In Ear Monitors
the word for earbuds that are actually ok
Oh ok
based
Any good microphones then?
dont see anything wrong with the one klaus recommended
its a step above fifine stuff
but personally i prefer the samson go mic portable bc its small and more designed for long range
Idk which was a headset and which was a mic
that has lots of pickup tho
google?
dis
I’m dumb sorry
nah don’t apologize, klaus is angsty
Away from computer right now
right
lies
Mobile
anything that can run discord is a computer enough to google
Not my phone
what is a phone
Google it lmao
thanks
I can’t on my phone because my parents blocked it
your parents blocked google?
poor choices
use yandex
or some cursed engine for absolutely unfiltered and unhinged results
give yourself a good childhood trauma
They blocked all search
shouldn't be possible
sign up for bard or something
yandex is blocked?
bing
yahoo
duckduckgo
use mojeek
its unfiltered
and cursed
how about amazon itself
i don't take responsibility if mojeek shows you traumatizing items
search the item on amazon and even if the item isnt on amazon itsll show you similar stuff
I don’t have a place to search things
My parents blocked it
amazon too?
I’d have to get the app which requires me to send a notification to my parents for verification
how
Restriction settings on iPhone go too far
i think you need a gun more than headphones
what are headphones
weak gun
if your dac isn’t at least 130db snr you have a lofi setup just saying
yeah he prefers more noise than signal
That's why he hangs out in the Linus tech tips discord server
i hate audio
Alright I guess this is the best channel to ask this, so my car is a skoda fabia, awesome car, economic, the suspension is shit but it gets me from point a to point b. my problem is that the prevoius owner broke an aux cable inside the header (I don't know if its called that), somehow she fried the 12 volt smoke thingy and the usb only receives signal from new iPhone's (nothing that has a button on it works). however it can read pen drives, I managed to get a bunch of music from a friend so im good there but I also like hearing to a lot of podcast and since those are uploaded weekly I really need a way to just download new episodes. so does anyone know of a good virus free way to download podcast from either youtube or spotify to an mp3 file?
I know I also put half a bible in there about the problem but if by any chance someone have had the car and knows of a way to fix the 12 volt or a way to make the usb woek for other devices that would also be nice
Glue
You buy glue
Do you have a video ?
Wait what
You don't use it until the glue is cured
I assume this is something broke in the voice coils
Oh I thought the dust cover popped.off
Nono
It's hard to tell from the video
It’s scraping when pushing the cover down
Yeah idk. Take it out. See if something popped out and smush it back in.
Idk then. 😔
Weird error
It shouldn't do anything if the voicecoil broke
yet it moves but a little
If one were looking for a reasonably priced audio interface that could conceivably be considered professional, what would you recommend?
ive been using my computer monitor speakers for a while and forgot, i was just enjoying the music even tho it sounds bad
i guess im not an audiophile because im listening to music instead of listening to my gear
While I can enjoy music on shitty speakers I enjoy it more on higher quality speakres
well yah same
i’m just too lazy and frugal to buy and put new speakers on my desk
moved my jamo c93ii to my tv a while ago
any good mics for 120$ usd, was looking at Blueyeti dk if it's any good
You can get an entry-level interface, budget mounting hardware and a decent mic for that much
I ordered RGB lights to go in my mic 🙂
pog
Never EVER get a blue yeti
If you want to reject background noise go for an xm8500 and M track solo, if you want a condenser C-1 and M track solo
dynamic overrated
Tbh I agree, unless you are in one of the noisiest environments condensers will be better, but only if you know how to use a noise gate
super cardioid condenser is the way
Fuck yeah
cad e100, earthworks ethos
dont tell klaus tho because he doesnt believe in mics that cost more than $50
Lmao
Honestly idk how I feel about the earthworks Ethos
Compared to its dynamic competition of the SM7B and RE20 its amazing
But compared to other condensers, to me it ends up sounding like a typical dynamic broadcast mic
it's a little warm and most other condensers have a treble boost
it's kinda niche, it's only a good pick if you want that exact form factor and pickup pattern
For me, it doesnt make sense to get it if you are looking for condensers, you are looking for condensers for a more bright less broadcasty mic
it's for people who want a sm7b but dont like the way the sm7b sounds
re20 is my favorite dynamic but i still prefer ethos
i do i remember when they wanted $700 for the black version still after they dropped the steel to $400
Extra half a cent in black colouring = +$300 in market value
i can only assume it would because the steel wasnt selling well
