fair enough 😭
should be enough to get the jist no? dont want it to be perfectly balanced just want a ballpark
Anyone know if a portable audio player with the following features exists: Spotify sync, long battery life, bonus if it has large storage or can be expanded, bonus if ruggedized, bonus if it has Audible support
Not even a ballpark.
Onyx box Palma might fit your bill
Or hisense touch. Idk if it supports Google play or expandable storage
any audio peeps want to help me out?
Im having some problems with shure sm7b idk if I need a new interface or what
let me guess, no cloudlifter?
Care to elaborate?
i have one
i think its mainly fixed but just a slight buzz
or background noise idk
I can send a vid in dms
damn focal elex now for 400 on headphones.com if you live in the states
3 years manufacturers warranty
can you be more specific?
no I looked at a listing and this is what it said
google it?
yea its a company
but like is it legit?
I thought the headset was called Collab Drop + EPOS PC38X Gaming Headset, Black
it is
where tf the demant sound come from
idk man.
you're asking me "is this one listing i found legit" and you're just giving me the name of the listing.
there is nothing in there that tells me if its legit or not
cause i am confused by the name
and im confused by you
not that the headset is legit or not
I can see the headset is legit
Like does pc38x do collabs and shit?
cause most of them that I saw are called Drop + Epos/sennheiser pc38x
yeah I know that part
But the listing I saw siad Demant Sound USA -collab
thats why I am confused
Is it like some worse version of pc38x
if its not on google then you should probably be suspicious at the least
best case scenario, this is someone making the listing and not knowing what they have
and just adding random crap to the name
i see
how to spot fake original marshall major 4
im sure this question has been asked 100000 times, anyone got a gaming headset with a budget of like $150 aud, if i need any other things aswell like a DAC / AMP that should be included in the price. i play some competitive games like siege but i don't take it too seriously. a mic included would be nice but if that comprimises anything i have a webcam i can use for a mic lol. thanks
Just get a Samson sr 850
And a replacement earpad
And then a usb microphone is all you need
And all of this can be had for less than 80
Then you can ofcourse get something like a fiio e10k
If you want a dac/amp (or heck even a fiio k3)
If not instead of the sr850 a cloud 2 works well too
And that is a device with a inbuilt microphone
apparently the new cloud 2's arent that good.
Really I have heard them a long while back
They were fine, guess they cheaped out later on
it was something to do with a swap from Kingston to HP. also would you say a dac/amp is necessary for a "gaming headset", for example like a razer blackshark v2 or like an arctic nova 7
Usually no
They are fairly easy to drive
So the motherboard audio is absolutely enough
also 1 more thing, what would you say is the difference between a "gaming" headset and a studio headset?
Headset means it has a microphone
Headphone is the headphone only no microphone
And honestly speaking
Studio headphones tend to have a nearly flat tuning
Whereas gaming have a varied sound signature
Tho functionally a good headphone is a good headphone
Doesn't matter what it's called
one of my mates was telling me about the SHP9600 not too sure on what the consensus on it is though. also for the Samson sr 850 where do i find the ear pads?
Any 100 or 110 mm pads work
Never heard the shp9600
So can't comment
just to throw out one more idea, do you have any experience in actual speaker systems? that could be an alternative i look at.
Actual speakers for 150
Unlikely to be worth it
But i don't have much if any experience with speakers
alright thanks. regarding the Samson sr 850, ive been using my razer kraken v2's for about 6 years, would you say these are similar in size? i wouldnt mind a smaller pair of headphones but i find a heavier pair more comfortable.
They should be the same size
And most likely would be lighter
The sr850 that is
If you want a heavier headphone stuff like the hifiman he400se is there (it's a fairly divisive headphone and has some qc issues, but I do like it and mine has been working well for the past 2 years)
any headphones that sound around the same as wh1000-xm5 but also are water resistant?
also that can be used in both wired and wireless modes
flat
varied
samson sr850
fiio e10k
which internet top 10 article did you read to find this much misinformation
I found the sr850 to be fine
And as the person said max 150 for all of them to fit in the 150 budget the e10k was the only option
Someone give this man grados and argons
Literally polar opposites
also the budget is $400 ± 20
Yeah.....
He did say studio headphones
Yeah that would be my mistake
reference headphones are flat
When I meant studio I was talking about reference headphones
I just tend to keep grados and argons in the audiophile section and forgot they do actually in fact fit in the studio category
why would you recommend someone e10k
The new ones were fine enough
I did say they don't need it
at best they are equal to motherboard audio
Hence why k3
why would they need the k3 either
its a 100$ headphone
dynamic one
direct diminishing return
Yes
issue is these aren't items anyone would need under any circumstances
they are realtek sound cards on steroids
its direct diminishing returns
preface: not an audio guy
i wanna get a pair of headphones for a flight.
currently looking at Sony WH-CH520
the vast majority of the time plane entertainment systems are just a 3.5mm jack.
now while adpaters like the one below exists. googling for an answer has people saying they wont work as 3.5mm jack only carries an analogue signal and wont be inherrentrly converted.
please let me know if this would work or not, thanks
TYPE C audio cable for headphone Take this USB C aux cord with your headphone, then you can enjoy the lossless sound quality music in a coffee shop , in a garden , running , or everywhere you go. Let the music healing you, the world is all yours. USB C aux cord for Speaker Connect your cellphone ...
