One CD
I wonder if the Stereo tracks are just the Multi-Channel tracks with some channels ignored
That's just the Multichannel
I realise an SACD isn't really "Just a CD", but that's more than 1 SL BD...
They're different waveforms...
@unique wind were you aware of this
michaelphone
nop ive never seen those
they look goofy aesthetically
He's doing a special edition soon
auribus is a goofy name too
looks like fantastic bass and midrange performance for an openback but that treble could be concerning
A special edition Sierra Open Monitor commemorating the 5th year anniversary of the original Auribus project. We've come a long way since the beginning in 2019. Thank you for coming along in this journey, as we continue to work at creating a new class of headphones. This is our best headphone ever, now with a premium
Nah it's good.

Want to ask how the Kenwood KL-555s Stereo Speakers might compare to the wharfadale 80th anniversary or the elac dbr62s, as I have a chance to pick up the kenwoods for 150, which seems nice right now considering how much trouble I am having gettting the others for prices i want. Anyway yeah just curious cause i have no idea what im doing
also i think the kenwoods look fucking sick so
yea
I am of the personal philosophy that the fewer drivers a speaker can get away with, the better.
The 555 looks like it has quite a few so I am suspicious
Or skeptical, rather.
I haven't heard it. But if you hear it in person and you like it, then go for it
yeah like i said i have no idea what im doing
Ask for a demo
heres the problem
i havent heard the elacs or wharfadeles either
so i wouldnt know what is good
this is my very first time going into nicer speakers
Well. If you hear it. And you like it. And you're willing to pay money for it. And you cant get anything better for cheaper. Then it's good.
For $150 all I can think of is like, maybe some diy Dayton speakers and edifier.
i mean, I was looking for something of dbr62 or wharfadale 80th quality but if i find ousomewhere that these kenwoods are like 80% of that or something, im willing to spend 500 bucks less and upgrade in a few years yknow
Samba MT Bookshelf Speaker Kit with Knock-Down CabinetSamba MT Bookshelf Speaker Kit with Knock-Down CabinetDesigned by the engineers at Dayton Audio, the Samba speaker kit is a compact 2-way bookshelf speaker that provides a reference quality sound without the usual high price. The Sambas produce an extremely detailed and accurate sound while s...
but if im buying hot garbage like i did with my current speakers then i dont wanna
All these are is gluin' and screwin'
thing is im not afraid to pay 500-550 bucks on speakers, but if i can save 400 to hold me off a couple years while i get the rest of my setup up to snuff im willing to do that, just dont wanna be getting too little quality
Then get these and hold off
ok me gots a question
doing a little more research on the elacs and the kenwoods they wont have very good nearby performance (i think)
so any recs for some midrange drivers with better nearby performance/
does anyone here own a subwoofer
i’m just curious if you guys are able to hear any vocals, even faint, from your subwoofer
Anyone else's speakers just move by themselves?
get some foam bruh
no foam is crazy
what size is that woofer
is that aluminum
Five and a quarter inch
according to them it's cerametallic
what kind of foam? there's a but of like cork under it already
get some foam under that thing
how’s the bass on those
is it fine without a sub for music
not amazing i've got a sub
I mean good ig for bookshelf
is the sub adjacent to the table
doesnt compare to a sub obviously
i got isolation pads from amazon
what sub
no it's behind me in the back of the roojm
basscube 10s
get something like these, use the tilt to point the tweeters at your ears
should also fix moving
cool thanks
yea these are good too. they can tilt either way
👍 thanks
those aren't angled
don't get those
wait nvm
its just a bad picture
they do have a cut in
barely visible
i have a question. do you hear full range from your subwoofer or just bass? my sub is playing full range
subs do bass? im not sure i understand the qustion
my sub doesnt have tweeters or anything
do you hear the music from your sub
you should get a shit ass vintage equalizer for like 10$ on ebay to dampen the highs you get on the sub
rythmik is giving me a label so they can check out the sub
nice
yea i hope it’s an issue that’s solvable
yea music comes out of the sub but just the bass
yea not on mine
i’m hearing everything
provided they are looking at it, its likely a malfunction
so the warranty should cover it
i hope. i hope it’s something faulty
like a whole ass speaker?
you have a 80hz lowpass and that was definitely above 80hz
and i told him my set up (support guy)
yep
could running through external dac without a sub out maybe override the lpf?
that doesn’t make sense tho
the amp itself has a filter
does the cutoff on your speaker do nothign?
i mean it does, but i still hear it
it’s just faint
either way, not good for the longevity of the subwoofer
it’s also playing muddier because it’s doing more work
still, it bangs
hmm
this thing is so loud though. i don’t go past 50% volume
12” sub in a 11x13 room is crazy
i’m still in my return trial. i got the sub a few days ago. worst case if they can’t fix, i’ll just return
They ain't gonna reply
oh they're muted lol
wonder why
The government wants to keep them down
Anyone here knows how I can eliminate a constant squeeky noise coming out of my studio monitors? Pair of yamaha HS5 connected to HS8 studio woofer with Rodecaster Duo interface connected to my MBP. Rodecaster duo is powered via a noise eliminator, the noise was worse without it.
Noise could be coming from anywhere along the audio chain.
Can't really eliminate it without knowing for sure where it's coming from.
Start unplugging stuff and swapping stuff until you're confident you can isolate it
I'll give it a shot, thanks!
