02;30am customer support what the fuck
The reason behind the shortage in the first place wasnt pc builders it was AI
when forced to choose between the datacenter and the average consumer, they will pick the datacenter in a heartbeat
do you think they'd care if ram prices are suddenly 100% more? they'll just buy it and pass along the cost to end consumer
i can tell you right now that ain’t cl26
problem is, alot of the ram producing fabs are being taken over for VRAM productiuon
and there isn’t a single thing we can even hope to do
Idk how much the latency stock 5200 vengance has
Here comes the return of DDR3!
nope, unless this AI bs crashes
finally my investment in ddr3 pays off!
It's two part: AI and because memory manufacturers got burned back during and after the lockdowns subsided.
Even aliexpress specials arent even cheap anymore
you know it’s bad when aliexpress ain’t cheap anymore
abit annoyed though since I really want to upgrade to 64GB
Don't lose hope someone Will eventually fill the demand
So the AI demand is crazy and memory manufacturers are restricting their supply.
i got an aliexpress special 2x16 ddr4 ecc 3200@CL16(?) for like 40$ in january
not in this scenario
time to upgrade to 1tb in my nas
This is only cheap BECAUSE of cyber monday
all we can hope is that it crashes and faceplants like it did back in 2023 when ddr4 prices went for peanuts
This is the exact scenario if anyone wants to supply the market they can make a ton of money 💰
And people are willing to pay for it
At least gpu prices are somewhat ok..for now
i await the moment i can upgrade to 1tb of ddr5
I think it's going to be complicate, since Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron are wary of that specifically happening again them. It's why they're doing what they're doing right now while the frenzy is on-going.
creating fabs takes a very very very very long time
especially for memory
Yep.
by the time they create one, who knows if the demand is still there
& even if they did make more fabs they're worried if the ai bubble will pop and then noone will want the ram anymore
like a decade or more just to get to the point you can actually produce stuff
hey we'll take it for pennies on the dollar 🙏
B A S S
It's why I even found it interesting a startup like Substrate showed up with their bold promises.
be like me, and don't upgrade for years and spend all your money on keyboards as god intended
when the AI bubble pops we’re kind of fucked
it's the way god intended
it’s gonna tank the global economy
Technically speaking, i currently have 2000 cad worth of ddr4
100%
You need totally new infrastructure to switch over from EUV to X-ray semiconductor manufacturing, and that one's in it's infancy too with very few even backing it.
Yknow this might make a weird predicment
Game devs might have to start optimizing their games now
might
1999 dot.com bubble all over again
they don’t, but they use the same ram dies
For now
speaking of substrate, whatever happened to intel's organic substrate plan
Have you guys heard about this cloud gaming
But lowk game devs might start to optimize their games cuz ram is tight now
hello. question is msi a good monitor brand
it doesn’t take all that long to physically build a ram FAB, it takes a long time to install all the hardware and set it up, then run months worth of tests
Internet goes down it goes bye bye
At this current time, we need to really just... Stop focusing on only the triple As at this point.
Their dev teams are being made to do the unreasonable and now things are starting to crash in those sectors. It's not gonna be pretty.
yeah because noone is leaving the expensive ass machines for people to take
msi is best, msi is good, get msi yes
I meant that for everyone
mmm yes invest in msi
Yeah but you don't need to worry about ram and without internet you can't play with friends anyways
msi best, msi good
you should get msi
Did you also know about Stadia and Luna?
...yknow theres some who dont play with friends-
No what are they tell me
And also lets see:
- Waiting queues
- Limited playtime
- Internet latency and compression
- ANOTHER subscription I have to subscribe to
that apple watch a msi product also?
if you squint hard enough, anything is msi product
also one of these
Zotac does
But you don't need a thousand dollar PC
Something funny I've noticed is that FSR sometimes decreases performance lol
if you have a hammer anythings low profile
Wdym lan party?
wait good question
just get 240hz 1440p
Local multiplayer????
And also they might not have games I want to play
Uuuuhhh depends on who you look at.
Double A tends to be doable or just rehashes what they had before (though we got some great bangers because of it, like PacMan World 2 RePac, Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, and so on) and they typically have crazy requirements unlike triple A.
Indy varies... Heavily and most of the best indie or most feature rich indie games do not typically have high requirements whatsoever. Some of them even run pretty well on low end and older hardware configs.
I dont play the latest AAA games or I wanna play some games that are old
The Gate of Smooth Gaming: In competitive gaming, every frame matters. Introducing Acer's XV272U gaming monitor - the WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor that can keep up with your game play. Through AMD FreeSync Premium Technology, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics card, not...
No no you link your steam or epic games account and boom the only limitation is your internet speed
...Yeah and theres games that are delisted that i cant play
i have a 240hz (idk maybe 1440)
And I still have to pay them to play the games I bought
sounds like cope to me
Also thanks to Valve, the spec targets for the bare minimum could even stand to be lower while still delivering a far better gameplay experience, due to them picking only reasonable requirements and encouraging devs to optimize their games around it.
Well maybe you are unlucky
i want a 3rd monitor :3
I got bored of 5 monitors
i even want to get rid of my 3rd one
just keep 2
Cloud gaming not my thing
dw leme hold it for you
And even if there is the games on my library the devs dont license them to be used on the cloud gaming system
Idk but for me it might be
I Got a 240hz 5120x1440p
Some of them do some of them dont
good for you then
Haven't heard about that but I think it's a them problem not a you problem
tiny 11 or some linux
Could gaming works good on consoles
Thats it tho
Thats the issue, i wanna play whatever i want when i want
How?
