Np
one last question i should upgrade now right
What is it
60 super
you have to test it
Ouch, yes
how
naturally dead cards don’t usually have external signs of wear
i don’t have another build
guys if rtx means ray tracing then gtx means gay tracing right?
is this true @clear canyon
to what
well, then you can’t know, assuming it got good care it is likely functional
it was unlatched in my case while getting shipped
Normally yes, there can be obvious damage to make it not work too
Gpu, 1660 super is weak
i agree
but it doesn’t run bad on any of the fames i play
granted i don’t play anything intensive
What fps?
a dead component on the pcb of the card does not usually exhibit signs of burning, leaking or such, especially a loose solder joint you won’t be able to tell
what budget gpu should i pair with my i5 10400
180+ per say
4060 level of peformance
When your cpu or gpu is limiting your other parts from performing better
what is that @clear canyon
Yeah ur fine then
Thermal pads
dust
is that normal
Yeah, they all have them
It cools VRMs and Vram
this discord server has helped me way more
thanks
Np
you can literally google what gpu’s pcb and cooling consists of
@clear canyon thanks for being not lot kcetinky
i didn’t know what is was though
Lol, np
teardowns duh
are you okay man
i should be mad bc my cpu is broke
@clear canyon
I would at least be sad
you might consider brushing it with a soft brush to get some of the dust
i was for a bit but my dad said he would buy a new one tmew
Pog
i believe he said tmew i’m not sure
but he did say he would buy a new one
What are you getting?
and my dad kinda spoils me bc he didn’t have a present father
same cpu rosen 7 5700x
oh sweet, nice
Everyone had a dad, but not everyone has a father figure
Not bad, sweet
yeah
he told me he never wanted me to be sad like he was
I'm thinking of a 5700G for my NAS lmao
what is a nas
Thats what i use in mine lmao
the Gs are worse at handling GPUs though
home server, pretty much
I use mine for files and doing renders that would take too long for my "normal" PC
It stands for "Network attached Storage" its a computer dedicated to allowing multiple computers to access its storage over the network
It doesn't need to be fancy, just having a single drive will work
Not recommended but it will work
fair enough
This is my NAS and here is its specs:
Asus tuf x570 plus wifi (wifi is turned off)
64gigs 3200mhz cl16
r7 5700G
rtx 3060ti
2x 2tb hdd
1x 1tb hdd
1x 4tb WD red Nas drive
250gig ssd boot drive
500gig gen 3 nvme ssd for l2Arc
16gig optane ssd for cache
1x single 2.5gig nic
1x duel 10gig nic
650 MAG A650GL psu 80+ gold
Startech molex powered pcie blower fan
Thermalright Assassin x120 refined SE cooler
Its still a WIP
@foggy shore
@limpid dune
how long did it take to build
3060Ti in a NAS??? ayooo
Like 2 hours
Yeah, im ballin on it ☺️🙏
is that bad
Nope, its overkill lmao
Bc its only job is to transcode video from my media server thats in a VM
oh
Thats why i have the 5700g, so Truenas won't yell at me bc it hates having its only gpu being used for other stuff
oh damn, my current setup is an i5-7500 and it's fine with multitasking like that
Yeah, the 5700g is overkill too, but I need more cores for more VMs lol
I’m updating my bios and it got about half way and then the pc restarted itself and the monitor has been black for like 3 min now. Is this normal?
I have a 5900x but I need the gpu
Yes
Just let it do its thing
Word, that’s kinda what I figured
I just finished my PC and it’s not letting me connect to Wi-Fi or get in bios. What am I supposed to do?
I don’t know how to wipe my old SSD drive either. I think it’s messing up my PC.
hopefully my whole pc isn’t cooked and it’s just eh cou
if it's a ddr5 system, it might take like 10 minutes
why is it all of sudden when im using apps in full screen the texts look like a kids doodle art work
@clear canyon how long is ddr4 from becoming like 3
Ddr3 is still something ppl use actively, so a very long time tbh
Ddr3 and 4 are super cheap now
So it makes great budget platforms
how many years till a update is kinda mandatory
hey creaper
That all depends on how happy you are with ur system
can i ask you about some stuff i wanna buy & if they're a good decision
Hello 🙂
Sorry, i gtg to bed, its 11pm now and I got work early in the morning
Gn everyone
alrighty
i currently am but i feel like i need to upgrade in a year or 2
gn creaper
my gpu is kinda weighing my build down
gn thanks for the help
That depends. Technically, I could still be using my old i7-4790K + DDR3 system right now if I was okay running Windows 10 beyond its End of Life date and didn't feel the need to upgrade to newer hardware. My personal rule with memory generations is that they generally have ~10-15 years of useful life, depending on your needs.
Yes, and you can also use it for servers or what not too for on the cheap
hey kirashi, lemme ask u then if your fine w/ it?
i play games competitively
like im like top 2k in rl or smth
In that case, you may find benefit in running a DDR4 or DDR5 system vs DDR3 in 2025.
should these be good?
no i have a ddr4 build rn i’m just wondering when i should upgrade
gpu might be a bit overkill
what currency is that
Hungarian Forint
No idea what the currency conversion is here, but that GPU is almost 15 years old and who knows if that PSU will explode, catch fire, or short circuit. The case might be worth it if cheap enough and you have no other options.
honestly DDR3 is still goated for things where performance doesn't matter too much. Latency is still very good
no need for newer gpu
"GPU might be overkill"??? that's 2011, and not even good 2011
You should upgrade when you feel your current system no longer meets your needs.
what are you playing with that GPU?
i have an asrock 775i945GZ with an intel pentium dual-core e2160 2gb ram
so i doubt i need anything newer..
whuh
Absolutely not
what are you doing with that computer...?
