Lmao
I have a ton of 4k blurays
i havent bothered switching to HDR downloads because im the only one in my house with hdr-capable displays
hdr support on xbox is…bad
is it pirating if a lot of it you can't get otherwise?
Nintendo is kinda stupid
Nintendo when people stream their games with permission
nintendo: shuts down their online game shops
also nintendo when people pirate games they literally cant buy anymore:

making crappy ads, and nuking the people actually making others want to buy it
Nintendo thinks they’re reputation can survive off of ads only with no one making vids
i mean it can
they don't realize streamers/youtubers is likely 80% of their sales after just nintendo shills
the nintendo switch was extremely popular and switch youtube isnt really a big medium as far as i know
ads don't do shit...
they are just painful and obnoxious
"MOM!!, LOOK AT MARIO OUTSIDE"
someone in a mario suit sitting in a children's kart: vrooooom
"buy mario kart now!!!"
Lol
most ads are like that
nintendo if they could:
just obnoxious screeching children
bring back nintendo addicting ad
This is a Gameboy Micro commercial. The GameBoy Micro was released in September 19, 2005 which retailed for $99.99 and later on price came down.
id love to see what nintendo could do if they keep the nintendo switch form factor but give it better hardware
this thing
They cant leave it
It was revolutionary
Anything else will be a downgrade in features
i dont see how they could ever make something better in terms of design
it's a handheld and a stationary console
they dont need to make a ds ever again
yeah the resolution of the 3ds is horrendous
but if you emulate 3ds games at 4k on a pc theyre surprisingly detailed and beautiful
I mean...
make the dock like an eGPU
they can do that in a much simpler way
they can just make it an amd ryzen APU that draws 15w in handheld and 45w while docked
what I hated most about 3DS resolution was things like faces and eyes literally doubling in size every second
because passing over other pixels
1080p60 handheld 1440p120 or 4k60 docked
wouldn't be able to because of cooling in that size
needs to be external to not thermal throttle
They would charge $600
or require a larger device
upgrade docks exist
the dock can function as a heatsink if the rear of the switch is metal
and it can have a fan on it
but 45w handhelds are absolutely possible asus is releasing one soon
It would cost $600 and not be upgradeable, its Nintendo
we aren't exactly talking about an XBOX or Playstation competitor
Nintendo is to xbox and playstation what apple is to windows...
you either want apple/nintendo or you don't
its not really a competitor in terms of hardware
yah but the switch is still due for a hardware upgrade
its old and graphical issues so yes
they probably got a deal with nvidia
who had a massive oversupply of those old shitty gpus
and nintendo was like ill take them off your hands for cheap
How does your own software for your own console lag
It was due for one when it launched tbh
which ended up working in their favor because it let them release a $300 hybrid console
It can’t handle joycons and bluetooth headphones at the same time
5 year olds dont care if the game is 720p 30fps
imagine them using a snapdragon chip (personally think snapdragon makes dogshit chips)
<insert wojack reaction>
Damn Nintendo tried making a court order insuring that joycon drift doesn’t exist
Imagine they toss an M1 in there

Instead of fixing the problem they tried to have a fucking court say its not real
supposedly apple silicon handles emulation pretty well
dolphin emulator has a native arm version with support for Metal API
ive been meaning to try it on my macbook
20 fps in super mario world
The switch is arm as well so
cant remember the name of the switch emulator but switch joycons work wirelessly with a macbook too
Iirc joycons are just bluetooth right?
The only game that runs at 60fps is mario kart
idk
And yea the drift is atrocious
Both my partner’s and my switches drifted and we don’t play much
Have maybe 200 hours on each console
i assumed they used a proprietary 2.4ghz connection so thered be no latency
and so they could connect instantly
They def have bad latency 😞
bluetooth should just be gone by now
No?
It’s low power
way too many issues
have them make something that isn't 250-500ms latency
and keeps getting f'ed up with noise
Like airpods do without issue? Over bluetooth?
on iOS only
aptx adaptive works pretty well but it requires proprietary hardware
just like apple's aac does
the universal bluetooth standards suck
Bluetooth on PC is 🤮
That’s window’s fault tbh
works fine if you have a bluetooth transmitter
because it bypasses the operating system handling bluetooth entirely
they just get treated as a wired connection
True but I only have 2 available usb ports 😞
how are you using so many?
I only have 3 total
my usb are all populated too :p

you using a modern laptop?
