160 fps is very gaming
Dang msata drives over like 120gb are hard to find in the wild lol
just curious does qd oled have burn in issues after long usage š¤
Yesn't
so 50/50 š¤
its not a yes or no question
or rather, its yes because its possible with any OLED type
mmmm
Yeah, get a 60" plasma TV instead
plasma š
Works like a charm to this day

I don't even notice the burn-in
Sort of, but not terribly likely if you take basic precautions
dude on hardforum is rocking triple 65" plasmas and gaming on them
sorry, 60"
reportedly running at 7080x3840@60Hz downscaled to 3240x1920
a "huh, neat" moment. its not enticing at all
not that hard to find, just stupidly expensive
yeah, i could never understand gaming on split setups like this
like, itās cool, but iām good
holy gap, thats like a 2-3cm gap? (idk inch)
Can someone help me with tpm 2.0
Way back in 2011ish I was gaming on triple 1080p but each display was landscape, so super wide
AMD Eyefinity
The one inch bezel gaps are a real turnoff
Iāve been using mismatched monitors since Iāve had a PC lol, monitors have always been my lowest priority
well thats a shame considering how much an impact a good one can have
its what you're looking at all day
i have a viewsonic ips 1440 144hz
but itās not like that great anymore
probably on par with a lower end panel these days
Dbrand thinks theyāre funny
dude I love their humor
its one of those things that catches you off your guard and I always have to chuckle
@frank cypress https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2026AG0013-000209
Canadians will do everything but upgrade gpus
hey guys just got a rx 9070xt off my friend for Ā£250 plus he gave me 32gb ddr5 6000mhz and a motherboard and a 600w psu but idk if itās the gpu or psu making this strange buzzing sound
here is the sound
not sure if my psu or gpu is screaming for help
Only £250
yeah
he is having a transform because heās I mean she sorry is trans and needs money so
they didnāt care about their pc and gave it all to me because they know I love pcs
they couldnāt sell the stuff because people are dodgy and annoying so they just did this instead
it fell off a truck
it works fine the gpu so
I can't hear anything but typically if a GPU is making noise its a physical fan thing or coil whine under load
just a faint humming sound iām not sure if itās normal so
maybe coil whine not sure I have a 750w gold psu so..
I heard it sufficient enough for it
that has on bearing
this is cursed
I hear coli whine
It's really faint
and if the card is idle, unlikely to be coil whine
yeah it is
itās not idle I was under full load
I swear 9070xt coil whine is a common thing
itās normal when idle
then thats probably what it is. setup a framerate cap
See that assumes you can hit the framerate cap
you canāt hear it under full load
how do I do it in amd I forgot lol I need to see to 180fps
I get coil whine with hdr when the screen is mostly white
also why does this gpu have AI slop features I didnāt ask for I didnāt download it but still
dlss and frame gen isnt ai slop
upscaling and frame gen*
who knows what they're even talking about
should I use fsr upscaling in amd
damn
Share holder value
Iām used to older gpus this is all new to me.
its not a "should i" sorta question. If you have a use for it and can benefit from it, you're free to experiment and decide on your own
why are you asking us, that is your choice
oh ok
its just like graphics settings, its what ever you wanna use
Kinda weird that we're going to be ahead of Washington, Oregon and Cali for half the year
Wait we will have the same time half the year then
Mountain time is an hour ahead of stinky Cali
try it and figure out if you like it
if you do? use it
If you don't? don't
see if any quality changes are worth the extra FPS you get in your world
If it's fsr4 (or fsr 3.1 that can get upgraded to fsr4 in the amd software) yes
I used with and without it and with it the textures look all grainy and weird
it looks like the card has artifacting with fsr but without it, it looks good
coil whine
itās gone away now I set fps cap to 180
itās only a teeny tiny bit there now but itās not audible unless you listen close
what preset? You really have to understand what upscaling is and what it would be useful for before just screwing around
Iām not sure honestly
I have 0 clue about all this stuff I just put the card in do medium/high graphics or optimise and thatās it
this card is so good though itās quiet
that's how you know its coil whien
@river mountain the most exciting thing I've ordered in a while. Got this for my son. https://a.co/d/0go5zahS
FSR (and DLSS) work on the basic principle of rendering less pixels than your native display (1440p in your case) then upscaling back up to native. There are presets you pick from when enabling it such as Quality, Balanced, Performance (possibly a few more).
If you're not getting the performance you're after in a game and its purely due to GPU horsepower, you may try enabling FSR in the Quality preset which will render the games at 1080p then upscale back to 1440p.
tagged the wrong guy lol
ffs
oki
do you already have it? Is it actually cool?
Tbf I do too lol
I watched reviews of it, looks pretty cool
it comes tomorrow
Little dude got this cheapy one from his friend for xmas or something and it broke and was AA batteries lol
Rolls Royce ain't got THAT
whatās a good micro atx case easy to build in and white I now have a ddr5 motherboard and ram so I wanna build another pc for my brother
some people are really put off
Today we are looking at a new Galaxy Projector, this is the āGovee Galaxy Light Projector 2 Proā. Iāve tested a lot of galaxy projectors and this is by far the best one Iāve tested so far. It has a lot of customizations, a much brighter output, and even smart home and app connectivity as well! This is DEFINITELY the best Galaxy Projector...
The LIAN LI & DAN Cases A3-mATX is a versatile M-ATX mesh PC case that maintains a minimal chassis size while accommodating large components. Thanks to the relocatable PSU bracket, the A3-mATX empowers you to build a powerful and compact PC system tailored to your needs and preferences. Minimalist Design Enhanced Modularity 360mm AIO Layout
I like lian li
well you know how I feel about some people
they make pretty good cases this lian li 216 is a good case
I can personally vouch for the 216 and A3
the Lancool series is great. not a whole lot more you can ask for. the A3 is a bit different in that its quite compact
kinda annoyed now tho I dropped all this money on this am4 motherboard and my friend just gave me am5 with 6000mhz ddr5..
