Looks like the M5 has a faster SSD (I did notice the M4 pro was a lil porky, not bad just not boom 200GB transfered so fast you can't get activity monitor to launch in time)

With my (some say abusive) chrome tab use with multiple profiles open at once, does the M4 pro raw performance come into play?

The only real like objective thing I can give you (don't really know how to tie benchmark results into performance like i can with windows) is I have gotten the bottom of the laptop very warm, and use about 10-14% battery per hour in my real world use.

we found out the other day over an 18 hour period, that that is not viable in a home environment, you'll need to do a DAS to get TB4 speed which is ~5GB/s therotical. TB5 does not increase data speeds. Full feature USB4 (2.0) can go faster, but full feature v2 USB4 is hard to find. that will get you to 10GB/s of your requested 20GB/s

the other option is to go all Linus house with it and do optic and full commercial grade install Snail (who says he does this for a living) said its about $50,000 in parts. so after labor like $150,000 USD.

To be fair... I've run into generic Bluetooth related issues with multiple models of headphones on certain laptops. Not saying your work computer is the problem here, but it's certainly possible. 🤷 Regardless, 25+ years later and Bluetooth audio still sucks so I just use Logitech's gaming headsets with their 2.4GHz USB adapters.