One is permanently taken by the logitech lightspeed dongle
I use 3 USB ports
schiit modi, schiit modius, mouse dongle, keyboard, mic interface, bluetooth transmitter
cable to charge my mouse when it dies
why modi when modius
usb c occupied to charge my vape batteries
i have my modi/iemagni stack setup too for iems
single ended on magnius sucks
plus id have to disable my eq every time i plugged iems in
having separate dacs is convenient
Yea that too
I have a modi/magni but use a questyle
just build a PC with that ugly asrock mbo
i dont have my speakers setup rn but if i did id have 3 dacs
livemixer
the disgusting mbo
good motherboard from what ive heard
just ugly af
eh who cares computers are tools
i look at my pc like 4 times a year to clean it and that's it
I just have sony core speakers running through a 7.2 receiver
avr on a pc? based
Nah just living room
i was using this to power some bookshelves but i put it on my tv setup instead
Tubes
I am seriously thinking about trying to get back into consumer audio
convenience of not needing 5 billion wires
don't work
ive seen some eartips that were extremely small
I've tried all eartips at this point
doesn't go deep enough anyway
give me the etymotic eartips but XXS size while same depth
those have got to feel freaky
everything I wear in some way needs to be long and thin
shirts, pants, earphones, etc
cotton swab iems
yes
@dry stratus do you have that boom boom pow?
that rock and roll?
that future flow?
that future boom boom boom?
did you drink?
naw i was referencing an old pop song
whats the general consensus on financing audio gear
rob family
real
Don’t
Don’t finance shit you don’t need
figured
just buy HE1
i just have trouble rationalizing the big number leaving my bank account
What’re you looking at?
not even that big of a number tbh, was looking at a sm7b. well within my budget it just hurts my soul spending money on a new mic when i still haven't gotten rid of the ones i dont use anymore
i just like having good sounding audio
Holy shit $400 mic
You’re gonna need a boom arm, and a pop filter
i have 3
why
an overpriced mic according to most here at least
i make music but have been told on several different occasions in very different environments that i should get into voice over work. my voice is a little deep and many dynamic mics that roll off the lows around 50-70hz have this unpleasant resonance that i usually have to EQ out. I noiced my sm58 doesn't have this issue and was thinking of upgrading to the 7b
the 7b would be used for voice over, i have access to a pretty decent studio for music
get into improving your voice they maybe meant?
I mean, sort of is based on what you said
I mean, record your own voice and listen to it
what you hear yourself is different from what others hear
personally hate my voice
doesn't really fit what I look like often
tho if you wanted to you could train your voice and speak differently ig
especially when you have no human contact basically ever
anyways, back to financing. my brother financed his tv and his gpu and hasn't had any issues. the mic is within my budget so keeping up on payments isn't a concern. my main concern is that i dont have much (if any) credit. im still kinda young and am still figuring out banking
can't use one if i dont have one
I do own a credit card
but its just for foreign stuff...
credit card not supported here anyway
ic
unless I go to airport or smth
sm7b will make you sound even more muddy and bassy
become morgan freeman
if you want to emulate what a sm7b would sound like it's pretty easy to do with eq since you already own a sm58
i like the muted sound of it, but you're probably right
you can take the pop filter off and follow a youtube video
With this little trick you can turn your SM57 into an SM7B.

you should become a singer
ive considered taking off the pop filter because it gives an sort of unnatural, boxy sound to my recordings, but im afraid of damaging it 😅
if you managed to kill a sm5x microphone id be shocked
Michael becomes singer > marries some ugly merican popstar
theres videos online of people running them over with trucks and theyre fine
ive heard they're the nokia's of microphones
they are which is why theyre used for presidential speeches
theyre almost impossible to break
give me god tier lav mic instead (only type of mic I would get)
theyre obviously not immune to static or water but you can quite literally run them over
with a bicycle you mean?
with a truck
what kind of truck
pickup truck
merican kind of truck or actual trucks
american pickup truck
the small ones
f150
how about this tho
idk youll have to try it out
too big and can't speak any language worth getting a mic for
god I hate the dutch language so much...
what's wrong with it
too many rules
Gggggg
That have exceptions
writing dutch especially...
feels like I am trying to estimate the standing of the moon in 3 decades just to find out if I need a D or T
It’s not that hard
too much, not worth
is the fifine k688 a good mic?
ye
does a 5000$ lav mic exist
idk
probably
if it does youre being scammed
as it goes in the microphone world
i can see someone using $5000 worth of equipment to connect and power a lav mic
but the lav itself? thatd be wild
why do mics have to be so big
more surface area to capture your voice with reasonable self noise and frequency response
I want to hear you sing some overly happy kpop song
i dont listen to kpop
same
Japanese pop is closest, but its basically pop rock
I just want to hear you sing like some little girl
seems like it would be funny
Wtf
what?
I'm in a more noisy environment so wouldn't a dynamic mic be better?
Depends, if you cant treat it at all whether it be because its like a living room or cause you cant afford it then yeah, but generally if you can treat your room, condenser is better
probably not better in a meaningful way
mic technique and setting gain properly is more important than what type of capsule you have
Real way to go is supercardioid condensers
tight pattern condensers are based
Honestly, for a condenser the earthworks ethos is bad, typically you go for condenser for more detail and less of that broadcast sound but thats what the ethos sounds like
Although compared to dynamics its amazing
most condenser mics have a treble boost
i believe the ethos is flat or even slightly recessed in some regions
most dynamics too tbf, just most consumer oriented audio gear in general
yeah ethos has a little scoop at 5-6k that might make it sound softer
Like I find Ethos to be too warm for a condenser, but compared to popular dynamics like the sm7b its great
yeah thats fair
but i agree id take ethos over sm7b every time
I havent listened to them in a while but I think the re20 just barley beats the ethos for me
Mainly for its variable D
ive heard the re20 can be nasally for some voices
but it's probably my favorite dynamic
Generally what I found is if the re20 is nasally for your voice, then the re320 is the way to go
Same, the only reason I didnt go through with swapping my sm7b with an re20 is cause i make A LOT of micro adjustments with my mic and even with the shock mount the re20 would’ve been bad for that
u be fiddlin with it
My earbuds go up to 110db 💀
you sure?