Nuh uh
I can't use ultra wide
How as in what
im thinking about honestly getting rid of one of them so it would be a replacement kinda
30 dollars a month
but i do want a 3rd in the same sense so i might not
The purpose is to play games on low end devices where do consoles come from
tbf, as long as your main monitor is decent it should be okay
what you should spend youjr money on is keyboard
Now that's a you problem my friend
^yall i need to decide for my new ssd
?????? how is that a me problem
can't buy ram when you've got no money for ram anyways, just buy keyboards innit
bruh
i have a logitech gaming keyboard
I think if we wait and it becomes popular sure you might get the games you wanna play
Well here's the thing...
Once they're gone, they're gone for good.
That's what happened to both Stadia and Luna.
Also Onlive too, even if they weren't really streaming, but more of an online distribution store pretty much.
Too bad i dont like that. I have it, I wanna play it.
I mean it its prefect on consoles but not on pc
I have a logitech keyboard too
Seeing the ram prices these days that's nothing
360 a year and internet factors and service factors..
The 64gb ram i have doesn't look stupid anymore 🔥
specially if you live in an area with cappee internet plans
Nobody is paying every month
Thats going to be a massive issue.
If you have a PC you still need internet
Bro said 30 a month
Depends on the games in question, as various ones are probably gone by now and there's no way to get them back. That's why game preservation is a movement now because it's happened for so long that we're literally missing out on content that is long lost or starting to disappear with no way to get it.
Gamepass is buns
this is my current setup and my 2nd monitor Has no stand so its leaning on the wall (it was free) @boreal vine
get an arm
Use one of those key websites to get it for 10$
i was looking to buy one also since black friday
Like I wanna play my GRID 2, Shift 2 Unleashed and Metro and delisted Forza games
mighta s well
Even more, there is also stuff restricted by DRM or other built in limitations intentionally put into games. One of the worst offenders right now are the connected or "always online" stuff, even stuff that are online hosted only.
If you have a console why the hell would you need online gaming subscription?
To have games?
Some people might have capped internet plans
Once their services are gone, it takes a herculean effort to get them back, especially if the devs move on or disappear entirely.
this IOT project i am doing at uni is making me want to not touch a piece of tech ever again
Streaming it is gonna chew through those
you got any recommendations?
... Like what happened to Drive Club...
Rip.
Just dont download a tb of games
And we are right back to square one
That's the people's problem
Cloud gaming is good cause 800gb of storage aint shit nowadays
Yeah no thanks, I rather have control of what I get to play, even if I have a crap system
Guys i have a question, is it worth to get a 4090 or 3090(5090 is excluded since it’s basically like a 4090)
Key parts of that game basically was built around being online.
It was great too, but once Sony broke their promise and got rid of the devs (who were major veteran names in the industry btw with incredible project reputations), the services went down and came at the expense of us players.
And with how locked down stuff is with PSN-based services, it's going to be a while before anyone can get around that problem later on, just like with all the old online games from years ago.

even finland??
What are you willing to spend
no im not spending i just want to know whats a better choice on what circumstances
They took down motorstorm with it
Size
Not with current majority of internet services across the globe.
Not everyone has better than even 35 mbps of connection with actually good latency, and that's most people in the world.
Power usage and the 12vhpwr connector
What do you mean?
Most 4090 cards are gigantic compared to 3090 cards
Plus, cloud has extra stupidity included in the package that varies from provider to provider. You're picking your poison and the most recurring one is if they take something down you pretty much payed them for, you lose it completely.
Just like with any other cloud service.
Im talking about psplus cloud
They announce when the games are leaving
Same thing
How tf am i suppose to play sai games they dont have anymore then
Oh wait, ya buy em
I mean yeah you can do that technically
not play said game is not a valid argument btw
That good you know what you want
Jumping ship to another subscription that has the games you want is not a really good argument either
We were personally taking people who do have a good connection but you have a valid point
In a perfect world if corporate arent so terrible and everyone has a good connection then yes, its a viable alternative
FF VII Remake got taken off the platform?
Too bad, you can't even add it back.
CS2 was removed because of the legal dramas between all platform holders and Valve for whatever reason?
Tough luck! Go waste more of the money you may not have on a Steam Machine then.
Most of the latest CoD games are no longer in library of the streaming service?
Cry about it~! We're not adding it back if we don't want to.
Wanna try and side load a game just because we don't have it and you're paying a subscription to be on here?
Aaahhh what subscription? There is no side loading in Ba Sing Se. (Now get the hell off our platform, you pirating idiot.)
But your forgetting 3rd world countries or rural areas
My point basically is that also doing cloud gaming also includes giving up freedoms for it.
They promise you the ability to get whatever they have that you want, but they can also just take it from you and you can't damn thing about it, for any given reason and even make excuses or just give you radio silence over it.
I seen a 3070 2 times bigger than my 4090
You want to make cloud gaming good for the masses? Fix the infrastructure and corporate first.
it was insane how big it was
Also, if their entire service upends completely, you lose... Everything you just bought too.
Then there is no profit
and that is with not that great pressure, heatsinks have much more pressure on the IHS
This won't ever happen for microsoft or sony cloud gaming is just a bonus for their subscriptions
Tbh, its not as hard as people think to do it. I can definitely get a proof of concept working from home
All of the companies operate in their best interest that is maximum profit.
Ive already created the backend for creating Hyper-V VMs, with the GPU paravritualization. All thats left is the front end to talk to it and get a stream
Yes it does for some people
You dont need enterprise software
Yeah but does corpo gonna fix it...ehhhh. and when i meant infrastructure, i also meant the local internet connection too cuz not everyone has perfect 100mbps+ internet. Specially if you live in southeast asia or rural places
Not for everyone.
you dont need over 100Mbps for it
you dont even need 50
Cuz I tried a few back when I was living in vietnam
Yeah definitely it's not for everyone but it is viable for someone
for a playable 1080p60 fps i think the bandwidth is like 20Mbps
Okay, but Stadia was a biiiig thing when Google started it and Luna was literally Amazon's attempt to brute force their way into the market purely with money, infrastructure, and software support that they had in abundance compared to both.
