you can make it acceptable but it’s still very weird
oratory made a profile for it and it’s still not great
dt990 is unironically dramatically better after eq
still too dampened
+6db 4.5khz or smth?
Imagine doing dt990 eq when 880 exists
if you’re willing to eq i would say 990 is better
they also added a shit ton of dampening on the dt880 for the black edition and made it horrible
880 is only better if you’re not willing to eq
880 is also better built ;-;
Main issue with beyer is just treble and just like sennheiser sucks at closed backs
Technical ability is good
I want to get some wireless anc, just need to decide on which…
Basically just looking at airpods max, qc45 or momentum 4
whatever 880 model oratory measured has massive mud stock but it’s absolutely superb with eq
wait
Airpods max surprisingly comfortable for the weight
yea they did rly good with that
holy fuck what even is the 880 black edition
what is that shit
must be designed to listen to metal music which sounds terrible
yea I said that... they dampened the shit out of it
You can't even properly fix it with eq without modding it
oratory seemed to manage
Only for tuning
doing mods is going to change the FR in ways you won’t be able to tell without measuring it yourself
ofc
But the amount of foam in there
Is not helping
I'd rather remove the foam then eq by ear
than keep the foam
that’s mad
I was so pissed off when I discovered the 880 blakc
because it actually looks clean
But it sounded so shit
i haven’t used my headphones since static shock killed my magnius
LMAO
i’ve just been using fiio utws5
Ykw fair
I haven't used my headphones for months
And k361 are closed back and comfy for library
it really isn't
I used both before choosing
k361 is a bit brighter but the mid scoop also brings the bass out more
yes I'm calling it V shaped
But it's one of my preferred V shaped headphones
it's not that weird
k371 nails treble stock tho
it’s mainly the higher treble that’s weird
it's not bad
it's fine
that might be why he measured it twice
there's less clamp on the k361
i was curious why he did
So it's a lot pickier with head shape
the overall presentation is pretty similar the 3-6k range is still wack
we need a headphone with 20db 2.5khz boost but bass roll off starting at 600hz
I reality I actually think k361 treble is fine but has a peak around 2.5k, rather than recession 3k+
i sentence you to listen to kz x hbb pr2 for 10 hours
15db boost in the air frequencies
It actually does make sense given afaik k361 is Harman 2013 while 371 is Harman 2017
Except the bass on the k361 is closer to 2017 than 2013
@unique wind would you use the HD820 if I gave you one?
the mid scoop is 2013 tho
wait wut
i would
i would eq it and use it
hd820 stock tuning is actually so funny
would you use TH909 on a darkvoice?
Tfw someone who attached two glass lens to an hd800 out of boredom got better tuning than the 820
boost starting at like 800hz
hd820 and DT770/1770 FR looks similar to me
how the fuck did he fix it
i believe measured on minidsp ears
why
at least better than 820 on FR
he likes the mud
nope
||as a gift for your worst enemy||
there seems to be a heavy overlap between people who like mud and people who listen to metal
and other 70s-90s music
probably because most of it sounds like a cheese grater for your ears
yea cause the bassist is just standing there and they can't hear it
you listen to weeb music probs
I listen to kpop now....
i’m born in 03
I'm also very picky with what I listen to

i do listen to a lot of modern music though
Eve....
hyperpop and aggressive core music shit
oh I prefer more rock inspired pop
what about it?
j-pop is basically just pop-rock in the west honestly
basically just this kinda and classical I listen to at this point
https://open.spotify.com/track/72uSoNIf7eScfGZFQjNHrR?si=IK6JbM2FS-ChF7q9HyQrIA
I had a dramaturgy phase for like a month
they've got some nice stuff at least
I would die trying to listen to western pop tho...
closest I would go is imagine dragons there
anyways for vocal performances, here's a ballad that I (surprisingly) liked https://open.spotify.com/track/7HrCnwDvbtCKSZtpNDmII9?si=vSQQuRYDT2S9lO2Xr0bizg
it's also ancient
I would use HD6x0 for that
yes it sound great with 6xx
But
on any decent set of speakers
It's better
Oh yea that's why I don't use headphones

god I hate speakers
prefer the way headphones sound
You're too close
A good room with good speakers
so good
songs like that ballad I sent you're not chasing after details
just tonality
I want to get to the point I could live in a 2x2 room while still having a place to cook, a large display (perceived display size in VR is fine) dishwasher, washing machine, a place to sleep, etc
speakers are the way
imagine using dishwashers
imagine not using a dishwasher when you are a lazy pos that baked and boils at medium heat in glass bowls for an hour in the oven and gets food stuck to it
tfw trying to make food basically automatic
put it in a bowl, put it in the oven, done
I want to get a slow cooker and a combi microwave
just make an entire week worth of food easily
then put it in the microwave when needed
microwave because ovens are bigger
and combi microwave can still just do the same
...
what do you do for fun conpin
wait until I can leave
my life right now: waiting until a place opens up in a city to start school and learn the stuff needed to get a job out of this country and move away
just wake up > eat > sleep > repeat
wok op
requires you to stay near it, so no
con i am increasingly not convinced of your humanity
why tho father
you have peculiar behaviors and mannerisms
explain
so?
