If it's $100 then that's my entire standard salary
her phone can run a vpn fine but her pc literally blocks any vpn site and installer
¼ or ⅔ my salary if I am getting extra pay
Yeah, when it’s from a trans puppygirl, it’s very often too nsfw for public chats
Tis discord after all
Yeah that too x3
mrrp :3
Mrrreeeooow
if it’s blocking the site it’ll probably also block their servers which is a fancy way of saying it won’t work
so there's no way to send the fully installed version with all the files and only an installer will make it work
that blows, so does the uk
actual surveilance state
She can burn the isp offices. Anarchy!!!!!
What? I've never heard of an internet provider blocking VPNs
I'm in the UK
yeah there's a law that lets them do that
(“For legal reasons this is a joke”)
some are more trigger happy than others about it
Which provider is she with
most just block the big ones but virgin apparently blocked mullvad
she managed to find a workaround tho fortunately
I am currently with Virgin and I've used nordvpn and proton before with them, those worked fine
well that's fucked
ISP can basically block what ever they want if they stated that they have that right in the contracts
And continue to
either way she got it fixed fortunately
Yeah makes sense
and the uk is still trying whatever they can to outright ban them
You can always download it with a hotspot through mobile data
She can still go and burn down their buildings
nah didn't work either oddly enough
There's always going to be a work around
Also there's routers with built in vpns
Burning the buildings!!!!!!!!!!!
had to fuck around with wifi adapter properties
That you can buy
Yeah oh no
That’s not an isp related issue
yea ig not in this case
Proton VPN has a setting called stealth which helps bypass VPN blockers
that was the main reason for it not working that kept showing up tho
either way good news it's fixed, bad news is uk still sucks despite that
it is what it is
helps (these technologies are really good but they can always be detected one way or another)
Indeed
Use Linux GG
How much does thinking influence token usage? I was using DeepSeek with Ollama but then they nerfed free plan (supposedly until more capacity is added) to make priority for paid users. Now I am using a different model and idk if its because it has ri think now if DeeoSeek was well optimized or something but I'm blowing through a lot more tokens and usage now. I went a week with good heavy use and didn't run out of tokens now its gonna be 2-3 days maybe 4 at most if that even and I'm gonna run out again and for the first time I do worry about my session limits per few hours running out as well. Not sure what models to use or switch to and trying to keep my token usage to a minimum.
you know what helps even more? Getting your own 3rd party router
So you make it much harder
Yes, like me, but you’re still limited by your isp’s restrictions
Definitely helps you fight back tho
Gives you more privacy that's for sure
Yes but still not that much better, mostly give you better control over the hardware
Meh, depends
Custom DNS server, 3rd party router, VPN, firewalla, Linux, tor browser
I'll do what I must
Yes but your traffic still goes through your isp one way or another
At least I can mask it
Or use those things which spew out random traffic
Mix my traffic with random traffic and mask it
Fuck it develop your own internet provider company
(Good luck, wouldn’t be that difficult but you would need to buy your own ip address)
Money
Gimme
They are really expensive and no one wants to sell them unfortunately
You know, I bet there's a price they'd sell it to you for
A couple of billions, I think they'd budge
Obfs4
Yeah, but that’s basically impossible to do, cause multiple times they’ll force you to get moar than one at a time
Grrrr
Thank you kind sir
thats if you can install it, from what im reading in this chat they can't even get proton in
could she tether her phone's data to her computer and use a hotspot with her mobile data?
Yeah, Ive got it installed thankfully but yeah they struggled to
what games can i play on this setup? core 2 duo e6400, gt 740 evga (good airflow), 8 gb memory
ive mainly played team fortress 2 and dota 2
Amazing retro gaming setup
Retro games? Yes
Anything newer than 2019? No
You might get away with 2016 and newer games, but that gpu is a major limit
battlefield 1 on low

I need help
I tried manual updating my truenas scale to a version that supports 10 series gpu with a GitHub mod
And now my NAS is not booting and stuck at VGA during post
Even after I remove the gpu from my system
My CPU has a built in iGPU
Tried cold boot tried clearing cmos
Trying premium gas for first time 🫨
Hoping to this actually helping with fuel economy
only really helps if your car requires premium
also what the fuck, that’s what i pay for regular gas
Yah if your car doesn’t say that’s what it needs, waste of money
You might think it’s better fuel economy or something but it’s placebo
My psvr is very happy right now
Why does my phone get hot when I use fast charger ?
Like my sleeper?
electromagnetism and inefficiency loss as heat
What adapter do I need to use this ancient keyboard with my computer
Looks like a ps2 connector
Why do people care about AI being in video games?
Actually maybe not
Idk if that nudge is normal on them
Show the pins, top down view
its ps/2.
AI slop
you can get adapters very cheaply
Literally $2 on aliexpress probably less
Would the keyboard even work with modern PCs
yes
My car recommends premium but I've always gotten 87
My cars minimum octane rating is 91
I put 93 in it
Putting 87 in it is not that big a deal as long as your knock sensors are working
Waste of money then to put 93
The station had either 87 or 93
East coast has 93 while west coast has 91
It seems like more and more modern cars are getting separate fuel economy tests and values so you can choose between them
Only few places have both
Putting lower octane fuel results in poorer fuel economy because the ECU is setting back the ignition timing which decreases power
is there an actually decent in windows partition manager that doesn't want money from me
Today i learned the apple studio display xdr has as much ram and storage than alot of peoples phones
Its also powerful enough to even run cyberpunk 2077 on its own 💀
@frigid blade
How much
12gb of ram, 128gb of storage, apple a19 pro
Bruh
I'm actually trying to compare the 3 without any sort of bias.
Which is why I omitted data.
2 is best
Hands down
I think 3 is the worst.
That's what you get with budget VAs.
What display is that
I mean... Just up the vibrancy ngl
1 is a 21.5" iMac (not the 4K version sadly, 1080P), 2 is an Acer Nitro 27" (1080P 165Hz), 3 is an MSI MAG 27CQ-6F.
