sundara has a closed back version 💀
does this channel talk about home theater stuff too?
not really
which is really bad
i assume so but i know a lil
no it isn’t
isn't really
sundara closed
yea i hate that abt closed
since these are 32 ohms i'd use the amp on low or nah
don't worry about it
also more ohms don't equate to needing an amplifier
sensitivity and ohms do
yep i found that out afterwards
- ig i have a kinda small head and a couple headphones ive tried on were too big, are k361 on the large side?
usually not an issue idk
its moderately sized
ive been getting into audio engineering
like heavy 40 gb projects on fl
and im in the market for a new cpu, im looking at a ryzen 7 5800x3d, a ryzen 9 5900x and a ryzen 9 5950x. Which would be better optimized and have better performance for working in a daw and needing maximum ram utilization
the ryzen 7 has the 3d cache but proportionally the 5950x had a lot more cores
where do the diminishing returns start?
5800X3D is probably your worse bet
don't think anything other than gaming properly utilizes the 3D cache, of course do tell me if I'm wrong
5950X should be the most powerful so if you want the best, probably just go for that
I don't think cpus are related to the audio chat
but feel free to hang around we don't have much visitors
but yeah, probably ask somewhere else like #tech-chat-1
you might have a bit less latency tho on big projects you probably want the more cores
got an audio question so i want to get myself a second pare of headphones got £100 to spend what would you guys recommend
the headphones wil be used with my Tascam US-2x2 interface
what about the PHILIPS Fidelio X2HR
the PHILIPS seem more like the way i want to go as they will be used at my pc to listen to music
it's only ability it being open back
its fairly meh
Hit the Trifecta of sound, style, and convenience with this 25-watt stereo hybrid Tube amp! The tube preamp stage adds warmth and richness that solid-state circuits can't touch, breathing new life into your digital music. The black Appearance with exposed tubes gives a look of uncluttered simplic...
thinking of trying tube amps
is this any good
not looking to spend more than 250
are the Sony WH-CH720Ns any good?
if not, what are some good wireless headphones/earbuds for around 100-150 USD?
maybe a combination of headphones and earbuds for seperate uses?
nothing thats wireless is good
sony, beats, bose etc are all the same
equally shit with muddy bass
Checkout what I did w/ my speakers 😂
Finally, Sound.
(fiio k7 pro)
Onboard Audio basically useless, Front panel Signal is broken, so i can use the k7 for both my open backs and my iems.
And additionally, i can use the line out for my speakers to hopefully leave the usb Chatter i can hear on the mobo out...
Sounds like a crap mobo, tho its actually a strix x570-i... Lol
Is the GXL2200 and the MC450 good for 462 AUD (295 usd)
not nessesilary true for example galaxy buds
im pretty sure ive heard jbl has a pair that wouldnt offend an audiophile
hey, normie here, I've been looking at moving to the Beyerdynamic DT990 pros @ 120 ohms from some steelseries wireless ones, but I was unsure if it is a good purchase, as I can't figure out what ohmage my motherboard audio supports, if I need an amp, and what budget amps are recommended. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Do not try this at home like I did.
There are many better alternatives to this headphone for both gaming and music.

#ninjaheadphones
why did nyvo review the dt990 lmao
He needed to verify if they would blend
dt880 or hd560s or something I guess
any reason you would recommend the dt880 over the 990s?
because its better
how is it better?
i would pick sennheiser hd560s for an open back or akg k371 for a closed back for that price range
those are the two most well tuned headphones in that price range and they’re both very very easy to power
I use g773 or whatever the frick the numbers are
Looking for some new earbuds rn. Anyone have experience with the galaxy buds 2?
so I got the hifi XS a few months ago and wanted to know what a good wireless counterpart would be. I really dig the sound i get from the XS and dont want to cart them around with a cable or anything so id like to find a good wireless pair too. Whos got the lowdown?
There's the hifiman Amanda wireless but I don't think anyone should buy that unless $600 is pocket change for them.
i mean i dont really have a budget as i had like 7 other headsets that equaled like 2k i think?
but woudl you say they are like as close to the wired XS behind an amp and dac?
I have the element 3 for reference
took me forever to get rid of them to get the wired ones but man im glad i did, these things are pretty good. now id like to kick the airpod max for good too 🙂
They'll sound similar. The differences between the edition xs and the Ananda are pretty minor.
I think the DAC and amp built into the Ananda will be good enough, they're probably not anything special.
If I were you I would get a qudelix 5k and a nice cable that you didn't mind tucking into your shirt.
Buying an expensive headphone whose lifespan is tied to a lithium ion battery seems like a waste to me.
Oh snap that min dac/amp would probably do nice for daw use on an ipad too! dang never thought of that!
Yeah thats the other things too i was thinking, like hows the battery or can i even replace it if needed. Id like to keep them for like 4-6 years ideally and with heavy use that battery would probably need replacing after 3-4 years id think?
Hmm, yeah true i havent had a headset ive kept that long so idk for sure either.
But i mean if im getting the mini dac id just forget the ananda and just bring the XS with me everywhere
I've had my qudelix for 3 years now and it works just like the day I've got it.
but i kinda didnt wanna do that.
