thoughts on meta quest 3s? im interested in vr, I know i would give it a lot of use on a racing sim and games in general but im also somewhat inteterested im the mixed reality features but im not completly sure i would really use it all that much for that. on that kind of features i would also like trying out things like watching movies on it, i don´t know if they are use for productivity but also try that. Also in my country the meta quest 3s cost about 80 dollars more than the meta quest 2.

unreals new features attempt to make realism easier to do, lumen is basically raytacing, and nanite is auto LODs on parts of meshes instead of doing LOD models for entire meshes

they both save quite a bit of developer time (raytracing saves on the time it takes to bake lighting) and nanite can help alleviate the time it takes to make LODs

theres situations where their worse or better, which is where most games falter imo. nanite in simple scenes adds more overhead (it has to do a cpu pre-render pass then it has a software rasterizer for super small triangles, so in simpler scenes the cpu overhead is greater than just having the gpu render stuff) and lumen and RT in general can look nice and provides alot of inherent features that arent there with raster shadows, at the cost of like 1/2 performance. theres ways to optimize it, but even me whose used unreal for over a year now developing a game is unsure how it should be used and optimized.
