Just...buy an AIO like a normal person you sick freak?
Or adata kyber
Air
do people
still use Constant pressure fittings
My Reserator has had them, since the beginning, no leak
But i haven't seen them on water cooling loops
in forever
No air
Nitrogen
Water
that's a barbed fitting, not 'constant pressure' fitting, and it's used for soft tubing regularly
Hmm
i'll blame it on a translation error
also there's no such thing as a reserator where custom loops are concerned
I think they mean resevoir?
So what is this then, Smart guy?
it's possible
cooler stack, basically similar to a radiator
looks like it has a pump built in to it
You're too young to know what this is
Smh imagine not speaking english fluently
nope, i'm probably twice your age
you're calling rauko young
for real
reserator 1 v2 = brand line, not an actual device
guys an old head lmao he's like 60
40
lies, you're older than that
dude idk
back in the day
you say Reserator, everyone knows you meant this
Everyone ive talked to in the tech space is like 40+, its wild
i haven't done water cooling, in that long ago
nope, born in 1985
fuck, why do i feel called out
well happy even year then
it's still a cooling stack, for the correct term for what it does, they call it something else to make it sound different
as the description states "fanless cooling system"
i'll be honest with you
i don't really care
i just wanted to know if people still use a certain type of fitting
barbed fittings get used, though they're usually part of a compression fitting if using a certain type with soft tubing
hm, cooling stack yields no result, in regards to pc's
for example
Bro never heard of a hardware store
last i've been to a hardware store was like 12 years ago
when i needed a new lock
hardware stores do not deal with niche areas like custom loops for pc's
you buy your tools once in your life
and use them for said lifetime
Rauko is 40?
They sell shit like pipes and fittings and all that fun stuff i higgly doubt custom loops are the only thing that use small parts like that
Flanges, valves, all that stuff
3 types of different barbed fittings for pc cooling
Not made for computers
none for pc's, especially due to the thread type custom loops use
If your garden hose leaks nothing bad tends to happen, if your custom water loop in your oc leaks then you know
Made to make sure water stays in pipe still
shitl ike that is built for stuff
that won't mind a few leaks
not for computers
tbf, coper pipes don't like leaks, nor does ptge tubing
that's fair
but usually people don't do copper pipes in water loops
Exactly, its not meant to leak lol, pressure and things like that
super niche inside a niche for those that do it
yeah, i've seen these used
but what about the little clamps
you have to look for them specificaly to the pipes outer diameter
hard tubing is always done via compression fittings
is there any actual benefit to hard tubing
besides aesthetics?
@unkempt ravine's PC soon
Nope
i tested the reserator 2 days ago
still no leaks
No
The only good thing about it is aesthetics, everything else about hard tubing is pain
Unless
you go copper
in which case i'd assume the copper will help radiate the heat
Wrong
this doesnt kill any compoments
how so?
please, elaborate
water loops are and always will be pain to setup
and deal with
you don't exactly do it, cuz you love practicality
Levels of pain are very much relevant
Does anyone know what I can do to restore the pleather surface before I start wearing through the foam itself
the way you say that, sounds like you don't want a janky solution
I want a functional solution. I don't care if it's janky
grip tape, might help
That's actually a good idea
I don't want this mouse to become another one of those discontinued Microsoft trackball stories
grip tape
is what turned my bosch ratchet screwdriver
into a usable screwdriver
i feel that
One of the switches is broken because I dropped it, how likely do you think it is that I can get a switch by itself or should I just buy a new one
Another dead i5 13600k
can't you buy a donor?
And as I suspected why in the hell would people update their bios
Well then I'd just use the new one lol
Well people who are not super techy
It's a $70 mouse.
YIKES
It's worth every penny
i won't question your Odd Preference
You have every right to, it doesn't offend me
You can say my mouse is weird and gross to you, I know it is, I just like it better
i feel like you're uhh
self-projecting there a bit
I would just say that it's Odd, not weird and gross lmao
I march to my own beat. I use a keyboard tray and a trackball, I prefer my bicycle over my car, I mounted a steel box to my bike and put motorcycle mirrors on it, I have an industrial fan on my desk, I use a machete instead of a powered brush cutter
I think other trackball styles are weird and gross and I hate them
I think the one I have is one of the only good ones
Not in a judgemental way, more like I would never ever consider using that
you do shit weirdly, cuz you find it cool
I use mice by pivoting my wrist and fingers. What I realized is that if I'm just pivoting anyway then I have no reason for that mouse itself to move.
Not at all. I find it really frustrating how differently I do things because there's less support
One of the reasons I chose Linux Mint is because it's one of the popular ones
It would be a lot more convenient if my preferences were conventional. I just do what I find the most comfortable regardless of how outlandish it is
idk why do you feel the need to tell me about how unconventional it is lol
Just do you man, Everyone has their preferences
I just like talking to people who will listen
i feel that, in a way
I was ranting, sort of. It gets really annoying that my way is so different from everyone else's
i hate conventionality aswell
The modern Keyboard standards are horrible
Who tf decided
that a Compact keyboard
Will have the Arrow keys, but not the numpad
if its not 100% its not usable
I don't hate conventionality, I hate the solutions that have been made conventional
Did people forget what happens when you disable
Numlock??
