christ what's all that used for
prolly because they kept making revisions to fix schiit bugs lel
I don't even know what they are and do 😭
I'm interested in audio though I'm intrigued to learn about it
bifrost and modius are DAC units which take the music files on your computer and turn them into real electricity signals
jotunheim is an amplifier which boosts that signal and sends it to your headphones
no idea why he has 4 of the same amplifier though
Balanced
again
unless he was getting them for free why would he keep buying them
Afaik he just had one in each room or something lmao
you can also get them with usb and dacs or something
that’s based
to HEADPHONES?
I thought they'd be used for like PA
yeah there are some huge headphone amps
Some headphones like it when you give them more power
we like big metal boxes with knobs and switches they’re fun
there are headphones that need more power to reach normal listening signals then basic pa speakers
not really
you need a thicker gauge cable to send more power over a longer distance but that’s never gonna be a concern with headphones
that’s more a speaker thing
Oh damn - I know literally nothing and it'd take ages for you guys to explain so I'll leave it for now
how to kill someone with sound
sound energy is just a different type of energy, and some headphones are really inefficient at converting from electricity to sound
apart from using michaels mom's moans
make 1 ohm speaker and connect it to a 2000w class d amp
would it even work
i dunno
depends on the amp
if i had to guess i would say that PA speakers and concert speakers are extremely efficient
how can i make an active sonar to kill someone
and low ohm
extremely efficient yes
low ohm most certainly not
what db do you need to stop someone’s heart
you kill them with pressure before that
thats what sound is
yeah i could’ve said spl and it’d be the same
how loud does it need to be to stop ur heart
it destroys your brain first
200dB I know you die at
from what i’m reading sounds in the 170-200db range are loud enough to cause pulmonary embolisms or burst your lungs
yea considering thats hand grenade levels lol
and over 240db will make your head explode
i can't exactly steal a submarine or it's sonar
so i need diy solutions
Isn’t it like double the loudness every 3db
skill issue on my part
a doubling of volume yeah but our ears are wonky
at normal listening levels
it can take as much as 6-10db to perceive it as doubled
the scale differs by volume level
Interesting
ears are stupid
@molten lotus said he would buy me these https://store.hifiman.com/index.php/arya.html?
This is the latest Stealth Magnets version.
I'm very much a noob to all of this but I'm quite curious; How do in-person podcasts isolate audio so well? For example the WAN show, Linus & Luke are right next to each other live and it sounds so good!
I assume some of it has to do with the microphone but idk if that's the whole story
Awe damn theres a bit of creaking in my hd560s headband mechanism
Did it develop recently? or out of the box
It shouldnt really be a problem as thats just kinda how they are with how they are built, my 650 has a bit of creak if you bend it
I think this is good for M40s?
But I ain't a full on audiophile, just going off my regular ass ears
whatever makes it sound good to you works
These any good?
They’re probably fine - Sony (at least used to) stamp model numbers with XB to denote “extra bass” for their gear which competed with the beats stuff
I had a pair of Sonys which I can’t find the damn model number of fully but they had 700 in the model number, they were possibly an older version of those and they were fine
Edit: was looking at the wrong thing 😄
they all muddy pieces of shit
I don’t think you’ve listened to much hardware to come out with that
Yes, they do have that XB line of headphones, but in my (and other peoples) experience, a lot of their other headphones also are boomy or bassy. Like pretty much all of their 1000XM headphones, with the sole exception of the WF-1000XM3...
But it's also true that Sony can do the exact opposite of bass-y. The LinkBuds and LinkBuds S are the perfect example for that
I have Wf1000xm3 and wh1000xm3, neither are boomy or too bassy
They can deliver deep bass, it isn’t overdone
I find the WH-XM3s a bit too much for daily use. And I do enjoy a bit of emphasis on the Bass. The Bose QC35 continue to be my fav pair for on the go
Gosh, constructive comments vs “they’re shit”
I never said they're garbo. I'm just not personally a friend of how most Sony's sound...
I know you didn’t say that
Hence why i said this
reminder to not get point blanked by a sp*rm whale
That would be a bad day
i mean you would not see the end of it because you'd have no head
it's funny to think that the loudest recorded noise is a clicking noise
Wh is the definition of bassy
Instead of conpin I think you yourself hasn't listened to enough hardware to come to this conclusion
the bloop?
the clicking of the whales

may be one of the most dangerous animals ever
their click will inadvertently kill you even when youre not that close
and they click frequently
ROFL.
