i just need it to have some good sound quality and something that allows me to track whats going around me well in fps games
pc38x, hd560s, fiio ft1
The goal of this video isn't to provide in-depth coverage on any specific product, nor is it a ploy to get you to buy new stuff! I wanted this to be a basic guide for each product type and price range based on gear I myself have personally used and enjoyed. If I can suggest these to friends and family, I can suggest them to you! I broke it do...
thank you i will look into all of them!
isnt there like a version 2 of the d1se
yeah thats what i got
and isn't the d1se a rebrand of the su10
the vmv is like, their premium brand
so it might be the exact same aside from some fancier caps and psu
idk
d1se seems to have a slightly newer dac chip
1 version newer
I was talking about d1se being a su10 rebrand
dont forget mackie mc450 if you want a more serious solution for most comp fps games
i have been hearing of the senheisers 560 alot. are they really worth it with sound quality wise? will i still be able where foosteps are coming from if i have them?
basically all hd560s reviews are reviewing a version of the headphone thats no longer sold
what do you mean no longer sold!?
sennheiser made a large silent revision which lowered the headphones ability to both hear quieter sounds and understand overlapping sounds
I have both of these versions
thats so unfortunate
this will do the most damage to games like r6s and apex
other games like valorant and cs2 have the quietest sounds exist at no less than a certain minimum volume
Would Yall recommend the razer kraken v3 x? My local Walmart has a few in stock and from the reviews I’ve watched and the friends I’ve talked to they have said it’s good
I play fps and mess around with some music stuff but all I care is that the sound quality is better than the $10 skullcandy jib wired earbuds and that the mic is better than my 7 year old iPad’s mic connected using a special app
so in that case it still works 85% as well as it did before
im not intense but i do play val, ow2 and bg3
random games and horror
just looking for headphones with good quality and accurate sounds
prefer comfortablity because i also use my pc for school work which does require me to sit there for a long time to get it all done
it also depends on your definition of quality
i suppose something similar to the xm4
there are real reasons some people enjoy headphones with poor clarity during overlapling sounds
ive bought it a while ago and honestly its really nice
im so sorry but could you elaborate on what clarity and overlapping sounds are?
yes
there are many ways headphones and speakers can be categorized based on what a human interprets from that sound
one of these is called instrument separation
which is the ability for the headphones to keep a cymbal sounding like a cymbal while theres also hi hats, a shaker, synthesizer, singing
all happening at the same time
its similar to masking, like how its hard to understand lyrics during music
when many sounds overlap, clarity of each sound goes down by some amount
some sounds more affected than others depending on the situation
so it is usually desireable to have high instrument separation in competitive games
agreed
a splashing water or leaves sound may hide clip reload sounds since they are kinda similar
its very nice to be able to tell apart all the chaos thats happening in ow2 battles or when theyre spamming ults in val
because i rely on sound ques alot
the headphones are still only 1 part of the equation though. there's limits to what we can hear caused by our brain and the game engine
but,
the $150-200 area is roughly the sweet spot in terms of getting a precise and analytical enough headphone
theres usually not much practical improvement after that
the modern hd560s is still pretty darn capable compared to something like a cloud II
I just had to pay more attention in cs2 and occasionally make guesses
any better choices for the price range of 150-200? or would you consider hd560s to be the most balanced?
well tonally its pretty balanced
a lot of reviews will obsess about tone, which can be changed for free with software and less max volume
I'll get torched for mentioning it but the AT m50x is a pretty big improvement in instrument separation and hearing the quietest sounds
i dont think that that will be necessary right?
why torched?
oh not a fan of closed with small ear pads
yes thinner than usual earpads
the mc450 has less bass and more treble, but thats kinda helpful for comp fps
the real difference to the hd560s is the instrument separation and fine details like before
will that really be a problem with ow2 and val?
but it will give you that by a factor of 2-3x dollar per dollar
val would be ok on the quiet sounds part, but not overlapping sounds
in spike gamemode with teams, it gets very hard to track your team vs the enemy
hd6xx
the kind of difference the mc450 makes over the hd560s here sonically is night and day
the problem is that nobody will reasonably have that kind of mental focus on that many sounds. its an important part of why $200 is loosely the point of diminishing returns, and why the mc450 in practice did not smoke the hd560s nearly as much as I expected.
oh well i will look into it tomorrow, but thank you for helping me!
i appreciate it
yee
oh if you get pressure points on the top of your head from past headphones, the mc450 will do that too. not something I get, but worth mentioning
2 other headphones that are somewhere inbetween hd560s and mc450 are beyer dt880 600 ohm and akg k702, but both kinda need a $40 amp for decent volume
can talk more later
So is schiit better then topping
Can anyone recommend a sound system to replace my Logitech Z506 system. I think my subwoofer is blown and I had them for 9 years and they work fantastic for my needs until now. I am looking for a system that I can have both my computer and game consoles hooked up at that same time and be able to hear both. I am also looking for a headset that also will allow me to do the same thing.
I also prefer if both inputs can be 5.1 or 7.1 but can live with the pc side being only stereo.
The only set I'm aware of are https://steelseries.com/gaming-speakers/arena-9
Logitech makes a Z906 set, but I don't know if it will mix multiple audio sources at once.
Nice, do u like them?
do u have a dac/amp dongle
waht do those look like
are u plugging it directly into ur pc
yup
is there noise floor(static noise when nothing is playing?)