I think there are better ways to do most things
The Numpad IS the Arrow keys
I have a tenkeyless
I don't like that the number pad makes me spread out my arms more
You like it.. cramped?
No I just don't need redundant keys
They restrict my options as to how I'm going to position myself
I respect number pads, but don't use them
Is it normal for a 7600x to reach 90°C while playing minecraft
no.
It's not normal for any CPU to do that you are thermal throttling
its not throttling i think
I have a ryzen 9 5900x and the nhd-15 couldn't cool it. I had to switch to an aio and it takes zero maintenance
The limit is 95 iirc
You don't want the temperature getting that high
It degrades your cpu
I would never allow my cpu to go above 80 degrees. You should try an aio
uhh ima try repasting and see if that makes a difference
are you using the stock cooler?
its normal for this one apparently
The 7600x doesnt have a stock cooler
Normal when you don't have adequate cooling maybe
oh
What cooler do you have
Peerless assassin
7600x isn't that power hungry
Try aio
I think you have a bad mount or bad paste
Try Phil's solution first
the paste was a bit sketch so thats what im suspecting as well
Did it always do that or did it suddenly start doing that
i didnt really use my pc since i built it so idk
Make sure all of your fans are working
easy test if the mounting is bad is by applying pressure to the cooler forcing it down on the cpu, while it's running.
Then check if the temperatures change
When you reapply thermal paste make sure you removed the plastic
my last keyboard
used it for like 2 decades
and now i have the TVS Gold Prime
you can prolly tell, what my type is
i miss membrane tho
ngl
even the 85+ Hz, but 85+ Hz reduced the hurting
Oof 13th gen
How did you expect framework makes money
Especially as such a small company
Framework laptops are great, they're just quite pricy for what you get initially
I expect not to cost 3x what one with exact same specs but unrepairable does
I can get a 4060 laptop with that money xd
Or for 200 more a 4060 laptop with an oled screen
There's no point in a repairable laptop when you can replace it 3 times over for the same price
A framework isn't gonna last more than 8 years just due to the mid range chasis they use
It's not a Lenovo ThinkPad after all
thinkpads arent what they used to be either
True
The X1 carbon and Lenovo yoga pro 9i are really good still tho
Same with the Legion 5 slim
Altho I prefer the zephyrus g14
shouldve gotten the silence case, not the airflow
what is
84c is low
it should be higher
only issue for me is that the fans are way too loud for my liking
so lower them
man i hate the gigabyte software why does it not have a button to apply the fan curve to all fans
cause thats the way the world works
and it doesnt allow me to edit the first and last points in the curve
holy shit its 21c here
Tfw my custom art phone case blocks nfc
i could go so much lower with the fan speed but the software doesnt allow it
im at 87° @75% fan speed
at least now i know not to buy gigabyte boards again because their software is shit
i didnt want to buy msi because i knew their software is even shittier, guess the next board is gonna be an asus/asrock onr
92° at 50% fan speed now, a lot better than before
use the bios
Just bought a 100wh power bank what if I extract the battery cells inside this power bank and put them in my rog ally
Would be a very nice upgrade to go from 40wh to 100wh
is it actually
nah I just said that for fun
no

i mean i heard people say that asus software is better so
mobile things use a flat battery those use round
was just an assumption
probs 18650
like im not gonna buy a new mainboard in the next 10 years anyway, as long as mine doesnt break
I own plenty of Asus products and the software is shit
Genuinely dogshit
oof
The fucking software meant for Rog Ally is awful too
It doesn't work lmao
I unassign buttons from the software and it doesn't work
I disabled all functions from the back triggers yet they still somehow work
I'd switch to bazziteos/steamos but Fortnite can't be played on Linux
oh yeah thats so much better
take it from an EE, those things aren’t meant to be repurposed and if they are your best bet would be if the terminals are clearly showing and you can just solder leads on them then maybe it’d be fine, otherwise highly don’t recommend replacing a battery on anything
Kind of like old Nokia batteries
Otherwise the slightest mistake and you’d have a lithium fire and those need special extinguishers
you can just dump it in water or sand
and since working with lithium cells is a bit tricky only do so if you know exactly what youre doing
💔
Did anyone know where the screenshot folder after install a fresh windows?
This ain’t a dynamic island on my iPhone.
This is a super notch
iOS 18.4 is lovely with its bugs
I’d recommend just 3d printing a holder that lets it attach to your ally to get 140Whr capacity cause I just had to RMA my ally as a battery bank detonated the charging IC while I was flying, if I had modded it I would have lost my warranty
In fact it should be at my house tomorrow from the RMA center
When it detonated the charging ic it took the whole ally with it
Dead short to gnd on 12v line
Damn
@ebon marlin
How the hell can that even happen?
quality
I study electronics and even then I'm baffled how that can happen since ur just switching power banks
Sure pal

🤕
That's so weird tf
All ur doing is switching the power source
how does the conversion even work or am i missing something
Maybe the other power bank was just faulty somehow inside
Probably just a voltage spike if I had to guess?
