That's fair
They do nice products but the software and the gatekeeping stuff
but the product is still a good product unfortunately
I personally don't really have an issue with Apple, but I understand why people do
yea the stem style tws aren't exactly common among other companies that make good stuff
I also hate that about 90% of people i know, especially at my school use iphones and don't even consider Android as an option. Their mentality is "what iphone am i getting" and not "what phone am i getting"
Yea, I'd love it if sony or Samsung would do ones with stems
yea...
Also this is true, https://www.barrons.com/articles/apple-stock-teens-iphone-e5e58147
90% is actually really close to the statistic
The features you're losing out on are battery indicator and accessing the settings for turning on anc or spatial audio. But you can set those in a friend's iPhone or a Walmart display iPad once and leave them as they are forever.
Even without those two things they're still the best tws I've tried.
buying the apple dongle,
is like buying an rx480 because everyone said it was good
it's no longer 2016. it doesn't have to be the apple dongle
at least it's still priced like the other dongles
but I saw someone buy 4 extra cables and adapters just to accomodate the usbc of an apple dongle
(they needed a really long cable that would've been a 1 component solution for usbA)
@lean grove @haughty girder @warm scarab
I forgot i have an ipad 7
Can i control the airpods with that?
yes
audeze maxwell
Audeze Maxwell
lmao all apple devices can
that's literally perfect
set the airpods up, update, etc.
then just leave it and connect to phone
I have an iPad from 2016 that can't.
Really not an audio guy please help.
I have a headset (audio+mic) with a 3.5mm jack that I'm trying to connect to a pc. The PC has the 3 motherboard Jack's and the front io has 2 with headphone silkscreened on one port and microphone on the other. Where should I plug the headset into?
Am I correct in thinking I'll need a splitter and then I can plug into both ports?
weird, 2016 should be able to
I can test later today, though I only have an iPad air 1, 3 and pro 5
I do have an iPhone SE 2016 that I can try though
audeze maxwell alternative?
what did you like and dislike about it?
i can’t pronouce the brand
can you pronounce ozzy
good enough
audeze is au-dih-zee or au-deh-zee
I'm considering a SBX AE-5 card. OR the G6, which is external. Integrated realtek audio is sh*.
sai's graph is likely only possible with very precise placement that you won't get on an actual head or a specific HRTF
There's zero reason to get an internal sound card for consumer audio.
What about it
USB has enough bandwidth to handle the audio channels
You don't need to have an audio product locked into your pcie slot
If anything it's a useless expense that does more harm than good.
what? the sound processor is useless?
The fact that it's pcie is useless
You don't need an internal sound card in 2024
You probably haven't needed one since like 2010
The virtual 5.1 is also arguably useless.
does it properly run planors??
No but it has serious audio performance
G6 is cheaper than AE-7
an 8 dollar apple dongle is has "serious audio performance"
your point?
I'd love to try their feature shenanigans
but it's a lot of money for something like that too
can anyone tell me any good headphones which have a cloth type of material and separate right and left audio channels. i used my friend corsair hs35 stereo and im looking for something like that in a similar price range
don't basically all headphones have separate right and left audio channels?
i might have used wrong terms
what i meant was headphones in which u can hear sound coming from different directions
like if ur playing a game and someone is walking to your right, you hear sound from your right ear instead of both ears
🤔
you might be referring to hard panned stereo audio
or the lack of virtual 7.1 surround sound or similar
many games are going to force audio to be in both sides of the headphones unequally because it's supposed to help with the illusion of a sound actually being on our right side
because irl a sound to my right will also go behind my head and into my left ear too (muffled because my skull is like talking through a wall)and taking just a little extra time to get there
but if a game does this and then your headphones are usb and have a part that decides "lets add even more of this!", that's bad
sometimes
minecraft is a good example of a game that has hard panned stereo audio by default
sometimes switching a game's audio mode to "speakers: 2.0/stereo" will make it do the same thing
as for the hardware side of things, you only need to make sure your headphones connect to your pc using 3.5mm. not USB
i understood absolutely nothing
uh
well it at least gets other audio people here on the same page with what I'm thinking
it is hard to describe solutions because it's hard for me to understand what exactly your sound sounds like
there are two things you could be talking about
stereo means two speakers or two sides of a headphone yes? left side and right side
panning means that if you have a sound that goes in both sides, how much it's going into each side
100% panned to the left means the volume of that sound is full volume on the left side but silent on the right side
50% panned / centered means both sides are the same volume with the same sound. the sound doesn't appear to have a direction or sound louder on either side
75% panned to the left means that both the left and right side are playing the same sound, but it is louder on the left than it is on the right
therefore your problem may be, with a sound in a game that is completely on the left side of your ear (100% panned left)
- the sound you're getting right now is like 55% panned, so the left side is barely louder than the right side, and you don't like this
or 2. the sound you're getting right now is like 75% panned, so the left side is definitely louder than the right side, but the right side still has volume. you don't like this. you'd rather have the sound appear 100% in your left ear and completely missing in the right ear.
in real life without headphones or speakers, we hear a sound directly left of us as if it were 75% panned to the left
so you may say you want option 1 because you want it to sound more like real life
but we have no way of knowing how panned your audio currently is
it could already be like real life and you just want the sounds to be super panned to the left completely (100%) with zero sound in the right when something is to your left
||(this is an innaccurate description for how games and real life work in terms of sound. it's not just panning. but for simplicity we're saying it's panning because that's all you need to understand)||
budget?
