Can confirm. Happy DrivePool user since 2016. Love how I don't need the software to recover data if one of the drives in the pool dies, too.
I need to get 2 more 4tb sshd’s
DAMN 10 years. I wish I woulda found this that early.
I've been manually juggling a bunch of drives with a literal physical notebook to write down what I put where
now its just all pooled, with maybe 20mins of setting up the folder dupe settings
absolute bliss
Does it work similarly to a jbod setup?
He obv knows more than me lol, but kinda. it just doesn't stripe any data. full files are stored on each disk. So if something fails or you just take one drive and plop it into another computer, there's no BS. the files that it had, are just there.
pretty optimal for throwing random drives together. I've got 16 drives in mine, 1 NVME, 9 SATA, and 6 USB.
Writes are amazing bc of nvme cache
reads are a lil tough. Not the actual speed, but the latency. opening folders can take quite awhile when you're polling multiple USB drives
anyway- once it's all set up, yes.
ITS GREAT I LIKE IT
Nah lol, I never buy stuff
More or less. To be fair, it's likely less performant than a dedicated ZFS based NAS, but it's by far the best RAID-adjacent system for Windows I've found that doesn't lock you into a proprietary data pooling system.
DOA HDD's, mono with dead HDMI, a power supply that caught fire, dead SSD, and $40 keyboards that died before the return window ended ...
never buy a lottery ticket ever
took forever to download these and I just got a prompt saying I already have the best drivers...
No SERIOUSLY tho.
you need to start praying to a god of your choosing, cause god damn you have some horrible luck
About ot have to send this Bluetooth speaker back if I can't figure out this BS #tech-chat-1 message
I suspect the power supply shorting was a factor in about $2.5k of it.
i've literally only had to warranty 2 products in my life
superlight mouse
precision screwdriver
both were handled beautifully
and thats over like 20yrs
this is how I killed an entire system
friend was like "my computer actin weird can you help"
over the course of troubleshooting, plugged his PSU into my computer
death
Nice. Nothing like smoke pouring out of a system that you were going to wait to build until the case came in so you could put it all together at once... Considering the PSU you didn't shut off almost certainly I would have had a house fire.
that’s why you plug the known working psu into the dubious system and not vice versa
this was def a learning experience
circa 2014 i wanna say
rip 4790k
Ya idk wtf I'm dealing with here. Is this EMI? Or like do I need to order another house speaker? It's fully charged
can someone who understands gigabyte bios help me enable secure boot without getting locked inside the bios please im so lost🙏
What do you mean locked in bios?
i get an error about a signature or something like that and it locks me inside
Like these people did?
Any Australians got any server case recommendations.
I'm wanting to move my pc to my server rack but all the 4U options are really expensive and limited.
that thing
am i supposed to reset my pc for this?
what did you do to cause the errors? can you undo it?
Anything here that could be causing the garbled ness?
the error only appear when i try to "save & exit" bios when my secure boot is enabled
Just leave it off? Or is that a problem?
i need it on for vanguard anti cheat
I know the AC is a bit loud, even on low. I can't figure this out
Seems to be a lot to check to see if you are even allowed to turn it on without a full wipe
my disk is on gpt already
and csm is disabled already
i don't think i can enable secure boot without having csm disabled
did you install in legacy mode
install what?
Stupid question but have you restarted windows or checked to see if it happens on other audio devices? Cause I’ve had some really stupid audio bugs on win11 but they affect all output sources
The OS
Onn 4k plus
wdym os i don't understand
The windows, when you installed did you do it in legacy mode?
i don't remember
Microsoft says you must check if you did
how can i check
That info is included in the screenshot I sent, you can look at the Facebook post if you want to do the walk around.
should i just reset my pc to fix it will it be easier?
I mean a clean install from scratch with a clear CMOS is always best. Just depends if you wanna lose your data
with clear cmos? wdym
Well still have you tried it with other audio outputs?
inb4 you suddenly find out they had bootlocker running on their main drive and it's throwing the error because cpu change
#1027757333117415424 and make a post there, otherwise it's drowned out here
He can if he wants I don’t care that much
discord 😑, i swear i clicked reply on the other person
let me try pairing this BT keyboard and speaker to the mac and see.
It's okay for now, the other BT speaker was just rushing to sleep IMMEDIATELY and wouldn't recover [JBL Flip 7] and the Flip wasn't loud enough to overcome the 76db air-conditioning. The soundcore Boom 2 is fine, wish it was a bit louder, but I can deal with this. AND it stays connected even when it idles, yeah The does mean I need to keep an eye on it and make sure I charge it every two days but 🤷♂️
Okay with Mac even coming out of sleep it doesn't do it but that's because Mac doesn't halt the entire system to reconnect Bluetooth. 🤔
What's weird is JBL Flip 7 did not have this garbled problem. It just would refuse to output audio. And then if I played with volume up and volume down enough it got so latency stacked that the JBL unit would reboot.
So I need the JBL connection, without sleep disconnect, that is also 90w RMS like the soundcore 🤔 any ideas?
It feels sooo sketchy driving with a broken rear windshield
Hi guys. I have a question. I'm looking for the best cheap 2.5 ssd drive on the market. Which brand should I go with?
Glad i wont have to do that again
Read article that one plus is going to stop global launches
So the 15 the last one plus phone outside of China
I suppose
lets give a shoutout to av1
i would marry av1 i luv it so much
for nearly 100k yt videos, sub 4tb is crazy imo
Hey guys, got a question. I recently bought pc parts to put together, now with my psu (corsair sf1000), I can’t reach the 24-pin cable from psu to motherboard.