Havent noticed it
get a 3.5mm extension then
thx man!
Just started using my apple music on my windows
Hi res losless
someone please tell me how i can fix this problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UVLJs-N1IQ
The speakers are BOSE 2.2 SERIES II
Amplifier: Lo-D HA-330
Like you can see in the video the left speaker isn't moving to the same values as the right one. It's very noticeable when you're listening. I've tried to clean the copper contacts on the wire, speaker, and amplifier with isopropyl alcohol 90% still nothing
bruh
i think it broke
my iems
No idea how
this morning theyre not playin any songs
What did u do to them
Theyre not playing any audio
Was there moisture

like a dongle
What speakers do u use donny
Anyone know some good home speakers under 100usd i should check out?
airpods 4th gen or cmf buds pro 2? is there much of a difference for £100 more
Hey everyone, I’m torn between the Fiio FT1 and the Aful Explorer. I’m looking for something with a fun and engaging sound signature. Which would you recommend, and why? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Jbl 305p ii
Why are u comparing headphones and iems, they are apple and oranges
Bc I’m looking at buying either one
Fun is subjective
By “fun sound,” I’m referring to a dynamic and engaging tuning, often with a V-shaped frequency response. This usually means elevated bass for a strong, punchy impact, slightly recessed mids, and enhanced treble for added sparkle and energy. It’s more about musicality and enjoyment than a neutral or analytical presentation.
V? Oh10
What?
Its an iem
Oh gotcha
I still need help with this pleaseeee

Hi! any recommendations for a good gaming earbuds?
hi. i want to buy a mic and im chosing between the fifine k688 and rode pod mic, and i im more on the rode pod mic side but the problem is i dont know what budget audio interface to get. my budget would be around 50 euros.
Hey I what to upgrade my audio setup for streaming because I am using a usb mic from HyperX it’s the HyperX QuadCast - USB Microphone
Fiio FT1 if you want dynamic you can feel the bass 60mm drivers huge
Is €50 for a Røde NT1-A a good deal?
Fiio FT1 headband build quality is possibly the worst I have ever seen
don't get it if you don't have a torx 5 & 6 screwdriver to screw the headband back in when it unscrews itself
Found some Mezze classic 99s (2017) in good condition with, case for £72 ($91).
Worth?
Had mine for a week or 2 now no issues with that sofar
I have a fiio ft1 too
Was playing with the idea of swapping out my sundaras closed headband with the Fiio one
the headband unscrewed itself
Very close in size the sundaras about 1 cm wider
lol
im not the only one
For the price they still can’t be beat
You could pay $2000 for some focal’s where the headband just breaks after a few months
I bet the m50x is going to make the ft1 dead on arrival for most techs, when I finally get an ft1
hyped headphones are always overhyped
Might be the 60mm drivers they are very large. I don’t notice anything on mine but over 14k is gone for me.
for me its sharp above 11kHz
lemme find my unit
I think I put it away somewhere
nope it extends in the treble
I got peaks at 1.7, 4.5, 8 and 11kHz
even when I EQ it flat, there is just something in the sound that is giving me a physical headache
Actually Klaus and I crowd funded a black market surgeon to put a microwave transmitter at the base of your skull

which earbuds would you guys recommend? I am using a pixel 9 phone and I need ANC
what price
150-200 eur
i mean yeah, there is a 13k spike also varries unit to unit
not the smoothest treble
not uncommon to see unit variance with headphones, even i noticed some with second pair of my hd681’s
for some reason unit 2 has more upper treble, different batch though still the same year 2022 april and 2022 dec for the second unit iirc
This is kind of random, but is there any chance on the topping a70 pro that the xlr outputs aren’t amplified?
Like obviously it’s an amp ment for headphones but I was wondering if I ran the xlr outputs on the back into my studio monitors I could use the monitors as a second output, only problem is I don’t wanna amplify the signal going into my monitors as they are already powered on their own
They will be amplified the same way an omelette contains eggs.
Meaning that there isn't a way for the signal to not go through the amplifier
But it will be a line level signal and should play fine with your powered speakers, this is the exact scenario they were meant to be used in
guyyssss i need helppp
its been 2 days 😭
he hasn't found the microwave transmitter yet
lmao
Ahh okay got it!
I had one other question about my d70 pro
These two outputs here
Can you swap which output it’s going to or does it automatically output to both
(I can’t test this myself rn cause I don’t have power in my house at the moment lol)
No idea.
Okay thanks anyway
Does anyone know if the earbuds version of the sennheiser momentum 4 is better than the headphone one?
Good sounding kb?
Guys is it normal for both my ears to have completely different comfort requirements
Like my right ear can't fit my fake airpods but my left ear fits it perfectly
Like when I wear my iems my right ear and left ear feel different
Yes
My ears are slightly different sizes
Not by much
But my left airpod falls out more than my right
hey guys, so i brought the zeus 2 h510 wired headphones and i have a problem with the mic
the microphone does not work with the aux cable on my pc
i have to use the usb cable to be able to use the mic
also the driver/software of redragon doesnt not detetc the headphones when connected through aux cable
the mic worked just fjne when i connected it to my phone through the aux cable to which i think that its a software problem rather than hardware
It looks like it should come with a single 3.5mm cable and a dual 3.5mm
For your PC you probably want the dual one
Does anyone know a good wireless headset with mice for max 150 euro?