Under 100 ig
Corsair hs35 stereo is what i want but its not available everywhere in my area
akg k361
Ok lemme see
a lot better than the hs35
It has a leatherette finish tho
I have not had good experience with those
It starts to rip
its not like you have a lot of options at 100 usd man
take it leave it
go get in ears if you want
With inflation what was 100 dollar in 2019 is now 120 dollars. Still can't get anything good for that tho.
there is also the cloud 2 if you want
sennheiser game one
pc37x
not sure which is what price but all should be around 100$
If it makes you feel better, the perception of money hasn't increased with the increase in cost of products. So you can give someone $50 and it would have the same emotional value as a $100 gift.
has anyone had an issue where they hear white noise in their headphones?
have you tried turning off the 10h of white noise video on youtube?
10 hours of white noise occasionally interrupted by sharur sipping coke zero
Hey, i've been having an extremely annoying problem, I've bought a new microphone from amazon its the NJSJ budget one. And ever since i started using it i can hear myself, i've done everything, even fully wiping my pc. If anyone knows a fix, please tell me it.
Do I buy this? Is there a cable that I can buy separately that comes with a mic? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09PH1N67T?
I’d like a mic
I wouldn't recommend a cable with an attached mic with those
It feels bad to do that lmao
Oh
A cheap-ish XLR setup would be fine
Thing is I plan to take these outside and use them on my phone too
Do not take open back headphones outside please
They're open back
Everyone around you will hear what you're listening to
I always wear a hoodie over my headphones no sound will leak
That will ruin the sound quality
Huh?
Covering the backs of an open back headphone crushes the quality
Oh
You'd be better off getting a nice pair of IEMs and a cable with a mic for those
also, have fun training your neck while going outside with that headphone
Are iems good for gaming?
Imagine going on a run and wearing audezes
They can be 🤷
Need one with good imaging in its soundstage
Don't skip neck day smh my head
I do genuinely wonder if my neck's gotten stronger holding up my lcd2s all day
Sound stage?
The area that your brain creates where the sound sounds like it's coming from
Sound doesn't have to sound like its coming directly from the speakers themselves
Which iems would have that
I can’t find the twos only the threes
truthear nova
they are really good headphones but you can't really wear them outside without destroying their sound quality and potentially the headphones themselves
not to mention those wouldn't work well off of a phone
don't get the threes
the three "dusk" is right around the corner (people speculate)
its a better tuned version for the same price
also the moondrop blessing series are quite big and might not fit in your ears
as is pretty much every multi driver iem
So I shouldn’t buy any iems right now?
truthear nova is available and is very good
it's on the large side as are the majority of good iems
sharur likes it which means it has incredibly small sound stage
the only things that determine soundstage in iems are tonal balance and upper treble response
it is an iem
there are no magic tricks here
okay cope harder with your project reds
Is it good for gaming or do I buy the iems that are speculated if they are good https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09PH1N67T
youre the one that constantly buys new shit and tries to convince yourself that youre hearing things
its not ideal for gaming, the directionality of the sound is a bit weird
you don't hear sounds come from in front of you that much
these edition xs will have a more fun sound presentation but i personally find it easier to know where people are in games when im using iems
get the hifiman deva pro wired for 160 dollars and a 50 dollar moondrop dawn dac/amp
but don't use it in public
hifiman headphones shouldn't leave your desk honestly
there is a version that is wireless but it has less bass
and its bluetooth which has too much delay for gaming
Ye
Do I buy this too?
Hifiman cables are the worst cables I've had the displeasure of using
the hifiman he1000v2 stealth I am using came with a 3 meter long cable which I do occasionally use when laying in bed
Once again
Do not use open backed headphones in public
And is there anything better that costs a bit more?I have more money than I can use rn
Get a nice pair of headphones for use at home, and a nice set of IEMs when you go out and about
Ik I’m getting iems for outside and a nice pair of headphones for home
you can get the hifiman sundara for 350 dollars, its way more detailed but I cannot wholeheartedly recommend them.
Why is that
Bass light, clamp is a bit much at first, pads squish in damn fast, requires an amp to get the most out of them
I heard people say it gets worse with an amp
and they showed measurements to prove their point
Sundara... detail?
its more detailed than the deva pro
the deva pro is a bit more detailed than a dynamic around the same price but not much
Mine sounded better with power 🤷
uh my budget from the future iems/headphones/amp/and mic if the headphones don’t come with them is 700 usd
do you have any audio stores near you where you can try out stuff
The mic can be a 10 dollar one if need be idc
Would a microcenter suffice?
I doubt they have anything from hifiman since its more of an audiophile brand
and not a mainstream consumer brand
I also can’t hear in one ear so tech that takes advantage of both ears won’t do anything
if only the edition xs came with the sundara headband instead
i know you can change the band but that’s a pita
you simply don't lean back far enough in your chair while gaming
^
I kinda wanna try out a Focal set
Think someone would trade a higher end pair for my LCD-2
set as in speakers?
their top end closed back: "focal stellia" is less detailed than the hd660s2
still fun to try out more headphones
Kinda just wanna try something less boring lol
So what do I get then with a budget of 300 usd for a amp if needed and headphones
get the moondrop dawn or 50 euros, you don't need something more expensive
why do you want to spend so much
and if you are, make sure you can tell the difference first
there is such a thing as a difference that doesn't make a difference
300 also includes the headphones. And this is max ofc I don’t want to spend that much.
okay then get the hifiman deva pro wired for 160 and the moondrop dawn for 50
And is there something better than the deva pro that on sale but costs a bit more?