What can I do to solve this? Are they universal by any chance, can I buy a longer 24-pin cable? Or does it have to be specifically from that corsair psu?
How are you routing it? how big is your case? from what I've seen they're normally a pretty standard length
I could send you a picture in dm’s id you’d like
The most ‘optimal’ path for length doesn’t reach
maybe here
i need to do something similar
but for me it's more images than videos
so jpegxl will hopefully help me out
This was the mx length I could reach with the cable
that do be a short cable

plop psu up top “temporarily” then never look at it again?
sff psu's usualy have short cables
get an extension
Will be close with the gpu on that same height
An extension is viable? It will not give problems?
no its fine to use
if it doesn’t burn down in the first 24hrs then ur fineeee
Is there anything I need to account for by selecting the extension?
don’t make the same mistake i did when ordering a pci riser
ACTUALLY MEASURE WHAT YOU NEED
because a too short adapter is useless : )
I mean if you REALLY like that PSU... Cable mod will do custom cables, or sale the PSU and buy one that's sized properly?
oh it’s an SFX unit it makes sense tho
it’s meant for small pc
make sure they’re 16awg
That makes sense… Recommend returning or buying an extension. Not quite sure how safe it is
Thanks anyway for the help guys
well you're routing the cable incorrectly there, also what psu?
It was to show the length, the psu is Corsair SF1000.
it’s fine
so, corsair type 5 pinout then, no extensions needed, either you return it and get a proper atx psu or you get corsair's type 5 premium individually sleeved kit, which is the same used for the rmx shift line of psu's
btw us SFF people still consider the SF cables to be long
nah, you just get corsair's cable kit instead
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Premium-Individual-Sleeved-Starter/dp/B0G453DYVP @short kiln said kit
The CORSAIR Elite Premium Individually Sleeved Type 5 Starter Kit includes the essentials to upgrade your power supply to flexible paracord sleeve. Available in black, white, or black/white, they can match your system’s style or add a dash of color to an all-black build. The flexible paracord mes...
$49 for replacement cables, or return said psu and pay likw $100 -160 for a good 850-1000w psu
tbf, sff people could learn to make their own cables instead if they want them shorter instead of considering it as to long
I will return it most likely, any recommendations for 1000w psu?
ok
remind me of what gpu and cpu combo you're going for
also what case that is exactly?
rm1000x
that'll be the shift version instead now tbh
@short kiln ??
9070 xt and ryzen 7 9800. Case is Corsair 4000 cant recall exactly. Can look it up in 30 min
Thats also fine

Thanks for the help lads
does the 3080 undervolt well
What's the best result i can get I'll just buy it until i get good silicon
Yummy find at work
2tb ssd aswell
Lowkey crazy someone donated this to our recycling center
anyone use ASUS ROG Strix laptop here
When this was new it cost 7k eur/usd
Always wondered how they hold up over time, especially regarding the Liquid Metal and other stuff
I got a rog strix laptop at work that's completely dead
what happened
Seems about right for an Asus product
I feel very few people talk about it here
Asus
razer blade I heard has more issues
From just Josh tech, at least with ASUS when there is an issue they come out and admit it
inb4 more "1 product was bad therefore whole brand bad"
But with Razer all these really bad issues, they don’t say
I owned a Razer Blade probably one of the best laptops I've ever used
just Josh tech has made a video saying lots of issues with Razer
I don't like Razer it's my most disliked brand but damn that Razer Blade is goddamn nice
What about the battery bloat issues
And the keyboard issues, etc
Every battery has that issue
razer blades only real downside is the ridiculous price
Every single battery will bloat at one point it's how lithium works
the laptops themselves are high quality but definitely not enough to be 3x more expensive than competition
The build quality is prob the best of any windows laptop at least
Yea but some laptops do it faster
The razer blade config I had was an i7 9750H, Rtx 2070, 32gb ram and 1tb ssd
But there seems to an inconsistency in manufacturing of some laptops
With ASUS ROG Strix this is very common, with the Liquid Metal
Not down to the laptop it's moreso down with the lithium cells inside the battery
so it is true what you say in some way, with Acer they had it too before
I remember with the old Acer predators, from like 2018 etc
I got the razer blade for very cheap since it had battery bloat
Got it for like 250€ few years back
Like the laptop is great, but what I mean is many units are defective
Classic Razer
Yea but it happens faster on Razer at times idk
Lmao I literally have a friend with a Razer, it’s i7 11800H
Every battery is different
And the laptop is warped, literally wobbles on the table
finnish bald man
bulging back panel, while I had an old Acer laptop never had that issue
Some will experience it sooner, some might experience it later and some batteries will die before they bloat
Like I said Razer or any other brand cannot control physics
onoes my 1 example is definitive proof
my sister has a lenovo laptop with inflated batter ytoo
so obviously stuff like legions and thinkpads are garbage
Legion has some quality control issues
He already thinks thats true
lenovo cannot be trusted, they had 1 laptop inflate a battery so all their products are inflate battery faster
Damn I miss the 5k imacs, but ngl that temptation to get one of those retired from a school is real just beacause
At least based on my experience, had to return a legion same day due to defective assembly of the cooling system
Yea I mean there was inconsistency in manufacturing in my case
i also had an old hp laptop whos battery also died
therefore all hp laptops bad too
This also happens with Asus
i think my dads old acer laptop had bad battery too that need to be constantly plugged in
the laptop literally day one was having astronomical levels of thermal throttling. I think it was warped the cooling system
just someone messed up in the factory
nah hp is actually bad
The build quality sucks on omen
It’s cheap and it creaks, the hinge is also bad
some macbooks had horrible design issues that caused death by literally opening and closing the laptop
so macbooks are also always bad
Absolutely yes, happens in many brands
Wdym
Nah MacBooks have the best build quality
They last so long, just has bad thermals that’s all