Ok. 🙂
ofc everyone knows 10dB bass boost shelf is not boomy
:^))))
especially when it bleeds into the mids
Carry on as you are
boominess usually comes from the bass to mid transition and not the bass itself although i think you need signifcant bass for it to bleed into the midrange to begin with. xm3 both has significant bass and a bad bass to mid transition
Gosh
yeah its too much
Gosh
you know something is wrong when rting's target says its too bassy
youre allowed to like bad things correct
'Gosh, constructive comments vs “they’re good”'
-anonymous internet user circa 2023
constructive criticism is needed as long as you are arguing against me and aren't me
:^)
Yes - and I was replying to someone saying “they’re shit” without any actual information
That isn’t my stance Klaus
Ok, but that wasn’t stated
yeah you presumed it
You are presuming
I don't, I know conpin
hes saying there was no clarification so he just dismissed it. In truth instead of dismissing it you could have just asked why
if you can say xm3's are good then that says enough about your standards to know where you stand
I think someone should try a product instead of relying on someone’s comments because they might actually like them
even if I am lying the frequency response which is objective information is publicly available
I think you like conpin and you’re just saying this to argue for the sake of it
and it is by research shitty
You’re arguing a very strange point here
But carry on, I’ll leave you to it
I hope the original question asker finds headphones he enjoys
Sorry to have offended
I am stating is, even if I were to be lying like you proclaim, the headphone is objectively shitty according to actual research in the field by harman
you might not like harman but other research also remains
all of which also deem the headphone shitty
hell it's shitty even according to the made up rtings target
Yes, you’ve made your point, I’ve conceded
if you want to enjoy shit go ahead it's no one's business but people will get pissed off when you are trying to deal others in shit
I have apologised already
I apologize too
Excellent
theres not many people in this hobby that will defend the sony headphones as anything but 'good for anc and nothing else'
My favourite headphones are DT770 pro
they are the best at anc I have heard
Because super cheap
haven't tried qc45
dt770
qc45 is like about the equivalent to the sonys
unnecessary, but ehh
dude yall spent 30 minute arguing lol
he really did nuke the poop-audio post purchase deductive hypothesis
enemy of science
unfortunately i feel that poop is not exactly audio-tech discussion
few more to go it seems

i assure you there is an ultimatum
smh
what if it is about the sound of it?
🙄
that's probs a no

Do AV Receivers have Pre-Amplified outputs? (Besides the subwoofer)
Is the sound blasterx G6 any good? Found one for under 100$, to drive dt990 pro 250Ω
the 250 ohm 990's dont really require all that much power. so the g6 will work with them.
Love how I can search todays top iems and theres articles in 2023 that dont even mention the timeless when they mention ranges from $3600 what the hell to $59.
there's a new "best" budget iem every week. you cant expect articles to keep up with that
What were the $99 iems that had that purple glass again? Rounded oblong shape, I was considering those or the Timeless AE
Im just surprised with all the glowing praise behind the Timeless yk? Figured theyd piggyback on the name rather than "This spensive so it good"
well usually when people say something is good, its because its good for the price. everyone sings high praises of the koss headphones but nobody in their right mind is saying that they're better than good headphones in the $1000 range
Of course
I havent heard of a lot of these though. Guess that is in part to my budget not being 3 grand but
Ngl I didn't like timeless much
I was looking at either Timeless AE or the Dioko. Shame that the Timeless dont have the 2 pin. Also LTT had an opinion I didnt like, they prefer the coaxial
@solid dirge what's your budget?
Can you go for Moondrop KATO?
I was looking at those but since I use my headphones so often, my ears produce a lot of wax and Ive heard bits about the nozzles not handling that well.
That's mostly the brass ones. The KATO come with steel and brass nozzles (steel are the default but you can swap to brass)
The brass ones were corroding in some instances where people were either sweating a lot or had extremely waxy ears.
But the steel ones are fine (and tbh the steel ones sound better anyway)
Im a bit ignorant when it comes to this stuff as well, but I was also looking to get specifically planars
Is there a particular reason you're wanting planars?
The planar IEMs are all a little hit or miss atm
The better response thats associated with them mostly, also the better separation of instruments
That's the case with full size planars. With the IEMs not so much atm.
Also I am a little bit of a basshead
so Id like the option to drive that up without it becoming too muddy or distorted
thats not a concern with IEMs
well, with decent iems anyways
smaller diaphragm, lower moving mass, lower excursion, better seal.
@white gate do you know anything about the amplification on the smsl vmv a1?
its not "classical class A" like they advertise in their pamphlet. it idles at 13-15 watts and as soon as i play music through it on speakers, i can see it jump by half a watt or 10-15 watts.