Actually it works better since all the firmware updates.
Nice! it defeinitely looks like it would be worth it its just the idea was to have a complete wireless set almost as close to my wired set as I could have. But i mean i know its going to be hard to match a dac/amp wired headset by just a wireless bt set.
But that mini dac definitely has my attention now lol
So if say the ananda is a little pricey what would be the next best youd say? maybe 1-200 bucks cheaper?
doesn't have a stupid mid bass bump
you wont really find something as good sounding with built in wireless
the best way to tackle this is qudelix 5k like nils said
ok. What ohms would you recommend for integrated mobo audio, or do you think I would need extra equipment
250 ohms
ok
Yeah thats what i was assuming, basically nothing gonna touch the wired setup but wanted to get as close as i could and have the wife stop nagging that im taking her headset all the time lol
And something of better quality than the AirPods. Seems a bit muddy to me now after using the XS for awhile so now I don’t wanna use them as much
sorry i speak goofy i should have clarified. the airpods are what sounds muddy now i think just because of being used to the XS
so you think the audeze maxwell is better than airpods max?
300 not bad for them id guess?
that is how I understood it as well
oh ok lol my bad
airpod max are just bad in general
you can get better than them for relatively cheap
Yeah I just dont want to have to touch those anymore, and if this audeze is better then thats next on the list
snagged a 2nd hand valve index this morning for 500. gotta bank some cash again lol
valve index for 500 is pretty damn good
I was thinking so too. I ordered the bigscreen but idk when ill ever get it and just getting the VR itch again
and got stupid lucky....my cousin had some extra clearance items or some shit and he gave us 4 quest 2s for the family. so the families that got the quest 2's gave me back the rift and rift s's i gave them. so i literally have like 7 VR sets again lol
gonna try n get em sold ASAP for some new headphones!
Or maybe replace these old JBL 306's and LSR310 sub. idk yet lol
306 are pretty damn nice
maybe do some room treatment + eq
not saying you shouldn't get better speakers but any speaker you have and will get in the future would benefit from this
Oh i love them they are just beaten to hell. they were in a garage for a couple years and now have been inside for the past year. but its peeling along almost every corner on both speakers. Sub is fine maybe just replace the 2 speakers
My friend who had them before me proabably didnt take good care of them while he had them.
But he sold me the 2 speakers and sub for 450 back in 2020? maybe early 2021
yeah the sides are actually some type of glued on material thats peeling up
some dude is going to buy that from you for like 50$
then repair it for 20$ and make fun of you with his friends
oh for sure! but im not looking to profit off them or anything. i got plenty of use and enjoyed them
def got my moneys worth
and id prolly list them horridly cheap too. some people could just use a break lol
lol
and id partially consider the speakers issues as water damage. as the garage they were in was always wet and used as a pool room
i think thats where i feel they arent worth much. figured its peeling over the times random kids and people running past them soaking wet or pool toys and crap getting them wet
but no sound issues so atleast they 100 percent working lol
you could very well refurbish them for like 20$
refoaming speakers is a common practice
and not in the slightest possibly damage them? never done it before so unless its stupid easy id rather not lol
it shouldn't be difficult, plenty of youtube tutorials
the backs and fronts are perfect still. just the sides and the tops where the peeling is happening.
the foam or the paint?
hold on i got my 305s and they got something similar on the tops one sec
ohhhh! lol my bad no
completely cosmetic ill show ya one sec
ah
ah
The corners there are on my wifes 305's. And hers have been inside from day one bought brand new.
yeah
the front is plastic the rest is wood with that wallpaper material on it
but on mine that stuff is cracked n dry peeling up along every corner
yeah you'd have to peel it all of and recover it again
so would that be hard to do? or expensive?
not really but sticking paper to wood can be surprisingly tricky to do flawlessly
Yeah id bet id need some extras lol
you might also need to sandpaper some of the wood if the surface has warped in a way or another
couple mulligans 😛
yeah i think the wood is expanded a bit on one of them id have to peel it all off to tell for sure.
there are people who run this sort of service if you cant be bothered
I mean if its not crazy expensive id give it a shot or two? what do i need?
id assume specific type of materials they stick on there?
oh damn lol
generally I just give my speakers to professionals and they refurbish everything for me
yeah id have to start looking for some place that does that. oh well maybe worth a shot
i dont got anyone i know that is into that type of work or theyd already heard from me maybe
i mean it looks just like regular particleboard/plywood
but in terms of looking good, there are vinyl wood panels that are very convincing and feel nice
its just the glue/adhesive has turned it dark brown lol
ok yeah i guess ill have to see about some of those if i cant find someone who does it as a pro
i mean i doubt id screw it up alot. but i think id could make it presentable and much better looking than now
welp
id advise wallpaper that has been covered with adhesive by stock because the general stuff used needs you to sandpaper the wood to get rid of the adhesives
so if you mess up the amount you would need to sandpaper multiple times
oof good point. yeah depending on how swoolen the wood is once its all off will tell.
but yeah good idea for some with adhesive already on it. id prolly end up with air pockets n shit lol
Probably a noobie question but could someone explain a DAC? Like how does it work when i plug it into my computer?