No that won't work
so id have to get a headset that natively has 3.5mm right?
yes
What are the best headphones for immersive pc gaming? Idc about RGB, wireless connectivity, or mic. Just the purest and best audio quality
uh
Hd800 is pretty good
has good imaging
wouldn't call it the best audio quality
unless you are like, slaving for competitive
Are there any closed audiophile headphones?
yes, bad ones
closed backs are a physically limited technology with fundemental issues
which limits how good they can be
that makes them a significant diminishing return very fast the more you pay
I mean. Kinda?
I really liked the meze liric. It's not as good as, say, a 109 pro but it's the best closed back ive heard.
The DCA E3 is apparently also not that bad.
What about something like the BD DT 770 Pro?
I currently use the worst sounding headphones (Corsair HS80)
He asked for immersion and the hd800s are pretty immersive.
immersive in what
making stuff sound drowned out?
it has stage and imaging
everything else I can't call anything but alright
Part of immersion for me is to also block out my roommates partying in the living room and my fan shaking my room up
So that’s why I’m more inclined to closed backs
in ear monitors can be a better investment
superior isolation to closed backs
but the soundstage is existent sometimes
idk tho I haven't listened to meze liric like nils has
I’ll look into that. Currently the best isolating headphones I have is the APM… but they are terrible with pc gaming because they are inherently not designed for wired use
Of course that has ANC and completely falls short in active soundstage.
check out truthear hexa
I am one the fence on iems
There something a headset covering my ears makes me very comfortable
open backs are ideal but they make good portable fi
Audeze Maxwell might be another decent choice, but they don't have any ANC
hey, im looking to buy some speakers, I have no idea what to buy
I really want some with very good bass and good sound quallity
How much do you wanna spend
And how good of bass?
Bookshelf speakers are out they require a subwoofer
That will depend entirely on the price. The only other factor is available space to take up.
If you want good bass, you're gonna need a subwoofer
alternatively, if you can afford a floorstanding speaker that has decent bass and doesnt have any problems everywhere else, then you could have easily afforded a subwoofer anyways
and now you just have some high SPL speakers that could have been bookshelves anyways
I got the Klipsch rp600 II they sound amazing but no sub bass kinda die a 45-50hz
Also have the 800 towers they don’t require a sub
well then what does it mean to require a sub
because those 800 towers are still gonna roll off at 30-40hz
maybe even earlier than that since klipsch loves to ingratiate their specs
Are these the good ones people like?
No
What’s the difference between the Beyerdynamic 770 Pro, 700 Pro X, and 1770 Pro
Why does the 770 Pro top all ratings despite being so cheap
It does? Its one of the worst in their linup
What would you recommend then?
What are ypu looking for?
So what is a 150-350 headphone open or closed back that you’d recommend that is wired and close to audiophile quality for music listening and cinematic games?
Something I can use on my phone and wire up to my pc, good battery life, and good quality
Well if you want beyerdynamic, dt 880 pro or tygr 300r. Sennheiser hd560s is also a great option
What about 990 Pro?
Worse than 880
Need active noise canceling?
It’d be nice but not a requirement
take a look at the audeze maxwell
i dont need a mic with it, i have a seperate mic
the mic comes off
maybe 20-40 bucks
As good as it can get
I put emphasis on the bass
hi guys I am thinking of getting xm5 headphones but they look pretty expensive, are there any cheaper alternatives which sound as good, have anc as good or better and also can be used in both wired and wireless modes?
just give me the best 40$ can buy man
what do you think about these
Hama 2.1 LPR-2180
to get them used
you might find an off-brand usb powered 2.1 speaker system for that price
but generally bass is not obtainable for $40
What should i consider getting hyperx cloud 2/3 or dt 770 pro or hyperx alpha
Creative pebbles
Does it have to be those three?
Why does everyone want closed backs suddenly
is there a better one?
because it's better?
- preference
Measurably incorrect.
.
Preferences sure. But we tend to steer people away from closed back here
good for you?
Pc37x or pc38X should be on your radar.
pc37x is really nice for music
what of it is better
yeah
btw why does my right ear of my headphones sometimes makes a little static sound when bass comes
hair in driver
^
Or with great passion
do i need to remove the pads?
yes
tbh if you are lucky the end of hair may be stuck on the cloth part of the inside of the ear pad
had it happen to me once
could it also be a hair sticking out
sometimes i hear the rattling and sometimes i odnt
i do it on the frequencies it triggers it and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt
because its a hair its location isn't static
it moves with gravity and gets pushed away from the driver
That’s a nice upgrade that is
How many servers have you posted this in
I bought the DT 1990 Pro by Beyerdynamic for critical music listening and gaming. Is there a way to get Dolby Atmos Music on windows? Is it necessary to truly enjoy the audio? Do y’all stream music on audiophile headphones connected to a pc or download the raw files? Is there a place to get those raw files?
- Probably. Check Google.
- No. It's not necessary.