Anyone got any recommendations for analog Speakers+DAC budget around 200-300 quid it’s just for home system not needing anything flashy
We have a little record player that has an analog port on the back of it so I’m wondering abt getting speakers for it
does the record player have a preamp
I think so it has a volume/power knob on the front
If that’s it
hey has anyone tried Bitwig on Linux (DAW) and is it worth the price?
you dont have a spot in your record player chain where you can place a dac
also what range is this system for
desk or living room kind of space
Living room sort of space
There’s only 3 ports on it I was having a look last night 1 white n red analog port and a headphone out jack
yes and depends, it feels a bit awkward , try the demo first, if its your first daw , it wont matter that much, but if your used to something like ableton or cubase , its weird it tries to do something in between or so... anyway i run Ableton12 /Cubase5 /Flstudio20 in linux using wine without much problems
(using wineasio)
okay, I'm using FL Studio with Wine/Bottles but native program could be better
Ardour is a bit tricky to learn
also I have considered Renoise (super cheap, like 70€)
only advice i can give is (and i do have a lifetime licence for flstudio , and a licence for ALS) but you want to look for the cracked versions , if not only for the fact that everytim there is a kernel update or a wineuptdate , you will lose your activation, wich will become a pain ofc, so if you look for the cracks no issue with that and , it makes it not calll home every start up and improves stabillity actuallly
if you use wineasio and pipewire,(similar to jack ) i get crazy low latency , and i run it in a custom wineprefix, cant say i feel much difference with windows actually , even use flstudio as VST inside ableton 🙂 , some vst's wont work it seems but the once i use most no problem (something like a nexus seems to fail dunno why but a A.N.A. works just fine
the activation license really janks when updating?
yeah , not because of wine but because the software thinks you changed pc hardware or so ...
oh, hmm that sucks
owe o the reasons i use a dedicated prefix with non systemwine to run it all 🙂
meh i just go to magesy.be or so and find the software get what i need from the packages and FLstudio isnt gonna complain since well i bought Fruitlyloops 3 back in the day with a lifetime licence that included updates 😄
https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio/lifetime-free-updates/ , theyre from my homecountry so (and Deadmau5 worked for them at some point before he was famous :p)
best vst host to , the only ones that mix VST2 3 32 and64 bit one ever since i can remember
yeah VSTs work really well even with Wine
lemmy plug myself , if you happen to have ableton , i made some devices in max 😄 https://maxforlive.com/profile/user/2WeaK
The Free Library of Max for Live Devices
nah I've avoided Ableton
yeah needs a bit getting used to and you really need to have the options.txt decked out, but on the onther hand , their midiremote scripts are written in python so you can hack your own midicontroller and add stuff it shouldnt be able to do 🙂
Add a live meter bridge and many more modes to your APC40 with this python script. Download it for free here:

Read more about this script and get instructions here:

Based on Hans Petro...
bitwig has a demo for linux so you can give it a go without coughin up any cash :https://www.bitwig.com/download/
id recommend klipsch promedia because of the dedicated sub you get
otherwise it would be jbl305p but i fear the bass wouldn't be sufficient depending on room size
use reaper honestly
one of the most advanced DAWs there is and its completely free
essentially most of the daws like reaper, cubase, flstudio and ableton can do anything the other ones can do but more/less conveniently so its mostly about which is the best for your workflow
I do like FLstudio but I'm open to different ways of making music
the Grid in Bitwig is really interesting
use the trial version if there is one ig
but there is not much reason to switch to anything from flstudio if it provides you all the utility you need
well FL doesn't integrate super well on Linux with Wine but otherwise it's usable.. Reaper and Ardour are kinda weird to me.. I will try them all and see what clicks best with time and effort
fl aside, most daws are kind of the same thing but with a different ui
fl was initially a plugin for cubase but people made so much use of it to the point they didnt even need to use cubase anymore so it became a standalone software
so fl is very limited but easy and practical for the uses its designed for and any other general use daw aside from it is more advanced but also the same as other daws in the same category
fl started as a drum machine. and it's just as advanced as the other daws
has plenty of features the others don't, but that's true of every daw
that not true of every daw lol
most daws are literally the same thing but different processes to establish the desired result
and its up to the user to decide which of those daws fit the workflow the most
some are better for live, some are better for automation, some are better for being drum machines
if there is an outlier to this its FL but its still similar enough
there are functionalities unique to each daw that make them more optimized for those tasks
for example, FL has the ability to automate automation. other daws like ableton, pro tools, cubase etc. don't
this opens up possibilities and controls that can only be roughly estimated with tons of hours of work in other daws
as bad as trying to draw a synthesizer sound by hand
can you define automating automation
rate, crop, slope, upper bound, lower bound
that's the ways automation can be automated
but through those you can also do things like adjusting the curvature
and fl has crazy control schemes made possible by formula controller and patcher
and peak controller
that's a pretty simple one
not that it does anything, just looks cool
im unsure how to put this into a context but yeah
currently deciding between the razer baracuda x and the arctis nova 5 for a new headset. anyone have experience with either?