I think it's better to look for a used office computer
bought the cpu, ram, board at once in a flea market, want to make it work
would be my first ever pc build
2GB of RAM cannot run any version of Windows after XP, I think
i need a gpu for a reason
real unc
that psu is a rebranded chinese bomb
this is right, for a price point this low, a used office machine will do well. Intel iGPUs are probably faster than the 650Ti anyway
the case is the same brand
At least a case cannot explode
true true
akyga rebrands anything from cables to psus, cases, etc.
do these all still look useable
can you reccomend a good psu under 25 usd?
brush off the GPU a bit, but yeah, it all looks workable. You can't tell if it's going to work by pictures, though
i’ve found out when searching through aliexpress for pwm cables, fans, they take generic no brand/ no name cable and rebrand them, take 50-200% margins.
bro
Can someone help me in tech support plz
go on ebay or market place
used psu?
you should also avoid eurocase
yes, no way you think your getting a new PSU for 25 bucks my guy
a used office machine can be as low as $40, and it will outperform that 650Ti
no
just get a minipc
someone tell nzxt that
never
if you buying any new psu for like under 70 usd you are buying a bomb
only good psus i know of from aliexpress at reasonable’ish price are thermalright
thanks though
well not that good* just not junk
mate just save up for a actually good PC, your not going to have a good experince. No point in trying to stretch your money building a bomb
650ti is def not a card worth any amount of money anymore
fire cases
yeah they gotta pay me to get rid of it tbh
It’s been like 15-20 min now
It’s been like 20 minutes now
@clear spruce lowest you should go is probably some montech apx or deepcool bronze models (be specific because some of the models may not be good of 80+ br. deepcool)
if these are not available then msi a-bn or a-be, xpg pylon
they are usually a bit more tho
how muhc?
gotta spend atleast 50
dam
My bios update was about half done and then it restarted and the screen went black and has been black for about 20 minutes now. Is that normal?
surely someone cops me a battlefront 2 gift lmfao
sure if you pay /j
will do once nvidia and amd both sell their flagships at msrp
do you have bios flashback on your board?
If Yes,
click that and let it do its thing
If No,
might be a pcie link issue where display is not showing up
If else,
You're most likely cooked.
*might be just a super long update also, be careful
a very cheap psu can fail and end up catastrophically for rest of your components, and it’s not exclusive only when at the point of failure (when the psu dies)
we are getting there lmfaoi
aka the psu can wear your components slowly on run time when it has way too much ripple for example
Yes I have the flash thing and that’s what I used
still nothing?
true
No
also less shit psus are going to have much higher expected lifespan
Pc is on but no display or anything
it would be sad to replace a psu twice in a single system
yeah but unsure if the board even works
you could let your intuition take over on what you should do next ¯_(ツ)_/¯
try restart
hold power button to hard shutdown and try booting
also before you do that, is everything about the pc normal from physical stand point (fan spins, rgb on and so on)
nope. not all motherboard has click to shut down
and certainly not for hard shutdown
Yes
I’m gonna restart
goodluck
So restart
give it 5 more minutes
if it doesnt do anything just restart
Im just gonna do it now it’s been like 30 minutes
sure its your call
Here we go
I’ve still got nothing
Do I maybe need to unplug the thumb drive from the flash slot?
uh weird question but, have you tried connecting to board display out?
could give that one a shot
are you on gpu riser?
What’s that
Is bios flashback this little button on the back
bios flashback should actually bring your board back to factory settings and boot up. im guessing you bricked your update
I unplugged the thumb drive
what board are you using?
Asus b650e max gaming wifi W
Do I press and hold the flashback or what
While it’s on?
yeah theres a small button at the back
"BIOS
FLBK"
try this
even if you brick your board, this should recover it just fine
So just press and hold the button?
have you downloaded the new bios yet?
I was in the middle of the new download
When the screen went black
Half way through and it restarted the pc on its own and it sent black
wait hold on, did you update using ezflash on windows lol
or did u not even start bios update yet
I started update
I was in the bios doing the update
I went to my bios and used a thumb drive to do the update
I was in the middle of the download when it randomly restarted the pc and screen went black
you have spare laptop to repeat this step?
Not rn
The dumb drive was old as fuck too
I did my windows install on it 5 years ago but I deleted everything first
in that case, have your pc in full shutdown
Ok it’s off
and then thereafter, plug in your thumb drive and press flashback button until it blinks 3 times
Will it blink on the board or on the back where the button is
Ok it blinked a few times and now the green light is on
thats normal, let it be
sup guys
?