Can't find anything about the detailed specs of Rog Allies battery too lazy to go through spec sheet but I'm guessing it's battery is 20v and the power bank wasn't just ready to supply 20v and was expecting 5v instead
I mean I had used that battery tons beforehand
That’s not how batteries work in handhelds
They run off of booster and buck converter circuits where you can supply it with a wide range of voltages from usb c and step or down the voltages to what the battery needs and then the amperage rates is what varies
Hi LTT fam... So I had a question. I have T-Force RAMs its by the manufacturers Team Group. I have 2x16GB DDR5 6000MHz vs 2x32GB DDR5 6000MHz
Yes
Wanted to know from anyone with knowledge on RAM and stuiff
does it make a big difference
Wait are you mixing sticks?
no
Only difference is size
I am considering whihc pair to get
32GB for gaming is more then enough
cause the price disparity isnt much
If you have the money why not
True so I have seen, but I also do use unreal and unity for some game dev projects
and animation and modelling
extra ram won't hurt if it's only a little more expensive
32GB for “just enough” or 64GB for ease of mind.
Then get more capacity
I got 32gb and I'm sometimes thinking of upgrading but that's just because of minecraft
What about 96GB
its not a cool number
you need it to be either 64gb or 128gb
I run a server too
If its just one modded server still na if its many at the same time then ye fully get it
Im prolly gonna end up buying a 9070xt for 860EUR
me being lazy and not closing other apps brings me pretty close to 32gb
Swap
Nitro+
I'm not gonna upgrade to 64 now cuz I'm still on ddr4
If its possible, yeah. I run 512GB
once I'll upgrade platform I'll get something higher capacity
Car
am i tripping or is there so such thing as a micro atx power supply
i literally cant find any
you're tripping balls
wtf
what
why cant i find any 😭
m-atx psu's don't exist
so, as i said, you're tripping balls
duh
ok 👍
do u guys know some good websites where i can buy only RAM without paying an expensive amount in delivery?
what country?
i was going to by from computer universe but the delivery is 50 euro
what country again?
does it matter?
yes
why
different markets, different pricing
whats up chat
well, not you
you think I could get help trouble shooting my pc
#1027757333117415424 exists for that
malta
idk if yk where that is
i assume ur american
maps and google earth exist
really really bad assumption
ur not?
People can’t do any research these days
oh shit
definitely doesn't look like the american flag there
the thing is the ram i bought
i found out not so long ago that it is compatible to my cpu
amazon germany could be a good option, also amazon italy is a posibility
because i experienced issues such as restarting and shiy ykwim
what cpu you got?
Technically it was before the civil war.
nope, before that it was mixed colonies from different countries
Oh yeah’s I forgot.
there's a reason why new york was originally called new amsterdam
hey, i built my 1st pc 5 months ago and idk if my temps are fine while gaming i get cpui up to 70 max while doing nothing is around 40 while having cs opened in alttab is 55
70°C is more than fine
totally fine. and tbh you should use hwinfo to monitor temps
70°C is nothing lol
well that's bit of a mistake of a cpu to get tbh, however ddr5 6000 cl30-32 would be ideal, and at cl36 at highest if much cheaper
thanks
different cpu but this is what i see daily on average, and gaming puts me easily in the 60-70c mark
so im all good?
yeah, easily
i set my r5 7600x to run at around 90° while playing minecraft, youre fine
Quick question, why do my 3 pin fans not change rpm even when I change voltage
I set mine to 12 volts when it was at 7.2 and it made no difference
Ultra crappie fans or do smart fan mode
Smart fan mode doesn't do anything either I don't think, you think it's just the fans being crappy?
Try FanControl
And the build begins
Why does that look like lga 1200 or lga 1151 v2?
Because it is 1200
Uhm is this picture like 5 years old?
I feel like one of the ram sticks new price is like the price of the cpu and mobo
Well them as a platform
It's an i9 10900k still very capable
Ehhh
use remo's fan control instead
But if the bios doesn't work why would this? I guess it doesn't hurt to try
i mean atleast it looks cool
sometimes it's the fan themselves tbh
it has the fugliest ram possible on it tbh
Buying new fans would fix the issue tbf
most likely, i'd suggest a pack of artic p12 pwm pst's
These are the fans that came with my case
no harm swapping them out
It was like £65 and came with 3 intake and 1 exhaust fan so probably skimped on the quality
not all dc fans are 3 pin tbh, some are 2 pin on a molex connector and has the 3 pin with only 2 of them connected in
From my understanding molex fans run only at 12 volts right
yes but are still voltage controllable
Voltage controlled fans seem like a pain in general, my CPU fan changes rpm just fine
Is it possible my fan hub that came with my case is faulty?
just you don't have a tachometer sense pin that reports back to the mobo
definitely possible
arctic p12 pwm pst's
anyone know of any good pcie x1 raid controllers
there are none, but there are some decent sata expansion cards that do that
these are both pwm, and daisy chainable btw @stark quail
means, no hub is needed with them
they're also £30-40 for a pack of 5
Anyone happen to know much about Dell and docking stations?