- I stream music on audiophiles connected to my PC and I use raw files.
- I get mine from bandcamp but you can do both by using qobuz.
Do I need an amp for 250 ohm headphones? I’ve heard my Yeti Blue mic has an inbuilt amp to handle 250 ohms
No
You need an amp for any headphones, it’s a question of whether the amp you have is powerful enough
I've been a traditional pianist for quite a few years now, but I'm looking to get into making digital music. I need some suggestions for a MIDI keyboard with good Linux support, and a sub $150 price tag.
I've heard good things about those, and I've been looking at some speakers as well. How bassy are they? I want some good low cost speakers, but anything with too much bass is out.
And for 99% of situations the basic amp that comes with whatever you buy is gonna be good enough
Exactly
So then why complicate things with anything other than "don't worry about it"
There's maybe fewer than 10 headphones (estats excluded) that aren't usable with the bare minimum
Not that bassy at all
i think they roll off at like 100ish hz. so not that much bass at all. they're good for desktop use but they're $20 so dont expect much
wait
the pebble plus 2.1 is on sale
I haven't seen a subwoofer that gets powered by an rca cable before
20 years from now some teenager who likes old tech will find that subwoofer in the garage and blow out their tv's rca jacks
it will be beautiful
guys do u know about this sound card? is that good?
thats why we dont put our volume at 100%
Hello!
Long time since asking a question, but I found no good answers when googling...
I have an old Pioneer A-702R connected to my PC. Input on the Amp is AUX and motherboard only have a "line out" which only have "front speaker out" as setting in windows.
On my old computer (10+ years ago) using AC97 output, 3% in winamp and 50% master volume was enough to deafen me, but my 2 recent computer have had quite low volume, now 100% in windows and 50% in winamp is sounding similar to that old setting...
Did output levels drop at some point? Or is it the lack of an actual Line Out that is causing it?
What can I get to improve on the sound level from my PC, if anything?
Edit: Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z790 aorus elite ax and I am using the built in audio card for the amplifier
Quality wise, it's ugreen so I imagine it'll be pretty good quality, but for not much more money I think it'll definitely be worth getting a full desktop interface from Beringer or m-audio
You can get a decent duel channel interface for maybe £50
Have a look into the UM2 From behringer
e-waste
get an apple dongle
can u reccomend me some good headphone sbetter than dt 770
budget?
140 since im returnin my current dt 770 rattlign sounds still happening even though ive tried clearing the hair 4 times and no results
i dont got amp for these
you don't need one
he400se
he does need an amp for those however
40 bucks leftover for an amp
is there any cheaper ones in case?
akg k371 are cheaper closed backs
k361 as well
k371 essentially k361 with a bit more bass
Too late i ordered from AliExpress
Why bother asking about a product and buying it before getting a response 🤣
this
Actually i bought it before asking
how long will AKG K371 last approximetely
how shit is the hyperx cloud alpha than AKG K371
wht about cloud 3?
i dont know
how do you test qualioty you?
wouldn't be surprised if its just bad though
frequency response and comments of people I know
but on rtings
cloud alpha is better that's why im confused
what's a good one?
where do i get the graph
rtings
look at raw graphs
and graphs only tell some of the story
so speaking to someone with good standards and has listened to the headphone is important
headphones like these generally dont vary a lot in driver technology so technicalities generally are similar
Does anyone have experience with the open back Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro? I’ve heard they are good for critical listening and I tend to use them for listening to music - especially classical and Neo classical. I’ve heard that since they are open back, they sacrifice a bit on bass… just exactly what form of bass does it sacrifice? Like is it so much that the lower keys on a piano won’t be audible at all - or the bassy instruments in a Hans Zimmer concert won’t exist?
where could hair be located that is making the freq be fucked?
below the metal mesh
overpriced af
yeah
how do i even remove that part?
so wtf do i do
you grab the hair through the holes with a tweezer
ive taken them out before
is it visible?
your chances of disassembly are low
and your chances of putting one together is like
really low
i mean ive managed it 😅
it's easy to disemblee till taking off the cotton thing that's protecting the speaker?
treading on very thin ice
where the hair is stuck?
on top of the diaphragm
im trying rn again
even if you disassemble it and put it back together
there is a significant change something is altered
most of the time the grills are a part of the driver so they go kaput the moment you take them off
feel free to try but I am not taking responsibility for it
i dont see a hair?
blow on it
rub it with cloth gently
put it back together
make sure everything is secure
i muist be gettinbg confused
@warm scarab is i inside the drivers or above the fiber wool?
in the driver
so underneath the fiber wool correct?
underneath the metal grills
the fiber just surrounds it
there isn't anything below it probably
the 2nd phot i sent
am i meant to remove the hair fromt here
no
the
on
top
of the
fucking diaphragm
does that look like a diaphragm to you
open a driver chart from google
inspect what a driver's structure is like
the moving part
the hair will be on top of the moving part
aka the diaphragm
do i need to remove the fiber wool?
maybe I don't know your driver structure
it's the dt 770
I don't know it, I have never disassembled it
the hair is generally in the mesh here
is it there the hair?