the arctis nova 5 is definitely a better option but for $50 more ehhh. baracuda x is on what seems like a permanent sale at $80 and the nova 5 is anywhere from $110 to $130
baracuda is ewaste tier
unsure about nova 5 but being steelseries i wouldnt count on the quality
i do remember nova 7 is decent for steelseries standards though
Does anyone else use a blue microphone? I have had it for years with zero problems
🎉 congratulations
thank you, I have been very happy with it and my friends apprieciate it lol
Suggestions for TWS? Unlimited budget, priority is sound quality and comfort
Packed with an unbelievable 18 balanced armature drivers per ear, the A18t is our top-of-the-line reference in-ear monitor. This industry-first design pushes the limits of what a reference monitor can be with incredible detail, extension, and unmatched clarity across all frequencies with a powerful low-end and extended
use these with fiio utws5
I'd check some reviews on the high-end Sony, Jabra, Sennheiser and Samsung buds
personally I've had good experience with Sennheiser and Jabra
crazy how airpod pros are all the way at the bottom
rtings arbitrary asf rating system strikes again
hmm yes today I will use the speaker bass target and the diffusion target for the ideal headphone
hmm I would check various sources for reviews like tom's hardware, pcmag and trusted reviews.. also there are tons of youtube videos about TWS buds
or you can just ask us
between klaus and i we have accumulated the various opinions of discord's worst morons
measured sound
not rugged for a pro headphone
yes professional bluetooth headphone
the first thing that comes to my mind when I see a bt headphone
my advice is don't buy the cheapest ear buds.. I got the JBL Tune Flex (40 euros) and i really regret the buy
its a problem when i drop my TWS and they flop out of the case sending them skittering across the floor
you could solve the issue just by buying good earbuds for 40€ instead of bad ones
oh :>
are any of them worth jackshit aside from spacetravel
when did they release BT buds 😮
pretty long while now
idk. knowing moondrop most of them are probably worth it.
moondrop sparks were out at 2021
im pretty sure most of these are the same pair
but different decorations and collabs
aside from nekocakes
nah this one doesnt make a seal
and sparks
I wonder if they ship to Nordic countries
which one is that
MOONDROP BLOCK
cool
but why would I want this over iems
very silly
also wtf
130$ for neckband
the point of those is having extra space for fitting cheap manufacturing what is the point if it costs more than buying any iem with tws adapters
more security, more battery life,
get the airpod earrings
get the glue
🤓
that design is so prone to breaking
it doesnt look very assuring to me either
its probably made by dumb people like nils
if it were me i would have made it 10x as big and able to power headphones
the sennheiser surrounder
Any hammond experts know what could be causing:
^Fuzz upon power on (there is also a rotor spinup sound im aware)
^Popping and crackling
^And lastly the signature attackiness seems to be lacking
Is a recap a good place to start?
wired.
theyre cheap and good, what more could you possibly want
a battery that wears out and cant be replaced?
honestly i might need to get a pair of these for on the go
if i order in 12 minutes it comes tomorrow wtf
anyone know why if i peak my microphone in games my window's settings get changed to a lower input volume?
when i leave the game, it goes back to what it was
it's annoying when streaming because people can't hear me unless i quit the game and rejoin
i tried uninstalling the games in question, and uninstalling steam (reinstalling them back) and that didn't work. I turned off any setting that "allows applications to take exclusive control of (my mic)" and tested it on other games. Like Valve games (CS2, L4D2, TF2) don't have this issue. I open up Helldivers 2 and Halo: MCC and this thing happens.
It’s so inconsistent with games. Like some games have no problems while others do. Never had this problem before.
I’m going to fresh install and see what happens after that
try it while turning off "Automatically determine voice sensitivity" in the discord settings
Give me a moment
I’ll let you know what happens, however, it only happens when a game is open. If I quit discord so it’s not running, and tested it then, that would determine if Discord is causing it
some specific games can mess with the mic levels
like cs go
I would have noticed it before, then. Because I tried as much as I could with CS2 and it didn’t change the input volume. It did with helldivers though
Is that normal
I dont have this issue with hd2 id presume its what nils mentioned
does your microphone come with any software
if it does it mess with that or uninstall it completely
No. Base microphone. USB
what brand is it
Blue Snowball. I had recently replaced it with a new microphone, a Blue Yeti, and that one had the same issue
did you return the yeti
very good idea
I even uninstalled the driver for my microphone, restarted, and it still happened
turn off "enable audio enhancements" for your microphone
I made sure
But there are tutorials on YouTube that talk about settings that no longer exist
they all do, some of them are just more difficult to access
because win11 ui is stupid asf
"we are replacing the control panel for real this time but not really"
fuck microsoft they couldnt carry over functions of one panel from 2005 to another in 10 years
anyhow
click on this thing in sound settings, go to recording devices, properties of your mic, turn off audio enhancements
turn this off also
I did those things already
at this state I would go over every program running in the background and their settings
check helldivers ingame settings maybe
this is the stupidest thing ever
if you adjusted the mic volume in-game it may be adjusting the output from the windows devices rather than internally processing it
if that doesnt work either honestly format windows
not necessarily
there are ways to keep everything including programs on your windows but only reinstall the os
apparently that setting is supposed to turn off AGC for all games
id do that before doing a clean install
i like to minimize any errors
i would rather work from a clean slate, and reinstall everything, than to try and keep everything and have another issue
i have a backup storage device, anyways.
your call
The stupidest thing is that nothing on my computer could be running except for the game and it still happens
And when I quit the game, it goes back to where it was before
Helldivers seems to be changing the volume gain setting of my microphone to the point where no one can hear me. Has anyone else experienced this and figured out a way to disable it? This affects other apps like discord as well. I use a yeti nano mic with LG blue software enabled. one workaround: since HD2 changes the gain of the "default comms d...
yeah, huh
well, honestly
i should probably hold off on doing a fresh install at this point
i was preparing myself to do so, i got all my installers downloaded for ease of use, and i backed up everything important
in hd2
i already do
literally, it will do it WITHOUT me pressing the "mic" button
i can just scream into the mic when the game is on the loading screen on startup
it will instantly do it
i already reached out to arrowhead and steam support about this
maybe a clean hd2 install instead
killzone armors are on superstore 6 hours later better hurry
i did a clean install
it still happened
which is why i was leaning to a fresh install of windows
i uninstalled steam, which deleted all my games, and then i brought them all back and it still occurred.