I have a green light on so I just wait now
have a read inside the reddit threads
also, try booting
Try turning it on?
yeh
is the light off?
green could also indicate you downloaded the wrong bios
gotta try booting to find out
I tried booting and get nothing
Had green light and now I tried to turn it on and nothing
All fans and RGB and everything is on
that doesnt really mean anything aside from the fact that they have power
the flashback light should be off when its done updating
The CPU could be dead and the fans would still spin and light up
and blinking until its done
It was steady green
Try starting the flash again
I redid the press and hold thing
hate oneui7
It’s now steady green after blinking 4 times
4-5 times means theres an error
So what do I do now
power cycle the psu: flip the switch, wait for all the rgb to turn off, turn power back on, and then try it again
turn off the power supply's switch
Done
wait for the rgb to turn off
It’s off
turn the switch back on
Ok
then hold the flash button for 3 seconds
Blinking green light now
is it steady blinking or is it changing pace
Steady
then its working
tell me if it stops
How long should it take?
It just shut off
I mean, you'd be surprised, those flash roms are quite slow
completely off? nothing else?
Nothing
Yea but the bios size is also very small
then its done
Do I unplug the thumb drive then start the pc?
Should I unplug it?
as long as nothing presses the flash button, it doesnt matter if its plugged in or not
without the button pressed its just a normal usb port
still tho.
For example a 2018 laptop of mine took 2 mins to flash the full 4MB rom, and a similar amount of time for a 2012 board to flash its bios, maybe the chips speeds have gotten faster but I don't see why they'd need them faster lol
3 keyboards what in the hell
It’s not 3 keyboards
2 mice
I have 1 mouse 1 keyboard a headset mix amp a phone wireless charger
What do I do now?
Go to bios
typical american megatrends bios hardware detection lmao
did you already have an OS on one of the drives? or is this a fresh build
fair
headset mix amp probably shows up as a keyboard for volume control
dunno about the 3rd one, or the mouse lmfao
What
Had an os
do you remember what drive it was on
AMI has weird hardware detection, not as sophisticated but it's enough to understand if you have shit or not
that AMI at the top, they have really funky hardware detection lmao
Yeah my m.2
ok, go into bios, and put it as the boot device
doing the flash like that resets all settings
im sure the board can figure out which is boot as long as windows boot manager on that drive works properly
altho you can always set them up
and there is no other windows drive*
i mean it made him go to bios anyways
I changed my memory speed and it’s restarting now
?
ok filter got me lol
oh man, I had a GATEWAY PC from 2012, back when AMI was still American Megatrends, the crystal Oscillator committed cease and desist cause I constantly toggled the PSU switch for quick testing
slept in the nether huh
I got a whole lotta OSes that thing
aside from being on 10, yea
Should I get 11?
probably a better idea
you can move the taskbar back to the left, and disable the ai shit in registries
arch
can someone explain this
So the whole reason I wanted to update bios is because games were crashing and sometimes my pc would randomly restart
why cant i set the location
Mostly while playing Tarkov
huhh?
could be temps?
man shush, wait a damn minute, or make a forum post
alright bro ill shush
I don’t know how that could be, I have a liquid cooler on my cpu and I have never had an issue before
that gateway PC had an i5 3330, and for some grueling reason my parents added a GT 730 (it was GK107, 2GB DDR3, not the Thermi version), lasted 9 years before death.
I am pretty sure I used plenty of thermal paste
give it a test on tarkov and see how it goes
could also be driver but thats a convo for later
did you remember to peel that plastic at the bottom of the cooling block?
On the cpu cooler?
Yeah I have had this cooler on my pc for 5 years
actually all of them expect for very funky ones
ah ok
I upgraded cpu ram and motherboard then all this started happening
perhaps time to fresh install windows?
could be conflicting drivers and everything. not sure what you did after upgrading since this information is new
I updated all the things it told me to
i'd fresh install it if its very different from the last
Like an asus thing came up and made me download driver and stuff
its armoury crate isnt it
Yes it’s from am4-> am5
I think so
funnily enough, i think i know how to solve your issue lol
I also have a different motherboard brand now
ive had this issue as well with asus board on AM5
all i had to do is uninstall armoury crate and all its services
no more crashes after that
yeah, it was asus tuf board
Mine is not a tuf
changed to asrock now but yeah, armoury crate was so stupid it made shit crash
wouldnt matter, they are the same thing across all platform (rog, tuf)
try giving that a shot
would actually be really funny if that fixes it
I had an msi before now and asus
So the armory crate if I delete that it won’t mess with any drivers or anything
nope, its just a software in windows. your bios technically does depend on crate if you use it on windows, but im sure you only need to adjust things in bios and it'll be okay
armory crate is safe to remove
Ok, I’ll try that tomorrow morning
Yeah I’d be playing games and the game would randomly crash and sometimes it would restart the pc
Your pc restarting should show the reason in the event logs, maybe we could see what's causing it from there
yeah this sounds exactly like my armoury crate problems lol
Noted
had to diagnose for 3 days before finding that solution
Getting rid of that when I get my desktop working
thought my board is broken and shi
Why such a weird name
Is armory crate really that bad? Jesus
yeah it is
?
what do yall got in ur main PCs? I can guarentee mine is worse
I thought it was just driver updates
What about it even causes shit to crash? Lol
7600x, 7800xt, 32gb 5200mt
My senior year was a thinkpad t530
yeah mine is certainly worse so let me put my specs out here
well asus made their bios kind of interconnects with armoury crate
which also means a lot of dependencies which asus somehow dont know how to execute lmao
so whenever you try to change something, it turns to shit (via Windows not on BIOS itself)
this is the same with their laptops as well
im gonna get REALLY nerdy and indepth with my specs here
So armory crate having direct connection to bios and windows doesn't like it
which is why people use g-helper on the laptop and bios entirely on the desktop
more like asus dont know how to do it well
windows is okay with it
oopsies
But it is completely safe to delete armory crate? Even with all the interconnects?
