thats the problem. "4K" was born from the film/broadcast industry for televisions. Its assuming 16:9 3840x2160. When you move to the monitor space, that falls apart. old 3840x1600 21:9 displays are the same amount of pixels wide, but using 4K assumes 3840x2160, which it is not.

The whole system of "xK" names should be ignored when talking about computers and monitors. Its useless and just causes confusion.
