hmm, Black Friday hasn't happened yet, so I guess yeah keep in mind the Sennheiser PC37X or PC38X. Both are around the same performance.

Ok audio geeks and enthusiasts, i need some advice on Surround sound Applications for gaming. i own currently a pair of razer nari ultimates and feel like since the latest update the sound is not much better then before the update (at least the software now works better then before). But i have seen like astro headsets and other have the ability to use Dolby Atmos/Headphones and since there are so many different software that do surround i wanted to know which is best*.

#

To simply put it, i use right now THX from razer and have been for the past few years. I also have tried Steelseries cut of the surround software but i felt like it didn't even work, in the far past i tried dolby and dts but since i was only on trial i never did switch. Also there isn't a video i found that would explain the differences or show examples...

#

in the far future i'm planning of course to buy a better headset/headphones. maybe the maxwell audez or how they are called

lean grove
#

Personally though I just leave it all off.

Howdy! I'm looking at getting a new pair of headphones and am having a hard time finding what seems like a good pair. I'd like to stay around/under $600 and get something that will last me a long time. I currently have a 7-year old pair of Razer Kraken 7.1 v2's that sound fine. I had a pair of Sennheiser HD660s' for a couple weeks, during which they sounded phenomenal, but I unfortunately need a pair of closed-backs. I have a Motu M2 with a 1/4" TRS output which would be nice to use. I would mostly be using them for listening to music (usually rock, Springsteen in particular) and playing games from time to time. I haven't had the chance to try out many other pairs of headphones, let alone higher-end ones, to figure out what type of sound signature I like. I also wear glasses so ideally they'd have to be comfortable with those. I'm still fairly new to the higher-end audio scene so any help/advice would be greatly appreciated :)

lean grove

Otherwise if you want to spend more Dan Clark has some of the better options for closed backs.

Best gaming headphones I have used so far are k702s. Really good soundstage so great for FPS. My HD599s are more comfortable but definitely not as good for positional audio.
For music the k702s are not the most exciting and the bump the in high frequencies make them sound sterile. For UK the k702s also come down to £90 occasionally.

I have arrive

d

#

the conch has spoken

#

this makes server 3 out of 65 where mackie headphones were ever mentioned before I got there

#

and yes to state my bias:

#

I like to produce/mix electronic music and have little fear of eqing headphones. I started collecting and trying lots of $30-200 headphones back when I got their $70 mc-150 headphones as a cheaper reference which knocked my socks off compared to the several headphones I've used in that pricerange

#

of their 5 headphones I thought 3 of them were generally competitive, the mc150, 250, and 450

#

they are some of the very few headphones that can have a v-moda boompro mic used on them, making them into a headset of sorts for $20 more

#

and then their prices all dropped 30-44% permanantly

#

since I have a disproportional amount of headphones from that brand compared to other brands and they seem to fill some popular niches, I will likely be mentioning them a lot

elder thistle
# unique wind probably 560s because it's more suitable to be eqd to harman bass

the hd560s had a wider soundstage for me and more bass with stock tuning, yes. I found it a little strange in the mids and highs. but overall it was surprisingly balanced sounding. pretty good detail, "enough" instrument separation to sound pretty good in just about any music genre. bass wasn't that controlled, lost definition in metal music

#

the hd600 however is the headphone I would pick basically every time, and yes I'd say it's fair that it's worth double. on my ears it was even more neutral minus the bass, but the bass now had that control the hd560s lacked, even when eq'd up on the hd600. I'm with nils that the mids and highs are really detailed. instrument separation proportionally better perhaps. heard directional cues better on most games too

#

only thing is that hd600 + bass eq will cost you a good bit of max volume

elder thistle
unique wind
#

the open back version is good for eq though

elder thistle
#

the 4k dip is a little ominous but with under 10db of eq headroom it looks pretty easy to me

#

don't necessarily have to take 4k up all the way to neutral either

#

I've got eq's like this on even some $50 headphones

unique wind
#

if you want a closed back planar then i recommend that you start with a better headphone like the drop aeon closed x

#

much better candidate for eq

elder thistle
#

eh...

#

the difference is that's $400 and the sundara closed is $150

#

is the experience with moderate eq really almost 3 times worse?

#

I was more concerned with the technical ability, not the tonality

unique wind
#

if those peaks and dips are caused by resonances, internal reflections, or phase cancellations then you might not be able to eq them out

TechRadar review: "For a TV as thin as this, the quality of the audio from the LG CS – which outputs at 40W – is nothing short of exceptional, and even manages to exceed the quality that some dedicated soundbars can offer. So much so that the Dolby Atmos Surround Sound can genuinely creep up and surprise you if you aren’t expecting it, as it does manage to achieve sound height and width beyond the confines of the screen."

I’ve been using AirPods (first or second gen idk which) for the past few years but recently They stopped working . That being said I need to get new earbuds. I’d prefer if they had some sort of noise canceling and I’d like some suggestions on what to get so I figured I should come here

I'm just happy with going from the prior AMD Phenom II x4 > i7 7700 > soon to be i9 12900k. My first two processors were Celeron D single core and then AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core.

#

Stuck with onboard audio whole way through, soon to have an external DAC though at last.