Both lost in the end and even Stadia technically had a chance to survive, but ended up instead because canned by Alphabet in the end, angering everyone from devs, to customers, even to middle management. Luna meanwhile died in silence.
Also, let's not forget Nintendon't tried doing it too in some capacity and that went about as well as anyone would've predicted.
Wish it was perfect 1080p60 throughout when i was living in vietnam playing on xbox cloud
And geforce now
I forgot the switch had games that were cloud only 🥀
geforce now was pretty bad
Still is
Its technically playable but my expeience was never smooth
it was never good to begin with
I wish microsoft didnt break the GPU-PV, even if you set the percentage as 50% it will allocate all resources
Cuz holy video compression and weird latency
Now it's like... Eh, it's for a very specific userbase that's even more niche than the standard pc owners.
I play racing games, and streaming it feels like Im driving drunk
it was enough for what i used it for, which was being able to game on school pcs from the browser
Latency.
Ok oh are you on wifi or Ethernet
Dosent steer and respond when i expect it to
Tried on both
And
It felt odd. I play racing games a lot and I def felt odd.
which is something that they can fix, considering I could stream my home pc from 110 miles away and get unnoticable latency
they just choose not to
Thats the problem
They can fix it, they just dont..
Feels pointless now to offer so much performance that feels like trying to allocate resources as a game server owner, trying to get good service from one of the major players in that space with no guarantees that you even will anyway regardless of what you paid and still have your playerbase malding about the poor experience.
were you on the free option?
Free GeForce now 💔
Yeah and tried the free trial too on xbox
is there no free tier anymore?
With cloud gaming, really the expectation still and presumably will continue to be something you should expect the worst experience from compared to actually owning your own hardware and being able to kit yourself out well.
I think its still there its just ass
Something weird or bad about this in a new pc for gaming?
i feel like the price of the CPU is a lot compared to GPU
Damn, that's one low bar for a workaround.
Though I guess it works.
Can we talk about something else
is it worth using the 2nd pcie 4.0 slot to put an SSD on it
it did it again, these squares
5060ti is just that cheap ig
sure
i had Chrome RDP to my PC but its worse, and we couldnt install apps like Moonlight to stream normally,
eventually I set up my own cubby area in the corner of the class with fresh windows install without anything locked up and used Sunshine with Moonlight
i'd have gotten a 9060xt instead tbh
can't upgrade to am5 due to ram prices so
theft
I've noticed this recently.
Though for me, it only does it whenever I join a Discord stream. Really strange behavior out of the client...
btw will they ever drop lmao
what pcie card
Not for awhile
Isnt that worse and only a few bucks cheaper?
should I know anything about comparability
at some point, but don’t hold your breath
I have a b450 MSI gaming plus max or something
7 5800x
The 2nd slot is 4.0
Greatful for my ram 🥹
I was thinking about this too
you can use a pcie card
greatful for my ram
but only PCIe 2.0 x4
Holy gpu bottlenecks batman
won't it be slow
Nuh uh
I locked in, like average 31 questions each, 160 questions in 2 hours
Did you check the manual?
Wow. 512 gigs I see.
Mhm
2GB/s
That gtx be screaming while the cpu be sleeping. No hate, but damn
that's fair ig
Sell some of it for for inf money 🥺
Personally, I'm fine for now.
SSD prices probably gonna go high soon too right
Do I sell or do I not sell
Thats normal, and expected. I sense a (common) misunderstanding of bottlenecks and where they're a problem.
I did want to get 48 gigs later though post upgrade, buuut it'll depend I guess.
@wheat torrent
@rose stream im buying a 14600k today :D
O k a y
im aware, just funny seeing a very high end stuff and then gtx 1650
Not a huge upgrade, but still a pretty big upgrade from my 13500
I was able to use all of it before
Especially since i have a z790
thats the same guy who had a broken 4090 and was trying to RMA and couldnt figure it out
@winter lantern What gpu do you have?
1650 super
Mhm
You do not have your priorities
I just gave away an rx 6500 xt 8gb to a friend for free where i couldve just sold it..
In sight, no one would buy it tho.
I purposely did something to max out the cpu for a screenshot
@frigid blade im buying this
Yall still remember ts 🥀
And im going to set a world record on cinebench hopefully
what am i look at
Is that a RAM cooler?
Someone in this server gave me a free 1650 super cause my gpu didnt work
no
Intels first dgpu after 20 years
bro
Didnt expect that i would be keeping this shtbox for longer than I thought tho but here we are
very sigma
Well, compared to me having priorities, it sounds maybe a bit doable. Lol.
Wdym don't hold your breath
No job so no 5070ti 🥀
Get a job
Remember, I upgraded my gpu first because my lil brother needed one and I gave him my old one.
Im gonna ask how did you afford the rest of the system..
Not hard
It was 1k
I just used my life savings
Included the funny monitor
Rookie, should’ve used the college fund
For a 5080 Asus prime or msi inspire?
The msi is 50€ more expensive
Get the cheapest 5080
I just asked for a gpu for my birthday..
I'm concerned about noise, are both silent?
I get 2 free years of community college in this state
Doesnt matter, just adjust the fan curve
Now my brother bought himself a whole new rig with something way better.
Not offended, but hey. At least I got back my old 2070S I gave him.
If temperatures doesn't allow lowering fan speed then yes it matters
Or maybe all model run cool enough?
My 4070S and my 3080ti are way too noisy, fan adjusted or not
... Even if it was apparently the source of his problems.
Aren’t these pontevecchio
Why the fuck are you getting a 5080
Sheesh...
I have 3 gaming pc
Just stay with the 4070s
The third gaming pc needs a gpu, it only has a 1080 currently
Goat gpu
The 5070ti and 9070 XT are within a reasonable distance of a 5080 and don’t cost a gorillion dollars
Just get a 5070 Ti to round it out. Lol.