If not I’ll get this
an alternative to the hifiman deva pro wired would be the sennheiser hd560s
but I can't say they are better
there is the audeze maxwell
if you want something bluetooth/2.4hHz and a mic
its also a closed back
has like 80h of battery life too (realistically like 50)
the microphone works, its not anything better than a normal laptop mic, if not a little bit worse
Is the audio on par with the deva pro’s on wired?
I have not heard it myself so I cannot comment
it might be more detailed than the deva
but its pure speculation so forget that I even said it
Should I buy this from here or on Amazon, and which amp do I buy https://store.hifiman.com/index.php/deva-pro-wired.html
Boasting HIFIMAN's advanced Stealth Magnet Design, HIFIMAN Deva Pro is one of the best planar magnetic headphones in its price range.
are you in europe
or in the usa
or elsewhere
@fervent tangle
if in europe try to get it from a local seller, honestly shipping to and from china is a bit risky rn with the current world events
USA
Get it from amazon
Yes
And what amp do I get
its shit
dont
Make sure you get the moondrop dawn dongle too, it will make it sound noticeably better than what your laptop/phone headphone jack outputs
you can get an edition xs open box for around 330$
if you are in eu or us
Also so if my headphones are open ear does that mean everyone can hear anything
Yes
yes
Sound leaks both in and out
You can hear people talk like you are not wearing headphones
Damn
But they also hear your music, not as loud as you hear it.
Which ones?
edition xs
Link?
google?
Don’t even know what the whole name is u just said xs
Klaus 160 deva pro and 50 moondrop dawn is better for gaming
why would you get planars for gaming
its not like deva is better
dt880 has better imaging
so does r70x
It has a cohesive stage
with your shitty eq yea probably
Okay stock sound dt880 hearing damage enjoyer
also overdampening doesn't matter for imaging
Everything sounds really diffused
doesn't matter
this is true of most hifimans without eq
because they have a crater at 2khz
eq cant create imaging
Tf is imaging
it can help you perceive it better
it can restore what was always there, until it got hidden by intentionally bad tuning
schizo
directional sound
I assume that’s done by different sounds coming from each side of the headphone?
Imaging is how precise your headphones can pinpoint where the sound is coming from.
makes you able to tell if a guy is in front of you in a game or not
Ah
or in any other direction
Amir has a shitty measurement rig
And fyi my hearing in one ear is shitty I can’t really hear anything from it
Keep that in mind with this directional stuff I think
dt880 has good imaging if you want to game exclusively
so does r70x
neither really need amps
least for gaming
DT880 will toast your hearing if you listen to music
I plan to game and watch YouTube
its fine then
grey you are bipolar
tomorrow you will say something else
you will turn it off a day later
listen to it
say oh shit my eq is bad
defend it for another few days
relapse like 20 times
you speak as if this didn't happen before
My 1200 euro amplifier is the only thing that makes dt880 enjoyable and gives it good bass
It's a mini hd800s
So…
you could have gotten an hd800 for 1200 euros instead
Get the deva pro wired with moondrop dawn and be done with 210 euros
get dt880 250ohm for like 140$
The stock tuning of the dt880 can be very fatiguing
bro has ear damage
Especially if you have hearing damage
"oh wow a guy that can't hear highs, it would be terrible if we recommended him a headphone that emphasizes highs"
The more damaged your hearing is the more your brain struggles with treble
Also the deva has less distortion so it should be easier on the ears
It’s not damaged it’s more like the things that help u hear don’t exist
Your brain already has to compensate for hearing worse by pouring more processing power at interpreting everything you hear. You want to minimize fatigue too.
Try both and return which one you don't like tbh
But do get the moondrop dawn. It will make both sound better regardless of which one you choose to keep.
😭.u think a micro center would have the dt880’s?
Possibly
If they have them I’ll test them there .
Order them from Amazon and return which one you don't like
You don't have to feel bad for returning anything
There’s so many which one are u referring
Also you can take your time at home listening in a quiet room to make a better decision and don't feel rushed.
You can use this for your IEMs too if you get some in the future
SG pilled Klaus saying planars suck? Say it ain't so
U said that the dt880 would be fatiguing right?
I can't listen to it for more than 5 minutes without applying an equalizer to it to tone down the ear piercing higher tones.
He also said his new pair of headphones have the best bass he's ever heard and then returned them an hour later
They did have good bass
Everyone's ears are different
Somehow yours are more different than everyone else's
I have very sensitive ears
High noise
Just order both and send back which one you don't like
This is the other one right? https://www.amazon.com/beyerdynamic-880-Premium-250-Over-Ear-Stereo/dp/B000F2BLTM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?
Proving that not all headphones are created equal, the award-winning Beyerdynamic DT 880 high-end headphones combine the strengths of both open and closed technologies to reproduce the complete sound spectrum in stunning detail. The high frequencies sound crystal clear without ever coming across ...