No

i dont have enough money to it
So im trying to use vb-cable so my voice i just optimized in OBS also goes f.e through Discord, but it doesnt
i did it like in this tutorial
https://youtu.be/G1VzeT9t24Y
look at the last part
he opens OBS and under audio --> advanced --> monitoring devices you select the vb-cable
in discord you do this under the input
the thing is that when I do this i cant hear myself through OBS, nor from discord
no mic sounds come through
tried to get help on his own discord
no lazy ass mf responded
so i hope i can rely on this server
pls help

please do not get m50x
why
mediocre garbage
ah idk
Hello guys, I recently hooked a 5.1 home theatre to my pc, and now the surround sound is messed up. My gaming monitor doesnt support ARC. Is there an alterantive?
Right now I am using an AUX cable to connect it to my pc and it doesnt sound soo well.
Leave the mediocre out and its accurate
has multiple issues with its sound
no reason to get it anyway
its usable
but its pretty mediocre, especially for its price (its 150-180 here, lol)
The only good thing I can say about it compared to its same price rivals is its better build quality
im not looking it from 150$
im looking 2nd hand
same price with k361
like 80$
Does your pc/monitor support digital audio out/in?
k361
That’s the problem
It doesn’t, no ARC
No optical either in my mobo
Sorry, optical digital out* my bad
Should be a square hole with a flap
Most new tvs had it, my b350 mobo had it too years ago
My AV doesnt have it
Its quite old, 8+ years I suppose
B460M DS3H - Mobo
I do see a Coaxial thingy with Antenna written under it on my AV, i am not sure if its that optical digital
Audiophile Headset or Gaming Headset or Studio Headsets? Do these even matter in gaming? I want a comfortable listening experience, that I can wear for long hours (10-12 hours). Price is not an issue
I just want the best, that I can use for everything: gaming, music, and also in gaming consoles
do you need a mic?
if not, id recommend hd600, very light, comfortable, open back
tho 300 ohm impedance means you need an amp to drive it, even just a cheap one
gamings are shit
i used so many gaming headsets
the only gaming headset that worth getting is those with unique traits
mh751 and mh752 is better in some reasons
for example, that razer one have cooling gel and haptic, which is pretty cool
or the asus one which does have 7 real drivers in each earcup which can use for surround sound
i dont like kraken v3, it has muddy bass and mid-high weighted
blackshark is ok
but not the v2 pro or v2 x
Accha another question: how to calculate in sound volumes in decibels?
you mean theta 7.1?
yeah, i own one , tho doesnt use it
just think its cool but its too heavy and uncomfortable to wear
Like, my current headset can give upto 110db (not really), so Im considering 110db as 100% of sound volume
I want to achieve, around 80db, so how should I calculate it? (since db is logarithmic and percentage is linear)
i mean its not that much heavier than my current lcd x, at around 530 i believe, but the ergo is really bad
yeah gaming ehadset in general arent worth anything
unless its developed by audiopile company and just add boom mic to exist product
Like the pc38x
Or 300r
yep
Only gaming headset I would go for is nova pro wireless for it’s amazing features
Like the dock so it can be used with mixers and the hot swappable battery
It even has a decent rating by DMS
.
It really depends on whatever source you're using. Your best bet for actual results is to buy a db meter and use some cardboard to seal it into your headphones.
Thank you
My HyperX Cloud headphones from 2016 need replacement: PU leather is coming off the caps, soft-touch plastics are sticky, and even the braided cable is stiff (I tried to wash it with soapy water - no, it's not the grease). Other than that, I really liked how they sound, and the mic is okay-ish. They're got a 15-25000 Hz range, 60 Ohm impedance, with 53 mm drivers.
What are good models in about 100-150 USD range? I need them to come with 3.5 mm jack, >2 m cable and a microphone with physical shut-off button. I've looked at some SteelSeries model
Well tbh, if you liked how they sound then I would recommend getting another pair, unless you are curious about jumping into the (eventually expensive) audiophile community
@white gate wanna deal with this?
I think for starters, I'd like to jump of 'gamer' brands. But Cloud's are the best pair of headphones I ever had. Used some Roccat's ones before (utter garbage), cheapo Chinese brands, etc. In games like CS:GO I definitely heard enemy much, much better than before. And they are fine for music I listen (but I don't listen in headphones, usually).
My first recommendation then would probably be the pc38x, its made by drop and sennheiser so an audiophile company and its mic doesn’t have an off button but turns off when you flip it up. Also only has an impedance of 32ohms so anything will drive it
Although warning, it is open back which will be better for soundstage and imaging but will leak audio and let audio in
do i plug my goxlr into my gaming pc via usb or to my streaming pc
did I just read someone using gaming headsets come in here and didn't say like "I want to go from alright to krakens/steelseries" ??