It's just very high bias class AB
Speaking of seal I plan to wear these for hours on end and dont want to readjust them every 10 mins like my galaxy buds
i doubt its high bias though. because im playing at 70db and i can see that rise in power consumption
that’s down to finding the perfect tip size
you'd think that it would be 15 watts, then as soon as it gets above the transition point, then it draws more power
I have a good tip size, its just like I said, my ears produce so much wax that they just slip
I have one here, I'll see if I can find the actual quiescent current in a bit
oh neat. okay.
planar iems are usually behind dynamics in terms of frequency response tuning but the “tangzu x hbb wu heyday” look pretty great
timeless was praised so much because it was one of the first planar iems that didn’t have super weird tuning
but it’s not that great anymore
you know i cant tell if thats a real name or a joke name
Ngl it still has kinda messed up treble IMO
it has a peak in the treble
Huh. Alright then. I heard that peak in the comparison vids I watched, especially compared to the AE which is part of why I leaned towards that model
i use these planar iems every day
nah open ur mind to the possibilities
Yeah dont kink sha- wait..
Ive been wondering why theres a red and blue line on these graphs, does that indicate R/L or something else?
yah L/R
Odd that the Kato with the steel nozzle has more variance than the brass one
What shape are the “ears” of the measurerererer
ear shape i reckon
Ear variances - the big oof
true that
if you’re bill gates you can have custom iems made specifically for your ear shape made
Oh I’m far too peasant
i think they’re like $1000-2000
same
Would love to try if it were within reach though
Logitech also makes iems that have form-fitting whatever in them. Well TWs actually
i haven’t seen that
short circuit has done a couple of vids on them
Logitech G fits
The little bit I've heard of them sound wise is "they lack bass" according to normie reviewers
aka its probably just a normal amount
and a lethal amount for con-pin
idk, IEMs don't really do much in terms of rumbling bass
worst thing about those would be the returning process probably...
aka can't return, because you can only have them take shape once iirc
you dont think the tips are meant to be removed?
no
they sell replacements for $30 a pair
they do
but they really need that seal
ever since I got triple flange er2se tips the bass started to hit so much harder
is it hard slamming bass, or actual bloated rumbling consumer trash bass you find in things like skullcandies (which is the kind I am talking about here)
thats actually the rumbling voice of Klaus moaning in pleasure as he inserts them
rumble
who's this them?
ofc not skullcandy tier but it definitely rumbles
and slams a lot harder than before
he calls him "eddie"
but it's nowhere as responsive as planar slam
ba is faster than planar
i don't know what ba is
which?
best microphone + stand i can get with £70
don't want to go xlr, want a fairly plug and play setup
i want boom arm to be viable too for the future
hit me
thank you
been looking at the nzxt capsule
but knowing nzxt i can probably go better for the money or go for something of similar quality for less
Thoughts on my pop filter lol
I feel like that's more of an everything filter
it works lol
yeah you just don't get anything post 10khz
I mean, I pushed all the stuffing aside so its just a layer of fabric between my mic and the stuffed animal itself
hey guys my headphones are doing this really bad stutter every little bit i tired resetting my pc, and messing with them in settings but nothing is fixing it
Guys, phone records are way better than which I've record on my computer but why ?
mobo is b450m s2h and using default app with w11
only complaint so far for the hd560s is its plastic build leads to some noise from certain head movements in the headband mechanism
it be like that
I have gone from HD560>SHP9500>Hifiman Sundaras
I definitely prefer the headband design of the latter two over what sennheiser has to offer
You went from 560s to 9500?
Yeah, my 560s broke :C
Also at the time I got my 560s for $80
I understand not liking sundaras
but shp9500>sundaras
come on
I like the sunduras
Im not saying they're better
I'm saying im going from one to another
oh
Dunno which channel is the best for this question, but this had audio in it so here it is...
I've had my Corsair Vengance 1500 for Quite some time now and they are unearthly filthy and some of the plastic just broke. The USB cable have been replaced 9 times. I guess its time for a new headset.
Any suggestions for a durable and comfy headset? Good outside world sound blocking characteristics is also nice. Budget $100-$300 ish. Preferably wirebound as wireless tends to always be un-charged. My sound profile tends to be more less heavy on the upper mid and highs.
they said they want ambient noise blocking
I've always had a built in one in the headset. Cause I do not like the big clunky mics everyone have in the middle of the screen nowadays 😛
oh i missed that part
i mean
no good headphones come with mics
so you shoot yourself on the foot with that approach
go for an audeze maxwell if you can
You can get hd560s and get a modmic wired/wireless
modmic wireless is a scam
definitely
Ehhh I disagree, I've used it before.
sounds like shit
and costs 200$
I can make a better sounding modmic wireless with components worth 10$
by taking apart literally any shitty aliexpress lavalier mic and a bluetooth mic module working on sbc
Depending on the seller you can get it for sub 100 dollars
Amazon is $140
if it was 60-70$ it would make sense
It's sufficient for most, I've used it and my friend now uses it and it serves its purpose if you're not a super audiophile.
