enough car things that I can post this
It’s weird how pointing the subwoofer towards the back of the car makes it louder. You’d think the sound waves would escape
i think bass and sub reverbs super hugely
something like that, and thats why its so hard to dampen/isolate, and so hard to locate where it's coming from with your ear
its possible you were in a null spot, so by turning it around, the phase shift outweighed any lost sound waves
yo question, there is this bug with steelseries sonar where when you use it, if you disable the audio device it creates for you aka "steelseries sonar - gaming" it will re-enable itself when you start up windows again, im wondering if i uninstall that audio device will that permanenetly delete it?
not sure what you're asking here...
as far as i know, turning off sonar should just work
ill explain it better
situation: i need sonar because of its EQ and ai noise cancellation to use with a microphone
problem: when you use the sonar, it creates new audio devices on your pc, such as: Steelseries Sonar Microphone, however it doesnt just do this for the microphone, it does this for about 7 different things, now you can disable them, and then they wont show up, however when you restart windows, not only do they show up again after being disabled but they also default to the default audio driver for both your headphone and microphone
me and the people who use steelseries sonar for ONLY the microphone, have begged steelseries to make a version where it only defaults the mic input instead of both the mic and the headphones
so im wondering
if i uninstall all the audio devices it created for me, apart from the one i am using for my microphone
would that remove them permanently? instead of re-appearing again upon a computer restart
im not sure if this gave you a ping, since i just read your bio, so @terse river
oh yeah, hate steelseries for adding so much clutter to pc, i kinda just live with it now
however, ive been to lazy to fix it but i think there are ways
i think that in the settings menu (dont know the specifics, look it up on reddit or smth lol) you can make certain audio devices not show up
so i would just do that for all the devicees u dont want your pc to recognize
@true orbit
oh thank you
nah
use another software like rtx voice
or just add a noise gate vst to equalizer apo controlling your mic
directly solve the issue from the root
Erm, I don't think that's how you are supposed to use that sir
hey guys im having an issue with my headset/mic wondering if anyone can help, my headset is showing up as speakers and my mic is not showing up at all ive been through all the trouble shooters and control panel settings and cant figure it out
Are the Sundaras worth it for $120
those graphs are nice but how do they sound 😉
like hifiman
I was gonna get some he400se's but maybe these
the he400se at $65 are good value, but ig you're looking for something "slightly better" sure the sundaras are ok
may consider k361/k371, old ver. hd560s, pc37x, ft1 as well
$65?
Where you see that
aliexpress
They ate like $110
😬
pick the "bilateral" version of the he400se
the stealth is probably not worth the extra
I did look at those
They didn't seem to have the range
which range
there's also the lyxpro has-15 if you want something even cheaper, they measure great for the price
I'm seeing 1 star for them
amazon reviews and such aren't 100% indicate of quality
read the reviews to see what people actually say instead of just looking at the stars
no
save up for edition xs and an amplifier later on for it
Those are like double
tbh yeah they are like 200
but you dont buy headphones every other day and sundaras aren't very good to begin with
maybe buy hd560s and sundaras at the same time and return whichever you dislike, those should be 150$ ish
Has anyone bought the fake? It's been up for a while.
I don't think it's a fake, it's a small mic company and they're inexpensive, however still a weird listing. I guess it's worth checking it out.
i wouldnt buy it for sure
those 11 reviews scare me
oh quick question
I was gifted the razer serien v3 chroma a few months ago
and I wanted to ask how it holds up sound wise
obv theres better stuff for the money, but yknow, just wanna now how good it is flat out
Replying to my previous conversation about this in case the context is relevant, but the tl;dr is that I'm looking for new headphones, and I want to get ones with Active Noise Cancelling.
One of the headphones I'm looking at is the JBL Live 675NC. But I can't seem to find any reviews for it. I think it might be the same as the 670, just renamed because of Costco, but I'm not sure. (They were $70 when I looked in-store, if that's useful info)
no they dont
that was with mods
oh really, i thought it was just with velour pads
how do they sound stock then
which velour pads did you buy for them off ebay
what are you trying to accomplish? those headphones are all quite different
I believe it was these, but I can confirm it late tuesday when I get home https://www.ebay.com/itm/235563102063
but I also removed the damping cups from the knockoff m50x system and dremeled out the entire back
a couple holes could probably accomplish something similar
wouldnt be as open though
also they may be uncomfortable because the earpads are small in every dimension
and as its an m50x type headphone its subject to wildly different experiences
Alr
I have a list of headphones that iv'e been gathering up
That was just an option
@warm scarab
This is a list of headphones to avoid right?