Digital-to-analog converter
It converts digital signal to analog signal
It won't do anything new per-say in comparison to your on-board audio, but it will be able to supply enough power to better headphones.
you know your headphone jack right
behind it are two processes that occur
digital to analog conversion and then the amplification
a dac does the digital to analog part which is essentially making information into an actual sound
and an amp takes the signal outputted by the dac and strengthens it so that you can feed it to your headphones
You can support this channel on Patreon! Link below
These days, listening to music on the analog formats of old has seen a massive resurgence. Whether it’s cassettes or vinyl, it seems analog is in and mp3’s are out. But digital sound is pretty freaking neat! This video discusses how it works and is the launching point for this, the fin...
When you say better, how better of headphones are we talking?
I used a vague term, sorry. Basically studio headphones, but even many of those don't have high impedence.
Most headphones and earphones are in the 16-32 ohm range.
If you have like 150 ohm headphones you won't hear anything even on 100% or just a whispering
So would it even be noticeable on a 32 ohm headset if i were to buy an external DAC?
I would say not...
If you don't have somekind of interference with you on-board audio (hearing buzz or hum), then there is no need for it.
this is completely false
250ohm beyers are 100% usable on any basic motherboard
because ohms are meaningless
there is a measurement called sensitivity
if anything more ohms make headphones easier to drive because it needs less current
Welp, then I have no idea what is DAC for except high-end audio and need for more in/outputs
yes given dacs aren't usable by themselves anyways
they need an amplifier chained to them
So, regardless of what everyone might think of the brand, steelseries sells some of their headsets with a DAC. Does it even do anything then?
the gamedac is just for utilities
I am more accustomed to DACs with integrated amp. Like Schiit...
if all of this was a rhetorical question to ask us about steelseries headphones
I can already tell you to just avoid steelseries in its entirety because they make bad headphones
get audeze maxwell and be done with whatever you want
easily the best wireless headphone on the market
except ananda bt maybe which isn't suitable for gaming
I more just dont understand what a DAC is and how it could.help anything
I mean both nils and I answered you already
you just have to read
or watch the video in nils' case
And i dont understand why they would need to offer it when no one else seems to offer one in that market
you mean steelseries?
the steelseries thing is just for stupid utilities that don't have anything to do with a dac or an amplifier
Cuz people see it as more value.
its like a chat mix
Oh weird
or a surround toggle
I mean...those things are pretty need for average gamer
that is true but you can get better functionality for 50$ with other items
But an actual DAC it is not
Right
in some point in your headphone/speaker chain, there is a dac and an amplifier
maybe even in the headphones themselves
Back in the good old days motherboard manufactuers would actually boast about audio capabilities 😄
Pretty standard on motherboards now, correct?
Got it
unless its not like a standalone amplification unit
dac makes info into sound, amp makes the sound signal louder so it can actually power your headphones/speakers
Now if i was to look into a nice studio headset, would i look at getting an external DAC or would onboard probably still be gtg?
im going to sound like a bitch but some things to correct there
headset means a set of headphones + mic
and studio headphones don't necessarily mean good, most studio headphones are mass produced durable headphones that don't particularly need to sound good
people call the good sounding headphones generally music headphones or audiophile headphones
as for your actual question, honestly unless like you are 300$ into headphones I wouldn't be concerned about a dac/amp
Awesome, makes that easier
Baseline Klaus
So i just purchased some creative pebbles with a subwoofer and im having trouble setting them up on my pc could anyone help never really messed around with speakers before
you should read the manual
Anyone familiar with the audiotechnica m50x headphones? They decent as a relatively affordable pair for gaming?
pretty bad
Bad how?
Awful compared to what? Like what would you recommend?
I like them a lot for classic rock as well as playing with groups.
I like my 6XXs for listening to jazz, classical, and gaming
I like my headset to have earthy tones
what does earthy tone mean
when the bass hits gravel and dirt needs to fly out from the drivers
exactly what i think whenever someone describes sound
these audiophiles can smell sound
assuming something is nonsense because you dont understand it is a common habit of highly intelligent and learned people
this is the response someone gives sharur every 5 minutes
which he of course acknowledges and improves himself as a person afterwards
and doesn't quote random sentences from forum posts of harman researchers
m50x is probably one of the most overhyped headphones out there. they're $150 and worse than $40 koss porta pros.
i think they'd be appropriate at $30
maybe $20
you mean worse than the 18$ ksc75
ksc75 doesnt have bass extension. id rather not give m50x any chance
or the truthear holas
regardless. there's about a half dozen options which are better sounding while being signifncantly cheaper
Drop has the pc37x for super cheap. How much of a downgrade would that be?
37x is still worth
odds are still significantly better than the m50x though
Fair enough
What makes the 6xxs good for gaming?
better than nothing imaging
but hd560s is a bit better and tygr 300r is a lot better at that
Hey, kinda obscure considering what this channel is mostly used for but can anybody give me a recommendation on how I should arrange the speakers for my deck that I'm replacing, I have pictures but I'd rather DM them than send them here
I can't take ShortCircuit seriously.
To be honest I never did, but I saw a bit of value in it even though I looked at it as affiliate link machine more than anything...