Go past the mundane to Almighty Audio, a superior combination of hardware software. The Nova Acoustic System includes custom audio drivers, immersive 360° spatial audio and 10-band parametric EQ from Sonar Software. Listen to two audio streams simultaneously with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, easily swit...
i can use dual or singlar one
but i did try both and it didnt work
i have lancool case with a 3.5mm jack that supports both audio and mic
even then, both of them didnt work, only the usb on worked
it fixed itself, thank u g
Eddieate once again being the only helpful person in ltt audio chat
Can anyone recommend the most affordable IEMs for competitive gaming? I’m looking for something that offers good sound clarity and accuracy for better performance in games.
I've only tried a handful, but the 7hz zero 2 has worked really well for me
it's able to stay decently clear when multiple sounds are happening at once
it can hear quiet sounds more easily than the truthear zero red, moondrop chu 2, tangzu wa'ner s.g, and kz dqs
and the sense of direction is strong/obvious in most games that support directional audio
not the most precise with exact angles, the zero reds are better with that. but the zero red is pretty weak with telling directions
yes results may vary
I liked the cheaperish Kiwi Ears. Good clarity
IEMs can be quite the rabbit hole
So many legit Chi Fi options
Most affordable? Get Truthear Gate or Salnotes Zero 2
What’s better for a warm neutral sound
Warm or bassy?
any recos for a sturdy pair of 3.5 wired buds? thinking senheiser IE200
If you want bassy, Blon Z300. If you want warm, Salnotes Zero 2
what budget and wdym by sturdy?
Warm
Not bassy
Zero 2 then IMO
around or under 150 usd, im pretty active and wear earbuds for at least 14 hours a day, would be helpful if they are very sweat-proof and not fragile
I wouldn't recommend the IE200 because they use a weird recessed MMCX
MMCX is pretty fragile as it is and recessed makes it harder to find replacement cables
I've been using some wireless sony wi-c310 for a while now and they are great, nearly perfect. Just looking for a solid -wired- pair like those that maybe don't distort as much at high volumes
i saw that, that was my main issue. looks flimsy
I'm only really familiar with the entry-level iems, but looking at the tuning of the C310 I'd say the Blon Z300 is your best bet
it's also a metal shell, and you can easily find cables for it if it breaks
thanks man i really appreciate you
what do yall think of the jamo classic 8 tower speakers?
Windows 11 got a bug that suddenly makes USB-based sound maximize to 100%
https://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/40087-microsoft-varnar-for-skranig-bugg-i-windows-11-24h2
Good thing I always control my volume via my amp
Oh shit, edition xs is on sale for $249
isn't that the norm
I think it's usually at like $350
I thought it was $270 for a while, that's what I got it for
my endgame
it's been a while now I think? It happened to me a few months ago
I searched my chat history it happened during the past June
So it means it's been a thing for 5 months already
at minimum
Microsoft working as fast as they can
Should just had linked straight to Microsoft English support document about the problem:
"This may occur if you're running Windows 11, version 24H2(Your fault)"
will this be a good step up from the steel series arctics https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BS1QCFHX?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 for games that sound direction actually matter such as rainbow six siege
or will they be a worst for directional audio compared to dedicated gaming headsets?
what are some good headphones for under 100
i'd suggest not getting these
he400se is fine, k361, pc37x
y and what would you suggest me get
I want wireless headphones that I can use for gaming and just like outside
They don't support aptx so no
what is aptx
Uh, i'm not a browser
Ideally you want 2.4ghz (which those headphones featuring 2.4ghz usually suck) or aptx
If your headphones don't feature/support aptx or sbc your headphones will likely have 250ms+ of latency
Even with aptx it's not the fastest but better than just reg bt
so gaming will be ass with those headphones
I'd suggest unless you need wireless
K361, he400se, pc37x at 100
if I cant get a decent deal on a actual good wireless headphones for black friday ill probably just stick with my arctis til it breaks
Watch for reviews that atleast feature fr charts
not some sponsored junk
Anker... 🚮
so my mic is not working again
i can hear myself through this but i cant record or anytghing
Hi everyone I’m looking to upgrade my gaming headset and could really use some help. I currently have the Pulse 3D and would like a pair of headphones that are clearer and more immersive. I am flexible in price as well. Thanks in advance.
monolith m1070
or
these are what i reccomend
at Christmas its there one year birthday
(ignore my laptop) its fine
The Zero reds have always been a solid safe option if they fit okay
But I'm holding out for the Blue 2
Best wireless earbuds beside cmf buds pro 2 for $50?
Random thing: buying another Bluetooth speaker to replace my dying bose soundlink iii. Should I get a JBL Xtreme 1 or Xtreme 2 (same price, just wondering if anyone has both/has an opinion)
From what Ive heard the Xtreme 1 is smaller (which is nice) but the Xtreme 2 has more neutral sound
today i made a 100$ audio setup mostly and its really good i like it :3
realistic tv100 and sony xb500s uh ignoring the cost of adapters and stuff but even then its doable
and then im running a dac to eq because im running it off my phone but that doesnt count but its good setup it lacks detail but everything else is good
the setup puts out really nice bass though and its generally just pleasant to listen to i give it an 9/10ish taking into account the price
and i can add speakers if i want or upgrade anything
audio tech
Terrible
Whats ur budget
Do u want anc
yes please
Jbl tune 760/770nc
what's the diff between the 760 and 770 ?
