Following up on my 5900x temps issue from the other night - what's with this spike to 80c when all I'm doing is YouTube and browsing? Idling at 65c right now (still too high, ambient temp is much better today though), but it just jumps up out of nowhere! Those last two spikes happened while I was typing this, YouTube paused, nothing really going on.

change your fan control with ramp up and ramp down delay. With 5000 series, a single core load is enough to spike one core temp to high temperature, which then is used to control the fans

I can definitely play with fan curve, but this PC has performed perfectly since early 2021 when I built it. Overheated CPU 40~ days ago, replaced thermal paste for first time in 5 years, turned it on again, assumed fixed, but first heavy load overheated again.

When I wiggle the mouse around in a figure 8, it jumps up to 3% and stays at the top of my CPU chart, temps raise about 5-10 degrees.

In fact, that was something I wanted to do in some capacity, just not straight mini discs outright. In fact, I kinda wanna take it from being just 6.7' to 7' in diameter, use both track-width modulation and multi-level recording to drastically increase it's data capacity and read/write speeds, and then have it as a multi-format type disc that uses the same lasers for the current formats with said methods so it encompass them all for different layers of storage where needed.