100$ is still too much for what it is
shitty company abusing market monopoly
absolute dogs
All the audeze maxwell I find is above $400 😢
audeze penrose

no noise isolation
which he wanted
akg k371 and wired modmic would probably be best if you’re comfortable having two cables running to the computer
ahhh
Open back sounds like it blocks nothing 😢
didnt read that part
it doesn't
unless you are listening to something actively
open backs don't block anything
which is why they are made
since it aids audio quality
noise cancelling is le cringe but if you live in a city or something I get it lmao
yeah
Powered by Sennheiser's proprietary transducer technology for truly excellent sound performance, the closed back HD 569 brings a flexible option for use at home or on the go. It provides a rich and clear bass, adding further flexibility by making it possible to enjoy the full personal experience ...
you can get closed back 569s
nah
don't
lol
just get k361/k371
I have 3d printers and cnc-mills next to me on the desk, as well as kids screaming on the streat outside, I'll take all noise blocking I can get
you aren't going to stop a cnc mill with headphones
just build thicker walls between you and your equipment 😛
I know, but it helps 🙂
Sucks when the appartment is 10m2
black holes can absorb audio, i hope this can help
I know its cringe. Which is why I want closed back with decent passive blocking abilities
How is HyperX Cloud Revolver? I'm assuming crap :3
if they made a metal constructed hd560s I would easily buy em
not good
pretty sure they are what I had
crap.. i really do not want a separate microphone 😄
Why?
Is your desk really small
if you don't want a separate mic the audeze whatever should be decent
the mic sounds kind of shit, but it works
the mx50 headset seems to have a better mic, but it's an mx50
No, but full of shit, metal shavings, wood shavings, I'm pretty sure I'll fill it with junk too fast if it stands on my desk. And they tend to dislike longer distances. I move around quite a bit...
get a lav mic
Unless you want wireless
https://www.audeze.com/products/maxwell-wireless-gaming-headset?variant=40094764990542
huh
the xbox version costs $30 more

I guess that's the dolby license
my ex had a desk mic, and it blocks half her screen when she games
Like I said, get a lav mic
Or not :3
????
i think your ex was incredibly dumb in that case
I don't know of anyone that was happy with their modmic including myself. I went through 2 of them.
its not like you need the mic in front of your mouth
the sides are free real estate
or below
it blocks essentially nothing that way
you can get a cheap boom arm for like, $20
I've been through two over the course of 5 years.
But most of my peripherals I end up replacing.
shitty battery moment
Not the wireless
oh
The wireless I had for a while but my friend bought it off me because I thought it was kinda pointless with my wired headset
I just feel all these big bulky mics that people use is in the way whatever I do with them.
I don't just game, my desk is a workspace. The headset is on my head anyway. And a built in microphone is not in the way.
I do not even have a desk lamp cause they are too much in the way. LED strips all around on the shelves instead.
And I do not really care too much about mic sound quality, as I do not stream. Mic is the call counterparts issue 🙂
Just thought about it, it does not happen too often nowadays but still. I cant have a desk mic, nor a lav mic. Because when console gaming, my couch is 2 meters away from my desk. And all consoles is piped through computer. So I use the same headset when in the couch as by the desk working. So I need to bring it with me.
My current headset have a 5 meter usb cable to them, so they can reach all the 3 meters to my bed as well. And wireless headphones end up not charged too fast and also, battery won't last more than one or two years.
apparently maxwell costs 400 for them
is that aud or something?
everyone should just move to the US
Except Klaus
True
Why not Klaus?
he's a menace to freedom
I mean, he’d have the freedom to think that too lol
no. he doesnt. quite literally.
Wdym?
he had his amputated
tried oratory's he400se eq profile and the signal drops completely at higher volume
headphones just go silent until the song chills out or i lower the knob
tried lowering preamp gain even further to see if it was software clipping and it didnt help
doesnt happen with my own eq which is weird
i need moar power i dont like going over 50% on any amp on high gain
what amp is this
iemagni
might because it's the cheapest way to get a lot of balanced power
currently an open box LA90 for $760
people who tap la90 and put headphones on it are scary individuals
theres also a few open box A90's for $500
then id have to grab myself a balanced dac too because having a modi ontop of the a90d is gonna be ugly
i think ill wait until im willing to spend $600-2000 on headphones
not gonna drop a grand on a stack and plug he400se into them
coward
you'll have reached 50% of the 400se's true potential
Hello, I bought an AT2020 microphone, but it only came with the microphone. What do I need for it to work?
It says I need a 48V phantom power
you need a USB audio interface
is that all
do you know what "bass" or "sound" means
I know what sound means. I've heard of bass, I just don't know how to explain that one
bass are the funny rumbles that make conpin vomit
ah, ok
to get it working yes that's all youll need
can you send me a link to a good one
well youll need a "XLR" cable to connect your AT2020 to the audio interface, and a USB cable to connect the interface to your computer
yes that's where the XLR cable plugs into which connects the microphone to the interface
the usb cable is for connecting the interface to the computer
which you do not have an interface yet
so I need an XLR to usb?
one is analog, one is digital
what
my answer: XLR to USB wouldn't work
how do I do it then
the manual just says I need 48V phantom power
probably because they expect you to know USB goes into USB input
lel
usb or us8?