Lian Li rarely misses
do you know any lian li micro atx cases that have like 3 rgb fans or something
not sure if I wanna give this pc to my brother or sell it for a shit ton of money
he linked you to the A3
does it have to be 3? the budget 206 and 207 have RGB versions but they're just two larger fans
the A3 is the one to get
a3 in question
oh they do a North style A3, didn't realize
there was a case in the last few years.. shit i'm trying to remember. Depending on what front panel version you got it was either sealed or vented
it was a non-standard layout
might have even been ITX
The wood front panel is vented on the A3, black and white arenāt
Oh, well that might have been it then
I guess you have to run the PSU fan facing in on the non-vented or is there enough room
did you ever go SFX?
The A3 has like a crazy config list
nah
oh, shit.. yeah I remember looking at this. the combinations and stipulations are.. vast
Yeah itās nuts
*I decided it made more sense to downsize my cpu cooler considering I was going from a cpu that could draw 300W to one that draws like 140W max, than to spend like $250 on a quality SFX psu.
great if you're buying from them directly, annoying when you're buying through retailers with only specific versions
@edgy laurel hows your making your gmmk pro not shit plan going?
@low sorrel hows you make the entire chat stop
im just like that
lol
goop goop goop
i have gotten stick drift on my dualsense edge
very epic potentiometers sony got here
for what that costs they better replace it
no that's the gimmick, it's $20 to buy a new stick module
but i'll probably shop around and grab some tmr ones that people have made
pretty sure it's by design at this point
I always forget Xbox sells a $200 controller
it's the best feeling controller ever until it falls apart in 3 months
Today, we're launching an important update to our membership program, previously called Insider Access, now simply RTINGS.com Membership.
Doesn't affect me
i'm not sure ifit affects me either
Do you not support rtings?
tl;dr?
We've had a soft paywall for a few years now, with a limited number of free pageviews on most product categories. We are now moving to a more membership-supported model to ensure RTINGS.com can remain independent
i don't pay them as it is, i'm not going to now
$10/mo for product reviews
While much of RTINGS.com remains free, our full test results and in-depth product analysis are now available only to members. We'll continue to iterate on what that looks like over time as we refine the model across different product categories.
they can take a hike for that price
i noticed lots of stuff was behind a paywall recently
monitors didn't seem to be
that would be annoying if it changes
31.50 for a year
for the first year*
With how often I check them monthly I find it worth it to support them
45 for your second year
how many tvs are you buying a year
0 but I always like looking at new reviews of fancy TVs or to help others buy a new one
anybody know anything about the $130 asrock 1440p 144hz panels?
nope, other than they're not asrock panels
to my knowledge, asrock doesn't produce LCD's
so when you do this you bypass the psus protections
never ever turn on a gpu without the cables plugged in
unfortunately the card exploding was entirely on you
kaboom
i did this with a 1060 i got for free that would trip my psu and it actually caught on fire
not like a haha small mosfet gone
talking like the whole thing kaboomed
tldr always use the plugs unless theyāre optional for some reason. also if a card is shorting your computer, stop trying to turn it on
a lot worse couldāve happened than the dead gpu dying more
welp, time to go elsewhere
i mean, gotta do what you gotta do i suppose.
can't just employ people to do a job for free
Does the rx 9070 non xt have about double the performance of the rx 9060xt
if only there were hours and hours of videos somewhere you could watch where people give you explicit details about things like that
Im too lazy
or TPU's graphs
get fuckin' moving
no it's about 1.5x, not 2x
But it would be a noticeable improvement
yes it's substantial
what annoys me about TPU is some cards just aren't in the list unless you search for them directly
so I had to do this backwards
9070 just wasn't there using the list from the 9060xt page
thems some skinny metal keycaps
strange, it's on mine
My w print is fading from my keycaps
what the hell
this might be the dumbest change ever
you want me to pay for the ability to see x out of 10? š
I don't like low profile
atleast let us see x out of 10
its a little more nuanced than that, I assume. there are people and man hours that decided on that x out of 10. (not saying i'm paying it.. i'm not)
amd gatekept FSR4 so that the 7900XT didnt make the 9070 and 9070XT pointless
that card was available for $650-700 for a while and it has more vram :p
i get hiding the per thing out of 10 but like
at least show the general category score, the new thing is useless
Wait there are some cheap 7900xt i never checked wtf
it's not worth buying because it doesnt have native fsr4 support
that was the point of my message
Eh the games i play dont really support fsr anyway i use lossless scaling
probably has to be so thin because of the weight
wait, you mean other companies make keycaps?
You don't say
imagine a thicc metal keycaps but on a realyl lightweight switch
Why did the NVIDIA cards get so expensive because of the vram shortage but AMD is like the same price
i mean it's kinda expensive no
because no one wants amd cards
amd cards have risen just not as much tho
AMDs cards have gone up
pricing depends on region, but the 50 series uses a newer generation of vram than the radeon 9000 series so it was even more harshly impacted by the shortage
in america the 5060Ti and 9060XT are the same price so the 5060Ti is a nobrainer choice
America got zhe best prices
we love saving 175W with zero performance loss
did you just turn off rt
Easy to find online, not in the wild
naw it's the same graphics settings, resolution, and fps limit in both
-175W with zero loss to performance or visuals via voltage limiting
yo luminati
i was gonna say the right looks sharper but i think its just discord compression on the image preview cause i opened both of em up and did like a <- -> and saw no difference
or maybe my left eyeball is worse than my right eyeball
ryzen 5 5600x cinebench r23 benchmark results (10 min multi core Points score: 10062)
typically you turn off the 10-minute test and just run it once
eh
theyre identical game settings and taken back to back
it makes a big difference as the 10min one is for stability rather than trying to see what you score
10k sounds like throttling
5600x I mean itās alright like
oh right
stock just under 11k
what happened to the am5 system
I scored 12k points before undervolting cpu
itās micro atx and I just build this brand new pc
so what
I canāt decide
return your am4 stuff and go buy am5 stuff since you have ddr5 on hand
Iād have to buy another am5 cpu a atx am5 board.
a 5800x makes 0 sense
you literally just mentioned buying a different cpu to upgrade it again
I am building another micro atx pc and selling it probably ..
yes a new cpu but Iād have to get a better motherboard and stuff
and itās white ram in my black case it would look strange lol
buying a 5800x when you have access to am5 stuff is a terrible decision and i donāt think many people would disagree but in the end itās your system
I just spent all on new stuff so.