I got a HP Omen at my work table rn it's made out of plastic fully but build quality isn't bad
lmao now that i attack their favorite brand with their own logic that they use to justify how many laptop brands are bad, they now ask for clarification and proof
absolute classic
Well yeah aluminum is durable
I have no favourite
what specs
All I care is that I don’t get a defective unit. And the laptop has good quality
dont some 40 series omen laptops have mobo issues
ive heard this for like 5 brands now lol
I'm lowkey fascinated by how every third worlder is attracted to the Asus Rog Strix branding
In a video I watched the reviewer said the laptop creaks when carrying it
Idk mine doesn't
It’s a great laptop other than the Liquid Metal issues
The build quality is amazing, it looks great
just get a snapdragon laptop
It has excellent thermals if the Liquid Metal is properly applied
is it 40 series
Asus Rog Strix models literally have controversies for very inconsistent build quality
The problem is with the Liquid Metal
The cooling assembly inconsistencies
It's an older model with a i5 6300hq and gtx 965m
oof
Not even that
That’s the main issue I think, Becuase sometimes it’s not applied well from the factory
That's just the tip of the iceberg
I haven’t seen ppl complain about build quality just mostly Liquid Metal problem
The hinges feel sturdy
@ebon marlin No longer budgeting for a phone
Buying a laptop instead 💔
Like what?
Isn’t that something with the LOQ
Asus Zephyrus Problem : https://youtu.be/q9XvgKsfQeU
This are but a few of the gaming laptop problems with questionable practices by manufacturers like ASUS, Acer, and MSI often leave consumers frustrated. From misleading advertising to poor build quality and legal disputes, it’s essential to understand the challenges buyers face. Here’s wh...
Lenovo loq has mobo issues
Asus literally has hinge cracking issues
Yep
Fixed in the 10th gens though
Isn’t that MSI
MSI literally is known for their hinge issues
Also MSI but also Asus
ASUS have cooling issues where the gases in the Heatsink literally evaporate lmfao
oh yes, I’ve heard that with Razer too
MSI also has shit build quality on everything but their most expensive laptops
But I think with ASUS it’s liquid metal defects
Mate Asus literally has issues with basically everything
And these are very regular for Asus
Brand new laptop is overheating people say, from the factory they butchered the LM application
idk about loq but i know omens have that problem
So then which laptop brand would you say has a lower level of issues
I genuinely do not understand what is it wkth poor peoples fascination of Asus Rog Strix branding
For example MacBook Pros are great, but they run too hot
I literally owned an Asus Rog Strix G14 not too long ago and the gpu inside it was completely dead
what laptop do you recommend
Every laptop has issues but if I had to choose I'd choose Lenovo no questions
Least amount of prevalent issues
Depends on use case and budget
I mean yea
If I didn’t get a defective unit it would be great
something with like atleast 4060 or higher performance and preferably with a good enough integrated gpu to play basic games while on battery
genuinely they do have good laptops, Lenovo legion.
Just as I mentioned we didn’t get a legion again
Becuase my mom didn’t want to buy form that store
Then couple years before this I had another Asus Rog Strix laptop it's battery became bloated and died, the body of it was very poor quality, hinge's were very poor quality, keyboard had issues which needed to be replaced
Dammm sounds bad
Yea there is less chronic issues with Lenovo
A defective unit is not their fault, it’s the factory, whoever was working that day messed up badly
Damn someone's selling a BC250 here lol
I wish there was a case for it you could get without having to own a 3d printer
ASUS zephyrsus does really have a cracking issue with hinge
Would've snagged it
I have even seen a reviewer say it, but the guy seemed too nice to complain about it
The Zephyrus G14 I had had decent hinges but the gpu dying was not nice
Also remember that reviewers literally get paid to do good reviews
Why did it die
heat?
It just randomly died one day
Wasn't using it for anything intensive
If reviewers give bad reviews they literally get blacklisted by the compnay
Iirc Asus literally had this as a controversy a year or 2 ago
Well what if they are not sponsored
The what, I’ve seen bad reviews of many gaming laptops
I am glad that the Legion 5 15AHP10 has VRR on its 1200p screen
some reviewers buy/borrow laptops on their own
That this reviewer has said this laptop is bad
Ofcourse ASUS was doing this shite 💔
Ofc it's the same company that literally breaks ur stuff to refuse RMA
Is there any issues with MacBooks in your opinion @ebon marlin
I don't use macs
The gpu fan rattling was not nice either
Ye, so it would be perfect if the thermal issues were fixed
This is why I shill for Lenovo ❤️
They're not perfect but atleast they're not MSI or ASUS
Yea Lenovo is good
Their laptops have issues but they're usually fixed a generation after
And people's RMA'd items aren't
Y'know
Broken to reject the claim
Yea I mean some models have had issues
But they were fixed I think next gen
When I mean issues like design problems, that affect all units
Also Asus downgrades their AMD laptop counterparts aswell
not just a bad factory assembly like I got, which is not Lenovos fault
What a dogshit company
Yeah factory defects are, well, defects

when it comes to macbooks the only issue i'm aware of, is to do with the cpu and ssd, which if it breaks it looks you out of the ssd
They usually appear within warranty period
Literally same exact laptops just with the option to choose Intel or AMD
Yeah, those usually get tended to
I think this guy says positive reviews about this laptop
Which is just back luck
That has for some reason come to me more than others, cuz maybe it’s a region thing
Pal hasn't even watched the video
Never experienced this in Singapore but did in UK frequently
There's an insane difference between the 2 despite being the same laptops
I have, I know this guy likes these
No you haven't
I once sent my G14 laptop in for a GPU fan fix and they replaced my CPU fan
You don't even need to fully watch it to see how glaring the differences sre
found jarrod takes a pretty even account of the laptops he reviews tbh @tall sandal
Lenovo hates the UK
Don't blame them, I do aswell
Pal is defending Asus like his life depends on it
He does yea, pretty good reviewer
It's a shitty company
Yea UK there seems to be more defects
not even making this up, before I bought this laptop.