He's built different
...
also, you forgot I can't handle 20'C without taking a shower every few hours but can go shirtless in -5'C
I came from mars
you’re a hairless yeti
be great if we had earbuds what are great for hifi and have passive and active noise cancelling
i like my samsung galaxy pro buds 2 but the nc is ehhhhhhhhhhhhh
yeah i think all the options with good sound have mediocre noise cancelling unfortunately
galaxy buds like you said and akg n700nc m2
for me so far i would have to say the best nc ive seen on stuff ive used the last 5 years would have to be the wh1000xm4s
best overall choice probably like airpods pro
the nc on wf1000xm4 were very dissapointing
in terms of sound vs ANC quality
there has to be a company making full nc earbuds with a good sound signature
kinda hard when noise cancelling actively f's with sound tho
iems with foam tips block a shit load of noise
i can’t hear my window air conditioner unit 3 feet behind me when i use those
still waiting for in ears that actually stay in my ears...
no this is me
in the winter when the temps rose th -10 I was running around in just a t shirt
Super comfy temps
I prefer indoor temps around like 12'C
lower when outside because you wear clothes
the colder the easier to breathe
until it gets too cold
-50?
nah
no you’re going the wrong way
id say anything below sub 0 fahrenheit which is -18c
eventually the air starts to burn its so cold man
when you have to catch your breath anyway
starts to happen at 16'C already
gotta love cutting and burning parts of your airways at the hospital to try and be able to breathe properly
my preferred indoor temp is 19C, outdoor temp is around 10
I find it easiest to breathe then
i like a solid 20c inside
I am already having issues breathing and its 20'C inside
just sitting in soaked clothing all day
tfw 27'C according to weather next monday... jfc
more like a lack of sweating
Bro wtf
Anyone know of good speakers preferably usb compatible and dual like these
I prefer 27c
Creative Pebble 2.0
Two plugs are used. USB to power, aux to send sound.
lel, coldest days there are the hottest days here
Aestheticly wise they don’t look too great as just small balls tho

Huh?
this chat turning into a linus appreciation channel or smth
been up and down for now
This is the coldest may in a while
I wouldn’t get something just for sound I’d get something for sound and looks
Usually by now the temps have stabilized in the low and mid 20s
But yeah, the creative Pebble speakers are definitely good if you're on a budget
4-7 days heat wave > 1 day rainstorm > 2-3 days colder > repeat
I just spent $2500 on a brand new built myself pc
you can sometimes find klipsch promedia 2.1 open box for $50 on ebay in america
Budget isn’t in my vocabulary
if that was available i’d never recommend the pebbles
Western Canada had a record breaking heatwave meanwhile
but if you can’t get that deal pebbles are fine
Broke their may record highs
take a look at linus' pair
Is that a # ad
Bose Companion 2
I’ll look at Linus and ^
Why not?
Like bruh
Would these plug into monitor or usb to pc
Or somewhere else
Whats it gonna be?
You'll probably want to look into that because I'm unsure. Amazon says USB and aux tho
This was the west coast may heatwave
basically just 23-29 kinda range next week
very shortly tho thankfully
Especially for Vancouver
quick drop back to 19
The dream
Best temps
Add a lil humidity to it
terrible temps
I love em
we need -20 to 15 or smth
You know what I didn’t realize what I had I thought I needed an upgrade just because I had it since 2020
But I have razer nommo chromas
I think I’ll be alright, the one issue I have is where my pc is located, my left speaker is on the right and the right left
Wires won’t work othwrwise
ew razer
?
That’s what I thought too at firsr
What's wrong with Razer?
I bought everything razer in 2020 been slowly replacing with other stuff
Webcam used to be razer now it’s elgato
trash audio product creator
Mic razer now blueyeti
What
Bose are much better tho.
why lmao
But no rgb
Rotating color w
I believe you that Bose is better
But nothing wrong with a $200 razer
rgb pook
You using the Nommo?
Nommo chroma Ye
You're only gonna find cheap USB powered speakers. USB can only deliver a couple of watts to speakers, which is barely anything.
heat is unbearable
dont tell class A amp enjoyers
First watt f5 turbo moment.
you sure about that?
my class d made my room into a boiler room by itself
LMAO
Class A for headphone amps are irrelevant yeah
Like ambient power draw of 15-30 watts? No shit
class A for speakers... yea that's a heater fr
Ambient power draw of a 25 watts class A speaker amp is gonna be like 200 watts ish.
yeaaaaa
Wtf
Its around ~40’C in the summer where i live and its fine for me
what the fuck
Shirtless in fking -5
don't cells start dying at 45c
Are you crazy?