you can find the black version for $350 sometimes now and it's tempting
Its usually around 500 Canadian rupees here
500 canadian sheckles
anyone here ever used a clip on mic before? idk what to buy since everything looks the same with different price tags
ive never used a lav mic so i dont know either
dang the interface i want costs 300 american freedom eagles
Rodecaster Pro 2 uses
1: professionals
2: noobs who dont know how to EQ and just use the installed presets
not wrong
if youre not using it to mic 4 people in a podcast why are you using it
what i want is a universal audio volt 276 simply because it looks cool and it has an analog compressor, no other reasons
i mean come on it looks awesome
The audient evo 4 looks so clean and slick
i don't like the evo
its cleanliness is completely ruined by the stupid placement of sockets
also the buttons are cheap
and the stupid green mic mute button
it's not my favorite either but if people want a tiny black box with a clean mic preamp then it works
it's got the youtuber recommendation effect but at least it isnt outright bad like the scarlet
yeah it isn't bad
i just don't like the small things it has
imo the knob should have been faced towards the user
and the thing should have stood straight
with sockets at the back
i dont like knobs that can infinitely spin
why not
i mean you do its just indicated by the light
i don't know if it's different performance wise but software wise infinite rotation is a lot more compatible with everything
yeah i get it i just dont like the way it feels personally
i like heavy metal boxes and notchy knobs
and clicky noises
i love when you turn on an old amp and it goes CLICK
thats lit
has to think about it lmao
it measures if you are worthy
Its a 93 computer loading
gotta push the power button and then go make coffee while it boots
I could actually do that with my old pc from like 3 years ago, no SSD
my father was still doing that around 3-4 years ago too
he was convinced a ssd is a waste of money until i bought him one
and now he refuses to use a computer that doesnt have one
hes rocking my handed down parts
r5 1600, 2x8gb 2666mhz, gtx 1050ti
uses it for bluestacks and facebook games
gotta have a boot time so fast that it's done booting before your monitor is fully connected
that's when you know youre good
That moment when you buy something from Amazon at 12 am and it says “arriving tomorrow” and then you wake up and realize that its not tomorrow yet
when you order something and it doesnt arrive same day

if i order something from the bestbuy 25 minutes away from me then there's a chance itll be delivered like 2 hours later
they have a program that's similar to uber eats except people pick up your packages and deliver them
that's the way it seems to me anyway, a guy pulled up in his car blasting music and dropped it and left
Bro for the past 3 months ive been checking daily for openings at the nearby Best Buy
URGENTLY HIRING!!!
(looking for people with 4 years of previous job experience and a college degree to work this minimum wage unskilled labor position)
(hasnt replied to their 100 indeed applicants)
Like I swear every city around me has an opening but NONE of the 3 stores in mine has a single opening
it's okay maybe if you work three fulltime jobs 7 days a week, only drink tap water, meal prep every meal, never eat out, never go on vacation, and never indulge in any luxuries for the next 25 years then maybe youll be able to afford a 1500 sq ft house
nah thats generous maybe half of a studio apartment
that face when my parents bought this house in 2007 for $60,000 and now it's worth $150,000 but no work has been done to it at all
and minimum wage has only risen from $7.15 to $7.50
i love the housing market
Here in my city which is known for its shitholeness, average wage is $17 CAD and average house price is $800k, even in the sketchiest areas its like $500k
$500K for a house that looks like it went through a gang turf war
Yeah basically
in an impoverished neighborhood
Lined with the smell of weed
But hey, could be worse, could be Vancouver
Cheapest place in Vancouver is a 400sq/ft apartment for $300k
pshh we just gotta pull ourselves up by our bootstraps and work as hard as our boomer parents/grandparents did!
(they could afford to pay for their own university schooling and an apartment with their minimum wage part time job)
(their house is worth 25x more than what they bought it for)
My driving instructors dad bought a house for $17k in North Toronto with his entry level job of $9 a year now the house is $2mil and the same entry level Job pays $60k
it could go either way
i can see schiit making an april fools joke about that but i can also see them genuinely adding a CD player to one of their products
Might also just be a super limited run.
@lean grove thoughts on the jotunheim?
Pretty cool Norse World
is it an actual contender for a decent warm balanced amp or is it crap
Kind of cold
Uhh I haven't heard it. But the Jotunheim 2 seems fine if you want clean and warm.
Just don't get the first one because it's the opposite of warm by a wide margin.