-_-
what interface should I use
this is the best i can do
A MTF XLR right?

This will work right
yah it will
the flat black side connects to the microphone and the pronged side plugs into the interface
I only found a more expensive version, yes
How is the HS80?
bad
I have a denon dp-300f record player paired with klipsch r51pm powered speakers and i need some more length to the stock rca cables on the record player. I bought an extension cable but with it comes also a noticable hum, i presume from not being grounded. The record player dosent have a ground wire. Does any one have an solution to fix this problem?

Idk who in their right minds would want an alexa enabled gaming mouse, printer or humidifier
All I can suggest is make sure the wire isnt ran near any power sources such as laptop chargers or whatever
Reduce any EMI you can
If its new maybe see if you can find something with a balanced output instead and return it. Idk enough about vinyl to know if those are common though so do with that what you will
Unfortunately that ship has sailed since they are a few years old. I didnt have any problems previously with just the stock cable but after moving the player cant reach speakers anymore without an extender.
If it's caused by the extension cable then replace it
If not google how to treat ground loops
hello, is there a way to connect a wired and a wireless(bluetooth) headset to a ssame laptop ?
Is stereo better than 7.1 for gaming? O.o
Generally no.
Most of the time virtual surround sound isn't adding any new information. It's just adding some reverb and EQ.
Got alpines for the audi
It doesn't really matter a lot unless you have speakers
7.1 just sounds bad
and off
with voicemeeter you can but it's a bad program that can destroy audio drivers to the point of needing a hard format
I'm pondering on one of these Audio Technica ATH M50xSTS that ShortCircuit reviewed yesterday
don't listen to those people
I have Rainbow components in my car - they’ve negated the need for anything extra (beyond when I just feel like having fun anyways)
just your average "loud = good" people
I have a Very big head and hate treble, so I might fall into that category 🙂
My car stereo is set at +5 Bass and -4 treble 🙂 (of +-6)
Buy them from somewhere which has a good returns procedure in case you get them and don’t like them
don't
they are awful
i mean, the frequency response is different for every audio item so it might be just that your stereo needs that adjustment rather than your tastes being different
Yeah, but everything recommended here is Headphones, not headset as I asked for 😛
@steel isle what music do you listen to?
Guys, europe, mainly gaming/music
Closed back (too much outside noise)
Budget 200€
On eyes:
770 pro x (a little over budget)
Tygr
i've read a lot, and are always DTs, HDs soo iam a bit overwhelmed, can some one give some tips?
well yeah, headsets are just that bad compared
tygr is infinitely better
avoid dt770 generally, not good
it is secondary by far to other items available for the same price
also consider hd560s
tygr is better for gaming but hd560s might be better off musically to you
and the difference in the subject of gaming isn't a huge difference either
He doesn’t want open back
he mentioned tygr
iam like no hardcore gamer, i like a lot fps and soo, but want a overall good sound
that is an open back headphone
tru
Ah fair enough
I mean if you can go for an open back then do so
you lose out on a lot of potentional performance otherwise
if you don't want that then akg k361/k371 will be your best bet
k371 is k361 with more bass essentially, purchase according to your tastes
thats what ive been reading about open back
and was a bit towards.. but yeh my setup is in the living room D:
mm
well
for 200 I really don't have any other closed backs I can recommend
dt770 and m50x are not good items
my hyperx alpha is giving me head pain on top, i can go a bit over the budget if justifies
closed back market is like
legitimately very dead
akg k361/k371 has been dominating it for years now
the only other thing I can think of are focals
which isn't a bit over the top
Um... That is exceedingly difficult to answer. A bit of everything. Mostly Heavy/Dark industry/metal, Anime music too. Folk Rock. (Rammstein/VNV Nation/Grendel/Boss music from games/Some Heavy Witch House
And games is Satisfactory/CoD/Factorio/Elden Ring-esque mostly.
Playing IR3 now.
haven't tried it
seems hd560s are my best option and not that expensive hm
My sound curve on my Corsair Vengance 1500
hd560s is also an open back
Hehe
yeh
christ
Told you 🙂
Buy a Sony XB sku @steel isle
actual corsair moment
Whenever I listen to music on my cellphone with regular Sennheiser CX150BT , I feel like my ears will bleed from the trebble :3
Sennheiser generally are way too bright for me too
sennheisers cannot make anything but open backs
literally
except for their latest wired iem lineup of ie300-600
apart from those they are a meme level company
no amp should be fine with hd560?