:/
Temperatures in a nearby place went upto 49’C
Last week
"Above a certain temperature, a cell will collapse and die. ... while E. coli withers above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit)."
"While human body cells start to die anywhere 46-60 degrees celsius, temperatures of around 50 degrees is when most irreversible damage to cells"
Internal temperature
As long as you drink enough water and cover your skin you’ll be okay
True
Klaus doesn't know what homeostasis is
People prolly died during that time tho coz overpopulated country moment
Is this 40c indoors or 40c outdoors
40C indoors and ~45 outdoors
Woof
Without a/c
Where is this? southeast Asia?
Yes
No thank you.
Only recently
Dont know how to put it in words
But basically unregistered citizens
Also
Are beats any good anymore?
Or they dead?
Modern beats are fine
I mean, the most popular wireless headphone is what, the xm4?
Fine!= Good
what are the best wireless headphones for sound under $100?
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Marantz-Professional-MPM-4000U-Microphone-USB/436568377?from=/search is this a good mic for under $100
Arrives by Thu, May 25 Buy Marantz Professional MPM-4000U - Microphone - USB at Walmart.com
Beats are better than they were, but still not good
bro my preferred outdoor temp is -15C to 10C
It's where I can wear anything and be comfortable
more than 10? I'm sweating
less than -15? I'm forced to wear at least a hoodie
?????
Klaus might be a lizard
humans were never meant to survive 24c
youre smoking crack big dog
there are nomad tribes in africa that still do exhaustion hunting by running prey until they collapse in 40c weather
This is a shitpost, right
bitter cold is substantially less hospitable than scorching heat for humans
24c is avg morning temperature here, like what
youve never been to a 24c place
if you had you wouldnt be here
I am looking at getting the AirPods Pro 2. Worth it or not?
Meh, I love snowboarding enough to not care
it do be fun
Anybody got recommendations for headphones around 50 dollars?
depends on your definition of worth
they are excellent
but only you can say whether they are worth it or not
if noise cancelling is important to you sure they’re good for that
Any suggestions for 2.1 speakers for my pc?
I've had these since like 2008 and they've taken a beating over time from moving and whatnot: https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/SPA7351_27/analogue-retail-version
I really like the bass/sub of this setup and would like to replace it with something of equal/better quality
Connect these multimedia speakers to any PC, MP3 or CD player and instantly create your own home stereo. The superb bass is easily adjustable and you can set-up the speakers on your desk or on the wall to get that perfect sound.
what's the budget?
Which should I buy the a4000 or dunu Titan s they both sound so similar to me
would be dead if it were like that longer than like a few hours at most
You?
yes, already having issues now and its 19 inside
Ok 😂
Im trying to get a headset for fps games like valorant these 4 kinda have what i want just dont know which is better :
1 - Steel Series Arctis 5
2 - Razer Blackshark v2
3 - Logitech G pro x
4 - HyperX cloud 2
If u have any other headset that is good and in same price range drop the name
cloud II about the only one
even the new box?
ppl saying new box cloud II is worst or smth
I mostly use headphones for better audio, so somewhere within the $100-300 range.
I'd be willing to spend more if the quality is better and you think they'll last me as long as my last set of speakers.
It's just nice to not always have to wear headphones and give my ears a break
pc37x
or pc38x
Do you really need a headset?
Translation: do you need a crappy/mediocre microphone directly attached to your headphones
yea i broke mine
yea.. dont wanna spend too much on my a mic only thing i will be saying is game stuff
my budget is like 130 or 140
Can get better headphones for less and mics for like 20 that beat headset mics
Have better sound and better mic for same cost
Well I didnt want to be rude
i got 1 just not working well
Which is why “do you need it directly attached”
for some reason i cant hear footsteps behind me'
Thats not a headphone problem
Thats a game audio problem
works fine with my brothers cloud ii
its just when i use this one
Are you using your brothers on your pc or his
Just something to consider assuming you look back here. Might be missing some setting on your pc, or drivers
On mine
I tested it so i can see if its good
you were asking for headphone advice before
there you have it
get the cloud 2
they are nice
if possible get pc37x and if you have more money then pc38x
tempting
Shitty cable
the cable is the iem itself basically
ive read it has a noisefloor at near max volume but i dont see that being a problem with sane volume listening
The cable is thick and stiff
as long as it isnt microphonic i dont think i will mind
i would prefer a standard cable but not much can be done about that
It's microphonic
new beats studio buds+ look like a better alternative to airpods pros

naw theyre worse
i like the transparent design tho thats cool
I wish they had a gold logo for the clear one tbh
I've got over 2k hours in CS:GO and the suggestion is to always ditch surround sound headphones
They manipulate the audio to make them sound "surround sound", but it distorts it and it makes it harder to place where sounds are coming from
Get a regular stereo headset. The HyperX Cloud Alphas are cheaper and the sound is better quality
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074NBSF9N
Unless you want to spend $300+ on a headset. If you want something better I'd recommend getting studio headphones and a separate mic. I use DT 770's and love them
HyperXTM Cloud Alpha's groundbreaking Dual Chamber Drivers design gives audio more distinction and clarity by reducing distortion. The dual chambers separate the bass for cleaner, smoother sound. Cloud Alpha has premium red memory foam, an expanded headband and softer, more pliable leatherette, a...