it has to be
yeah theres no chance a schiit cd player would sell in large volume in 2023
a good amount of people still use cds but not enough and not frequently enough for that
"decent warm balanced"
you want warm, you buy equaliser
end of q1 2023 apparently
the virgin objectivist fears the chad subjective amplifier analyzer
@lean grove oh my god it's real
It'll have a USB output to use with USB DACs
can't really see the point in that as the typical "audiophile" who'd use a cd player would probably know the bandwidth for redbook CD is fine via optical or coax lol
and it has 2 usb inputs to output spdif
coax is a cringe connection
does it have a dac built in
weird to me, and I am someone who has 2 cd players in his system (Sony CDP-337ESD and a Quad 99 CDP-2)
i dont care if it supports the same formats and bitrate as optical
coax is cringe in all forms
coax based
How is it cringe? I don't understand
Dear fucking God
usb, optical, hdmi, or go home
rca is fine too
but giant oversized for no reason xlr cables are fun
yes
i already told you i understand that it supports the same formats and bitrate that optical does
i just dont like the connection
personal thing not an objective thing
Coaxial digital IS RCA
the socket and plug is the same
in the hifi world it isn't a twist/screw type thing like BNC or F-type
oh i didnt know that
😄
i hate coaxial so much that ive never even so much as looked at a coax connection on any of my gear
Your equipment will likely have it somewhere
i pretend it isnt there
hahaha
i actually genuinely didnt know that it was different from the screw in coaxial connection used in homes
ive never looked at it
In this day and age it's not really needed
Most AV gear is HDMI or it has optical ins and outputs
yeah i use optical for my avr
usb for computer
im still gonna hate on coax though, i cant shift my opinion now
im locked in
😄
So I don’t run my microphone through XLR input but could I get the same control xlr microphones have with a pc program?
yeah xlr is just a connector
you can process a usb mic just like a xlr one in software
Any recommendations on software I can use
virtual cable, obs, equalizer apo
various plugins
you’ll need to watch youtube tutorials
Okay
Thank you
So will elgato let me use their program without owning their product?
No you have to have a product that connects to it which would be a Wave Mic, Wave XLR, or Stream Deck +
Rip
Ye hanks for the information though I’m just trying to make my mic sound better because I just loved and now live in a room with my brother
sorry better question. how good are the sony WHCH720N Wireless headphones?
i can’t find measurements for the 720n but the 710n do not look good
Oh it's beautiful
I badly want to get a schiit (anything) but like, damn import costs make it absolutely not worth it lol
I'm eyeballing a Jotunheim with multibit dac on ebay, wondering if I should just ignore my budget and go for that (I have really, really good spending habits)
also new schiit dropped recently
Anyone have an option on the yamaha yht5960u
is it silver? i regret not going with silver when i bought my schiit
the silver looks soooo nice
gear mounted ^^
pog
yeah it is
hell ya
The listing has 75 watchers and counting though so, well, we shall see if I can bag it
But I aint gonna go over £400 for it I think lol
the hd560s sounds amazing but im just not sure I like hearing so much of my keyboard clicks and mouse clicks
time to build a custom keyboard that you like the sound of
first i gotta get a new PSU cause this one is aggressive AF
also I found out my mic problems
for some reason my Reaper plugins just randomly... stop working
Meh it's fine
Blue yeti nano?
Good nuf
Also looks good and has nice software
There are better sounding options, but good UX > good sound for most people who want a mic under $100
eh i would never recommend a yeti as a previous owner
especially now where the USB Mic market is so much bigger and better
It's all about price
If something is cheap enough eventually it becomes good value
still waiting for Yetis to be cheap enough lmao
the cheapest Yeti in Canadian Rupees is currently $99 for the Nano but even then its on Sale
and honestly the Snowballs sound basically identical sometimes better for less
The snowball is very limiting in terms of mounting options
Didn't you post that boom box like two months ago
I rebuilt the tape mechanism and replaced some caps
you should post it once per day to annoy nils
okay... i deleted the reaper plugins, redid them and now it works
but i also did that last time and it didnt
If I want a fun headset mainly for gaming, should I go for the hd560s or hd599?
ignore the 599 entirely
sennheiser hd560s if you want open back, akg k361 or k371 if you want closed back
the akgs will have noticeably more bass if that's fun to you
you are missing the HE400SE or beyerdynamic dt880 for gaming
I assumed 599 would be decent cause it seems to be very similar to the 598 which was popular
is there a difference between the k361 and k371?
i dont like the he400se after owning it myself so i dont recommend it anymore
dt880 i havent heard but it seems like it's only a recommendation for those who are insistent on getting something beyerdynamic
yeah I would never go beyer again
had 990 pro for a few days and it felt like heaven but god the treble
and that damn coiled cable
the k371 is built with higher quality materials and has more bass
headphones for people with hearing damage
*causing hearing damage
So I've taken up critical listening recently as a part of my job (I'm learning audio design and live mixing) and as I've been paying more attention across several pairs of headphones - I daily drive SteelSeries Arctis 7s, but I've listened to Sennheiser HD 280s, Shure SE846 IEMs, and Airpod Pro gen 2 - across all but the Shures at the low end there is almost always a really high frequency whine when the sub frequencies are really going. What causes this? Thanks!
the treble is definitely all there.