There is a "better mode" on the MSI, but that almost looks too vibrant in a lot of situations (looks like max gamma on an HDTV from 2008 if you know what I mean).
It's also way sharper with that mode enabled.
Acer
iMac backlight bleed
Yeah the non retina iMac is a rather unimpressive display
It's definitely better in person with the brightness turned down though. Still not as good as 2, but much closer.
anyone know why im getting this?
You have been compromised
Celestial life is invading
Nah jk try another browser like it says
im using firefox it should work
You likely have some kind of script blocker, anonymizer, or an add-on that's messing with CloudFlare's anti-bot system. Could be as simple as tightening up the built-in privacy settings or disabling certain JavaScript settings. If it works in another browser, you'll know it's Firefox.
It works fine in Microslop ForcedBrowser™
Not sure what that is but okay. Anyway, that proves you've modified Firefox from its default state. You'll have to find out what exactly what changed / added / removed and then undo that if you want to pass CloudFlare bot checks.
I wonder if it's one of those weird sites that only likes chromium-based browsers.
Also, try opening the website in Private Mode (disables all extensions etc.)
Could be. I know CloudFlare lets you specifically target User Agent strings (in addition to a bunch of other identifiers), so one could make it so that Safari browser users must complete a captcha whilst all other browsers can sail right through the check.
if cloudflare breaks from having PrivacyBadger running then maybe I should stop giving these website makers my visit
Conversely, if Privacy Badger prevents CloudFlare anti-bot verification from working, the website admins could argue you're not allowed to visit their site. 🤔
To be clear, I'm not for or against whatever your or anyone else's preferences are - I'm just telling it like it is, that's all. Website admins have a ton of tools at their disposal... Sometimes they need them to prevent DDoS attacks, which in turn sometimes also means you can't access the site if you disable scripts or block elements on the page, for example.
maybe im not allowed to visit if im not giving them my personal data
just like some websites now want to make you pay to reject cookies
you will own nothing and be happy type shit
Yep. Enshittification is here to stay unfortunately.
the enshittification of Mozilla has me getting ready to pack my bags, but probably to a fork or something, since Gecko is like the only option that isnt Chromium Based
Too bad Safari is the only purely-WebKit browser that exists on computers (I specified PCs/Macs because the PS4's browser was also webkit)
I also love how website makers that have site features that only support chromium tell me to use a different browser to continue like lmao no im just gonna close your site and never visit again
gnome web does exist. linux only though
uses webkitgtk
looking for a cheap (500-800$) small, slim, and long battery life laptop. Currently looking at an ideapad with an 8845hs for 450, but i figured id ask for recommendations here
would LOVE a thinkpad, but 7840/8840 thinkpads are crazy pricey
i cant do gamery stuff. Ive gotta take this to work so no rgb and gamery logos
a hs series is NOT good battery life trust me
cookie clicker on a server seems like a good place to game without being caught
if anything you should grab a wildcat lake chip
better than my other options at this pricepoint
Narwhals narwhals swimming in the ocean causing a commotion cuz they are so awesome
jayden daniels man so inspirational
battery life go 8840u or Ryzen 7 250 if looking Ryzen
Browser not supported
supporting what kirashi said but it looks like a modified version of a browser (in your case firefox), website makers disable some user agents for security sake
sup nerds
I see this asus swift pg27aqdp for sale from 1399 to 899. Should ai grab it or should I wait for the gigabyte mo27q28gr?
what website is this and what browser
normal firefox or hardened?
wym hardened
I have like a few extensions like UBlock Origin, Privacy Badger, Canvas Blocker, NoScript etc
but nothing too like major
i have a job interview on monday and im thinking of getting this psu with my first couple of pays, is it good? it will be powering a ryzen 5 3600 and an asus prime b450m-a and eventually an rtx 5060
maybe its a shitty website and doesnt support firefox
What cable do I use for the gpu, I’m kinda confused on the one that came with the gpu on the other end of it is 3 heads of 8 pin connector
what card is it
wait no
use the pure black one
i thought that was a 8pin xd
12pin
use the one that plugs directly into the psu
So it’s that little cable that powers the gpu? Why have I seen people connect a huge cable to the gpu then?
Ah I see
Well both of these cables are 12pin but the one that came with the gpu has a different connector in the end
thats the adapter
the best measure is using the one from the PSU
Alright thanks
Was I supposed to hear a click when plugging the 600W cable to the psu? The 12v 2x6
hear/feel
I don’t hear any click with that cable
Is that not all the way in? I’m using a quite a bit of force and I’m not sure if it can get any lower
yeah if you cant push further it should be in
that seems to be fine
So that’s the maximum that it can go in? Does it look like that for everyone?
oof i type slower with my mechanical keyboard
maybe its the high profile that i just cant get used to
i always keep pressing other keys
cuz of how wobbly it is
i am trying tasker with the free trial, it's not going well, kinda shit
compared to automate and macrodroid a lot of things doesn't work out of the box. and you would need to download extra plugin which cost more money
however powerful it could be, i just can't get some of the features to work, and the developer basically just said it's what it's because of the restriction of xiaomi having on their device. but i know it could work because it worked on macrodroid
are you sure you aren't plugging it other way around ? I mean isn't that the GPU side plug ?
What the hell did you download
Or is this a custom ROM
pardon me
Yeah it’s the correct way both of the sides are the same
the auto correct auto corrected tasker into tasking
What is tasker lol
automation app for android
is the 600W label on both sides ? Because to me it looks that side should be on the GFPU side
Why use that
Yes it’s labeled 600W on both sides and both sides have the same connector
to automate some tasks
i would say it is not plugged in fully, but it's your PC/house to burn down /s
Does it always look like that for every one or is it fully inside?
i don't have superflower PSU, but yes, on every PSU i had it had to go all the way inside
Tasker is massively overrated.
sadly i can't get write secure settings to work on tasker
i need that
other ig while people complain about it's very difficult to use, it's actually fine for me
Why predict when you can be patient and have real information?
So life more fun
Not blackwell
Next gen.