no
nvm
go watch a video deconstructing the driver
see at what step he finds the diaphragm
its supposed to be a transparent plastic layer generally
do i need to remove the cables?
connected to the headphones?
no
why do they remove it the others?
what
should be bothered doing it my self or return it and let others do it
i can't reutrn it it's been 5 months
headphone made relevant by durable and massively disposable to studios 30 years ago
say headphone driver is rattling
and you want refund
ez money
for other headphones yeah
never returned a dt770
never bought one
the time I spent with it at the demo room was plenty
how long did u owned a pair of headphoens and u got ur cash back?
like a year
shit breaking falls under warranty
and in most countries every consumer electronic item has 2 years of mandatory warranty
do you think a company will e able to find the receipt/warranty if you bought it online and you got every shop order detail etc.?
maybe
sometimes they have id stickers in headphones
but you may have voided the warranty by opening up the driver depending on the country you live
which is the case in united states
but isn't in europe and most of its surroundings
i didnt open the driver up i removed the pad
is that fine?
yeah its fine
alr i will call them tmrw thanks
@warm scarab does the rattle tend to only happen on studio headphones?
whats the best eq app for microphone and headphones
Have you tried turning it off and on again
unlikely
that price category is dominated by brands and models nobody has encountered
and few of those models would exist in india anyways
For that price just search "headset" and pick the cheapest one with decent reviews
How do you prevent hair going into the driver
i just remove it when mine go into it
When it goes completely in the headphones?
In the headphone driver?
yes
dt770 driver has stupid amounts of dampening so its difficulty
no headphone I have has a diaphragm that inaccessible
i just remove the earpads and then pluck them out with tweezers
lmao that's what I have been doing since the last 8 years
i finally thought I might get some branded shit
there's this brand "cosmic byte" and "zebronics" , I've been looking too
for $20 i would look at in ear monitors instead of over ear headsets
IEMs with a cable that has a microphone will sound better for you and the people listening to you compared to a $20 over ear headset
What’s the best iems for listening to music and gaming at around $100 or less
Be a lot more specific
As in what do you mean by "items"
Oh
Sorry 🤣
I read that as items I'm such an idiot 🤣
Nah it’s fine
I have AirPod pros rn
Well
I’m not planning on using them like on my phone
Just in general
But
Actually I'm not super big on IEMs myself but crinicle has actually just come out with a set for around $80
Hang on
These earbuds have been like the best sounding ones
So I just want like the something that will take me to next level
I want to feel the music

Have a look into these, I personally have no experience but he is basically the IEM guy
it's $10 over but the Simgot EM6L are pretty good
the truthear nova are better but those are $50 over budget
Actually
Let’s bump it to like
$200
Or less
truthear nova easily then
Will be for sure better than AirPod pros
Like I literally have not found anything better
do you listen to bass heavy music
if you listen to a lot of rock and metal then id probably get simgot em6l over the novas
Like I don’t like
Bass focused
Nah
I listen to a verity of things
But not like bass
Not that much
novas dont have boosted mid-upper bass so genres that dont have much bass could sound thinner than you're used to
I would say
but they have outstanding clarity
i think youll like them then
@unique wind
yah wassup
I have a issue with my Unitra Julia Stereo. I can only hear static on medium waves and i can quietly hear Polskie Radio Jedynka on long waves. When i touch a part of the ferrite antenna the volume on PR1 is correct, and i can hear some mumbling on medium waves. What could be the cause?
Damnn... I connected the DT 1990 Pro to an amp and my PC and music seems as if they are tickling my ears to pleasure. Until now I used Corsair HS80 Wireless headphones and did not know what real audio is like
what's a solid pair of wireless headphones under $100 that don't look stupid
(i'm a casual)
JBL Tune 760NC
yep exactl;y what another server topld me lol
its the default recommendation
I discovered something interesting about this radio. So, in the 70's and 80's there was a soviet FM band called OIRT (65.5mhz-73 , later 74mhz) . My Julia has most of the western fm band originally , by that i mean 87,5-100mhz , while the normal FM band is 87,5-108mhz. The previous owner retuned the old FM band to the missing part of the new fm band. What's interesting is that the retuned band can recieve signals from 98mhz to about 110mhz. And the CCIR band on the reciever is a bit retuned too, it can recieve signals between 87,5-101mhz.
Hi, looking for a cheap $30 Collar microphone, I have Comica CVM-V03 Lavalier in mind, any better alternate option? up to $50 if there's a better one.
I got them !!!
Wow nice
nice, i don’t want to ruin the moment but,
how much did you pay?
but i will ruin it >
the cheapest I could find
well, if you’re not just up sound they’re fine
wdym
they’re not the most neutral heaphones
I like the sound in them
Thanks
Will an amp benefit me for a 250 ohm headphone if I have an Asus ROG Strix Z690-E motherboard? I cannot find the impedence or power output for its integrated sound card
Because I just got an amp for $30 (The Stagge SHA 4) and it made hissing sound which turned into loud horror like noises that tore my eardrums and stopped working
Is this good? It doesn’t say “Gold Plated”
If you don't like your motherboard output then a nicer amp will benefit you yes.
It’s just not loud enough with my motherboard
Gotcha.