Their problem is they want an audiophile headset with a mic that turns on and off for $150 or less
Theres already very little audiophile headphones with mics period
the on and off button can be done with a keyboard shortcut
The thing is, sometimes I don't use headset in months, and then there is a game where I use it daily for 3-6 hours for week/months. I don't want the cheapest nor I do want something with 300 USD price tag and 60 Ohm impedance since it's a PC headset after all.
You’d be surprised how much your pc can run
My hd560s is rated for 120ohms I believe and its perfect
Well, yes, when about a decade ago I jumped from chinese $20 headsets I needed an external sound card (still have Asus Xonar in my old tower). But last two upgrades on-board motherbords are on par or even better compared to Xonar.
Honestly if you're explicitly NEEDING a gaming headset (though I REALLY would recommend you don't, and get a proper set of headphones and mic instead), the only one that I can recommend would be the Audeze maxwell
The maxwell is solid
95% of gaming headsets are quite frankly terrible
Their asking price is 445 bucks over here.
99.99%*
There are like 4-6 that don’t have severe issues and thousands that are bad
I meannnn
there's a few more than 6
but there's not many in the land of garbage
PC37x/38x and by extension the Game one, Audeze Maxwell, MH751/752 and by extension GM200, Cloud ii/iiw/Alpha, Penrose
it's not rated for 120ohms
ohms is the resistance of the drivers
practical numbers
also ohms only shows how many volts needed to run the thing
sensitivity is the value you need to look at
I got to get an adapter so I can have my PC run 2000 ohm headphones
hey does anyone here know anything about dual pc setups with a goxlr and getting my audio from my gaming pc to my streaming pc (streaming pc is a laptop)
I’ve had the RAZER Kraken V3 Pro headset for almost a year.. I just got a pair of beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro from Amazon for my guitar plug in studio stuff on my computer.. should I just sell the RAZER kraken v3 pro and use the beyerdynamic for both gaming and music?
My headphone comes with a volume control dial like these
So....how do you know...what exactly the volume is at
other than purely by ear
because i dont wanna ruin my ears
I’m returning the dt770 and getting k371, I hope it’s as comfy as dt770
Thanks for the examples. I found Gamer One in stores and it's in my budget range, I will consider then (though I never used an open headset before). As for HyperX, the new models look 85% identical to mine. They probably will sound the same or better but I don't fancy buying them again knowing in 3-5 years they will look like a garbage even with mild use.
return beyer get a k361 and do what you just described
k371>
or that
Is it not possible for Windows to use both A2DP for output and the AirPods microphone?
if by a2dp output you mean the stereo output that doesn't sound like shit, then no
bluetooth bandwidth issue
annoying
i wonder how apple does it then
proprietary shit?
apple shouldn't be able to do it either?
in calls you get mono sound only
it just swaps between them based on if you are in a call or not
yeah your right. i think i got confused on which mic "Live Listen" uses.
Are audio-technica's mics any good
they’re okay
I'm looking for an affordable headphone/headset for my kids computer (has soundcard with audio jack). They're 4 and 7 and still a bit rough with stuff (often throw it down and bent the wire of the old one so it's only giving sound on one ear), any recommendation? Should be resizable to also fit an adult head if possible 😉
I got k371
I ordered it
It’s coming Wednesday
Thanks to Amazon prime
I’m gonna return the dt770
Koss porta pro communication headset would be perfect. They can be resized to fit both me and my Chihuahua.
They have a designed point of failure being the ball joint where the headphone rotates on the headband and that literally just snaps in and out. The cable is pretty sturdy. The jack is reinforced. The headband is made out of steel.
Oh and it's got a lifetime warranty.
it's mainly for at home, I guess it should be covering the ears because usually one of them watches TV while the other one uses computer in same room. And I hoped to keep it under 50 bucks (but I guess have some flexibility if it's really durable)
Anything I should change?
Is there better equipment within a similar price?
+/- £20
Drop the fosi and get a dt880 instead of the 880
Whats the difference between different impedances? Also rip
Also these look open back-
Lower impedance means the amplifier can deliver more power, but it's a little bit more strenuous on the amp.
So if you have something that doesn't have a whole lot of power, think an old iPod, you want a low impedance to get the volume you want.
But with a high impedance the headphone is closer to "ideal" from the amplifiers perspective so it's happier powering it. Usually.
Happier meaning it can control the headphone better.
The 250 ohm beyers is the sweet spot. Modern hardware can make it loud enough.
dont go for 32 ohm in beyers
600 ohm beyers is like, for studio use and daisy chaining a bunch of headphones.
32 ohm beyers is for mobile where you're gonna be using a weak source in a very loud environment
what type of music are you listening
Electronica, Rock, metal, all sorts
this is my attempt at ditching airpods pros when using my pc lmao
Battery doesn't like me listening to music all day XD
600ohm is difficult to get loud
way too much for motherboards
so 250ohm and the Fiso or 32 and no external amp?