Ah, I apologize, I am not that dopamine starved
No one cares about ada either
so you say GeForce RTX6000 series. And no, i don't expect 6000 series before end of 2027 at all
When was 5000 released let me see
Wait it was released in, 2025?
I thought it's been 3 years already bruh
Ok we have a long way to go then

there were 2.5 years between 4000 and 5000 series. Now we have also the shortages. So late 2027, early 2028 is the most optimistic scenario
I really thought it's been a lot longer
At this rate we will be lucky if we even get super ti versions
I still remember people telling me to wait for 5000 ti super to release, exactly a year ago
They were saying it's only one month away!
before NVIDIA got greedy, it would have been ~in 2-3 months from now (they usually had around 18-24 month cadence of releases). After 3000 series, whent hey realized they hit a goldmine with AI and stuff, they said screw you little guys
Yeah fair enough its tough
I wish doubling vram of existing GPUs were easier
AI by itself is not an issue, but doing so at expense of smaller market is
I was talking to this one guy the other day and he told me he was able to get 4090D 48gb easily
Just opened eBay and bought one
those are common for chinese market
ask chatgbt on how to buy stuff from china
Lol
What I'm saying is he bought it easily from ebay
In US
If you go on eBay now there is plenty of offers
Man im working on some weird stuff
It's also pretty easy to get those in the US lol
They're functionally 4080s with more VRAM, so idk how much they're worth it though
You can grab em off of ebay even, they're just $4000
Omgg
That's what I said 😭
Like 2 times
did the bios update complete fully?
Is it fully in now?
yes
Yes
Now the original CPU won't boot too
B450, so the old CPU support was probably removed by the update
Rn I'm trying to get the old CPU, the 3400g, to boot but it wouldn't work
The new CPU the 5700x won't boot
So neither CPUs can work
maybe new cpu is faulty and after bios update you cant test the old one because support is removed as parandroid said?
This is ridiculous
Should be noted that after the bios install the old CPU did boot
My home screen tablet
eh i got a a320 that can do ryzen 1000 and ryzen 5000
but yea worth checking
kinda an odd question, but I need a camera to monitor remote equipment in my workshop, I only need maybe 1fps at maybe 720p tbh, could be REALLY low spec, but i want something that is lan enabled with no cloud nonsense and won't RAT my entire network if I connect it to wifi, is there a product that meets these needs for $20 or less?
I use I think wyze cams to monitor the exterior of my shop because i don't have to expose my data on the cloud, but that's a little pricey for a camera that just has to face a machine so i can do a quick "is it on fire or broken" check every hour or two
it also does not need sd card recording capability
is this below the port or for something else hidden behind that copper heatpipe
if it's below the port in question then it is likely for a wifi card
given that it is labeled WLAN(wireless local area network)
hard to tell from the angle, the WLAN label could be under something else
but if it's labeled wlan it's for wifi
what laptop model it is ? But it is either for WiFi or mobile network modem (do you have a SIM card slot?)
I think yours is a M.2 sata ssd
Btw guys, Google says this is for 2280 but I think 2280 is too long
NVME*
looks like 2280 to my eyes
I;d say 2280 as well
consult the manual
is my monitor cooked
did you bake it
the bottom half is like flashing with black horizontal lines and it started out of nowhere
tried reseating your display cables?
yeah
different input on the monitor?
its display port
is there only one display port on the monitor
yeah
that's unfortunate
Don't know if this is an IoT LTSC thing but my bloody Trackpoint works different now
Pressing the button between the trackpad's left and right click doesn't keep the cursor in place whilst scrolling up and down with the Trackpoint anymore
Could be a driver issue
This might be better, idk
No it seems like an actual feature
It's showing me new symbols during it
Ltsc shouldn’t be making a difference with how the hardware is working
Although Trackpoint scrolling doesn't work on anything that isn't chrome lmfao
Oh
I'll check for updates idk
Ohh interesting, maybe the driver wasn’t installed on the previous installation
Hoooooly shit
Might be a setting in the Lenovo app if there’s one
I've got like a dozen updates 😭
Oof
I have a synaptics - mouse & Lenovo system driver update
Probably that
@plain cypress
:3
Lots of forums and videos on what to choose
Plus you're being way too general
You’re the type of person that needs windows (allegedly) upcoming better update system
I just want to switch to Mint.. But it's still so annoying to use to a degree </3
What do you need it for? which currency? (And don’t say “dollars”) which features do you want/need?
You quite literally said
"Best laptop under 1400 dollars"
You could be in the US, Canada, Malaysia
That dollars could be USD, CAD, AUS
You could need a professional or a gaming laptop
What you sent is quite literally what someone would type into Google
So, please, be more specific
What exact currency, where you're from, and what're your use cases
My grandma is using mint on her t430 :3, she’s pretty happy with it (but when you have to use windows stuff like the office suit it is annoying)
LibreOffice could work but atp it's just too much of a hassle to try and install it - mostly because I am so tired of installing and updating 💔
Going to let Windows update itself for now
What sort of work are you doing
Yeah but what sort of work
Yeah, I get you, I was on a 10mb/s connection at home before we finally upgraded to 500mb/s
Are you going to use Microsoft Office only or something that actually needs to be $1400
Assuming that's USD and not CAD or AUS
@spark tusk
hmmm, I noticed that 4GB DDR4 dimms are still somewhat cheap
like 10€ per stick cheap
You’ll max out at 16gb on a typical consumer mobo
And the speed might be atrocious
Worth the gamble in my opinion
You can still get like, 2x8 2666 for around the price that 4x4 would cost
I need to put together a secondary rig and I really don't feel like pairing any of my other 2X8 kits with a 9600K
Mmmm
Fair enough
And also 2400mhz is fine for such CPU. Based on my testing 9th gen did not really dislike slower memory the way ryzen does
the online marketplaces are full of these
where as 2x8 even at 2666mhz is around 100
Honestly
Worth
You can probably OC them manually to 2666-3000 too
Yep, really worth it
Corsair Vengeance kits will probably do 3000 easy lol
I'm starting a new job in a few weeks so I'll have some extra. Really considering on spending maybe like 80€ for some of those kits
i could return it and get my money back, what do i get for 400 dollars
4 kits of 2x8?