Trying to figure out what the max capabilities of a laptop are through one
Well that should solve the issue then
Anyone able to recommend an ergonomic chair for 100 or less in the uk?🙏
Herman Miller
Don't troll please
amazon.co.uk, there's some pretty okay ones at that price there
Check used stuff. Offices often cycle out their chairs every so often so find one from that is usually the best bang for buck
Why do you want that? Software raid is better
Nothing locally I've checked for months
Just cheapy ones
Avoid those bucket seats
Ove had a look on amazon but not sure what's better to get, there's some with nornla cushioning snd the back is the netting looking stuff or both the back snd seat are the netting
Are there fans that are quieter and daisy chain able, I'm probably gonna buy those but just wondering
you still need the use of a hba/sata expansion card for it
That's unfortunate.
I got a heap of steelcase leaps a decade ago for like $30 a pop. Every chair in my house got swapped out for them lol. 6 around the dining room table etc lol
Yeah expansion makes sense but hardware raid is yucky
Very
for sure, it's more the fact you need these kinds of cards for the extra connections for the drives even when doing software raid
Now I’m realizing how ugly this Ethernet cable run is lol
Really? I thought normal expansion cards would be fine?
I would drill into the wall and run it through the wall but then I would need to do planning, etc
Nothing a conduit can’t fix
This one's 55
possibly, but at that point you start needing a hub instead as they're not daisy chainable
Just remove the house, than you won't need to worry about it
I also wonder why LTT ppl are not active on discord 🤔
x1 expansion card's = 4-6 port sata at most, for doing 8+ sata you want one that's either x4 pcie or better
Yeah
hba cards = 8+ sas/sata drives being able to be used at once straight away tbh
How many drives is the dude gonna use?
no idea, but if he tried one of these x1 cards that do 8+ sata, he's going to have a headache
Lol yeah, and reduced peformance, unless it's a pcie 5.0 one
But idk if they exsist yet
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08YYHG1Z1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DJLX2PHB
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BTVYF3NB
i'd sooner go for one of these tbh
Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair with Lumbar Support, High Back Mesh Chair with Armrest and Headrest, Modern Swivel Executive Chair, Black
Nyxi Premium Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair – High-Back Swivel Executive, 3D Armrests, Adjustable Headrest & Lumbar Support, Mesh Seat, 3-Angle Locking Mechanism, Silver Metal Base, Comfort & Productivit
put it this way, off of a single x1 lane, you can do 4-6x sata drives going at full sata 3 speeds, aka 6Gbps
2nd one appeals the most to me out of the 3
Don't need the leg rest as I don't have room for it unfortunately 😂
trying to do more than that off a single x1 lane = sata 2 or sata1 speeds instead
I'm at my gfs place so I've judt got s tiny corner so im hoping the chair itself fits, mainly the legs that might be an issue
if it can fit in a 2ft square area on it's own, then you'll be fine
60.2cm square area for metric use
Ik
Actually I can run the Ethernet cable under the floor mat. Although a flat Ethernet cable would work better for that than rounded
i have a DAS with no controller, i need something that can read the drives
Can your das use pcie?
there is some , i own one its just doesnt cooperate
it originally had a pcie esata controller
Also who the fuck is this, they are from ltt discord but iv never seen them before
witha esata port on the das ^
if i can find an alternative to get the drives to be read i can do a softwarw raid issue is my pc only has 2 hdd ports
open to all and any suggestions , i just need this asap so i can move my backups
how to get rid of smoke smells on gpu
block them. i get similar from time to time
Razer or logitech when it comes to mouses?
FUCK ME!!! Why do these higher wattage USB cables never last for me?
esata is not the same as doing hba, and tbh hba cards are a minimum of x4 not x1
Would there be any noticeable better ones that aren't much more?
Logitech
logitech by miles
Just curious
I need to replace this 100watt one of mine as apparently it keeps connecting and disconnecting from my PC and windows keeps beeping at me
Hello
Logitech as a company may do some stupid shit but their mouse is great.
I used fan control and yeah my fans don't change speed, it detects it but it can't change the speed
tbh, to have better ones would be to pay 300+ for a chair
It's probably an issue with the fans themselves
Ima buy some new ones than don't require a fan hub
Thanks for the recommendation @rigid fjord
Would the mesh be better than foam or nah
9/10 the mesh is always along the back, as for the cushioning for the base of the seat not so sure
i hate foam
my back gets really sweaty some reason
As for space for the chair, a normal chair fits but seems have a bunny and his toilet tray is beside where my chair is currently that's why im curious if it'll even fit
If you take care of them you really shouldn't have to replace them
i think i have something wrong with me i just sweat at the sight of anything above 20c
wonder if it's due to the connection being loose some how
What does the magsafe iphone case do?