Sound, none
do they come with a bluetooth adapter
No
Its bt
ugh
yeah i know but in computers wifi cards come with bluetooth
Bt on windows is terrible
I know right
Do you have other headphone recommendations
With ur needs and budget, no
ok thank you
i have a question about direct monitoring from an interface. will the signal still be sent to my pc when its enabled so i dont need to setup loopback in windows or linux with potential latency?
the input will be sent to windows, yes
So I'm pretty sure my factory infotainment system head unit is dead, 2015 equinox. Should I be investing time at finding a dealer to replace it or go after-market? Less interested in gaining new features and just making the thing work again
whats a good headset for pc gaming Canada around $70
Yes, I'm aware it's $30 CAD over budget. Find a way to buy it, thank me later. (I'm sure there are similar headsets from Corsair or other companies - I just know Logitech's stuff.)

Get truth zero red iems
Will be 100x better than any headset at that price
Actual “gaming” headsets are wastes of money
icic
meh, the reason people buy headsets is so they dont have to buy a separate mic, like i have a blackshark v2 for gaming with my idiot friends. when im alone i use my lil planer iems they where like 90 bucks i forget the brand, also i use the monolith m1070s also for youtube, music, story games, when i dont need a good mic. and for school i use audio technica ath-m20x, all headsets and headphones have diff use cases
how much is tht
rn 42 clams on amazon
should i get the iem or G535
do you use mic alot
yes
get the head set
but i got a mic mic but i dont use but i can
you already have a mic
then get the iems
and if you can
a small dac
if you need mic and done care as much about audio then get the head set, if you like audio more get the iems
buy what you think you need
is the iem better for like csgo val fortnite
iem=better sound headphones= wider sound stage
so headphones better for fps game
yes
okay should i get wired or wireless g535
get wired
wht abt mouses whts a good mouse
i use viper mini rn
wired but i lowkey hate the wire
I know heaps of audio nerds, shit on the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pros, now that the new Mk ii is out, do you guys still think there shit or are they worth it?

where do i get
Aliexpress
wht abt g535 or like any other options ?
how much is it
didn't like how they sounded, but they function
50ish bucks
which is better mad or the r1
depends on what you prefer shape wise, use eloshapes to compare
Hey. Has anyone here owned both the 1st and 2nd gen Airpods? I was thinking of upgrading to the 2nd gen and was wondering if all the grills get gunked up as easily as they do on the 1st gen pods.
fortnite
With my 1st gen Airpods I just can't help but feel like the transparency mode etc get weaker and weaker over time due to this.
fortnite
And no matter how often you clean them with blu tack, it just delays the inevitable.
fortnite x3
you ruined it
I've owned the AirPods Pro 1 and 2, and with both sets I have to get warranty replacements every 6 months or so due to the microphone or something else not working. Granted I use these every day so its expected.
anybody have some good recommendations for budget earbuds?
eddie ruined it
fortnite
Schiit or topping
Is the Audyssey calibration microphone that came with my receiver good enough to use for REW, or should I buy a UMIK-1
Trying to avoid spending £129 on something I will use once or twice if possible
depends on context
but id say schiit most of the time
Is the rear surround speaker to the right a proper placement for 5.1 speaker setup or should I move it to the red arrow spot?
how does it sound
Sounds fine
put it in the red spot and see if it sounds any better
It sounds more immersive in the red spot but the detail is more noticeable in the original spot
what matters more to you
I would say immersion, if I want a balance should I angle it a specific way?
i would pick immersion too. theres not a lot of useful information in the rear channels. they're really there for immersion and occasionally someone off-screen says "Hey!" or whatever
but play around with positioning
Any cool people know a good DAC/AMP within reasonable pricing to use with the Beyerdynamics DT990 pro
in the car using my ath-m20x that i got at good will for 5 bucks, i love em
Hello, i need some earbuds up to 100Eur, what is your guys suggestions?
is this worth the price to get the hd560s?
which one do you have? there's many versions 32/250/600 ohm
250ohm
my twin brother asked for a headphone setup like mine that doesn't cost as much (hd6xx + schitt modi&magni). This is pretty good bang for the buck from when i got it, but i've been out of the game for a minute, what's good entry level now?
So wut parts of a schiit stack are used for a gaming/productivity pc, im guessing speaker amp, headphone amp, dac, Preamp. (Ik schiit has a dedicated one for gaming maybe that too?) And maybe surround idk
i mean it depends, if you're running speakers and headphones, the asgard can do both instead of buying a magni and a sys
actually the new magni looks like it also does preamp, rip being on the old one ig
Is there a downside to getting the higher end ones like the dedicated amp ones etc
yeah, you spend more
if your desk doesn't look like this then you clearly need more shit
I'm not a schiit expert, but their faq's are really helpful and also well explained mostly. I'm just running a modi and magni rn so I can't super ocmment on the high end like the modius or the bifrost/asgard level
why you running two modis and magnis?
Fiio ft-1 is the latest hotness.
But otherwise 6xx is still the goat for entry-level
and is schiit still best bang for the buck on real dac/amps?
Ehhhhhh
I mean. Yeah mostly.
I think if you're concerned about price then a dongle DAC is better
Fosi ds1, or a cx31993 dongle, or even a $10 apple dongle will be fine
You head the difference between DAC chips? What are you some sort of UGLY LOSER?
i'd rather have cheap ess dac than mobo dac
Your money 💰 your choice.
cheaper than most other (good) options
Smsl and topping still good value.
