When referring to max lanes

Note 4 lanes are not usable on the cpu as it’s held for ram

So whenever we say 24, technically it’s 28. We just talk in terms of usable.

And the 16x PCIe slot is on the cpu lanes - not the chipset lanes.

In theory b650 can have 3x gen4 nvme (1cpu 2 chipset) and a gpu at 16x (cpu). However most boards don’t actually support that. As you have other things such as SATA using lanes, so it can reduce functionality of that or limit to say 2nvme from the chipset

You don’t need 2 slots running x16, the bandwidth with x8 in gen 4 is like a few percentage difference on the fastest cards compared to x16

IMO the best board configuration is x8 x8 x4