Btw how is the kanto sub8? Worth the 330€ price Tag?
kinda wanna get one of these
cool stuff

I was looking at the OPC again and figured out how to read the text lol
very old page
I love how they put the basic mouse and keyboard in the specs
Remember the OPC? Apparently, the gorgeous music-focused PC has been successful enough to reach its third generation. And like its predecessors, the latest Orange OPC is a sweet combo of tech and design. As before, it uses Orange Amp's iconic form factor as the computer casing (complete with a retro wood, tolex, and basketweave cab),
3rd Generation include a third-gen Ivy Bridge processor, up to 16GB of RAM, your choice of Nvidia 650 ti or AMD HD 7750 graphics cards
Lmao
Oldschool save disks
It has an integrated speaker amp?
I wanna see dank pods review one of these
it's an okay sub but that's a high price for it
in the states it goes for around 220 euro
would a car subwoofer sound fine indoors
Depends on your room ig lol
my current subwoofer sounds good
in half my roof
but its half dead
its a old samsung home theatre thing
i got for very cheap
I would honestly expect it to sound better in a room than a car
My bedroom has water connection for toilet and sink for some reason…
need
I sleep in the living room and use my bedroom as closet
And turned my actual storage room into a kitchen
where would i even put a subwoofer lol
And my kitchen is the washing room
Under your feet
Like a true gamer
its behind my monitor rn
For gaming, how are the Hyperx Cloud Alphas?
gonna attach it to a Blue Radius Shock mount
does it need a shock mount?
I asked if it needed it
99% of the mics don't benefit from shock mounts, this is a vintage so it could probably make use of one
but I wanted to ask regardless
weak arm
Not terrible, just a bit too dark
Bass is good for me tho
Lacking bass = good for me
Sub bass
It looks like they messed up, forgot target isn’t flat
Some people do still say “perfectly flat is target”
it is with speakers
ive never heard headphones tuned that way but i want to
seems like itd sound very foreign
a friend of mine absolutely loves his dt1770s and they have such a weird frequency response
makes me want to try them but im not willing to buy them myself
DAC/Amplifier are the ones that have a flat line
They look like a slightly better hd820 to me
Same dips, just less severe
i never noticed that similarity but its definitely there
yeah might make female/male voices sound off
still on the hunt for an open back headphone with both smooth treble tuning and elevated subbass
i basically want this
looks at a bunch and find one
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/?category=Headphones&manufacturer=&pp=1000&order=date
Give me 200hz and below upside down, and an extra 3-5db for 3-6k instead
too much midbass
i assure you
also what the fuck is that graph
just say you like harman
yeah i wanted to have the shelf start around 120hz but i got sick of trying to draw it right with my fingers
id have my shelf start at 80-100hz
Get a drawing tablet with a pen
im at work conpin
but maybe a good headphone could make use of it
That is not an excuse
it is
No
dont meticulously analyze my finger sketched graph like it's scientific
Just use your mouse in mspaint instead
i meant for headphones
but that looks good to me
too much bass for headphones tho
to get that much bass you would need xm5 levels of driver overdampening
lower the peak bass to like 70 on that graph and itd be great imo
we all know how that went
how did it go oh wise one klaus
basically i didn't want to listen to king crimson anymore
i think it's because your source chain is lofi
its a bluetooth headphone bro
yeah but you were probably using it in passive wired mode with your lofi chain and lofi ears
Apologies I was out for a while, yep I have em on hand
Yes the tuning is literally dead on my preference, slightly more bass than the Lea
I prefer is sm more than my chu
In the country so no reception
the isolation isn't as good as either but that's to be expected given it's actually a hollow plastic shell
the white one + a tripowin zonie cable looks so good too
It's a slightly downwards line.
Literally just garbage
I do like how it looks over both of the other 20 dollar kings
CCA CRA+ and Salnotes Zero
that said yea the cable costs more than the iems
the stock cable is pretty bad
You shouldn't be asking if something is "good for gaming" if you want it to sound correct or good you just ask for a good headphone if tou want to hear just footsteps and dumb shit like that just eq.
Other than the fact KZ engineers where dumb enough to call the Linglong(or Linlong) an open back design even tho there's no front vent and thr weird crack ish sound from thr driver when you insert it the non removable cable weird pressure bass variation based on insertion depth and the slightly muddy midbass the linglong(or linlong) is just better sounding than the other 20 dollar iems.
the salnotes feel very low quality to me
the tuning is fine but they’re ugly and feel like they’d break if subjected to any pressure
do the wan’er have that same weightless cheap feeling?
they're really light
as for the cheap feeling, it's still a hollow thin plastic shell
but I'd expect it to take some pressure
if they feel like other smooth plastic traditionally shaped iems it’s probably fine
salnotes kinda feel like a happy meal toy
isn't slight an understatement
i did roomeq to flat
the treble still haunts me to this day
i’ll have to grab them and double check but i don’t remember them having any part that feels rubberized
Either way I can say that the 18cad I paid for Wan'er was worth it lmao
the black plastic part just feels like glossy plastic iirc
basically what happened was I broke my leas
not rubberized
Well
I had to open one side up and resolder the connector
then epoxy'd it together
then realized that the connector was flipped
so opened up the other side
but by that point I was so done with em
the stock lea cable is worse than chu's cable
any good way to fix an iem plug on the earphone itself?
so I had to get an tripowin zonie
oh.
