Alright I guess this is the best channel to ask this, so my car is a skoda fabia, awesome car, economic, the suspension is shit but it gets me from point a to point b. my problem is that the prevoius owner broke an aux cable inside the header (I don't know if its called that), somehow she fried the 12 volt smoke thingy and the usb only receives signal from new iPhone's (nothing that has a button on it works). however it can read pen drives, I managed to get a bunch of music from a friend so im good there but I also like hearing to a lot of podcast and since those are uploaded weekly I really need a way to just download new episodes. so does anyone know of a good virus free way to download podcast from either youtube or spotify to an mp3 file?

#

I know I also put half a bible in there about the problem but if by any chance someone have had the car and knows of a way to fix the 12 volt or a way to make the usb woek for other devices that would also be nice

past void
#

Any way to fix?

lean grove
past void
#

Ok so like

#

How would I go about that

lean grove
#

You buy glue

past void
#

Do you have a video ?

lean grove
#

You pipe glue onto the broken part

#

You smush them together

past void
#

Wait what

lean grove
#

You don't use it until the glue is cured

past void
#

I assume this is something broke in the voice coils

lean grove
#

Oh I thought the dust cover popped.off

past void
#

Nono

lean grove
#

It's hard to tell from the video

past void
#

It’s scraping when pushing the cover down

lean grove
#

Yeah idk. Take it out. See if something popped out and smush it back in.

past void
#

When even pressure is applied

#

Seems fine

#

I have it out alr

lean grove
#

Idk then. 😔

molten lotus
#

Weird error

#

It shouldn't do anything if the voicecoil broke

#

yet it moves but a little

#

If one were looking for a reasonably priced audio interface that could conceivably be considered professional, what would you recommend?

unique wind
#

ive been using my computer monitor speakers for a while and forgot, i was just enjoying the music even tho it sounds bad

#

i guess im not an audiophile because im listening to music instead of listening to my gear

molten lotus
unique wind
#

well yah same

#

i’m just too lazy and frugal to buy and put new speakers on my desk

#

moved my jamo c93ii to my tv a while ago

molten lotus

any good mics for 120$ usd, was looking at Blueyeti dk if it's any good

You can get an entry-level interface, budget mounting hardware and a decent mic for that much

I ordered RGB lights to go in my mic 🙂

unique wind
#

dynamic overrated

weak rapids
#

Tbh I agree, unless you are in one of the noisiest environments condensers will be better, but only if you know how to use a noise gate

unique wind
#

super cardioid condenser is the way

weak rapids
#

Fuck yeah

unique wind
#

cad e100, earthworks ethos

#

dont tell klaus tho because he doesnt believe in mics that cost more than $50

weak rapids
#

Lmao

#

Honestly idk how I feel about the earthworks Ethos

#

Compared to its dynamic competition of the SM7B and RE20 its amazing

#

But compared to other condensers, to me it ends up sounding like a typical dynamic broadcast mic

unique wind
#

it's a little warm and most other condensers have a treble boost

#

it's kinda niche, it's only a good pick if you want that exact form factor and pickup pattern

weak rapids
#

For me, it doesnt make sense to get it if you are looking for condensers, you are looking for condensers for a more bright less broadcasty mic

unique wind
#

it's for people who want a sm7b but dont like the way the sm7b sounds

weak rapids
#

Meanwhile RE20 exists

#

Remember when the Ethos was like $600

unique wind
#

re20 is my favorite dynamic but i still prefer ethos

unique wind
weak rapids
#

Extra half a cent in black colouring = +$300 in market value

unique wind
#

i can only assume it would because the steel wasnt selling well

#

you can find the black version for $350 sometimes now and it's tempting

weak rapids
#

Its usually around 500 Canadian rupees here

unique wind
#

500 canadian sheckles

stable ermine
#

anyone here ever used a clip on mic before? idk what to buy since everything looks the same with different price tags

unique wind
#

ive never used a lav mic so i dont know either

#

dang the interface i want costs 300 american freedom eagles dead

weak rapids
#

Rodecaster Pro 2 uses

1: professionals
2: noobs who dont know how to EQ and just use the installed presets

unique wind
#

not wrong

#

if youre not using it to mic 4 people in a podcast why are you using it

#

what i want is a universal audio volt 276 simply because it looks cool and it has an analog compressor, no other reasons

#

i mean come on it looks awesome

weak rapids
#

The audient evo 4 looks so clean and slick

unique wind
#

yeah evo is clean

#

if youre going for minimal

molten lotus
#

i don't like the evo

#

its cleanliness is completely ruined by the stupid placement of sockets

#

also the buttons are cheap

#

and the stupid green mic mute button

unique wind
#

it's not my favorite either but if people want a tiny black box with a clean mic preamp then it works