I will keep the am5 pc but Iām unsure what to do atm.
I like my pc so I might just keep it
better to sell it now and make some money before it tanks
maybe
or use it as a server
itās Ā£350 for the ram though at the minute used
bro is uk too
i donāt see why youād keep am4 stuff you just bought when youāre given ddr5 for free
you could just return the am4 setup and get on am5 now
I spent £250 and gave him my rx 6750xt 2x OC Msi and my friend gave me a 750w bronze corsair psu 32gb ddr5 6000mhz ram and a motherboard unsure what one and a ryzen 5 7600 cpu and a rx 9070xt
if the ram breaks I am cooked tho
what if it all of a sudden breaks
then you rma it?
huh
nice to see a fellow bri ish here too aria
because my pc is really fast for what it is and I donāt play the newest AAA games only older titles so.
iām not british..
so why you using £ sign
yes and already have a 7600 + ram in hand
Iām not british iām just from uk.
so for the price of a board only youāre getting a much better system to keep long term
I understand which is why iām building an all white am5 pc soon.
British āpeopleā
you got this jorj
Iāll see the performance differences and decide myself
only here for vacation
what the hell is this
i live in miami
what part
keys
holiday in the uk
the miami keys
ššššš
yh
jorj's knowledge of florida comes from GTA, apparently
im surprised he doesnt live near DJ Khaled over here
im driving to south beach tomorrow
thats cool what road are you taking
in the keys and driving all the way back up to south beach, interesting
its crazy to me that i moved like 1200 miles and im still the same distance away from US-1
it becomes US-9 randomly but its the same thing, im still on US-1, and im not that too far off of I-95
at least its not I-40 or I-75 i hate those ones
damn new pokƩmon only being playable by switch 2 owners is kinda sad because that makes emulation a non option
and thereās no way in hell iām buying a switch 2
ewaste
And why is that
There's this amazing thing called a pc
It can play games, many more in fact than a Nintendo Switch.
Bro not everyone can afford pcs
$500 for a $200 mobile phone managed by the most anti consumer company on earth? Iāll pass
which notably canāt play pokemon waves
After the last two PokƩmon games.. Do you really want it at launch
people trying to crack the new ecosystem say it will take a decade to properly emulate s2
yeah lol, violet is a lot of fun if you ignore the graphics
the newest one is a pile of shit tho
i had fun with both violet and za on launch day just fine
i rmb like 2 days after that pokemon game with more megas released I saw like 3 mfs on another dc emulating it š
i thought za was awful the combat is so stupid
yeah switch 1 copy = instantly pirated
š
pc handhelds with screenshots of emulators are the biggest larpers
they never actually play the game after
people sell modded overclocked switch lites for like 80 bucks now so i would consider one of those if it wasnāt for nintendo online being the ransomware that it is
I mean.. AYN Thor is kinda.. Something I'd def love to play Henrikos textures for MM and OOT3D on
Tbf that's also a mobile handheld but still
i think ayn thor is too small of a screen and a steam deck is too weak and still too small of a screen for me to justify
me happily picking up my copy of pokemon waves and the new fire emblem for my switch 2 purchased during launch month
well you canāt get a new steam deck anyways š
I'm waiting for the successor tbh. I still dont have one
nah i decided to get a tablet for media consumption
yeah no the deck is too slow for anything really
Its not that its too slow.. But ive waited this long
if you have a gigantic interest in 2000s and early 2010s games on the go i guess itās cool
but anything modern just melts it
i cant say no to the AMOLED screen and using it as my portable oled display
I mean I kinda do that with my pixel tbf. Obviously Mali isnt handling everything rn but hoping it gets better over time. Warframe good
panther lake is the first time that a low wattage chip has seemed good enough to me
iām expecting valve to go with something arm for the deck 2 eventually
but i also donāt really follow pc handhelds
ive given up on a ptl handheld tbh
put 2 fans in the jellyfin box cause my hdds were getting kinda ridiculously hot
why am i gonna play re9 on a 9 inch display when i have a nice 4k monitor at home
floppafin
curses
Floppin
:nod
no more nitro i keep forgetting
but yeah floppafin
60c hdds was kinda worrying
i meant to cancel then it ate my gift card balance so i forgot again
š
discord nitro opal š„š„š„
lmao quite epic
unfortunately im not doing anything on my server write intensive rn so idk if the fans are working but im going to assume yes
they r spinning
200% pwm š
bro at this rate im gonna get a 4k monitor in like fkin 2027
bro went broke
listen man it keeps going outta stock
the stars arent aligning for me to make a proper upgrade
Become a fellow C series owner
@edgy laurel does your moms do sewing/quilting shit
144 hz
Yea does she do it shit?
na, just gardening
Helping 5nail5 Sr with figuring out what my moms stuff is...
that is uh... not some beginner stuff (i'm assumin)
I dunno wtf to do with this
No - apparently my mom has like $50k worth of crazy machines
sheesh, just a hobbyist?
Now why there be burning brains left out here? Lol.
yeah i take after her in some ways
a 42ā would wreck my usage of using a second monitor not to mention space constraint- It is a great idea otherwise tho.
lol, that is accurate š
@topaz veldt arc in like an hour?
second monitor just needs to be vertical š
probably not
weird, the Q20's on Ebay (there are a lot) don't looklike that and are much cheaper
still expensive for a sewing machine lol
it already is
oh wait, none of these are Q20's, just lesser models
yeah
and then bed time for kids
see if Creator Warehouse needs some machines lol
nah just buy a dinner table for a desk and run 3 horizontal 42" c6 tvs
that guy needs a lowprofile mic arm
its just perefection
nice big room and nice setup
Yeah there's like 3 or 4 of them
Not all that model
Blah kind of tough to deal with of course, but also like wtf
@edgy laurel they're actually both drifting
damn.. yeah. Honestly doesn't seem like that kinda stuff is that easy to sell second hand from the little reading i was doing
well now, stick kits come in pairs of two don't they? lol
nope! $20/module
Yeah I think it'll have to be like through consignment - I am trying to track her friends down from their like "club"
This thing sucks
explode
I want to find a cheap but decent docking station thinger, like $100 or so
anker / caldigit
try not to have a stroke in the overclocking channel challenge
perhaps lets not bother with the dude running a 3090ti now
oh my gahd
is my 1.5v 5ghz 3600 oc good????
its stable in the games i play but it crashes in cinebench
its ok tho cause cinebench famously has issues on overclocked cpus
also 225 mem oc lol
my guyās shitty 3060ti does more mem OC than his 3090ti! What a shocker!