Redit seems to agree that armory crate is ass
yeah, all the things you find on crate, is already available via BIOS
having crate is uh, waste of space
Fair enough
I still need to find out what keeps bricking my gpus
I cannot for the life of me figure out wtf it is
Something is ruining your gpus?
https://www.reddit.com/r/ASUS/comments/1dglf2n/i_cant_believe_armoury_crate_is_this_level_of_crap/
have a read, its like a disease lol
Intel Pentium Silver N6000 @ 1.1GHz, Up to 3.4GHz on threads 0 and 1, 3.3GHz on 2 and 3 , 4C 4T
4GB LPDDR4 Memory, 2933MHz
Intel 11th Gen UHD Graphics (Jasper Lake)
128GB eMMC Storage
Arch Linux (I am NOT the "i use arch btw" kinda guy)
MrChromebox Firmware
if its not obvious by the firmware, this IS a modded chromebook
1366x768x32 @ 60Hz, 15.6"
it was ~180$ or so, and considering it was originally a chromebook, fucking expensive for a chromebook
I’m going to bed I will delete armory shit in the morning and let you guys know how it works. Thank you all for the help
its not bad
not the worst ive seen
emmc is kind of a bummer but it works
and it being a chromebook everything is soldered
i mean, the eMMC is the best part, a microsoft surface with a 1035G1 comes with 64GB eMMC, and regardless even some of the top teir chromebooks max out at 32 or 64GB
Thinkpad t530,
Windows 10 pro,
Original hard drive,
I5 3230m 2c 4t, base 2.4ghz, turbo 3.2ghz.
Intel hd 4000.
8gb lpddr3
and thank god for it being CR50, unlocking the firmware was as easy as unplug battery lol
arch linux is pretty nice
senior year of highschool was an abstract kind of pain
well in terms of laptop im running
asus vivobook 16
Windows 11 Home
Ryzen 5 7530U
16gb ddr4 3200
radeon something2
I still have this thinkpad, it still works 100%
on ebay I found a 17$ chromebook with a celeron N4020, broke keyboard lol
I should buy a SuzyQ cable to mod it cuz well, broke keyboard means no dev mode
they do be want the tracking revenue
The only damage is a small chunk missing from the plastic housing
MONEY
You wanna know what's funny?
chicken butt
The ONLY reason, that I took that thinkpad to class with me, instead of the schools little dell lattitudes
Is because for my senior year, they blocked ALL outside .exe files from running
nowadays you have far more options that allow for open source, especially peripherals have gotten so much better in that and also cheaper in hardware
man I had a Hinge Problem kinda HP
CS class kids were pissed, because they literally could not test their code
had an i3 8130U, 8GB DDR4 2400MHz, and the Intel UHD 620 Graphics
until the hinge problem part, it was extremely rugged, I fucking dropped this thing on the way in to the hair salon
I took my thinkpad, with its shitty battery, 8 minute boot times, and dead bios battery.
Specifically so I could play risk of rain and factorio in class
somehow, risk of rain 2 ran on intel hd 4000 graphics
how long did its battery last
Turned on? About 10 seconds
Sleep mode, about an hour
Errr
Not an hour, like, 20 minutes
But, that was the original battery that it came with
holy fuck
this chromebook i have lasts a few hours, like 6 or 7, my HP lasted 2, terrible portable device
I like this chromebook but 15.6" is extremely bulky
Original removable disk drive,
Expresscard slot,
The docking port on the bottom,
And of course, thinkpads nub mouse thing
Yellow usb port out the back, dunno what that was for.
Vga on the left side
ooh ooh i had a 2005 laptop at one point, just for fun
69$ (nice), it was apparently 3000$ in 2005
O-O
Dell Inspiron 9300
its final specs before death were:
Pentium M 740 - Original
2GB DDR2 533MHz - Came with 1GB, previous owner probably upgraded it from 512M at some point
ATI Mobility X300 - DX9
80GB Laptop PATA - fast boi for 2005, it installed windows 7 within 20 mins lamo
for some reason the screen lost its gloss
I don't remember the name of the brand, weird funky almost gear looking symbol
I can accuratly list every OS ive put on this if youd like
this list is huge...
DOS 6.22, FreeDOS, Windows 1.01, Windows 3.0, Windows 95 (broke half way), Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 (vBemp is my savior here), Windows XP (Stock), Windows XP Home (used more thann pro LMAO), Windows Vista (Came with WDDM Drivers OOB), Windows 7 (Spent a couple years scouring for WDDM drivers for Aero), Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 1507, Windows 10 1607
Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04 (i386 achieved with net install), Debian 10, Debian 11, Debian 12, some Linux Mint build before they dropped i386
i also got Haiku on there
im surely missing a few
i did windows 3.1
idk, but Windows 7 had the best experience
man Id love to try CSMWrap but Jasper Lake locks some PAM shit so i cant
chat is gone, flatlined
no TempleOS shame
Which is the best mouse sensor up to date?
I mean, after a certain point it's not going to make a difference...