My workplace gives everyone HyperX Cloud 2's and I can tell you that they're much worse than the Alphas from personal experience
sennheiser pc37x, although all you need are a solid pair of $20 in ear monitors to have good game audio
something like the Tangzu Wan'er
every time I listen to a dt770 I cringe so hard
Why do you listen to a dt770
Bring your own headphones
I can't bring my open back headphones to work
and my denon ah-d5000 kill me if I listen too long
buying denons is like getting a mentally ill gf thinking you can fix her
you can't
imagine you just using your $300 IEMs and one of those cringe mofos cuts the cord and gives you airpods
Imagine thinking that's real
obv not
why does ppl not like the G pro x even tho i saw alot of streamers use it?
cause its trash
So getting a cloud alpha or cloud 2 is much better?
Sennheiser
Lo siento
also is the arctis series good?
imagine not having detachable cables on IEMs
streamers and pros use a lot of shitty gear because they're sponsored or dont know any better
being good at a game doesnt mean you know how the gear you're using works
i had a hyperX cloud stinger core or smth it was mid asf but still useable so i kinda feel good going with hyperX its just werid that ppl overhyper the pro series and the only good thing is the mouse
whered you get that picture of conpin
its obv not conpin, theres no glass of olive oil
it's on the desk you just cant see it in the picture
you prob right
looks far diff from me anyway
thats literally you
you wish
it's quite literally you conpin
not a balding 40 year old
here, idc
im just fucking with u dawg
ik
I've been using headphones wrong my whole life.
I am now enlightened.
Are we posting our faces 💀
If it's under $300 and it's surround sound, it's not good quality
Sorry if this is the wrong chat, but does anyone know of a good auto metadata tool?
My dumbass forgot itunes doesn't support FLAC, so I tried WAV and lost it all lmfao
Eh fuck it I’m just gonna rip the discs again as AAC
dont expose me
ALAC is open source right
you can get non mentally ill girlfriends?
Have you heard of roon
The metadata features looked really good
I'm already re-ripping into ALAC
apple loser audio codec

Thoughts on focal elex
💩
@lean grove @molten lotus @dry stratus did u guys see the new hifiman ananda nano and arya organic?
nope
14ohm ananda with susvara inspired driver
🤔
Why do several IEMs with multiple drivers sound like the sound is stepping on itself
maybe it is
what iems r u listening to
in theory having more driver types is good but it has to be executed well
do multiple driver iems have crossovers
i would assume so because that would let them have more precise tuning
you can’t get moondrop variations frequency response with a single dynamic driver for example
(without eq)
I play valorant occasionally, my recommendations are the Tangzu Wan'er
over ear headsets for fps games is stupid
iems with foam tips are OP for gaming
I like em but some hate it.
people consider it a metallic HD600
it just looks like it would sound boring at best
IMO it's not worth the price hike over the HD600
Most of the issues I had were with acoustunes
do you know which ones? i’ve never looked at acoustunes
I only know acoustune for being ugly asf
i wanna stick my nose in the product page
All of them
I tried them at a shop in Singapore
I tried probably 6 different pairs
all of the random acoustune iems i can find measurements for look dogshit so that’s not surprising
Good to know
Some people consider it to be inferior to a HD600, it just better slam in the bass, but it can sound pretty metallic in the treble, and Focal's customer service and QC arent good
If you do go for them I would be careful
And always see if you can try them first
Though I dont think any stores carry elex, its drop exclusive
straight up not worth buying
love it or hate it sort of thing
demo it if you can
Yeah. My unreliable source says the Arya organic is just a normal Arya stealth with wood
Which I low-key kinda want
they have no business being that pretty
i think frequency response will be similar but they wont be identical because they seem to be using different internals
hopefully it doesn’t take ages for people to measure them
Well frequency response being similar is kinda given for hifiman
Is the arya any good
buy me one and i’ll let you know
1299 hell naw
it’s basically an ananda/xs but not built like crap
and with more linear bass extension
idk mate edition xs is sm better than ananda
other than comfort, idk why hifiman still uses that mf
the problem with cans like that is you look like an absolute twit wearing them lol
The way you solve that is by letting people know how much they cost
"yeah I paid two months rent on these"
hahah
i have a pair of fostex th900's, and a pair of emu-teaks, and i use the teak's 99% of the time
the fostex's sit in a drawer
are they better than the emu's...yeah. Noticeably? not enough for me to risk breaking them in some way.