Not enough
Make it blow up
My TUF, I had gotten 2 before and there was serious issues
First one kept blacking out, literally first few days
dang that’s tuf
And second was a Lenovo legion 7i, it had horrific thermals, was a defect
It was reaching 105C second I launched a stress test and having over 60% thermal throttling
Nobody laughed?
Fr
But hey at least my ASUS TUF doesn’t have any defects, the cooling system likely was assembled properly and thermal paste application is decent
Well maybe if you bought the premium version, the CPU wouldn’t be overheating
this was very premium, it was a defect with my unit
others on YouTube weren’t doing this, it was a Lenovo legion 7i
I don’t believe that it says trial version
That’s just a software to stress test
Get the premium version!
it’s ADIA 64
Maybe I need a tone indicator
I always use this on my laptops when I get it
this is my ASUS TUF, it’s properly thermals compared to that
@rigid fjord Jarrods tech really seemed to like the ASUS TUF A16
He never said anything bad about ASUS, but granted he doesn’t say anything about the brand itself
Just reviews laptops
Asus tuf also has low end stuff in it which aren't difficult to cool
They're cheap for a reason
Nah mine does have high wattage, it’s not massive, only was 102w
I mean Strix I have found models cheaper than this
But they have lower GPU, still this is the highest end TUF
Nah this ain’t low end
You won’t be finding many strix models with a high end cpu and a 5070 at 1.5k at 16 inches
I’m literally getting like 32k in cinebench R23
Asus Tuf is a low end line
Yea but this is High end CPU
It’s in pounds, laptops are cheaper in USA always
Asus Tuf is an entry level to lower mid-range laptop line
You can search it up for yourself if needed
As I said before the only reason I got this was due to lack of LM
I would have gotten the strix if it didn’t have LM
I got a Lenovo legion 7i before it but I said it had a defect, then after that parents didn’t allow another legion
the model I wanted was only in a physical store in the UK, and my mom never wants to buy from there again
TuF are their lower-medium end gaming laptops
RoG / Strix are their medium-higher end
Zephyrus are their highest end
Is this right?
You keep saying this every other sentence
You're like a parrot lol
Yea ofc but I’m saying that like this was the only option
Can anyone help me with my rgb on my fans I did a tech support forum
I’m perfectly aware it’s not the highest end thing lmao
Zephyrus doesn't necessarily mean their highest end
that compromises had to be made
Oh
I'll check it out then online
Yeah?
Strix scar is the highest end
For example the Zephyrus I had was a Ryzen 7 4800H with an Rtx 2060
Btw I don’t think Ryzen 9 8940HX is easy to cool
They have limited this CPU in this model to 100w and 135 very short term boost
Zephyrus is like their middle of the pack iirc
Like my pc fully works built everything yk works blah blah blah no problems I just can’t get the rgb fans to like shine
in The older model, this was 135 sustained and it was overheating
Strix would be their mid-high
Strix Scar is their high
i believe
Strix scar is the highest end
It’s premium, not highest end specs but it’s supposed to be really premium
but still people complain of issues with the hinges
I hated my g14
It was solid for the price but I’m never going back to that piece of shit again
Did you connect the 3 pin ARGB cables
What happened with it
This
honestly I’ve always wanted a pc, a gaming pc
I would have gotten that instead but parents don’t allow due to portability as I said
Yea defective fan rip
Okay so
TuF is their specific low-medium end line
Strix G is the lower end Strix
Strix Scar is the higher end Strix
Zephyrus are their slim line of laptops
Zephyrus G is the lower end Zephyrus
Zephyrus S is the higher end Zephyrus
yea ASUS TUF is entry level
I don’t think so u got a photo or smth
But that doesn’t necessarily mean hardware is low end
the highest end ASUS TUF is still insane specs
With the CPU
Along with the trackpad dying, everytime it went to sleep (even on shutdown tbh) it went through this long BS automatic repair which served no purpose because i’d boot to windows anyway and it never found an error, image found off reddit https://preview.redd.it/g14-2024-automatic-repair-when-booting-v0-11e8u0ldxvpe1.jpeg?auto=webp&s=5598623aff0dc82a21daad22128c3f68fde27453
I sent it in for a warranty repair explicitly saying that the trackpad is dead and the GPU fan is faulty, they fixed my trackpad (thank god) and replaced my CPU fan
Two cables come out of your fans if they're ARGB
Is everything working ok now?