Anyone have any recommendation for 6.5 inch 100rms speakers? I used alpine SPR 60C series (250$-300$ a pair), but after like 10 years and alot of humidty, they're in terrible shape (also some other accidents again). My car is like 10 years old and I don't wanna drop 600$ in new speakers and upgrading the amp and all of that.
Anyone have any recommendation?
this is the amp that I have, do note, it says 60w / 85 RMS, but my car, it was sort of impossible to bypass the factory amp, don't know the math on it, but 100rms seemed to work
hmm should I get the Samsung Buds FE over Sony WF-C700N? the Samsung Buds are on discount right now (60€/$)
so i need new headphones and i dont know anything about audio
budget is about 450 aud/280 usd for the entire setup
hd560s is on sale for 250 aud / ~150 usd
@lean grove loves to give free support
560s is fine. If you wanna be fancy you can get a little DAC to go along with it but otherwise you should be good to go.
i will be using it 99% for gaming/yt
oh also i need a microphone too
probably should have mentioned that earlier
budget is just for headphones though
but would prefer if both can fit in that budget
Samonson Q2U or a ATR2100X
with a boom arm
how much would a boom arm be?
at least $20
but the cheaper ones can damage your desk. so either get a nice one or get a sacraficial chunk of wood to take the brunt of it
both the microphones are usb?
and XLR
so you can use USB until you want to upgrade to xlr and keep the same exact mic
ive got the q2u
why do i need a boom arm though why not just have it on my desk
sorry for ping lol
you are gonna whack it reaching for something or ur keyboard and its very directional so its gotta be like right there
atleast q2u
becuase when you have it on your desk it will be picking up your desk noises just as well as your voice. friends will love the sound of your keyboard and mouse.
im tryna think about how id have it set up so it wouldnt be blocking my monitors though
do you have 3?
two
is one centered?
if so bring it in from side opposite the 2nd monitor and keep it relatively low to the desk
while sitting up i can give myself enough height for keyboard reaching and low enough it sits visually well below the bottom bezel of my monitor
right one is in the middle
but i wouldnt be able to mount it to the right of the monitors cuz thats where my desk ends
q2u and art2100x seem basically the same
indeed
do i just go for cheaper one?
sure
and its entirely up to you if you want a boom arm. you can just not buy the boom arm and see if you can make it work without one
just decide later
is hd6xx worth it?
yes.
i just got my first pair of open back headphones
wait idk if i can buy it for msrp here
does it need an amp?
not really
huh seems my current headphones are actually really heavy
currently listening to these
just got them
did you try the light blue eartips with the small hole
no, how come? im using the red ones since that's what it came with by default and it is very painful changing them
i cant tell what the purpose is for each different one, i can only see like 2 sizes visually
I liked the light blue ones because it nails the midrange and slightly tightens the bass
if you're already happy with the sound though there's no need to change them
I've been going mad trying to find a stereo RCA cable to 3.5mm cable where both of the rca's can go far enough apart to connect to my speakers, does anyone know what i need to search to find what i need XD
It's literally just so I can connect my switch to my A4V's
the cheap ones do, they're essentially zipper cable and can be split apart as much as you want
ive looked on amazon and it doesn't look like they can split
thats amazing thank you, i just need to find that but in uk amazon so i dont pay crazy delivery haha
yeah they seem a little bit bassy especially on the kicks, let me try it
this is not going to be fun
any advice for putting on tips easier
got them on
oh god i think theyre too small
i might have to go through all of that again
light blue might make it a bit better
either that or my placebo because it looks better (i have the blue version of the actual iem)
thats good enough reason for me to keep these ones
for some reason these sound way louder than my truthear zero red, even though they actualy have more impedance?
these are pretty good though

That looks like a really cheap and nasty amplifier board for such an expensive speaker
No-name 85C rated capacitors, no effort made to isolate against vibrations
are there any decent speaker systems within 70$ that i could use for my gaming pc
monitor does not have speakers
higher sensitivity
truthear zero red is very inefficient
yeah eartips are a pain to change
oh i kinda assumed sensitivity would sort of manifest itself in the impedance
i guess thats not how it works?
well wait, the zero red lists Sensitivity: 117.5dB/Vrms @1KHz
my zero 2 box says 108 dB/V @1KHz (its in chinese so im just assuming thats the right field)
times like this i wish i owned an oscilloscope
sus
so it's based on ohms when they say db/v
the actually fair metric for sensitivity is db/mw
the current at 17.5 ohms 1 volt (zero reds) is 57mA, and since it's 1v the power is also 57mw
the power with the zero 2's is 31mw
a doubling of power(mw) is +3db
feels like 10 dB but that probably is right
31 to 57mw is 0.8787 of a doubling
I turn it from 22 to like 26% on the apple dongle
well wait
those aren't dB values
for some reason pipewire percentages are horribly nonlinear to the ear
so 0.8787*3db added to 108 makes 110.6db for the zero 2's, versus 117.5db for the zero reds
that's now a power for power equal comparison
uh however
that would mean the zero 2's would be a lot quieter
I imagine they're getting these odd numbers by the zero reds being 1khz boosted and the zero 2's 1khz recessed at least with the red tips
which means the sensitivity measured at 1khz is not a good way to compare the loudness and effiency for either of these
I see
the zero reds are quieter in my experience too
ye both
Nice
not sure which I like more actually
I still think I like the reds more but not 100% sure its not because they're more expensive
it feels like the reds are more open?