Get a 4080 super, its as good as the 5080
I just had a complete system crash I think my 5070 is already melting
I’m drinking a beer at work
Osha violation 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
it also does it for youtube too
I'm buying it with my wife, so it's like half the price difference for each of us, but yeah we did thought of getting a 5070ti
It's 250€ cheaper (125€/each of us), not that much of a diff to us
A 4080S isn't really findable nowadays where I live
You using Chrome or something Chromium based per chance?
Save the 250 euro and go on a nice dinner date
We play in 4K if that matters
Or hell, buy a handful of games lmao
If you get a 5080, make sure it has 3 fans
It doesn’t, the 5080 is a huge waste of money for the money you’re spending
Thanks
And adjust the fan curve, back when i still had air cooling, my 6800 was pretty quiet
Like there’s the “money is no object purchase” and that’s the 5090 and if you have any sort of budget you shouldn’t buy the 80 class this time around
It will be cheaper than only one of my speakers in the setup in the end but yeah it's not great value....
However I fear that in the near future we hit a new gpu shortage and price only go up so we kind of wanted to buy the better one for now
@stark flicker wait for the rtx 5080 super ti titan ultra pro max /j
There is a difference between putting 125€ more per person and 1300€ more per person lmao
ddr3
Anyway, either a 5070 ti or a 5080, as long as I take a tri fan one it will stay quiet with maybe a bit of fan adjustments?
I’m just talking about the marginal difference between the 70ti/9070 XT and a 5080
ain’t no body wants ddr3, that’s why the prices haven’t changed much
Being that we're currently in an artificial ram and nand shortage somewhat, I think gpu shortage is not something that will happen so easily... Unless they just switch over to OP integrated gpus in the future, in which then that might not even be... Well, an issue I guess?
i could probably get 110% of my money back if i sold, but that’s about it
Next batch of GPUs is absolutely going to have a BONKERS price hike so buy what you can now lol
Pretty sure the issues would be different if we went all in on integrated actually.
Yeah we looked at it
16% more performance, 30% more expensive, worse value
We decided that we would take the worse value one
It won’t hurt my pc to leave it running for a few when I am not home ?
It sounds like you can comfortably afford the purchase so have fun lol
Idk, feels like either the whole economy will go down with the Ai bubble or we gamers get fucked even more and more over time haha
It’s going to be so funny when the bubble pops and nvidia is insanely over leveraged with too much inventory and they go kaput
are used workstation gpus actually a viable alternative atp if u need vram...
It's always easier when you buy it with two people and two salaries!
Which is why we accept shittier priced product
I would never buy that by myself (my wife earns twice as much as me, soon 3x...)
No it won't
I don't think the global economy will crash that hard when the bubble eventually pops or at least deflates. Won't be the same as with the crypto market of course, but the economy will end up having to rebalance in some way.
Yeah there will be a correction at some point that's for sure
But still I'm afraid for the gaming market which is why we are buying this new gpu
Ehhhhh right now the American economy is so fully dependent on 7 companies operating on wishful thinking and outright fraud that we could really take a tumble
I still have ptsd from the 3000 series shortage
the rx 6500 xt..
Like in the early 70s when we had the nifty 50 we were over leveraged on a few dozen companies and that was a disaster, but at least those companies made money and products
Now we have 7 that do nothing useful at all lmao
It's not useful yes but those companies do make money except openai, meta, Microsoft, apple etc all have quite good liquidities and revenues to absorb stuff
these should not cost this much bro...
Well yeah, our economy could be hit with quite a financial crash in some way.
At least the takeaway is that all the advancements and R&D going into AI could benefit everything else in some way, so as long as the groups and startups that backed the movement could pivot away and contribute it to the rest of the industry and economy at large.
I have no idea what are the performance of this
Microsoft and apple are fine but the other 5 I’m extremely iffy on
My pny OC 5070ti is very quiet
50 would be acceptable imo
gtx 1070. tied.
Ouch
I imagine it would be way easier to do than what the entertainment industry is going to have to go through, since that's technically already crashing as is.
Maybe on paper but in reality not anything close
2021 card btw
The restricted data bus and lack of vram make them useless in a lot of older systems
yeah then its like 1050 level
even the rare 8gb sku dosent help
A 1060 will handily outperform a 6500 XT in the vast majority of circumstances
its not even a good htpc gpu
because theres missing h264 encoding
Now if you could get it cheap and build a steam-machine esque box that was all AMD for like 200-300 bucks? That would be totally fine
Big huge if on getting the parts that cheap
Should I even keep mine atp...
It’s a neat historical artifact
In 2022 AMD launched the entry-level RX 6500 XT. This $200 / £190 graphics card had 4GB of VRAM and was also limited by other factors such as a 64bit bus width, and 4 PCIe lanes.
That said, I recently found an elusive 8GB version on eBay, an HP branded part for nearly the price of an RX 6600. So how does this model compare, and does the extra...
“The GPU that only existed because of crypto desperation”
because I have this weird sku
most are 4gb models, this has 8..which barely does anything except in games that needs it
i had to follow game settings that are used for rog ally's to get somewhwat playable frame rates that didnt look like crap
i think its barely faster than 8th gen consoles
linus should do all segues in chinese from now on
what linus is better
chinese linus
Linusese
The front panel survived the first bounce in tact.... it was the 2nd or 3rd that xploded it....
It's funny not finding any reliable review of an Asus prime 5080 / msi inspire 5080 which are the most known brands and the cheap models, which probably means the most bought ones
Is the 50 series even worth it tho? Aren’t they like not that much different from 40 series while just having a new version of dlss?
more performance, more vram
40 series are not findable so the question doesn't matter
considering the 40 series isn't produced and (generally) not sold anymore.... why would you not get 50?
Yeah i’d guess its part of nvidia’s grand scheme
not producing last gen gpus is part of a “grand scheme”?
It's not a grand scheme, it's just the older generation gets rolled out
you mean every company's plan?