I went through with that fan for another 2 years in school before selling it off
The first one is what powers the fan itself
Ahh I see
Second one is for the ARGB
What laptop you have now?
Nope gpu fan still broke and it still goes through the automatic repair, sold it for $580 USD
At the moment no laptop aside from my work laptop, I’m intending on getting the M5 MacBook Pro or Air depending on how badly I want the better screen and speakers
I mean yea MacBook is good
Could I call u or smth to show the commenters
Image
What model are your fans
just thermals are challenged, if you do heavy things may not be the best option
If you push it hard, but if you do basic things it’s good
That’s why I’m thinking about the Pro, that model has fans as well
It’s still bad thermals
Their thermals are fine as well for what im doing tbh I’m not doing anything crazy
It’s cool at idle, or light use
Came with the case
But if you use 100% cpu load it gets very hot
Staying at near 100 sustained from what I’ve seen
Yes I won’t be sustaining 100%
Is it this or the other 3 pin
this is argb
No I won’t be im chilling in cybersecurity
or cpu heavy workloads, a larger laptop is good
Ahh
Build quality is amazing on MacBooks
Indeed
I don’t see where it could go into my motherboard
Honestly the best of the best
the other end goes to the motherboard and if you have multiple daisychain them and connect one to the motherboard
or you might have a controller on the back
Or this ^
Tried fitting the 3 pin one that goes into it and it’s loose
What do you guys really think about AMDs 3D CPUs?
It’s going to be a little loose, there’s no click to it
anyone use them?
I’m on a 7800X3D, I’m pleased with it
Do I plug it into jrgb1?
Yes
How’s the thermals?
I heard these run hot
show it
I dunno im not a big thermals guy
when you are on full CPU load
it might be rgb and not argb
I am, cuz I’ve literally had so many issues with laptop thermals in the past
It’s cooled with a arctic freezer iii 360 pro
That’s because laptop thermals generally suck
Nah fr
yea thats the laptops fault
no not jrgb1
I lied sorry
whast the mobo model
I mean it does go to 95 Ryzen 7000 series if you fully push it
But AMD said its safe for the CPU
MSI B650 plus WiFi
its on the top right of the mobo
What’s it called the pin connector
I don’t fully push it idk
There’s one at the bottom called JARGB2
jrgb2 propably and its like the head you showed
I have no clue - I’ve never tried a 7800X
Yea
wait
what’s your GPU?
3070ti
Yea pretty decent
on the msi website the mobo picture is so low quality
I’ll show the connector I have aswell
send the pic of the second connector you found
@gaunt spade btw did you decide to get a laptop
yea it has to go into somehting just like that 1+2 pin and not 4 pin
you were talking about it here before
im searching
You found anything good?
I tried putting it into one and it don’t work before @gaunt spade
Tbh I just recommend legion Ngl
or ASUS TUF, those are the best options
why not
Thanks MSI
holy shit the websites even worse theres no closeup for all the connectors and it only shows rgb once and its the 5v one
Btw is this a good mobo, wondering if I build a pc sometime
There’s one at the bottom similar to the one u showed it’s called jargb_v2 could I use that @gaunt spade
high iq play
yea if its 1+2
Every single manufacturer needs to provide a high quality image guide to every connector it can’t be that difficult
Well when I boot it no rgb comes on
😭
son
show
the pins on the jargb2
even this is not enough but so much better
Lemme show u what I bought
msi is just so stupid that theydont even attach the right motherboard pictures so the jargb is somewhere else here
Well it’s turned on and there’s no rgb
pull it out and show the pins on the board
It’s a 3 pin
very weird
What's your case
yea thats correct
Yes, this
This should be required
Idek some like 50pound/ dollar case
yes
It’s probably the fans
Wait no not this
try the pins on the top right
That's the slaving connector
No nonsense, straight to the point, exact manual
I did nothing changed probably the fans
he corrected that
Bro I had a jump scare a second ago my gpu fans weren’t spinning lmfao returned it on and off it’s fine
Well fuck rgb I give up
try the connector on the top right
Heh good thinking
rgb gives fps
I have all my RGB fans unplugged anyway
RGB Gaming chairs do
I did no difference
-200 fps
No wonder I get 120fps in marathon
ive never seen argb not work on mobo
ive literally put it in while the pc was on and it worked fine
Faulty connector?
2 faulty connectors?
^^ I’ve done this multiple times with actual fan headers
same
Faulty wire?
@dawn zephyr try only one fan so no daisychains
I give I can’t be asked to take everything apart
Ffs
For some rainbow lights
I’ll do it tho
Welcome to the real world
As long as your pc turns on, all the fans work, and the case is fully on
You’re golden
Got them to work it was the daisy chain causing the problem
that's the argb pigtail for you to connect other fans or light strips argb to
this is the better one
No I did but I didn’t realise the daisy chain was causing the problem
only ever causes a problem if you have to many connected together tbh
how many is max
240 led's max per mobo header at best, which depends on how many per led strip or fan tbh
over that and they start dimming/don't light up
in which case you use a powered hub inline like a you'd do with fans
what if i get one fan with 240leds
very unlikely to see on a single fan but only that 1 fan's argb would work on it
and you'd need a powered hub instead to control more from that header
what if its 120 leds but like way brighter
I dont have RGB fans except for the aorus master which isnt in use
idk i had 4 but now they aint daisy chaineed and plugged them into there own ones it works
anyways u guys wanna see my first set up picture i took
then only 120 led's off the header unless you used a powered hub
I gotta replace 2 fans so they’re all thermalright - I’m just so lazy to open up my case and do it though
i have a T30 and 2 of the UBW thermalright fans and the aorus master fan sitting around
Also have a P14 but idek if its alive
$12.50sgd for a fan seem about right?