Currently having connect-disconnect-connect-disconnect issues so yeah I need some new 100watt cables
allows you to use magsafe stuff through the case
basically allows the Magsafe magnietic connection to work
I don't need that
so dont get it
I think / hope I'd be able to angle the legs so the space between them will fit where the toilet is otherwise im stuck with a shitty wooden chair
So far
Would mesh be better? Never had one so I got no clue
i cannot install this PCE-AX1800. did both the bluetooth and the ASUS WLAN card driver and it still dosent work. any help
Looks like the inside of my 100watt cable is shot as I was able to stop the constant connect disconnect by moving the cable around a bit
SO yeah I need some replacements if they are going to do that on me
anyone got a recommendation for a projector for like review of documents in a conference trailer?
$22 for 4 cables
i really really hope this pc is under 500$ if you just bought it
or free
omnomnomnom
Yo, you got a spare? 😄
yo sim can u help me with the AX-1800 u recommended
lol this is just something i get to play with for a week 😦
and drivers will not work?
I dont get it, whenever I play poe2 I have those temps. Is there nothing I can do?
Im using the AIO freeze 3 or whatever its called
What why
since there is a 10th gen cpu in it
Archer TX20E equips your PC with more advanced Bluetooth 5.2 Technology that runs faster connection speeds and farther range compared with older versions, ensuring a strong and stable wireless connection between your PC and Bluetooth devices.
Part List - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 4060, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
looks like ok temps but what is the power use at
10th gen is still good lol I already had the cpu
link to the driver you downloaded
what is the max cpu PPT wattage ?
did you just rebuild the pc
if it's going up to like 145w+ then being in the 90s on a 9800x3d is normal
i already asked :3
With better parts yes
better motherboard, ram and gpu
ASUS PCE-AX1800 driver version 3.01.1.1210
asus wifi drivers for a tp link card?
Because I already have the CPU, the CPU still goes for £180+
so sell it?
what
the wifi card made by tp link
and you installed ASUS drivers for the ax1800
as in asus card drivers for it
i sent the wrong one
No? shush now
?
i feel like i know what you did give me a moment
go down until you see w
can you send me the link to the driver you downloaded
o well, here is the correct driver https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/PCE-AX1800/DR_PCE-AX1800_3.0.1.1210.zip?model=PCE-AX1800
I have musi on my old phone but it doesn't let me download it on my new phone
dat a cooler issue
what cooler do you use
ASUS PCE-AX1800 WiFi 6 delivers 1.5X faster speeds, enhanced security with WPA3, and Bluetooth 5.2 for superior audio and extended range. Upgrade now!
That arctic cooler 3 aio thing
how tight did you screw it
Liquid-Freezer-III-360
hmm that is the right one, what happens when you try to install it?
yeah the lf3 is one of the best for am5
nothing. it dosent work
you did extract it
Yeee tis why I have it but its not helping
😐
Im pretty sure the setup is normal
i ask yet again, how tight is it screwed down
i’m confused
Maybe the air holes are just too little
what should i do then
as much as it needs to be to not have gaps
found the issue
On the cpu?
you are meant to screw it in as hard as you can by hand
well not AS hard but REALLY hard
Im pretty sure I did
whats that gotta do with it
do it
i’m so confused
get a sata expansion card that can also do esata with it
do you run setup?
does that have a controller? cos i tried plugging it directly into the motherboard with it and it couldn’t read the drives just came up as drive 0 on partition manager
yeah that was on the setup
i did this again and ethernet stopped working
yeah i did that but when i finish setup it does nothing
wait for it to install then restart
i did thag before but ill try again now
bluetooth dosent come up in device manager too
did you restart?
did you install the bluetooth driver?
we could also try https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
and windows update drivers
na it trash
yeah
well for wifi
that's it reading the drive, and no as they're not hba cards they're just sata expansion cards with esata, also why you do software raid not hardware raid, really dumb to use esata for doing raid with tbh
they're... the same drivers without the bloatware 😄
if you get any
hes on windows11
and says its not on there
Why did the USB C standard ignore extension cables
it is
it doesn't
or newer
Wdym, I thought all USB c extensions cables work out of USB c spec
the machine was free😭 im just making use of what ive got
Whatever the word is
n0
There is a reason for USB-C extensions not to be part of the standard. They can be bothersome in the best case and dangerous in the worst.
The cable tester featured is a prototype from here: https://ble.caberqu.com
#electronic #usb #usbc #cable #eMarker #extension
whats this for
usb C is the connector, it's not a spec, you have to look up USB 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2 specs
its a INTEL wifi chip, and that software is called?

USB is a spec
That and USBC can move a lot of power, an extension with power will get toasty
that's the most concerning part
Okay so why there aren't official USB C extensions cables that work with say modern USB C version that are mostly used today on day to day devices
240w
and now the new china connector can do like 480w
They have active chips, why doesn't the USB c extension cable limit the power delivery
eh??
not all of them do
that's the issue
why can I buy a 7TB nvme from aliexpress for $15?
Such that you wouldn't have to worry about this
they use a resistor on a sense pin to tell how much to allow for basic ones and for PD chargers yes they use a chip but it aint perfect
since there cant
because the limit for USB 3/3.1/3.2 is 3 meters total
because it's a scam sale dude
nooooo
Yeah that is so a scam dude
no no its fully legit trust me bro
it's around 8gb with the controller's microcode designed to report it as 7tb
it's like those 2gb usb drives that are suppose to be 2tb
I'm quite aware, that was a reason why extentions are not available. Someone will sell a 240w "rated" extension that can't push more than 15w, likely causing a meltdown.