3395 is a pretty common high end sensor
yes
okay ty
check case manufacturer's website for maximum psu length
3950 but you don’t need that 3395 is plenty good
but most will fit with no problems
is this a good type of psu?
Got it got it
also brands like logitech and razer have their own custom sensors but you may know they’re exclusive to the brands
ancient
I might suggest looking into getting something a little newer, since psu safety standards have changed since 2007
still, 3395 and even something like 3370, 3335 and such are fine
you will not notice
wow leaving out my dear friend pixart3389
usually nowadays with higher end sensors it’s the implementation that manufacturers of mice mess up
15ice, minimum wattage should be?
Im using the Superlight 2, but the scroll is not working properly, some times it double clicks and gets a little reset that changes my DPI then goes back to normal, so Im looking for a new mouse, my budget is around $80 USD
but yeah ofc if you have some low end sensor that uses a red light for tracking a good implementation won’t increase it’s resolution
it will suck.
depends on the system specs
become g502 bot #44441236545
contact logitech for rma
should have 2 year warranty
for low end systems, 450W-550W is completely fine
with a midrange CPU/GPU mix, 520W-650W is good
ASRock 775i945GZ board, intel pentium dual-core E2160 2gb ddr2 and possibly a gtx 650TI gpu
will upgrade ram if cpu can handle
Yeah, bought it may 2024
why people still suggest this thing 💀 apart from it’s shape there’s nothing much special about it… maybe the weight… but why would you want to make your mice heavier
450W is enough
okay
yes contact logitech
wont that corsair be good?
which one
are these good connections
eh im running 7800xt and 7600x at nothing more than 400watts
it depends on how efficient your system is
@steel umbra
this is a relic… get a new psu
dude, im trying to power a possibly decade old board
it should be good enough.
it's a very old power supply, so I'd avoid using GPUs that could spike in power usage. In your case, it should be fine, but I still suggest looking into getting a new power supply since psu safety standards have improved since 2007
ATX connectors have not changed since the 90s. And the board has nothing to do with it, old PSUs just go boom sometimes
man i don’t even know which oem manufactured the psu, the psu may be dead or may oof your components if you try plugging it into your components due to it’s age
something may have failed
better?
but well if you don’t care about the parts sure
that one is still meh but probably much better
nvm
TOO far.
nvm, just an hour drive in total
duh buy montech apx for 45-55 and be done
or buy an used C tier psu or some B tier if you get lucky
not unknown or E tier
too much
is that the chinese knockoff of corsair psus
what is that thing
?
you can reuse the psu in future, it was warranty in case it breaks
no?, its a real thing lol
which is actually maybe more concerning
tuf bronze yes
lmao
prime as well
question
if my mom says shell give me $460 to buy a pc and then shell never give me more money for a pc
then i buy it and she allows me to upgrade it with used better parts
does that sound stupid
and also
would there be any issues that may come up with that?
please don’t be such a cheapstake and buy an okay psu
dude, its not my money
i got no money, it would be my parents.
i want it cheap for a reason
I think they'll understand the importance of having a good power supply unit
there are no options at such price
you'll also want to get yourself a UPS if you don't already have one
anything cheaper than the montech apx is 📉
UPS?
oh this makes sense then
i was questioning its size in relation to my higher wattage psu same brand
old and bulky
ask your parents very kindly that getting atleast low end psu is important
uninterruptible power supply, basically a surge protector with a giant battery attached so incase of a power outage or a thunder strike nearby, your computer doesn't immediately turn off
How bad are 12th gen Victus'?
Surge protection too
Not many results on Google for me, somehow
most UPS has surge protection
chaining a bunch of surge protectors is generally a bad idea aswell
whats the best gaming laptop i can buy?
Ye just putting the function out there for knowledge
None
Why ever buy a gaming laptop
Cuz i need something that only a windows laptop can do that is usable
i already have a pc
try looking at lenovo legion laptops or asus rog zephyrus
“5090” laptop
There is no "best" anything, but the top spec'd version of this is quite up there. Don't expect battery life though.

funky name
if you already have a pc for games, then I think it's fine to get a laptop with a decent iGPU instead
i dont want high performance in games just alright performance. tbh i need something for school that i could also make music on but i need it to be a windows laptop
take a look at Lenovo Thinkpads and Asus Zenbooks
you can utilize upscaling for more demanding games
lossless scaling was the plan
is there anything with more battery life?
15ice, can you reccomend a psu, thats not that expensive, but trustable and good?
how much power do u need?
450-500w
i havent had any problems with the nzxt c750 so far so im guessing the c650 is probably just as good
I have a problem, when I full load my gpu about 2 months ago it reachs about 72-73 Degree Celcius. But nowadays it reachs about 79-81 degrees celcius. I didn't overclock, the fan is at 100% speed, there is not much dust
650w?
