Ok, some context here...

A chip heats up due to it doing something. Power is needed to do that job thus resulting in heat being generated. If you were just sitting there in HWiNFO looking at the CPU temp, in that same list will be usage. To add to that, Task Manager's Processes tab will let you organize by whats using the CPU

so if you want to know why your CPU was heating up, step one is determine what its doing

If it comes down to its just at 100% load, then thats fine.. may just mean the cooling solution isn't up to the task

not many laptops are meant to sustain the CPU sitting at 100% load for extended amounts of time