Take a look at the fosi ds1
Avtually
Get this.
It's just an amp, no DAC included. So you'll need to get a 3.5mm to RCA converter cable and plug this into your motherboard audio
Also - how do I make sure the gain knob on an amp is correctly in place. Is it common to hear tearing and static if the knob is turned too high?
Or was it just my cheap quality amp
That caused the static noise
That was just your amp probably.
It could have been your computer making things noisy too.
But if the computer noise is leaking through to your audio, it's still a bad sign for the DAC/amp
I can turn my amp all the way up, enough to blow up my headphones and give me permanent hearing damage, and not hear a single thing if nothing is playing
Does anyone have any experience with creating DIY battery packs as a replacement for the Sennheiser BA 2015 G2?
They use two Panasonic HHR-150AA-1Z (€6 each) cells and a temperature probe.
We have a couple that run out of battery in just 2 hours, but replacing them at €70 each is a bit steep.
guys ive made a mic using an electret condenser for normal calls on discord, do i need some kind of preamp or is it just wire the gnd n positive n good to go?
got a new cable
here is a picture from someone with a good camera 💀
the texture is so nice
looks sick
Ty
It's a forza audioworks cable
The cable sleeving is pvc so it's not as flexible as silicone unfortunately. But I can live with how flexible it is.
What are good wireless headphones for someone with a big head found the xm4s to small will be using them for watching tv and console gaming
A real amp makes all the difference with headphones...
so my Fifine k688 broke so i need to find a new mic. does anyone have a good quality mic that is 20-50 dollars?
Samson go
hey guys i seen the sennheiser profile and feel really temped to pick it up but are any better mic in 2024 . i seen mic with rgb and better capsules but comprises on sound quality , i usually use nvoice metter for every thing it be nice to have a mic with a good noise gate and voice pickup when your whipering and speaking softly
On a scale from 1-10, how stupid of an idea is it to convert SACD/DSF format music to PCM by playing it out a 3.5mm jack and rooting that to a Line-In jack and recording it?
the sound on my headphones randomly starte dpulsing, does anyone know why
You can convert dsd to PCM via software
No need to go through a DA/AD chain
Sony MDR-XB700 and MDR-XB1000
While the pads on the XB1000 are very worn out, they are so much more comfy compared to the aftermarket ones
NaN?
So i have a firewire audio interface that i want to use however my computer only have a USB A port. Does anyone know if there is any possible way that i can connect it?
They do make Firewire PCIe cards, but who knows if they'll work with the audio interface you have - there may not be modern Windows 10/11 drivers available for the audio interface itself.
https://www.startech.com/en-ca/cards-adapters/pex1394a2v2
is there another way since the computer i want to plug the interface nto is a laptop(sorry i did not made it clear earlier)
No idea. I'm sure there are USB to Firewire adapters, but I'm unfamiliar with them as I stopped using Firewire back when they were essentially phased out in 2012.
oh lol ill give it a try thanks for the advice
I'm looking for headphones (w/o mic) that have great build quality as well as delivering great surround sound. Basically my budget would be ranging from $80 to $150 CAD. I mainly plan on using it for competitive gaming be it fps or 6dof genres. What headphones would you recommend for that price range?
That's a limitation of Windows. You can fix it by using Voicemeeter in combination with Dante. Or by using a Macbook, sadly Dante does not support Linux.
EDIT: Just realized that message was very long ago. Was just looking for some stuff related to Dante.
Dante Via is garbage software though, if you use VLC to play something, it will take a few seconds for it to make the connection on the Dante network, meaning you miss the first couple of seconds of audio.
Take a look at the Sennheiser hd560s
pretty much anything sennheiser hd500 series would be good
I started with the 518s and loved em
got them on ebay for $50
fiio jt1 for 80 eur
Any recomindations for good budget audiophile headphones?
we cant reccomend anything if you dont tell us what you want
HD6xx
What budget?
The world may never know
Perferably nothing over 100 but its flexable
Koss ksc75 is usually the budget pick or maybe the shp9600
Akg k361. Iem memes.
Aight I want to get a better audio setup. looking at getting a Sennheiser HD 6XX. being broke as can be at the moment, how impossible would these be to drive off mother board audio. I would like to get an AMP/Dac at the same time but I dont' think the funds would be there at the same time. Should I just wait and buy them at the same time or could I get away with buy them a few months apart?
It's very possible to run them off of mother board audio
So buy the 6xxs now and later on, if you feel like you want to upgrade, you can get a fosi ds1 or some sort of cx31993 dongle DAC
I was really liking the look of a schiit stack eventually. You hear good things from them?
Yeah
I've had some schiit.
I had the Asgard and a piety.
Piety used the same potentiometer as the magnis, and it had some annoying channel imbalances at the extremes.
So if you have your eyes on a schiit stack, look at the Asgard or midgard with a modius or modi
from the little research i have done the magni and modi were what I am currently considering.
Still kinda on the fence about the headphones. I want to make sure I buy once cry once if you know what i mean. Any recomendations on planar headphones?
Man I really wish there was an audio shop in town where I could try some of these. Audio is so subjective... T_T
I mean. To a degree.