the zero reds are spacious and airy, just good soundstage shenanigans in general. tight bass, fairly detailed
ye
the zero 2's though I really like for their midrange and fine detail
i think it also was more balanced between all different kinds of mixing, so nothing ever sounded bad
A couple of songs on the zero 2 felt weird
Rush - Middletown Dreams at the beginning feels like its super close to your ear
hm
maybe the difference of spaciousness
I like the reds because I hate kicks that are very noticeably punchy
Does anyone know a good pair of wireless earbuds with heavy base
i dont kno that such earbuds exist
Chances are, there's probably a zip file with all the WAV file formats, but im stubborn, im gonna convert this one song over and over...
The phone plays 32-bit WAV, but refuses to play the same format as FLAC. and as the sample rate goes up, there's more static
Why do you need 32bit audio?
Why do people need to ask my why I "need" things?
Because it is silly for reproduction
Some people want what they don't need just because
hence the existence of 192khz playback
:troll:
you are essentially splitting the budget for more outputs and features you will never utilize with a stereo system
Stereo is 2 speakers right?
yes
Left and right
you got a system that supports 9 channels
I have a 5.1 setup with plans to increase to 7.1
I’m just getting these to upgrade
Bc my avr right now sucks and so do my left and right
thing is you dont just mix in random speakers to create surround
those come calibrated with specific frequency response tunings
These aren’t surround
yes
These are replacing my left and right
from what you said I gathered that you will include those two speakers in your end surround setup?
as the left and right
Yes..
yeah thats what I am saying
speakers and sattelites in a surround setup come calibrated to reproduce certain frequencies so you avoid phasing
those are two full range speakers
you shouldn't be throwing in random speakers into a surround setup unless you know what you are doing
is what I am trying to say
does your avr support that?
and even in practice if it does, those speakers are 500$ for the peforming well in stereo
so in a surround setup you may just be using a limited portion of their performance to avoid phasing which raises the question why this and not a 50$ speaker instead
Uhhh
Idk what ur saying to be honest
Is phasing when the speakers are out of phase and makes dips in quality and volume?
those speakers are built to produce the entire frequency spectrum by themselves
and you are placing them in a system that actively demerits from that
if you calibrate them, they will work but provided you are not utilizing them to their fullest for the purpose they were built for, you are receiving massive diminishing returns
does this help
Ok I get it I think
in any case I'd like to add, aside from movies and videogames there are no benefits to having surround sound
because 99% of music is mixed in stereo and doesn't have surround channels
so you are going to use surround for movies and gaming but stereo for music?
Ig?
I mean it would work
that wouldn't be a terrible idea, and it would make the avr make sense since you still got a surround setup
Can someone Tell me a good Bluetooth speaker under 100 bucks for good Bass?
Amazon is a beautiful place my friend
no idea man
Anyway, these speakers will be primarily for music, but also some gaming or movies
Oh also zoom
I can’t wait for 9.2 zoom
the cables look real short,, is that the case? if so are there ways to extend them
Which cables? I linked to a site containing many speakers...
creative pebbled
s*
Depends. Some of the cables are not detachable - those ones won't be extendable. Not easily at least.
https://ca.creative.com/p/speakers/creative-pebble-pro
Ok
thanks
loving my hifiman sundaras but this headband lowkey hurting my head
hey my fellow Fiio enthusiasts! Much to my dismay my case for my Fiio UTSW3 has recently stopped responding to getting a USB cable plugged in and thus rendering my iems unusable. Does anyone have experience with their customer support?
i bought the thing in November 2022 so it conveniently survived the 2 years of warranty and held out a few months more beyond that
i guess i'll try contacting the wholesale shop i got it from first and then the Fiio support directly
Hey guys, just wondering what you guys recommend as far as open ear earbuds go, I was looking at options like the shockz ones the nothing ear open ones, and the bose open ear ultras, I don’t care about the price just want to know which ones are the best sound quality wise, thanks
Obviously I won’t be using them for critical listening, just for while biking and in the office, but I don’t want them to sound like shit so idk which ones to go for
What do you mean by open ear earbuds
Like ones that don’t go in your ear
So you can still hear what’s going on around you
yeah I know
in ears without silicone
thet are called earbuds
ones with silicone are iems
like I said though I wouldn't recommend them
iems use silicone tips for very good reason, in ears without silicone tips sound incredibly awful compared
I would advise just using transparency mode with regular iems
The problem I have with this is even iems with a good transparency mode when biking on the road they don’t pick up a lot of sounds and also my boss doesn’t really like it when people have AirPods in but for some reason doesn’t mine the open style
My problem there is that they still go in the ear which is what my boss doesn’t like, which is why I’m stuck on what to get
I use shokz when im at work.
Previously I've used the fiio jw-1
Which shockz do you have cause I have the open swims and they sound like shit unless I’m under water
Openfits
And these ones sound a bit less like shit. I listen to podcasts and audiobooks
Music is tolerable at low volumes.