New one comes out, old one goes away.
It's not exactly a hidden "Scheme"
Fair enough
they produce what sells, and the 50 series sells
Also price aren't worse than with the 40 super and even if they are not that much better they are still a bit better so eh
plus the 40 series is on an old manufacturing node iirc
its not a hidden scheme but its still a scheme of sorts
oh my bad then
that’s called a business strategy, and i’d hope a multi-trillion dollar corporation would have one
So yeah
Asus prime vs msi inspire? Any ideas or owners? I only care about noise
If no one as any info I'll go with the prime probably
no it's not.
Car companies stop making the 2025 models before they release the 2026 line.
It's literally just common sense
It's been like that for most stuff for years
And it's not like it's worse for us too anyway
Both will be fine.
If one's a 3 fan, it can generally run slower for similar cooling
but since they're all PWM'd today, noise isn't that much of an issue unless you're cranking the gpu to the max
Both are 3 fans, I'll get the prime since it's cheaper then
Thanks
perfectly reasonable choice
As said before my 4070S and 3080ti are noisy and it's annoying
headphones
unless you pay a premium for a top-tier cooler, most GPUs are fairly similar
or build a cage for your pc
Thoughts on how safe it'd be to have a monitor arm with a desk like this?
Ive got one AOC AG276QZD2 and a cheaper screen, 27" "electriq" thats alot lighter
Bit sure the material of the desk its like a UK school table or something. Goggling what they typically use says MDF / chipboard with a laminate finish. Which is what it feels like
Pic was horrible but about 1" thickness
It's for the living room
optical hdmi!
It's OK, I had something like that for years to old my microscope
It was mdf too
In the wall
You think? How heavy was it. The oled I've got is quite hefty, the other one not so much.

It was heavy
But don't worry it will work, especially if you don't do any leveraging like you can see on the photo, which is useless for a normal screen
The Focals 🔥 Aria Evo X No.4's?
No, the aria 948 but they are exactly the same from what I know, besides visually a bit different
They are insane if that wasn't a given
I'm absolutely certain of that
why is at the adrenalin clock of CPU 0.5Ghz and in task manager is 4GHz?
Anyone able to recommend a mount in this case then? 🤔
Task Manager does not do an accurate job of reporting mid/low load clockspeed. It shouldn't be used for an real measurement of realtime clocks.
If its truly important to you, most of us get our measurements from HWiNFO.
its the same here
i was arguing with some kid who said coretemp and hwmonitor was better than hwinfo
Modern chips have many cores and their individual clockspeeds are varying very quickly all the time. A single number in Task Manager will never be useful.
HWiNFO's "Effective Clockspeed" section will give you per-core as close to realtime clockspeeds as you're going to get.
Kid who gets his facts from Jayztwocents
hw monitor is shit
why do youtubers with nearly a million subs not have enough knowledge to turn on expo
and why IGPU is using 30w?
I don't know where you're getting this information but there is a good chance its reading the whole chips power draw
My psu only came with one cable labeled cpu, do I leave the 2x2 slot on the left empty?
Yes
Adrenalin
Hello
Likely reading I/O die power. Again HWiNFO's Package Power will give you total power draw for the whole chip, iGPU included. Ryzen has relatively high idle power in the 30-40W range.
any one make a good flexible USB power cable? (c to c) So I can charge tings off of my laptop in my bag, without risking port harm? doesnt need data, just power
Can anyone help me figure out why I'm not posting after swapping my graphics card?
Alright thank you, its just for overclocking right
Make a thread in #1027757333117415424 and ensure you've done everything here https://linustechtips.com/topic/42440-readme-how-to-respond-to-a-no-post-or-no-power-up-situation/
REMINDER: this thread is not to ask questions about your PC. Please create a NEW thread if you still have issues after going through this thread. So, you've put together your brand new, shining rig. and CPU in adrenalin is 5w
Yes. There isn't a CPU available that would need more than a single 8-pin EPS connector for that socket.
Also looking for data only so I can charge off of available ports and devices without concerns
Oh okay first time building so my heart sank to my stomach lol
if you can't fit the connector through the bottom hole partially covered by the board, looks like there is one above it with a blank off plate on it
Well, it's a weird situation because swapping back to my old card post just fine but this is the second graphics card I've tried. Even with a 750 what power supply, neither 5060 nor a 5070 posted. I'll make a thread if I need to but I haven't done anything wrong.
Whoops, reply to the wrong post LOL
you need to make a thread simply because we're not in this channel to walk people through basic troubleshooting
there is a place for that
Tbh I think just getting a new desk will solve a handful of problems Im having. Could actually do with extra space as well
its like that, its in differnt language sorry.
teplota yep im bilingual now
Yeah thanks
It was a rubber cover
Okay, I made the post hopefully someone will be willing to help out soon
cheaper while being basically the same performance
Alright ty
finally got it working
I was having so much trouble for no reason implementing dynamic widths for each column for the tables
but there is 20w for cpu and 30w for igpu
Shit. My pc sounds like angle grinder
I wish I could teleport in time to when I have money to do the things I want to do
Only so much I can do from here. You're not familiar with what you're looking at and i'm having to go off of what you're telling me. I'm sure its all fine.
so do 50 series gpu's need a super current bios to be detectable?
u can get into pcs with a job at mcdonalds they arent as expensive as people say they are lol
easy for me to say tho cause im a minor with no bills to pay
as far as i knew that was mainly an issue with newer cpu's on older boards. not gpu's.
figure out which fan is causing it
and then replace that fan
As long as your not using an evga board..
Mobo BIOS or GPU BIOS?
GPUs should just work on nearly any board
I'm a minor but in a third world country
fair enoughn
Weirdly dossnt work plug and play if you have an EVGA mobo
certain cards and only certain boards
even that's not universal. Also it's a very uncommon board, so that's most likely not the issue
Just something to note I suppose
People reported it applies with their z790, z490 and x299 evga boards too
Motherboard BIOS
Wonder if this dust is why my rear blower is fucked.