Bruh, I got Nvidia driver'd again.
yeah
but get a second opinion, im only recommending off of my personal experience
you’ll not get cheaper than i suggested
looks for C tier or atleast D tier psu use spl tierlist
and buy used
if you insist on getting a used power supply, I might try looking for corsair's cx m power supplies
there is spl psu tierlist
go on marketplaces, look up psus and check what tier they are
if they’re not on the list or E/F tier don’t buy
28 members 😭
good?
i don’t think pf is okay
group regulated, and not a good one
by pf i mean the model it’s well pf500
as i said go to the list and check used, you’re wasting our time really if you’re going to ask about each psu whenever it’s good
at $30 99.5% of them are not going to be proven to be decent
for the last time i’ll suggest montech apx, that’s the cheapest C tier at 550w
if you want used you’re on your own
dude, its a 50$ psu.
its NOT 30.
which one
^
that trash for 50 is a joke
montech apx is much better
used msi a-bn, pylon
only good aspect about this psu are looks, internals… not okay
is seagate barracude a good company for hard drives? i already have an nvme ssd and im looking to get either a 2 or 4tb hard drive
good implying there's better options or good implying just simply they're good
@rigid fjord Found a usable (I think) LOQ
LOQ 83JC0001US
R5 7535HS, 3050 6gb, 12GB RAM
good to buy
nothing much to lose except if you go to brands nobody heard of
gotcha. thank you

Xbox ally collaboration looks like it could be Interesting
are you the guy that said they need a windows laptop
yeah
that laptop uses Windows for ARM-based CPUs and is different from x86-64 Windows
check to make sure that programs you'll be using are supported on ARM, or can at least be emulated
well first things first is what do you wanna do wit it
it could be just fine if you do not need anything that doesnt have arm support just yet
make music and for college, gaming as a plus not the main use
eh then avoid
not that many games can do arm natively yet.
if you just want to stick to music and college, shouldnt be an issue
Arm is the future
it is, but now is not the future
buy for what you need today, not what it can do tomorrow
whats arm? im kinda lost

the snapdragon processor it uses in running on ARM architecture
its basically a mobile processor
what we usually use is X86 (desktop or laptops)
X86 currently has extremely wide support due to major processor and windows supporting them
X86 is inefficient
amd, intel
reason being?
Have you see. Difference in battery life
i mean ik snapdragon runs more efficiently than x86
i can have the same cache, cores, clockspeed and power and x86 would do better vs ARM lol
brother intel ultra mobile and AMD AI chip can achieve 12-16 hours easily
The new Snapdragon get 18+ hrs
youre comparing this to apple M series chip that runs custom ARM chip
or snapdragon for that matter
The new amd ai chips get way too hot
From laptops I've seen reviews for saying those chips makes the chassis very warm
probably because its way more powerful?
Never seen the snapdragon ones have those issues
10 hrs of battery life is enough, i just dont want to have to charge my laptop between classes 😭
no touchies, this is one of the amd LOQ's that die
show me benchmarks snapdragon vs AMD AI
explain the gaps and also temperature differences
Every laptop with those chips is like 1500+
do this and then we talk
i can give you multiple articles right now if you want
Like one of most popular laptops with that chip the Asus Zenboook s 16 I've seen many reviews complaint about the heat build up in the chassis
you do realise, laptops are designed to run hotter than a desktop constantly
asus zenbook heats up with a 7350U lmao
Then why has this laptop in question have these complains in reviews and not other laptops
this is damocles, he'll bitch about everything

Its funny to me how the apple stuff in this photo was free
AW
What LOQs DON'T die??
in question you mean asus? probably because they make shitty cooling with budget laptop lol
I want the Luna Grey </333 - It's also got a 3050 6gb
Which is less relevant than the Luna Grey
It's not a budget laptop
@kindred halo ignore the fingerprints i just put the iMac back together, but what do you think of the free iMac, magic keyboard, and trackpad?
https://a.co/d/0CRUaow what we think chat? its not arm, atleast i dont think it is
Lenovo ideapad 3 Gaming Laptop Designed to Run AAA games smoothly Game at Professional Speed Lenovo ideapad gaming 3 RTX4050 powered by the new octa-core AMD Ryzen7 Processor, run heavy PC games and video-editing applications smoothly, as well as numerous programs all at once. Built for High-FPS ...
2023 models, primarily ones that have a 7640h/hs and 7840h/hs
Whats wrong with arm?
well yes, but its definitely thin
appearantly theres not alot of games that run natively with arm
do not touch, this is another one of the newer LOQ's that die in 6 months
Oh, you’re a gamer
G14 is overpriced
It's like 3000
It ain't worth all that
Paying 3000 for a laptop with no GPU is crazy work
ignoring that, and also ignoring the fact that ryzen ai 9 can actually game without a DGPU becuase of how powerful their iGPU is speaks volumes of how much more powerful it is compared to snapdragon entirely
not really not a laptop gamer atleast, i need something i can make music on and use for college that has a long battery life but can run some games on, not triple a games like normal games
G14 has at least 4060 equipped lmao
what do you mean
This looks nice :3
he really forgets how good the 8060s igpu is
3000 dollars for 4060 equivalent lol
You can either buy that, or the cheapest 5090 available 😂
does anybody recommend a good place to buy prebuilt computers that don’t come with really bad parts
Ngl, if you already have a desktop, just get a macbook
Mine's a 7535HS,,,, I am just about 105 off from having a decent laptop
You could get a decent laptop top with 4070 capabilities for like 2000
exactly. shit is so fire it puts other mobile gpu's a run for their money
4070 laptop or 4070 brick though?
is it as thin? does it have vapor chamber? can it do 10 hours battery with mux switch?