The 600 one costs the same
Don't bother
It needs a stupid amount of power to run well
Also note that the dt880 does not come with a detachable cable
Detachable cables are amazing. You can replace them if they break. And if your cable gets caught behind something the cable will more likely unplug itself from the headphone instead of yank them off your head onto the floor
The ship by march I won’t be able to use them for the test
Oh no need to test then I need detachable cables
Can you find another seller on Amazon that sells the moondrop dawn?
They all do
Fosi ds1 is the latest hotness
It doesn’t tell me when it just says it’s free
I believe this is relatively common for the k361/371
it is, but only after a couple years of use
How do I go about fixing a ground loop/static sound issue? I have my GoXLR connected via 3.5mm jack line out into my second computers capture card line in. And I have a lot of buzzing
does anyone know what this mic stand is called or know a good one like it?
Plug everything into the same extension cord. Your entire pc setup
that looks like a cheap generic mic stand lol
probably from amazon like the rest of that setup
do you know a good one I can look at?
managed to get pair of SRH840'S for like a 102 pounds
did it break
no ? i mean pounds as in currency
right
but the original srh440 and 840 suffer from the most catastrophic hinge defects out there
it is common for them to break at the hinge
even though the 840 was my first headphone, I don't bring it up because of that
my friend's 440 broke on day 2
Ohh, maybe thats it. Thanks I will try
I swear, every time I decide to rip a new SACD, it feels like i have to figure out how to do it all over again
Hiya not sure if anyone here knows how amps are wired and if this is gonna be an issue, ordered some jbl speakers for my car, I have a sony head unit thats rated 4-8 ohms impedance, the jbl speakers are 3 ohm, now to my knowledge this causes the amp to work harder and can throw it into protect mode/overheat it, but am I likely to run into this issue if its a 4 channel amp and im only driving two of the channels?
I keep hearing conflicting info, some people say its okay and its to "account for factory wiring" or "pull more volume from weaker amps" others say its not
Its wired to the head unit built in amp no external one using factory wiring
My theroy is that because its only driving two channels it might be okay, since the amp will only ever be at 50% load
So the impedance being 3 ohm and driving the amp harder will never put it over the combined wattage for all 4 channels, im just not sure if amps work like that or if wattage is a per channel thing
Maybe this
What in the fuck 2,822,400hz
Okay apparently thats SACD sampling rate, yeah just transcode them down to something sensible
Looking here youre only listening at 44.1khz anyways so having 2822.4khz sampling rate is a waste
foobar will be downsampling that anyways
That would be DSD
Foobar won't as it can run DSD
But most dacs would convert the dsd signal to pcm anyway
Only exception would be akm and burrbrown
holy shit
how is ifi marketing their 5v power supply
it has "noise cancelling"?!?!
This company makes horrendously obviously scam cables (Such as their 800$ HDMI cable that does nothing more than a basic 20$ hdmi would do). However I looks up this particular model and the people in the audiophile community states that somehow this cables gives their music a “warmer” sound or whatever. I am a PC nerd so I have no idea if that’s true or not. Can a cable really improve the sound of your music significantly enough that you can hear it?
You won't be able to get any of the benefits without sinking some serious money into cable lifters anyway
Hahaha I got that one, just so we are on the same page. It doesn’t do jack shit right?
Because when I saw it, I said of course it doesn’t do anything, but when I looked it up there was multiple forum threads saying how it “changed” their music to make it sound more “warm and “colorful”
I mean I wouldn't buy those ones in the picture
looks like something I could do myself
there are some very specific situations where nicer cables can make a real difference compared to bad cables.
but personally i think the biggest difference comes from the perception of the person rather than any real impacts from the way the cable changes the electrical behavior of things
I wasn’t planning on purchasing any cables or anything like that. I just randomly when down a rabbit hole of “audiophile grade” cables
As someone who isn’t that into audio, just a curious question in case my first assumption were wrong
but I don't think the fancy cable I bought for my headphones makes them sound any different
Are there any examples of that?
just looks like generic coax even tho coax cable is really overkill as audio cable
tho yeah you can just diy coax into audio cable if you got it. and used coax is cheap as hell
https://youtu.be/QWbyF1fMGwY
this is the most extreme difference i've seen. its a very unique situation of having a headphone that is really low impedance, low enough that the usually negligable impedance of a cable is now significant.
There are a lot of opinions about headphone cables. Some people swear by them and others think it's just snake oil. In this video, Resolve dives into this controversy and examines if headphone cables can make a tangible difference and whether or not they're a good way to 'level up' your headphone setup.
Skedra's cables: https://vikingweavecable...
What's the difference between an $8 and $50 XLR cable? Do $50 mic cables make your recording sound better? Why pay so much for a cable? In this video, I address those questions and demonstrate the difference in shielding and test if there is any difference in tone based on the XLR cable you're using.
HQ Audio Of Review: https://podcastage.com/...
this is another example of how cables can make a difference but for shielding
Ah, yea I saw a proper experiment where they did found that those wire world cable did make a difference, but no where near enough that you would hear it.