I dunno honestly, what's good?
Oki doki
thank you
Oh also, what do tube amps sound like? I'm curious but not curious enough to buy one
Is it softer?
I don't have any meaningful experience with them
There aren't any good ones here and I haven't tried any on a speaker I listen to
Yes Klaus I am aware
“Good” valves will sound as transparent by default as a good transistor in circuit (the intention with valves was never to create a warmer sound or whatever)
Typically in practice a valve amp will sound warmer and at that point it’s just a question of whether you like it/prefer it over something else
They’re a component which do wear out and they sound different as that occurs - it’s a nonsense prospect to me and would rather use EQ or change my speakers appropriately
Back in the day I used a Musical Fidelity F-22 pre amp and F-15 power amp, the former had a valve output stage and the latter had a valve input stage - id rate it as “it was a good amp” - it didn’t have a particularly warm sound with the Focal speakers I used it with, but I didn’t have much other gear to compare with in the house.
Based off of hearsay, people generally go for tube amps in the 1k budget
Most tube amp owners I have spoken to have said that unless you go for diy solutions tube amps are not worth it around the 500$ price point
the only reason i have a hybrid tube amp for my speakers is that it looks cool
done, the k371 is coming wed thanks to ama zon
Magic eye tubes are what they are called
gonna return the beyers once they arrive
the dt770 is so fucking comfy tbh
They are
i hpe the k371 is as comfy
Beyer nails comfort
ya
I’d love a tuner with one of the eye indicators on it
Wouldn't an amp be better lol
Ive never seen an amp with a magic eye
Is there a reason it couldn't exist
I’m familiar with tuners using them for signal strength
I guess you could use one as a level indicator
I'm not familiar with them at all, they just dropped in my youtube feed one day and ever since I long for one
😄
There’s no doubt at all that anything with valves showing is far prettier than the Quad/Sony/parasound gear I use
Have you seen audiovalve solaris
Heard of but not in person
The most extravagant gear I’ve heard in person is Tune audio anima speakers /modwright electronics, and at the same (mostly amateur show) someone had electronics by dcs/krell
But that is waaaaay out of my league for personal ownership
anyone had their hands on the new sony recievers yet?
No, though I would like one of the ES ones if I had the spending power 😂
Forgive me. For I have sinned.
I have placed a speaker behind my screen.
On another note. 5.2.2 was a good upgrade. Would recommend.
your sins are not pardoned
Oh no. How can I atone?
repent and resolve the issue
I repent. I resolve. I seek forgiveness.
Native cross hairs
Yup.
wiggly air
The wigliest.
Good news my audio nerds
My hearing is essentially perfect
doc cleared me
But what's the frequency response of your ears
reading this makes me want to do an ear chekup meself
Flat as hell like my ass
my m track solo isnt recieving audio input
Portable dac amp with some method of volume control on the unit.
InB4 apple dongle.
Qudelix 5k
hip dac
fiio k3
or high end fiio dap phone that costs like 600$
That's slightly frustrating I bought a k3 and was mocked because of it.
"Bad choice apple dongle better"
Apple dongle doesn't have a knob
Well I'd you're overpaying for a knob then you're gonna get mocked
Well keyboard no have and keyboard with is $200.
But fiio k3 isn't bad at all.
And, wan'er or salnotes zero.
I have a friend who has the salnotes zero and they are exceptional. Looking for a pair of the new warzone for iem. The under $30 range. Because it seems like once a week I hear of a new "best budget" iem. I don't think there was any other time where this price point was this competed in for audiophile gear.
could've just gotten a 4k120 TV .-.
I am going to order soon
Nvr mind went with wan'er just because friend has salnotes and that way we can compare more audio.
budget?
Literally just get the Behringer C-1U instead
idk, 50? 100? i wont use much tbh i like to work without headphones sometimes
save up for a pair of edifier 1280s
around 120$ generally
if you want to cheap out a lot go for creative pebbles
that edifier seems too good lool
do you mean these?
or is it different from 1280s vs 1280t
i see, both of those u recommend is top 1/2 in amazon
the difference between different 1280 variants is like
the panels on their back or bluetooth features
there is a 1280bt which has bluetooth
they are the same speaker but some variants have a bit more sophisticated eq settings integrated into the speaker's panel and stuff
yeh got it
you don't really need to pay much attention to it, its better to eq from your computer anyways
cop whatever is the cheapest
i will probably get the pebbles, but those speakers........ got me thinking
Opinions on the Sony Core bookshelf speakers?