But 5 minutes on a audio product? I know Linus defended it that ShortCircuit is basically just unboxing, but considering how influential your hosts are to fans... Many bad purchases can be done because of this.

Adam's here to check out the new Razer Moray IEMs that are pointed squarely at streamers. With a ton of competition and a rocky audio peripheral history, will Adam be impressed with these or are they a swing and a miss?
Buy Razer ...
I don't think you need more than a minute or two to review an item honestly
and gotta love misspelling the brnad name xd
First and foremost your speakers should always be pointed at your ears without anything in front of them.
Second try and make an equilateral triangle, speaker even distance from each other and from you. Then adjust positioning until it sounds best.
Third, try and move them away from surfaces. Walls, desk, monitor face. All of those things can impact sound. If you can lift them off your desk and keep them away from your rear wall that's good enough
I feel that most youtubers stretch out basic pros and cons of headphones for so long that it has become the norm to spend 20 minutes to review anything
Okay, but this isn't a review and the claims are from few seconds of impression. Yet the influence on the viewer can be high.
fair
I know, the main thing that I'm struggling with is that my deck is a very weird shape and multi-level
also it's my deck, not desk lol
outdoor audio
Third, try and move them away from surfaces. Walls, desk, monitor face.
Levitation? Especially the desk. How woul I lift them off the desk? Like a stand...?
Most people would use a stand yes.
I forgot all about this guy
Most forgettable ltt main character
do I wanna watch this
Damn, that is fcking crit dmg
I love some of his SC stuff... Razer Baracuda was funny
generally you will watch zeos speak nonsense for 30 minutes and conclude that while he talks he isn't saying anything
and then you watch this guy who accomplishes the same in two minutes of time
that's talent
average audio """"reviewers"""" in a nutshell
I miss the days when written reviews were more common and had more funding...
Written audio reviews were never good
There's some written reviews that weren't bad
I started with IEMs thanks to this site:
https://audiobudget.com/
Budget Earphone & Earbud Reviews
I liked tylls old writings
same with crin
granted most sites are just lifestyle bloggers shilling shitware
Well what makes those exceptional is the fact that they didn't rely on just writing.
They were objective measurements with a written review that added context
Topping dx3 pro+ or magni
magni
Magni sucks
so does the dx3
On my 3rd one because of quality control issues
that doesn't say anything relative to the performance, just the quality control
zen can
Then why'd you ask
how do you kill a magni 3 times
H300
Pot issues
Tons of resistence and inconsistency turning
Buzzing and distortion when adjusting
Like mine has now
That's not really an issue.
That's not exclusive to schiit
You're not adjusting volume while you're listening
Tried it on my 90$ cheap amp and it didint have it
Its ultra obnoxious if you listen to anything low hz and adjust knob
Low hz
Tested it with a tone generator and its across all hz
But noticeable when listening to bass heavy songs
Is that grayshadow guy still here
Grado guy left too
this server is full of sharur tier help
imagine recommending schiit after someone here literally posted one of their more expensive models letting out smoke
lower quality control standards than hifiman
this image
it sounds like an apple dongle
when I invest money into something I expect it to sound better
and not get an apple dongle with a higher power out
imagine expecting an amp to sound better when they are not supposed to color the sound
This fucking server
because sound is subjective and neutral sound is not stimulating to humans
you live in a 24/7 echo and distortion chamber
it would be weirder for you to be mentually stimulated by neutrality
this channel is an echochamber for sharur tier shitposting
that's why humanity invented the concept of demoing rooms 50 years back
you of course
You are listening to the music as it was mixed not the coloring of the amp skewing the sound
Schizos
there are 20 reasons you aren't receiving the neutral "artist's intended" sound to begin with
Amp being neutral should be your last concern.
EQ goes as far as frequency response goes
which even rtings isn't as stupid to claim is everything in a headphone
according to some people it makes sense to buy a steaming pile of shit like an HD 650 and then buy an amp that costs 2x as much as it to "give it full potential"
I'd like to enjoy you equalize impulse response and bandwith into a headphone
would certainly be a sight
yeah thats silly
issue is
headphones aren't perfect
so there isn't a perfect impulse response or frequency response
Klaus is just a harmon trained expert here like sharur
"BBBUT iMPulSE RESPONSE IS jusT ANOTHer REprESEntaTIoN of frequency response!!"
so everything to a degree slips into subjectivity
Looking into numbers doesn't mean anything when they cannot be adjusted with a calculator in real life
You add one dampener and 50 parameters change
No
Re-read
I don't
you are misinterpreting everything in a way that favors you

I am telling you that understanding the science behind something is vastly different than utilizing it in real life
Everything you have said assumes that we can measure frequency response perfectly
which isn't even true lol
So we can't have perfect impulse response?
Thank you.
I don't because headphones are imperfect by default
which is why things can be subjective
same as dacs and amps
which you fail to understand
It was a rhetorical statement
I restated multiple times that perfect cannot exist
Because headphones are flawed by nature
They don't have what we describe as a stage
A speaker can stimulate whatever room you are in
and that is natural
Harmon trained listener
a headphone is two driver strapped to your ears that tries to stimulate a natural room
If by software you mean an equalizer then yes it is impossible to compensate for that
If that was possible then the need for purchasing new headphones would be an irrelevant concept
you would just get a free airplane supplied in ear and eq it to warwick aperios or something
That is true
I never stated something might be possible or not in the future
but currently, we can't
would be lovely if we could
No, I am agreeing that I don't know about it
Yes
uh
Lol what?