I wonder what sounds better out of those, the nothing open things and the Bose ones
you tested some earphones underwater?!
They are bone conduction earphones so they vibrate the sound into your jaw
No normal speakers in them
thats cool
Idk how it works but when you go under water they have so much more bass and just all round sounded more full
They don’t actually sound too bad under water but the music was less tolerable when I tried to run and bike with them
Any one got any experience with Arturia MiniFuse 2 bc I'm looking for a 2 port xlr interface with 60 db of gain
are you afraid of r50x
@lean grove @warm scarab I got a susvara
its lowkey kinda bright kek
wait I got a dac that literally fixes that
you could remove the 6** veil and transplant it to the susvara for peak performance I think
If you want to hear every thing around around you, look at the Sony link buds open. And I think they are similar price but I may be wrong. Even though it may look like a regular earbud, the lower part that’s like a donut is the speaker, and the hole in the centre lets the passive outside noise to go in you ear. Here’s the link if you’re interested https://www.sony.com.au/headphones/products/linkbuds-open
Discover the LinkBuds Open from Sony.Experience a new kind of earphones, with an open ring design that keeps you connected to your surroundings. The new and light Air Fitting Supporters for LinkBuds Open provide all-day wearing comfort. Available in a range of colours to match your style.
And Bluetooth doesn’t work underneath water unless you download the music on the actual aearbuds

Why do all ...
Hifiman uses the same production line for everything, whether its 300$, 3000$ or 8000$ headphone
They all feel the same give or take
Speaking of earbuds, there is no good "non true" wireless anymore? I've tried several true wireless but the cheaps don't sound so good and no matter how much they cost, one year later they start to fail or having like half time battery life... It's not worth it imo... I remember I had some "normal" BT from Bose a while ago and I can't found nothing similar nowadays anyone knows any updated model? With LDAC or similar support?
you tried these? https://moondroplab.com/en/products/space-travel
no ldac though
Oh these are interesting
Tried nope, but I've heard about them, I actually wanted to try them, because they are pretty cheap, and on the reviews they look good, but didn't find a way to bought them here like a year ago, TBH I may give them chance but I'm still trying to find some old school BT ones.... At this point I've even consider looking for wired ones
anyone around to help me out with Realtek Audio Console, and a set up of speakers in front panel out, and sub+split adapter in the rear output? Not getting audio to my sub in this config, only the speakers plugged into front panel
what's non-true wireless?
tried to look it up but i dont really see anything
What do you guys think of the knew Powerbeats pro 2s?
The old fashion BT, no cases, no individual buds for each ear, I don't think is a name, but since we call "true wireless" all those, I just call the old one like that xD
i think you just had bad picks
and like the other dude said, space travel are worth a try
have you tried the airpod pros or something of sorts?
Yes
Airpods, the Sony ones, the quiet comfort
(but apple things will have a negative bias for me lmao)
good product is good product
and pros happen to be that
in any case if you dont like the pros I don't think there is much in the consumer audio space you will ever like
I just can't believe is necessary to change the things after one year just because the battery last nothing after one year of use
The Bose ones had this thing where one earbud was losing sound so I guess the drive moved or something
bose isn't very strong on making shit that doesn't break
its not unusual to see one guy rma his shit like 4 times
I may be just old lmao, but remember having ones on all my high school and college, why things don't last now xD
I mean pros last like 3-4 years
you are free to get a bluetooth neckband adapter and stick wired iems onto them
I mean is not a format thing, those had more battery life and since they're not always charging, had a better battery health
I mean hey
buy the thing I posted above if you want
wire in any iem with the appropriate socket
if the bt adapter breaks you can just replace that and keep the iem
Yeh that's actually an option
there is this thing if you want
but I've never heard of anyone trying it
the frequency response looks really good on paper but thats about all I can verify regarding it
but moondrop is typically a good company
That may be a thing, I may try, last resort I will back to wired, but I've never seen USB C decent ones
But since I need something rn I may try first the moondrop space travel u guys mentioned before
wtf is dwcebt
its only like 25$ so fairly good buy
the moondrop voyager I sent is also in the neckband format you wanted
Decent* xD
you can just get a usb c to 3.5 dongle
those are really good typically
this one is solid
buy the apple one
he is using android
yeah but no real reason to bottleneck yourself
its not very durable either
ig if 10$ is too much go for the apple dongle instead
Why not spend an inconsequential amount of money for the better dongle
No reason to get apple if you can spend $10 more
it is a better one in both chipset and output volume
really? it jjust looked like some no name
nah its not a random one
tgats better then
Yeah that one has the CX31993 chip which is the one any decent dongle is using
Well, anyways, very constructive guys, thanks, I have three alternatives and I may try all of them on the long term
i have this other adapter that allegedly has CX21986, didnt know there was some sort of main company making the chips
(its the anker one)
CX - Conexant
CS - Cirrus
ALC - Realtek
ES - ESS
AK - AKM
I think that's basically all of the common ones you'll see
PCM/DAC for Texas Instruments sometimes ig
realtek ones always seem to sound like crap, but maybe thats just me only seeing them on motherboards
Realtek are ok
motherboard implementations suck
ALC897 with the right implementation is fine
ALC5686 is also fine
Hi, I'm looking for headphones 👍🏻
Preferred to be AirPods shape with no silicon and good bass (Samsung phone)
The budget is about 200₪ / 56$, can only purchase locally (Israel) or Aliexpress
Thanks in advance!