I think I had a 3070 that did +1800 or some dumb shit
cyberpunk did not famously have an issue with factory overclocked cards (they're not even really overclocked.. as we know)
factory overclocked cards? he might be the one doing the factory overclock we better watch out
my TUF 4090 doesn't like being touched at all, seemingly.
I think I kind of agree with the guy but at the same time how does ādamn this specific game/program crashes for a lot of peopleā translate to āmy oc must be unstableā
like I get it; programs and games can be unstable but like
that has nothing to do with your OC assuming youāre running non stupid shit
slap em
you were right, there was a fundamental misunderstanding going on but its two people hugely different ideas of what overclocking is
talk to him in binary, he might understand that better
his whole point was the second he has a problem he can't look past the "overclocked" marketing BS on the box and think its the culprit. couldn't see any of the logic beyond that
because, a general unfamiliarity with what overclocking is, how you do it right and how to test for instability
if all that is kinda just a mystery then yes, you're just going to blame everything on that black magic word
yes
i understand getting schizophrenic about ram ocs causing mystery instability in the computer but gpus not really
(i also dont gpu oc past generic 50 series crap)
idk my computer genuinely hasnt had too many issues in daily operation for a while so
we tried to do my card in here a few months back. seemingly the smallest nudge to core or mem almost immediately started artifacting in 3dmark
i think i had one blue screen after i updated my bios and incorrectly set a safe daily profile
probably drivers or somethin then, mem shouldnt artifact instantly/at all on g6x or whatever
yeah maybe. I stopped caring like 30 minutes later lol
it will artifact but generally like once youre right on the edge of what it can even validate clock wise
ecc on graphics mem pretty good nowadays
I'm a little surprised Linus covered the Playground of all consoles.
heck i think im even on a cpu oc rn
yeah 5.6 on 4 cores
5.4 on 8
4.9 e
computer works
we know where your true love lies
i like puter
those pesky memory sticks
i have somethin on my ram hollon
oh
idk if ECC caused issues in the past or if thats sauce for higher scores in 3dm
can try it on cause im pretty sure its supposed to be on by default, but idk
i dont cause i was testing this cpu oc lol
i dont get ECC settings on 50 series i dont think
pretty sure its just always on
it would only be in the old NVCP
im not on the latest driver but i also dont lke updating my driver anymore so
to enable ECC?
yeah, for a gaming PC
on vram it is probably faster to clock higher and have ECC trigger to a degree than just no ECC all the time
ECC is pretty self explanatory
in the case for ocers you can do silly things with it especially on the CPU side
cause you can rely on ECC actually working pretty good
saw seby (ram oc goat) run like ddr5 8600 on xeon w9 lol
huh. come to think of it you just don't hear about people turning that on
i'm pretty sure my 3090 had that option too
can FAFO and see if it lets you increase sliders, but also wouldnt doubt if it was just drivers during the time you tried to oc
no core oc prolly cant be fixed, just volt limited
Kind of cool when it works
is this just LM Studio but running on remote PC's or something
you'd think that be pretty reliable in a LAN
its brokered over interweb
its made for people who are remote of their setup
it just took a while for that system to show up
ah, ok then its reliant on someones service
yeah for sure
probably a way to do that completely locally
do it
dont tempt me
doit no balls
I got it
send me the code bro
no
dont be mean
is it a steam key
New Nvidia driver came out. Apparently it's having a lot of the same issues as the one they pulled. Worse Resident Evil performance, worse performance on the 5090, etc.
So I guess don't risk downloading it unless you want to have to revert
well i already downloaded it
I did download it on my 3090 TI just to see. I don't have the new Resident Evil game and I have older hardware so we'll see what happens.
If you're not playing the new Resident Evil game and you don't experience any other issues might as well keep it installed.
I also installed it, but I'm on 3000 series.
just follow the launch thread, like we do every time
Here's the megathread about it. https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1ritsbd/game_ready_driver_59571_faqdiscussion/
Same with my EVGA 3090 TI. I want to wait at least until next gen to upgrade. Just not worth it so far to me. Besides, then I get to spend more time with my last new EVGA GPU in my main system (not selling it).
That double ray tracing performance does look good though
unfortunately 3070 isn't viable for todays AAA titles at 4K without graphical compromises.
you wont get much value back selling off a 3090ti tbh
581.57 4 lyfe (or until I can be bothered to upgrade and see if RTX VSR/HDR are broken)
the only features I simply cannot live without
Yeah I dont get how your RTX VSR/HDR got broken
Must be because you didnt get the 5090 TUF for $2k
I will say that DLSS is a godsend. I'm on a 4K LG C3 currently and I've started The Last of Us Part 1. To play on Ultra they recommend a 4080. I'm playing on Ultra with DLSS Quality and getting ~70-80FPS.
I dunno. DDUed between each driver. Even stepped back mulitple drivers with DDU between each. Wasn't until I finally got back to where I started, 581.57, that everything just worked again
I had to sell my 3090 when I went to my C2 so good on ya
but DLSS wasn't what it is today back then
To be fair I got it at a good price originally. I got it at $1100 brand new from a guy who bought it and decided he and his son was going to wait for the 4090 to come out. He opened the box to look at it but never even used the card. Still had just under 3 years of warranty on it and everything.