The raw mda-1 seems pretty lit
I have an Smsl stack that i love.
Digital volume >>> cheap potentiometer
I went back to my ifi dac and ngl I miss the smsl dac
Probably the high distortion around 11kHz is what makes it a lot more pleasant with my headphones
not unless you really want those cable management things
probably shouldn't buy something you don't know about
what in the world am I looking at
if you don't miss the absence of an amplifier why would you get an amplifier
Why I'm asking 🤔
So i can then research and decide if I want it
Which chances r yes
dedicated dac / amps are generally for audiophile headphones
they are items you buy either because your headphones are unable to benefit as much as possible from your motherboard output
(Hd800s)
I sincerely hope you didn't pay 1st hand price for that
Im not looking for best bang for buck tho
And I did which I'm fine with
Cause I chose it
If I can find a product on amazon/newegg even if prices I prefer it over ebay etc
its a niche as fuck headphone
its not bad but its not really what you would straight up call good either
I've also never had a desire to use mobos amp dac cause most suck
they are okay
but if you are paying like 1200$ for a mediocre headphone no reason to not buy dedicated ones either
What are better ones you'd suggest for both gaming and music (which i use them for)
for gaming hd800 may be the best headphone out there
but for music you have a lot of different options
Should I use seperate for each
I'll gladly do so if the difference in quality is huge
determine that for yourself
go to a hifi shop
try out different headphones
you are at a price point where you'd be like 15k in if you tried out a few headphones
visiting shops that offer headphone demos is the best way you can approach the subject imo
about to get some KZ ZAS's any objections?
Yes
y
audio equipment doesnt always get outdated
alot of headphone designs havent changed for like 30 years
and theyre great
i dont see that as a reason
Crinacle really likes them
apparently they're pretty comfortable. They look like it too.
SPECIFICATIONS Driver: 10mm+7.8mm Dynamic Driver Diaphragm: Polyurethane Suspension LCP Liquid Crystal Composite Diaphragm Impedance: 17.5Ω15% @1KHz Sensitivity: 117.5dB/Vrms @1KHz THD: <1%@1khz Frequency Response Range: 20-40.5kHz (IEC61094, Free Field) Effective Frequency Response Range: 20-20k...
I use these as my main iem
really like them
i have a pair of regular zeros
the blue ones
arent they pretty much the same
lol
see the top ones
Dont have them so idk been some time since i looked into them but i remember most people liked the red better.
i have those already
It really depends on the setup you want.
For just headphones you just need a headphone amp and a DAC. If you're interested in the hd800, get either a Valhalla or a Asgard with a modi.
crin drives his HD800s with the iphone adapter as an amp

Anyone have some recommendations for a budget dac? I bought a set of bookshelf speakers and didn't realize my TV only has optical out and these speakers only take anolog inputs via aux or rca
iems do
in ear market has had several breakthroughs in very recent years and hasn't yet settled down
there is another amazing iem out every other month
You're right. Most audio equipment haven't really changed in many many years. The ONE exception is iems.
Chifi is in a way an entirely new breed of audio equipment that's been constantly evolving from year to year
IEMs that used to be considered "great" at 100 bucks can be matched or beat in every way by an iem that costs 20 bucks today
or even the Tin T2 which at one point was the king of budget chifi iems
is borderline garbage in terms of acoustic performance by today's standards
You're right, things like HD600 are fairly old. DT880 even older, and those hold up very well
or in terms of microphones, SM57 is ancient and yet is probably the most versatile microphone still to date
but IEMs for not just monitoring but for everyday listening is a new market that's still constantly evolving, things that were considered good years ago could be considered mediocre or even bad by today's standards
A review I saw. Just window shopping for now 😃
Resolve gives his ANC headphone tier list of 2024. Noise cancelling headphones need to do more than just sound good, and they serve a different function from conventional passive headphones and they are also far more complicated. Therefore, the criteria for this list based entirely on how likely he is to recommend a given ANC headphone to a frie...
What would a good speaker setup for my room be at $300
I have no amp no nothing for speakers
whole room or your desk?
Whole room
What is a good soundbar i know they ass but i dont think i can fit speakers in my setup
idk then bro sry
how many speakers u planning on getting/ how big is your room tho?
305p
jbl
any 305 variant really
Do they have Bluetooth
Oh
Headphones n kanto tuk speakers/any others in future really tho iirc tuk is a powered speaker so iirc it d o isn't need a dac?
you dont need anything fancy. get an asgard and a modi (or built-in dac card). plug the kanto tuks into the output of the asgard and you'll be good to go

They're incredible.