Sale for $99
what are good headphones for 200$ and a mic with or without a mixer for 80-100$
Headphones: hd560s
Mic im not sure if the xm8500 and m track solo would surpass the $100 mark
also why ask for headphones with or without a mixer if either works anyways lmao
was asking for mixer with the mic
You mean an interface?
with or without
just saw a video about the podmic usb
yh
Nah dont get podmic
xm8500 + m track solo is the cheapest xlr setup
and its good
I also dont think the USB version is released yet
should i wait for it?
c1 + m track solo works too
but its more difficult to set up
i mean it isn't really
but sort of
I think that might just pass $100
none are available where i live
middle east
what about the k688
shouldn't be too different
how does it sound?
watch a demo off of youtube
check box's contents to make sure it comes with an arm for itself
or just buy a boom arm which is a better idea anyways
should i get a dynamic usb or does it not make a differance
you shouldn't think about that sort of stuff
its a usb mic anyways
diaphragm type isn't something you should be worried about when getting something for 50$
it sounds good 👍
what about if i go for something for 250$
why would you
mics don't necessarily get better the more you pay
i mean they do but very marginally
you wont gain much
just more longevity etc
Quick question, is dsee on the wf-1000xm4 worth using if I use flacs?
about the headphones what should i get for 200$
hd560s
dt880 250ohm
Looking for a good wireless headset for ~150, any recommendations?
anything wireless?
I have good wired headphones so I only have flacs cause it's already on my home media server
I don't recommend wireless
but if you want to
cloud 2
audeze maxwell if you want to go big
what about the nova 7?
Although ldac makes it sound better than nothing at all
The thing is, wires are always in the way for me. Do you know any with good wires, like the springy ones?
the ones i recommended are fine
bad
not awful but
if it was better than what I mentioned id recommend it
that says more about their standards than it does of the items quality
tfw you try a product, but its just 50% static any time it tries to produce any sound
hey is there any reason to buy an expensive cd player if i already have a standalone dac? can i just buy one of those external usb cd players
will the quality be suffice to a costly one ?
there is no benefit if you are going to use your own dac
If you're gonna be at a computer, I don't see a reason not to use the external CD player to just rip the CD and then use a file player like foobar or music bee.
ahhh okay thanks
or just download cdrips
C drips
if it's the same tuning as the original podmic, it's gawrbage
oddly harsh in the treble
xm8500 is cheaper and sounds better, if you mod with broadcaster style housing you get the same idek how to describe it, vicinity effect?
Proximity effect
but it's like
the capsule is put further into the body and there's a piece of foam between the front and capsule
either way theres that, or save up for like a q9u or mv7x
q9u in the stock config is pretty bad
but there's low cut and presence boost switches that make it sound fantastic...
q9u is also USB
Mv7x is just more of the safe "modern" tuning and does it well enough
Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic Gaming Headphones?
senn pc38x
if my amplifier is occasionally buzzing in one ear should I return it?
its not a consistent buzzing
its like bzz bzzzz bzzz bz bzbz bzzzzzzz bz
and then it stops for a while
One of these days you'll buy a good amp
i think it's about time you grab a topping stack and forget about amps
u dont fuck with well built, aesthetically pleasing, well measuring, affordable audio gear?
well measuring my ass
just because 3rd order harmonic distortion is not measureable
u dont fuck with boring sounding amps?
topping fans when they realize their 300$ stack sounds the same as an apple dongle
that's compliments to the apple dongle more than anything
not having coloration isn't a bad thing
it means you are wasting 291$ too much
naw
moar power
more connectivity
pretty metal box with knobs
subjective source gear virgins fear the objective chad who has hit endgame with $300 and happily listens to music
nah but $200 sure
topping d10 measures fairly well
$400 if you like to use heavy corrective eq
i used to see no point in analog headphone eq but it might be nice so that you dont have to use negative software preamp and drive your amp harder
oh for sure
you cant even tell what it's doing
but having like a 20 band hardware eq would be cool
of course
is there such a thing as hardware peq
like having frequency knobs but also Q-width knobs
that would be pretty epic
someone needs to create a product line that's only purpose is to complement audio gear in visuality only
that can be a passthrough
and act like a vu meter
possibly have analog vu meters and knobs
faders and shit that just feedback to your computer and do digital eq insted
just get yourself a tube preamp with a vu meter
just for looks and shit
id want a good tube amp
so id rather just make a vu meter box
with like my audio interface's spare output or something
klaus make vu meter when
haaaa fiio utws5 work with hifiman sundara this is awesome
they cant get ear damage loud but they totally work for a comfortable volume
i have achieved negligible latency fidelity
While looking like a goober
ill proudly be a goober
it’s not that bad imo
you dont feel or hear that theyre attached if you bend their ear band
and with a bluetooth transmitter theyre treated as a wired audio device in software
nice is debatable but congrats ig
Good is debatable
yeah it really sucks having a very comfortable and well measuring affordable headphone
Too sibilant for me
well measuring sure. It's kinda chonk, yokes don't feel great and it sounds... dead/dry
Like as much as I personally don't like edition xs, they're far better than sundara
i am a hater of the hifiman dip
I need some help to figure out how much power this amplifier can draw at full capacity, as I do not know how to read electrical jargon
Also, at Full, can it run off of the same power strip as a 750 W pc
Since NA uses 120V, that'd be 660w
dunno what class amp it is, it could draw that much it might not
So it can run on the same power strip?