That's what it looks like
Uh nooooo...... 🤨
💀
What 🤔
That's after a couple hours of watching reviews and tier lists, and other sites
And what has also been recommended to be so far
You got played by the content farms. Most of those headphones are pretty bad.
I forget but it was like 5-6 different videos lol
Also jumping around between closed and open backs too
Well disregard anyone shilling k92 or grados advice
I don't really care if it's closed or open
then stop looking at closed backs
Alr i'll remove those from the list
Something wrong with closed back
Is it that open back is just better?
Generally speaking I don't know anyone that prefers closed backs if good open backs are an option.
Much easier to make good open backs than good closed backs.
DCA Stealth
I don't know anyone that has a dca stealth as their main headphones
and this guy clearly isn't looking for 4k headphones
but this 3kHz area was indeed elevated
Grey coming in and creating his own conversation
sorry mb
but I'd prefer the DCA Stealth over an open back
@left verge get the Fiio FT1 Pro
and remove the Moondrop Joker from that list please 💀
Just remove the list
the only good headphone on that list is he400se, but it needs a good amp to be powered correctly
Me when I recommend a $100 headphone and a $600 amp as the best beginner setup under $200
Hello, can you help me? I'm am looking for faithful successor to Sony's XB line of headphones. I am currently still using MDR XB500, I upgraded to XB950n in 2019 but they broke down recently. I don't need wireless headphones. I am looking for something wired with 40mm drivers. Good noise suppression is not necessary, I will be using them with my laptop in home without standalone dac.
i mean
compared to the things in that list aside from he400se and k361
you do make the sundara look like a miracle
What constitutes as a "faithful successor?"
Also are you sure you need 40mm drivers?
In this case faithful successor would be something with bassy characteristics I think.
XB500 and XB950n were equipped with the 40mm drivers, I thought they are necessary to achieve frequency respond curve I want.
Sarcasm
I mean, for how iv'e seen them go for they look like a good deal
But that is deceiving
Driver size has very little to do with sound signature.
You might like the hermonicdyne eris. People always talk about how bassy it is.
How good of an am would i need?
Just so you know, a lot of people who go deep into planar magnetic headphones overstate how much power they need. So you can never get a consistent logical answer to this question.
So really you don't need much. I had a fosi ds1 powering some of the hardest to power headphones in the world and it did fine. Although it was a bit quiet.
I'll keep that in mind
The more and more i hear about amps, the more i'm just thinking about just getting one
Audiophile drivers and equalizers can only do so much lol
I'm never gonna tell someone to not get an amp if they want one.
But Im just saying that a lot of people overstate how important the amplifier is to the quality of a headphone. Especially when it comes to planars.
It's borderline gaslighting. "Oh you didn't like this headphone? You weren't powering it correctly. You need this other amplifier that nobody ever buys to power it correctly"
I'm ranting
So my realtek would probably be fine?
It would definitely be usable.
There are some piss poor mother board audio chips out there. It's hard to say what's in your motherboard because this isn't something they really give much useful information on in the spec sheet.
afaik its not nearly as big of an issue as it is with iems, which is where I see the most complaining happen
iems are so small
Iems can pick up hissing a lot easier and sometimes wacky stuff can happen with output impedance
But also sometimes the output just sounds bad.
But good news! If you already use your motherboard audio, your baseline is unchanged. Good headphones off a bad source will almost always sound better than bad headphones off a bad source.
There's zero reason to overspend and buy everything at once.
It has an ALC897
Alr, thx for the advice
Technically that list is obsolete now lol
The top 2 recommended iv'e seen are the 9600s and those he400se's
Hello!
I'm having some troubles with a pair of headphones of mine not giving out audio.
Realtek is saying that the headphones are plugged in and its pretty much ready to go.
I do have a aux cable plugged into them to extend the headphone's cable length but its also TRRS (Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve).
Does anyone know what's going on?
Detes on the Headphones:
- They're Sentey Thor X LS-4430 HD Headphones
- The aux cable is a PowerDewise
So, did a few tests of mine.
The headphones only give audio when I plug the headphone's cable directly to my PC.
When testing for audio with the PowerDewise cable attached, it says there's audio playing, but can't hear it.
Also, @lost lynx, from what I can tell, I don't have a seperate option in the advanced settings.
set a #1027757333117415424 thread up and we'll do it there
I really did hate the 9600s. So they get a thumbs down from me.
Sennheiser 560s, 6xx, and fiio ft-1 should be on your list too.