The philosophy and what goals a headphone should achieve can be subjective
But once you settle on that, you can be pretty objective about audio
I'll do some digging on return policies. My main concern with that is open vs closed. I've only ever tried closed back
I really like what I've heard about open and it sounds like what I want
If youre worried about the big cost, you can get some porta pros os ksc75s
They're much cheaper than the 6xxs
I'm still gonna tell you to get the 6xxs eventually though.
Yup buy once cry once
Looks like I might just have to jump for it and hope theres a 30 money back or something
been rocking Logitech G933's for a while. There showing age and if i have to get a replacement might as well go for the good stuff.
there are headphones I like more for less than the hd6xx. it's not your only option. but it's still a relatively "safe" option, as in it's pretty inoffensive in tone and does a little bit of everything
master of none except maybe timbre of real life instrument recordings
and yes you can run it excellently off of a $8 dongle dac or most modern desktop motherboards
Just got some HD600s, best headphones I've had yet
true or false
dont care
launch email
we could be looking at the demon child of the dt990 driver and earpads in an m50x chassis
shp9600 was horrible
how do you define shp9600
this what i need for this?
depends what youre tryna do?
Yo guys!
yes
For purely gaming one of the best sub 100 dollar headphones
For music not so much
How do people in here feel about HD 490 pros?
I'm debating upgrading from my HD598s or just buying new padding for them because it's about that time after 12-15 years
very bad
been a while ^^. What is your rationale?
its just a bad headphone
not much else to say
sennheisers bottom of the barrel lineup
As comparison, how do you feel about the 6xx/600
what were you thinking of?
I don't know about it but I am pessimistic about the outcome
literally every other 4** headphone
prior cheap latter expensive
prior better
I was debating on 6xx for a long time and now thinking of 490 pros. But some people like 6xx vs those and other people don't. Some people talk about viel (?) and detail and fuck if I know what that stuff means
I couldn't say honestly haven't listened to hd490
Audio shopping is annoying =.=
yeah veil
treble falloff that senns have
Well I read somewhere that veil doesn't even necessary means that
(I ain't got a clue what I'm reading or what is right or wrong)
honestly I can't say anything concrete but I wouldn't be very optimistic about what sennheiser releases new
i did try to google what that meant and people didn't seem to agree
6xx is a classic sort of
not something you can entirely go wrong with
i personally don't like it a whole lot but its not bad
It needs to have enough 'wow' impact to justify the cost
That's kind of hard to determine without actually listening to them irl for a while
can't you buy them and return them if they don't sound good
that's what most audio people do
if the item is inaccessible in audio demo shops
I could buy 2-3 headphones all at the same time and return 2 after having like 30 days to demo them if I did amazon
I'd just prefer not too with expensive items like that
also 6xx is drop or pay 80$ more on amazon
rip
I mean you could wait for hd490 to get demoed enough
wait until it gets some good graphs out
come to a conclusion then
but I couldn't answer you whether the 6xx is worth it or not that is a completely personal question
I watched alot of audio people talk about it. I've heard pros and cons and it seems like alot of is preference. But you'd also need to really understand your preferences and what exactly that is
I wouldn't trust a youtuber with a soul of me
affiliate links
every single one of them
I don't trust anything, but I will listen to 5-10 different people and see what they say and provide
make sure none of them are youtubers
some of them provide their own graphs, but I also know I know very little about audio
I don't care if they have affiliate links so long as what they say isn't wrong
Having affiliate links gives them very good reasons to be optimistic about every item they review
I do understand that can and does happen
that is why I watch alot of them
one thing I noticed with the reviews with the graphs is that it matters which set of earpads you use. Apparently the results can be quite different
yeah going with aftermarket pads generally turn out poorly
damn rtings graphs dropped
lets see
no, it comes with two oem sets of pads. Mixing vs Producer pads
Never heard of that with any headphone having two completely different pads like that
the headphones have been out for a few months. So there are plenty
Some people prefer 490s over their 6xx and other people prefer the 6xx but understand why people would like the 490s better with blah blah blah preferences
what is the pricetag on these
399
nah
not worth it lol
its the cost of an edition xs + an amplifier
id stick to 6xx
or xs + amp if you want to down 400$
The dual headphone jack thingy is kind of seems annoying
I have an amp
those things are like 380$ so not much cheaper
what amp
schiit
xs b stock is around 230-300$
which of the 15 amps they made
3+?
magni hearsy
it was black/red
they had to match D:
Im biased towards spending 400$ to a dynamic headphone when I can get an incredibly competitively priced planar for 230-300$
i really want a tube amp again. I don't dislike this amp, but i honestly enjoyed my 45$ crap tube amp sometimes alot more
It had a certain sound I really miss
go get a 500$ one next
unironically thats the point where they level up significantly
bottlehead crack my love
I don't know if I can appreciate one of that level
whenever this amp/dac dies, ill reconsider but I am not looking forward to that day
I don't enjoy audio stuff tbh
That may not happen for a long time
id never be too sure with schiit
yep but it was a good first set imo so far.
other than my cheap tube amp I bought on amazon for 30$ that had no enclosure
It still works and I have it
it just gets alot of static noises now
honestly the more I look into it, most people just think 490s would be fine if the 6xx,600,650 didn't exist
i may end up buying new pads for my hd598. I think that dual audio connectors would be kind of annoying
Well the dual audio connectors let's you pick a side, don't they
That seems like the opposite of annoying
Almost convenient
The hd490s allow you to change sides, but on the HD 6xx? I think you need both in, no?