WTF is an apple dongle LOL
the apple usb c to 3.5 adapter
ah, gets more juice cause usb c
I would have considered hd569 or akg k371 had they had microphones. :3
or get a CX 31993
which is apple dongle but a bit more sturdier
and comes with an usb A adapter
hd569 is a hard avoid
tbh
not quite
it just has good chips so it ensures standard audio quality in case your motherboard output is bad
by good i mean decent, linear performance
ah i have a strix b550 can handle easily
motherboard audio outputs can be horrendously bad
there are kilobuck motherboards with meme level outputs
you would be surprised how bad they make them, while your motherboard might have a very decent output you can use an apple dongle for insurance
its up to you
have to research more on that, noted!
Like all my mobo outputs have high frequency disturbances under load. So I'm going for usb (partially so I can swap cable when it unavoidably fails after a year)
usb headphones?
I wish I could just buy a new set of Vengance 1500 😄
I'll likely have to do that to whatever headphones/headset I get
hd560s with a good external microphone and i should be good for some time. which micro should i get? non intrusive pls, those booms for me are weird
i mean
boom arms are excellent just position them nicely
desk arms are a lot worse trust me
no freedom at all
and your keyboard & mouse clicks transmit through the desk to the mic
i think iam more in those small that attach to the tshirt
oh then go for them
lavalier mics are great
buy any 5$ lavalier mic and it will sound good
tfw for the gaming headset tax, you can get like 3 dongles for usb to aux
Comparing mine to these?
I think I will make any audiophile puke with my eq settings 😄
Those last posted seem to be pretty standard eq settings for corsair vengance headsets :3
Pretty far off mine
i can't really blame you given it's a corsair headset
I generally mute people in voice chats that have lav mics, I cant stand the rubbing against the shirts :3
skill issue on their end tbh
should just eat it
Tbh, I mute most people in voice not irl friends but that is just me being anti social as usual.
imagine ever going into voice
and the PC38X? seems similar to hd560 but with mic
Yeah, was looking at those
Not as neutral, tuned more for gaming with a bigger presence in the bass region
And it can be run on anything
Not available in sweden :3
Really? Here in Canada they’re like $200
Also, open back
Portugal here
Oof
So for closed backs k361 or k371
I know, but no mic 😢
50000 on taxes?
Hmm idk if theres is a closed back gaming headphone from audiophile companies lol
here, its 25% import tax + handling fees...
Cloud 2s and cloud alpha are pretty decent, ive tried them both
cloud II
EU has 21% import?
Yeah I would recommend Cloud 2 or Cloud Alpha for you
Sweden has higher 🙂
Audeze Maxwell
last time I checked, 21% here at least
Oh shit right
i have cloud alpha, currently having pain in the top of my head lol, 2.5 years using
and talking to Klaus led me to hd560s
I was looking at the Audzee Maxwell, but $400 is a lot for a gaming headset.
i see that roze is in the same boat as me
it is
how much is the virtuoso xt in your country?
I want something that will last me 8 years + 🙂
i saw it selling for 370 usd and that headset is overpriced
$170
8 years holy f, 3y for me is already top notch
But that is on sale (refurb), normal pice $300
they all die on the 2nd year after the warranty period...
My Corsair Vengance 1500 is 10 years now. Swapped the USB cable 9 times :3 (re-solder a new one)
not many options there
yea, at that price it stands no chance to the maxwell
tbh, the maxwell is just one step above literally any other wireless gaming headset in the market
the only weakness is the mic which sounds like your typical sub 100 usd headset mic but its the tradeoff they made to allow more bandwidth for the headphone
If I was looking for a good mic, I would have gone with the HS80 (more or less direct replacement of my old vengance ones). But I could not be that arsed about mic quality as long as its not terrible.
Would anyone by refurb'd headphones? 😄 https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/356917-Corsair-Virtuoso-XT-Wireless-Refurb
refurbed sounds like someone else already had them on their head
https://youtu.be/YWjuUKkX6rs
heres a review of the maxwell for you
In this video, Resolve provides an overview of the revolutionary new Audeze Maxwell gaming headset. In this video, he does a deep dive on of all of its functions and features, along with a lengthy discussion on the Maxwell's sound quality for both music and gaming. Check out how this does for audiophiles as well as gamers.
Audeze Maxwell: https...
more or less yea
refurbed products have been used but then got returned in pretty good condition that the retailer can resell to cut the loss
have you seen artics nova?
Me?
they just want something that lasts
Yeah, been seeing those. They are of consideration.
one of the perks that a lot of more premium products have
I was considering them until I heard they might saturate the usb bus.
they are always on discount on amazon for me, arctis 9, arctis nova pro, logitech g pro x
Even tho they are $100 above the set budget :3
that just means you need them on its own usb port
so no pluggin it into a hub with other devices basically
its not like that one headset is gonna use up all your mobo's usb bandwidth
I wish the maxwell ones had a wired version....
they do have a wired headset, the lcd gx
but its basically their normal big ass headphone with a in line mic
super heavy for most people, super impratical for gaming as well
And costs $1000
where are you from?