Because I don't have future sight I don't think this makes headphones perfect
lmao
We shouldn't be talking hypothetics if we can't prove them
it wouldn't be fruitful, not to me at least
If I was in fact intelligent enough to discuss a technology that does not yet exist and also convinced you are capable of the same
yeah I think this would be a fruitful conversation
I feel that you are using staging as a one thing
just one factor, which is inherently not wrong
but the aftereffects of that staging are huge and are what makes speakers a generally preferred tool over headphones
I don't claim that you think or state otherwise but I just want to clarify regardless
resonance, diffusion
and the directionality of all of it
You can't really tell a headphone driver to physically come to a halt faster with software
it would be like asking a car to stop faster with a program
it's not very realistic
yeah but headphone drivers aren't physically capable of this
because of how they are made?
I don't follow
this is incorrect
at this point I am fairly certain you are baiting me
might have taken me a bit too long to realize
Yeah I noticed back when software could make headphones perfect lol
Now that had me goin
people really do think that one so I took it as possible
why are there people that believe that there is no "speed' to a driver and that the transient responsiveness doesnt exist and its only the frequency response that matters
saying that an hd 600 is as good as an electrostat
actually saw a forum post claiming that
you don't have speakers?
here is a pair of ksc75 and eq apo
no need to thank :^)
just eq in the room
What about actual bass presence. Don’t think there’s anything you can do to give that real feel you only get from full size speakers or monitors?
no point in arguing with people that think you can get the same sound as speakers or high end headphones with something like an IEM with an "ideal" frequency response
think of it like making a car's brakes stronger with a program
I am not sure how you can argue otherwise
Dumb and dumber intellectual shit flinging contest
there are people that belive that if you have a shit driver and EQ it to the "same" frequency response an actually good one that it will sound "identical"
you were filtered by a knob making a noise while dialing it
be humble man
you can just try for yourself
get two headphones
there are multiple reasons
some reasons being that say you have a 20db sub bass rolloff and you EQ to make the sub bass 20db higher than the rest of the FR
the drivers cannot handle it and start to shit themselves
severe distortion
thats an obvious example
Klaus the ultimate reddit soy lord who spends all his time arguing sharur tier shitpost
I argue with sharur constantly
I have no idea how you come to this conclusion
maybe
not exactly the same
but close perhaps
lots of factors
like the driver
I dont think you can simulate sound stage and correct for really bad imaging with just equalizing frequency response
ears are extremely sensitive to delays in the sound reaching your eardrum and differences in that
it being different in one way than another makes the sound different
Are we being raided by AHS shitters
like if a sound is slightly more delayed reaching one ear than the other it gives a perceived location
and why your ears have a specific shape
wouldn't be the 1st time
there are serveral measurements like distortion, frequency response, impulse response and group delay
do you think id ever need more than one mic input on an interface when its being used to record voiceovers/youtube videos
and more which I probably don't know about
how did you become an admin in ahs
you are still ignoring the other measurements I mentioned and the ones I myself admitted to not knowing
you are very up to touch with AHS then lol
Cant win with pseudointellects
except for sharur stepping into the speaker zone
first thing sharur did was saying that room treatment is irrelevant for good speakers
:/
i mean harman made a paper on the subject in 2002
that is true
but not true mostly
there is stuff you can eq and stuff you can't
someone who thinks that room treatment is not important is either trolling or fully braindead
well yeah I guess you aren't wrong, I was just upset by you saying "mostly" to the issues you can eq out
because the sound waves will reflect off of the walls
based
they don't to my knowledge
reflections are good
just
when they are adequate
reael
reflections are bad when its to the point that it sounds like you are shouting into an empty barrel
yes but anechoic is a bit different than that
that is really just making speakers into headphones with crossfeed
still its dumb to think that reflections can be eliminated or compensated for adequately by just EQing
they can be compensated for somewhat
id like to test out harman target speakers in an anechoic chamber
it would be interesting
harman defines reflections as a bit different than normal users
they define stuff as like, acoustical interference
which people normally just call reflections
so I can why blaxkor is saying what he is saying
im chill
yep
did sharur bring it up recently
really do
Try not to bring up shitposting meme channels for 3 minutes challenge impossible
sharur refuted this with floyd saying no room treatment can be fine in a single forum post
ah
on my way to do antitreatment to a room by hanging up gongs and cymbals on each wall
would be fairly epic ngl
glass wouldn't look as mentally unhinged as cymbals
they sound objectively worse
I appreciate them for privacy and outdoors though
the only thing that reduces or eliminates the need for room treatment is a pair of headphones or in ear
ok so put your "best" speakers right up against a flimsy wall that echos when you even talk near it
with a 1 inch gap behind
that is a bit different though
its like saying wear your headphones the other way around
speaker placement is part of room treatment
This channel needs psychiatric treatment
if the room is big enough then the reflections do not matter
unless you are playing the speakers at a concert volume level and the sound waves coming back have enough power
ever heard an underground sports hall's acoustics
goodn't
they do sound awful
Beyond repair
generally
I feel like there is maybe an ideal listening position in theaters
you took into account where you were standing?
yeah like where in the room
same
oh
maybe its better sounding for the ground floor, I thought this when it was sounding this bad
never been to a good movie theater either
its just a shitty distorted sub and lots of nasal frequencies where I go
I don't think I have actually
honestly
might
imax is a fucking meme anyways
they throw certificates to anything
I went to this one cinema and you could literally see them dim the projector's light to save money
it was such a shitshow
in imax
yeah
it is lmao
had I known better back then I would have asked for my money back
Worth it?
