Hotplate will melt the solder and weaken the underfill which allows it to come off cleanly most of the time. You can always blast it with a hot air gun on max but that needs to be done in a well ventilated area. It smells awful and is probably pretty toxic but the substrate is able to bend and you can pop the die w/o issues

Hydrofluoric acid is great for delayering but it’s insanely toxic and corrosive. Lapping is safer but harder. Using a blade/lapping should be done to remove the underfill

Yeah the proper equipment is expensive. It’s pretty hard to evenly delayer by hand. Even the needed lapping film is probably $30-50? You can get away with a flat enough glass surface but it honestly depends on what you want to do

Hi! i need some advice, bought a used RX 580 about a year and a half ago and it's already dying. With simply put shaders in minecraft the PC simply crashes and restarts. I was thinking of buying an RX 6600 for 230 usd new (i live in mexico, its the cheaper new gpu beside a 3050 6gb), it is overpriced? I have a R5 3500x and a pci 3.0 mobo.
A new rtx 3060 12GB cost 80 usd more that the rx 6600, is it worth paying the extra?
And I know I can get something better if I look for something used, but with this bad experience I had before, I prefer to buy new. I only play Minecraft, valorant, osu and some story mode games (i have a 1080p 144hz monitor, but the more "story" games i play them on a 768p TV hahaha)