For €80?
That's honestly good to a degree tbh
Which currency (and no, “dollars” isn’t a currency)?
2x4*
Oh oops
2x8 are like 80€ per kit
$400-450
That's a pretty stupid markup
But, oh well
us dala
Oh oki
US Dollary Doos
so whats good around the 400-450 range? looking for a gaming monitor with decent colors
I have a sceptre 24” 1080p 144hz monitor that I absolutely love (curved too) it’s in your price range, let me try to find it)
so uh my second monitor is a curved 165hz 1080p 24.5"
Googled their 24in 1080p offerings, they look pretty good tbh
stone age resolution
yeah
I forgot I was good at cooking 😭
i just switched to a 1440p monitor
1440p is also an ancient resolution from the zhang dynasty
4k resolution is propaganda
i also upgraded to qd-oled
4k is the modern standard and 5K is up next
modern standard for tv's. not monitors
I'm curious, does this cooler still work well in a pull configuration? A lot of people said to me "You're cooler is installed wrong"
nah bro keep coping on your dinosaur age 1440p resolution
setsuna got his first 4k monitor and now his ego is through the roof lul
i was using DSR 4k on my 1440p panel back then
And why do people dislike AI slop if they can’t tell if it was made by AI?
If the companies just didn’t reveal something was made by AI, no one would have an issue with it
I have to get a new motherboard
So should I get a b550m pro v dh WiFi or a b550 aorus elite ax v2
ai slop means that something is clearly ai
No way someone was able to tell this was made by AI
that doesn't look like it was made my AI, it looks like it is rendered by a game engine
the one that is cheaper and has the IO you want
Ai girl ?
The b550m is cheaper by 100 but doesn't come with an extra pcie for lossless scaling
needing lossless scaling to do what you want is lowk skill issue
Yeah but it's cool rocking dual gpus
You couldn’t even tell it was the art what was AI generated
She looks like 20 yr old from the
in the game lore diana is literally an AI anyway
Atleast she isnt a baby in jar like the other game
its a very simple drawing its very easy for an ai to make it
Yeah but why does it matter whether AI made it or not ? It looks fine
It would've got it wrong anyway. Lol
If there were random text gibberish then it would make sense to blame AI
no?
Samsung Odyssey G3 LS24DG302EUXXU 24" 180Hz 1ms FullHD Gaming Monitor - 1920x1080, HDR10, HDMI, Displayport, Freesync, Height Adjust
https://amzn.eu/d/0egdrQ04
Microsoft invests in OpenAI. I use Codex desktop to gut windows services and telemetry. The circle of life.
What makes this monitor so cheap?
The specs sound like it should be a lot more expensive
Too “precise” for a kid’s drawing
Can be ai generated
The stars are way too well done and there’s some kind of perspective with the rectangles around the drawn character for it to be made by a kid of that age (I was a summer camp animator, I’ve seen plenty enough of drawings made by kids around that age)
And there are some kids that draw really well but it’s really rare
Isn’t Diana an AI anyways
Yes, and?
an AI making AI generated art seems appropriate for the character?
Yes, and? I don’t see what it has to do with the drawing being made by an ai (in the real world)?
I agree with that honestly.
There are certain details that an AI will do too well to match what it was asked to portray.
so if AI did it well would there still be a problem?
It looks like a copy+paste.
Couldnt they hire a kid to draw it
Yes, wasting fish’s water
Or do it themselves with a pencil and paper. Lol.
nah in a way how they did the AI drawings with diana its a passionate thing
I may be dumb but I don't understand how using water to cool datacenters is an ecological problem
The used water will just go back in the nature no? It's not polluted in any way to my understanding
The ecological problem to my understanding would be more like the insane energy required to run them and thus the pollution created
(The clouds move and said water will only potentially come back in a very long time)
Old datacenters use evaporative cooling to deal with heat. New datacenters recycle water and use heat exchangers. The ecological problem is that evap cooling pumps shitloads of water and dumps it into atmosphere.
Yeah but does it take that long to come back for it to become a problem?
If only people realized how much water is wasted by the massive amount of ethanol corn corps the US grows. The estimate is in the 10s of billions of gallons of water every day.
Also if new datacenters don't do that then it's not really a problem anymore?
And in the majority of the world, electricity is produced with focile fuel and charcoal
People latch on the to absolute worst secenario without educating themselves
Yeah the energy part is what I always think about indeed
the energy part is the problem. The water part is... also a problem but extremely overblown due to media coverage/ragebait
Really, I feel that just the combination of everything is the problem, not any singular thing happening.
Do we know how much kwh is used when asking say one question to chatgpt?
(If you use beetroots instead the whole thing is more eco friendly since the beetroots capts more co2 than burning it’s ethanol produces)
VA Panel
very little power. If you're asking it to freewheel for 24 hours than probably 24kwh
Yeah ok
but then multiply that by however many questions are being asked
It's around the price you should expect a VA gaming monitor
get rid of the crops all together and plant solar panels instead
Yeah who needs food
we don't eat that corn.
What
it is grown to be turned into ethanol to be put in your car
extremely little corn is actually grown for food
When you could eat the corn, get calories, take a bike and here we go, biofuel
Beetroots also uses much less water than corn (iirc)
turn the human poo into biofuel 😄

farmers would be way better off if they invested in a massive solar array
and they wouldn't have to farm.
Could, especially for grid energy.
they would have passive income
Also don't data centres just use a stupid amount of electricity
iirc the average data centre uses enough power to almost match the output of a single RBMK Reactor identical to the one in the Chornobyl plant
Brother what
at some point there will be a fusion reactor for every datacenter. Hopefully before I shit the bed
Not really. Some of them actually live off their crops and livestock, and that food has to come from somewhere.
You are hopeful mol
That corn isn’t good for us (and also, corn as a food is wasteful, your body can’t process the outer shell)
Someone saw technology connection’s marvellous video?