Yes
I just recommended audeze maxwell to someone and they actually bought it
instead of cheaping out

One of the three planers that are worth it
are the other two the edition xs and the lcd-5?
Liric and tungsten
(these are my opinions)
i have amazing speakers but their rca and i js ordered a rca to aux cable but idk of its long enough 😭
Trued plugging it in my tv but its like “wheres the other cable”
its mid
hd600/6xx better
at lower price
was surprised to see actual Sennheiser continue with headphones

why is that??
because they sold the consumer division, which made most of the headphones
hd600/650 are still some of the most popular headphones for studio use
probably more than dt1990
wonder if there is a 200-250$ wow factor coming from hd598
You mean DT770
Idk man studio uses DT770 like crazy tho
Back at it again I do make sure my neighbors ain’t home tho (most of the time)
I’ve been looking into getting a new standalone microphone, I use it a lot and want a high quality microphone.
Currently have a Blue Yeti which has quite a few years on it, outliving two PC’s so far but it picks up a lot of noise, especially from my keyboard.
Been seeing a lot of praise for the Steelseries Alias, especially the Alias Pro.
https://steelseries.com/alias
Wondering if it’s a good replacement for my Blue Yeti or do you lads have any other suggestions?
The Alias Microphone family has perfect options for gamers looking for premium audio quality and advanced controls.
I can’t fit a large boom on my desk, so it’ll have to be on its own stand.
For reference, I talk a lot with others, sometimes as a speaker for symposiums and just with my mates in large scale games such as ArmA. So very good audio quality is important.
Kali lp-unf or swissonic a306
That's gonna be the biggest contributor to your "my mic picks up everything" problem.
Without a proper boom arm, if your mic is sitting on your desk if the keyboard is that close to it, it's gonna pick that up.
So if a boom arm isn't in the question, then maybe consider a modmic or a lapel mic.
basically warranting you will consistently have subpar audio unless you are a midget or sit very low
or idk significant posture problems
Gaming mode™️
It’s on a decent height, just below my chin
Yeti is gigantic though
you can definitely put an arm in there
you have a ton of space
both under your monitor and to the sides
you can even mount one upside down on the shelf with the rifle
To the right the closet door opens, to the left the cabinet opens
rifle shelf
you can route it under the monitor
you'd also hit the monitor with the closet door if it was that bad
In combination with a boom arm, would the Alias Pro be a good option?

My budget is yes
As long as the price and quality is equal, willing to spend a fair bit
If you want reliability the way to go is audio interface plus xlr mic
one time solid purchase
The Alias Pro is also an XLR mic
let me see
oh its the shitty gamedac thing
but interface
xm8500
behringer c1
go to youtube and listen to people using these mics, hear how they sound compared to alias pro
20$ for the prior 50$ for the latter
interface cost would be like 40ish$
Honestly looking for something relatively portable and that doesn’t need a massive setup or pop filter to block my field of view. Budget is anywhere up to around €1,000 ideally.
Mainly for on my desk for gaming, partially and very rarely for taking with me for when I’m a speaker
You don't need a pop filter
pop filters sound good but they are for serious use
its a minor change over windscreens
which the alias would also benefit from
you can also avoid downloading bloatware by buying any other mic
Seen setups with really small microphone booms, ones that stand on a desk but hang far away from the central point, if that makes sense
Are those any good or would you be more inclined to a proper large arm you connect to the desk
anything that keeps the mic within several centimeters of your mouth would work
your standard boom arm is very good at reaching the position you need it in, staying there, and moving to another position which is why its recommended so often
yes
or at least I think so, coming from hd560s to hd600 and hd6xx
which happened in the reverse order
the dual cable is almost a deal breaker for me but I know I def don't want the 490 pros now
Best mic in the world won't matter if it's placed terribly.
And you don't need a €1000 mic.
For talking to people on discord using $20 headphones
Would the Alias be a better option than my old USB Blue Yeti on the same setup?
Perhaps with a boom later on, I got a discount on it
Or should I just keep the yeti
blue yeti made my life hell for a decade +
How come?
It captures literally everything
For me it captures every thump and bump and harder keystrokes, as long as I have an volume gate it’s mostly fine
And God forbid you need to use your blue yeti but don't have it running through virtual cables because that everyone's going to be subjected to your hell
So far I’ve had it for about a decade, it gets incredibly dirty and there’s a dent in it from when my cat threw down a bayonet on it
I still have mine box but like fuck that. If I need to capture background noise also use it but until then never again
Ever
The amount of software crap I had to do on that stupid fucking mic. Krisp made it bare able
I use dynamic mic now so it's not worry
Just reached the time to buy a new keyboard.
Steelseries Apex Pro got a lot of praise from my friends so I decided to check the website and came across the Alias Pro.