What iem lmao
if it's the lea then I literally took a hacksaw to it
linsoul kz zs 10 pro, i just noticed that the left side broke off
i superglued it back now and no, i wont throw them away
I thought it was slightly squishy
Just get some wan'er
i’ll let you know when i get up to my room and get them out
K
i use tangzu zetian wu all day
I was gonna get a pair but then decided wan'er looked better lmao
I heard good things abt both
honestly yeah waner has more traditional tuning
smoother treble
based on frequency response anyway
it is
best I can describe it actually would be fluid
it's quite satisfying
not sharp like Chu
my brain is having fun with the treble on the hd560s
my brain is like "we're gonna make it seem worse today"
I mean Ig whatever.
Flat speakers aka good speakers are a downwards smooth line
Dunno why I said slight but it's whatever
It's 20 bucks what do you want. They all suck at build quality. Chu has a metsl shell but it slso has a garbo non removablr cable
Imagine truly flat speakers, actually just a piece of paper making sound
You'd be surprised it's not that easy to get flat fr
Buy again trully flat sounding speakers have a downwards fr
And the prefered sound is just flat in room speakers so
Yeah
Ban on speakers when
Too much noise when neighbours are blasting disgusting folk music or dubstep with thin walls..
If I have a dimension that's only one single point it isn't even a dimension
Also
You can safely listen to volumes of 85dB for up to 8 hours
You can safely listen to volumes under 70dB indefinetly
Martin Logan or magnepan.
That's from an estimated in-room response. If you are in the near-field or have every reasonable surfaced damped then it's not gonna be downwards.
But just the downwards tilt is an artifact of the room
Not the speakers
So idk what you're tryna say
fixed the he400se
linear bass and they dont sound like the artist is singing into a plastic cup anymore
the upper treble is still piercing but that's a lot harder to fix
Still a turd
No headphone will reach perfecr treble since they're not even minimum phase after like 3khz lmao.
common headphones L
It is still thicker
i cant fix the sibilance and air frequency harshness without making them sound muffled so i gave up
Headphones > speakers
Because headphones don’t torture me with folkmusic from deaf elderly in a building with thin walls
K
conpin isnt a human being dont mind him
Iems>headphones
if he hears anything below 120hz he vomits instantaneously
iems are substantially less harsh sounding to me even if their frequency response shows they should have more treble
Correction
something to do with my ear shape fucks up headphones
i do have pointed ears like an elf
maybe that's why
theyre also huge
7 meter tall elf michael
I just decided at a point to join the ltt server. I'm not really into audiophile servers since people just ignote facts and get mad and ban me easily.
he400se actually slam if you raise the subbass to be linear wow
Closed back bass changes based on how you have your hair lmao
Have you considered being less argumentative
i mean i am listening to deadmau5
And open backs have like no bass
if you cant feel the bass listening to deadmau5 your headphones suck
Listen to wataten OP instead
1 hour version preferably
If people just ignore things and I have nothing to reason or take from them I don't really feel the nedd to be in those servers
i should listen to harsh hardcore frenchcore with these
itll probably give me permanent tinnitus
ah fuck it here we go
oh yeah it already hurts 0:04 in
i feel a headache forming
It's not like there's no one that I agree with it's that there's to many dumb people calling themselves audiophiles
i mean minebork
if you join a chat knowing it's full of subjective headphone lovers and just talk about how you hate headphones and subjective analysis nobody is gonna be nice to you
i do it too but they know im shitposting
I mean fair
Being an objectivist in the audiophile hobbt is a death sentence even if you're right
im like 85% objectivist but i think it's fun to gaslight yourself into psychoacoustics
I'm pretty much just an objectivist truly but I like to collect stuff even tho it's garbage
Someone: “good sound is subjective, my raycons have higher quality sound than your he1”
i mean at some point you have to acknowledge that frequency response is not the only thing that dictates how something sounds
it does nothing to show you how their soundstage or imaging will be for example
I mean, it does a little
He1 is overrated tho. Literally a luxury product meant to attract people with too much money too spend and too little time to care
adding extra treble to feign soundstage doesnt count imo
Considering boosting and reducing certain frequencies does help with imaging and soundstage, doesn’t show how it compares to others tho
or lowering midbass to have the same effect
What
Roll off
Cringe
Open backs have more bass than non consumer closed back headphones
Especially if they're warm in the same time
like always
yeah but if the driver doesn't have a lot of bass distortion then you can just elevate the subbass
There are enough with flat/boosted bass
are you mental
You sure about that man
there is no reason to think closed backs have more bass than open backs
Yeah Klaus are you stupid. You can't have real bass unless you have a sealed room and a rotary subwoofer which can extend literally to zero hz
You fucking idiot
An open back:
Kek
you need tactile transducers on your chair to rumble your ass with 10hz or youre not really experiencing the music just saying
sorry i forgot that turning the inverse phase into echo and reverting it back to your headphones made it better for bass
my bad
Smh my head Klaus when are you gonna learn to stop listening and just read graphs
i only own two headphones so my opinion isnt worth very much
sorry
Buy he6
but to my ears my he400se have a lot more bass than my dt770 once i raised the he400se to linear
closed backs have more bass is a meme argument though straight up
despite dt770 measuring more bass
Sounds like you just don't buy good things.
