I can't add my second stick of ram, it doesn't boot

i’m half tempted to try and use my mpower on the 9800x3d

because i wonder if my 8600 no boot was shitty board or cpu tapped out

topaz veldt
#

@turbid locust I am settling. I swapped my H16A in this morning and tried some fairly loose 9000 timings/voltages and I think I have determined my CPU just cannot do 9000 reliably. This will be my daily for now until ARL-S/NVL

#

I am back on the H24M 9000 kit and just running 8600 CL38

LM Studio released a headless version today, so i finally set up LM Studio on my server with Open Web UI => now i don't have to run LLM stuff on my desktop. It is slower, obviously (only 5700G with DDR4-3600), but hey, at least my desktop is not screaming šŸ˜„

green marsh
#

@topaz veldt i mean it ain't great speed, much worse when i also transcode stuff with the same CPU at same time šŸ˜„ . But it works. Wish i could grab a spare 16GB GPU for it, but meh, and i won't put in a 1080 Ti just for this, lower idle power consumption is better for me than better LLM performance when used just once in a while. I mean ~20t/s ain't great, but also it's free and on CPU only

#

lxc CPU usage stats are super confusing tho

(the CPU is used elsewhere, but it is visible in LXC šŸ˜„ )

@merry stirrup

gentle loom
#

okay here is results if anyone is wondering, my gpu seems quieter now and I am on rdr2 180hz 1440p it is running butter smooth and here is a screenshot of my temps while playing this (I am in the snow in game)

#

the gpu is sagging a little the fans I must of not screwed it in properly but it isn’t affecting my fans like grinding noises etc so I will leave it until tomorrow to fix it.

#

it’s about 60c+ idle still but I am fine if it runs okay

I wasn’t wondering but thanks for letting us know. Can sleep safe now with this knowledge

topaz veldt
livid flame

Decent card still

gentle loom

it’s 6750xt model 12gb vram

#

I bought it used otherwise it would costed me like $630+ or something.

livid flame
#

Yeah it was pricey for what it was new

#

Still good cards tbfh

gentle loom
#

still is pricey

#

anyways my gpu memory junction current is 89.3C and climbing still.. not sure if that’s within safe temps.

low sorrel
#

Wtf that's... Cheaper then I thought

gentle loom
#

my card is undervolted and overclocked also

livid flame
#

I’m considering a build before ram goes up. Wanted better than a 7800xt. Came to realise I need a 9070 or better… GPUs not moved on much at that level when 5060ti 16gb isn’t even a better card for practically same price I got my 7800xt for in 2023

gentle loom
#

now at 90C lol

cosmic gazelle
gentle loom
#

okayy

#

I’d call this a success then my gpu temps did drop a little bit while idle from 39C to 33C so

Is anyone else running into this with the Ryzen 5 8600G?

So I’m trying to extract every last drop of performance out of this thing, because of course I am. I pushed the iGPU all the way to 3450 MHz, but at that point it just starts crashing the absolute hell out of my system.

It seems to stabilize somewhere around 3200–3300 MHz, but anything above that turns my PC into a stress-test roulette wheel.

Has anyone here actually managed to run the 8600G iGPU at higher clocks in a stable way?

If so, what kind of voltage, memory speed, cooling, or black magic are you using?

For an ASUS motherboard, if I want my 9950x3d to run at boost clock all the time, I just need to turn this on right?

fervent chasm

why would you want it to run boost clock all the time

molten iron
#

I wouldn’t turn on the Ai tweaked one?

merry stirrup

dont turn off cstates which is what youre asking how to do

and no thats not how you do it, but thats generally how you blow up cpus nowadays

fervent chasm

it boosts when it needs to

molten iron
#

I never mentioned cstates.

merry stirrup

full speed all the time

#

=cstates off

shell void

ryzen power gating is great, you dont want to force static clocks and c0 state

#

if you have a 9950x3d then you want to install chipset drivers and use the balanced windows power plan

oak vector

I can probably fw my pbo
Cos honestly I really haven’t tuned it muchhh

molten iron

So would I turn on the first picture and not the Ai tweaker precision boost overdrive?

fervent chasm

wasnt there something about the higher end x3d's blowing up?

merry stirrup

turn pbo on like you have, change it to advanced, change the pbo limits to "motherboard"
set scalar to manual and then change it to x1, set CPU boost clock override to manual, then +, then 200 in the box

#

then save and exit

shell void

if you forced static clocks then youd just burn a shit ton of power for no reason, and programs would grab your higher clocked non-3d CCD which would reduce performance