If you need to extend USB-C, buy a cable that long.
or do fiber
when you realise this, you learn that even for just power that limit requires something else inline for it to work
But I'm reading online that extension cables are infact out of USBC Spec
I kinda wanna buy an ADATA/XPG mouse lol
so what is the usb-c spec
i’m so confused
and if you say USB spec then jump out le window
I haven't even bought anything ADATA but their stuff seems nice, and I have a weird bias towards them
good
As they should be. If you want to extend it just use an ethernet cable and splice between the connection ends.
i stink so i will tkae a shower now
USB IF certified
tbf that breaks it for usb 3.2 specs especially for data use
and? lol
who gives a shit, I used to do that silly stuff all the time when I was in a pinch
this be when you use a 1-2 meter long cable and use an ethernet extender instead between them
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do
HDTBase?
similar
Yes but don't you think it would be better for extension cables to be included in the spec, even if they are shorter or lower data speeds but this way a customer will buy extensions that won't cause fires
Or whatever the F it was called
If you need a longer cable just buy a longer one. The correct tools for the job usually help do the job correctly 🙂
similar as to what you can do to extend hdmi over ethernet tbh
Yes but for example we had USB certified type A extension cables
How is the average customer supposed to know that type C doesnt allow for extension cables if type A had them
Can't remember the right name for that "Spec" or whatever you want to call the damn thing that has been around for years at this point and was suppose to replace things in the past for a "Smart Home" setup
which are always no longer than the specs for selected specific usb type
My question is why can't I paste code changes and commit them in github.
usb type c is such a shit show for specifications
Maybe I did too much github commits that way lol
there’s so many different specs that it’s impossible to keep straight
Exactly, do the same for type C
quite possibly they couldn't handle the load you gave them dude
I'm not saying 1000 meter long cables, whatever would be the maximum that works
HDBaseT is the one I am thinking of by the looks of things
I dunno, this server is airgapped and I need to ensure I save my changes before I blow something up
usb 3.0 max is 3m iirc
that really requires it being to a specific spec, and for the likes of usb 3/3.1/3.2/4/4.1/4.2 you cand have it over 3 meters long
So nothing beyond say 15Feet or so
usb 4 also
10 feet
~10ft
a little less in actuality
you can have longer with optic cables, but boy are those expensive
if you was doing usb 2 you can get away with it being 5 meters
true but that's more for data, i don't see it working power wise
TBH I need to get a longer USB c cable to connect to my dock
oh it doesn’t deliver any power at all
I have a 2 meter one but it is hanging in the air
it is exclusively data
I want a longer one so I can cable manage it properly
What tower case should I use for best cooling performance, I believe my current one just has too little air vents
I can't seem to find anything longer than 3 meters tho
what is your current case?
I need 4 meters
you won't as they're usb 3
Tell that to Jsaux then https://www.amazon.com/JSAUX-Charging-Compatible-Nintendo-Switch-Grey/dp/B0DG56JWZV
correct
I assume fiber usb c cables work only with hardware that support it
i wouldn't trust it tbh
I don't think my dock actually uses the USB c for power I'm not sure
Why they didn't make it so I can just use the ethernet port instead
though usb 2 speeds, so, maybe, still wouldn't trust it for the wattage @tulip sparrow
sighs all of these "100watt" cables seem to just be USB 2 speeds for data
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085S9XSRB i have 3 of these, they're good for basically no more than 60w @tulip sparrow
nah it works with anything that uses usb c for data only
all of the conversion of copper data to optical data is done on the cable
considering that's for adding an ethernet port as a nic via usb C, no, not for power use
price wise looks good, but check any and all pics of it, and get a vid of it working
ight its ebay so that could be a challenge
Hmmm but I doubt my dock would have the necessary drivers to use the Ethernet port for data
But wait
What if I get two Ethernet to USB c

it’ll establish a network connection between the two
Wouldn't handle my laptop then I would think
not usb data
Fair
not going to have it work in the way you're wanting it to as they're nic's
The laptop somehow seems to "kill" the 100watt cables after a few days
plus you won’t actually get a connection like that, you’d need a router
Idk man I just want to connect my dock with a longer cable ahhh
then you need fiber, or cope with usb 2 speeds
nah, for data, you can do it, but it requires static ip's and using one as the gateway from a pc to the other
I know USB over ethernet is a thing
not going to work on a dock that way
Secret project: set up access points all around your town
I just have my mouse and keyboard connected to the dock
If you don't way tot go with optical conenction between the 2 devices
one of the pcs would work as a router in the situation
chat
Optical and or ethernet is sort of the 2 main options for longer runs
If you aren't using something like MOCA/Powerline
near enough as one yeah
At this point I need a few 6foot cables to replace a few broken ones I have
@rigid fjord what do u recommend i do, i have 3 nasware hdds and no space in my pc🤔 with a super low budget
A "USB Hub" connected to a "USB Dock" is likely to cause issues LOL
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWP8M41G/ usb 3.2 extender over ethernet
USB 3.2 Extender extends high-speed USB devices over a single Cat5e cable, combines a USB extender and a USB hub to allow connecting as many as four USB 3.2 devices. The compact USB 3.0 extender install in minutes, simple to set up and requires no additional drivers to install. The USB 3.2 extend...