Difference was found but nothing that you can physically hear
only perk coax has is shielded and low data loss as it's a really pure cable but 200 for coax with banana plugs is a lot
Thanks guy, was just a random quest I when on. Thanks for the explanation.
it depends on who "you" are. some people are very good listeners. some people are so good at listening they hear things that aren't even there 🙂
Passion For Sound reviewing 1000 euro cables and describing the difference in sound

chad sharur basically retiring his youtube channel because hes already been at endgame audio for a while
could anyone tel me some headpones
that i can use on my phone
on trips
preferably noise cancelation and under 30$
i live in croatia
What is a good dac for planars
of course a proper cable is going to be better than a shit cable, but beyond that, there's nothing
yo
whats the est boom arm to get for a blue yeti
and like setup tutorial too
bc i never used a boom arm
well you mount your arm to your table, mount your mic on the boom arm, bada bing bada boom
so do i not have to screw anything in place?
would need to screw in the mic to the boom arm cause it uses a thread system
the boom arm itself has an option to use a desk clamp for mounting to the desk
thread system?
salso what boom arms would you recommended
UPDATE: Apparently the end of the AVerMedia Atm being loose is a flaw, theyre sending a replacement. I will update once i have it!
🎶 Music by Backing Track: https://backingtrack.gg/ FREE downloads on Discord: https://discord.gg/eposvox 🎸
It's time we reviewed some more microphone arms - and the 2022 models have some pretty innovative features o...
how much are you willing to spend is the question?
Idk a good price
Bu rn I have around 300 dollars
I could ask my parents to buy it for me also
yea thats way too much to spend on a boom arm
rode psa1+ at 100 should last you a lifetime
How long. Is it
search it up
i need a good recomendation for over ear blue tooth head phones decent price
that shpuld be good actualy
@misty bloom ya that shoild be good for starting look up if it includes the mic amazon is a pos so id check it
You get what you paid for at that price. It works, but the build quality is questionable at best, the spring uses for tension will be creaky, it might not support heavier mics.
Also might not reject desk vibrations at all.
Which is one of the main benefits you should get with a mic arm
It specifically said the mic is not included.
@nova wagon o im on a shitty s8 so amazon dont load gpod
my bad then
@misty bloom coffee cup an a snow ball
?
what i use
w9hat are you asking
so it will fall if a bump my desk or smth?
He uses a blue snowball and for some reason a coffee cup to hold it standing
thats fair lol
Either that with heavy mics or your mic will still pick up the desk bump sound as if it's still on the desk
so you think i shouldnt buy it?
it should at least be a little isolated with that
I see a lot of people doing the same thing with the razer seiren mini
also you'd be able to have it closer to your mouth for higher noise rejection
so I'd say go for it
Wdym by this
Also main thing I’m tryna do is find the length
isolation meaning reducing the desk sounds
I just went for the big arm personally
whatever length you don't use will instead go vertically
for my at2020
also random advice: don't spray mic arms with wd40
it has some kind of precise friction mechanism inside the arm that lets it keep it's position
and it's held there with a spring pushing it with ~120lbs of force
thing exploded and embedded one of the rods into my wall when I tried to fix it
almost crossbow stuff
I just want to clip it behind my monitor
Like where should I put it
wouldn't the other monitor be in the way then?
and there's no gap between the tables so it'd need to go in the back
and if the back is against the wall...
I just don't see how that could work
not really, unless you plan to have the mic extended all the time
when retracted, the arm will fold into a position that goes beyond the desk
which might be fine if you have the mic arm angled 90 degrees / completely sideways from the wall when retracted
but then you have to extend the arm and rotate it so it goes in front of your screen
if the height of the extended arm isn't enough to clear the monitor as it's rotated, you'd need to retract the arm partially, and it'll most likely have part of it going beyond the wall
which means you won't be able to get the arm to go over your monitor
I plan to golf it to where that keyboard is
You see that old keyboard
ye
that's probably too short yeah
hm
now that I think of it, it might be possible to just have the mic go way up instead of retracting/folding the arm backwards
Cost?
Nvm I’ll just buy that one I should you
nvm it looked very short
Anyone know what sound card i should consider for my pc for flac audio playback, currently rocking the ALC897, or is it too small of an upgrade to even consider
you shouldn't get a sound card
Oh rlly? Why?
If it helps im a very light audiophile and a music producer, need to analyze diff genres
the concept itself isn't outdated but sound card themselves are
all the currently good audio equipment is external
also you really don't need a good soundcard for flac playback
you should be investing in good headphones and an amp/dac based on the headphone
Ah... So get a dac?
Ah I see, tysm!
np
yeah
Can anyone tell this jack’s/cable’s name?
It came with my headset but it’s malfunctioning after two years of use. I need to get a replacement.
3.5mm
Okay, thank you. Here’s the other end of the cable. What is this called?
Could be a balanced jack
It's a Sennheiser headset?
Yes, it is.
Genuine Sennheiser Replacement UNP CC Console Cable
Look for that on amazon
I think I got that exact one for my pc37x
Thank you.
Does anybody here by chance know how to repair vacuum tube radios, i've got a little project im trying to get running
You might have better luck asking in a server called sonic visions. They have a few people in there which mod and restore stuff like this.
thanks
Anyone know of 2 budget friendly ish rear speakers I can use for my bedroom
Probably cant even get speakers for it as bed and couch are against the wall
I just got these babies and for $20 they’re phenomenal!
thats so cursed
I know absolutely nothing able old vacuum tube radios but I love old hardware like that lol
they lack sub bass
heavily
footsteps are muted
they're small drivers. thats expected
compared to monitor speakers yes, they are phenomenal
Luckily I won’t be playing any games on them. This is more for casual video watching or music
for what they are and what they cost you'll have a hard time finding anything better
I mean for $20 they’re amazing than even my phone
i bought some hd 681’s and after testing them, i just packed my pebble v2’s into the box and never touched them since
and i didn’t like headphones
well, not like i didn’t like but prefered speakers
i sweat alot
easier to do bass when you dont have to pressuraze in an entire room.
