I'll be building my first NAS next month.
I just bought three 12 terabyte hard drives. And plan on setting them up in hex OS and raid 1. So my understanding is that I'll have 24 terabytes of usable space when I get this upper running. Is that correct?
It is the next step that I'm in more need of help. Let's say that after a month of that setup that I want to add three more 12 TB hard drives. What happens then in terms of how much space is allotted to redundancy? Out of the 72 TB will 24 be set aside for redundancy? The case I have can hold 15 hard drives and my plan is to eventually fill it up. In the end how much space would be set aside for redundancy versus how much is usable. Thank you

what you should do for example is what i did, my laptop has the Ryzen 5 7530U + Vega 7, so what i did is allowed th eupper limit for the wattge to be from 25 to 45, and it basically wasnt at 2ghz in games and tuboed to 4.2 on all cores, plus with allocation of more vram for the igpu, for me 32 gigs for the laptop so i allocated 12 gigs, and i was able to get more performance, stuff like rebar would also help

Its perfect for my situation, you stick that mini pc to the back of the monitor and its like a party trick, peripherals look like they run into the monitor and you get high end GPU and CPU performance from a mini pc

The latency from streaming isnt noticable at all

Even over the internet, you can game just fine as long as you are wired and match speeds
