That offers the performance you're after, in the games you play at your preferred resolution

#

Drop this idea of an ideal "pairing"

#

its not a relevant metric

alpine creek
#

as in would i better getting a cpu on par with them, like its not causing a botle neck

edgy laurel
#

You're talking about all latest gen / modern parts. Bottlenecks are not something you should be concerning yourself with

#

That stupid word needs to be banned until people understand what it means lol

alpine creek
#

i do because i wont be upgrading for easily 7 years

edgy laurel
#

that has no relevance

#

what is relevant is once again, buy the best you can afford. thats all that matters

#

especially if you plan to keep it for 5+ years

#

Mods, can we warship "bottleneck"

alpine creek
#

your a very dismissive person, could just say wether you think the pair would work and if it would matter about bottleneck, quite rude icl

edgy laurel
#

If the GPU would work.. of course it would work. If thats the best you can afford, then thats the best option.

#

No one can answer this mysterious "bottleneck" question because it simply doesn't work that way. You've been led to believe its this static "thing" that needs to be avoided but its not that simple. Every system has a performance bottleneck that will change depending on the game.

#

If there wasn't one, you'd have unlimited performance.

devout ridge
#

not just on the game, but also the resolution and exact settings you choose

edgy laurel
#

And we know that isn't the case.

fleet marsh
#

My pc's bottleneck is my pc.

edgy laurel
#

My bottleneck bounces between my self imposed framerate limiter or GPU performance depending on the game. In some UE5 titles, its my CPU.

brisk jolt
edgy laurel
#

In some others, its just the engine itself.

#

There is far more to this concept than just your CPU and GPU pairing.

I'm sure its the way I went about it but this question, or rather misunderstanding comes up multiple times a day, year after year.

brisk jolt

This all stemmed from ZTT

edgy laurel
#

Ha, yeah I was gonna say, blame the youtubers

brisk jolt
#

well, mostly.

devout ridge
#

And continues to exist because many other tech creators like to perpetuate the idea

grizzled lily
#

not everyone has time research and understand all parts, all good, given the question ans provided

devout ridge
# alpine creek simply dont answer

So you don’t want an accurate answer but instead an incorrect one that feeds into your preconceived notions of how PC performance works?

grizzled lily
edgy laurel
devout ridge
#

Anything from the most recent generation will perform admirably for the foreseeable future

wraith steeple
devout ridge
#

also true for the previous generation

grizzled lily
edgy laurel
#

End of the day, guy wants a GPU to last him 7+ years. You buy the best one you can afford, period. You can elaborate on games you play/intend to play and resolution but 7+ years is a LONG time and games are getting harder and harder to run.

This is the only thing that makes sense, not worrying about some hypothetical "pairing".

devout ridge
fleet marsh
#

i mean... im thinking about getting a 5070 ti just for wow in 1440p lol. kinda a waste lol

brisk jolt
# alpine creek simply dont answer

go back to watching ZTT for advice im sure you’d like brainrotted easy to consume content over people with experience and knowledge who have a way deeper understanding.

#

We would hear you out- But you didnt state any specifics and started lashing out

edgy laurel
#

Two keywords come up everytime in these situations. "pairing" and "bottleneck". Its at that point you know you've gotta clear up these misconceptions on what matters and what doesn't because they've been misled.

I'm saying if its an annoying question then just ignore it and let someone else answer, and the reason I say I didnt like your answer originally is the way you dismissed my thoughts, takes 2 seconds to be polite, as well the fact that i was asking because if there is a gap in performance now, as someone who doesnt know alot about it i assume with time some games will be more cpu dependant or gpu so if one is weaker in 7 years i thought it could lead to a bigger bottle neck, and yes i didnt state specifics becasue i was rushing for an answer because im excited about a new pc, and you say i lashed out i simply said that i thought his approach was very dismissive, and that if a question annoys someone and they are going to let that be portrayed over text to simply ignore it. I also find it quite funny how everyone jumped at me for saying so, apologies for thinking people dont mind helping out others

# alpine creek I'm saying if its an annoying question then just ignore it and let someone else ...

I'm going to try one more time to try and help you understand that this worry about "bottlenecks" is making your goal of building a PC more complicated than it needs to be.