From Philips?
Yes.
It sounded thin and bloated at the same time. Wasn't a fan.
Get Fiio FT1 pro over he400se
It's like 40% better
I would hope if it 2x as much
Nah progression is not that rapidly
Diminishing returns kick in hard around 300 USD
No i'm saying i hope that would be better if it's over $100 more
Ah yeah unfortunately it doesn't work like that, tho 40% better is still quite a lot when it comes to audio. It will be very noticeable.
how did the r30x come to exist on this list
It was one that was recommended
by who?
a headphone that doesnt exist or hasnt been heard cannot have review information
I made a post about this in r/headphones and it was a reply
and it still cannot have review information if said person hasnt compared it to a bunch of other heaadphones and publishes their observations piecewise
"good" is not piecewise
there is a reason headphone reviews are 15 minutes long
I think the headphone was at canjam?
Tho a good review should take 2 weeks of constant listening
If they go for a heavy sale, ill add them
its worse than r70x
about -40 times
refer to gray's comment and of course better/worse being meaningless and misleading in reviews
I think these $40 lyxpro headphones are "better" than the edition xs , not just value-wise but outright as if they were the same price
That poor generator has seen some abuse, lol.
Which one should I get? Money isn't a problem (As long as its under $400)
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/843940126106320922/1343914936958586954/image.png?ex=67bf01d1&is=67bdb051&hm=758f71cceba16a59eb624f61f14511bf2601bdc4102aa6fc16fa05aeef15d111&
momentum out of these two
but that's a useless, unspecific, and subjective statement
which one do you think is better?
decided to go for budget earphones because i've already lost 2 sony linkbuds s.
i use a nothing phone 2
Why those two
the cycle of "which is better" when its subjective?
People getting stuck with bad advice because they ask bad questions
yeah pretty much
I essentially gave the answer which was immediately followed by the same question
anyone got any decent wireless headphone recommendations which support 2.4ghz and bluetooth with both being usable at the same time
currently got hyperx cloud 2 wireless and only 2.4ghz lowkey sucks when I facetime with my girl when we game
was looking at corsair virtuoso xt's but don't really wanna mess with corsair's software cuz it's ass
I do not care about the headphones mic quality if it comes with it since I have a Rode xlr podmic
No Arctis tho I hate their headphones
I don't like the headband thing they have
I saw some ppl recommending jbl quantum 800
battery seems like ass though only 14 hours
also preferably something with a detachable mic or a retractable one so it isn't in the way
budget?
audeze maxwells are decent
or are these too much
Ay caramba i am not spending 400 bucks on headphones 😭
Idk give me something at 70€-150€ price range I'm looking to get em used
There's corsair virtuoso xt's for sale for 85€ and Arctis 9's for 50€ both brands that I don't like but they have what I want and for reasonable prices
Hmm corsair virtuoso xt goes for almost 300€ but can be gotten used for 85€
16hr battery 💔
Ah it's like 4yrs old makes sense why it's so cheap on the used market
hmm
Razer blackshark v2 pro for 50€
supports both 2.4ghz and bluetooth
and is also good but with shit software guh
I found one for 30€ ulala
nvm im dyslexic
was the v2 x for 30€
70 hours battery too
double of my hyperx wireless 2 ulala
@livid ruin razer blackshark v2 pro for 50€ sound good?
i wouldn’t personally buy them
guh
maybe g435 if you don’t care about build quality for a dirt cheap 2.4ghy headphone
i think it does support bt
it does
just checked
wasn't expecting a lowend headset to have allat
and only 18hr battery
gulp
half of my hyperx cloud 2's battery and I already struggle with it's battery
well, at this price point 2.4ghz headphones are like that if you want somewhat ok sound
i don’t think you’ll get much better if you already own a pair of working cloud 2’s
oh
well, so probably the g435 but if you say the battery cap. is not enough then i don’t know
when you also don’t want arctis
jbl offrerings are solid that you mentioned it
but unsure about the quantums particularly
from what i've heard great audio quality but my main gripe with it is poop battery
i wouldn’t say great but better than most gaming headsets
what about using cloud 2’s for gaming and something from jbl with just bluetooth
i need both at the same time
hm
my girl likes to use facetime to talk while we play at the same time
so getting the audio from my facetime and the audio from my computar game at the same time to the same headset would be sexy
the one I looked at was the 2020 model there's a 2023 model for 70€ I could probably haggle it down to 50 + shipping or 60€ + shipping
bigger battery will be a massive plus for me since 2.4ghz and bluetooth will chomp on the battery
well, up to you, i wouldn’t personally pay that much for a razer headphone
they’re not atleast total garbage
when it comes to sound
the 2023 should be better
currently it's my best choice
i would probably wait for someone to recommend something, i wouldn’t say they’re good you live in the finland* right?
hyperx cloud 2
there you go
not your best choice anymore
Anybody know of any good wireless headsets (or headphones) that use hotswappable batteries like the arctis pro wireless
PSB M4U 8 Mk 2 or B&O H9i are probably your best options, but you're going to pay a premium for the build quality, audio quality and swappable batteries.