I have no clue about fan prices tbh
What is sgd
i paid like 90 something for a pack of 3 t30s
Spanish Galleon Dollars?
Goodness
Singaporean dollars
That makes more sense
best fans behind noctua and it was for a ITX build so I cared more about the noise profile
for my hs420 I just slapped like 6x P14 pros for sub 100 and called it a day
Tbh I don’t care much about noise profile, as long as it’s quiet enough I’m good
I have like 8 fans and idk if I wanna replace all of them
And I gotta fix my cpu fan that seems pretty important
Setsuna I wanna see you do a full custom loop itx
Well maybe just cpu, gpu a bit of a push
T30s are the best performing fan behind noctua for performance:sound ratio
t30 my beloved i had 3
I cant watercool both unless its in the 15L region which I dislike
I also find AIOs in SFF sub 10L stupid unless its for AM5 because LP cooler and AM5 kinda dont mix the best
Custom loop would be sick
I guess you’d just put the resovoir over the cpu.. not much room for disaster
theres people who’ve done it but I personally dont find it worth
I rather build/maintain/upgrade existing systems
If I can grab this 32GB DDR5 green stick set of ram and sell it to my friend I lose essentially no money
It’s kind of a bit sad that customer waterloops have become less of a thing now we got platform longevity that supports builds better
I also dont want to maintain a waterloop at all since my HS420 is already on the ground
I at most will only do AIO
My next build Ive also changed plans from a velka 3 to a S21x so instead of 3.99L volume its 3.2L volume
Where’d you get them from?
dynacore
Bet
dynacore has the cheapest parts generally afaik with exceptions going to other retailers if you use shopee
imagine having 500 usd
I wonder if this would be good for productivity
the learning required to use that would be a lot
hey any idea why my fans aren't detected in literally any rgb software whatsoever? it was working fine last month
Undoubtly
on top of that if i install an older version of signalrgb it detects them but the second it auto updates it just doesn't anymore
maybe they dropped support for them?
everything collectively??
how old are your fans?
my ram is also not recognized by newer versions of signalrgb btw
barely 2 years
hmm
tried openrgb?
i have no idea why, maybe check their update logs for some info ig
doesn't work either
i don't even have it installed i tried icue instead but that does nothing as well
at least it works with my ram but i'm shit outta luck on the fan front
if your fans have original software you could try that
arctic has no software
nevermind i guess they do
i hate this industry so fucking much
"works only with arctic rgb controller" i'm literally going to strangle somebody
Dad's card 🥹
its the same for aio's i just bought a sata to 3 pin rgb connecter and did the colours from there
great so now the thing that was working previously requires me to buy some bullshit
i'm this 🤏 fucking close to ripping all of these fans out and tossing them into the trash
they were working fine FOR ALMOST TWO FUCKING YEARS
I am literally never buying anything from arctic again
you can send a message directly to their QA engineer
hii, is this the right place to ask about powerbanks
Where
i wish i knew too lmao
Bruh
did u buy on credit
Yeah no fuck this I'm just switching my shit to corsair the leds on these fans are ass anyways
No + i bought these in 2024
Set them to orange they appear pink literally can't have shit
you're a consumer, with no protections?
Not after 2 years i don't
dangit then you have to upgrade yet again
And even then the place i bought it from will take me to take it up with arctic and they will do fucking nothing
Just like iiyama
the intern made the product. they'll fix it after you complain lol
So now i have 6 rgb fans that don't have rgb
i just use a single wifi LED 100W lightbulb
And a monitor with a "0 dead pixel guarantee" with a dead pixel and streaks of miscolored pixels on top of that
Doesn't work in my case
No space
Hmm I would just take the cover off at that point
No physical damage btw, it just did this
Mind you that's just how it's supposed to look not how it actually looks
This is just proof that budget options aren't worth it because they do not last
The poor man pays twice
i was sent at least 5 faulty monitors refurbished each cycle waiting a month each. now have to buy brand name
Same issue was with my rx7600, a month after i sold it the guy had to get it fixed
"Budget" products are an excuse to sell you actual dog shit
monitors are made to be consumed/replaced and break down a day after the manufacturer warranty expires lol
Yea that was still technically under warranty too but the seller never sent me the warranty document over email and there was no physical copy

my IPS monitors still survive after hour 5000 of viewing
Unironically my longest lasting monitor is my worst one
I overpaid a ton, it's genuinely awful but it's still working the same as day 1 5 years later
Also iiyama
And yet it outlasted the newer and better one
Now i have a temporary 1440p 180hz aoc while i hunt for a job so i can replace it with an oled
weird im only on 60hz 1080p
I'd use this monitor for longer but the ghosting is pmo
shitty VA panel?