When one says "hub" I think of a line of USB ports not these new fangled "docks" people are listing as "hubs" online
no issues on my end
let me see what I have connected into it
I forgot
Not sure if you seen it:
PURE BASE 600 silent
LMFAO I have a usb A extension cable connected into the second dock
same because a hub lets you connect multiple usb devices to it, and doesn't do ethernet, hdmi/dp, and a few other extra things on it
my bad, my current go to is a phanteks xt pro
i no no wanna order RGB extension cable
thankers
These are DOCKS NOT HUBS idiots
look at this
👍
🤣
@rigid fjord exactly but the "Docks" get labled as hubs from OEMS and its just a bloody mess
it works
@rigid fjord @elder quarry @azure topaz
Just found an R5 8400F LOCAL for 120
exactly, especially due to the multi card reader built in
that bottom cable is a HDMI, middle is power, and the top one is for data
I can get into AM5 for CHEAPER than LGA 1700 Holy shit
It includes both the Card reader and an HDMI port in the end of the thing
No
sorry tgat was gross
even without the hdmi, it's not a hub tbf, it's not usb only
But it gets labled "USB C Hub" instead of a dock
?
Exactly
basically around an r5 5600/5600x performance
very nice
Yeah but I get the AM5 socket
The second cheapest AM5 CPU breaks the bank
And LGA 1700 is dead
that’s actually kinda cheap for fiber optic usbc
I assume you are trying to follow this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu1hNTyPANA

Everyone has been saying you should buy AMD’s Ryzen 7 5700X3D if you’re building a budget gaming rig. But who wants to pay for a Computer that is out of date...
yeah I expected a lot more
14400F v R5 8400F is 5% according to tech city
I didn't know that video existed 💔
does this mean that you can use a fiber usb C cable for data on any device?
5700x3d is ded
does the chip inside the cable do all the work to make it be the same as any other cable
What
yes, that’s what i said earlier
hmm so I might be able to just buy one of those cables instead for my dock
Amazon / Aliexpress links are useless
let me recheck my dock's manual tho
Both for shipping prices or not even shipping to me
Yeah the chips turn the "Data" into light which goes over the optical cable and then gets turned back into data on the other end
actually peak
Seen the price?
60 dollar for 16 feet
Just letting you know what CPUS were being discussed in the video
Uhm so a 5m cable
for data only
I have an RX 6600, and my question is, what GPU should I get next thats worth getting?
I got far enough to see the 7500F (start)
5700X is 135 btw
You do not need a optic cable then
5090
the best one in your budget
I don't think Optical handles power?
seems like it is indeed a data transfer only
the usb c cable they linked for the quest has both optical and copper
How could it
I think that requires a seperate line?
optical for data, copper for power
R7 5700X Is 135, 8400F is 120
Well or that
5600 is 105
yh but if my budget is 400$ and the next GPU is only a 20% performance increase, would it even be worth it? thats what im trying to avoid
a 7700xt or better
holy price
you are the only person who can answer that question
But I'll be stuck on AM4 which has the 5700X/3D as its best CPU
Look for a used rx 6800 or look at a rx 7700 xt
Basically if you want to run "power" along an optical connection you need one that runs the power over a sepearate "copper" cable
NO. I dont wanna pay 5 bucks for shipping
Or save up a bit of money
womp womp, shipping ain’t free
? I just said I wanna buy the 8400F lol
I think there are some optical cables that are setup that way?
It's still more than enough CPU for my needs
idc >:(
And is more upgrade ready than AM4 with the B650M-E
I personally own a 5800X3D so I am personally good for the forseeable future I think
wait hold on look at the cable that my drawing tablet came with
?
Well that's pretty much non-existent in my corner of the world
what stops someone from making a USB C fiber cable that works this way, having a separate connection for power 🤔
so like power + usb c -> usb c
Its a "squid" cable lol
i wouldn't trust this
I think they exist
Chinese brand or someone like Wacom?
you have no other option
Huion
Not a brand I reconigze
I would say second brand after wacom in popularity
wacom from what i've seen don't use a cable that splits out like this
Wacom is Apple
Huion is Samsung
and the others are whatever
I know of Wacom and then I know people use like their Samsung tablets and Phones for drawing as well
Samsung tablets or Apple tablets yeah
Basically the S-Pen for drawing on the samsung side
this cable is 40 dollars 💀
My "Note" series devices for example get used in the drawing space a lot
The B650M-E should be a good board, right?