At least we can grow other crops for food, though we'd probably be doing it at lower volumes.
(It’s really good)
Indeed
I have been into clean energy since I was a child
there's a youtubes with this info? Is it good?
Same but he made a really good explanatory video about solar panels fields
oh shit
I will googles
My neighbors are like "You know those solar panels will never pay for themselves."
Let's learn and grow. New things are cool!
Links 'n' stuff down below. Lots of links.
First, the "clean version." Please pass that around.
https://youtu.be/Zgxb8I1nk2I
Jerry Rig Everything's video on battery recycling
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2xrarUWVRQ
If you'd like a legal argument from an actual lawyer which highlights the uniquely...
This one
bitch, how much u payin gas right now? Cause I ain't paying anything to charge my truck AND my house is almost independant from grid power
No to mention the resulting light and earth population
Watch the video till the end before showing it to them, trust me there’s a very good reason
Firing up
Yeshshshshsh
now I have to see the end of it first
Really what we need is more gardens for growing food than massive industrial farms, unless for cotton and such.
Do you have a really short tldr? I can't watch
Speaking of renewable energy I kinda want to do silly shit like install small solar cells on everything
Solar panels= good and much much better than crop fields on various points (it’s been a while so I don’t 100% remember which ones) and then he goes on a very good and important political rant about solar power
Like, as small as the ones on calculators or such
Or small cells that you see on larger panels
(Sometimes these are fake unfortunately🤦♀️ (facepalming towards the stupid concept of putting fake solar panels on calculators))
Aw
Well atleast the ones on Casio calculators are real
I own one from some brand named "Unit" though
nuke type of a rant @stark flicker
OK yeah
@deep musk Thinking of something silly like putting a solar panel on a car and connecting it to a small hybrid inverter which then connects to a battery
Ohhh nicey cars uses dc tho so no need for an inverter (iirc solar generates dc)
Oh no I am not talking about connecting it directly to the car's battery
But to a separate battery
Maybe something like a 12V 50Ah or 100Ah
With a basic UPS system connected to it, would let me plug something into it whenever needed
Ohhh (still having an inverter would add more losses since you would still need to convert it back to dc)
Oh
So I can just.. Directly connect it all to the battery?
Or should it go through the UPS first
(To charge said battery)
Also I am pretty sure it's not called a UPS, the system that handles all this
I just don't know its name in English
With a dc battery management system and charger
Everyone just calls it a UPS
Dc -> ac is an inverter
Oh
Yeah fair enough
Would only be needed for powering a home
Bweh I should probably cut the discussion here since I am talking about things I can only do when I am an adult lmao
Did you got the laptop?
Yeah!!
How is it?
Laptop is good, Windows is not
11 or 10?
mb
my friend is at the point where he’s considering a 5070Ti laptop with 16gb ram 💀
What 😭
5050/5060 laptop is 2.2k region mainly with the 14700HX config while the 2.7k 5070ti 16gb ram has a 275HX
SGD*
thankfully ram isnt soldered but its a bugger
Should probably wait for the 5070 12gb mobile tbh
If he wants
thats expensive icl
Less expensive than a 5070 Ti
I'd personally just recommend a 5060, it'll be okay enough if given proper wattage
15" MacBook air
i rec’d a 5050 but jesus laptops are so shit
The only ""good"" budget laptop is the Lenovo LOQ
Lenovo Legion 5s enter the quotation-less good range
idk how he went from increasing his budget from 2k sgd to 2.7k
like dude wants to spend all his financial assistance on a goddamned laptop
An LOQ with 16GB and a 5050 should be anywhere from 7-800 USD
Or, converted, 880-1050 SGD
They have 100% sRGB 1080p 144hz screens at their lowest end
10% electronics tax and 9% GST included
Eitherway, I really wouldn't go below an LOQ
Victus laptops have lower power budgets, worse build quality, and worse screens
bro that 5070ti is a strix model with a 115w tdp
5070 Ti 115W
What the fuck ❤️
with a 275hx, matte IPS 240hz screen
im not sure on the screen res
he’s doing engineering work but surely this is fucking overkill
atp he might as well just keep his 4050 with the mcdonald sound from the charger and get a proper desktop like bro
Yes
That’s what he should do
A desktop will definitely be cheaper
Used parts can come in clutch
If he sells his 4050 laptop then even better
if he gets another laptop he’ll sell the 4050
Does he need a laptop
Does he actually travel enough to justify the purchase
Because 2000 SGD is definitely enough for a complete setup
the 5070ti laptop is alright if he wants to “game” with an external monitor bcs its about a 5060 desktop but… 16gb is not cutting it and he still wants a desktop
this guy is dumb and ass combined rather than taking the IT guy of the group’s advice
He wants both a laptop and desktop?
yes
but like whats the point overspending on the laptop
you yourself also stated its heavy at 2.5kg
He can just, like
Use DLSS on his 4050 laptop
Enough compute and resulting FPS to be usable
Spend the 2K SGD on a desktop
If he really wants to he can sell the 4050 laptop and get a 5050 one
Around 4060 mobile performance, and should be cheaper than a 4060 laptop
But, imo
Just get a desktop
4050 will be enough
thats what ive been telling him
best part is I can sell a 2tb ssd to him for relatively cheap and lend him a 24gb stick of d5
Ig fair
When upgrading a mobo can I just take my ssd out an put it in the new one or do I need to wipe it
Building a new Pc
Installed a RX 6600
With the windows basic driver, it works
As soon as I start installing the Adrenaline software, the GPU shuts off
The fans stop spinning and I have no video anymore
nah dont need
Ok thanks
is it a fresh install
Of windows? No
I have removed all old drivers with DDU tho
have you experienced problems like this in the past or is it just occuring now
It's occurring now, it's essentially a fresh build
Did you buy the gpu second hand?