Anyone know why the newest shortcircuit on the headphone amp got taken down? I was half way through watching it yesterday and it still isn't back up. I haven't seen anyone talking about what happened or why.
Hi i'd like to know more about IEMs, does anyone know a cheap budget pair for me to try out? (im currently using a logitech g pro x with the USB DAC on these EQ settings.) but the headset stopped working Lol
Edit: i realise i have a pair of WH-1000xm3's lying around, might just use those
but that's what I have currently
and it's not what I want
it doesn't support bluetooth
will you play games with bluetooth?
no but I will use it for calls
then just get another pair of headphones for work use instead of desktop use
you are trying to fit multiple features into a headphone when you have a 70€ ish budget
like I explained above I would use bluetooth for facetime audio and 2.4ghz for game audio since everytime I play with my girlfriend she likes to speak on facetime so we get to see each other and play at the same time
both bluetooth and 2.4ghz would be used at the same time
not sure about the interrupting but it's advertising being able to use bluetooth and 2.4ghz at the saame time
well it doesn't
gulp
a headphone would have to have a mixer or a processor of some kind in it to get that to work
and it would probably eat up a ton of battery
what you could do is to get a real mixer
and then plug your phone into one end and your computer into the other
then your headphone to the output
presuming your headphone isn't wireless
how much do mixers cost usually
im unsure
at least when it comes to the lowest end
you could just sort by lowest price and get something functional probably
a headphone doesnt need a complicated circuit to have bt and rf work at the same time
it needs 4 resistors
it is completely possible
No, the artis pro wireless does this
I take calls while having surround sound games
yeah but then you are stuck having artis pro wireless
Real
Nah I kinda like the headset for what it is, just stupid price
And terrible software
sounds too bad for what it costs
ok question here
ive got an avrx2700h
from denon
and i have a 3.1 setup but my center is really bad, so i want it to play in 2.1
how do i do that without spending 30 minutes with the audyssey mic doing setup, just with the center unplugged
i also cant do it software with my program, bc spotify doesnt let me just play in stereo
any advice for xlr interfaces
unplug center
Told to post here but looking for headphones at around $200
Here's the OP
am pissed off at my headphones. My HD450BTs broke recently so I wanted to upgrade to the Momentum 4 Wireless. It has sticker residue on it, terrible battery life, and pauses my music every 10 seconds.
What should I get for around $200? ANC required and good for commuting. Listen to podcasts and music. I have some sensitivity to sound quality as I have a HD6XX at home.
fun fact some people believe you cant really hear frequencies under 30hz ish
standard options are probably your best bet if youre just looking for features
standard options?
id hit probably something like bose or sony or apple thats what everyone does
or just any of their identical competitors
bose is like $500 LMAO. Apple too
the question is whether to get "renewed" headphones off of Amazon/Walmart. 50% off which brings some of them into my price range
im sure renewed is fine
i dont really buy new anyways my main headphones i got open box
and i buy a lotta used pairs too generally
i never buy new though
I've had bad experiences with those though. I tried to get a renewed Apple Watch and got a stolen one all 3 times
i like ebay since they have buyer protection
youd get your money back in that situation
I got a "brand new" Momentum 4 Wireless off of Ebay but I don't know whether to return them
I don't really know whether they're fake
ebay returns to hurt the seller a little more than like an amazon return
Because the audio pauses every fucking 10 seconds
those dont look like theyd be faked do you have any indication that they would be
THey also don't connect to the app but that might be a bug
also these are evil wireless issues i have to say it but wired wouldnt have these issues
Also the battery is shit. It was at 90% then 50% after 5 hours
like this is their flagship model
thats pretty decent
they advertise 30+ hours
It may be a bug they updated but the app won't connect
Which other peopl ehave trouble with so not saying that means its a fake
i mean it happens thats how it is sometimes
try hard resets on everything if you want
ok
Take a look at the Ugreen max5
it depends on the person
like 24 hz or something i cant hear