if you overdampen the fuck out of headphones they will have more bass
Bloated bass = more bass
if anything closed backs make it harder for bass
it isn't even bloated mostly its just midbass
i dont really understand why youtubers say the dt770 is a bass cannon or great for edm/rap
it has almost no bass whatsoever
most consumer headphones don't have linear bass
standards
Raycon is linear bass
they dont have them
when your next best comparison is razer headphones dt770 sound like they slam a fuck ton
They do, their standards are “sponsored by raycon, they sound like something costing 10x more”
No I do. That's the stuff I use. I just have some stuff I don't actually like thatcI just vuy to collect and measure. I think thr dt990 is shit but I own one. I don't really like any of the planar iems but have a good few of them
Dt770 and 1770 is basically just hd820 FR
dt990 is really shit
no arguments there
I have a monarch MkII and even if I don't really like it I still own it.
yeah i havent returned any headphones or iems ive bought
It simply isn't worth it
i keep them to have more reference points
Just buy the most expensive iem that exists, higher cost = higher performance
More cash=more details
i dont know what the max id pay for iems is
i have a really hard time justifying spending $1000 on iems if they're not custom molds
Truly disgusting
probably $500 is my hard cap
I don’t have earholes
if there's something amazing at $550 id consider it obviously but that's really pushing it
I just have pores in my skin to absorb the sound waves like some alien
That’s why I don’t sweat
Yeah that's pretty fair. As I said I don't even like the Monarch MKII and knew that wheb buying it. I literally just wanted to have it.
or speakers
Stax 9000 you mean?
nah, vintage stax
thieaudio monarch?
The mkII
It's not that I hate it or anything
But 1000 dolars ?
I mean
I never believed it was worth it
price/performance falls of steeply past 500$
I literally just wanted to have it

and 200$
id say aft-
don't have one lol
will arias do
most of the iems worth buying are under $300
Get one, like a true weeb
i got them in my ears now
i need more clean power
money'nt
Sell your kidneys
if i go over around 2/3 on my iemagni it starts to get harsh
if this fucks my algorithm im killing you btw
Sure
tbf this is already probably over 85db so do i really
After likr 500-600 dolars in iems it really isn't about being a good or correct iem anymore, it's a different market literally for fun.
I’ll sacrifice myself to the klaus god
marrying your mom too
Sure
You’ll be grilled tho
And neatly cut into small pieces and turned into vegan meat made out of human
I mean say the Helios is fine but it isn't even interesting nor correct enough
lets be real
Get sugmas
Also why is there so much shit coming with inverted polarity
diminishing returns with iems starts at $25 and it's basically capped at $200
Also buy my srd-7
everything above that is just fun
premium build quality, designs, limited runs
trying different driver combinations for fun
Look for a he6, sell it to me for 3500
planar
Honestly endgame for most people would br a hexa with a after market cable and nice foam tips and eq and that's it.
But people reject that kind of idea
in my opinion if something has to be eqd it cant be endgame
im not opposed to eq, im using it rn
but if something requires eq it's not endgame
Well nothing is yet trully perfect fr so you much use SOME eq if you want perfection
i wonder how much i can raise the subbass on these before they get pissed off
Wait for Xmems iems
Flawless EQ
Any iem you want
That's why there never is an endgame
well i added a 10db <60hz shelf and theyre not falling apart
im not using them like this because the vocals are nowhere near loud enough
but the driver isnt falling apart
I am thinking about that harmonic distortion
you can get away with a lot of bass distortion before it's noticeable
Eh
what speakers do you use?
Genelecs
genelec monitor moment
ive never tried monitors
With speakers it isn't about collecting for me anymore
and the speakers i use are not linear
i have jamo c93ii and a starke sw10 sub
powered by an aiyima t9 hybrid class d tube amp with jan 5654w tubes
I won't shill a few thousands to collect speakers that are not good
Hmm
i honestly got the jamos solely because i loved the way they looked
still do im just over it for the most part
I see
Assuming you don't diy.
The amps inside are also far from the best.