Any tips on how to keep in ceiling speaker grills from popping out but still allowing them to be removable? I was going to use epoxy but I think it’s a bad idea to make them permanent
Double sided tape
One sided tape but make a circle with it so it becomes double sided
Ohhhhhh baby

do they need to be wireless
if not, do apple earbuds, theyre 30 bucks, and you can buy an adapter for the aux connector
i got them on amazon
i love them
anc isnt the greatest, disable it when its very windy but it blocks out enough and more than enough for the price. i personally feel the sound is good. the app is terrible, you can only change the touch controls and the 3 eq settings and you cant adjust volume on it, it has a game mode which works, not sure how well but i play black ops 2 with them on xbox via the tvs bluetooth and it works but im trash.
Yeah, like a year ago they were impossible to get, but actually I already bought them yesterday from Amazon (I'm not in the us tho), but yes I'm gonna try them
is the noise cancellation tax on the gen 4 airpods worth it? (i dont like the fit of the pro's)
wdym noise cancellation tax
The extra price for noice cancellation compared to the normal version
pro is just better
the silicone isn't a preference thing, its present because it makes the sound a lot better
as well as the noise cancelling
Its probably a better idea to just get used to using silicone tips than buying regular earbud airpods for worse performance
Nah i cant stand silicon buds
Ive tried to get used to them for years
But they just arent really for me
Im using iems on my pc rn and i still dont like the silicon buds
did you use airpod silicones or regular iems
because airpod silicone doesn't go into your ear at all
it just slightly touches the outside ring of your ear canal for bare minimum seal
unlike iems that go centimeters into your ear
my sister has the pros so ive tried them
just not a fan
just isnt comfortable like the normal airpods or headsets
Hey people, im trying to find a pcie x1 sound card
Any suggestions?
I just want to connect a sub and a left and right channel
I also want to make my own speakers, any suggestions with that?
Please ping me if you reply
my suggestion isnt getting one
Why not?
External dacs are better
outdated tech
I dont have many usb ports
maybe you should be getting a pcie usb hub instead of sound card then lol
there is always the option of usb external hubs as well
@ me answer. I need help as soon as possible with my issue.
I want to hear my headphones and my phone together
I tried using an audio mixer, but it turned my phone into a mic
I use aux for headphones btw
https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-pro-wireless-pc-playstation
https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets/arctis-nova-7
define audio mixer
an audio mixer shouldn't be able to turn your phone into a mic
i dont think buying new headphones is the solution
especially gamer headsets with very questionable performance
To be fair, they didn't say what kind of solution they were looking for. If they don't wish to purchase hardware with the desired functionality built in, then you're spot on regarding using some kind of audio mixer to achieve their goals. 👍 One could likely achieve listening to their phone by using a 3.5mm output from phone to 3.5mm input on the PC piped through a software mixer like Voicemeeter.
Passive audio mixer, idk it’s just what it does
Like a $10 to $20 solution from Amazon or aliexpress
Think of a splitter but the other way around
Yeah just a sec
So you want a hardware mixer, gotcha. Do you even need one though? If you use a 3.5mm output from phone to 3.5mm input on the PC, you don't need a hardware mixer. Just use your PC's soundcard's existing Aux Input.
how does this not work I don't get it
oh wait
proably because your 3mm cable or the socket joins mic and grond
uhh
It turns my phone into a mic for some reason
I have one, now what?
plug it into headphone
1 male to 2 female
confused
I need mic and sound for pc
Also the mic doesn’t touch the mixer kinda
How I have it is mic to aux combiner, speaker to mixer, mixer to combiner
sorry I phrased it in a stupid and wrong way because im occupied with something
anyhow
you want to hear phone and pc and use mic?
k
anyhow
you can just wire the split part of the mic into the desktop's mic input
and headphone to mixer
Dumb it down for me. Like explain the whole thing?
split the phone's output
now you got headphone and microphone right
plug the headphone portion of the splitter into the mixer
plug the mic portion of the splitter directly into your computer
Imma explain it myself and you say yes or no
Split the phone, put phone to mixer, have headphone audio to mixer then to aux combiner, have mic go straight to headphones ?
Or am I wrong?
in case I’m not clear, headphone and mic are different ports on pc
Wait, why would do phone to pc?
im stupid
i meant to draw the headphone's mic to pc
look its 6am im not operating at my best
there does this help
It should be like this?
Fair
Yes
So the splitter makes it so the phone audio only goes to mixer?
Yes
I think your phone is being rendered as a "mic"?