Yes
can a scarlett solo + fethead power shure sm57 or do i not need a fethead
opinions on Sennheiser HD 450BT for casual use
if you can use digital gain and a compressor then you should be fine.
otherwise it might not be as loud as you want for discord
so like
i could just bump it up in audacity
yeah. or OBS. or voicemeeter. or whatever.
wont it have more hiss though
yes
in theory
but in practice it might not even be noticable
i would try it out before dropping $100+ on a fethead
alright
im not doing music or whatever so i dont think i need an interface
with more than
1 mic input
ah.
skip the scarlet solo then.
get the wave xlr. its got digital gain baked into it and can drive the sm57 without any issues
also now that i think about it too why the sm57
thats more expensive than i remember
canada
cuz it sounds like sm7b but costs 400$ less
i actually
like it better than sm7b
its nice and tiny too
i like the sm57 better than the 58 too
okay then
most youtube comparisons said it was better too
ima try to find that wave thing somewhere else
oh brother not this guy again
ur positive this can power sm57?
Here's another interface up in that price range
https://a.co/d/daudank
more expensive. does less.
how does ebay look
this is basically the only listing
looks like a good deal.
is a month worth $65 cad
to me
uh
probably not
oh wait
bestbuy one doesnt come till at least the 21st lol..
not the worst.
personally i'd do the ebay one. save it from the landfill and its a significant chunk of change
then again you're also giving money to a french canadian which is its own downside
well its not the only thing that works well. just imo the best
scarlet solo and free software to bump up the gain would work too
or getting a usb mic.
solo + fethead wouldnt be that much more than the wave itself
now that i think about it
its almost the exact same

Didn't goxlr go bankrupt
¯_(ツ)_/¯
is the Shure SRH840A and Blue Ender good for 375 aud
ok i checked and it says they dont support the goxlr anymore
the thing should still function tho
What are the odds of a windows update making the goxlr incompatible?
(I'm genuinely curious)
yea im not bothering with it lol
i think im just gonna go with the solo + fethead i really dont want to wait
if i dont like sometihng, i can just return it
magic of amazon
opinions on Sennheiser HD 450BT for casual use
looks... interesting...
of courtse this little shit goes on a tiny sale right after i buy it
ight nerds, what are razer rebranding this time
oops that's a floatplane link lol
Check out PowerColor’s Red Devil RX 7900 Series GPUs and Devil Skin GPU Backplates at https://shop.powercolor.com/
Adam's here to check out the new Razer Moray IEMs that are pointed squarely at streamers. With a ton of competition and a rocky audio peripheral history, will Adam be impressed with these or are they a swing and a miss?
Buy Razer ...
if i have to guess, kz?
kz churn out bunch of iems with that ergo shell, the tuning is also in line with most in house kz tuning
its worse than the solo
is the AKG K371 and PD70 good for 377 aud
Get sundaras
idk anything about the pd70 microphone but akg k371 is unbeatable for the price if you want a closed back
Its 228 aud atm which is like 150 usd I believe
its a bit more expensive than it should be but not a terrible price
Dt770s with EQ could also be an option. Without EQ they are kinda shit tho
They sound bad with EQ too
Imo if you have to add eq to recommend it then it shouldn’t be recommended
eh
there are only a handful of closed back headphones that aren’t total rubbish without eq
So its fine?
yeah decent headphone
the k371 are $228aud?
i don’t know anything about it
headphonesdotcom says 150msrp
rare european w
they are on thomann?
211 on thomman
135 usd saves me about 10$
theres also b stock thatd save me like 50$
117$ usd
nvm
ah 80$ for shipping
sticking to amazon then
yea thats a fine mic
also it needs an interface just in case you are not aware
i have a umc 202hd
ok, you are good then
Old
So I tried rocking the Zero REDs outside. I even borrowed some bluetooth "adapters" that stick into each bud.
I really miss the Speak-to-Chat function of my WF-1000XM4 - realized that I have a lot of unforeseeable encounters that I cannot prepare by taking out the buds and the triple flange eartips don't make it much easier to do in a hurry...