Similar driver. Similar sound.
yep
i had a pair of beyerdynamic t5p's, wasnt a fan.
returned them
neutral sounds tinny to me so ive always been more of a basshead
I haven't liked any of the high end beyers I've tried. 1990, was passable but the t1 and omiron less so.
yeah, one of my mates has the sennheiser 980's or whatever they are, and i was like "this is nice, but not thousand dollar nice, id rather get a closed or semi closed basshead can, or speakers since my entire house can hear on open cans like those.
@lean grove do you have chese
I've got shredded Mexican
how much
Probably about 200 grams.
can you eat it all at once
that's nuts
are they organic nano noodles?
They're Korean cold noodles
Who wears these out
I do
teaks are hella underrated tbh
they really are.
insane deal really.
thousand dollar sound for half the price.
i use an element II for my amp/dac
i have a schiit stack, it also just sits in a drawer. I was unimpressed.
Fun
back of an avr?
all the ports
90% of which are useless
I do like mine but sadly they seem to have Quality issues over the entire range of headphones according to Igor.
https://www.igorslab.de/en/beyerdynamic-dt-700-pro-x-im-langzeit-test-wie-man-seinen-ruf-mit-billigen-komponenten-unnoetig-runiert/
And I hope they get that fixed. It happened to my 880 Pro after like 2 years of use which I thought was still okay but apparently isn't.
Honestly my favourite headphones I ever had are the dt 770 pro
Can multipoint Bluetooth function playback audios from two separate devices simultaneously? Is there any earbuds that can do that? So far I only know some headsets can playback audios from two devices simultaneously because the two devices are connected to the headphone through different protocols, one Bluetooth and one 2.4ghz rf.
burn it
"fun headphones like amiron home"
"high end headphones (T1, T90)"
burn it all
MacAddress video timing was perfect with when i asked for earbuds lol
But they didnt say whether there are any other better ones 💀
feel like those new beats they reviewed aren't actually better, but idk
would have to wait for someone that knows what they're talking about to review/measure them and compare to the airpods pro 2 on "how overkill is the bass?"
What headphones have you had
LMAO
Holy shit
DT770 is just a cheaper HD820 according to its FR
dips around the same regions
Either they have VERY weird tastes, or they have never listened to a good headphone
is it a review from 2015 or smth?
could maybe say it is fine if he only used closed back and back when many of the current options weren't a thing
closed back used to basically have nothing, either crappy consumer stuff or m50x/dt770
It still basically has nothing
Theres what like four viable options?
more than 0
K361 and k371 helps a lot for the lower end options
cal was basically the only option ig
otherwise it was koss on ears with no isolation or open backs with no isolation
and an IEM market that had yet to release 99.99% of the budget options
damn she wearing the meze 99
the days where all I saw recommended was like KSC75, KPH30i, porta pro, cal, DT880, HD6x0
there are rich high schoolers in anime using HD800
really?
saw one once
this isn't an anime tho
Bad headphones lol
it is drawn, so ofc
just wanted to mention
the sound stage was pretty good on the 99 but the tonality was awful
Basically nice looking beats headphones
nah beats sound better
I want to try 99 + darkvoice + denafrips ares
muddy dark headphones + muddy dark tube amp + warm dac
wonder how it would sound
that looks like akg
Another mid headphone
technically not an anime:
i remember seeing porta pros in a manga
Thats less suprising, given how common portapros are
Yup
I have the k361 and I prefer my dt770 pro over them
Also out of the iems I’ve tried the cca cra are my favourite aswell
DT770 still worse tho
even when you prefer them (which isn't bad, just use what you enjoy in the end... better off never joining audiophile communities for your wallet)
i can see why someone would prefer them for sure
I use them because I enjoy them I love that they are bassy and v shaped
That's just a placebo
that’s what i dislike about it also
ignoring the hole at 200hz the bass and mids are actually good
The mids being good is also a placebo
😹
For me the next iem I want to buy is either the dunu Titan s or a4000 I can’t decide which to buy
if you want that style of tuning then grab the tangzu wan’er
Listening to them in a a/b test I can barely hear a difference
smoother frequency response than both of those and it’s $17
like 9db over target around 8k 🤔
I don’t care about target and I’m more caring about build quality
no point in good build quality if you can't use it and will be sitting in a closet all day
why would you not care about how they sound
That’s the point in good build quality
you wear iems to hear things not to feel how quality they are
I care a bit that’s why I’m picking between these two
good build quality only matters if you use it
EQ could help obvs, but if its too bright to listen to so you take it out and just put it to the side, what's the point
in my experience $150 iems are no more well built than $20 ones
I’m rough with stuff that’s why I want to switch stuff because I’m tired of my cca cra breaking
what part is breaking with your cca
they just keep throwing it down a cliff maybe, idk
The iem itself
i don’t know how you could break them aside from crushing them or static discharging
they have that classic KZ build quality
which no iem is safe from regardless of build quality
don't feed your dogs your IEMs?