And no amount of tweaking fixes it
Ips
IPS panel LG 23"
Odd, usually IPS isn't horrible for ghosting
not as good as OLED or Micro LED, but usually not too bad
This one is
its the power adapter that breaks
So is my overpriced shitty old iiyama
Both have ghosting issues that the one that broke didn't have
Soon i'll be upgrading from a 1440p 165hz IPS to a 4k 240hz QD-OLED
my dell ips got big ghosting
what the heck are you guys building with that
Especially visible when driving in 3rd person
I have a T1 with a 4080S, so plenty of horsepower to drive it
laptop stuck on 120hz 4K but I can only play high def games in 720p low
The one that broke only ghosted because of the gpu, this one ghosts because it was 125 dollars for a 1440p 180hz ips monitor
an amazing VA panel is better than an amazing IPS panel, but a mediocre IPS panel is miles better than a mediocre VA panel
who the hell buys va these days
It was always meant as a temporary replacement while i try and get money for an oled
not quite sure what about IPS makes them hard to do at size though
just need one 55" TV to watch educational tutorials about tech
maybe ppi?
OLED TVs are great
Idk our new tv isn't completely horrid esp considering it was only 270 usd
For a 50"
that backlight will break soon
Was hoping to upgrade my bedroom TV at some point
brightness 5%
Going from a 32" from the stone age is a major upgrade
I mean, it's the only other way to wire stuff isn't it?
(it was free)
va is terrible at any price bracket
i cant do sound, neighbors will know i am working too hard
above 45", it's probably VA, below 45", it can go either way
if contrast ratio is the telling factor of how "good" a screen is then i have no idea
refresh rate doesn't matter a whole lot for TVs anyways
I got it free. That was paid by the marketing internal business unit at LG in my name for a review unit
most content is 24 or 30fps anyways
a single 42" 4K tv to watch videos in 4K seems decent to me
Yaaaaaaaaaaas
Ok they're useless but for less than a dollar it can't hurt
hear me out, ips > oled, va, tn
no
some moving pictures did 12fps, no?
Mine was a 34" monitoring ultrawide 1440p 144hz
Older movies, yeah
Especially ones originally recorded on film
Then, in your opinion. Is it worth the 2 grand for your average gamer, playing a mix of competitive games and story rich singleplayer games?
I love my 165hz ips
ips is used in professional displays where oled doesnt fit
ips can be more accurate in some applications than oled
can be more vivid
IPS color profiles are decadent for photo viewing
Usually reference monitors are IPS
oled is overrated
It really isn't
still has problems
OLED is underrated by the general public, a bit overrated by the enthusiast market
And oled prices are slowly coming down
Give me a few days and ask again. 😛 it gets here Friday
QLED not mentioned yet
for the vast majority of gamers, if you swap their IPS monitor for an OLED monitor they'd be ecstatic
Technically all of our phone screens are oled
Bet, when do you receive it?
funny way of saying "completely different technology"
im talking contrast ratio and lumosity
Friday 😛
Instead of just filtering light, it actually changes the wavelength of light
Okay okay
transformative color mixing instead of subtractive
(no idea if transformative is the right term there)
i have never seen that word ever before in my life lmao
You live under a rock?
i clearly live under a rock
Evidently
patrick ahh
that's a turtle
Starfish?
the monitors attached to the 10k usd light board i use for work are 1080i VA monitors
no, waiting for the estate sales
thats about it
rendering at 🧍 540
Wonderful world of public education theater funding
no just more bug reports and feedback lol
a single lighting fixture costs like 100x what the monitors do
and they're relatively cheap fixtures
ive had a situation where i talked about colors with other people and they kept saying something looks different than me so i just began wanting monitors that have 100%+ srgb coverage and deltaE lower than 2 to always be right
hell even my mac now got a deltaE of 1 and lower
did they get what they wanted?
the fact so many monitors that people spend hundreds of dollars on can't even cover more than 80% of the sRGB colorspace is fucking insane
65% coverage is unacceptable
1000+ buck laptops having a 60% srgb screen
It's insane, because most people don't know enough to be concerned by the advertisement of it, but they will notice when their colors look like shit
i genuinely cant own a monitor that has less srgb than 95%
my work monitors are probably <30% of the sRGB colorspace
total pain for color mixing on stage
my office dell got like 105% and my main one is well beyond 100% because its 99% dci p3
and then my mac has 100% dci p3
bare minimum nowadays should be 80% on the cheapest monitors possible, anything worth any money should be 95%+
I care more about lighting than i do monitors, but they function rather similarly
thats why i pick ips over anything else
in the theatrical lighting world, we get >10bit color
i was gonna lock in on dell monitors but i didnt get an employee discount so i figured nevermind
dell ultrasharp is a crazy line
but then we also have to deal with <4bit subtractive colormixing
bro some older tn panels are literally 6bit with frc
i have worked with fixtures that claimed to have color control, but were actually just using 3 color filters
thats worst of all
so you have 3! color options
literally just CMY color filters, and they were boolean, so you you have a total of 7 colors
fucking sucks
limiting
i wish more displays used more than 3 colors for mixing
I've used lights with more than 6 types of color LEDs, i wish that was more common in displays
oh you mean an enhanced rgb layout
Yeah, like Red, Green, Indigo, Lime, Amber, White
that would be a little difficult to do
I'm cooked cause I learned colors in physics
working with UV lights has traumatized me
i have given myself temporary vision damage by looking at them on accident
reminds me of my long missed cat, i had two laser pointers
how could we enhance the rgb layout with additional filters
quantum dot layer above the RGB pixels
i mean what about quantum dots in the liquid crystals themselves
Not sure that's entirely possible or feasible
fact: ultrabudget phones have an amoled display (e.g. smasnug j1 2016 for 6 bucks and 5.8 euros)
sup nerds
not at all, most ones, cuz of few budget phones have a IPS display
well yeah just most
and very old iphones have a ips display too
some very old OLED phones lacks of dark mode or dark theme is default (Android 9 Pie and earlier)
without a custom ROM
Found a steam link at work
I'll probably grab it to be able to stream from my pc to our tv
maaan my one broke
ur working in a thrift store right?
