Wow so I went on my tablet which is an S9 ultra, I haven't even paired the AirPods max with it, only my phone. They automatically switched over to the tablet because both devices are Samsung. I can also launch and talk to Google Gemini with them.

Well I don't know where you got that from because that's actually incorrect . I've literally tested these with an iPhone and it's exactly the same. They do not even need to be connected to a device to take advantage of the ANC just for reducing ambient noise.

However depending on the device the AAC performance may be worse

There's a reason why you don't get an Android device out of the box with bone stock Android

If the audio quality was worse then I genuinely believe you and I wouldn't believe you if you said it was as good as an iPhone

While Android devices are actually capable of higher Bluetooth audio quality then Apple devices that's because it supports higher quality codecs however with AirPods you are restricted to SBC and AAC and in the past Android devices have been known for piss poor AAC performance due to the way Android power management works

I think even today it can still vary depending on the device and it's AAC performance of course you're going to have the same performance and quality across all Apple devices when it comes to Bluetooth AAC

But typically if you have a device that has unoptimised AAC performance then SBC can actually sound better.

Make sure you do it with an Android device it's actually updated and from a big brand like Samsung, I say Samsung because that's what I have and because Samsung also make Bluetooth earbuds and it seems Samsung have actually put a lot of effort into how well Bluetooth works on their devices seeing as I get the seamless switching

Interesting that you can get an Android smart watch to work fine with iOS, I don't see why it wouldn't pair fine but I would be dubious about how well notifications would come through and if that would work