I am of the controversial stance that old IEMs have for the most part not aged poorly compared to new stuff
for example, truthear zero red vs kz zs10 pro
idc if some of the balanced armatures aren't producing sound
it's still win-some lose-some between the two
I prefer a warmer sound signature for something to just wear around outisde the house
the zero reds sound wide to me by IEM standards (1.5 feet?) but they're dead/detail-less/dynamicless in the midrange, weird timbre in the treble, low microdetail, and low instrument separation
Anything can be used for gig monitoring
I'm moreso referring to just daily use as the main audio source
it's like taking the goldilox earbuds they're claimed to be and smacking them into a cinderblock at 100mph
That makes sense, its driver is also twice as far from the nozzle as most iems
minus the distortion
I have the zeros (not the reds) and they have basically no dynamic range. its just right in front of me
Ah I know that. I'm just saying that these actually are comfortable and don't leave my ears achey after a gig.
that's not dynamic range
also I don't trust Jackson's ears
yk what i meant
but, he's entitled to his opinion
It just doesnt sound very wide
so I won't say he's wrong, I just think Reds are plenty fine
but that's interesting though
alright well lets just say i have 100$ for IEMs and im looking for a warm sound signature that are very wide
what are some options
Ive already done some research im still undecided though
so let me hear your suggestions
wide in iems doesn't really exist
unless by not very wide you mean 1.5ft
i mean wide for IEMS
o
i know its hard since they're not headphones
I mean
yes
technically you could grab smth with a DF tuning
some kind of hrtf soundstage collapse or something
but it feels wrong for me to say hrtf because that implies eq could fix it
and it won't
I mean there's two things to it, one is driver to ear distance and the other would be tuning
I do think tuning CAN make something sound "wider"
im honestly just looking to make a noticeable upgrade from these (top ones)
my experience is that the details around 1-2khz contain important information for how far a sound is from the ears
if you have 100 bucks but already have blues, probably just keep the blues and play with EQ
I'm waiting for the Blue 2
buy a qudelix 5k
yeah they do sound great
and by lowering the volume of that region, masking can be created that makes things sound more disconnected and wide
but it's still recognizably masking
i threw a crin eq on it with peace tuner and they sound great ngl
im just wanting a bit more
creating a dip right before 3k pronounces shout
well maybe
So theres nothing much better for 100$?
the he400se is not an iem, but he400se
I haven't tried a lot of iems
and if I experience the zero reds as abnormally wide, I'm probably not the person to listen to for IEM width
haha yeah ive heard of them
they're planars right?
but they cant produce much bass :/ which i kinda care about
okay then question about headphones. Should I go from my HD599s to DT 990pro
definitely not
y :(
they have quite a bit of headroom to produce bass, but by themselves they'll have less bass than zero reds
as for the dt990 vs hd599, that's it's own world of questions, reasons, conditions
I know theres alot of conditions and its kinda a dumb questions. it depends on the listener and all that. but overall is extra money going to be an improvement?
I don't have an hd599, just an old hd560s and a modern hd560s
I mean are they a good value or are there options that can perform similarly for a lower price
ah yes the good ol 560s
personally I would use my dt990 250R over the new hd560s but probably not the old one
whats your preference for sound?
I'd use an mc450 over either of these... by a large factor
uh
I need some dynamics especially in the lower mids and bass
tight bass too
DT990's treble is fine for you?
like HD560s is just bright, DT990 is somehow bright and hollow and sibilant at the same time
high-ish microdetail and high overall detail, and very high instrument separation
I don't enjoy dt990 brightness
but the treble on my dt990 250r has more fine detail, instrument separation, and transients than the modern hd560s
modern hd560s is a punching bag
did I post this yet
a/b/a/b yes
@elder thistle whats ur fave iem u own
Hi there, I wanted to ask which one has better sound quality and better mic, I don't really know
Logitech G335
Razer BlackShark V2 X
Imo 599 is better. There are also headphones that are a massive upgrade from both of those for 990 price. I'd suggest not getting a 990 unless you really like sibilance
they’re deafeners 990 for a reason
would I lose sound quality running my headphones through a usb 2.0 port? im currently using the back port usb c to connect to my apple adapter but I do have a usb c port in the front of my case, thing is I dont have a usb c port on my mobo so I wanted to buy a usb 2.0 header to usb c header
probably the 7hz zero 2 with light blue tips
I use the chu 2 the most though because of comfort and transients
I got a question, is it possible to get a sony dav-hdx589w to run computer audio?
Yes via the "digital in" or "tv/video" RCA ports
thanks 🙏
Do these require a subwoofer
I wanna use them with my phone for my bedroom
They benefit from a subwoofer
Only if you need more bass than they provide on their own.
Okay
they don't need a subwoofer
And thank christie cookies they don't use proprietary garbage to connect the left speaker.
Not that I know of
Also would they be able to go loud enough for my bedroom
Dang
yes they'll get loud enough
What budget would I need for a decent one
Oh shoot there is
What is
Would that be good
And with that I can still use Bluetooth correct? Sorry I don’t know much about speakers
It'd be hard to tune properly without a calibrated mic and everything but it'd definitely help
You gotta tune subs?
What’s that
Subwoofer out
actually now that I think of it
if it has subwoofer out, your options for subwoofers open up
get something with a 10" driver
Any suggestions
i like the light pink ones
should i try the light blue ones
hi
Yes, Yamaha subs used are pretty good for nearfield use
What’s near field
close to the speaker
Like within 8 feet?
what are you using the sub for?
Speakers for my bed room
tv or desktop use
yeah just grab the yamaha
I have SVS and HSU subs for my HT setups, and Yamaha subs for the desk
@tired crown do you have speakers and an amp already
I got nothing
what's your total budget
Idk

The award-winning, THX-certified ProMedia 2.1 computer/gaming speakers are the perfect match for any desktop. But more importantly, this compact, three-piece setup delivers high-quality sound that puts some home theater systems to shame. Music, Movies, TV, Gaming, Klipsch ProMedia. Troubleshoot: ...