I have a 7800x3D and a 4090 and I play at 4K. If I play vampire survivors, a top down basically 2D game, my "bottleneck" is my self imposed framerate limiter. If I play Alan Wake 2, my bottleneck is my GPU. If I play (at least back at launch) Stalker 2 my bottleneck was my CPU.

You always have a performance bottleneck and it shifts around

The people that need to care about this are the people trying to play games with a 13y/o CPU and say a 5070. That CPU has no chance of keeping that GPU fed with data to allow it to perform at 100% in modern titles. Not a chance in the world.

Examine the connector in front of you with your eyeballs, problem solve how its meant to latch and unlatch, then use your fingers to remove it. If it isn't coming out, either you're not strong enough or your not holding the latch. This isn't solved in any other way.

This is why I don’t recommend purchasing Radeon 5000 or 6000 cards despite how good their performance is. AMD decided to cheap out all RDNA 1/2/3 series cards and took away most of the computation (matrix) unit (CDNA) and made them effectively only good for rasterization. In the same time, NVIDIA kept the computation (datacenter) unit on their graphics card, aka the tensor cores, which made nvidia cards much stronger at interference, upsampling and frame generation than RDNA 1/2/3. please realize, as a profit driven company, AMD doesn’t care about you at all, and all they want is just profit, through means of whether or not hurting the consumers. While NVIDIA still actively maintains rtx 30 series, AMD already made announcements ditching their counterparts, without even getting the drivers on par in terms of performance with NVIDIA. Shitty companies will always do shitty practice, and when AMD introduces UDNA, RDNA3 will be ditched as soon as possible as it’s totally a completely different architecture. RDNA4 will stay a bit longer as it resembles the next gen UDNA, however don’t expect anything from a shitty company AMD, and they will not deliver anything. Don’t ever expect them getting the drivers good before totally abandoning you. If you are someone who pays some level of respects to yourself, avoid AMD graphics cards PLEASE, and go nvidia.

today i was debating with coworker about what to buy for the company AI testing. I recommended the framework desktop motherboard as a good start (128GB LPDDR5x-8000 for sub-2k euros is good, even tho GPU only gets 96GB)... and then the discussion ended up with me counting how much memory my computers at home have.

Let's just say i was horrified. 128GB (5700G system) + 64GB (3900x system) + 64GB (9950x system) + 64GB (2950x system) + 64GB (Mac Mini) + 128GB (X99 system) + 48GB (second X99 system) only for the main computers :D. 0.5TB right there :D. Plus the "little systems" with 4-16GB RAM 😄

Hiya! Im.looking for a case recommendation. So many options so I have trouble deciding.

Constraints:

  • 360mm AIO support
  • ATX mobo
  • 140mm PSU Short ATX
    Extra wishes:
  • no needed extra fans, i have plenty of my own
  • relatively compact for an ATX build
  • Ample airflow for the GPU

I have checked out the o11d mini v2 and its sadly not compatible with my mobo.
Ive seen the Thermaltake View 380 TG which is okay.

But i am also looking for options that arent fish-tank. Like the not yet released Deepcool CH660

yeah i’m going to be real idk if i sleep enough for -400mhz+ to be worth it

i should make a post on ocn about it

#

maybe there’s a secondary voltage that we don’t set?

merry stirrup
#

maybe. it seems that this freeze also causes the cold boot bug for me

#

i’m thinking it’s voltage related if it didn’t change w/clock

pure garnet
#

it stops at 30d2d for me

#

so that's why i've been dailying that

i don’t think so i think this is more of a cpu sided problem

pure garnet
#

dropping d2d is always what fixes it for me

merry stirrup
#

the board is definitely not the problem (unless we figure out its ocf only) but idk

#

it happened on master too