Oh
because bottom is mic space
I see
and it short circuits with the ground
when you insert a 3 pole jack
or some weird thing
Note: I do a phone to Bluetooth to aux thing
you should probably like
mention that
can you draw a diagram of what you are trying to do so this is cleared up
i dont understand at what point of the process the system comes to a fault
Something like this
Ok sure
might be because mic is shorting with the ground pole
This is how I have jr
just use a splitter to make sure thats not the issue
I need one of these so bad for planes
Ok
i dont think you should use wireless at planes lmao
Wait no it prob doesn’t work that way
It’s a receiver not a transmitter
God damn it
I have a transmitter and receiver if you want the link for it, like it switches between both
now
you'll be annoying the pilots so much
I need
Bro there’s gonna be somebody with a laptop Bluetooth isn’t high power enough prob
Actually the wireless device thing is a myth
it isn't
it creates parasites for the pilot's radio
makes it hard to hear tower and back
Nah it sorta does stuff, but that’s usually when using WiFi stuff, and it barely affects stuff, only when a lot of people does it it maters
I just found this on AliExpress: $18.07 | Bluetooth 5.3 Audio Receiver Transmitter 3.5mm AUX Jack Airplane USB Dongle Wireless Adapter for TV PC Headphone Car kit Speaker
https://a.aliexpress.com/_mL2qHyr
Anyway Bluetooth is low powered and across like a ton of frequency ranges so it wouldn’t matter
That’s why they wouldn’t tell you to turn off Bluetooth devices during takeoff
But they do say airplane mode
I don’t think that turns off Bluetooth
Yeah it doesn’t
dont think that makes it automatically output a signal
it just receives connections, discovers only when you ask it to
actually why discuss this I can just google this
Yes, Bluetooth devices, like phones, can potentially interfere with pilot radios, but the likelihood and severity of interference depend on several factors. Here's a breakdown:
Bluetooth: Operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) band.
Pilot Radios: Typically operate in the VHF (Very High Frequency) range, around 118–137 MHz for aviation communication.
Interference Risk: Since Bluetooth and pilot radios operate in completely different frequency bands, direct interference is unlikely. However, harmonic interference or spurious emissions from poorly shielded Bluetooth devices could theoretically cause issues.
there
Harmonic interference shouldn’t happen all too much though, as Bluetooth happens over multiple frequencies in that 2.4 ghz band
At least I’m pretty sure it’s a bunch
Think I heard around 100
Its a precaution as far as I'm aware
I don't think it actually has an effect in practice
But I am not an aviation engineer
airplane mode doesnt turn off bluetooth
@warm scarab didn’t work
only issue is obs picks up phone as well
also got it to work in audio mixer settings
not end of the world ig
ideally i dont want it to be heard tho
I have a stupidly advanced linux network audio setup. I reverse engineered the dante network audio control protocol for almost no reason other than not wanting to click boxes on windows/macos. I have my phone/game consoles/all computers/all microphones all in the same wireless mix with wireless microphones and IEMs and it's all setup automatically with hardware, systemd scripts, and jackd.
anyone know any budget ($10-$25) iem cable replacement for tangzu wan er driver?
If I was to have speakers with dual binding posts like this, would I be able to plug two systems into it at once? Obviously one system would be turned off while the other is in use, but say if I wanted a specific stereo streamer that has a built in amp in one set of binding posts specifically for music and I used the other set of binding posts to use those speakers in a surround sound system, could I do that and would it be as simple as just turning one system off before I turn the other on or would I have to actually replace the wires of each system every time?
No
i dont think it would be a smart idea to indirectly send power to the output of another amplifier even if its off
you could just buy a switch box and avoid every point of fault
Good to know, thankyou. I'm guessing there are specific audio switch boxes for this or it's something generic?
its generic you could even make one yourself
which site should i buy these from? im from europe. or is there a third option?
shenzhen audio vs hangout audio
28KHz "sine?"
20KHz
Looks like the sound card is having trouble "recording" above 20KHz(at least 28KHz)
50KHz
where in europe
in northern europe you can get them from maxgaming.com
Are you still in Europe?
Is this clipping?
18KHz Square wave
15KHz square wave
what's your sample rate set to
28khz requires > 56 kHz sample rate
in software it's set to 384, but I don't know my sound hardware's actual specs
I can't tell what exactly what you're trying to do
Anyone here ever play around with a headphones + subwoofer setup
you probably wanna look at a spectrogram instead of just the bare wave and eyeballing it
What's your guys opinions on the KZ ZEX IEMs and the ENROSLU headphone amp?
And get this and to use on pc if you have no usb c then get a usb a to c
get the truthear reds avoid the amp you dont need it
judging by the quality that amp will just add noise
Dongle time
Got it I just need something where the microphone can actually pickup my voice
And ideally sound good or if not just work and not miss anything
😂
yeah no this is exactly the one I remember
You able to compare it to the black shark x
As it’s either that or iems but I M worried that iems won’t pickup my voice
v2 x?
Don’t know lemme check
i think v2 x is better but still like
its bad
the v2 pro wireless 2020 version seems to be the best one out of all the blacksharks
Good reviews
still has a hilarious amount of midbass
wired iems will work wonders
worst thing about them will be the mic rubbing to your shirt
Alright as the Sonys did not pickup my voice well
you can also get a modmic antlion or something similar to them
Yeah but that adds to the cost I’m tryna spend minimal I can
wired iems will typically do that well, were they wireless
Wired
But cheap
The sound wasn’t horrible it was fine, inoffensive
Mental won’t work on Xbox but wow
Anyways any budget iem recs under 30?
Hmm, if all I want is a decent pair of TWS buds for use whilst I'm at work, what should I be looking at?
what in tarnation
If he wants earbuds and a headphone amp, get neither, and then only get earbuds?
no idea
airpod pros are a very safe bet
if you want to go cheap moondrop space travel are very good
Do those play well with android phones?
you miss some features but generally yeah
yeah for the most part
you can look up what android phones cant do with airpods
play/pause/next/previous/volume up+down works
and you can switch between transparency and noise cancelling mode
there are also apps that show the battery percentage of the earbuds and case
@tender frost
Oh neat
Headphone reccs for under $40 with a good mic?