Sweden
yea the price are more expensive unfortunately
A wired headset (usb) can be repaired easily. Anything wireless is a pain
And the battery will be worthless in just a years time
That is what is off putting with the wire free inner earphones
I won’t be able to do anything with any of our sets when they expire
longevity, should you being looking into HDs, DTs like me? they often are easily fixed, swap parts etc
no microphone is your deal breaker i guess D:
Just a random rant: Why is all wired cables on the left side when most computer cases is designed to stand on the right side? 😄
mouse hand
most people's dominant hand is the right one
easier to one hand disconnect it than on the right
planars? Wtf
what is dominant hand based on
What hand you mainly use..?
tfw my right is more accurate but my left is stronger
so it depends on what I am doing
you are ambidexterity then
@molten lotus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c-Z4iY1l8M&ab_channel=TheHEADPHONEShow
you basically did this video based on what u said LOL
iam sold, gonna look for mod mics or lavalier mic, thank you guys
same story for my legs, but for my legs its to the point I f'up my right leg on a regular basis just by dropping onto it, but ehh
Same
I found a local store have a drive for the maxwell ps version (works for PC anyway). Might go for that. At least puts it below $400
I'm not fond of wireless, but its better than having 2 wires cause of modmic
just get HD800 with some high end amp/dac
i wish they did 560s with rotation for easier travel
Audeze Maxwell is out of stock in sweden, 2 months delivery time
hd560 does rotation though
its open tho?
You don’t need to spend that much money to get something you enjoy
work is quiet for me
enough to adjust to your ears tho
just get KSC75 and be done
they can also hear what you listen to
goes both ways
ah yeh
it isn't loud like a speaker obviously but, if it's a quiet enviorment might be audible
high pitched anime girls singing about love
well yeah, but you get what you pay for
i have to adjust to an open headset, iam a bit noob if i can't in a week i return and get those akg
yup
delta air + apple dongle best gaming in ears
better try than to die ignorant
in ears for gaming isnt painfull for you all?
talking 1h+
no, because they don't fit in my non existent earholes
i use tip M for right side and S for left LOL
cursed but understandable
Audeze Maxwell seems out of stock everywhere....
tfw XXS too big and requires me to force it in, but gets pushed out easily
i used to work with an in ear and it hurted after 2h+
Oh.... a local store allows to book a demo time for the Audeze Maxwells before buying :3
how about?
AHAH
klaus irl
Well, mine is falling apart as we speak, so I need new ones fast :3
And this far, its the only headset actually recommended here :3
i went balls deep on an S22U because yeh, half price on ebay and i wanted to try ULTRA dispite knowing the problems of Exynos
fucked, 3h SOT
feel ya, if u can try its better
previously its cloud ii or nothing for us here gaming headset speaking
nothing else is competent enough
granted, massive nerds who has listened to how "decent" audio can sound like
demo would be a good idea
yea
cause i kid you not, there is nothing else above the cloud ii before the release of the maxwell that is decently tuned
decently tuned
not even better
That’s a huge price difference
tbh, Maxwell does not seem to be released outside us yet
imagine they last 2years
the cloud ii
u can just buy 3 more
and still save money
lol
yeah...
it is here
"here"?
nether
Useful information
well, thats why i said dont go narrowed to the maxwell, but try it nevertheless
Its out of stock everywhere I can buy from 😄
time to head out, thanks guys, gl on your findings
It’s pretty amazing
Linus seemed to think planar was not really worth it
its linus
It seems like a fashionable thing at the moment
I sort of agree but the problem is a lot of planars are expensive and the cheap ones all suck
So compromise required, then
yes, your wallet
So final verdict? Wait 1+ month for a Maxwell or go for a Cloud II now? Seems like I can order the latter for $100 from amazon.
Also, will the Maxwell last 4 times as long as the Cloud II?
Latter = Cloud II 😄
Former = Maxwell = $400 (for me)
Just buy some speakers and tape em to your head
400se is decent
Speakers are the best gaming experience
Avoid the bass
As long as you turn the subwoofer completely off that will work well </s>
Klaus, PC38X for 175€ bad deal vs HD 560s 145€ ? just because less trouble with microphone, and seem more spatial awareness for gaming
I already have 700w speakers in my 10m2 room...cant use them often tho
it doesn't have more spatial advantages over the hd560s
hd560s sounds better
but go for whatever is convenient
honestly
Id get a boomarm and hd560s if I were you but the decision is yours
Pioneer A-702R + Big speakers ♥️
Isnt an hd58x basically just a pc38x but without a mic, higher impedance and higher quality?
nope
entirely different driver is a start
go for it tbh
it wont be lav mic quality
ahah ur losing your patience xD
but definitely usable
thanks
i mean
How much does HD560s sound for people beside you? Eg. the sound bleedthrough
mr4 are supposedly pretty good for a desk setup
How long do you think Audeze Maxwells microphone will last without getting iffy cause of bad connection? All detachable microphones suck ass from a longevity standpoint imo.
