Iiiiit would actually help more for devs to optimize or at least rework their games for lower hardware requirements instead, since with how things were going with the expected "standard" being 12 gigs at the least for graphics, this meant that eventually no game would be accessible at a reasonable performance for anyone mid-end and below anyway.
The larger devs and publishers would just keep pushing up the requirements and refusing to have their teams optimize enough to make it so people with cheaper hardware could keep up.