i had the hd681s for a while but they broke pretty quickly
the little nubble connector thing isnt that strong
be careful with it
yeah, the cable is very fragile
My case I have earbuds and sometimes it irritates my ears with something sitting in them. So I wanted a good cheap pair of speakers and they’re good for that
i dropped my hd681 off the table and the headphones were hanging on the cable (my luck)
i doubt that cable would survive another fall
i rarely break cables
well its just that this area right here is a 90 degree joint
its gonna cause undue stress right at where they're connected
and even if you're super careful with it, every time you move it its gonna wear down a little bit
i may buy koss porta pro wireless
any alternatives? with similiar sound profile.
prefer flat
can have cable
ikr, i route the cable a way that it puts the least amount of stress
at worst they break, they were 20 bucks
we've had this conversation before i think
correct.
but, i didn’t find any
i mean not literally
i just want the neutralest sound curve possible without costing two hundreds
ofcourse there is are none because even unit to unit varies
even left and right cups may vary quite decently
and it’s also not easy
hifiman he400se with parametric eq if your budget is $100
it probably wont get loud without an amp though
ideally without EQ tuning required, but i’ll check
if you dont want to use eq then headphone options are extremely limited in general
98% of headphones are poopy
well, it’s hard to find headphones at budget that don’t have some sort of treble dips/ are bright
or have messed up mids or bass
hifiman he400se has inverted polarity and a 2khz dip but both of those can be fixed with equalizerAPO
and then you can boost the bass to harman if you want to
you should really just lower your expectations, kvetinky. you are not going to find the best or more neutralist. ive explained to you why you won't find that last time we talked
you should settle for "good for the money"
which the porta pros are
oh is their budget like $50?
yup
you gotta save up to a hundred man
so far its "without costing two hundreds"
but, can do more now prolly
everything at the $50 and below price point is manufactured waste
koss
some of it is tolerable but there's nothing actually good
iems
hd681’s which i’ve purchased new for 20 bucks aren’t ewaste
they’re just bright
alot
harsh
maybe i should just do EQ
which one do you recommend
equalizerAPO if you're on windows
though, i wanted to also replace them because my ears get pretty sweaty in them
altough they’re semi open back, my ears don’t breathe in them much
has a lot of pre done custom eq's for every headset done by people like crinicle etc
to meet harman specs
stuff like that
if i use the headphones for more than 2 hours sometimes even starts to hurt, prolly just my ears being sensitive
could be the pressure etc
could be anything, or even how loud yhou are listening to them
yes, they have higher clamping force
the earcups aren’t good
i keep my volume in the lower range
well the akg its cloned off of isn't anything to write home about
eeq
is this good for da headphones?
yeah
alright

What’s a good cheap mixer that I can buy so I can combine two audio sources together?
Yes
You could get something really nice for 200 ish

umc202hd vs scarlet solo 3rd gen? do the focusrite generations mean much if anything at all?
got 250ohm headphones and i wanna be able to work with an XLR mic along with it, focusrite are significantly more expensive when it comes to 2nd hand things,
i've heard that the older beringer audio interfaces aren't supported anymore like the um22 for example, i just kinda want a cheap box that works with an xlr mic and can comfortably drive 250 ohm headphones
umc easily
Okay but why, i dont understand, explain like i'm a baby orsomething
is it cause it has more inputs, is it cause its cheaper, i dont understand why its easily the umc over the solo
(i also dont know if the focusrite audio interfaces generations do anything in specifics)
cause i've seen some cheap ass 1st gens
scarletts are just streamerslop
mid preamps
terrible drivers
bad headphone outputs
i only know about them cause i had them in school
okay so they have a mid preamp, how well do the umc202hd do
how is that possible though, it's just a 1/4 inch jack am i wrong??
the socket is the same
the headphone amps are bad
in comparison to the umc?
I'd be lying if I said I know how good the umc headphone output is but, I know that the scarlett one is bad
i've seen that the umc drivers are worse than focusrite ones cause you have to manually download them or some shit whereas focusrite does it for you? (it was a skim read)
this is false
scarlett drivers very often break
probably one of the most fragile audio drivers on a product sold this massively
really? god damn
why do you exactly need this btw
like why multiple xlr inputs
umc22 is really cheap and works pretty well
id honestly buy that unless you want to do pro stuff
also side question, if i was talking on discord would i be able to plug in an instrument and would people on the call be able to hear it?