Why are mfs obsessed with things being so thin
i was thinking that but i need a windows laptop for the music reason
I don't want shit to be a thin as an iPhone
its not an obsession, its a choice
nobody is obsessed here lol
I don't know man I want a brick with so many ports you can call it an aircraft carrier
weight
Apple is known for their music stuff
And g14 screen too small
I couldn't game on a screen that small
It's basicly tablet
Is damocles still on the laptop rant???
if you want a loq, you're going to have to look on ebay tbh, you'd want it with either a 7640h/hs or 7840h/hd inside
At that size
yes
How many weeks has it been now
I'm not even ranting just giving my preferences on laptop design
idk I haven't been active here
But whatever floats ur boat
its easier to gain access to certain things on a windows laptop compared to Mac
I swear literally every day damocles changes their opinion, for example:
day 1; asus good
Day 2; asus bad
Day 3; asus good
Name one thing windows does better in terms of music production
Asus is good for some things not so good for others
Asus good, but Asus also bad
The company has pros and cons ain't that deep brother
cracked plugins
Just depends on the product
Dude
1 you dont need those on macos
2 are you trying to get your info stolen
I wouldn't use a mac cuz it has less gaming support
wym u dont need those on mac os, it has nothing to do with mac its about music
The plugins on macos are free
I wouldnt use a Mac for the same reason I generally avoid NVidia
That price to performance is rarely ever good
you have no clue what im talking about bru
Wait
Are the issues on the 7535HS laptops the same as Intel? Or battery life / overheating?
im talking about vst plugins
I really want the 3050 6gb but the only options that I've found till now are this and the 12450HX LOQ </3
idek if talking abt ts is allowed on here
mainboard dying, not as bad as intel, but happening
https://www.ebay.com/itm/177134361581 if you want a decent loq that doesn't die, this would be the one to get
I think I could risk it,,,?
Mostly seems like a BIOS issue I think,,,,,
Wait, are the 7235HS Laptops also affected
also affected, that is the "essential" versions,. with 7#35's that have had issues in one way or another that parts of the cpu has been disabled
@agile topaz i wouldn’t call this “bad price to performance”
7235hs = 7535 hs with some bits disabled, 7435hs = 7735 hs wit some bits disabled
These m4 max’s also pull 1/3rd of the power
~150W on average
appearantly the battery life is ass on it
Its a gaming laptop
They all have shit battery
Less if you count the transients of the 3090
I guess, I think I was intending that most of the time you'll be paying the brand tax with them though
Would I be bottlenecked by my ryzen 7 5800x if i get an rx 9070 xt?
Same can be said about everything
Samsung is the best example rn
Yeah, it's just that some brands make you pay a higher tax than others, everyone's overcharging nowadays
Samsung is worse than apple
except thermalright
Samsung shit so expensive
Kek
Ive never seen a Samsung laptop honestly
Its for the better
Or a Samsung pc for that matter

Samsung smart pc, only $4700 for an rtx 2080
Yeah hell nah
Samsung 4k tv is like 1500 dollars
exactly i want a laptop with a decent battery life that can run games like minecraft, terraria, or powerwash sim not like fortnite or some other big game.
it's a mid range gaming laptop with one of the best mobile cpu's for gaming inside
When LG TVs are better
I'm an AMD shill honestly, but honestly I don't think I can build a better pc for less in a $1500 budget with NVidia
Might as well just get a macbook for the same price with far better performance and battery
Siiick I was worried it would be. 5900 no longer available near me so I'd have had to go 5950 if it couldn't keep up
Cheers rauko, mvp as usual😏
Maybe a 5070 honestly, but I hear more of the 9070 considering my echo chamber
Usually go amd except for laptops
you'd go 5700x3d instead tbh
I go Intel for laptops seems to have more variety in choice with Intel
Personally i dont want to deal with amd again
How did they do you dirty?

Ohh I thought it'd be a step back to go 5700 instead of 5800,but guessing the 3d cache hauls
the main focus is not gaming i dont plan to run demanding games on it i just like 8-10 hrs battery life and be able to run low demand games like powerwash sim
I have to use my igpu just to get a decent output
Which card do you have?
Couldn't you just get a laptop with a decent igpu then
^^

AMD has a "new" CPU for budget gaming laptops, the Ryzen 7 7435HS, but it doesn’t h...
I want to make a pc that'll last me a good time at a $1500 budget, and right now I'm looking at an ASRock 9070 (base model) with the 9600X. The XT generally costs $150+ more while drawing more power, I might just prefer to overclock
Oof.
thats what i was asking for, i got a 1200 budget
the tables have turned
it would be a massive step back if you went for a 5700 from a 5800x, but a large step forward if you went from a 5800x to a 5700x3d
Or maybe I wait for 6000 nivida GPUs before I change GPU
Since it's prob fine for now
if that 9600x isn't cheaper than a 7600x, do not touch it
Msrp of $6000+
But this gpu just makes my room so hot in the summer bro
Is it worse, or is it just not that much better?
Gaming it be pulling like 300+ w
a 5700 = 5700g with it's igpu disabled @gilded breach
Lets say I'm paying 10 bucks more for the 9600X
more money for same performance
And with just discord and some web browsers still pulling around 100
Really? It's just the same thing?
I cant wait for my cpu & ram to arrive
Ah, fair enough
So.. Any LOQ with a 12-14th gen, and 7X35 is to avoid?