You got passive gennies?
mr big spender over here
same i have 6 figure passive income
mmm planar subbass
honestly not that much for a table
excluding the rare few records that have better vinyl masters yeah
i can see myself buying vinyl for decoration
but not actually using them
what amp do you use for the gennies

Idk, man. Gut feeling tells me you're being dishonest about something.
Who knows indeed
Maybe you're someone who wants to say he owns all these cool things without actually owning all this stuff.
Is your friend the one with the passive genelecs
i think what he actually owns are 7hz salnotes zero
which is why he seemed offended when i said their build quality is terrible
Tin t3 actually
passive genelecs kekw
Hey! So i just got my new headphone amp for my DT990s since my last one broke. This amp has a gain switch levels 1,2 and 3. Can someone explain this to me in layman’s terms ? I have it on 3 because the others are not loud enough with the volume cranked. Is this okay ?
WOW btw this amp makes my headphones sooo much better than the cheap one i had

Gain is pretty much different loudness options for the amp. Level 1 is something you might wanna use for earbuds or really efficient headphones. That way you don't blow your ears out.
Issue is, you can have different levels of plastic crap. Salnotes is easily the worst of the three $20 kings
Dare I say CCA CRA+ (kz) has the best and Wan'er is closer to the CRA+ than the salnotes
and moondrop chu mod isn't exactly difficult
Truthear Hola is just somewhere in the middle it's not great it's not horrible either
Thank you !
Is this the place to talk about DAWs
I'm new to ardour I was wondering if anyone had some handy trusted guides for it
I am looking for a recommendation for a clear pair of over-ear headphones
Best to give a budget
ah yes below 200$
Thoughts on the value of Moondrop Arias in 2023 compared to cheaper competition?
thanks
I highly rec hd600. You can try to find them used around $200-300
@lean grove where are ur passive genelecs bro
@spice dust they're at my friend's house
lmaooo
ill show them to you as soon as my phone charges

would i need any equipment to run this? i don't know really anything about audio equipment. i plan to hook up a tv and a turntable and a sub maybe in the future
here is the turntable if this info is needed
https://www.audio-technica.com/en-us/at-lp60xbt

you would need a speaker amplifier
also those look high end but only go down to like 40hz that's pretty cringe if they are as expensive as they look
If someone could help me troubleshoot my audio issues I'd appreciate it.
What are the issues?
built incredibly well, paint does chip off with rough handling, it's just that I'd argue for most people, sound quality between like wan'er and aria is similar enough it may not be worth it. Other options like dunu titan s also outclass the aria
I'd only recommend the aria if you like how it looks nowadays
im positive paint chipping off is a qc issue
it only happens with some pairs
is there any aliexpress $2 mic that is usable?
there's probably a $2 lapel mic out there
I want the Lindsol (or w/e) 7hz timeless (color and price), but I'm a bit attracted to the higher bass response of the HiFiGo 7HZ Timeless. Should I just get that?
arent they the same product
I just said the difference. Also the hifigo has .78mm rather than the coax
HUH?
probably none you can get for 2$ because of imports and shipping
coax?
where the fuck did you get the measurement for both?
7hz timeless is 7hz timeless
regardless of the retailer
Oh my bad its the 7HZ Timeless AE
oh bruh
"Low frequency +3dB: We retained the organic and pristine vocal performance of the original Timeless. However, the low frequency region increases by approximately 3dB, which improves dynamics, transient, and bass impact. High frequency is cleaner, clearer, and smoother. Soundstage presentation is more three-dimensional and has larger headroom. It is a long-awaiting improvement over the original Timeless."
well both sites sold this product so just get one that has cheaper shipping fees i guess
Amazon prime
yea get that or whatever
you gonna get the same product from both retailers
and i did notice that linsould sell their stuff on amazon as well
no it's not, the paint isn't actually that thick and does chip if impacted with another object with enough pressure
and it doesn't help it's actually paint
Looks like they do but the other retailer is overnight so I'll probably end up doing that
which is nowhere as durable as say, printing or anodization
you can scratch it off but chipping of entails something else
my aria also has scrapped off paint from dropping it a few times, yet the pain does not chip off
Question about recording on cassette: if I record on one side of a cassett am I ok to play that side before I record the side B?
if you didn't know, aliexpress dodges taxes and import fee, i was just asking out of so many $2 mic on there, is anyone good? i bought this one btw: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005058575189.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.75521802KOSWms
probably gonna be crap but its $2
it dodges the tax, not the import's duty fee
they don't charge you money for the item but they charge you for the service the import's duty goes through
in canada anything under $20 will not be subjected to import fees, in us it's like $500 or something. they'll declare the item to worth under $20 even if it's a $100 item
i buy so many stuff from aliexpress, never got charged afterward
it does dodge import fees
if an item is declared under 20 bucks you dont get charged
Raycon
Yippee
I absolutely murdered my 'budget' but that was more of a suggestion than anything
yippee!