But either way not selling it
Last of the EVGA
You missed out on the same path as Mac š
I too wish I couldve gotten a 5090 TUF for $2k
i'm a 1440p 144hz boy myself
which it also struggles with
sounds like you need a 5070 deal
1440p 360hz is not cutting it for me anymore
Might want to start using DSR 4k scaling to compensate
lol, need it to stretch that poor cards legs
Yeah when I set up a desk I have a 3440x1440p OLED waiting for me. So less pixels than 4K but more than 16:9 regular 1440p. It's 240hz, but whether I always run it at that, we'll see. I'm a big proponent of 1440p. I feel like it's the perfect compromise between better looking than 1080p but not as demanding as 4K. Then again I'm also someone who says I'd rather run a 1080p OLED than a 4K IPS since getting this LG C3.
part of the C series owners group. see, @brisk jolt time to join
How many inches is the C series, 42ā?
Im going to struggle with space tbh
the smallest is 42
The length I can afford for a table is⦠160cm.. account for a secondary vertical monitor and other peripherals- Im gonna be struggling
As much as Iād like to get a C series- I dont think I could till I actually get my own house
Iād also just slap it in the living room
I suppose the benefit is higher refresh going with a 32" "monitor"
but man, you really can't argue the value you get with C series
my "old" C2 still looks flipping nuts compared to every other display I use day to day
Yeah I absolutely love this C3. I only bought it because my old Samsung smart TV died on me one day. I woke up and it just decided it was done living. When I was looking at my local BestBuy (I needed a TV that day) they had a decent deal on the LG C3 since it was sometime before the next gen were going to come out. Absolutely fantastic TV. This converted me on OLED. I do take the necessary precautions against burn in (hiding taskbar, use the all black screen saver on Windows that comes on after 1-2min, pixel shifting, etc. etc. etc.), but I see what people mean about OLED now. It's beautiful. Maybe one day we will actually get proper Micro-LED in consumer displays. Hopefully we actually get that in the next decade.
I really want to max my refresh rate possibility, and also need to account for the fact im using VESA table mounts as well as the length of the desk Im getting would be 160cm.
yeah I woke up one Sunday and decided I wanted a new monitor. C2 was at its cheapest point since it was right before C3 launched
I was peer pressured
for the record these TV's are vesa mountable too
needs a cheap adapter plate but otherwise works fine with "monitor" arms assuming they can hold the weight which isn't much
we were looking at setups with these today. I was reminded that you fucked up not goign 48"
Im gonna be replacing the table first then exploring monitor options later on in like September
Also I am NOT fitting a 48ā TV in my small room
Mac has a massive desk and dual 27" monitors next to it. 27"'s line up perfectly with a 48" main display
Are you using it as a monitor at a desk? I've heard of some people doing that instead of getting a regular OLED monitor. This one is a 55" and is my main TV in my room. I play on a couch until I can get rid of it and set up a desk (then I'm hooking my PC up to that OLED monitor and just using this TV as a TV. Might build a small form factor PC for the TV sometime. But we'll see, that's a future thing.)
the max desk length I could fit is 180cm and that isnt a comfortable fit- Im going for a 160cm one. 42ā is about 100cm, include my vertical monitor and Iād almost have no real space left for other stuff
Yes, quite a few regulars in this channel are using them on our desk. I've been doing it since early 2023 full time as my primary display.
boo
listen man im bottlenecked not on purpose- I believe 32ā is my best option for story gaming and racing
One question. Do you have the issue that when your PC goes to sleep or the display turns off or whatever when GSync disconnects? I have to use that CRU "Restart-Only.exe" fix occasionally when GSync disconnects after whatever causes it. I know of LG TV Companion but I haven't gotten around to trying that since you have to mess with network settings.
Other than that the only other issue I have is occasionally waking up from sleep it doesn't send the signal to the display
No, never. I have display sleep disabled in WIndows but I use normal system sleep every day. Never had an issue.
I think I have the display sleep disabled as of recently. Yeah I don't know exactly what causes this, but it is a known issue, unfortunately. CRU fixes it really quickly, annoying but more of a minor inconvenience. I've heard supposedly the fix for it not sending the signal to the display when waking the PC up from sleep is making sure that your TV is on and set to the HDMI signal before waking up the PC. I haven't thoroughly tested it but I've been trying to do that. But yeah. LG TV Companion on Github is supposed to fix a lot of issues, eventually I may try it. But honestly by the time I get around to it I'll probably finally set up a desk and use the OLED monitor as my main display. But glad you don't have the issue. These LG C TVs really are great, despite any hiccups I may have had.
Thats interesting. Oddities with C3 maybe? I'm on a C2 but most everyone else is C4 or C5
yummy, god I hate javascript
8,737 lines, 351,358 characters across 39 files
never wouldve been able to solo dev that without copilot
make sure you guys have low expectations for crimson desert, its made by the company who makes black desert which is basically just microtransaction simulator
i dont believe that they know how gameplay loops work without gambling
they also dont know how to integrate FSR into their engine properly, it adds a glowing aura around everything in black desert and judging by the gameplay footage teasers its probably the same or very similar engine
i have my doubts he had any intention of playing that
rather, just messing with jorj lol
Even better I have no expectations lol I don't know anything about this
they have basically taken their open world mmorpg and made an open world singleplayer rpg with it, my guess is itll be a game for benchmarking that nobody actually plays
starfield 2.0?
i would assume even fewer players than starfield tbh
its like starfield if starfield wasnt hyped at all
and at least bethesda knows how to make a singleplayer game
What's this? I have some computers at work that never sleep, but won't always wake up the screens
Are they LG TVs?
Just mostly crappy 60hz office screens
Time to subscribe to rtings
Ah well the CRU thing I was talking about it for reconnecting GSync. It does other things too, but I have only used it for getting GSync to reconnect. You download it, rename one of the files to "Restart-Only.exe", then you press that when GSync disconnects and it very quickly reconnects your monitor/TV.
we were specifically talking about LG OLED's
(Custom Resolution Utility) I guess it's normally used for custom resolutions/refresh rates
But the other thing I was talking about is LG TV Companion, that was for fixing the monitor not connecting properly from sleep, again I haven't tried it but I've heard it works and does a bunch of cool stuff. But that's only for LG TVs and to set it up you need network settings.