It's a z390 gaming Plus motherboard by the way
what mm is the rear cooler on my pc btw? 120? 140?
I mean, we can't measure it from that blown out picture but its probably 120mm
actually, now it looks bigger when opening the picture up. could be 140. what case is that
azza spectra

kinda sad tofu is also coming from amazon deforestation sites :c
ok im going to my local pc repair shop tommorow. im gonna get the whole machine upgraded. might aswell.
what type of AM5 mobo is better than a A620.
B850?
b840?
b850m?
guilty get out of tc1 you rascal
b650 b850 / m
oh ok
aight
b650m hdv/m.2 is like $100
try to avoid A series, or B840. B650/B850 is kinda where most people wanna be. A series you lose all access to PBO so free performance.
B840 is A series in disguise
Yeah, its trash
thats the thing i have the A series right now. but i might aswell upgrade the whole machine
B840 is really cheap though why so tempting
I built my pc 2 years ago before all the prices ballooned to oblivion
B840 what is going on here
decent b650 boards are like $100-$110
B550 M is a goated motherboard
ok im not going for b840. holy shit its legit a sidegrae to my current mobo
b650m hdv, pro-rs are cheap
Literally the only AM5 based chipset that doesn't use a Promontory 21 chip for the chipset. Like how cheap could they make it
it’s fine
most if not all b650 will work for what i’m assuming is either a 7600/9600 or 7800x3d
its a 7700 non X
should still be fine
€85?
if that is then good price
This price stuff is definitely going too far.
its 136 euro
940€ for 64gigs of ddr5 6000…. Gawd daem
Haha yeah same here. I got 4 64 gig ECC sticks still sitting here. Thinking about selling them lol would they go for much used? They are DDR4 tho
idk where is the $700 demand for 3090s coming from
i found a B850 for 140 euro. deal or nah?
4060 and 5060 ti 16gb exists…
whos ready for zen6
i’m passing
😮 why
i decided i better spend money for something else
and also i aint paying launch prices for zen 6
how do i install kubuntu or tiny 11 internally?
i’d rather wait 1 year
i don't have a usb
ohhh make sense
like if there will be i will buy the cheapest chinese exclusive 6 core part that’s not cut on cache
zen 6 should use 2nm I recall
considering what intel did with core ultra cpus
i see the nm as just a number
nowadays
I heard the ultra is decent for productivity
ignore the norton thing. is this an alright upgrade. for reference my current specs are
Ryzen 7 7700
Asus TUF A620
650 watt PSU
RTX 4070
MSI M371 1 TB SSD
for zen 6 I want to get the best non gaming CPU, not x3d
Maybe I’ll upgrade to zen 7 or something but otherwise my 7700x is absolutely cruising for mid-high refresh 1440p on my 9070xt
it is but, and good value too at times but i expected better
zen 3 to zen 4 was not that big of a change I recall
norton?!?!?!
Why are you bothering to upgrade the mobo
Is there something wrong with it or do you need more SSDs
This is SO going out of hand...
might consider getting a better nvme drive and downgrade the motherboard
should be fine? no reason it wouldn't detect
Love when things that drive economic growth simultaneously cripple discretionary spending heading into the holiday season
Alright im selling my ram xD might as well get profit from it lol
i need the reliability.
still got some older sticks here which i can use in the meantime haha
well what mobo would you reccomend on that website
Do you have a particular budget?
Unless you’re planning to have the system run 24/7 in a low airflow environment there shouldn’t be anything wrong with your current board lol
ill ditch the drive for now.
I got so stupid lucky at work:
I ordered 3x 32GB Kits at the end of september, and now they've gone up like 300% or something assinine.
It's absolutely bonkers.
i have a budget of 3000 DKK max for all
lemme check whats that in USD
which version of proshop
So around 500USD, right?
country
dk
denmark
to build a PC at the 500USD level? you're gonna need to do some used shopping, i'd expect....
Personally, unless you’re running into hard limits for connectivity or storage you probably shouldn’t blow money on a motherboard that isn’t going to meaningfully impact gaming
b650m hdv /m.2
ESPECIALLY given the batshit RAM economy right now
it isnt for everything
i just need a new mobo, case and maybe ssd.
well, it is possible, but only if you buy almost everything used. which i definitily recommend rn with the current market crash
What CPU u got?
What is creating the need aside from the perceived reliability of your current board
r7 7700 non x
anxiety.
why new mobo?
For a cheap and good SSD i can recommend the NV3 from Kingston and for a case the Phanteks XT Pro, not that expensive. Motherboard lemme check @jovial swan
literally. so anyways
If you're on an A620 already? No need to upgrade unless the board is causing problems
This is a bad reason to purchase something
youre wasting money
Oh i thought it was US when i was talking to other people, gotcha
You could put all of that money into another SSD
A620 is a bad purchase. If you're already on it, it's not worth the$$$ to get a "better" chipset.
it is not. ill just get a new case then
nv3
you will not gain anything from that motherboard if you don't have a specific use for it
not valid three
been using it for ages, been reliable as fuck
if you get lucky sure
https://www.techpowerup.com/ssd-specs/kingston-nv3-1-tb.d2162
there’s better options for cheap drives
I would not spend 150-200$ USD to "upgrade" a motherboard, if yours is alreaady working.
also i want USB C.
ermmm it’s unlikely that a nv3 fails but you want that risk to be really low
What board do you have?