For desktop and gaming use I'd just swing that first, and if you don't like it return it
Those look a tad small for using them for my entire room
I’m not using them at my desk
How big is your room?
They will need to be able to be heard good from like 6-8 feet away
no get a cheap bt receiver
Any suggestions
If those speakers don't cut it, I'd get some used Infinity Primus bookshelf speakers, 2 Yamaha subs, and a receiver.
You'd be surprised. The Klipsch promedias can get pretty loud. And you're not gonna find big speakers for under $150 unless you look for stuff on the used market.
I was originally looking at edifier 1280db
I'd maybe go with the promedias if you're concerned about loudness. They have a much beefier amp and a (albeit small) subwoofer.
Yes, and I'd the sub and sats are matched well to each other. There's a reason they've been around for 25 years.
The price of copper has gone up, but not that much lmao
That's probably more in line with what it should cost in fairness
why are even the best laptop speakers kinda meh. Like what considerations need to be made when engineering them?
yeah
i mean why dont they do stuff like what phones do to compensate for smaller speakers
like the tiny foam balls
phone speaker bad too
I think the foam balls are an Apple patent
DSP can go a long way for small speakers
no replacement for displacement
indeed
yes
i like that
if only headphones could be bored out like cylinders to get more displacement lol
I look ridiculous enough as it is wearing big headphones in public
headphones its less of an issue
what do you daily?
Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro
Laptop speakers are usually small to make space for the battery
those are big chunguses
I have iems
I'd gladly give them up entirely for an extra couple of hours of browsing time
I agree
theyre better than beyerdynamic dt right
I'd completely forfiet my laptop speakers for Better battery life XD
My Dell XPS ones degraded and sound incredibly distorted now
oh noooo :(((
As did the replacements I ordered
i thought XPS's had great speakers?
isnt that kinda their thing
the older ones at least
I have one of the old models which did not
2015 one
the first of the new chassis design
oh
anyone have experience with the SMSLDS100? I can't get like any info on it other than some small reviewers on YT
Technically possible. But at that point you might as well just buy speakers.
lol
Plywood is cheaper than a new laptop.
What do you want to know about it
TRUEEE
3 things. Does it have any known issues, is it going to be noticably different (in volume or quality) than just running it out of the motherboard on his desktop, and would it be powerful enough for the sennheiser hd6xx my brother just got? he got himself a black friday treat and money's short right now, but I was thinking about a dac or amp or combo as a christmas gift so he's not just using his computer's audio. I've heard good and bad about different SMSL products and also I know you get what you pay for, but like I said money's tight
you shouldn't need an amplifier for 6xx
as for quality
yes but like
it might be a 1% improvement for some in practice
don't expect a huge difference unless you have trained ears
or do critical listening sessions
okay, because we've tried a buddies schiit magni+modi and it was night and day for some things, so just save up for something like that?
do a matched volume test
use a db meter app and set the volume to the same amount while using a tone generator
90% of the time people mistake louder source for better sound
magni modi stack is really decent but it shouldn't be a night and day difference by any means
unless the other source is like particularly bad
i mean it's the cheapest b550 you can buy from asrock
I am looking into getting a dac+amp for my desktop, i only use iem’s so dont need crazy power.
What would be good options that are cheap ? <150$ the cheaper the better while having still great quality ofc.
Also what would be the difference between https://youtu.be/tTvgWoNRYkM?si=vIRRJkw6qmEZnHEg and something like the fiio k11 in terms of desktop usage and performance ?

i can personally recommend the fosi ds1 as an alternative
the one that comes with your phone
Just got these new (to me) Criterion 2000 speakers. One of the 8" woofers doesnt work. Does anyone have any idea on what to replace the one with? I dont want to replace both if I dont have to with keeping them sounding roughly the same. But not identical, I dont want to pay out of my arse for another 60+ year old woofer.
Do you know why it doesn't work?
is the voice coil broken?
things don't work for a reason, it might be as simple as a wire came disconnected in between the crossover and the driver
No, I do not. But I just got them all set up. I'll take them apart this weekend and take a look.
Yeah do that before asking about replacing the driver
chances are it just needs a quick resolder
im hype bfs birthday is coming soon and im either gonna get him an amp or some speakers i dunno which yet but i cant wait to pick something really nice for him
is it normal that when i drink coffee my whole body vibrates at a 750hz sine wave
Audeze Maxwell Wireless vs Nova Pro Wireless? or some other contender?
Maxwells worth it? I have used the arctis pro wireless for a while, will not having the battery hot-swap be annoying or is charging by cable not that bothersome?
maxwell’s are decent yh
Yep audeze maxwell
are maxwells real
No. Don't worry maxwells aren't real, they can't hurt you
If only they made the earpads bigger, the headphone 150g lighter and made the treble good
Maybe it'd be good
my logitech pro x headphones just died after 5 years RIP, any suggestions for a new pair of headphones?
Why do these 20 year old cheapo logitech speakers I found in my old closet lowkey sound good???https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/273509180747415555/1311794791423541370/Snapchat-742298488.mp4?ex=674a279a&is=6748d61a&hm=01e5ecb3bd6272394f80d4e5bd54f3dbd467c638ceb61f46c458c816d98fa59a&
I just grabbed them from my parents house to have something better than monitor speakers for just watching youtube etc
when I dont feel like wearing headphones
what band
they sound like FEX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMNBBeFIgdE

i aint watched this video but it should do a good job of explaining the band if anyone hasnt heard of them before. pretty much there was a mysterious song on the internet everyone wanted to find and it ended up getting found.