I've got that rotting in a drawer somewhere. Limited to 1080p60 output
I did play my first playthrough of Witcher 3 in my living room using that way back in like 2017/18
Recycling center
Eh tbf our tv is 1080p60 aswell so it should be fine
can someone help me fix the problem im having i can't reset my pc or install wndows i gotta download ISO or something like that im so lost
won't matter
better
someone else has my cpu
Ofc just funny
this would be a good combo right? I wanna go drive to microcenter a few hours away and get this bundle (and maybe case)
$750 honestly i like it
case obviously seems like it's something for taste that you're willing to pay more for
i currently have a 11900k and 32gb of ddr4 3600, so this would be a couple generation upgrade (dont neeeeeed it, but my pc is 4 years old so i was gonna upgrade it next year anyways)
i'd say go for it yeah
for the bundle i mean*
case looks like a lols
did yall see the news
lebron made a dunk?
I like the case but not the price
American motherboard bundles are good. Sucks UK don’t do it well
Hmmm this is interesting
My laptop chip literally draws 102w in cinebench while the 7800X3D is around 80
What’s your laptop
9800X3D is higher but quite low for a desktop
8940HX
Yeah AMD power draw is higher on laptops believe it or not
Oh the case would be absolutely unreasonable
That would definitely be a “I want a disk drive and a unique case”
Also idles about 5w higher on the higher end chips iirc
Mine idles low 20s watts
While Intel 5-10w
Yep. That’s a thing.
I’ve seen laptops running 200w
People in here will tell you how much they love their Intel laptops
And tbh Intel is bettererer by far for many laptop situations
Classic Intel, it’s astronomical
CPU is cooking on Intel laptops with these very high wattages
I’ve always found it a bit confusing but I’m sure there is good reason why the company that makes the console APUs can’t make great laptop processors
I’ve never seen anything like this on a laptop
This is more than a good amount of desktops literally, on just a gaming laptop
this can’t be healthy for the chip running at 105 under this full load, if it’s done frequently. AMD targets 95 in their 7000 series in higher end models which pull more wattages
there's one known as star mains here, were there's a junction box in the ceiling and the sockets are wired up to it, similar setup done for lights as well, which results in 1 mcd/rcd per room essentially
7000 x3d are 89. The non x3d are 95. Iirc all 9000 are 95
Yea these are how it is for the 7950X
But Intel lets these laptop chips at 105c at 200w, that’s too high
200w in a laptop WAT IN THE FEK
what kinda laptop do you have
But still intels thermal circuit works well, I’ve seen multiple reviewers mentioned these laptops like MSI titan or HP omen max 16 crash under full load
It’s not mine, from a review
My laptop only draws a measly 102w under cinebench
and only 85c
mine cant do much more than 28
this can mean more wire used in doing so, but it also means less likely to drill into or nail into said wires when putting plasterboard on the walls
105w peak 💪
Nah it was 128
Maximum was 127.822w, it shows.
But the thermals seem lower, that’s cuz ASUS has limited the power
Oh yeah that’s neat
they allowed older model with 7940HX basically same as my 8940HX to run at 135w
which is good, since that one in Cinebench ran 95 at around 130w, mine is 86 as you can see.
but I think it’s good ASUS did this, you don’t need that much
It’s too much for this
tbh the 7940hx is no different from a 7840hx as well as a 8840hx
95c 24/7/365**
also I’ve always noticed this CPU seems to be paired with lower end GPUs at times
you can see, always ROG Strix has a high end CPU, but the GPUs vary
Cheap
Yea price is quite nice for this powerful of a cpu
Perfect for guys who care about CPU performance mainly
RTX 5050 for a laptop is ok, but like it’s for ppl who want to play games like on the side. And who are not super serious
8940hx isn't the high end one btw
It’s still powerful
Not the highest end but still good multi core, single is decent
The highest end is 9955HX3D
It’s still high end, it does get 32k in cinebench R23
cinebench scores don't really mean anything
I mean it does show how powerful
it's no different from a 8945hs, just with a higher power draw, the perfomance is the same otherwise
still doesn't really mean anything
depends on your use case you should be looking for those individual benchmarks
cinebench is literally just a 3d rendering benchmark
you don't do 3d rendering on cpu
which laptop?
it'll only ever do that when the battery is dead or powered off
with a thermal pad mod
499 with student discount
i just farted
much rather just get intel panther lake
snapdragon is poop
at the cost of shit software support
intel panther lake can do 20+ hours
lunar lake and ptl can do the same anyways
pretty sure even lunar lake can do that
hard pass
i'm not gay
Thanks for letting us know.
I have an AMD 8840HS based laptop that I got for $650
yeah but you didn't get a 7840U OLED laptop for 270€ iirc
nvm 300€
acer swift 14
No!
So, we're back to this being real now?
Nooo!!! 😭
wat
looking forward to phoronix benchmarks of this tbh
considering that a lot of dev workloads that phoronix tests actually benefit from X3D based on their reviews of 9950X3D, could be interesting bumps in some test results
7840u my beloved
you are a gay
I just took my PC out for a dusting.
not me
Quite proud of how clean it looks now.
why do i always get a fight with ubuntu's terminal literally when i return to ubuntu after weeks of using windows
My motherboard supports 11th gen.
what
But this is the CPU I actually have.
insane info
