finding ram below 2133 for ddr4 is like trying to find 3200 ddr3, rare as fuck

dense pond

Cheapest rams (atleast here in Czech) are mostly 2133 (or just jedec speed),

the one timing thats diff (lower) is tcwl, which was set to auto 💀

i have to do some more tweaking to figure out 3800 cl16 as a stable OC

Depends on how many sticks you want it to run

i have 4x 8gb ballistix running at 3600 cl16 from it's original 3200 cl16

I tried there to ask for help with that, noone answered, plus you got similar pc, like the mobo (same chipset, other brand), and CPU (X version and i have G version)

tbh, you'd treat the 5600g as an r5 3600/3600x cpu wise

there's a fairly big difference in performance between a 5600g and 5600x

dense pond
#

Thats true, due to the fact the X doesnt have iGPU and having better stats

i have a 13900kf and last year it tanked, learned about the whole 13/14th gen issues and i got it replaced via RMA by intel. process was smooth but in the last few weeks i been getting some random blue screens and awkward/slow performance in some spaces.
i'm concerned that the updated bios i had gotten last september might not have been enough and i might now have another damaged cpu.
last year i did test every piece of hardware possible against a good working system(i couldn't test teh cpu vs mobo until i got the replacement cpu). Everything had been working flawless until the last month.

So far i've done the basics in software side of sfc/dism settings/drivers etc.
done memtest, cpu testing(tho, cpu never properly failed a test last year either) and default cmos + altering various settings suggested online(currently back on default)
my next step will be os reload to see if maybe the os is the culprit.

anyone know of anyone have their replacement intel cpu go bad too?

dense pond
frigid blade
#

Are the case fan speeds based on cpu or gpu?

dense pond
#

Depends what you want to cool more, if the CPU gets hot faster than GPU, you mind want to base it off of CPU and vice versa

frigid blade
#

Tbh I wouldnt care if they were full speed all the time

#

But how much does that mess with the life expectancy

#

Iceberg Thermal IceGALE Xtra does 169CFM, a 2 pack is $20

dense pond
#

Not much tbh, its usually (correct me if im wrong, again) based of running on 70-80% of speed, so around 15-26% less life expectation, but faster the bearing would wear out, or you just swap them out before they reach that life

rigid fjord
frigid blade
#

if you have the same amount of intake as exhaust fans, there shouldnt be any pressure differences right?

rigid fjord
#

i keep the temps around this area usually @dense pond

frigid blade
#

same fans, same size

#

I literally only care about airflow for the RAM but having it good for the entire case should be fine, I need these dimms to run 6000MT/s

rigid fjord
frigid blade
#

Ill also put a fan on the GPU to blow up towards the RAM

dense pond
rigid fjord

you want it going like this in the case but with the fans tuned in a way it'll give positive airflow

frigid blade

dense pond
frigid blade
dense pond

This mind be good for RAM temps, but also on top you lack the air filter

steel umbra
#

@dense pond mount a dedicated fan on the ram if doing heavier ram oc instead

frigid blade

Ill have to see if I have a mounting point for it. I know I can ziptie a fan to the top of the GPU

rigid fjord
dense pond
steel umbra

basicly the air there isn’t hot in the first place

Ah I see

#

But rn, I'm really torn between the Sapphire pure and the Sapphire nitro

#

Dunno which one to get

#

Nitro has a few concerning points like the connector, reduced cooling capacity than the standard old pulse and the price being $100USD over the Pure

surreal cipher
#

If one of them has the normal PCIE power connectors instead of the single larger connector, I would go for that one personally.

#

Make your own engine you probably could

surreal cipher
#

I did make a couple of simple games for fun in C++ with SFML as well, but nothing big

static oyster
surreal cipher
#

I haven't used C# in like 15+ years but I have used it before and remember mostly what to expect. The last time I was using it, I played with XNA game development.

static oyster
#

You could also just use GDScript

surreal cipher
#

I remember liking the C# language itself, but XNA had some pretty nasty limitations which is why I stopped using it

#

not a fault of the language itself.

static oyster
#

Yeah they depreciated it so I havent even used it before

#

solid language though

surreal cipher
#

Good point about GDScript... my mind immediately went to using C# since its a "real"/well used programming language

#

but if GDScript is powerful enough, might be fine using that.

#

I'll have a look at it first rather than jumping right to C#.

static oyster
#

i dont know much about godot but from what im aware its kinda like lua and the godot api is like built in

#

idk about performance vs C# though or if it matters much

surreal cipher
#

I think you can use C++ in Godot as well, I saw it on the website amusingly

#

Apparently its not really recommended though because it adds some complexity.

static oyster
#

You can use a lot of things cause its open source

surreal cipher
#

Amusingly, when I open sourced my Master System emulator, I did actually get a bug report. Somebody actually tried using it ha.

#

It was having graphics rendering issues in Phantasy Star. There was a bug in the CPU emulation which was causing it. I actually did fix it too.

static oyster
#

what graphics api did you use

surreal cipher
#

I used SFML. I know its not quite as commonly used as SDL but its what I know

#

SFML is a library which wraps to OpenGL (For graphics)

static oyster
#

Yeah ive messed with that a little before

surreal cipher
#

I like their API, since its C++/class based

#

whereas SDL is old school C

static oyster
#

Ew

static oyster

steel umbra
surreal cipher
# static oyster ngl I like the old school C feel

I am much more comfortable with object oriented languages since its just what I am used to, but I have played with C a bit and I can see the appeal. C is extremely fast and portable, even compared to C++

#

I know a lot of C programmers complain about C++ being bloated and too complex.

#

Which I can kinda agree with....

#

I like C++ but they're not wrong, it has a massive complex spec.

steel umbra
surreal cipher
# steel umbra c++ is way too much for my brain

I have no idea how I managed to get used to it to be honest. Now I am pretty good/fluent with it but I do remember running into the typical struggles with memory management etc when I first started.

steel umbra
#

I have never tried using it but I have heard that people are pushing Rust as a replacement for C++ now.

#

I'll try it out one day but I haven't had the time to yet.

steel umbra
surreal cipher
#

I haven't really been in a rush to try it out since I am quite comfortable with C++, but it seems to be common now to hate on C++ and push Rust as much as possible.

steel umbra
surreal cipher

I have heard that it has much nicer/automatic memory management

#

Seems to be the main reason people like it.

#

I remember trying to learn Go a few years ago, I applied for a job and the main language they used was Go, and I didn't know it. (Application said as long as the applicant has programming experience and are willing to learn, go for it...)

#

The syntax was very strange compared to C++, but it seemed decent

#

Although, I wonder if Go programmers aren't common or something

#

since they didn't say I needed to know Go, it was more "If you have experience in other languages and are willing to learn Go, you're welcome to apply"

steel umbra
surreal cipher
#

oh, interesting

static oyster
surreal cipher
#

Well, I suppose it makes sense to open the job up to anybody who has programming experience and is willing to learn

#

I guess anybody with years of programming experience should be able to learn/adapt to different languages easily.

static oyster
#

Go is really easy to learn ngl I taught myself in like a couple hours

surreal cipher
#

Yeah I remember the experience was similar for me

#

once I got over the weird syntax, I ported my C++ Chip-8 emulator to it after a couple of days

#

Haven't used it since then though because I didn't get the job haha

static oyster
#

haha thats fair 😭

surreal cipher
#

I remember when I was in university they made me learn a language called Haskell.

#