No, brand new
What cpu do you have?
inb4 300w type shit that cant handle even the 120w rx 6600
Real
Risemode Zeus 550W
Tf is that
Sounds sketchy at best
It's not like the whole computer shuts off, but it looks like the GPU doesn't send signal anymore.
it cant be that bad
CPU fan is still spinning. And I use the shortcut to reset the graphics drivers and I can hear its beep
have u tried any other monitor cables
That's a possibility
Yeah it was the cable
The fans not spinning is just passive mode
Thanks for the help
Is that a 2013-2015 macbook pro?
“zeus! your son has returned! and I bring about the destruction of ur pc”
Idk it’s my girls
She has an iPad that has a way better processor
Does it have usb-c?
Yessuh
Can i see the keyboard?
Life changing info
You can usually tell if a mac has an intel processor or apple silicon just by the planet icon on the function key
NVIDIA Rubin & Rubin Ultra Platforms Facing Design/Spec Issues As Per Rumors While AMD MI500 Positioned For 2H 2027 Launch. Oh,no it's happening again
Whats happening again?
AMD can compete with Nvidia
They already were able to
Nvidia will panic and skip a gen, half bake in process
😭
has nvidia ever panicked against amd post like, 2013
You can tell by the touchID button. Intel Airs don't have touchID. The only one where it'd be confusing is A2338 vs Intel Touchbar models
But camera notch generation has the fat touchID sensor
Depends on what currency your country uses and what you need it for
That means nothing
Are you going to be doing any intensive activity, or just web browsing and light coding
Looks like my paper is going to get peer reviewed
Liberal arts, so a lot of writing
Paper im working on has 224 pages lol
Ryzen 5, Core Ultra 5/i5, 16GB of RAM, that'll give you plenty of headroom to do most things that aren't gaming
get macbook neo and be done with it
You should be able to do something with 500-600
Neo is hard capped to 8GB, and Apple walked back their "actually 8GB is enough" BS
Like, to just have? Or for your laptop
You put a GPU in the laptop your price for one worth having jumps to 700-1000
for what
You don't need a dGPU for that if you aren't gaming or rendering
iGPU can handle high refresh rates outside of 3D render just fine
Very small part of paper Hybrid setup:
A nested 10 mK support architecture that replaces direct Vespel rods with a multi-material, thermally intercepted suspension.
Instead of running solid supports straight from 4 K to the mixing-chamber/sample stage, the load path is split into:
-
Kevlar 49 tension fibers
- Carry mechanical load with very low conductive heat leak.
- Main purpose: reduce direct conduction into the 10 mK node.
-
G-10CR flexures / structural guides
- Provide alignment and lateral stiffness.
- Used where geometry/control is needed without creating a large thermal short.
-
Thermal intercepts at intermediate stages
- Heat is dumped progressively at 4 K, 1 K, 100 mK, and finally 10 mK.
- Each intercept removes parasitic heat before it reaches the sample node.
-
Final Ag-sinter / high-conductance sample link
- Provides strong local coupling from the cold stage to the diamond/sample.
- Target effective conductance: G_eff ≈ 1e-5 W/K.
Purpose:
The hybrid setup prevents the support structure from acting like a heat pipe into the 10 mK stage.
Claimed model result:
Direct Vespel rods: ~2.88 µW into the cold node.
Hybrid intercepted Kevlar/G-10CR design: ~0.167 nW into the sample node.
Improvement: ~17,200× lower support heat leak.
Why it matters:
This is the part of the architecture that makes the 10 mK thermal budget plausible. Without it, the support conduction alone can dominate the cooling power and warm the sample stage. With it, support conduction becomes a small nW/sub-nW term instead of a µW-scale failure mode.
What do you plan on playing
Also did you answer the question I asked you before of which currency
USD
Oh, interesting
Nah kids dont talk like that lol its intentional
^
Kingston XS2000 is it good? do u recommend any better ones? i want something that lasts years without losing any data or something and abit of durability
An ARC B390 iGPU is around the power of a 50W 4050
But anyways, 500-600 for a decent 60hz no GPU laptop, MAYBE 120. If you want a GPU and/or 240 then you're anywhere in the 700-1400 range
Check out the newest ASUS vivobooks
what
Unless I just don't know, your wording feels off.
Does Core Ultra have DG2 cores?
and are sold on laptops in the price range of rtx 5060/5070
aka dead
It's a TLC drive, should last fairly well
Any x86 PC is either having great battery life or great performance, you can't have both, its literally impossible
DG2 Cores?
DG2 is Arc dedicated graphics right? And DG1 was the Iris XE stuff
is 20hr battery life not good enough
bc thats what core ultra 200v+ gets
That's good to hear do u recommend any other ones?
Look at the newest ASUS Vivobooks, already said that
Besides standard Cores, TMUs, EUs, and ROPs, it has 96 XMX cores & 12 RT cores
Does it have a DGPU?
20hr is not as good as 30hr on macbook arm or snapdragon but even x86 gaming laptops can get 10hr battery life easy
Oh dang
Not while doing any 3D rendering
I am not one to ask, sorry
i see thankss
not funny
x86 refers to Intel/AMD CPUs
Just get anything that's atleast 5-10 Gigabit, made by a reputable company, and has a TLC NAND
You want a lenovo thinkpad x1?
ThinkPad X1s? Bad idea for you
L
They usually carry U-SKUs, which don't boast good iGPUs most of the time
Are soldered only, and have less thermal dissipation space
When you say soldered only are you referring to RAM?
@deep musk Returning the favour in showing you silly convos
Honestly in today's market, that's not really something worth worrying about
goalpost moving
$600 oled screen x86 20hr battery laptop
Yes
What if the ram dies? Or you want to move them to another laptop?