You can, but I wouldn't recommend it
Ok
depends on how often you're drawing 600w on that receiver
your home breaker is either 15a or 20a
it says it maxes at 5.5a, there shouldnt be any issue using it on the same breaker as a PC
it’s an integra dtr 30.1 from like 2009
assuming it's 15a you don't want to draw over 12a
i have ran
12a * 120v is 1440w, which is more than your pc and amp both at max draw
a tv, a speaker amp, two headphone amps, 5 monitors, a mini fridge, and two window AC units with one breaker
NA?
yeah
no
Oh nvmd
youre not gonna be running both your computer and your amp at 100% maximum load at the same time
2400w peak, 1920w sustained for 20a breaker
I don’t overlock so yeah that’s prolly true
I don’t got a very good pc
Sorry
Very power hungry
it should be totally fine
Ok thx!
well measuring
one of the headphones with the highest decay in the market
the only decay to be found is the stuff between your teeth
Susvara rings as well.
Also something something minimum phase all captured in the frequency response
no no let klaus continue to hyper fixate on something that's not audible while ignoring the faults of other headphones that are very well audible
"not audible"
Audible doesn't matter to him because he doesn't actually get to hear the headphones. All he can do to interact with them is pull up solder dudes flat plate measurements
sundara are sibilant but it's not because of the decay you bring up
it's pretty much because of it
inb4 you post its distortion chart
which is a direct result of the decay
sounds being off tune
Sure. To extend that, it's when you try and make a pure signal but it contains harmonics. Yes?
alright
It has components which alter the final waveform into anything other than a sinusoidal wave
Now what happens if your pure sinusoidal wave just lingers for a little bit longer than it's supposed to?
I don't know what a fucking sinusoidal wave is probably nothing good
oh
a sine wave
I am talking about sundaras in particular
or are you going to tell me its pure coincidence that the distortion and decay is at the same frequencies
it's definitely some minute decay and not the 5-10db peak at 6k which is a sibilance region
I was gonna say that you can ring without distorting
I don't think you can easily say that distortion is caused by ringing tho.
It might be something causing both.
Or the distortion causing the ringing.
to my knowledge its the magnet placement that causes the distortion
which is assumed to cause the distortion
That seems like too easy of a fix
i mean
i meant the driver's componential placement
like the magnet and the other parts of the driver
not just the chasis
at that point you would need to be engineering an entirely different driver
Which one? The 37x is only 79 rn
That's a good price for the 37x. The 38x is better. But these things don't scale linearly.
Alr well I think I’ll get the 37x considering it’s 79
And it’s still really good
37x because of the price
hella good price for 37x. It's basically the senn Game One
anyone know of any headphones that are good for just general use? (gaming, music, just good overall things) also i have a mic so i dont really need a headset
preferably wireless but ig i dont mind if its wired im just bad with cable management lol
and below 200 if possible
also i'd prefer not having an open back since i dont want others hearing my stuff lol
You cannot go wrong with Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 ohm edition, I have been using them for 3 years now and they are rock solid and considering ownership reviews they should last a lifetime... And if you are worried about your PC/Laptop driving them - they can drive them fairly well but I would recommend getting an apple usb c to 3.5 mm adaptor for a good sonic experience or else if a full blown dac/amp combo tingles your spine go for it.
specifically apple or just any adaptor?
Apple adaptor because that has the best dac and amp combo compared to the competition, hence is the most price effective (unironically for apple)
also are there any wireless options u can think of? again not a huge issue its just nice sometimes to be able to walk around the house with them on lol (even if they disconnect after like 20 ft away like my current ones)
If your computer has bluetooth, you can get small bluetooth dacs that you plug wired headphones into.
That setup will probably sound a lot better than a 200-300 wireless headphone setup
Idk about good, stax do have their shills
especially for the discontinued ones…
Most of which Lambda shills
Wooo just bought the drop pc37x headset
The DT880 are solid as well also for a little less money the hifiman HE400se
The sennheiser are the goto reference. Not the best of the best but the stick by which everything else is compared.
From my understanding estat are kinda a thing. Nimble above all else if the descriptions from others are to be believed.
You either hate it or love it sort of thing
I was using these regularly at work with a FiiO K3 and was quite happy with it.
Being a work environment closed back was a must.
K3 is a dac
It's also an amp.
And, for something to have at work plugged into my work laptop I've been quite happy with the two.
Love mine personally
I think as a dac it is much better than the JDS labs dac I have on my desktop
I think my mains voltage is shitty af
I hear noise just from having my amp plugged into the wall
while its not even powered on
i think youre developing audio schizophrenia
You mean tinnitus?
More likely a shitty power supply.