Today was the straw that broke the camels back when I was asked if it's hearing aid
I guess that Truthears will stay at home and for trips and the XM4s have still a job to do.
skill issue
its in cad
yes and?
what do u even mean
i said that item is worse than the solo
why does it matter if it is on discount
oh wait
it IS the solo
So, i got the Skullcandy Crushers ANC 2.... All i can say.. Wow. May not be the best headphones, but when it comes to bass, which i love, they are so fuckin good. Has anybody else tested them yet? want to hear the thoughts of other people on them
i want someone to measure crushers with the bass slider maxed out
i use them with maxed out slider.. they are sooo fuckin good
tho i do think 50% is more than enough if ya dont wanna blow ur head up
So my Arctis Pro finally snapped at the earcup hinge
JB Weld? -- Not in the financial situation to buy a new headset atm and I have JB Weld at home - Plastic bonder
Glue will help for all about 5 minutes. You need something that will reinforce it against bending because that's what broke it in the beginning.
you need go reinforce it with some sort of metal
i saw someone added some bolts lol
Yeah. That would be appropriate.
ill still epoxy the break then
had these for 3 years
so metal reinforcement, ill find something
I'll ask in here, because the conversation in public chat got me thinking, but the general consensus is that headsets with built-in mics have substantially worse mic quality than most standalone mics, correct?
Generally yes.
Word, I know there are definitely some higher grade like, broadcaster headsets that will have significantly better mic quality, but I'd imagine the overall recommendation would be to get a standalone mic and headset?
I mean if all you need the mic for is disrespecting minors in call of duty, you could use anything
But really, i would image it depends on what you need it for
if it is under 2 years appeal for warranty and get your money back
oh rip
still, those lasting 3 years is super impressive
My main thing about getting a standalone mic rather than a headset is it allows you to upgrade your headphones without worry.
Like there's maybe a handful of headsets that are competitive compared to studio or hifi headphones.
So the upgrade path is pretty limited.
i tried realllllly hard not to put pressure on that point knowing they do break
clearly user error and a skill issue as we all know that consumer audio electronics are built to the utmost quality with the most durable components and best design practices in mind
Still salty about you breaking your ear pads?
im looking for a new wireless gaming headset could anyone recommend any good ones they have used?
thoughts on these?
the default recommendation in here is the Audeze Maxwell
i aint made of money lol
Well you didnt Name a Budget
yeah my bad anything under £150 preferably
cant really justify spending £320 on maxwells
Recommend to me yesterday, the pc38x
Or the pc37x is a bit cheaper
From sennheiser/epos
i don’t know of any other wireless gaming headsets that i could recommend
just get yourself these then you have better headphones
i know its not wireless but you get better audio
not sure why wireless is so popular when you have to deal with batteries and on anything with bluetooth abysmal latency
perceivable delay
Not having a cable is a pretty good feeling
why does it matter if you are sitting behind a desk not moving
get a standalone mic and some 150$ studio headphones
yeah but your body moves
Some people get up from their desks and move (shocking)
inconceivable notion
ive used wireless for the past 5 years just dont really want to go back to having a wire
I just like pluggin stuff in
@unique wind who's the person who keeps complaining about the xs headband
Anyone got tips on affordable headphones with good sound?
like i want headphones that would be good for being immerged in the game... coming from the SteelSeries arctic pro wireless
They kinda broke at the joint today
define "affordable"
do you need a mic.
I can buy one if thats the case
Cheap usb mic will still be better then the built in one w steelseries
probably
check out the pc37x
looks like its on sale now for $80
Hmmmmm
you're not gonna find a better headphone for $80. much less a better headset.
same guy who broke their pads
Just waiting for the day my steelseries headset dies now
Once i buy some new headphones the arctis will be designated for the few times i play online
Its a ticking time bomb...
Clearly
Mine have held up but like the past 2 days i saw someones broke
Built a whole new setup so i should at least get some decent headphones to do the games justice
Is a more redicoulus combination possible?
200 Euro fiio k7 pro and 35 Euro kz zs10 pro x
Disclaimer got that amp for other headphones obv - and to also drive my speakers, but mostly cause im sick of all the things that annoyed me about other dac/amps...
Im happy now, so i dont care, not gonna argue about that buy decision xD
Either way, it feels very funny to plug my iems in there, at a eighth of the cost.
Doing that rn cause i dont have any other choice for Audio on my iems and i - have the amp here.
Dont always like over ear headphones on...

But its kinda funny, the k7 is bigger than my pc psu.
I'm not sure anyone posted this here before, but Epos (formerly Sennheiser Gaming) is shutting down their gaming biz. So if anyone intends on getting the PC37X, PC38X or GameOne headset, nows the time 🥲
https://www.anandtech.com/show/20049/epos-winds-down-former-sennheiser-gaming-headphone-business
there goes the only decent 150$ headset
I wish the dt990s 770s and the pros were better cause god they are comfy af
stretched out 6x0 pretty much just as comfy
or get the 880
alright im looking for a wireless headset with a mic i want it to be good but not too pricey i was reccomended the audeze maxwell but its like £350 and im hoping i could find something closer to the £200 price mark
cloud 2
this?
Yes
I just had my power go out, and my schiit fulla (connected & powered via usb to my motherboard) is not listed in my audio outputs now, I've tried it on two computers, two cables. When I plug power into it I hear a sound in my headphones, the usual power sound, idk what to call it. Is it dead? Anything I can try or just straight to warrenty?
it sounds like you've done the appropriate trouble shooting tips. i would email schiit.
