Yeah I've said it a million times but I'm not selling this card. As nice as it would be to use it fund the next card whenever I upgrade sometime I am keeping this whether I use it or not. Nope it's from Watercool's Heatkiller line of GPU blocks. Though the 3090 FTW3 blocks from them seem to be on the more difficult side to find on the used market (even the active backplate is unobtainium status)

Okay I haven't done custom watercooling before so I wasn't sure if that was from EVGA or not. Yeah I remember seeing them selling them just after and before they announced they were done making graphics cards. I'm sure most people are keeping those. People who custom watercool tend to both be people who really enjoy tech (and might have a love for EVGA) and also people who might not need the money so they'd rather keep it. I also have a 3090 FTW 3 Ultra box from when I ordered an open box 3090 from Amazon just for the hell of it before I got the 3090ti (I knew the risks going in), inside was a 1660 super graphics card and I got a refund from amazon and got to keep the box/card (gave the card to a relative, kept the 3090 box). I also did have a real 3090 FTW 3 Ultra that I bought before the 3090ti but I sold that to someone my dad is friends with who has been into PCs for decades because by that point I decided I was just going to find a 3090ti since I wanted the last/best card EVGA released.

p17 and mx7 are my most recommended

arctic mx-# - great thermals (95%), little bit difficult to spread manually, i replace this every year or two
noctua nt-h# - good thermals (90%), easy to spread manually (meaning its good for direct-die stuff like laptops/gpus), i have never seen noctua thermal paste dry up so id say replace every like 2-3 yrs
aio stock - decent thermals (varies a lot but probably 80-85%), spreadability varies, longevity varies
oem random brand shit - can be very bad, can be very good. usually sold in giant tub

You know. I still can't believe how much better PTM7950 is than thermal paste. After 'cooking' it by going through some heat cycles I get consistently lower thermals, better scores, etc. I just wanted to try it back when I first bought it just after LTT started selling it, now it's literally the only thing I use on any device I can put it on. Great shit.

Biggest mistake LTT made in their video that they showed it off in before they started selling it was that they didn't 'cook' it before testing.

Liquid metal should be better (thermally) if applied correctly, but it also has its downsides. Obviously there is the 'damaging your device' problem if something goes wrong, along with the clean up being a bitch, but it also has downsides compared to PTM in longevity. That shit does dry out, that's honestly one of the other things I love about PTM other than the performance, you can put it in a device and literally never change it until the device is dead. It's very set it and forget it. It's almost too good to be true, but I'm glad it isn't. I will never go back to thermal paste.