all the more reason to use cheaper iems
They tend to jump up and yank them out of my ear
they’re better tuned than the two you picked anyway
wouldn't yanking them out, no matter what the IEM's material is
at some point just destroy the connector
Idk
i’m surprised i haven’t broken the connections on my fiio utws5
also, why not just not put the cables on the floor
i have to rip the 3.5mm adapters off with real force
and i’ve done it like 100 times
it’s only a matter of time i reckon
I also like the look of the dunu Titan s
A4000 is still just ABS plastic anyway, lol
What plastic is the cca cra made out of?
if you think metal will hold up better the moondrop aria is metal
it’ll probably be uncomfortable to sleep with though
Moondrop Lan is also metal
probably polycarbonate
Honestly the most comfortable in ears I’ve ever used to sleep are the airpods pros
Hands down, it’s not even close
i think it's fairly popular to use those for sleeping with the noise cancelling
ive never worn them before myself
Yea I wear them on the ship with noise playing to block out the popping and creaking
Over the last 8 years nothing comes close in terms of comfort laying down
I use the AirPods Pro 2 but they don’t have as good of noise cancelling as the wh-1000xm5
That’s what the noise is for
I wouldn't be able to sleep with sound on earphones/headphones
not like I feel like doing it even if I could, because I end up upside down in bed a lot when I wake up
It’s just dark noise
you do not want to be near me when I sleep
Whelp if you move that much when you sleep, probably wouldn’t be allowed to sail anyway
terrible sleep quality but ehh
you don't wake up with your head at the other side and the pillow thrown across the room?
No
Is the call quality with bluetooth mic bad on airpods pro 2 like the gen 3?
yes, bluetooth mic quality is always bad
when you use bluetooth for both input and output it runs out of bandwidth and sounds like butt
You’ll get better mic quality out of a $5 gas station headphone
Assuming it has a mic on the cable
👍
I found that out
Just asked to make sur
Hey all. I'm talking to some low-voltage people about filling out a house we're building, and we're looking at how to drive some speakers in various rooms. They default to Sonos amps everywhere, and that does seem sufficient, but that's $700 per. It feels like there's gotta be a cheaper way to do this
I'd love to hear about something that would drive speakers that I could cast to
a brand that really does ask like 2-3x for the aesthetic
no idea about other options, I can just guarantee that there is gonna be cheaper
Is there a receiver/amp brand that you've liked?
I don't use speakers
Headphones?
headphone user yes
much different power requirements and doesn't use receivers
other than HE6, susvara, etc that actually are used on speaker amps
not something I own tho...
its either 6000$ headphone or a very rare headphone
Pretty tricky. I doubt you're gonna find much help here. You want to find some pro AV forums or servers. Most people here just know a bit about consumer tech if you're lucky.
Fair. Thanks
pro AV forums can have a different meaning
not "what do you think it means" just "what else it can mean if you take it out of context"
i’m only familiar with audio video
people asking for headphone recommendations in the comment section
lmfao
wait @molten lotus how did you find out its not a manga

What is the best headset I can get for 150 or under does not need a microphone I just want something that does not have static 24/7
Hd560s and a dongle

What you need to buy a dongle for
Actually I would recommend a zen dac and salnotes zero and a usb mic of your choice I use a fifine because cheap
Motherboard audio is bad and most phones don't have headphone jacks
Dude the salnotes zero are amazing for $20
they’re ight
With how varied the IEM market is, you can probably get better at the 150USD pricepoint. I personally don't have much experience with IEMs though since I only have one pair and I much prefer on-ears and over-ears, so I don't really have any good recommendations.
what an input
there aren’t that many iems around $150 worth buying that i know of, it’s mostly $15-70 and $450+
I see, so that pricepoint is largely diminishing returns for IEMs?
if you’re getting a budget iem with a single driver inside they’re all basically the same thing and it isn’t worth paying a premium for nearly identical tuning with slight build differences
there are a gazillion $15-25 iems with various tunings
That reminds me of one thing I do know with IEMs, it's best to avoid KZ, they have poor crossovers that lead to their IEMs all having a very similar sound, even if there is a difference in the number of drivers.
What is a pretty good mic then for discord use
fifine 669 and 683 are pretty good
If it's just for Discord, a cheap lavaliere mic will be sufficient
If you've got one lying around somewhere, Sony Singstar microphones are pretty good for some strange reason. (The wired ones, I have no idea how the wireless ones sound)
Minimum hissing
Meh there is a HUGE difference between wan'er and the zero
The wan'er are quite a bit bossier than the zero. The zero have better detail but on bass head tracks the wan'er sound fuller and deeper
did you use the same eartips and volume match them
Yes
But I do have strange ear canals and the wan'er like to sit deeper but the zeros fit better.