You can get a usb a to c hub and that will cost you 40 bucks
get the MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI, it got all u need, its relatively cheap at 1200kr and got USB C and WiFi
Unless you’re doing high speed transfer for creative work there’s zero reason to tear your whole computer apart lol
that much (or less) and buy a PCIE Card with 2 USB C ports
failed drive is a loss of files if you haven’t studied some insane stuff on how to pull files out of dead nand for example
Dude I’m still so mad I bought an x670e open box without doing research
that mobo has a USB C header, so as long as a case has the plug, you should be good
Every bios was broken or beta and it lasted all of 10 months
any other components fails and it’s fine (probably, unless that part cooks other parts like psu) but if your storage dies you obviously lose your likely precious files
here is the ram prices in my country
Never buying an MSI board ever again
it's always been like this
is it okay to leave pc on overnight to afk farms on Minecraft ?
oh alr, ill get a new case then might be all i need in that case (no pun intended)
model > brand, msi isn’t that bad
yes
It was the x670e mag tomahawk
if its unlikely, why would there be any more risk than any other SSD... Also if you backup properly its not a problem in case it does happen.
Total shitshow board
it will explode and burn down your house, then your city receives an emergency call that a nuke is heading your way and the culprit was the pc left alone turned on
Absolutely perfect connectivity but zero reliability AUGh I’m still mad over it
10 dollars
nobody told you what cheaping out is?
lol nah i have a good psu wont expolde lol
kingston just takes whatever cheapest available is and meets the spec for their nv series and puts that together
if you think that’s reliable uhhh, no.
Kingston at least has (or had?) decent customer service
i know what it is. and what it means. i havent had any problems with kingston in years. so idk why there would be a problem
If you can find one of these, you can use it on your current case:
model > brand
tbh if it explodes while using it what can you do
I’ve had SSDs from every brand, big or small, die on me in the last few years
probably seasonic focus gx gold those popped up nicely
Crucial t500 lasted 6 months, my Samsung 970 Evo lasted less than 3 years, Silicon Power SN70 2TB lasted 3 months
i still got my old Sata SSD in M2 format here, this thing is easily 8 or 10 years old. still works fine and got a couple hundred thousand run hours on it.
but no harm to your components sadly
wtf? 9070xt on ultra graphics?
from Kingston btw
Meanwhile my inland (microcenter bargain brand) drives are flawless lmfao
@wheat torrent if you like actual fire hazards and melting capacitors i recommend lian li sp850
nah I love my gamemax psu
idk why, but the cheap SSDs, (not including aliexpress SSDs) last the longest for me....
it’s like a rolling dice
Some people are born to have weird luck lol
you get a defective unit of kingston and your opinion will instantly switch
heh yeah.
i mean goes same for other brands and models but with higher quality and well managed ssds cough wd the chance is lowered
ive ordered around 500 NV3 a few months ago for my work. all, except a single one which was DOA, work flawlessly.
I am lowkey cooked if my ssd dies
It's no longer the DOD, it's the DOW now
NV3s have been made for at least a few years so you’d think they would have that ironed out
Just do a proper Backup. Use veeam Agent for windows as example. its free for personal users.
or idk, Acronis true backup, whatever u feel like using
no space for backups
External Drive.. not that expensive.
expensive
40€ for a 1tb external HDD...
little over a year*
I need to buy a god damn

HDDs are cheap AF nowadays
u looking at SSDs or HDDs?
hdd old ones fucked economy doesnt even matter
why is cs2 so fun
country?
republic of moldova
important is how long the ssds will last until the computers aren’t in use
anyways
I need to buy some sata to usb I have one and its annoying to swap ssds
I need some dock of some sort
Daily use, they are used in School Teacher Laptops.
or maybe I should buy an enclosure?
are there even enclosures that work with 3.5" and sata ssds
yes

🤔
linux or tiny 11 for gaming performance (i have a 3050)
hello chat. which macOS version would y'all recommend installing in Virtualbox version 7.2.4?
i tried 2 times with Big Sur 11.7 but i just got stuck for hours at "less than a minute required"
im using the following hardware settings (for the VM):
12GB RAM
3 CPU cores
Bridged network adapter
usb 3.0
windows 11
linux if your games are supported
you mean tiny 11?
windows 11 is not an option.
ewww custom os
you will run into problems it's just a matter of time
in the end it doesnt matter what Hardware u use, i would recommend using VMWare with the proper patcher.
what games are u playing
linux I am wondering if you will run in issue with nvidia drivers
this too
this is why i ask
i dont use vmware i use virtualbox
i dont have vmware license
why would you use tiny11
war thunder command and conquer, factorio, rdr 2 and sometimes MW2 2022
just download it from chip or something.
because i hear linux drivers for nvdia cards are brutal
i mean vmware player
aight
wait a sec, i still got a install file here
its just personal preference ngl ur not gonna see a massive jump in frames, most of it is margin of error bs
peyto is a huge tiny11 hater
you prob cant find it anymore
peyton the goat
so vmware has better macOS guest support than virtualbox?
Yes. in my experience atleast.