Consequence of price.
The 1280s are brighter, less even, but they don't have a massive hole at the crossover point.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Pickings are slim at this price point
anyone know any good inexpensive over ear wireless headphones anc maybe preferred or noise cancelling with bluetooth thats good for iphone and or some gaming on laptop?
mr4 are also actives
and are better than 1280
What’s budget?
I have a fiio dsd capable dac for the office and a Sony uda-1 dac in my lounge, former was £130 new and the latter was £200 used
Well my pc is at 1200 usd rn
If your motherboard sound outputs aren’t noisy and you don’t have much to spend, sticking with that is usually fine these days
Idk yet so I’ll probably check once it comes in thanks
It should be very quiet unless you listen at unhealthy volumes, someone standing right next to you might hear it, but someone standing 5 feet away cannot hear it clearly
put your music on and then take your headphones off and set them on the desk
it’s like that
My ex had those Razer pink ones with cat ears, and I heard everything she listened to from 4 meters away, even with my headphones on 😛
Horrible to sit beside :3
i think your ex is steadily developing hearing damage
those ones suck to wear
they don't hug your head very well- or at least not for me
i could assume that they maybe weren't on her head properly
having a cold for 4 weeks has now closed of my left ear
the pressure does not want to equalise
even after correcting it gets fucked after like 2 seconds
do drops
then spray lukewarm water into it with an injector
not too hard or else you will get dizzy
spray it towards the top of you ear so the water you spray dips from the bottom while you spray it at the top
had this happen to me march of 2020
lived with it till december
damn
and then got tubes in my ears
I dont want tubes again
having your eardrums pierced sounds scary
I had them as a kid
my doctor was great except for when he DRASTICALLY underestimated the pain of the tubes
i was offered freezing and do it then and there or wait a few weeks and be put to sleep for it
i chose freezing
worst pain of my life
I've booked a test time for the Maxwells. Whenever ™️ they come in stock
what r ur opinions about it
I really like it tbh
coo
imagine the driver is facing outwards towards other people, that's what the sound leakage is like
Your ex has severe hearing damage
A new level discrete amplifier LA90 Discrete, an unprecedented performance benchmark will bring you a breathtaking listening experience. The newly developed discrete NFCA power amplifier reaches a new level of pristine sound and accuracy. The unprecedented level of performance will bring you the absolute amaze on the sound quality. You will expe...
la 90 but discrete???
seems too good to be true
moar power
What was not discrete about the old one
discrete components instead of using op amps
Right.
But you can't push 100+ watts through an op amp
So. Some parts in the speaker amp have to be discreet.
So maybe less discreet
any sound quality difference between the 96k hz one and the 44.1k hz one
listen to both and tell us
they all sound the same idk what im saying lol 😭 also 48k sounds the same too so im just ognna go 48k
You looking for sound or exporting an audio file?
nah im just listening to music
Oh ok
Is 70$ CAD good for the hd280 pro?
Those arent very good
See if you can save up and get a akg k361
Or find a Creative aurvana live!
sennheiser is incapable of closed backs
They really cant
even the 2 kilobuck HD820 literally sucks ass
DT770 also sucks ass
just beyer closed backs but worse
and like 10 times the price
15x and 5x or smth depending on which
aside from AE5 which is expensive which one of these are good cards? the integrated audio on my motherboard feels like pain
why do you need a sound card
if integrated audio is bad get a apple dongle
ez fix
apple expensive
not $20+?
no
its like 9$
they sell $20 for any other dongle...
and itll sound better than all of those sound cards that are 6 times its price
i dont like things sticking out tho
that's still at least twice as cheap as the cheapest card you sent on the list
you don't use cables in your pc?
bro why are you worried about such superficial things
I wouldn't say it sounds better
they'd have to be in the back of the motherboard
and?
its still more worth it
because i'm in ear hell.
usbc-usb a adapter for another 10 dollars
how does it sticking out of your board affect anything
cable spaghetti
still cheaper
every cable you use is something sticking out of your pc
you mean internal USB?
no he means an adapter from usb c to usb a
it's a metal box dangling off of it with even more things off of that
it isn't
thats not what i meant...
now then you can plug it in front IO
its literally smaller than headset cables
thats what I meant tho
and you mistook it as something else
bro dont you use a mouse and keyboard
those stick out too