That's a fat 1%
Margin of error
that's a pbo tuning and get the same results
True, the 9600 could be worse
What's point of getting expensive cpus at 4k if most of the work is on the GPU
I still need to get a case for my workstation
9600 is a zen5 version of the 7600
I mean to be fair it's so marginally higher cost I genuinely would save more getting a slightly smaller power supply
I would consider using my main pc’s case, but id rather not have to switch back to air, plus its a pain in the ass to work on this loop
Wait wdym parts disabled
Like.. Disabled to circumvent the issue? Or disabled as a result?
for example, igpu disabled, or part of the igpu disabled
If it's the former, then.. I guess it's a worthy sacrifice to get a decent laptop?
Is that a result of the issues in it or how it's trying to circumvent them
now to compare this to r7's, i'd get an r7 7700 instead of a 9600 due to how close in price they are
@rigid fjord What size case should i consider for my workstation?
different issue
full atx for any workstation
I was thinking like one of the smaller towers
But idk
True, what's the performance difference?
a little bit older a result but still valid
I am thinking to run the ASRock 9070 base though, do I need anything better than the R5 7600x either way though?
However, I think it could be argued to run the 9070 XT with an R5 7600X over a 9070 with an R7 7600X if neither bottleneck the other, especially considering I play more gpu heavy games typically
wait so u cant run most games at all on a snapdragon, not even emulated?
Oh
not really, if you wanted pure gaming the best cpu to pair with it would be a 9800x3d tbh, 7600x would be more than enough as it is
Honestly I can live with the iGPU being disabled -- 3050 would do all the work anyway
in 99% of cases the game either runs at like 1-3fps or crashes every 30 seconds
None of my tasks could need both of them being used
I'm looking to make a $1400-1500 budget midrange truthfully, so whatever the more cost effective option is would be best
dgpu essentially goes through the igpu on a laptop
Pure performance is nice but also throws me off the deep end
1440p, of course
I've yet to buy into 2k even
... Oh
it's possible to fit either a 9070xt or 4070 in that budget
So if that's gone, the entire laptop just bricks?
As in, can't start up because of there being no graphical processor lol
it can be rewired on the board but if the dgpu dies itself, yes, it's a bricked laptop
I'd personally prefer the 9070xt for personal reasons (don't like Nvidia business strategies + used amd more)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tyBzxg a little bit over but doable

Currently solid option for price. Then comes edge
get the a620 se pro as the cooler, and also the p3 plus is a worser ssd to touch
hi
Cybercore and a1000gs are very cheap currently
A1000gs only problem is that it comes with 1 pcie cable
tbf, the link with the 9070xt is modified from one i sent way earlier to what someone else wanted, and they put an rm1000x inside their version of the build
Ah rm1000x is good priced currently
it is, but the build didn't even need it, even the rm850x was a bit of overkill for the build
Yes
Taking your suggestions into account, here's what was made
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/SoupOrSalad/saved/M4ZprH
Potential Part List - Feel free to recommend parts that perform nearly identically or better at the same price point (Trying to stay in $1500 budget) - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
aye, that'll work for sure
if you're happy to pay a little extra on the mobo, you could get a tuf b650 or asrock b850
Yeah the mobo was a bit on the iffy side for me, what benefits would come from those upgrades?
pretty much the same though on an b850 the bios would be way newer making it better for 9000 series ryzens
The last pc I built was from an age where it was "pick the midranger"
That's definitely nice, and would potentially make upgrades easier wouldn't it?
in asus terms, a prime mobo is an allrounder board and the tuf is the bare minimum board for gaming
Hey, Can someone pls tell me if a Ryzen55600X is a good upgrade from my current Ryzen 53600 6 core. For context my gpu is a Radeon RX 5700 XT
yes, 20-25% increase in cpu performance
To put it into sleep deprived simpleton terms, would that extra hundred be paid back in the future or when building it?
Bet thx, iv been experiencing weird crashes and stuff on hogwarts legacy but on task manager it says my gpu is only 10-15% while the cpu is 95-100% so hopefully it will improve 🙂
in upgradability and longevity terms, yeah
Would be worth it then, I'm willing to pay a bit more than $1500 for that
So if I'm looking at the right B850, this is the build?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QWTZdb
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
found the image i wanted, but this is how asus treats the boards
Ah that clarifies it
Honestly I thought rog strix would be their peak, considering it's an extended name
nope, that be rog itself
prime boards are actually ideal boards to use for first time builders, but there's always better ones in comparison
found this gem at school today
ASRock B850 Riptide being the one?
So can someone give me a laptop for college that has a decent battery life and is quiet can run games like terraria and other low demand games budget 1200
lower end gaming board on asrock's side but yeah
Would it be a heavy hit to performance or should it be fine?
Honestly I'm gonna be running 1440p with fsr when it calls for it so I'm sure I should be looking at saving money where it counts
lenovo legion 5 or the likes of a hp omen/victus, asus tuf line (all with amd cpu's inside preferably)
not one you could notice
Sounds good, it's a board I can probably run for at least one upgrade and I won't notice the difference
I had made a thread for my pc and they came to this, but I'd be lying if I said what was built here doesn't feel like my child
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/66ZXBq
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
They had noted a 5070ti for like $36 more though
Windows being Windows and showing "3" GPUs
