I'd have to see what you're looking at I guess. There's a 24 pin one that goes to the motherboard, and an 8 pin one that is usually labeled CPU that goes to your CPU. Your GPU can have a couple different combinations depending on the one you have
Also the screw that I circled in the photo should be the one for the mobo. It's got a flattened edge to help hold the motherboard in place, and is generally more finely threaded

I used to have a hp probook 650 g2 (from like 2016) and the color accuracy was so bad i had to edit photos with an external monitor. moral of the story is you want to make sure the screen is decent, whether it's 1080p or 1440p

Use cpubenchmark.net to compare processing power (take note of both single-thread and overall score), i.e. type into google. AMD Ryzen 7 7730U vs i5-13420H and click on the cpubenchmark.net result. Display quality is kinda more important than overall power in your case, just make sure you don't get something with significantly less power than the competition

i won't go through the whole process with you but basically
- download linux .iso file (say linux mint)
- Download Rufus bootable media creator
- use a spare usb drive to create the bootable media with rufus
- put the usb drive in your computer's motherboard
- make sure the computer boots from the usb drive (depends on motherboard)
then go through the intstallation process until you get to the part about disk allocation

i have connected my old g27 pedals to an arduino uno, in attempt to make them work without the original wheel. as its just 3 potentiometers i easily got it to output a digital value on a serial monitor/plotter, which in my opinion should be more than enough, but the proper joystick library does not allow an arduino without some special chip. is there a way to take data from a serial stream and put it into an xinput or dinput controller or something?