So that’s how I rolled into perhaps if I get a new keyboard I’ll also get a new microphone that has more tuning and is better than the Yeti
I have spend more time on software and equalisers with the Yeti than I spend building two PC’s
How did you have it set up
I have 13 years worth of different solutions
I can tell you how it ended. I just used krisp
I even use the desktop version for like a year
It’s extremely sensitive on higher gain but if you turn it too far down it sounds like you’re talking through a fishbowl.
I have mine on my desk on its stand, set to cardioid, 72% volume on my PC and with the gain turned just about 5-10%.
Even then it still picks up if I type fast / louder
Then again, I have a Corsair K70 which is loud as fuck
your specific problem is you're not using a boom arm.
Turn auto gain off too in discord, that's probably a good chunk of the problem too
I don’t even have auto gain
I used a boom arm and that did not make anything much better. Even a boom arm not connected to my desk so it didn't get the vibrations
It's turned off in discord?
The only thing I miss about the Blue Yeti is a physical mute button that blinks when muted
But now I have an LED ring and a hot key so it's about the same.
Not only using discord!
Microsoft teams, Teamspeak, hospital software ect
Discord is the lowest priority
Okay.
I'm pretty happy with my beacn. I Know audiophile may not like it but it just works for me
Get an xm8500 and an elgato wave.
xm8500 is a bog standard dynamic
Elgato wave has vocal processing like noise gate, compression, and a lot of gain control so you can dial in your settings
I definitely see a value in the onboard processing in a mic
OBS is free, but this is easier
I don't have to mess with anything stupid since it all happens in the microphone instead of having to go through virtual cables and this and that. At least for my use cases
Yeah
I used OBS stuff for my blue yeti but I was just like still not happy. I actually used to route my obs audio through Discord so I could use the filters
For a while I just had to start up the virtual webcam for it to work LOL
I'd stop taking tech advice from people who recommend apex pros
It’s just costly, that’s the main complaint
Its like any other keyboard you can buy
but more expensive and particularly not pleasant to write with
most aliexpress stuff is equivalent or better in quality these days
while costing less
Plus you wont have to use steelseries gg
not nesseciliary with it having rapid trigger
but still wont be as good as wooting
and i think theirs some other chinese boards that may be better than steelseries for rapid trigger
i disagree as someone with rapid trigger
not having a certain activation point just throws you off
it depends on what you use it for, for example osu players notice a difference
theirs still an actuation point at 0.2mm or 0.4mm depending on what you set it on.
personally i notice the difference and once i got used to it its all good
I know
but it being linear makes it hard to tell without extensive muscle memory
i havent noticed that, i kind of just play, not sure how much better i play compared to non rapid trigger keyboard but probably similar.
but i wouldnt call it a gimmick
personally
personally ive only seen demerits to using it in any setting
i aint, maybe when i was getting used to it
and occasionally in typing, but not often
i would say; its not a gimmick, it depends on the player. for most people they don't need one, i got one just for the sake of having rapid trigger. i would say for most people they don't need it.
"Gimmick" has been promoted to an "extremely niche tool"
actually also good for cs and stuff, i remember seeing a video on it with earely wooting
i believe you can use it as an easier way to make your steps quiet in cs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WNI-f6QDPQ
Yes! Courtesy of Wooting's analogue keyboard: the Wooting One. Check out their keyboard here: https://www.wooting.nl/

it was mentioned in this video
but i think you need the skills to actually take advantage i suppose.
most peoples setup likely have some thing else that would bottle neck it for (for example, my mouse isn't suited for me, waiting for my new one to arrive so that's my bottle neck), although il end this here since its geting offtopic
gearmaxxing is not a substitute for skill
you got a ton of things to improve ever before touching your setup
you don't see many esports players using rapid trigger if any
What is a good enough sound bar? Just got a new tv and the speakers aren't great, but I don't have a lot of money to spend
incredibly subjective question
but if you want bang for buck speakers are the general way
soundbars catch up to speakers relatively late on the price scale
I don't want to spend too much, like only $75ish
Oof, how much do you think then?
I could save and get better ones later, just use the TV ones for now
I know nothing about audio 😦 just need something that'll be better than the upwards facing speakers in the tv
like 110$ ig
I generally do desktop stuff I don't know what tvs need
That's doable for sure
like near fields decent for pcs are that much
but tvs are long distance I don't know how they would fare at all
especially considering they don't have a subwoofer
Uh try asking in a discord server called sonic visions
Its filled to the brim with speaker nerds
Lol okay will do!! Thank you
Does anyone have any recommendations for nice closed back headphones? I have a pretty big head and its hard to find comfortable headphones.
i use a vizio soundbar (5.1 with 2 satlittes and slim sub)
Anything is better than back firing speakers from a tv
Whats your price range?
have an amp, etc ?
How much is that?
more than 75$ but let me see if you can just buy a soundbar
Looks like you can buy vizio soundbars for like 75-110$. But no one here is going to recommend them probably. I just know I've enjoyed mine
preferably under 600$ but I can go higher if need be. Currently I don't have an amp, I'm new to the high end audio space so I'm open to any and all recommendations 🙂