It's especially important in today's market
Even Chrome renders 3D. My point was that under normal circumstances any x86 laptop with a dGPU is not getting 10 hours battery life on Windows
arm is good if u want to charge like every 2 days instead of every 1 day
Those "heavy load" tests aren't running 3D render they're running GPGPU compute
They are
I got called slurs in their server
I take the same approach to ThinkPads as I do the furry community
Simply enjoy the content/product, stay away from the community
almost all laptops with dgpu turn the dgpu off on battery
amd gaming laptops get 10-12hrs fine lmao
VFM?
hmm fair
and if they turn off their dgpu theyre back to igpu
aka the same as the competition thin n lights
If you buy soldered RAM, moving the RAM to another laptop is a weird point to harp on
But RAM dying is a completely valid concern. If you aren't able to RMA the board then your only cost effective option is for a local shop that does BGA to replace the RAM, same goes for upgrading
However with the current price of RAM on top of the added cost manufacturers slap onto modularity, I begrudgingly say soldered RAM is a better value at this time
Of course LPCAMM is a thing, but barely anyone adopts it
I am not listening to an LLM lol
However, most of what it said is correct
Oh fair
Yeah that's true
I got a ThinkPad T14 G1 with a 4750U & 16GB for only $300
both amd intel have options at 10hr+
and at the same config the apple arm m2 only lasts an hour more
That Ryzen AI HP Omen is actually super impressive for x86
Bravo AMD
Okay that's fair
Although you can still find middle of the road options like the modern T14, comes with both soldered and socketed
intel is also up there with core ultra 200H/V
I’ve lost all words
LLMs are a good research tool when you already know what you're looking for
They are not a good research tool when you don't know what you're looking for, which you've expressed that you don't
its all dependent on how the manufacturer sets it up for battery
the stuff at low battery have the same specs but last shorter bc theyre less aggressive at throttling performance, turning off rgb etc
Overreliance on LLMs and other AI products leads to mental stagnation
The Ultras with ARC iGPUs in the 200 series are honestly really good
Ofc ofc
If your laptop can pull more than 65W you can definitely game on it
no
Not GREAT gaming, like.. 2050/3050 4GB (maybe 3050 6GB) performance, but still good for an iGPU
First ask yourself if you want to pay for a 16 inch screen, if you need to
And what is your budget
The Legions are good laptops with adequate cooling and decent parts
US$1400
Oh shit get an MSI Summit then
A Legion 5 - Like the 15AHP10 or 15IRX10 is in the 9-1200 range
The models of those that have dGPUs usually get low wattage
we dont even know what store/country/options u can buy from
Like, 45W 5060s lmao
how do u make recommendations with no info
Brain usage
They're business/productivity laptops, not gaming laptops
But they're very nice and having had one myself, they can game fine
there are times where rtx 4050 gaming laptops sell for $450 in which case its totally unbeatable in price:perf
working on it
go to ur local mall and hands on with actual laptops then come back with examples of what u liked
I understand that, but at the price point he can get something fairly decent
can anyone help me why is this happening on idle
Summits are like, what, 1000-1200?
ppl hjarp about specs so much but in reality its the screen and keyboard that u use 99% of the time
Yeah the summits are "fairly decent" wut
Worded wrong, sorry
I meant, fairly decent in terms of compute power compared to a summit, whilst not sacrificing much in build quality
Which one of these two offers better cooling performance?
They're identical
Only difference is fans, which I assume are the same model but with lighting
Lemme check though
165hz iirc
Yep
Identical
P12 Pro vs P12 Pro-ARGB Fans
600-3000 RPM, 77 CFM
6.9mmH2O Static Pressure
@deep musk Moment of truth, time to see if the new Windows download was worth it
AMD Drivers downloading
Yay it works
I can finally do shit on my laptop
Let’s hope it works
Where this gif from? I love it lol
I just came here
Just silly wagging whilst stuff burns,,,,
Tenor
And?
No I meant, actual content source
i found this one at my local market:
Samsung T9 2TB Portable External SSD
is it a good option?
guys my minecraft is suddenly getting lag spikes and low fps for no reason, i used to play at 32 render distance and still hit 200 fps to 300 but now its very low. I tried allocating half of my ram (16gigs so 8gigs) and it did fix it a bit but im still lagging as hell can someone help
Ohhh nu idea unfortunately
why would I give a shit?
A wagging tail is apparently too much
Yeah, people are truly boring
Not a man
Check your temps, maybe throttling or something?
Did this happen after an update?
But still, go to #1027757333117415424 like Poignée said
All i said was i just came here ahahaha
i never even said the gif was too much xD
I mean.. "I just came here" whilst replying to it sorta gave that vibe
No just randomly i don’t even know why
Feels like a cope out ngl
Yeah assumptions man
Also @deep musk I am getting ads for Radeon W7000 lmao
Because I am installing the Radeon Pro Drivers (default option that AMD gave me)
Still not man, neither of us
AMD thinks I am a professional user with actual professional needs.. No sillies!! I am a dumby who bought a Zen 2 laptop for gaming!!!! (And work to a degree)
And is so silly sometimes
Theoretically if a board designer wanted to be lazy and not route traces in a way that cancels out EMI, could they just throw a grounded EMI shield overtop of that board area?
Ever seen an original nes’s insides?
Nope
(Basically, Yes it’s possible)
I see
Big shields
A couple years from now, provided I have the funds to get Intel/AMD to even allow me to get a couple CPU's for prototyping and electrical specs, I'm strongly considering designing an ITX (or mATX) embedded board for NAS's
Because all the Chinese stuff, even the expensive ones, just don't have what I would need
wild
That looks interesting
That entire metal part is shielding?
That's awesome
Yep, basically
When tech youtubers say "upgrade to an OLED" are they usually referring to a traditional WOLED or a QD-OLED?
which panel is superior?