My other amps pick it up too
Just not as bad
Its probably the 30 year old washing machine that is dirtying the power
I am on the same electrical group
maybe there's a bird sitting on a powerline a couple streets away from you
weird that it just started now
It's not a constant buzzing
It's like buzz bzzzz bz bz bzzzzz bzzzzzz
Sometimes popping noises too
Like the noise of something being plugged into an outlet and you hear a pop from the electricity making a spark
i think the most affordable way to test your theory would be to get a UPS
they do some similar things but they’re different
I was thinking of hiring an electrician to check how dirty the power was
stabilizes voltage and can keep your stuff powered through short power outages or brownouts
I was thinking of getting a second hand power conditioner
I can unplug the washing machine tonight and see if it stops
if you're not rocking both a UPS and a power conditioner wyd
silly dirty power in ur headphones
I was so set on getting the sm7b until I heard the ethos
Damn why isn’t the mic as popular
Especially with the price decrease
ethos is sexy
looks like a sm7b but it’s a condenser and has a basically flat frequency response
Yeah and it has a good bass response
My amp's power supply is supposed to filter it out
How is a 1200 euro amp doing such a bad job
My voice is bassy and I don’t want to sound boomy or unnatural
With the tumble dryer and washing machine off the noise is gone
Why is the violectric's case powered
When I put my hand on the violectric that is powered on I hear a ground loop hum
Even with the power off
How
Is there AC flowing through the ground
Did I fuck up the wiring for my ceiling lamp

arctis pro wired with the DAC thingy or corsair hs65?
It’s designed to handle around 50hz of relatively clean power
Something on your circuit is dirty as hell. I had the same problem on ships
Use a UPS
If it doesn’t work, you’d still have a new UPS, and that’s good
ups r awesome
Keep the usb cable away from power cables
because it's picky af
yes it sounds "good" compared to say, SM7b
sm7b needs an eq for the most part
but my goodness unless you're in a sound deadened room it picks everything up. No, moving the mic closer to your mouth and turning down the gain doesn't fix it.
If your room is not well sound treated avoid the ethos
You're literally better off getting an XM8500
In this case perhaps, mv7x?
150 bucks, a darker dynamic, but not as dark as the 7b
very smooth and "modern" tone if that makes sense
mv7x = caca in my opinion
any reason why?
unflattering frequency response and not aesthetically pleasing
Would rather get the 7b over that mic
Mv7x just sounds meh
i dont like dynamic mics with treble shelfs
I think some wiring is wrong, I'll let an electrician check it out
I want something that is good for singing too
Ohhh
is your room treated at all?
if youre not being paid by a studio for your voice recordings room treatment isnt that important imo
I’m going to buy more treatment but it’s decent right now
nah it is
True I am doing this more as a hobby
good tonality with a bit of room noise > lame sounding mic with no room noise
I want the best audio experience
For speakers and recording, room treatment matters as much as the speakers/mic
well, more for speakers
Well 400
and far field speakers are affected more
400 usd and I need a mic that reacts well to deep voices
mmm willing to go used?
Yeah
See if you can snag a Shure KSM32
wait can you send a quick recording of your voice
Alternatives could be possibly like a WA47jr? Or neat king bee 1
Would the hdmi out on this dinosaur of an amp show the onscreen settings, or is it only the monitor out and component out?
It very likely will show osd via hdmi
i ordered this cable and it says only compatible with an iphone and not androids would it work with a pc?
i dont get how it wouldnt be compatible on android if its compatible on iphone if both use 3.5mm jacks
Plug it in and see what happens
Okay
Yeah thinking of getting the re320 or maybe the icon pro
Hang out with me live over at: https://www.twitch.tv/jollylegend
This guy has a very similar voice to me but without the accent
https://youtu.be/G8zCbflA7Mg he did a review on the earthworks and it sounds boxy
00:00 Intro
03:00 Windscreen
04:30 vs Sennheiser MKH 416
05:30 vs Rode NT1
06:20 vs Behringer Ultravoice XM8500
06:50 vs Blue Ember
07:17 vs Lewitt LCT 1040
07:38 Conclusion
I would suggest Podcastage for mic reviews
His voice is high pitched
This guy is one of the few mic reviewers that has a pretty deep voice and has reviewed the ethos
I don’t want to buy a mic that works for someone whose voice is the opposite of my voice
Podcastage had a very positive view on the ethos, but this other reviewer who had a low frequency voice, sounded boxy
Anyone have heard the edifier s880 db ?
Are they good ?
doesnt sound boxy to me
it's definitely very soft but in a good way rather than being headache inducing like a sm7b
c1 is good for vocals
noisy but good mic
I have a high budget for a mic though I want this to be an endgame mic that I will use probably for as long as it can run
Someone had an sm7 that was manufactured 50 years ago
Mics last long
its not like you necessarily get a better mic the more you pay
don't discriminate because of the pricetag
You do though I can hear differences between numerous mics
Now if you’re using bad quality headphones or phone speakers
It is a different sound
It is not a better sound or a better mic
not unless you want a multidirectional mic for some surround recording bs anyways
the only real benefit to purchasing a different mic is the noise level and it sounding more to your liking
and the latter is barely a point and a half since you have the power of post recording process
and if you can't, in the audio engineering community, this is commonly referred as a skill issue
But bass vocals with extreme low end can it match a icon pro
And does the room need to be heavily treated
Yeah idk Klaus. If skull wants to overspend on a microphone let them
What are you even using this for, skul
trying to make him more of a conscious buyer but he is spend to disregard what I said if he wants to
you can make it
its not like pros buy like a single 10k mic and be done with it either
they have several mics
and the only purpose they serve is convenience so they can get the sound they want easier without having to use as much post processing
I already use a shure sm58 so I was looking for an upgrade
