I just randomly remembered you advocated for this, @ocean axle, where you wished there was a system than ran on RISC-V, even if it was a console or such.
My question is, with the current updates to the instruction set, would you even consider it possible to do a proper console with what's out there? I'm asking this in the sense of... The difficulty level for engine devs to try and mess with it, especially the independents in particular.

Probably because it's do with hardware features not present in past gpus.
And if not, they're just focusing on their current stuff instead to save on time, resources, and cost. It's typical really.

I think it's fair enough for them to branch them and not provide new Vulkan/etc extensions, particularly if they don't map to the hardware perfectly.
Though they do still need to do driver optimizations for game releases.