The zero do have much much more detail
sitting deeper could explain the bass difference
It's why I mentioned it.
zero having more detail is probably from them having more 8khz+
zero sound a little weird to me and i can never seem to isolate it with eq
might be that
I do end up grabbing the zero more often. But the wan'er have the mic on a cable so those are now my work meeting earbuds.
i wish graphs weren’t so compressed after 10khz, response differences up there can make huge soundstage and perceived detail differences
All any one really cares about is bass mids and the vocal range
i don’t look forward to losing hearing with age
I am 40 and I still have sensitivity to highs.
how high up can you hear before it starts to roll off
i’m trying to find a reputable research paper on this
all that pulls up are garbage ad filled articles with varying results
this better not be accurate
I was able to hear up to 19khz recently. But that was on Astros haven't tried with a good pair yet.
But I can hear the ultrasonic clicks from those pest repellent machines and from ultrasound machines.
Well I was 38 when I did the test.
What if that's what's causing the increase in autism? Getting ultra sounded as a fetus and your brain just goes "nahuh I ain't interested in the outside world"

my audio suddenly started crackling. My current setup is Computer -> generic usb-b cable -> CXN v2 -> monoprice RCA's -> WA2. It's 100% the USB, when i play using the streamer (ie not via usb) no crackling. and it only happens sometimes. THis wasn't a problem before but suddenly is, idk what changed? What can i do?
would the audioquest usb cable help? it appprently has good measurements w.r.t shielding according to a dude in SBAF.
Need some advice here. My friend is getting a new mic soon, and he is letting me decide which one he should get. His ideal price range is less than 200 bucks. He would prefer a condenser mic. He only plans on using it for streaming/content creation. He is in an untreated space, but since he does not plan to do voice over work, Im pretty sure we can just add some filters to mitigate that. At the moment, Im thinking about the lct 240 pro, but I came here to ask for any other opinions.
7zh zero ... as in 7hz salnote zero that is about 30 $ cad ?
between that and the truthear hola which one would you go for ?
i have the chu and it feels like they are missing something
what do you feel they are missing
imo it's a bit veiled
instrument separation is not the best
lack details
frequency target is nice tho ... so something sounding like that more or less but with more details and better instrument separation I guess
the frequency response determines separation and details with iems so you may need to try something differently tuned
or try different eartips
I don't really like the silicon ones that came with them ... changed them for foam tips ...
maybe with some more premium silicone tip
anything you could recommend ?
my favorite tips were the smallest size of dekoni foam eartips but they can be uncomfortable after a while
you could try playing with oratory1990’s eq settings to see if you like them
I'll keep that in mind thanx
anyway ... back to my original question, which one would you suggest between the zero and the hola ?
salnotes zero and chu are going to be pretty similar
ok
i had to clarify you meant the salnotes and not the truthear zero
truthear zero is a bit different
this could be a good option to try if youre looking for something different
truthear zero is the one tuned with crinacle ... a bit more expensive
it is a little more expensive yeah but i dont want you to get stuck buying a bunch of $20 iems that all sound the same
yeah indeed
crystal light with caffeine wild strawberry
sounds like a drink ... lol
sounds good to me
it is pretty good
the important par is caffeine
absolutely
sony linkbuds s similar to the air pod pros 2, in sound quality? im deciding which one to get
I hate how all those kinda drinks and foods are going for things like "90% fewer calories!!"
me: "90% harder to not die!!!"
there you go conpin
I am missing context. Why are we showing the Demon Core?
just use the speakers built into your monitor for a week and then go back to your headphones
itll be bliss
headphones
American moment
I don't see bags of rice saying fewer calories!!!
@upper marten get galaxy buds 2, way better than raycons and they are available at around the same price (depending on where you get them from)
so they remove build a pc cause it goes off topic and now this happens
Ok thx
this.
fifine k688 or the Tonor TD510
i want something that sounds podcasty/ compressed
then use a compressor
wouldn’t a dynamic mic be better?
was thinking of getting the presonus revelator dynamic, but i came across some videos about the k688, am8 and the TD510
so, i've been looking into USB cables and how they affect sound, reading thru forum posts etc. obviously it's a hotly contested topic...and here's what i've settled on, what do y'all think. (note, i'm not an engineer, and my knowledge of sound and E&M physics isn't great either): in an ideal situation cable wouldn't make a difference, but i think most people have less than ideal setups, desks full of all kinds of EM noise, "noisy" computers, listening to music whilst doing other stuff of course. And most people just use whatever USB cable they have lying around, that isn't well shielded etc. My theory is that, there are some people whose situation in terms of noise and so on is bad enough to lightly affect music (in a way that isn't obvious but you can tell something is wrong, can't really pinpoint to it most of the time cuz it's subtle) and what upgraded cables give them is just cleaning up the signal and the removal of timing issues, crackles and pops etc make the sound so much better than it sounds like all kinds of things "bass is tighter" or "improved soundstage" whereas what really happened is the picture just got cleaned up a bit. It's like going from a bad HDMI cable to a well specced one and describing the difference by saying how it improved picture definition and more pop to the color.