#

it's got the youtuber recommendation effect but at least it isnt outright bad like the scarlet

molten lotus
#

yeah it isn't bad

#

i just don't like the small things it has

#

imo the knob should have been faced towards the user

#

and the thing should have stood straight

#

with sockets at the back

unique wind
#

i dont like knobs that can infinitely spin

molten lotus
#

why not

unique wind
#

i like having an obvious beginning and end

#

and notched steps inbetween

#

for my ocd

molten lotus
#

i mean you do its just indicated by the light

unique wind
#

yeah i still dont like it

#

feels digital

molten lotus
#

i don't know if it's different performance wise but software wise infinite rotation is a lot more compatible with everything

unique wind
#

yeah i get it i just dont like the way it feels personally

#

i like heavy metal boxes and notchy knobs

#

and clicky noises

#

i love when you turn on an old amp and it goes CLICK

molten lotus

my modern amp does that too

unique wind

when you order something and it doesnt arrive same day

#

if i order something from the bestbuy 25 minutes away from me then there's a chance itll be delivered like 2 hours later

#

they have a program that's similar to uber eats except people pick up your packages and deliver them

#

that's the way it seems to me anyway, a guy pulled up in his car blasting music and dropped it and left

weak rapids
#

Like I swear every city around me has an opening but NONE of the 3 stores in mine has a single opening

unique wind
#

it's okay maybe if you work three fulltime jobs 7 days a week, only drink tap water, meal prep every meal, never eat out, never go on vacation, and never indulge in any luxuries for the next 25 years then maybe youll be able to afford a 1500 sq ft house

#

nah thats generous maybe half of a studio apartment

#

that face when my parents bought this house in 2007 for $60,000 and now it's worth $150,000 but no work has been done to it at all

#

and minimum wage has only risen from $7.15 to $7.50

#

i love the housing market

weak rapids
#

Here in my city which is known for its shitholeness, average wage is $17 CAD and average house price is $800k, even in the sketchiest areas its like $500k

unique wind
#

$500K for a house that looks like it went through a gang turf war

weak rapids

Yeah basically

Is that a schiit DVD player

#

This has gotta be an early April fool's joke

unique wind

it could go either way

i can see schiit making an april fools joke about that but i can also see them genuinely adding a CD player to one of their products

lean grove

Might also just be a super limited run.

unique wind
#

@lean grove thoughts on the jotunheim?

weak rapids
unique wind
#

is it an actual contender for a decent warm balanced amp or is it crap

weak rapids
#

Kind of cold

lean grove
#

Uhh I haven't heard it. But the Jotunheim 2 seems fine if you want clean and warm.

#

Just don't get the first one because it's the opposite of warm by a wide margin.

molten lotus
unique wind
#

yeah theres no chance a schiit cd player would sell in large volume in 2023

a good amount of people still use cds but not enough and not frequently enough for that

coax is a cringe connection

molten lotus

does it have a dac built in

weird to me, and I am someone who has 2 cd players in his system (Sony CDP-337ESD and a Quad 99 CDP-2)

yes

i already told you i understand that it supports the same formats and bitrate that optical does

i just dont like the connection

personal thing not an objective thing

If I want a fun headset mainly for gaming, should I go for the hd560s or hd599?

So I've taken up critical listening recently as a part of my job (I'm learning audio design and live mixing) and as I've been paying more attention across several pairs of headphones - I daily drive SteelSeries Arctis 7s, but I've listened to Sennheiser HD 280s, Shure SE846 IEMs, and Airpod Pro gen 2 - across all but the Shures at the low end there is almost always a really high frequency whine when the sub frequencies are really going. What causes this? Thanks!

Apologies I was out for a while, yep I have em on hand

#

Yes the tuning is literally dead on my preference, slightly more bass than the Lea

#

I prefer is sm more than my chu

haughty girder
#

the isolation isn't as good as either but that's to be expected given it's actually a hollow plastic shell

#

the white one + a tripowin zonie cable looks so good too

molten lotus
molten lotus
molten lotus
#

Looks pretty alr

#

Sleek

haughty girder
#

I do like how it looks over both of the other 20 dollar kings

#

CCA CRA+ and Salnotes Zero

#

that said yea the cable costs more than the iems

#

the stock cable is pretty bad

molten lotus
#

Other than the fact KZ engineers where dumb enough to call the Linglong(or Linlong) an open back design even tho there's no front vent and thr weird crack ish sound from thr driver when you insert it the non removable cable weird pressure bass variation based on insertion depth and the slightly muddy midbass the linglong(or linlong) is just better sounding than the other 20 dollar iems.

unique wind
#

the tuning is fine but they’re ugly and feel like they’d break if subjected to any pressure

#

do the wan’er have that same weightless cheap feeling?

haughty girder
#

they're really light

#

as for the cheap feeling, it's still a hollow thin plastic shell

#

but I'd expect it to take some pressure

unique wind
#

if they feel like other smooth plastic traditionally shaped iems it’s probably fine

haughty girder
#

they do

#

it's not worse than say, a QKZ VK4

unique wind
#

salnotes kinda feel like a happy meal toy

haughty girder
#

isn't the plastic part like slightly rubberized?