i'm a music student and occasionally i'd need it for my partner's recordings
mic + instrument or multiple mics really
That's such an interesting looking player
plus if i could play bass directly through a discord call that would be kinda fun (not essential but sounds fun)
i currently only use my usb speakers to control volume and the midi mixer program when speciifc programs or when i've got headphones on, it would also be nice to somehow (VERY big stretch) connect my usb speakers to the audio interface just for the convenience but i dunno if thats even possible
would it not work the same as the 202hd? i'd rather not wanna lose quality,
i'm getting it from CeX so 2nd hand and like £45 for a 202hd over retail price (i'll also trade in shit so its even cheaper)
- i'd really prefer using an XLR over my nearly 7 year old blue yeti
its like
to the end user
such a marginal difference
unless you are planning on powering super insensitive mics
or you are a good professional
its really nothing
naw, we've got an sm58 atm BUT one day i'd like to get an sm7b
it sounds good though
it doesn't really sound any better than 20$ mics with eq
i like the sound of the sm58 yeah
okay then one day when i get the u87 lmfao
but i'm not that rich
is that the tube one or the currently available one
u87
is that the vintage tube mic
or the currently available general studio mic
u47 or whatever was the other one
the avaliable one
i think you're thinking of the u47
yes
£3000 yeah
that mic is like actually bad
i dont have that atm lmfao
I wasn't saying spend more than sm7b because its bad
I am literally saying 20$ mics with eq are equivalent to sm7b
fair fair but like
minus you don't need to spend money on a cloudlifter
all we've got atm is an sm58 (without a fucking clip even)
that isn't a bad mic man
like
I wouldn't call sm7b an upgrade
In this video we will find out if you can eq a Behringer XM8500 to sound like a Sure SM7B.

here
it'll just dangle like a NSFW thing
tell me if you can tell the two apart
thanks mod bot warship twat
can't rn lmfao i'm in a lesson lol
well watch it some other time ig
i just wanted to know why the UMC202hd was a lot better than focusrite shit cause i'm just not knowledgeable about that stuff
remind me in like 3 hours i'l let you know
you remind me lol
but i dont know exactly why, i love the fact scarlett is usb c but that's kinda it
bet
also can you even EQ a mic through an audio interface and have it work over something, like say discord
not through an interface but through 3rd party software
and it works practically seamless
maybe i might just get the xm8500, leave the sm58 for my partner so if i get the 202hd i can have 2 microphones n shit
that would work imo
no by passthrough i mean unofficially after the audio interface
i fucking hate that
wait what why
i like the stuff the way it is xd i dont want shit to have natural reverb
you want to eq your mic for every app differently?
yeah
sorry smooth ass brain me
you can add effects too i mean
as long as they are .vst stuff
reafir plugins also work
do yo know if you can plug in an instrument and connect it over discord so it sounds right in the peoples headphones in the calls or if thats not possible
it may be
i'll take it you dont got an instrument
how can you connect your phone?? o-o
its just an audio socket
it would just mainly be very funny in my eyes to start doing a walking bassline while we're tryna be quiet in say lethal company
you plug the phone headphone jack into the instrument in
ah, i dont got a headphone jack, fucking iphone 11 shite (nor do i have an adapter)
i just never really need it for my phone tho
i've got airpods that i occasionally toss in when i'm out and about by myself but other than that i don't need headphones for my phone or a need for a headphone jack for my phone
did you manage to see if instrument stuff works though?
yea i dont think the instrument out goes into the mic channel
or I couldn't get it to work
probably the latter
I don't have an instrument so I don't really fuck with this
yea idk
very fair
i just thought it would be very funny
you can use the xlr inputs of the 202hd
and plug in your guitar into one of those
and mic into other
and I think they should mix
but 90% chance you can use instrument in honestly
like what is the point of the input if your computer can't use it
it would also be nice to have 2 headphone out jacks as my partner also has 1/4 inch headphones and when we're working on music together it would be nice to hear it in our ears compared to okayish £30 gaming speakers
because i thought the instrument in would be a different thing not able to be picked up by say, discord
again it was a very big stretch mainly for humor
💀
it would be dumb if you could use the instrument in for listening to it on the headphone jack but not record on the pc
yeah
I don't know how to solve your double headphone jack problem though
not like without spending a lot of money
which isn't very ideal I imagine
cause my fiancés headphones are like 32 ohm and mine are 250, which means i need it turned up a lot and their dont
and amp probably wouldn't be strong enough to power both headphones
plus it would half the volume
yeah
also i dont even know if beringer audio interfaces even have a 2nd headphone output lmfao
id imagine not
also the video, just skimmed it without audio, the dude doesn't even show how he did it or what he used xd
It probably can if it's high impedance. The thing that cooks amps is high current and if they're high impedance headphones then they're pretty much drawing no current.
is that even possible from a usb interface?
mixing desk sure cause its coming from the mains
That's one of the reasons why the 600 ohm Beyers are used in pro settings. You can daisy chain a bunch of them in parallel and the amp won't care.
USB amps typically top out at about 250 mW into 32 ohms.
But let's say 100 mW to be conservative. According to ohms law that's a top output of 56 mA.
At loud listening volumes, 32 ohm Beyers will draw about 30 mA of current. The 250 ohm Beyers will draw 10 mA of current.
So it's possible to power both headphones from the power you get from a USB port
okay so i respect how in depth you went about this
But the problem is that the volume you get for the 32 ohm headphones is gonna be different than the volume you get at the 250 ohm headphones.
but in all honestly, in one ear, into the empty cavity of my skull and out the other
yeah that i knew
cause it takes more to drive 250 than 32
More voltage yes
yeah
There are some amps and splitters out there which have individually controllable headphone outputs
okay different questions now lol, where can i get like a box of just knobs and faders
A mixer?
i'm using an alesis v61 for the midi controller app on my computer to alter tabs volumes
yeah but llike NOT a mixer
like this but not that many buttons and not £50
Idk. I only know hifi. So. No idea. I see tons of them on Amazon and Ali express all the time but they're probably not "good"
Probably usable though
like i've got this big ass keyboard
JSUT so i can alter the volume of things open with windows mixer
and i'd like some more knbos
and more faders
better pic would've come but i'm not home atm
i just want like an entire row of JUST faders i can plug in but i wouldn't know where to get one, and why are they so expensive
i remember seeing a home made DIY fader box with only 3 of them for like £100
enlighten me on this if you mind
oh thats kinda cool, i didn't know they did that also, i thought you were talking about the knobs / faders though
that is still really cool
This thing has 4 headphone amps in one, or one headphone amp and some resistors in front of each headphone output.