The only other thing I know is some people say that if you turn on the monitor/TV first and then wake up the PC that can get it to actually detect the signal, but I haven't extensively tested this.
@edgy laurel i found tmr replacements for my controller but it's $100 for both
this keeps getting worse
yeah
So I actually just tried the LG TV companion (didn't mess with network settings, I think it already has a static DHCP and if it doesn't I'll configure that later if it messes up). It works great! Now my TV wakes up with my PC. There's a test mode. It turned off my TV (PC was still on), pressed enter on my keyboard, boom, TV turned on straight to my PC. Good shit. (Really easy to setup too)
it's either $40 for fail again modules, $100 for tmr modules, or shop around for new controller when it gets unusable
Nice. Yeah back when I got this, I played with the ColorControl app for automating the TV turning on with the PC but that quicky got annoying. Now the remote just sits next to my keyboard and I hit both the power button any me Esc key one after the other
its never seemed to make a difference in which order, or if I delay one or the other
Yeah I'm happy you don't have any issues, hope it stays that way. Who knows what's the issue. That's one of the few unfortunate drawbacks of PCs, any tiny little thing can cause a problem for some people but not others. Yeah I also have a remote next to my PC. We'll have to see if this stops my TV from not recognizing the HDMI signal when waking up PC from sleep mode. It's not like it happened every time, but enough that it was annoying. Especially because I would have to get up to restart the PC.
I just know other people have that issue
I'm more surprised that you don't get the GSync disconnect thing
VRR still works when that happens, it's just that GSync handshake messed up
The only reason I noticed was by using my remote and the GSync icon was missing, also it would change the picture mode it was set at. I have my thing on Warm 50 and whatnot for color accuracy
So I could see that the picture was different when GSync wasn't on
huh. do you have all the normal PC use stuff on like HDMI Deep Color and 4:4:4 passthrough?
I do have the HDMI Deep Color on, but I haven't enabled 4:4:4 passthrough. I also changed the icon so the TV knows it's using a PC (apparently that has an effect on things too). I just wasn't sure if 4:4:4 passthrough was worth it or not. I've heard good and possible bad things.
(Also using game optimizer and whatnot)
I have things pretty well configured from what I can tell. RTings guide and whatnot, and just looking everything up.
speaking of bugs i've had a weird bug where around 50% of the time my pc doesn't shut down the first time and I don't know why
it just goes back to the lock screen
Never once heard a bad thing. Kinda necessary to actually set it up correctly so you're getting proper color and text clarity. This is a standard feature of true PC monitors but must be enabled for PC use on TV's
been happening for as long as i can remember
Yeah I don't know I've read a few things, I just tried turning it on
We'll see how it goes
I do use HGIG for HDR
Try turning off fast startup
Yeah thats one guy, and the other guy is being corrected in the comments. This isn't something I've ever seen debated, its just standard practice for proper PC setup.
already off
(14k hours over 3 years experience here)
Okay well I will try it. I just turned it on. Text might look a bit different? I will definitely try it. I just wasn't sure if I really should or not since even RTings said it was available but didn't specifically say to turn it on, just kind of mentioned it. I am rather new to this. I was using a TV before, but it was the Samsung smart TV from like 2016 and was VERY sparse on the settings. So I more or less just dealt with it
14k hours in 3 years is insanity
if you say so
@edgy laurel Just over 2 years
Can't believe I've had this for two years
Doesn't feel that long
Bought it Feb 5th 2024
How the fuck has it been two years? I thought it was a year goddamn time flies.
Yeah I got mine Jan 2023
ive been avoiding WebOS 25
too many C2 specific horror stories
Yeah I just updated without looking into it or anything. Too be fair I don't use too many of the actual smart settings. I just make sure I have all the ads and shit turned off. LG TV channels are cool, but since my PC is hooked up to the TV and it's the TV in my room I just use my PC for everything. When I set up a monitor things will be a bit different. Then I might actually use some of those settings, especially since if I build a TV PC it won't be for awhile after that.
That's unfortunate
I got 8 years out of my last TV. If I get at least 8 good years out of this one I will be happy. Would be happy with longer, though. I was thinking about upgrading my TV before my shitty Samsung smart TV died, but I never committed. In the end I only upgraded then because it did decide to shit out
Just woke up one morning and the screen wouldn't turn on. Think either the backlight died or the power supply.
it survived finally
New iPad air with M4 and more ram than iPad pro.
Apple is morphing an iPhone into a "Chromebook" so they can stop making m1 Airs for schools.
than which ipad pro
never quite understood who these were for
And apple will become THE value leader in computing in 2026 to help boost their stagnant market share but undercutting the market.
Base pro has 8gb ram, m4 air has 12GB
I usually see it as people who want a ultra book, but a touch screen.
Think 12 inch MacBook consumer. That kind of one.
Apple has really been embracing this as well with their magic keyboard. If it wasn't for commission on app sales I 100% believe that iPad would run Mac OS at this point.
Unfortunately as soon as M6 comes out with a touch screen it's going to be the other way around and it's going to be super annoying.
yeah i also am biased against touch screen laptops because I cannot think of a situation where I would want one if I wasnāt an artist
They just use it as a tablet that happens to have a keyboard.
When they first started to make convertible laptops if they would have bothered to make them properly they would have revolutionized everything. But they just didn't get it quite right.
Everybody I know that has an iPad with a keyboard the keyboard is the case/ stand and they just flip it over the keyboard never activates on accident, etc.
This is what they issue in lieu of laptops now days
I think they have 10,000 of these, and only 120 laptops for issue now.
Shockingly the iPads have been found to be more durable š¤
yeah, when I customized my laptop from HP I specifically chose a non touchscreen. I don't really like glossy panels that aren't apple
windows laptops with glossy panels feel SO cheap 90% of the time
Bros never heard of our Lord and Savior, the Apple M5 iPad Pro starting with 12GB RAM and 256GB SSD
9 cores is so weird
Wym? Apples displays aren't even that good on their computers, unless you are paying and extra $1k to get the good ones. I.e. MacBook air š¤®
Yes, but the air is cheaper than the base pro, and has more ram than it was his point.