I currently have a 2017 blue yeti.
I’m exploring upgrades and I’m not opposed to xlr. Has anyone seen any deals for Black Friday for mics or kits.
Any thoughts on something I should look out for? Brands models etc
I state the year because I’ve heard quality dropped a lot in recent years lol
am8's pretty good
fifine am8 but honestly ask the podcastage discord for good avice i'd say
what is some good wireless headset up to 120€?
Depeche Mode
Bro
Literally one of the best bands from 80s and 90s
Yall can I get a rec for an av receiver
5.1, preferably with 2 zone capability tho it’s a low priority
It’s for my pc setup
My old one on the little table died after only a few weeks, not surprised tho, came from eBay
Also if u have a rec pls ping, i have this server muted
Rn they’re on a crazy sale, arctis pro wireless (go find them on steel series website, the sale isn’t on Amazon)
Denon and Marantz make some nice receivers
what would you reccomend, im not too knowledgable for the differenced between models and the such
my surround is 30-100w and 8ohm impedence
my left and right are 10-120w at 8ohm
my center is also 30-100w at 8ohm
i also do have a subwoofer, but obv thats wall powered
idk if it matters but its a polk
if possible less than 350$ new?
how about nova 5 wireless for 81€? are they good?
Hey yall! Any suggestions for wireless overear headphones for around $150? Mainly just plan on using them for listening to music while in coffee shops/airplanes, but I still want as best sound quality, noise cancellations and battery life as possible for the money. It looks like the beats studio pro are on a really nice sale right now ($160 from $350) so that is probably my number 1 choice right now, as somone that admittedly knows little to nothing about this niche of tech. I'm also looking at the Sennheiser ACCENTUM Plus as those are also on sale($150 from $200), and Toms guide recommended them for "best value". Thanks!
I do remember the novas being nice, but i don’t think the 5 has some features that are quite nice on the arctis
But that is def an option
they don't have USB and Bluetooth at the same time as the 7, but I don't mind that
overall they seem good
what would be better? CMF Buds Pro 2 or the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE?
i have the buds fe and theyre pretty good
they seem pretty good i'm just afraid of thier X2 ip rating
heard people say they were out in the rain and it went kaput
can anyone reccommend me ear buds? looking for something that has decent sound quality and battery life, preferably ones that don't cost an arm and a leg. i was thinking maybe jbl reflect aero because past experiences have been enjoyable
Are these ok?
I'm looking for something cheap, not a crazy quality
I have the 2022 version of these but the mic is meh (maybe this 2024 version is better)
I like music
I HATE music
yes, i also like the arctis for what seems like gimmicky features but i love
esp the hotswappable battery thing
If you guys had to pick only from this list, which would you pick?
Logitech G432 (Wired) $38
Logitech G335 (Wired) $45
Logitech G Pro X (Wired) $70
Hyper X Cloud Alpha (Wired) $60
HyperX Cloud 3 (Wired) $70
Corsair Void RGB Elite (Wireless) $70
Corsair HS65 (Wired) $40
hyperx 3 or corsair void
better audio on 3
wireless and rgb on void with pretty, similar audio
neither please
they’re all bad-awful for the price
Not everyone has the luxury to blow $200-300+ on a new headset.
My expense:income ratio sucks ass in this economy.
But I need to replace my 8 year old G930s.
Every 15 minutes or so, it disconnects and reconnects every 30 seconds for like 5 minutes straight.
I have a $40 Amazon US gift card that was given to me for Thanksgiving. I can put $20-25 on top of this gift card for a new headset.
If they're bad choices, it's all I got.
I can't just pick up a pair of Sennheisers or Audezes.
if you go to official steelseries website for cuber monday they have deals up to 60 percent ofvf
i would go there
teh deals also do not show up on amazon
I wouldn't buy headphones from steelseries lol
why is that?
they are pretty notorious
there is like 1 or 2 id call usable
and they aren't all that good either
they just throw fancy bloatware software onto low tier headphones and thats their sales model
yes but 60 percent off brother
despite that its still a nicer headset than you would find normally at this buying price
i wouldn't put a price on trash
depends on what ur calliing trash and if its the same to the average user
steelseries is much more comfortable than other headsets in normal price ranges, making it even better at more expensive ones
that's completely baseless
They make the most tightly sealed headphones ever
turns your ears into a sauna with extended use
they are kind of annoying as for their software, but their quality is definitely competitive at 60 percent off
I hope you live in antarctica if you want to use those headphones for longer than an hour
like any headset at 60 percent off like whaaat
brother what 💀
garbage x 0.40 = garbage
an item thats 120$ and is bad doesn't become good at 60% off it its still worse than the stuff you can get for 50$
but its not tho????
if its like a nova 7 I could tolerate it at 30-40$ maybe
thats about the only steelseries headphone id actually ever consider
alr bru this is dumb lmao im not staying for this lmaooo
if I were held at gunpoint to buy a wireless gaming headset and hyperx wasn't an option
you have zero argument
you haven't made a single comparison
you say its better than x but you don't define x
which steelseries headset at any price range is better performing than say, a cloud 2
comfortable headphones™️ btw
8 celsius temperature difference btw 😂
im not recommending most headphones
and there is no real reason I wouldn't recommend open back either
open back tends to be more expensive and suitable to less people
