80 super and 90 are almost always way more than what someone actually needs. If you are targeting 4K 120+ AAA on mega ultra settings than yes, DP2.1 and those tier cards is a good choice. If you are not playing the newest AAA games and aren't trying to brown out your house for that extra tiny sliver of latency... 4K 120 is completely fine and probably for the best.

I would go with x3D if you're trying to stretch the video card to the limits. Just keep in mind that maxed out settings are going to be more video card than CPU side. Also Maxed out settings are usually so far placebo that you won't notice details.. so I would say try to fiddle with settings for the best fidelity you want and don't set everything to max.

i use it plugged in 24/7

and they would all heavily thermal throttle except the macbook under my loads

i would rather take the thick ass jet engine over throttling