U need to buy good laptops lol
Because core 10 was bad so they disable it. Same thing they do with M4 Pro and m4 max.
Remember apple used to have this a year ago ...
i was thinking of the ipad pro m5 but it was 2x the price of the astra
It was a ewaste pc too, nothing of value would have been lost. š¤·āāļø anyway, goes back to "display unit of dead HW"
just saying, its improper to even try to do that, doesnt matter the value of the components, just general advice lol
in normal working situation it would stop the post and blame you for being idiot on screen. But sure, good to know for future
yes, in a normal working situation it would, clear sign is it shorting the PSU with it properly plugged in though.
you'd love my matte touchscreen thinkpad then
i went to a ice cream shop that is OOS of every ice cream are we deadass
@topaz veldt im richhhh
KFC in the UK is often out of chicken
some people are seeing their gpu voltage get limited to 0.99 on the latest driver so iād consider it still a no-go
studio 591.74 is still king aside from resident evil requiem fps
nice that i avoided it (I honestly just forgot to update)
Then... What do they have
these all in one double and triple fan thingies are neat
made by jonsbo https://www.jonsbo.com/en/product/ComputerCaseFan.html
ä¹ę伯JONSBO
i wonder when lian li will start making cases that have power prongs to connect to triple unifan packs without any cables
and have the wireless controller integrated too
What should I use to keep a PC case safe in transit if I don't have packing foam
Going to try and get my PC during the downtime between bombings
Glass panel is ofc off
@steel stream supposedly an 18A wafer
last we saw of akn was friday
though I think he did say he went home for the weekend
Chips and salad. Itās rough when it happens.
the prob is they are never decent fans š
probably decent enough to live their lives at a static low RPM
if you're after the look
you're having to check videocardz yourself. this is what happens when akn is missing
sad days
oh yeah itās mac day https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/03/apple-introduces-macbook-pro-with-all-new-m5-pro-and-m5-max/
thereās a big gpu performance upgrade as expected because we saw it in the M5 vs M4 comparisons
thats considerable
Damnit now I need to sell all my Mac shit
they seem to be renaming their cores to not use the efficiency name for whatever reason
theyāre saying āsuper coresā and āperformance coresā now
instead of performance and efficiency
super cores being the actual performance cores
i think itās worth keeping your M4 MBP and waiting for the M6 to get the redesigned chassis and oled screen
unless you want to buy and sell every year
Yeah - I do like the MBP M4 for its power usage
OLED would be amazing
I hate that they do this
I know its relevant because a lot of people hold their M1 and M2s for eons
Comparing an M5 Pro to an M1 Pro is hard to relate to
yeah iām that guy who still has the m1 pro
Yeah I get it
because the m5 pro still uses the exact same chassis and screen XD
well itās quantum ips instead of ksf/nano ips but whatever
extremely similar perceptibly
it does do hdr wym
Not on the built in display
14ā and 16ā models are mini led, they do hdr
where
Is that the "XDR"?
OK maybe I am confusing the fact that when I have an external monitor cabled in I see the "HDR" toggle
yeah go open a hdr youtube video
the built in display absolutely does hdr
oled would be better, but you wonāt find a better mini led implementation than the macbook pro
OK yeah you're right - I was just looking at the toggle missing
New topic - AI sucks
it lied lol
donāt worry bro just give AI companies $100B more in tax dollars and itāll be able to analyze an image
Now its trying to cover its ass
LOL - so it goes on to say why it lied, but then its like "You'll see it says 1.279V". YES. I do. But you said it was 1.114V lol
I love fucking with this shit
This is like my first time using a tablet, android one at that- OLED screen looks great
I think HDR Automatically turns on when it senses HDR content
how about you finish upgrading your whole network to high split so that most people arenāt stuck with 40mbps upload and poor uptime for $120/mo?
god i hate spectrum
Nah its the XDR profile that is Apples way of saying "It does HDR also"
This is a weird lookin' radiator:
Of course Apple would call it Extreme Dynamic Range
I've not had the pleasure of using Spectrum or Cox
chonk
also end G1/4s? That's just weird
Studio Display XDR
27ā 5120x2880p 120Hz
2304 dimming zones, 1000nits fullscreen and 2000nits peak
$3,300
yeesh i was hoping it would be like $2K
or even less preferably
no new 32ā it seems
they relaunched another 27ā 60Hz no-hdr studio display at the same $1600
If these are a thing, expect college campuses to be littered with them
Why this looks like paper
hey pal at least you can SEE your sa voltage⦠I only have an offset š
@topaz veldt itās got 140W thunderbolt 5 for your macs bro you need one
the company that release a $1000 monitor stand btw
also the company that sells a $500 mac mini that brutally mogs any new pc at the same price
and a base iphone 17 that is a great value
I mean, it's a 1k phone
not to glaze apple but they do have a few good value products
$600 iPhone 17e still appears to be 60hz. its hard to take that seriously after getting some hand time with an S25 FE recently
itās $800 and you get flagship performance today along with 7 years of software feature updates
potentially a decade of security updates
Eek
Post tax and tariff,it 1k
I forgot to make coffee
L country
yeah i donāt understand the appeal in the E
itās a significant downgrade from an $800 base 17
That's most of the world
Here the base 17 is $799 out the door
itāll end up being a company and law enforcement fleet phone after they stockpile dead stock in warehouses
sold for cost
My company will be buying 17e and S25FE in droves
Oops didn't mean to leave ping on
The iPhone is theoretically much cheaper for the company too which is wild
its ewaste
I haven't used 17e but I just got up and got our base 17 and S25FE. The FE feels like a proper flagship device
itās a good fleet phone but consumers should just pay the extra $200
or get a 15 pro or 16 pro in a carrier deal
entirely down to the larger size and fluid feeling display
The Samsung FE is very well made now
Which I would expect as it creeps up in price compared to the S20/21 FE
now i wait for Kuycon to make a 27ā 5K 120Hz studio display clone for $1000
with a real OSD and PC support
maybe even 5K 165Hz if they use the same display scalar as the 2026 gaming monitors
Still on USBC or there will be display port or hdmi?