You can put a compressor on a dynamic mic.
It's software
and, really, a dynamic mic and a condenser mic arent gonna make a whole lot of a difference
Aftermarket USB cables seem to be all the rage with people paying as much as $15,000 for a short run of it!!! Lots of subjective performance reports are out there but none back with any objective measurements that demonstrates any difference. On the other side of the fence many believe there...
you can see that they can really affect jitter if they're long and cheap
yea i read thru that thread actually. but i know a lot of ppl are still non believers, bad cables are def. bad however, and there's SO MANY bad cables.
Note: AmazonBasic USB-B is pretty bad at least at 1.8m
¯_(ツ)_/¯
doesnt really matter
most people i dont think are getting terrible cables
the ones that come with dacs should usually be up to spec, unless we see some measurements
ooh interesting. Also good dacs can clean up bad signals? didn't know that
i think that might be the buffer's doing
or maybe just having a decent usb controller or w/e
i dont really know what would make one dac better over another
but usually when asr does dac measurements they show jitter
🤔
i think the subjective stuff ppl are seeing is just the cleaned up signal which SEEMS like all those subjective things
nah. id bet that 90% of the subjective stuff people notice about a better usb cable is probably just in their head.
i just swapped out USB cables from yesterday and i really want to say it tightened bass and clean up the cut-off at the high end (obvs it didn't, the bad cable was just doing all that)
How are the epos h6 pro closed?
you know if anything i'd think a bit of jitter would make people think there was more soundstage
In a previous post we had an encounter with jitter in audio. The talk about jitter is hard to miss these days. There are plenty of products on the mar...
Does anyone have any knowledge about whether the Sony XM5s are worth the extra money compared to the XM4s?
is steel series sonar any good?
Go for the Sennheisers
I think usb c will reduce even that.
I have had much better jitter and sound floor with a usb c to b.
560s hands down better.

would the sony xm5s be good headphones for using on games?
or should i stick to my razer nari
or switch over to my brothers steel series arctis 7P+
or should i just get different headphones
there might be noticable latency if you want to use the xm5 for gaming
@next scroll frankly, i would say focus on the game first
good headphones are important when im mostly playing val at high elo
so im not sure which headphones to use
Sennheiser hd560s
Theoretically sennheiser hd800s
Realistically probably ksc75's and a good dac.
oh interesting, i just assumed jitter would sound like weird timing issues (like notes wouldn't decay as well, you'd have tightness become loose etc)
i have no idea what was causing the wierdness in the highs though, it was almost like a really bad roll off in the high notes
no clue what those mean
I made a decision. I think detail is 100% my end game so thank you fucks for giving me advice and taking me on this journey but I am aiming for the following:

And

The headphones are pretty set. The dac is pretty set The amp is negotiable (dac too)

Inno is famous for being incomprehensible and talking in riddles
i have no clue about anything about audio and stuff
Ksc75 is the broke bitch sound stage king. And look in to a zen dac.
Just get the hd560s. They're wired, but they're gonna be the best headphones for gaming that's realistically affordable.
Rip
Yeah the bot is pretty annoying
It happens you get used to it.
money isnt the problem, its part of a make-a-wish that im getting
💀
Uhhh. Hd800 then.
But 560s is gonna be easier to work with
Well shit then see my above post. 2k in audio gear.
ok thats too much
money isnt the problem but it also is
cant go over roughly 10,000 CAD
and i have a pc planned for like 7-8k rn
Just get the 560s.
That or the audeze Maxwell if it's in stock
It's got more bells and whistles and is more gamery.
And that to plug the headphones into
Just say no to mobile audio
Mobo not mobile.
Ok. So your motherboard audio is notoriously noisy and poorly processed.
Getting an external dac avoids this issue
Zen is a goto recommendation for this type of product
And on top of that 7-8k for a pc is overkill
Unless you are including a $2000 monitor
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, GeForce RTX 4090, Corsair iCUE 7000X RGB ATX Full Tower
No
def not the final thing, but a rough idea
No just no
Gimme a sec
7000 amd cpus currently ha e a detonation issue
That is as yet unsolved.
should i go for the intel i9 13th gen?
unless you need that kind of compute power ... I would say no
13700k would do good for less money
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Radeon RX 6950 XT, Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower
Ray tracing is the only lack but you said competitive val sooooo
well val isnt the only game i play, but it is the main one
Best bang for the buck and 5k cheaper
It'll do everything and also has the world's best monitor
Monitor?
yeah
Fuck no that's a quantum dot oled
again no clue what that means
