there are people on about "connect it to the internet and u hacked"

NAT is not firewall

wut

spring latch

I said CGNAT

frigid blade

theres a reason WebRTC works

spring latch

you share an IP with multiple people

frigid blade
spring latch
tidal geyser
#

if you have access to the internet you can be hacked the same way as any other

spring latch
#

that being said, I'm not saying I cant download malware and get hacked

tidal geyser
#

the main issue with older versions of anything is the domains it tries to download from can expire or have holes in them allowing people to use em for automatically downloading malware.

spring latch

unless you manually figure out how to hijack windows update (or you download malware that does that)

spring latch

the carriers automated systems HAVE to handle it otherwise if you go to google.com it will just go to someone else

#

your carrier has to actually decide where it needs to go back too when recieving data

haughty compass

OK so I installed ventoy and I'm confused. What does this do

tired bear

you are way off in terms of how internet works

haughty compass

Oo ok

sleek remnant

anyway

spring latch
#

CGNAT makes direct connections impossible by design

tired bear
frigid blade
#

no hes right, you cant just make an inbound connection to a device behind CGNAT

spring latch
#

multiple customers get a public IP, and you get a private IP thats shared and non routable on the internet

#

the carriers CGNAT box is the only thing that can see inbound traffic

frigid blade
#

An outbound connection needs to establish first for the device not behind CGNAT to know which internal device the packets get routed to

tired bear
spring latch
frigid blade

Carrier-grade NAT (CGN or CGNAT), also known as large-scale NAT (LSN), is a type of network address translation (NAT) used by Internet service providers (ISPs) in IPv4 network design. With CGNAT, end sites, in particular residential networks, are configured with private network addresses that are translated to public IPv4 addresses by middlebox ...

frigid blade

frigid blade

All of my IoT devices were behind regular NAT with port forwarding of course theyre accessible

spring latch

lets pretend I still had southslope (no router)
If I managed to get online through THAT, I would probably have attacks flying at me

with a CGNAT or even just a router, you would need to turn on uPnP and/or configure port forwarding for that to be an issue, and you cant uPnP nor port forward on a CGNAT

how do u unzip a file on arch

#

none of the commands online work

#

i tried to install an app but i need to unzip it to open it

echo minnow
#

To unzip a file on Arch Linux, use unzip. For example:

unzip filename.zip
haughty compass

unzip is not a found command

arctic kettle

sudo pacman -Syu

#

Idk why it wouldn't work.

See if an update fixes.

haughty compass
echo minnow

zip is native

#

It comes with the operating system

haughty compass
#

It says unzip "command not found"

arctic kettle
echo minnow

sudo pacman -S unzip

arctic kettle

Wouldn't it already be installed.

echo minnow
