it's because Java applications commonly run better on Intel, because iirc, JVM on Windows is compiled with icc and not gcc. But I could remember incorrectly

Also the fact that this is not multithreaded by default is a crime. It's not hard to multithread really, except Minecraft's chunk generation relies heavily on neighbouring junks, but even then it should easily be parallelizable...

Xeon W9s have started popping up very recently since they have enough PCIe bandwith to make up for preformance loss by just adding extra server nodes into a node server host
being able to have a few hundred nodes for large servers is a huge benifit
