basically, MHz is how often the RAM can send/receive signals, but, DDR ram (Double Data Rate) allows for twice the information to be sent at the same MHz, so the MT/s is 2x the MHz

DDR stands for double data rate, and that was in the early 2000s, so the clockspeed is disconnected from the data speed. Usually by an integer number. These days we have ddr5 so the data speed is a multiple of the memory's clockspeed, which is why we have the MT/s aka megatransfers per second, instead of listing the actual clockspeed. Still with me? Okay, so the product listings you see are all in MT/s, because that's how marketing department likes it, bigger numbers.