Basically, I would want to cram 8 SATA/SAS (or 4 SAS at 12gbp/s) drives (through 2x SFF-8643), plus 1 or 2 eMMC footprints (BGA-153), on top of two PCIe 4.0 M key slots compatible up to 22100, and a PCIe x8 slot (or x16 should I have the physical space for it)
If I went the mATX route, I'd probably go for 3x SFF-8643, with an additional PCIe slot that could be used for whatever
1 or 2 2.5G ethernet. Or 1 10g and 1 1g, the reasoning behind this is PCIe lanes are needed more for storage IO than networking
The hardest part would be designing a properly robust power system and EMI concerns. I'd hire someone to do firmware writing because nobody can force me to code not even myself
An N100/N150 isn't capable of what I'm describing, but something newer could
Qd
Alternatively if I had access to PCIe 5.0, I could do some bifurcation shenanigans with the chipset to get more 4.0 lanes
Thats a ton of stuff to cram in an itx board, also this class of coy will never be able to run all this stuff
Wtf lol
China can cram 8 full size SATA ports onto an ITX board, 2 SFF-8643's isn't unreasonable (actually it's far more reasonable)
And yeah the Intel N class is not capable of this, I know. That's just my reference point because that's what's on the market
Realisticallyt I'd probably have to do something core/ryzen. But then there's the problem of an embedded CPU VS a mobile CPU. Mobile will not have the same amount of lanes as an embedded one
But idk if Intel/AMD even make embedded CPU's more powerful than what would be considered super budget
I guess you could technically put solder balls on the bottom of an LGA CPU, but that's beyond cursed
Also the reason for embedded over socketed is to keep cost low for the consumer
The idea behind the particular type of NAS i'd want this for is something that does files, and a little bit of docker. Maybe light AI with a dGPU. Not making gaming VMs
Super silly and interesting
Oh and also the china boards typically have like 10 million COM headers.
I'd have 2 USB 2.0, 1 internal USB port for a flash drive, 1 USB 3.0, maybe 1 USB 4.0, FPANEL, ideally fTPM in the CPU, and 1 chassis fan header meant to be used with a hub
Thats not alot at all
ATX 24 pin, no 4 or 8 pin AUX power if avoidable
But very niche
I know, the point is to save board space for robust IO IC's and power delivery
Ryzen 9000 embedded can have anywhere from 6 to 16 cores, with 28 Gen 5 lanes
holy based AMD
Robust io and power delivery for efficiency?
Reliability
Although only NVMe for storage allegedly
A NAS is supposed to run 24/7 forever
Yeshshshshsh
Thats not how storage works
I am just saying, that's what they list for storage interfaces
There are SATA/SAS controllers that run off of PCIe rather than dedicated southbridge lines
Anything runs off pcie
Oh gotcha
So basically no native sata
Not really
SATA as a standard was designed with special data lines straight to the CPU/southbridge. Running it through PCIe is technically a hack
Yeah that's what I was warning about
A ton of stuff runs on pcie but not everything
@fierce breach
Embedded goes anywhere from 9600X to 9950X3D
Oh that's more than realistic hell yeah
It's an exaggeration but almost anything data related can be worked with pcie
Even more cores? 9900X/9950X
Guy who runs a repair shop invents a new NAS board more at 7
God it'd be so cool if I actually reach the position where I can do that
If Russian and Chinese resellers can resocket boards, you can probably do more
They legitimately saw off sockets and put new ones
They also hack the bios so im not super sure if it’s that easy
I actually haven't seen any Russian boards on the market
Don't know what they do for chipset though
As long as processor and chipset generation match it's relatively trivial from what I do know
Also saw it off most of the time
Not saying it is, just mentioning what the "average" consumer can do
The main concern is electrical compatibility
And software support
Hilarious
Ohhhh okii
I'd be looking to make a legitimate product from the ground up
That's why I said the biggest barrier to entry is cost. Intel/AMD are going to want me to be willing to buy a tray of probably 50-100 CPU's before they even entertain letting me get access to electrical information buried under a million NDA's
Brb peeps going to resocket my Haswell B85M and turn it into an A620
lol
Let's see if AMD kept any DDR3 compatibility from the AM3 days
Highly unlikely
Else I'll saw off the RAM DIMMs too
Probably not on purpose, would be FX hiding in the landing gear bay
Now that I think about it
The Chinese boards have so much COM and GPIO because they're probably repurposed industrial designs
Yes, that’s why, they wanna be able to sell them to as many people as possible
Makes sense
My hypothetical design is the ultimate home/small business NAS board. Its primary purpose is a NAS and only a NAS
The lower the cost is, the higher the adoption rate is
Of course I have a financial incentive, but my main thing is this product doesnt exist and it should
kinda an odd question, but I need a camera to monitor remote equipment in my workshop, I only need maybe 1fps at maybe 720p tbh, could be REALLY low spec, but i want something that is lan enabled with no cloud nonsense and won't RAT my entire network if I connect it to wifi, is there a product that meets these needs for $20 or less?
Aliexpress
I use Wyze brand cameras(i think) to monitor the exterior of my shop because i don't have to expose my data on the cloud, but that's a little pricey for a camera that just has to face a machine so i can do a quick "is it on fire or broken" check every hour or two. it also does not need sd card recording capability
Just do it proper and go unifi
i don't love the idea of aliexpress wifi enabled devices on my network, i thought about maybe buying a cheapo camera module and an esp32 but i'm not sure if an esp32 has the bandwidth for a video camera
if it wasn't a wifi device i would buy the cheapest chinesium camera for like $4 in a heartbeat
buy from reputable brands
This isn’t AI generated btw
everything is made in china anyways
You’re either misunderstanding a joke or trying to get others to
The reason people say it’s “AI generated art” is because the girl is a robot child
all of the drawings are made by humans
aliexpress is not the only retail or marketplace where malware has been found
look at amazon, resellers sell the same junk found on alibaba
“No, my shirt was made in bengladesh” (im just messing with you)
noooooooooo i’m wrong noooyoyoyo
X3
aaaaa
S tier electrical work
SSS++
who needs insulation when you got copper
S for scary
i luv coppah
No it really wasn't I stopped after one test because it was squealing loud asf
maybe it was hungry
are you sure the cables and connectors are within specs
None of this is within spec, pcie 4x4 oculink to m.2 to 9070 XT powered by evga 600B but I need two molex to make a third 8-pin
Just listening to the wan show and for some reasons I feel like the next product might be an electric toothbrush (because Linux mentioned sanitary issues with a potential satisfaction guarantee)
do you want to kill your card
if you say the magic words youll be fine
"itll be alright" or alternatively "shut up"
Was just limit testing
the limit test won’t be a shutdown but melted connectors or wires
alternatively they short each other
what the fuck