the new studio display XDR is thunderbolt/usb only
Kuycon makes monitors that look like Appleās, but with real PC I/O
There will be limition outside of apple ecosystem
I still don't know where TB5's asymetrical 120Gb/s mode would be used
I assumed that was part of the spec at Apples request for a future display
5120x2880@120hz doesn't need it
my poor PC cant even properly hit 100 fps on marvel rivals
i havenāt seen any practical application either
Multiple pro display xdr gen 2 (hypothetical)
maybe to transfer files between a macbook pro m5 and external drive(s)
now that they have gen 5 nvmes
Daisy chain displays? not sure if their monitors even support that
ouch
DSR for 5K?
yeah was pranking a friend
tbf that games like weirdly heavy
iāve been trying to use CRU to remove the 4096x2160p resolution from my LG C4ās EDID so that DLDSR works, but i think they patched the ability to do it
ik heās being funny but that game is weirdly heavy
so DLDSR always uses the 17:9 res and that stretches your image when using DLDSR
itās like 5400x2880p or whatever instead of 5120
really? well thats annoying. I still haven't bothered trying DLDSR and its been around for a while
i think you can still do it on C2 42
to get actual 5K and 6K 16:9 instead of 17:9 stretched
itās a bit annoying because iād like to play with 5K or 6K for better antialiasing
I just need 5K 240 on a giant monitor please
I don't understand why 4096x2160 is even an option on consumer 4K displays
Super annoying when games default to it
yes, and that happens more often than it should
I thought of looking into a way to nuke that resolution from my windows install but idk
Sounds like a way to break shit lol
probably would need to do what michael was suggesting and just stop having the display advertise it
Yeah
360hz for 98 fps
Itās easy to do
i believe itās because LG OLED TVs are used as client reference displays in movie studios
and the reference footage is 17:19
itās really stupid that i canāt just delete it to get dldsr working though
So you're saying if you're set to the proper native res, it still won't let you enable it?
you can enable DLDSR, but it ignores your set native resolution
it uses the 4096x2160p 17:19 as the baseline
which gives you 5400x2880p or whatever in game which stretches the aspect ratio
I mean really whatās the point of running higher than native
Ok thats wild. super dumb
I get like supersampling or whatever but
super sampling, yeah
Yeah any form of supersampling Iāve ever tried is way too much performance hit for what is a super marginal quality difference
the beauty of DLDSR
I've not played with it personally but I would imagine not, given its done at the driver level.
you can use the DLDSR resolution in any game that would ordinarily support a higher resolution
I see
but you can also combine it with DLSS in newer games to get better antialiasing for minimal performance cost
thats where my mind goes all mush trying to work that out
8K Valorant
DLDSR + DLSS
itās similar to how 1440p DLAA and 2160p DLSS Quality perform similarly, but 2160p DLSS Q looks better because itās super sampling to a higher resolution
Ha, when you explain it like that it actually makes more sense
that would be so epic
this is one nice display to have
is it the red magic?
165hz
yeah its the rm astra
165Hz for smooth scrolling while reading books
optimal
If LG released a 8K 42ā OLED that was at least 144hz Iād probably buy it no hesi
this is so much greater over reading on my phone
Well, if it wasnāt $70,000
165hz at that brightness level, curious how long that battery would last
vrr definitely
uh guys why does my pc randomly black screen and restart?
no idea, needs troubleshooting
how do I check whatās going on..
the display gets slightly warm but its not that bad
how do I increase my ram voltage by 0.01?
you use the keyboard
no which setting
Set them all to 2
why would I overvolt it..
is the ram voltage āvpp_memā
heres a hint: D
OH MOTHER FUCKER
M5 15" MBA starts at 16/512 for $1300
Y'all is this my next laptop
OOH
ādear TC2 the pc is now not bootingā
IT HAS 4 SHADES OF SILVER
fuck that might be my next laptop
I mean 3 shades of silver
And one shade of very dark uhhhh silver
Okay the midnight is actually dark
But that sky blue is only blue in Timmy cooks dreams
i love midnight
This is actually pretty aggressive from apple ngl
with these ram prices, apple ram pricing is actually kinda reasonable
A brilliant time to flex your margins and purchasing volume against the PC competition
fuck you AI, making me defend apple pricing
Apple is charging $3300 for 2304 mini LED zones
Sad
I was really hoping Samsungs 5K QD-OLED was destined for an apple monitor
But I think apple has a real brightness concern
yeah their new standard is 1000nits fullscreen
the latest qd oled monitor panel can only do 300
and it has contrast problems in bright rooms
Okay
You can run dual Studio display xdr (5k 120) over single thunderbolt 5
Does that even use the 120gbps mode
In Apple's defense, M series MacBooks have generally been decent value
Although I think the M2 was the exception there. Not great pricing for the M2 airs
yeah that would be around 114Gbps
apple doesnāt use DSC, or at least historically hasnāt
so it probably uses the 120Gbps boost mode
i donāt think there are any 12bit panels that arenāt tens of thousands of dollars
True 10 bit or 8+frc
Is 10bit + frc a thing
I may have seen some "12 bit" advertising that's actually 10+frc
iām not sure
i donāt see why it couldnāt be a thing
12bit isnāt really used by anything public though
Okay I'm pretty sure 10+2 is a thing which is what I've seen advertised as opposed to true 12 bit
just BT.2020 mastering monitors i imagine
It's gonna be such a good week for podcasts
Best buy?
Uhhh BB may not get SDXDR in stores though
i havenāt seen any apple monitors in bestbuy over the years
my nearest one barely has pc parts
Mine has a mini apple store idk how else to call it
@edgy laurel i gave up and ordered an ultimate 2
LOL. I mean thats great but it also means you're now stuck with a $200 malfunctioning controller
i looked at the diy tmr repair and it was extremely out of my skill level with soldering
damn. well, which Ultimate 2 did you get, the BT or the wireless
cause the BT has Nintendo layout button faces as we were just reminded with @shell void
evernight because it came with a protective case, xbox layout so wireless?
ok nice
shit kyoko is onto me