You recon they cover these types of issues? I'd assume it falls on me for not properly setting it up
wdym not properly setting it up
inb4 using it in the bath
well its on me to protect my stuff from power surges
it isn't really
given the item has surge warranty
amps generally do so I presume schiit also does?
will need to check
Worth it?
I have an old sony amp which I thought I burnt out a few months back, refused to work at all and would just enter protect mode as soon as you would tey to play anything at any volume but I decided to test it today just for hopes sake and it just worked perfectly, is there any general explanation for this
maybe you shorted something?
something else just happened that im on 10/30 volume (also using original speakers for amp for the impedance to be matched) it just went into protect mode when it reached some heavy bass
that sound exactly like something is shorted
my brother who has a really similar amp to me had a similar issue of it going into protect mode because the connections arc when the volume is high enough because of how close they are
so it shorts
you're not gonna get good advice in ltt. check out the podcastage discord instead.
they handle a lot more pro audio and recording stuff
just google it man
automod gets upset when you post discord links.
my logitech g pro x broke and are being held together with blue tack and double sided tape
Im not that dedicated to this headset
i find it funny how its a huge amp and some no offence crappy iems
because gaming headsets may have bluetooth but they also have a dongle so they can significantly cut down latency making them usable for actual gaming
if you get bluetooth adaptor amplifiers like fiio utws5 you can get 420kbps 80ms delay or 280kbps 50ms delay which isnt very noticeable
and then you can adapt those to plug into over ear headphones
wireless hifi with usable latency
usable for music listening unusable for any fps games
that isn't related to the bt adapters
its related to the receiver you have
those all have like 200-300ms delay with windows defaults
it's both
you need adaptors and a receiver that both support aptx adaptive
it's not
alright enough trolling
literally read benchmarks
show me them
im not calling you a liar but i cant find anything that supports what youre saying
afaik aptx low latency and aptx adaptive are the two fastest codecs
where are these benchmarks
that is a bold thing to say when you aren't providing any of your own
I am looking for them
80ms is the opposite of low latency
considering proprietary 2.4ghz receivers still get you like 35-45ms of latency best case, 80ms isnt bad
especially when human reaction time to audio is much lower than visual
bold of you to say that when you haven't done anything on the contrary
i showed you that the documentation claims 80ms
yes
which doesn't show any of the other aptx codecs
no aptx low latency
no aptx hd
no standard aptx
wonderful argument tysm
aptx and aptx hd are both around 200ms iirc
pretty much everything that doesnt boast about low latency is in the 200-250ms range
you honestly cant perceive it
but if that's a big deal to you the new creative bt-w5 claims to let you manually force 50ms 280kbps
which would work pretty well for games
have you tested it yourself
i guess if you play stuff like moba games with a 60hz monitor and 125hz peripherals 50-80ms is fine to you
ive had my share of bluetooth shit
naw i have experience with basically every monitor type in existence
ive used the 25" acer 1080p 4ms 390hz ips monitor, the 32" 2.5ms 1440p240hz odyssey g7, i currently own the alienware aw3423dwf, the innocn 27m2v, and dough spectrum one
im also using the 25g g-wolves hsk pro ace wireless mouse
the delay on aptx adaptive was never the reason i died in val or csgo
no reason to use bluetooth for gaming why add to your overall latency
that doesn't give you an idea of what it feels like because you were probably using something that has a 200-250ms delay which would be quite annoying in games
im not trying to make anyone use bluetooth i just brought up that it was an option and people that have no experience with it gave incorrect information
so i corrected it
wired stuff can very well have 80ms
I really don't think you have tested this
unless youre a top-level player then using aptx adaptive is almost never going to be the reason that you died in a game
i mean if youre using an intel wifi card that has SBC bluetooth capability then that isnt aptx adaptive klaus
there is a reason creative's receiver literally bypasses the native bluetooth
youre basically saying "use a different codec and try"
obviously SBC is going to be slow
dude
you have a card that literally bypasses windows bluetooth handling
are you for real
yeah that's required so what's the point
youre not getting aptx adaptive on pc without one of these
you are
wifi card bluetooth is only sbc and basic aptx as far as i know
and at that point
how do you know it is aptx adaptive that makes the difference
you are literally eliminating like 200ms just by using a non native bluetooth adapter
nah
yeah.
you realize there is no "native windows bluetooth adapter"
every adapter that uses the generic drivers is one
which is like
98% of the market
when youre in this menu youre still going through whatever wifi/bluetooth card you have in your pc
it bypasses the native handling
it has its own drivers to work bluetooth
it doesn't rely on windows
💀 💀 💀
okay michael please buy a generic bluetooth dongle and provide your results
I am sure you will have no delay whatsoever
that generic bluetooth dongle doesnt support aptx adaptive so how would that be a conclusive test
if i use standard it's going to be like 200ms no matter what receiver im on
based on what you said, it shouldn't be that noteable
its like you are almost starting to get it
i think youre confused
youre arguing nothing
there is no sense in your argument at all
go get a generic driver dongle
and use the same codec as the creative one
then compare
that would be a complete waste of time because it doesn't support adaptive klaus
yeah don't use adaptive for comparison
i think i can force SBC on the creative adapter but why would i do that
it's gonna have 200ms of latency
so that you can compare