So i have a h&k amp it has a 3.5mm jack but for what do i use that port
Well, is it marked as an input or output?
It aint marked
Its just there
Well, would be best to refer to its manual to see what it is then
Hoping to get some help here (maybe this is wrong channel). I have a LG monitor (27GR95QE-B) and a Nivdia 3080, connected via Display Port. The monitor has a Headphone out Jack. The PC recognizes the Monitors Audio input, but no sound comes from the audio jack. I have made sure monitor is set to H/P Out, have uninstall and reinstalled the Nivida Audio drivers, and made sure that the speakers / headphones work when connected to the PC directly. No audio out when connected to monitor. What am i missing?
Looking for best headphones for gaming under 150$. Currently considering the DT 990 Pro or the HD 599, but open to any suggestions. Just explain to me why. Thanks!
Also lmk if I need any sort of extra hardware like dongles or something other than plugging into mobo
DT 880 Pro ig
Better than the 990 Pro and should be similarly priced
If not, AKG K361 or K371
Hd560s is what you want.
That's what this other audio discord said too actually
Thanks, will probably go with that
I've decided on a av receiver, and they're $320 on Amazon, so cheapish, and I can just get a sub if I don't think it has enough low end
feel free to take my advice or not but rather than deciding upon random items by yourself based on looks and price tags you should be asking people, if I had a dollar for every audio item I know that costed more than 500$ and sounded like trash I would have like 30$ allegedly, which is not much but it does say some things about the audio market
"only down to 40hz"
for 700$ floor standers
I can't comment on the speakers themselves but if you are handing out that much you will have a better time with a dedicated sub + some jbl 570s
Thats not a bad choice
A40 by Astro
zeos
They are great, wdym
there's better stuff out there than astros for $150
Best sound quality I’ve ever had
that doesnt mean much
that means more about your standards than it does of the headphones themselves
Any good recommendations for a rack mounted audio interface. Preferably with at least 10 inputs/outputs
ask in a pro audio server for that
okay
that'd be dope
has bunch of weird people spending unnecessary amounts of money on mics and interfaces
Second best I’d have to say is these nice turtle beach 600 wireless
hides my blue tube condenser under the desk
that really says a lot about your standards
even more than the last statement
that's fair, we are just trying to say there are better items than a40s available
koss porta pros, koss ksc75 are the ones that are cheaper
and there's about a dozen really cheap really good earbuds for like $20
For gaming and general listening?
yeah.
well. koss i wouldn't recommend for gaming. every time i've used them ive had a harder time telling whats coming from where
but for music and video they're the best cheap headphones
Any good wireless earbuds or headphones for travel? Like any with decent noise cancellation and good audio quality? Has to be Bluetooth cause iPhone (would be nice to also maybe use for pc or console if possible)
¯_(ツ)_/¯
if i need isolation for travel i just use earbuds
there's that new audeze maxwell which seems to be pretty good for wireless
Well you said like a dozen good earbuds for like $20, so more than one example would be appreciated
Raycon? I heard those are good, but idk
the number one thing that rayconn cares about is marketing. the number two is adding a stupid amount of bass
But some of my favorite YouTubers are sponsored by them, does that mean they promote a bad product
Damn
well. it means raycon is paying them a lot of money

Alright then
i've been looking at reviews for my decisions
issue is reviews aren't trustworthy
user reviews are as meaningful as their standards go
and professional reviews are either paid or use affilite links
99% of audio review sites rate literally every item 7-8 points
this particular speaker ranks high in everyone's budget speaker options for last year
alright take their advice then
I am mentioning that 95% of internet based reviews are a great way to get off track
but if you want to I can't stop you
do you have any recommendations then?
I have recommendations to ask in a server called sonic visions
it is filled with people who worship speakers and have gone to a multitude of demoing rooms for speakers ranging between anywhere of 500 to 50k usd
being an open server you can actually have different people input their ideas about speakers as well rather than listening to one reviewer's thoughts
but don't ask them for headphone advice, they are really bad for that
they recommend expensive headphones
who
I mean, for speaker people expensive headphones are budget audio equipment
you can get a fantastic setup for <$1000 but there are ridiculously expensive products in the speaker realm
would you then tell someone in the entry level to go to them for advice?
said who
need some help plz. i am changing pc cases to the hyte y40 and will be losing my sound card but i currently use the spdif input to get audio from my ps5. this seems like over kill and was wondering if a simple spdif to usb adaptor would do the same job?
I know there are usb to spdif outputs but I didn't know there were spdif inputs to usb
maby a short sound card with spdif in?
those certainly exist
by the way I was not claiming spdif input usb cards don't exist, was just remarking I didn't know of them if they did
maby this?
would probably work
got it ordered. hope it works audio has been my biggest troubleshooting problem but o so satisfying when you get it to work
