so uhh yeah really using it

plain cypress

I've been tempted to buy a gen 5 SSD at various points this year

But I have 6 tb of nvme already

Are there legit Samsung galaxy S26 ultra specs that we know? Primarily the CPU.

Must test with proper Cyberpunk 2077

#

Btw both Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are rubbish, first that you can't RT without FSR, or use no RT if you don't upscale, and RDR2 for the AA

From what to what?

Ah nvm so you get another PCIe slot

You would benefit more from the CPU upgrade you mentioned than from 2 GPUs

steel umbra

i don’t see the benchmarks

yeah no thanks.

#

lemme find how much does it actually make a difference

#

i doubt it’s almost twice as fast

rigid fjord
plucky lodge
steel umbra
#

yeah, no not almost twice as fast, realistically up to +50% from the crystal disk mark tests and average is like +15%

steel umbra
#

i can’t really find any real world test where it improves speeds by more than 50%

tidal geyser
steel umbra
#

in some scenarios it hurts performance

tidal geyser
#

in actually doing stuff day to day

steel umbra
#

like -13% and -12% in certain tasks isn’t “almost twice as fast”

tidal geyser
#

trust me bro

steel umbra
#

also pretty sure windows can saturate slc cache of higher end ssds

#

like if a controller does 5gb/s and windows can do 5gb/s i don’t see where that trick would improve things significantly in all areas especially

#

so yeah up to +50% random 4k, not almost twice as fast

well rtss is a quick way of showing the stuff, but actual benchamrking tools, there's the likes of occt, 3d mark, cinebench, there's also benchmate

Are you on 1080p and using the stock cooler?

tidal geyser
#

is that a caching SSD in a datacenter or something

rigid fjord
tacit star
#

Usually 5800X is the one that runs hotter

#

Isn't 5800X the hottest AM4 chip?

spark path
# rigid fjord when it comes to rtss for me

I am using hwinfo inside of rtss but it doesn't seem to be accurate, also my system doesn't feel stable at all, like I get random fps drops when I first launch a game or do a new thing in the game but then it's gone ryzen 7700 rx 9070 xt

calm plaza
#

lol

rigid fjord
tacit star
#

But still, doesn't 5800X take the second place?

rigid fjord
tacit star

Now on 1080p your CPU is working harder, and this game is CPU intensive as well

rigid fjord
tacit star
rigid fjord
rigid fjord

Is 5900X poorly engineered like 5800X?

rigid fjord

cpu at 26%
gpu at 100%

rigid fjord
calm plaza

the 5700x is barely 1-2% better than the 5600x but its 1% lows are proportionally better and its night and day in terms of retaining frames during background processes like streaming or video editing

Yo guys, I'm having a problem that keeps annoying me.

So basically my PC keeps waking whenever I put it to sleep but apparantely it shuts down without ever having being woken and I've tried reinstalling the GPU drivers but that doesnt seem to help. I notice no other problems aside from the computer seemingly refusing to stay in sleep mode.
Theres also no problems occuring whenever I play demanding games so I have no idea whats going on

craggy cove

yknow i never thought about why my ethernet port was like this

craggy cove

i thought it was to prevent the clip breaking but i think its just bent the wrong way now

steel umbra
#

or one 8tb

#

higher capacities haven’t increased in price as much as 1-2tb

#

or 500gb

#

modern nvmes are plenty fast to handle the os and games at the same time

#

no need for two

calm plaza
# steel umbra or one 8tb

a low compacity 250-500g m.2 to retain os boot and internet transfer benefits but you could save money by getting a high-end sata which tend to have comparable loading times in games

that was my thought process

worthy pumice
steel umbra
#

unless you already have one filled with stuff and want to upgrade

steel umbra
#

it’s more of a waste of money

#

250-500g ssds tend to be poor value

#

the benefit of two nvmes are minimal to nonexistent

#

if it were two hdds or two slow sata ssds then sure

#

but nowadays gen 3/4 nvmes are cheaper than sata

#

and plenty fast to handle the os and games

or files transfers

Take a credit card or something similar and run it through the gaps between pins if it catches then you likely have a bent pin

Okay, this is going to be somewhat long but gonna go into all details.

SPECS:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B660 Gaming X

CPU: i5-12400f

PSU: Corsair rm750x

RAM: 2x8GB Teamforce DDR4 3200Mhz

GPU(Old): Gigabyte 1660ti

GPU(New): ASUS RTX 5060 OC 8GB

WHATS HAPPENED

Treated myself to a new GPU for Christmas and went to install it tonight. I’d like to say I know my way around a PC and what to do.

Booted up the PC normally, ran DDU and then removed the old GPU. I installed the new 5060 using the 6+2PCIE cable, (cable had to be turned upside down to work) and then turned on my PC to fans and RGB coming on but no display. Checked and monitors are plugged into the GPU. The motherboard VGA debug light was on. Fiddled around and tried it a couple more times to no avail.

Eventually replaced the 5060 with my 1660ti and the system booted as normal. So my first guess is an issue with my PSU/PCIE cables which shouldn’t be the case.

Messed around some more and decided to try reseating my RAM. Did so and now the PC would turn on with no RGB lights and the CPU/VRAM motherboard debug lights are flashing. I’d handled the sticks with care so this was a surprise. No matter what I tried doing I couldn’t seem to fix the issue until I put STICK1 in RAM slot A2. If I put STICK2 or STICK1 any other place the debug lights would come on and no RGB. Very odd. This happened both with the 1660ti and 5060 installed.

Now I’m stuck, I can’t even play games now on just the 1660ti as I can’t boot unless using the specific stick for 8GB of ram. Really was excited to use my brand new 5060 today as it’s something I’ve been saving for a while. Would love some assistance as to how to proceed..

Since they're best placed in the drop ceiling which usually doesn't have outlets in it

But you'll have junctions with a unswitched hot, neutral, and ground at minimum like every 15 ft (also has the switched hot for the lights)

ram will likely get cheap again after the AI bubble pops when lots of factories are spewing out ram with nowhere for it to go. Especially if new factories have been built to supply a demand that falls out of the market.

twin grove
thin bloom
tidal geyser
#

the reason its so spensive is that the current ram factories have changed to HBM and das not easy to use for consumers

narrow coyote

I do wonder if all the push for massive amounts of HBM ram for AI will lower it's production costs and eventually it will take over from DDR for system ram.

tidal geyser

we all should just go together and build our own ram factory

can’t be that hard, right..?

spark path
tidal ice
thin bloom

Another thing that could happen.
A totally different type of ram (something made in factories that cannot make HBM due to totally different technology) could suddenly become cost effective to use as system ram and we could transition from DDR to that.

twin grove
# somber zealot can’t be that hard, right..?

We would need a lithography machine capible of making ddr5 chips which will be about $300M then after that making the chip package or the resin casing and stuff for it which will be a few more million plus actual factory and clean room so probably $500m-$600m ish I'd think