And it's like. $35
i assume i just plug it into the audio interface?
So it's either extremely cheap or it's poorly designed and extremely cheap.
why is this one of the pictures
why is the amp just floating near dudes playing ps2
Because dudes playing PS2 are too expensive to rent so they just threw it on top of a stock photo
But if I had to guess it would connect via 1/4inch trs
Same way headphones connect but reverse.
ahh
Can just get an aux cord with an adapter and that will work
but it looks like it uses ac input
i mean being able to have 2 1/4 jacks on a 202hd would be really nice for my partner and i to both listen stereo and at better quality than my speakers while we're working on things
Yeah. It does.
it says 12v on the very left
ah
yeah thats what i dont like ( i dont have many sockets )
You can use a car battery
Rip
would i be able to plug headphones into one of the left / right speaker ports lol
or would that only do left / right audio only
Yes
mkay
well thanks to you and the dude with the joker picture i think i know what i've gotta get, and a new microphone along with it lol
cause i dunno how an sm58 gets rusty but it do
Was it suspiciously cheap?
It was free, from their uncle
Oh that's normal. My uncle gives me rusty military equipment from the 80s.
If it's from an uncle and not rusty that's when you start asking questions
Looking to get one of these... first "high" quality headset i buy so im in the blind but im going for DT990 i know for sure. but im just not sure what model to get..
https://www.beyerdynamic.de/dt-990-black-special-edition-250-ohm.html
https://www.beyerdynamic.de/dt-990-pro-black.html
trying to find the difference just seams to be the head band pressure? and the cable
Going to run it of a Fosi audio P2..
also current headset is a SXFI Theater... worst purchase ive done🥲
I don't recommend the dt990
I'd recommend the dt880 over them
why's that
dt990s are quite sibilant
dt990 have distorted bass and treble that will cause pain
Bass is weird
only on the dt990s? i've got the 990 pros and the bass sounds fine
it's not well defined and the bass bleeds into the mids and not in a satisfying way
770 and 990 both have this issue
if you're not sensitive to sibilance (not everyone is) they're okay, but 880 is far better overall
"sibilant"? well ive only ever heard AKG 612 pros and they seem abit too i would call it unpersonal? and looking at reviews dt990 seemed like what i wanted.. so might look into the 880 but they only have the Black edition (in full black) which is what i want colour whise
also compared them on Rtings? and bass got a better score there.. but as i said im in the blind so idk if thats good or bad
rtings scores are meaningless
they measure stuff with objective data
then use almost arbitrary methods to evaluate that data
which makes the final scores a literal meme
Alrighty it was nice for choosing what monitor i was gonna go with tho! :d but iguess they have bad and good sections?
yea
the raw data is good if you want to compare audio stuff
but the scores are just bad
i see sadly i cant find anything really on my current headphones of solid data to compare with 🥲
612 is your bright-neutral headphone
that's kinda the entire thing about them
they don't sound like anything
when I first moved in to my current place, I didn't realize that I'd be able to inherit some old second hand audio stuff for use with my tv, so I ended up with an amp that's too tall for any of the spaces on my tv stand. For reference, it's the Adam from The Brick. it was cheap, and it sort of worked. Unfortunately, the amp can't fit in that small shelving area, and I'm weary of wall mounting. I'd also like to mention my neighbours are renters and they don't respect the fact that they share a wall with me, so they (especially their kids) love treating the house like an indoor playground. Does anyone have any solutions so I can place the amp on the tv stand somewhere?
I've thought of
a.) table top stand (tv is 65" tall, amp is at least 15cm tall)
b.) floor length tv stand but, the base below it needs to be under 2 cm thick in order to slip in underneath the existing tv stand (which doesn't seem like it's possible)
c.) (really ugly) but get risers to sit underneath the existing manufacturer supplied TV legs
d.) look for a new amp, which is not a bad idea...just expensive
I ordered these. Any experiences? My Audeze Maxwell broke after hitting its membrane too hard. Since it’s user error - I was denied warranty. I tried a ton of $200 headphones in the past week for gaming. Razer Kraken, Blackshark, Nova Pro, Stealth Pro and A50s. Nothing came even slightly close to audiophile quality. Now I’m trying my luck with these - anyone has tried these out? I know I can go all out and just get high impedance wired headphones. But I prefer wireless headsets over those just for ease
Could just get a wireless receiver of some kind and clip that to the headphone
Those work too. But then comes budget too where high ohm open backs cost a fortune. At that price point, I’d rather just play games with my AV receiver and 7.1.4 home theater
There aren't any wireless receivers that I know of that can do low latency. Idk which ones support aptx ll
Without aptx ll you're gonna be having something like 70-150 mS of delay
(as a side note, ohms don't mean much in terms of sound quality. Planars are low ohm things and yet some sound amazing)
Sadge
There's a market there for some chifi brand to capitalise
There is.
