I don't think the CPU bottlenecks it as it's a Ryzen 7 5800XT. But the motherboard, as far as I understand, bottlenecks it because it's NVME 2. The speed difference between that and the enclosure (USB 3.2 but connected to USB 3.1 on the motherboard) didn't seem too big, but maybe the overhead from USB isn't reflected in that.

1st is what i currently own, and the battery life is about 2-3 hrs and i have to charge it from 10% to 100% at least 3 times a day. performance is a problem last project took an insane amount of time as i found my self sitting at 100% load waiting for things to complete for 2-5 minutes at a time.
i have hit "memory pressure2" and it was yellow with .5GB remaining. but thats only one program (video editing). though i regularly run out of cores.
-config 2 is what i think i need to solve the core issue. i WANT a 14, but with this chip they overheat and throttle to 30% below spec to matin 99C.
-config 3 is more ram to make sure i don't have a repeat of the other night were what should have taken max of 3 hrs took 9hrs ....
does this make sense? or is the 14C with more ram better?

I have a 5070ti, 1tb NVME (Current C Drive), a network card forn my nas in my PCIE slot, and now an extra 4tb nvme. My CPU is a i5 13600k with 20 pcie lanes, will this be a bottleneck?

I am considering just switching my 1tb nvme for the 4tb and making that my C Drive