#

I don't remember anymore

molten lotus
#

i did roomeq to flat

#

the treble still haunts me to this day

unique wind
haughty girder
#

Either way I can say that the 18cad I paid for Wan'er was worth it lmao

unique wind
#

the black plastic part just feels like glossy plastic iirc

haughty girder
#

basically what happened was I broke my leas

unique wind
#

not rubberized

haughty girder
#

Well

#

I had to open one side up and resolder the connector

#

then epoxy'd it together

#

then realized that the connector was flipped

#

so opened up the other side

#

but by that point I was so done with em

#

the stock lea cable is worse than chu's cable

real wasp
#

any good way to fix an iem plug on the earphone itself?

haughty girder
#

so I had to get an tripowin zonie

#

oh.

#

What iem lmao

#

if it's the lea then I literally took a hacksaw to it

real wasp

unique wind
#

i use tangzu zetian wu all day

haughty girder
#

I was gonna get a pair but then decided wan'er looked better lmao

#

I heard good things abt both

unique wind
#

honestly yeah waner has more traditional tuning

#

smoother treble

#

based on frequency response anyway

haughty girder
#

it is

#

best I can describe it actually would be fluid

#

it's quite satisfying

#

not sharp like Chu

weak rapids
#

my brain is having fun with the treble on the hd560s

my brain is like "we're gonna make it seem worse today"

molten lotus

Flat speakers aka good speakers are a downwards smooth line

#

Dunno why I said slight but it's whatever

molten lotus
dry stratus
#

Imagine truly flat speakers, actually just a piece of paper making sound

molten lotus
#

You'd be surprised it's not that easy to get flat fr

#

Buy again trully flat sounding speakers have a downwards fr

#

And the prefered sound is just flat in room speakers so

#

Yeah

Physically flat speakers when

Paper thin

i mean at some point you have to acknowledge that frequency response is not the only thing that dictates how something sounds

#

it does nothing to show you how their soundstage or imaging will be for example

dry stratus
#

I mean, it does a little

molten lotus
#

He1 is overrated tho. Literally a luxury product meant to attract people with too much money too spend and too little time to care

unique wind
dry stratus
#

Considering boosting and reducing certain frequencies does help with imaging and soundstage, doesn’t show how it compares to others tho

unique wind
#

or lowering midbass to have the same effect

molten lotus
#

Roll off

#

Cringe

#

Open backs have more bass than non consumer closed back headphones

#

Especially if they're warm in the same time

#

like always

unique wind
#

yeah but if the driver doesn't have a lot of bass distortion then you can just elevate the subbass

dry stratus
#

There are enough with flat/boosted bass

molten lotus
#

are you mental

#

You sure about that man

#

there is no reason to think closed backs have more bass than open backs

unique wind

i only own two headphones so my opinion isnt worth very much

molten lotus

sorry

but to my ears my he400se have a lot more bass than my dt770 once i raised the he400se to linear

molten lotus

closed backs have more bass is a meme argument though straight up

unique wind

despite dt770 measuring more bass

lean grove
molten lotus

if you overdampen the fuck out of headphones they will have more bass

dry stratus
molten lotus
#

if anything closed backs make it harder for bass

molten lotus
unique wind

i dont really understand why youtubers say the dt770 is a bass cannon or great for edm/rap

#

it has almost no bass whatsoever

molten lotus
#

most consumer headphones don't have linear bass

dry stratus
#

Raycon is linear bass

molten lotus
#

they dont have them

#

when your next best comparison is razer headphones dt770 sound like they slam a fuck ton

unique wind

dry stratus

there's no warmth, slam, or rumble

#

no arguments there

#

I have a monarch MkII and even if I don't really like it I still own it.

unique wind

molten lotus

It simply isn't worth it

unique wind

i keep them to have more reference points

dry stratus

Just buy the most expensive iem that exists, higher cost = higher performance

molten lotus

i dont know what the max id pay for iems is

i have a really hard time justifying spending $1000 on iems if they're not custom molds

alright take their advice then

#

I am mentioning that 95% of internet based reviews are a great way to get off track

#

but if you want to I can't stop you

lament osprey
#

do you have any recommendations then?

molten lotus
#

I have recommendations to ask in a server called sonic visions

#

it is filled with people who worship speakers and have gone to a multitude of demoing rooms for speakers ranging between anywhere of 500 to 50k usd

#

being an open server you can actually have different people input their ideas about speakers as well rather than listening to one reviewer's thoughts

#

but don't ask them for headphone advice, they are really bad for that

lean grove
#

they recommend expensive headphones

molten lotus
#

yeah that's it

#

not necessarily good ones

you can get a fantastic setup for <$1000 but there are ridiculously expensive products in the speaker realm

need some help plz. i am changing pc cases to the hyte y40 and will be losing my sound card but i currently use the spdif input to get audio from my ps5. this seems like over kill and was wondering if a simple spdif to usb adaptor would do the same job?

molten lotus
#

I know there are usb to spdif outputs but I didn't know there were spdif inputs to usb

#

maby a short sound card with spdif in?

molten lotus
#

those certainly exist

#

by the way I was not claiming spdif input usb cards don't exist, was just remarking I didn't know of them if they did

molten lotus
#
