yeah, "orthogonality" refers to each instruction being able to be used multiple ways. in the case of early x86 vs 68K, the 68K had a bunch of different addressing modes for things like specifying inc a, inc (a), inc (a,b), inc (a,constant), inc (r, const), etc. The 386 had similar instructions, but not all instructions could be used with each mode, which made it cheaper but a little harder to program.

I guess a better way to describe the difference between Ada and Blackwell is to say that blackwell is more modular. Ada has seperate units for shaders, tensors, ROPs, RTX, etc. while Blackwell just has "the shading core" that has an RT unit and a tensor unit inside it. IIRC Blackwell still has seperate ROPs though lmao

haha, I studied CPU design, you've stumbled into something I know about >:)

MIPS, ARM, and RISC-V are all very similar, as they were all initially written in the 90s-ish, which was around the time that compilers got good enough to compile to pretty much anything with no human intervention needed. IIRC MIPS has a lot of weird errors that need to be accounted for, though.

AMD64 was written in 2003-ish for high performance servers, so it is a little different, but tbh nowadays all "modern" instruction sets are pretty similar

I think it just depends on who is able to make cheaper chips that have decent gaming speed. MIPS is basically dead, PPC is unusably slow, so I reckon a good RISC-V would be the best non-obvious gaming architecture. Nvidia already makes RISC-V SOCs, so I imaging they could slap an Ampere GPU on one and make a hlf-decent machine

issue is that wifi is half duplex shared medium, one device can talk at the times so if you have communication between 2 wifi devices you get half (if single direction) or quarter the bandwidth (if bidirectional)
