Oh no. It’s a new version of a well-established product that trades efficiency for convenience. But this time, it’s more than just being cool. It’s about cooling.

inland dome
#

So Im strategizing how Im gonna easily remove my cpu fans

civic reef
#

Also check what I pinged you for

inland dome
#

So I found this little thing, its a very solid, flat piece of metal with this hook on it that should be really good for applying some leverage outwards while I push the brackets upward if I just hook it under the bottom

#

One hand is gonna hold onto the tower so it doesnt move with the bracket, and Im gonna pinch the bracket Im removing between my thumb and that piece of metal, which should be infinitely easier than just using a fingernail

#

Since its such a sturdy piece of metal, and Im sure it wont bend while Im doing this, it will probably be even better than just using a flathead

#

Past that, its just installing the new fans and plugging the wires back into the daisy chain, which should be really easy to do

low sorrel
#

Gotta make use of the steam refund policy

And that 39.99 is 40% of my salary

inland dome

That alone is genuinely insane though, Warhorse needs to be credited for making KCD2 run as well as it does for how beautiful it is

#

But anyways I think Im overblowing the fan replacement difficulty, the brackets absolutely suck to get off without a decent tool (what I have now should make it very easy though), and aside from that it's just plugging the exact same cables into the exact same headers, plus an argb header thats even more accessible than the pwm

#

No clue why Im so anxious about doing it though, its literally one of the easiest things and I built the pc myself

When you apply EXPO/XMP that is what dictates the timings

minor herald
#

many board have boost options and offen they dont boot

minor herald

but they just set them to jedec

topaz veldt
#

Ok so untrue, but also, if thats true, then the board would set JEDEC, not some "I have secret internal tighter timings"

#

Also, I have this board, zentimings isn't showing some secret different tune from EXPO

#

Which poses @slim pebble original ask - whats unique in the Glacial that it tops the charts

my freinds board some of the xmp timings it did use others it did not and i have seen other cases where xmp timings are very ass and board still users them dispite its slower

#

it finishes up... final inspection comes - I was a little nervous they'd ask why there's a conduit into the shed and that its carrying fiber w/ power in the same conduit (can't make low voltage and high voltage, but I was prepared to argue its no voltage)... dude comes, talks about football for 90 secs with our guy, peeks his head out back literally 5-10 seconds, "Alright Mike - stay healthy looks good"

inland dome
#

I imagine city planning/modeling is where that would maybe be useful?

brisk jolt
inland dome
#

That or there's a super important building to model really intricately using some software that would actually be able to utilize all four ccds

inland dome
#

But man, nowadays its like you get Intel if you want a good cpu, Nvidia/Intel if you want a good gpu, and AMD if you're clinging on to the hope they actually release whatever crazy Redstone software that'll make it 500 times better than either of them for sure

keen wigeon
#

@topaz veldt I had the some sort of shit happen with our solar panels. It seemed like the city sent every inspector our to the house. It was a clown show. They all poked and prodded and walked around for 2 hours while some supervisor used my house as a training example.

One cpu can be better than another, one ccd better than another, one core better than another, one molecule of silicon being better than another, and so on, then there's how they get compared against each other that matters

My assumption is that (since I dont have any data to back up my claim, nor is any data on this available from my limited research), less than 20% of people outside of companies and laptops with pre-activated windows, have actually went out of their way to purchase legit licenses.

Maybe you could include "desktops with LEGIT pre activated windows" in this excemption critera. Most PixArt sensors are $3-$10. Most mice don’t have fancy technology and are $60+ and in reality you pay fuck all for the mouse and most money for a plastic mould and marketing

#

The only mouse I’ve see lately that actually has new technology to give an expense is the super strike

inland dome
#

Right, most mice are literally just charging for RND, if that

#

Thats best case actually

livid flame
#

Razer have a department to recode PixArt because they believe they refine it better. However most new Razer mice lines have sensor fails until v3 onwards

inland dome

Most of the time its just brand recognition, a little for RND, and the rest for marketing

leaden dawn

RND is fine. If you actually improve the product and dont charge out the ass for it because of it then whatever

I mean what, you're paying for an ultra cheap sensor, barely any plastic, etc

livid flame

I looked into building my own mouse and it was like £25. + shipping from China. The biggest cost to me was shipping + buying 1 mould/buttons. buying in bulk of 10,000 units it would have cost £16 + shipping