i wasnt able to even install MacOS on Virtualbox
alright imma try installing vmware player then
OR grab a vmware workstation license
if your game work well on linux pick a game ready distro and use it
tiny11 is not useful for 99% fo the people who install it
only thing that made control somewhat playable
also if you play competitive might want to do more research about linux
most anti cheats wont let you open the game
only reason i want tiny 11 over windows 11 is that half the spyware is gone

half the spyware and everything else
Sent you a direct download link of my google drive and also some instructions
disable telementary, boom done
me when i yap about spyware and install an unofficial windows iso file and login to everything on it
Idk be baller and get ltsc win11
i once installed Atlas OS on a virtual machine and I still regret it
this is my htoughts
SignalRGB might be the coolest lighting software I've seen. They have a lighting option that shows the electron probability density of hydrogen, and you can change it based on quantum states. As a chemist, I absolutely love this setting lol
making ur own tiny11 is cool though but you dont need it
dont just randomly remove everything
you will complain softwares don't work later on
The users of SignalRGB who post their lighting setups are so creative
boooo microsoft data collection bad, let me log into google and facebook rq tho
What is telemetry I forgor
i only care becaused it slows the computers down
data collection and sending to MS
if you have an old computer thisll take up like 30-60% of your cpu
I mean my pc is alright
But Yk
Less resource overhead would be nice
be like linus and become boring such that no one cares about your data
if you have anything kinda modern it doesnt matter
again
I’m just gonna go ltsc win 11
my ryzen 5 1400 went from 30-50% idle to 0% with telementary off though which is extremely helpful
for me to solve bloat I just get a cpu with more cores
Rocking that r5 5600
Had it almost since launch lol
should be ok
yeh
I wanna get more nvme storage
And a hdd to back stuff up onto before I load up ltsc win11 lols
@azure topaz im remaking GeForce now locally for fun, wanna give it a test run when its ready? Youll get a VM with no resource limits to test around with
are you gonna ddos me afterwards
no sar
yes 😍
then maybe
only if u start mining crypto on it
too many mods out there apparently
Lmao I just watched that video
yeah for the 18 cents a day im going to make
is this not what the "disable telemetry" button does?? 😭
hey, my 4090 is pretty sigma
that is what it dooes 😭
so yea i'll just use the kubuntu iso i have installed already anyway
just had to make sure
tho idk how to install it internally without a usb
yes use it is very good and only part of windows that would realistically need debloat
if your computer is slow disable telementary and if its still slow im sorry
I should ask copilot how to debloat win11
i just turned off braves vpn and crypto bullshit, copilot, and telemetry, thats about it
nooo, you use tiny11 then install those optimization softwares!
W opsec
run everythign as admin and allow everything through the firewall
just disable the firewall
i do all my am4 occ stuff on like
https://www.proshop.dk/Kabinet/Phanteks-XT-View-Kabinet-Miditower-Sort/3270280
is this a good case?
do what linus did when installing linux and just delete your whole GUI
a bencch optimised os
looks good shawty
meanwhile me waiting for my macOS iso to download so I can create a VM
burrger cookies
cutting myself in my case while trying to install a new psu was the tipping point
and it's not that small of a case
that is a you problem deadass
no it's a case problem
dont buy cheap cases with un curled metal 😭
bruger
yes but I don't want to spend a lot on cases
so now I am just using bench cases
65 dollar
I live in fucked economy
card board
cheapest decent case here is +150
yes I am using bench cases from china
literally a sheet metal cut
yeah i have one
then I made a diy cover
Bruger's Bagels?
hi therealbilly
my bomb
hey..?
sure
its beautiful isnt it
You’re the bomb floppa
(Or maybe your pc is)
I made a hard cover from fence wire
20 years ago LiteOn was the shizz...
I don't remember when I last saw a product of theirs though
yeah im confident its a good power supply its just old
it clearly still works and allowed me to get top 5 on 5700G so its not the limiter lol
I’m going to eat your silicon
take the am4
do you want the partially degraded IMC 13900KS
Yes
its also delidded
Hell yeah
I’ll take it
shipping it to aus wouldnt even be that much surprisingl;y
maybe when my sister upgrades off herr 12700K ill send it ur way
i have known you like 4 years afterall
Hell yeahhhh 🔥
thk u for accepting my friend request
I haven’t 😭
the 13900KS is my first big boy cpu and i think its just gonna rest
Yeah
Shits kinda crazy
chat im soooo tempted to buy this but i have already spent €200+ on other upgrades
makes me hesitate much
like I’ve known some people online longer than most of my absolute best friends irl lmao
I need to get parts
Apparently I’m the only one in my friend group smart enough to host stuff
😭 😭
if pcs were cheap to ship so far id send you one for serving but thats just too much money
my old X99 (C612) (xeon v4) workstation has gotta go
💔
Yeah that’s probably something stupid like
120usd
i have and hp shtbox that has a 5600g.
so whats the 5700G gonna do
max cpu is 5700g
2 core tho
well i dont have a 12th gen system
a non G cpu like a 5600 or something would blast it ooutta the water
yes however, it only takes G cpus.
yeah i get that what im saying is that you shouldnt want to upgrade that system any further because you get nowhere
yallo
I’m gonna upgrade my sisters rig from an 8100 to an 8700 lmao
there is a point where it is more effective to start saving up for a new pc than to do relatively tiny upgrades to hold you off yknow
^^
that one
came with an 6500 xt 8gb, rebar was enabled
6500XT 8GB's are rare fyi
If I found a 5800x3d I’ll probably do that as my next cpu lol
do you still have it?
yeah?
can get good prices to some people on ebay, the 8GB variants are way harder to come by
what is even the demand on one of those shtboxes
is the AMD Ryzen 7 8700F a usable cpu for casual gaming
i wouldnt buy it for gaming no
i just got a prebuilt with it
its not even good for an HTPC or streaming box setup...dosent have H264 encoding
wassat mean
its an F cpu..
i meant my 6500 xt
it means you made a stupid decision 3 times
how do i dual boot install with no usb
Post purchase validation to feel less bad about spending lots of money idk
generally you shouldnt ask if a purchase is good after you make it
its rare but it dosent really help it that much tbh
nah but you could probably get 40-50$ more than normal
id chuck it up on ebay or something idk
oh yeah no the cards are ass
its a lot slower than a 7500F or 7600/X
I see
thats why i said want 5700g
Fr?
yeah
cuz this shtbox only takes G cpus
8700F/G has same pitfalls that am4 G skus had

the great thing about the arc card is that its not loud anymore
nope.
its even worse cuz its running at gen 3 x4
yeah
i love when my hwinfo spd hub temperature just doesnt work
over certain temps the SPDs freak out
its not hwinfo issue its a hw issue
like at 47c and exactly 47c, my old sticks used to drop out entirely in every monitoring software
but if they got hotter or colder by one step theyd come back
65c max load with 85c hotspot btw even with ptm
thats strange lol, during tm5 overnight theyd sometimes hit 50 at 1.6 but they never stopped working until today
good to know tho