Even tho the "Note" name is gone the concept still lives on in the Ultra series
idk what the other ports are for
I assume for laptop users they are useful
I would love a separate display port tho
The one on the bottom looks like HDMI to me so that is my guess. USB A for data C for Power and HDMI for video
but I made this work just fine
nah they are both usb c
let me check the manual
dp1.2
and I assume I need to use fiber for that also
Spo like plug in a phone or something similar
if I want anything more than 3 meters
actually nvm I won't be able to use it anyway
Yeah optical or ethernet basically
my cpu doesnt have integrated graphics
You can get HDMI to USBC cables
Make that dp to usbc https://a.co/d/bJTPwz9
no reason to change anything
I use one of these for my "portable" monitor since the HDMI port on the thing is broken now
I can buy Last of us 1 AND 2 for the price of the first game on epic rather than steam. Experience wise is there any difference between the platforms?
Initially I wanted to use a display port -> usb c adapter
They have a 6 foot option
Probably a dumb question, these are built-in standoffs right? I dont need to put standoffs in?
I don't see why that wouldn't work unless you need a "powered/active" one for longer runs
looks too low, usually you thread standoffs onto those
corsair's RGB pisses me off so bad
I ended up just buying a hdmi extension cable tho
since I didnt have a display port long enough
and I am moving the tablet often so I need a long cable
This is too low?
I really like the screen of this tablet tho
looks like it
its etched laminated glass
case should’ve come with the correct standoffs if it needs it
the texture feel throws me off sometimes, you dont expect for glass to feel textured
corsair's ram is just really off shade with the other RGB, and to finetune it i need SignalRGB pro.. like who's gonna buy that?
There wasnt an additional bag, except for additional HDD screws
i mean, you can always see if the io plate lines up
No those look about right
Ooh good idea tbh
just make sure there’s no unused standoffs under the board
Pretty sure you need something like this for a longer DP run https://www.amazon.com/Anker-DisplayPort-PowerExpand-Aluminum-Portable/dp/B08QV2FSKT
Model Number: A8315 PowerExpand USB-C to DisplayPort AdapterThe Compact and Portable DisplayPort Adapter 4K DisplayExtend or mirror your USB-C laptop’s display in 4K to a DisplayPort monitor. Universal CompatibilityWorks with a huge range of devices including MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iPad Pro, G...
Standoffs are usually preapplied in a case
and those look like the preapplied ones
going to that nightmare rackmount?
Good luck
i have a similar chassis that requires thread in standoffs to select the standoffs you need
Totally.
good luck
rackmount cases are hell to work in, unless you go out of your way to have as few internal cables as possible
You have 2 different types of DP adapters active and passive and I do believe active ones are needed if you want a longer run of cable
passive will work fine for short runs
DP passive is 15meters
beyond that active is required
thats POSSIBLEW???
blinks apparently
that’s a first
I MAY need to hotrod my rack pc case. My GPU seems to be a tad long
How much ram do you have and how big is the transfer?
you can have 15 meter display port and use a usb c adapter to make it work.... but you cant have a 15 meter usb c used for displays you have to do fiber bullshit for that
shrugs I don't make the laws or rules
480KB, ram usage should roll past in my status at some point
if taht hasnt crashed...
like its just wires inside just make the chip thicker or whatever is needed but make it usb c
this way we would have a single port that would just work
that’s what happens when you have different communication protocols
like sure you wouldnt be able to deliver power but you dont need to in this usecase
Interesting formatting choice from YouTube
Bo 👻
oi
blinks Dolphin dev here?
MIGHT be mixing you up with someone else. Would have to double check the Dolphin forums
Ok looks like I am mixing you up with "JMC47"
whcih latest nvidia driver to install which doesnt crash?
it happened, so yes it is
is the WD Blue SN580 NVMe 2TB M.2 SSD good enough for gaming, I´m just planning to upgrade my recently purchased laptops storage space, the os and everything else is currently on the 500gb ssd that came with the laptop so i really need more space if i want to install games
im just wondering if it can run games normally and if it will last
yes
the majority of pc usage doesnt scale with fast storage
Yeah the biggest leap was going from HDD to SSD in the first place after that it has all been VERY minor
Which is why I am perfectly fine using a PCI-E V4 slot for GPU/NVME setups
i mean would an average joe like me even see any diffrence between a samsung top of the line 2tb ssd compared to some cheaper 2tb ssd
Nope
no
whats the difference between wd blue and black
bruh just skipped over the pic
product segmentation
What do you think of the aio tubing?
Wear counts maybe? Would have to look up the "colors" again to figure out the differences between them
Reds are NAS I think?
For example
the one i asked for would be at the 41.2s right
brothers I need help running my ram at full speed. it's supposed to run at 5200 but it's set to 4800 while xmp 2 is enabled. my board is b650 eagle from gigabyte and the ram is ddr5 16gb from kingston
should be fine with those, a good way to check is sitting an atx mobo on them
so its pretty decent im guessing
ye but u can see even with the most modern supertop expensive $300 gen5 nvme loads 2% faster than cheepo gen3
Basically the increase in iOPS from SSDs over HDDs was the BIGGEST difference and thus there isn't any real difference now between ssds aka newer/ffaster aren't really required as long as its a modern ssd you are fine
or if you're use to certain ancient computers 😉
AMD K7 based desktop back in the day LOL
just cuz you've got practice, doesn't make them less suck to work in lol
