Welcome. TL;DR: BTRFS is the standard and offers far more features on a Synology NAS than ext4, so, yes, personally I recommend it over plain old ext4. It's kind of like using ZFS on UnRAID or TrueNAS instead of a plain old ext4 filesystem - you can do a lot more with it.
