im a long term linux user. like early 2000s long. ive used it as my main operating system for a few years in the 2000s and im still operating several computers on linux (granted, except for one they are all servers), so its not like i am naively going into this. it comes with some caveats, which is why im still on macos for daily use. but the worse the privacy and locking out of your own system gets, the less these caveats matter. eventually chosing linux will be the smaller inconvenience. we arent quite there yet for me, but its strongly going into that direction for both windows and macos

Understanding how size, resolution and PPI play a role in your experience with a display is a difficult to "tell" someone. 100% something you need to experience to understand and then its incredibly obvious almost immediately.

You might not notice a pixel difference, but if you do any type of productivity work on your computer, or even just check emails whilst also having a calendar open, 1440p is the sweet spot for 27-32 inch screens IMO. (You can go 4K at those sizes too... Just depends on your eyes and whether or not the programs you use properly support DPI scaling.)

we saw that 12:9 (4:3) was ideal for a computer monitor, and that 21:9 was ideal for movies, and then we standardized a middle ground of 16:9 for both that isn’t ideal for either application

and then a lot of movies continued using wider ratios anyway which gave us black bars 🔥

My main issue is that due to my limited space i'm forced to go no bigger than 25 inches, and at that scale i was worried i wouldn't notice a difference between 1080 and 1440, but if you all are convinced i will then i can just get two 1440p monitors and skip the whole comparison step, the difference in price between the two monitors is like 30 bucks anyway
